Vern's Timeline
The long-awaited Timeline is here!!
(There has been interest in it soo... we worked hard!! By hard we mean double checking math)
While not explicitly stated previously, Vern is 180 during his 3rd Year at NRC and turns 181 by the end of the year.
NOTE: CW & TW: Mentions of Death, Sexual Assault, and Miscarriage
Viewer Discretion is Advised
Tumblr media
00 - his father, Caligo (Cal), was last seen going to help a group of stranded humans when an avalanche occurred. Assumed to have died
30 - he lost his mom (Ignia) after a skirmish with some humans that started a forest fire. She sealed Vern into a tree to save him before doing the same to herself. He suffered burns from his toes up his calves during this and still doesn't have feeling in them. Ignia did not survive. Vern gained his Unique Magic, Tears of Spring, in an attempt to bring her back and restore her. It did not work. He managed to somehow petrify her tree.
60~ish - Vern meets Koa the Elk, who decided to become his familiar!
75 - Thanks to Koa, Vern saves Shirley(64) from a traveling merchant that kept her in a bottle
80 - major forest fire destroys most of the mountain range. Vern and several fae agree to work with the humans to save one area. After, they establish the town in the Phantasia Mountains, now called Paradise Mountains. He met his Uncle Cliff(9) that night.
89 - Uncle Cliff(18) gets married
127 - Vern found out he's intersex!
130 - Victor arrives in the mountains and meets Vern. The two have a bit of a friendly rivals relationship
141 - Vern and Shirley(130) meet Folia
144 - Shasha (Vern's eventual friend) was born in town
159 - Franz(16) moves to town
161 - Shirley and Folia start dating. Vern spends less time with them and more time around a traveling troupe that visits in the summer.
162 - Vern meets Gin (15), a stowaway on the train. Decides to do nothing about the funny teen. Gin proceeds to make it his mission to make Vern his friend
163 - Vern meets Stravi (15) while visiting the troupe. He was drawn in by Stravi's songs. The pair are almost inseparable while the troupe is in town. Vern starts receiving postcards from Stravi when the troupe leaves the mountains. Victor starts to be more openly aggitated towards Vern.
164 - Sasha(20) and Franz(21) get married in the spring. By late fall/early winter, they have a son. Vern becomes the godparent. Uncle Cliff's wife passes away during the winter, about a month before Vern's 165th birthday.
165 - Vern was sexually assaulted by Stravi's brother(17) during a summer thunderstorm. He accidentally took the human's life. Stravi offered to take responsibility by proposing, but Vern turned him down, saying they were too young and that he would rather see Stravi happy than chain him down. Instead, Stravi moves in with Vern when he realizes Vern is not properly caring for himself. Almost 2 months later in autumn, Shirley overblots. Vern stopped her by accidentally throwing her into the engine of a passing train, causing an explosion. Vern took severe burn damage to his hands and arms that destroyed his nerve endings. He also took shrapnel to the abdomen. He fell into Deep Sleep (hibernation) from his injuries and lack of magic. He slept for 1.5 years
167 - woke up in late spring from Deep Sleep and was told he suffered a miscarriage, lost the child, would have almost no chance of ever having another, and that his 4 closest friends (Stravi, Gin, Sasha, & Franz) had died due to 2 harsh winters. Due to his magic reserves being too low, he was unable to fully heal himself and is left with scars on his hands, arms, and abdomen. That winter, in a state of grief and depression, he agreed to a deal with Victor where the two would get engaged UNLESS Vern willingly gives his true name to someone he trusts by his 200th birthday
177 - At Cliff and Shirley's insistence, Vern starts attending NRC. When he told Victor, the two got into a skirmish that left Vern with a small scar below his right ear.
180 - Vern's 3rd year at NRC! He overblots due being unable to keep up with his infirmary duties and lack of sleep. Insecurities of being "useless", "all wrong", and "not right" surface again. His hometown has its Centennial, Victor overblots.

Alright, how would ros react to a shy mc who is endlessly being hit on (and who needs help and looks over with the "save me" eyes)?
A classic! I love these. I'm assuming this is at Elysium or a party or something.
Riley:
Crushing: Walks up and stands next to you, then begins to cut the other person off, explaining in detail lore about some obscure fantasy series. If the person doesn't get the hint they'll just never let the other person talk and will interpose themselves between the two of you.
Relationship: Pushes them into a broom closet and locks the door so the two of you can enjoy the party.
Franco:
Crushing: Will join them actually. Sorry but now you're being double flirted with.
Relationship: Politely informs them that you're taken and then he'd proceed to get that person to hook up with one of his band members instead, so everyone's happy.
Verne:
Crushing: As inelegantly as possible they'll walk over and tell the other person to fuck off.
Relationship: This is fun because they don't like to show their feelings to the public, but they also like to make sure people knows what is "theirs", And they're just generally protective over the people they care for. So this position they're in now will make them act kind of stupid because they'll be out of their depth. It'll be a toss up between them just walking over and kissing you really hard in front of the other person. Or threatening the other person. Either way they'll be ready to fight.
Mitch:
Crushing: Turns their drink into the nastiest alcohol he's ever had so when they take a sip they're immediately disgusted. When they turn to get a new one he'll shoot you a "gtfo" glance. If you don't get the fuck out then that's on you.
Relationship: "They're taken. Move on."
Sigourney:
Crushing: Walks up carrying her drink and "accidentally" trips and falls on the other person. Apologizes profusely and helps them clean up. If she REALLY wants to be petty she'll try to spill something that will stain.
Relationship: Ignores the other person and says something to you that makes note of your relationship with her and how she knows you better than the other person. Something like "Lets go home, darling. I know you're not a fan of crowds. The new episode of that show came out today, we can watch that." Pretends she didn't know the other person was hitting on you, like you and them were having a normal conversation.
Dame:
Crushing: Just stands behind the person flirting with you and very loudly says something like "God, You're pathetic." Proceeds to start a yelling match probably, giving you time to sneak off.
Relationship: Ignores the person flirting with you at first. They'll walk up to you, slip a hand around your waist and get really close. Whisper that they'd like to go home. After a short quiet conversation between the two of you they'll finally look to whoever was bothering you, give them a glance up and down, and give a little smirk before walking off with you. They won't say anything as it'd drop them to the other person's level. They're able to EASILY insult that person to hell and back with a look alone.
Rebel:
Crushing: Will not save you. She's going to watch and see what you do. But she will make note of the person. She won't let them become a threat.
Relationship: (Wrestling announcer voice) "HERE COMES REBEL WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!!" Joking, but only kind of... She'd probably start some sort of mass panic in the party. A fire is the most likely. Then when the crowd is fleeing she'd grab the person bothering you, pulling them away from the panic, and make sure they never bother you again.

AMC's Nautilus
Tumblr media
Action, political intrigue, plot twists and a healthy amount of sea monster skirmishes:
These are just some of the many reason why even those unfamiliar with the works of Jules Verne will find "Nautilus" to be an engaging SciFi adventure series.
Here are my (spoiler-free) thoughts on the show.
Note: as I write this, "Nautilus" is airing only on SVT: This is How I Watched it Living Outside of Sweden
Tumblr media
When I heard that there was going to be a TV series about Captain Nemo's backstory, I was mightily aprehensive. The main reason for this apprehension was the mere fact that Captain Nemo's past is so dark and tragic. Thankfully, the series begins after the horrific events of the 1857 rebellion and just as the Nautilus is launched. What happened to Nemo's family is shown in flashbacks which explain the events without being graphic.
When I began the show, I honestly had very low expectations. I didn't really expect to like it. To my delighted asonishment, it turned out to be one of the best film tributes to Jules Verne I've ever seen - no hyperbole.
Throughout the series, there are fight scenes, periodic depictions of people bleeding and a couple "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" innuendo jokes, so I wouldn't watch it with a small child, but I think it would be appropriate to watch with most young teenagers (13+).
I believe both well-read Jules Verne fans and those who've hardly heard the name "Captain Nemo" will enjoy the intriguing storyline, likable characters and aesthetic scenery. There are many other factors which made me fall in love with "Nautilus" as well:
The Man of the Seas
The character of Captain Nemo has always facinated me. I was blown away by how perfectly and accurately Captain Nemo was portrayed in this series. Shazad Latif, in my opinion, is an immaculate Captain Nemo and he really brought the character to life with all his complexities. Out of all the film portrayals of Captain Nemo I've seen, I'd have to say his has been by far my favorite.
Tumblr media
Tributes to Indian History and Culture
I'm American an my husband is Indian. He and I were both very impressed with the way in which Indian culture and history were presented. I want to see more shows like this to teach our son about his heritage.
Many of the action scenes reminded me of South Indian cinema. In one episode there is a scene where the Nautilus crew is playing cricket against some Englishmen, which may seem a little disconnected from the rest of the story, but Bollywood fans may recognize it as a delightful tribute to "Lagaan."
The Writers Were Well-Verse in Vernian Lore
Although the story wasn't 100% accurate to the book, the writers obviously had read Verne's books and knew the nuances of Nemo's story and background quite throughly.
There were certain details which made me excited, such as when Nemo has an enigmatic exchange with an Englishman in which they greet each other warmly and seem to be thanking each other for...something. Nemo ends the conversation by saying, "Give my regards to Phileas!"
In Verne's other classic, "Around the World in 80 Days," Princess Aouda is the widow of the Raj of Bundelkhand. Since Jules Verne often dropped little hints that his books existed in the same universe, I always wondered if Aouda and Nemo were distantly related, since Bundelkhand is Nemo's kingdom of origin.
A question is posed: in this conversation, was Nemo thanking the Foggs for saving someone he cared about? This is the first time I've ever seen anyone address the detail that Aouda and Nemo might be relatives.
Tributes to the artwork of Alphonse de Neuville and Édouard Riou
I noticed several shots which were obvious tributes to the first-edition illustrations of Jules Verne's classics, such as Captain Nemo standing on the submarine deck with his spyglass, and the map of Lincoln Island on a cave wall. Those details absolutely thrilled me!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everything I've Ever Wanted in a Verne-Inspired TV Series - Except for That Cliffhanger!
Everything about this show absolutely floored me. It was everything I could have hoped for in a Captain Nemo TV series...and then it ended.
Such a well-done series ending with fairly significant loose ends felt like a punch in the gut more forceful than the maelstrom itself. I've been trying not to let it overshadow the rest of the show. I wish with all my heart that there could be a season two!
If anyone's curiosity gets the better of them, I compiled a list HERE of questions I desperately want to know the answers to. I hope someone may be able to answer my questions one day!
Tumblr media
I want NEED more!
While I'm still coping with my post-series let down, I find myself pining away for more shows like this; shows based off of classic adventure novels which honor the spirit of the origional author.
I want shows which are imaginative, exciting and engaging, but have snippets of real-life science, culture and history woven in. Incidentally, I daresay these are the same elements which make the stories of Jules Verne himself so timeless.

i feel like i should know.. but i don't. i'm not far enough in jude's bond yet, but why is he associated with the moon???
I got you....
Long story short: We don’t have the definitve reason yet, but his lore features the moon a lot.
More info below the cut in case others don’t want potential spoilers:
From the first story event, Jude is looking at the moon when he makes a comment about promises. Additionally, there are other Jude events that mention the moon specifically. In their Past Records event, Jude is featured staring at the moon listlessly while chainsmoking, their CG feature the reflection of the moon as well.
About his bond stories: in Bond level 4, he lends the MC his personal copy of a book about traveling to the moon (it’s guessed this is Jule Vernes’: From The Earth To The Moon), and in bond level 15 which is called “Moonlit Stroll”, Jude speaks about the book he lent her back in level 4, and says that it’s not wrong that it would take 11 km a sec to make it there, suggesting he’s done the math himself. He also says that the last time he thought the moon looked beautiful was seven years ago, so it's definitely something linked to him.
Personally, I think he’s trying to find a way to the moon for whatever promise he’s made in the past, but I could be wrong. Hoping for more lore prior to his route dropping. Hope this helps!

Back to the Future: The Animated Series, s02ep11 “Super Doc"
Previous episodes linked here.
In this episode: The boys once again decide to meddle in Doc's past.
The episode begins in Doc's lab! Which is a rare setting in this season (we usually have a green screen background).
Doc is fighting a battle against a heavy trunk, and he's losing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's about to take Clara, Jules, and Verne to the airport, and told them to just pack "only a single piece of luggage." They packed a gigantic, heavy trunk that Doc can't move. He says that Clara and the boys are going to visit his Great Uncle Jonah, to which my initial thought is: how old is that man?? It's not like there is any indication of time traveling being involved, as we're in "present day" and he's dropping them off at the airport. And Doc is, what...80-something at this point? (factoring in the 10 years he lived in the Old West building the time train and the fact that the cartoon takes place in 1993)
You're telling me his GREAT UNCLE is still alive??? The guy must be like 140 years old!!
I call shenanigans.
Anyway, Doc says that he'd need super powers to lift the trunk, which reminds him of a time in his life when he actually did believe he had super powers. This brings us into the cartoon.
Verne is up in a tree being taunted by his peers because he's afraid to jump out and use a rope to swing across a stream and land on the other side.
Tumblr media
Apparently, this is part of the initiation to join the "Mega Muscle Man Club," which is based on a popular comic book superhero. Verne's classmate tells him he has one day left to prove he's worthy of joining the club. Another kid pipes up to say that Verne's too chicken to do it, and Vernie sadly climbs down the tree while all the boys cluck at him. :(
Meanwhile, over in Doc's lab, he's putting the final touches on the pair of "booster boots" he's built for Marty. "These booster boots will aid you in your yearning for more altitude," Doc says, to which our empty-headed Marty replies that all he wants is to be taller. Marty tests them out and is pleased that he won't have to stand on his tiptoes anymore to kiss Jennifer.
Ridiculous, short little man.
Verne comes stomping in, complaining about having to swing from the tree, and Doc tells him he shouldn't do something just because someone tries to pressure him. Jules soon joins them, carrying a box of things he'd found while cleaning out the attic. Marty finds a newspaper dated 1952 in the box that contains an interesting article.
Tumblr media
Yeah. So...Doc was a wrestler. Because why not.
Doc says he never actually went through with the match, instead deciding to pursue a life of science. Those are quite the two choices to be stuck between.
I think the writers for the show just had a gigantic dart board filled with any random idea that popped into their heads and they threw darts to come up with the storylines and pieces of character lore. "Yeah, so for this episode...uh...Doc" *throws dart* "used to be a wrestler. I guess."
As soon as Doc leaves the room, Jules and Verne start lamenting how they wish their dad would have chosen to be a wrestler. Marty, who never thinks about the consequences of anything ever, immediately runs to the DeLorean and tells the boys to jump in. Because there's no way that going back in time and convincing Doc to choose such a wildly different path will have any negative impacts, right?
The boys head to 1952 and attend the wrestling match, where the announcer says that Emmett "Brain Buster" Brown has yet to show up. If he doesn't enter the ring in 10 minutes, he'll have to forfeit the match. Also, there's a banner advertising "Fepsi."
Tumblr media
Marty, Jules, and Verne go backstage, where Doc's manager is panicking over his refusal to show up to the match. Jules and Verne propose they track down their dad and convince him to wrestle while Marty wears the costume and pretends to be Brain Buster until Doc shows up.
Tumblr media
Marty protests this decision, telling the manager that girl scouts used to beat him at arm wrestling, so how could he possibly wrestle for real??
Over at Doc's apartment, Jules and Verne pose as reporters for their elementary school's newspaper and ask for the full story on how he got into wrestling. Turns out, the whole thing started because Doc was at the grocery store and reached for the last potato the same time as the manager did. They got into a physical fight over said potato, and Doc won. The guy offered to make him a wrestler and set him up in a match against Mad Maximus.
Because Doc wrangled a POTATO out of a man's hand.
Doc tells the boys that he's since decided a life of wrestling isn't for him, but they work to convince him to give it a try. Verne gives Doc the booster boots so that he can get to the arena on time, and they all head over to the match.
The audience members in the backgrounds are highly amusing, btw. A lot of them are completely faceless beings, but some of them have these generic looking stick figure type features, and I have to share them.
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THEM! They're adorable!!
So, just as the match is about to start, the guy in charge of the crank that lowers and lifts the microphone lets it fall, and it bonks Doc on the head. When he wakes up, he thinks he's an actual superhero named Mega Brain Man. The boys follow him as he runs around the city stopping "crime" (he keeps wrongly interpreting innocent situations as crimes lol)
Tumblr media
After attempting to stop some bad guys from blowing up a building (they're construction workers demolishing a condemned building) he gets hit on the head again and regains his senses. He returns to the arena to continue with the match and is, of course, truly awful at wrestling. After losing, Doc tells the boys that this is what he gets for letting others pressure him into something.
From there, we cut immediately back to the present day, where Verne is once again being told to swing from the tree in order to join the Muscle Man fan club. Despite continued accusations that he's a chicken, Verne is able to tell his classmates that he isn't going to jump. And that's where the cartoon ends.
We return to Real Doc, who is waving to the airplane as it takes off with Clara, Jules, and Verne. Doc says he isn't going with them on the trip because he's got work to finish. However, once his work is done, he's going to travel back in time and go with them. Which. Okay.
The science experiment portion teaches us what helps planes and helicopters fly.
We return very briefly to the airport tarmac, where Doc is wrapping up the episode and preparing for some incoming rain. He tells us that he hopes the experiment helped to teach why airplanes can fly but humans can't. Unless! You had a device that forced air pressure under you, which, whaddya know, Doc has!
An airplane flies by, and the resulting influx of air simply carries him away.
Tumblr media
Adios, Doc.
A silly, silly episode. I kind of wish I'd been keeping track of all the pieces of Doc Lore from the cartoon, because Cartoon Doc has led such a wacky life.
Join me next time for another episode where Marty is a horrible boyfriend.

Tumblr media
To the left is Diana Verne, she’s 50 years old and she’s a powerful witch that’s cocky as hell.
to the right is Shue Sthradin, 55 years old whom is a warrior who wants to find peace after much struggle.
there’s not enough lesbeisnans relationships that are for old women and this aren’t even that old anyway, but here’s just a little drop.
I just made them so they don’t have much lore yet, but we’ll, they are cute together.

Fairy Names Pt. 2
Fly with you! It’s been a while hasn’t it? Anyway, I’m here for a second part of one of my most popular posts.
The first post listed fairy names that were used in the DS game “Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue” in the create-a-fairy section of the game. While the names provided were feminine, I have pulled all of the masculine fairy names from the original Pixie Hollow game. Some names are repeats from the original post, but I kept them in as I wanted to get this out as soon as possible. I hope you enjoy. Here’s the original post.

Note
What's something interesting to you personally about Vincent's life as a human? Or is there not too much lore behind his past?
Oh where do I begin >=]
He was born in a rather wealthy family. Not rich rich, but richer than most. His father worked in stocks as well as mines, and got a few good scores in the markets. He eventually decided to move his family to the states where most of his mining operations were.
Vincent (who was 5 at this point) wasn't necessarily scared of the ocean, mainly because he was to busy being sea sick ALL the time. He has a low tolerance for sea sickness so those 9 days where torcher for him. Half way through the trip, his father was able to bring him down to the holds of the ship in hopes of him losing his sea sickness. When they got to the engine room, Vincent's sea sickness vanished completely from the sight of that giant iron monster snorting in chorus. If any of you seen a reciprocating marine engine, then you realize the absolute astonishment Vincent had with the thing. This would impact his life by him having a curiosity with anything mechanical.
After they had gotten to the states, Vincent's father had a large house built in an open field, and had Vincent enroll in school. He had a good taste of what bullying was like being that... ya know... he's "different" apparently... yeah the kids in school where a bunch of dicks.
To try and fit in more he tried sounding more American and dropped all words that where British, almost that is. He wouldn't say "Where's the loo" or ask for "crisps" (for all you single minded Americans, loo is "bathroom" and crisps "chips") He could never go full american accent but he settled for a mix of two. He still uses his mixed voice to this day and can go full UK if he wanted, but he's just used to the mixed voice a this point.
From there to 1903 is pretty uneventful. He learned to play Violin at the age of ten and was actually quite good at. Got into art, and began to help build things with his father. He also got an interest for reading those classic novel like "Jules Verne" and "H.G Wells". His favorites being "Around the World in 80 Days", "Master of the World", "The Time Machine", and "War of the Worlds". [You though I was gonna put "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" didn't you. Sike >=]]
1904 his father was going on a business trip back to England. He had done these trips before, and ecationaly he would bring his family with him. This time however, he went alone to New York and left for England. All was smoth sailing and got to England on schedule. Did his work. Then set of back to America on board the S.S Norge... The ship was lost near Rockwall and lost 700 out of 800 passengers and crew.
Both Vincent as well as his mother where both devastated by the news, and this is where Vincents fear of natrual bodies of water peaked. His mother was absolutely heartbroken by the news, but they still had money. When someone dies and there money is in the bank, then that bank is now entitled to that money being that it belongs to no one now. Finders keepers. But Vincent's father never trusted banks, so he kept all the savings in checks and put them in a safe. This meant that now Vincent's mother had to be entitled to the business, and so she did. At the time, men found it odd and in somecases, offensive that a women could operate a full scale business, and Vincent had a few fist fights about the subject, most of which he won, but she ran it, and did a damn good job until 1921.
Vincent would make it an ecation to visit his father's tombstone once a month. A tradition he still keeps up to this day.
Vincent's mother didn't like the idea of living alone for the rest of her life, and that's somthing that stems out to Vincnet later in life quite dramatically. She remarried an industrialist by the name of Jonathan in early 1905 and had a child by the name of Morgan, who was Vincent's little sister. I'm gonna keep Jonathan anonymous for now.
As Vincent got older, he found that kids in school started trying to be his freind, but he was keen in what they were trying to do "Freinds give eachother things right? So what do I of all people have to give but money" he would say. His same attitude was towards the women who would flirt with him and where even wishing to Ummm... "give him somthing he wouldn't regret" if he paid them. This somewhat scard him for eternity, and forever had the notion that someone was always out to get somthing from someone.
When he turned 14, he began working for a small branch of the "Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company". New factories means new jobs, and engineering jobs for that matter. He quite quickly rose up the ranks as being an electrician for the electric dynamos. He wouldn't call himself a young genius when it came to the stuff, he just learned quickly and had a nack for electric energy. He was fascinated by its mysterious force and power, and sometimes experiment with it as well. He got electrocuted many times, but still came back for more. He wasn't obsessed with it, he was just fascinated by it.
From there to 1909 I want to keep anonymous as well just to be secretive X]
So yeah... I just looked at your question again could of wrote you what should of been a simple sentence. But no, I give you a hole damn passage. Hope you don't mind <=]

Hey Galena!
Much much much much thoughts on your status quo post so imma drop this all in an ask and not discord because.... well, no reason.
//cn spoilers
You are so right something is shifting right now bc in current main story the nxx is drifting apart and the boys are pushing Rosa away and frankly, all around sussiness (i haven't read it, i've only read my friend freaking out about it)
For main 5 traitor route, disregarding Vyn's status as sussy, I actually see Marius and Artem as traitor more because they have more at stake here. It's just 1) so interesting to see them!! Traitors!! and 2) I want to see what would happen that Marius can't manipulate out of a situation and turn traitor for some reason or even better, what would happen to cause Artem to become a traitor.
What's more interesting than Kiki though: If Darius has some important information we don't know about.
YES. JEROME. 5TH LI ROUTE. JEROMEEEEEEE (thank you for the shoutout). Jerome 5th LI makes so much sense, man's got a whole illustration dedicated to him, a whole new outfit, lore, hotness, and he's the black hair LI we need in ToT and the only reason Marius enemies to lovers route isn't real is because they had to save it for Jerome (coping)
If Zangr was right all along though, it could be interesting for Hoyo to put a bit of horror into it. What if this point gets explored in the "mls figured out Rosa was being controlled by some unknown entity... ". For instance... Us. The player. The manipulator. The puppeteer dragging Rosa around on the string.
I once had an idea with Rosa time looping except she was consciously aware of it and sets out to change her fate. (Context: she died episode 6 with the air tank thing) I never completed it :'D but the idea is she finds herself time looping over and over again whenever she dies and slowly unites NXX and tries to prevent repeating prior mistakes
OH MY I DIDN'T READ YOUR POINT 6 WHEN I WROTE POINT 1 BUT YES YES YES YOU ARE SO RIGHT
Alternatively, what if we're not hearing all of her thoughts? We think we know Rosa pretty well because of what we read about her, but what if that's just a small peek into her psyche, enough for us to think we know her, when in reality we know nothing about her?
I love outsider POV stories. It's always so interesting to see something major - for instance, a time travel story - but everyone else's POV is shown except the time traveler's. Also I think Baldr is a joke because well, Rosa POV and we always beat her. But it'd be so interesting to see everything from a Baldr POV and show that they aren't the losers we see them as. Maybe we get a Baldr POV story and we find out they have deep ties with Heirson, NXX, and holds a lot more power than we thought. Then we head back to NXX POV and we're freaked out about what we've learned... that the team doesn't know. (I am playing a game rn where we go through the story from our team's POV, then after the chapter is completed, we unlock a shorter Hidden Story for that chapter, where we get backstory & depyh on the events of the chapter we just played, all from an outsider POV. Devs have used this to break my heart with antagonist lore several times hfjksahjkfs - did we literally just beat up the antagonist only to get smacked in the face with her backstory and find out that the place we fought her at is her home and she's never going to be able to return again? Yes. - and while I love Anomaly THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING. For instance, we get a look into Pedro's psyche and guilt as he sabotages Grandpa Vern, someone he once thought of - and possibly still thinks of! - as a grandparent or his acceptance of his fate after, with a "I deserve this" mindset.)
I don't know if the story will have a happy ending - it really depends on if the prologue is also the actual ending with Luke, Artem, and Marius gone and Vyn being the only one remaining. Which would make me cry so hard but at the same time... what happened?
Oh gosh Rose I'm sorry answering this took so long!
1. Is that so about the main story? That's an interesting turn because they were never that close in the first place, it was only because of MC + Nosta + other team events that they started to grow closer. So for them to grow apart again might be an interesting development. It is, however, mildly funny for them to push MC away because although it's most likely for her safety, it also sounds like they want her out of the picture because she does the team building, she brings them together -- and they don't have to function as a cooperative group if she's not around!!
2. I agree that Artem would be an interesting option because of how connected his character is to the law. To have him resort to perhaps more underhanded tactics, perhaps for Neil, would be an interesting twist.
3. Yeah, that's fair about Darius! The NXX would barely be able to make the important arrests without him, so to have Darius not entirely on their side would definitely change things up.
4. Jerome has a lot of potential for an enemies-to-lovers route, so if canon doesn't do it, I'm sure fanon will eventually come up with something XD
5. Ahh, referencing / talking to the player! That one is fun, too, although the developers would have to be careful because you don't want to attack the player or make it so abrupt that you rip the player from their immersion.
8. Exactly! It would be such a twist if we weren't hearing all of MC's thoughts. It would be the unreliable narrator all over again and it would dramatically change the way we saw MC.
9. That's a really great concept, actually. I like the Anomaly levels, too, but having Outsider POV or side stories would really flesh out the world of Stellis so that it feels more like an actual place where people live and struggle and work. I think it's great that the NPCs aren't entirely discarded (e.g. MC running into them in certain events), but it would also be very cool to hear from their perspective.
10. I like to think there would at least be a hopeful ending, because that seems to be a recurring theme in the game. I hear hyv does have a pattern for tragic stories, however, so while everything might not be completely okay in the end, I think the main cast will have to be in a relatively stable place. This sort of links back to the otome aspect -- because there aren't multiple endings, that means there's only one true ending per love interest, and as such, they would all need to be okay so they can live happily with MC in their respective routes. The prologue being the ending would be very interesting for the circular effect, though!
Thanks for discussing this with me! Again, I apologize that this took me so long to get to!

Ooc// non-specific lore? Coming right up!
Vern's home, Phantasia Montes (mentioned in his Ceremonial Robes), roughly translates from Latin to Fantasy Mountains. It's also a twist on Fantasia and Mountains.
The mountain range was later renamed by the humans to Paradise Mountains due to 4 Seasonal Sprites making the area their home. Vern will still occasionally call the area by the name he's known it as since he was a young child

10 Ways Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire is a Sci-Fi Masterpiece
Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire is not only the most underrated and underappreciated film the studio has ever produced, but is quite possibly one of the most overlooked and under-watched science-fiction films the genre has ever known. From its distinct, sketchbook-inspired style to the Jules Verne-esque technology and steampunk aesthetic, both are but drops in the ocean of reasons to adore this film.
RELATED: Disney's 10 Most Creative Uses Of CGI, Ranked
Despite harsh criticisms and poor marketing on Disney's part, the film does have a cult-status among both Disney fans and fans of the sci-fi genre. Why are we so set on spreading the gospel of Milo Thatch? Have a look at our reasons Atlantis is a sci-fi masterpiece.
10 Pillars of the Genre
Tumblr media
For Disney Animation's first foray into science-fiction, they certainly had key elements of the genre done exceptionally well. The Ulysses submarine gives off some heavy 20,000 Leagues vibes, the skills of the crew could match those of the Enterprise, and do we even have to mention the ferocity of the Leviathan?
A mission to explore a loss civilization, impressive technology ahead of its time, a battle with a giant monster, a race of strange — dare we say, "alien"—  beings; these are all the makings of a sci-fi epic and Disney nailed them every time. Though they are common tropes of the genre, they're treated with reverence. They are the foundation with which Disney told this incredible story.
9 Call Out the Crew
Tumblr media
Milo Thatch, though ambitious and eager, couldn't tackle this job alone. The film is absolutely packed with memorable characters that any viewers can easily invest in and identify with. From the experienced and eccentric crew of the Atlantis expedition to the tribe of Atlanteans themselves, characters of this move are some of the most fascinating and developed Disney has made.
Milo, Kida, Vinnie, Mole, and all the rest are visually and individually engrossing in their design and delivery. We want to see and spend more time with them, which keeps us locked in. You can't win an audience on Leviathans alone, after all.
8 Lore of the Lost
Tumblr media
In the first 10-12 minutes of the film, the viewer has a basic idea of the Atlantean culture and the plight of the lost city. The story of Atlantis is presented to us in an epic yet tangible way. Right from the beginning, Disney shows us the fall of Atlantis instead of just having Milo lecture us on the subject. It makes us want to learn and experience with the rest of the characters. After seeing a mighty and advanced civilization fall into the ocean, you better believe we're hooked.
7 Lost in a Story
Tumblr media
Two elements that help make Atlantis so great are its storytelling and its writing. Before the Ulysses even touches the water, we know we're in for an incredible adventure. And the fun doesn't just stop there.
RELATED: 5 Live-Action Disney Remakes In Development (And 5 Films That Deserve One)
Along with Milo, we're thrust into this grand expedition for the lost civilization. With some of the most mature, gripping, and thrilling storytelling elements seen in a Disney flick, Atlantis has all the epic scope and story of a novel from Verne, Wells, or Bradbury.
6 The People Under the Seas
Tumblr media
Disney's presentation of Atlantean culture is perhaps one of their most interesting creations. Think about the task the writers and animators had to accomplish. They had to build an entire civilization and race of people that corresponded to the multicultural myths of Atlantis. That's no easy feat.
Their tribal tattoos, hybrid architecture, and aquatic-themed technology are impressive and intriguing, giving them a believable yet original appearance in form and culture. We can understand why Milo stayed behind to help them recover their ways of life. Out of all the interpretations of the myth, Disney's is probably the most identifiable and beloved.
5 Genre-Bending
Tumblr media
The first half of the film, until the arrival in Atlantis, is almost pure sci-fi/steampunk. With the giant machines, stylistic technology and battle with the Leviathan, the film is a smart and creative adventure. When the Atlanteans are introduced with their mystical crystal, majestic city, and strange culture, it becomes almost like a trip to Rivendell.
RELATED: 10 Best Forgotten Disney Films
There are some films that push the limits of what their genre can be. With Atlantis, Disney not only bends their genre but blends it into something beautiful. That being said, we'd be lying if we said we couldn't see the seam in the film where the sci-fi meets the fantasy. It's a blissful marriage of genres that complement each other beautifully.
4 Behind the Mic
Tumblr media
Not only are the characters some of the best for their genre, but the cast that brings them to life are some of the biggest names in nerd culture. Michael J. Fox, John Mahoney, Jim Varney, Corey Burton, and Don Novello are just a few of the actors that help bring these characters to life.
With an eclectic cast featuring stars of Back to the Future, Frasier, and Saturday Night Live, you might assume such a strange combination would be a mixed bag of hit-and-miss. You'd also be wrong. The team behind the characters of Atlantis not only bleed seamlessly into their roles, we forget we're listening to famous voices.
3 Geeked Out
Tumblr media
Most geeky leads undergo a dramatic transformation from scrawny nerd into hero. This does not apply to the cunning linguist, Milo Thatch. He remains the geek throughout the film, being just as overzealous about history as one of his kind might be over comic books. What makes Milo stand out is that he is consistent and also realistic.
RELATED: Disney’s Unofficial Princesses, Ranked
The difference between Milo Thatch and someone like Peter Parker is that while both are brilliant intellects, it's this very skill that Milo wields as a weapon. It's his understanding of Atlantis that saves the day, not physical ability or a radioactive spider-bite. He is still the nerd of the group, but he's rewarded for his passions.
2 Mature Morals
Tumblr media
Most Disney films are harped on for their blatant moral codes. Speak from your heart, be true to yourself, believe in your dreams. All those adages are well and good, but they're not going to affect an adult audience much. Atlantis, however, mixes things up by showing the repercussions of capitalistic greed and the pillaging of ancient artifacts.
Admit it, we don't often think about the consequences of extreme excavation and archaeological digs. Consider how many royal tombs and temples have been ransacked all in the name of science. Not to mention those who benefit from the plunder. It's a thought-provoking message not expected from Disney.
1 Not Just for Kids
Tumblr media
Atlantis is a sci-fi epic with a gripping narrative, mature morals, and concrete characters. But upon a further rewatch, we realized that this was a Disney flick geared more for adults than for kids. The kids can certainly enjoy it, but the only thing that keeps it from being a film for adults is the animation.
This was Disney's attempt at an animated film for a more mature audience. It's more dramatic, heavier, and atmospheric than any Disney animated feature before. Yes, it has its kid-friendly moments and goofy characters, but at its heart it's a mature and emotional adventure with a more adult audience in mind.

Back to the Future: The Animated Series, s02ep04 “Marty McFly PFC” Review and Commentary
Previous episodes linked here.
In this episode: Lots of jitterbugging, Marty accidentally joins the military, and using German words is strictly verboten.
Another green screen opening! Our good friend Doc is in the 1940s, where he's entered a jitterbug dance contest. He's having a blast watching the other competitors.
Tumblr media
A few things here...
There was a missed opportunity to have Doc's contestant number be 88.
Also, you can't just drop information about Doc apparently being able to jitterbug well enough to enter a contest and then NOT show him dancing. This is Doc Lore that shouldn't just be glossed over! The man can jitterbug??! Show. Us.
Why did this form of dance ever go out of style? I LOVE swing dancing. We should still be doing this.
Doc leads us into the cartoon by reminiscing about the time that Verne, who was taking dance lessons, accidentally entered a jitterbug contest as well in 1944.
We begin at the Hill Valley Dance Academy, where we quickly learn that Verne is not a very good dancer. He's attempting to waltz with his partner, but keeps stepping on her feet and messing up the footwork. His teacher is quite displeased with his lack of progress over the previous three weeks.
Tumblr media
Look at Vernie with his slicked back hair and fancy little outfit. Adorable.
After a terrible class, Verne goes home to beg Clara to let him quit. She tells him that it's important to finish what you start. Also! We've got a new and improved Clara this season! First of all, her character design is much better—her features aren't quite as wonky as they were at the start of season one—and she's got some new clothes! It seems that Clara has been adjusting well to living in the early 1990s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love that we never see Clara not wearing purple. The girl knows what she likes and sticks to it.
After realizing he isn't getting anywhere with trying to convince his mother, Verne goes to Doc to vent about his dance woes. Doc says that he, too, took dance lessons as a kid, and that it was, "a humiliating experience."
To help Verne out, Doc digs through a trunk for an old invention: a pair of boots that are programmed to help the wearer perform certain dances. Unfortunately, as with most of Cartoon Doc's inventions, they malfunction pretty much right away, making him dance too quickly before spinning him out of control and then exploding.
Tumblr media
Doc searches for the blueprints to repair them, but he can't find it anywhere in his files. Using a different invention to help jog his memory, Doc has a "flashback" to where he had stored the original blueprints.
We learn that Doc lived in a small apartment above a gas station in 1944, and he tells Verne a bit about World War II and all the fear and uncertainty of the time. He recalls hiding the blueprints under some clothes in a drawer just before the siren announcing a blackout sounded. This is 1944 Doc, by the way.
Tumblr media
Not sure why he has such dark hair. There was that episode last season where we met him as a four-year-old, and he had very light blond hair. By 1955, his hair is still a light blond, heading toward white. Did he dye his hair at some point? Hmm.
Anyway, Doc goes on to tell Verne that the dresser holding the blueprints was lost the next year in a fire. Verne suggests they just take a quick trip back to 1944 to nab the blueprints, but Doc doesn't want to take the risk of running into his past self. Verne is not pleased.
We cut scene to Marty, who is rummaging through the Browns' fridge like a starving man since he apparently doesn't have a family of his own to feed him. Verne promises to buy Marty a big, greasy burger if he'll go on an "errand" with him. This is enough to get Marty to agree, and he and Verne set off for 1944. And this right here is another major difference between Movie Marty and Cartoon Marty. Movie Marty wouldn't be swayed by the promise of food. That kid doesn't even need food. He'll go through all sorts of exciting and nightmarish adventures on a completely empty tank—no food, no water, no sleep. He's just built different.
After arriving, our little Chaos Duo partake in some breaking and entering and find the blueprints.
Tumblr media
Just when it looks like their errand is already done and they're in the clear, Marty and Verne are stopped by a Blackout Warden, who questions them on why they had lights on in the apartment during a scheduled blackout. Were they trying to signal enemy planes?
The warden then finds the DeLorean, which he assumes is some type of advanced weapon. He goes to inform the military while Marty and Verne take off running. The two hide out in some bushes overnight in a victory garden, and are found in the morning by a girl named Rosie and her little sister, Dorothy.
Tumblr media
We then meet Sergeant Frank Tannen, who obviously has a thing for Rosie and, in typical Tannen fashion, starts being much too forward and handsy with her. Marty intervenes, and Frank chases them for a while before they manage to get the upper hand.
But if you think that this is the end of the trouble for Marty and Vernie, you're wrong. The warden shows up then, announcing that he's placing the both of them under citizen's arrest. They take off running again, with both Frank and the warden in pursuit.
Verne, who is smart, takes cover in a movie theater. Marty, who is a doofus on a good day, runs straight into a recruiting center. For some reason, he thinks it's a restaurant?? And when he asks if people are on line for food, the guy in front of him says they'll get three square meals a day. Marty, who is still very hungry, is thrilled and asks what he has to do to get some food. He's told to sign a form, which he immediately does.
Marty has accidentally joined the Army.
Tumblr media
This all could have been avoided if he'd been able to find some food in the fridge earlier. Or even if he'd had a granola bar stashed away in his pocket or in the car.
After learning of Marty's predicament, Verne starts trying to figure out how to rescue him. While he's out in town, he runs into Rosie and Dorothy, who ask him if he'd like to come to their house for a Salisbury steak. "Nah, but a hamburger would be great!" Verne replies, promptly getting a hand clamped over his mouth by Rosie. He's informed that he shouldn't say "The H-word," or people might think he's a Nazi spy.
At their house, Dorothy asks Verne to stick around and be her partner for the jitterbug contest (if you hadn't guessed, Dorothy is Verne's dance teacher as a little girl). Verne says he can't possibly hang around; he's got to save Marty.
"You kidding?" Rosie replies. "The Army will make a man out of him."
Immediate cut to this scene:
Tumblr media
Poor guy.
Returning to the "H-word" scene for a moment, I'd like to point out that in the initial scene with Frank Tannen, he keeps using German phrases and catching himself. He calls Marty and Verne "wisenheimers" (great word that isn't used nearly enough, by the way. It means a smart-aleck/wise-guy), as well as "dummkopfs."
If people aren't supposed to be using German words, Sergeant Tannen isn't doing a very good job. Maybe...he's a spy!!
(side-note: I don't know for sure, but I'd assume Frank is Biff's uncle? Maybe he's Irving "Kid" Tannen's brother?)
Okay, back to Marty. He's—
Tumblr media
Wait, wrong piece of media.
After eating some very questionable food in the mess hall, Marty is rescued by Verne, who is dressed as a medic.
Tumblr media
They run off to the town square, where the dance contest is being held. Frank and the warden from earlier are both there searching for Marty and Verne. Marty dons a wig and poses as one of the "Anderson sisters" up on the stage, while Verne goes with Dorothy to dance. Using the power of swing-dancing, Verne and Dorothy basically beat up Frank and the warden. Verne also discovers that he really likes to dance!
Tumblr media
The pair win first place in the contest, and Marty and Verne then steal the DeLorean back from the men who were guarding it and return home.
After seeing the blueprints, Doc says he doesn't approve of the trip to the past, but it's okay as long as they didn't interact with anyone or interfere with anything. Verne and Marty trade mischievous smiles, then Verne runs off to his dance class.
We return to Real Doc, who leads us into a fascinating lesson about center of mass, and shows us a very interesting experiment demonstrating how men and women have different centers of mass (due to the way a woman's hips are positioned), thus allowing women to easily perform a maneuver that involves taking a certain number of steps back, leaning forward with the top of your head against a wall, picking up a chair, and standing straight up—something the majority of men apparently can't do. Here are gifs of a woman (in a spectacularly 90s outfit) and Bill Nye demonstrating.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I actually was so interested in this that I searched up several videos of people doing it on youtube. All the women could do it easily, but only one guy could, lol.
Looks like a fun game to play at a party or family get-together!
This was an enjoyable episode. Lots of silly Marty and Verne shenanigans. I would like to start seeing more of Clara and Jules, though. They're not utilized nearly enough in this cartoon. I think that's because they both have too much common sense, so it's easier to leave them out of the picture and let Doc, Verne, and Marty run wild.
Join me next time to see Marty and Verne throw caution to the wind and let Verne's friend in on the secret of time travel.
