Harvey talked I’m Totally Fine, Blue Beetle, and WWDITS with ScreenRant. He discusses the origins of DJ Twisted Bristle’s glow jacket, his excitement about the Latinx representation in Blue Beetle, and his appreciation for Shadows cosplayers. At the time of the interview, Shadows season 5 was halfway through filming!

Don't you have to know anything to write for sites like this??

Dick Grayson was the sole Robin 1940 to 1983. Tim Drake was the sole Robin from 1990 to 2009 (though he did try on the suit late in 1989).
The fact that Tim and Damian, since a few years back, both go by Robin, will complicate things in the future when you want to count who's been Robin for the longest time in comics (though considering hardly a year goes by when Dick is not Robin in some media, I'd argue he’ll always have been Robin for the longest time). But 1990 is still less than 43 years ago, last time I checked.

Timothy "Jace" Fox as Batman has just had a 18 issues long run of his own comic (which seems to have sold badly, but that's another story).

For what it’s worth, these are as far as I know the only figures about how comics sell that are available nowadays. But even if I am Batman wasn't a hit, the writer should know “Jace” had a comics for a year and a half...

I’m generally neutral to the possibility of a Din and Bo-Katan romance, but I am annoyed that Screenrant published an article about how they shouldn’t be in a romance. It’s not so much that they were against the romance, it’s that their reason could be boiled down to, “I don’t like love stories”. It’s one of those articles where the author presents their personal opinion and preferences as a matter-of-fact, which is a major problem for geek journalism in general.

A rant for freelance writers
My fellow writers, you are being grossly underpaid. I’ve been freelance writing intermittently for over a decade, and during that time the rate for freelance writing has dropped. Yes, you read that correctly. Dropped.
I’ve returned to freelance writing during the pandemic because I need the schedule flexibility and work from home perks (thank you, health issues). I was offered a role that paid $10 per article. Yes. $10. I have over a decade of experience and have worked with some pretty big company names, and yet I was offered the same rate I was given as a new college grad with literally no experience a decade ago - and that was considered painfully low back then. In 2013 I made $10/article, but by 2014 I was making $50-$75/article. By 2015 I was averaging $100 per assignment.
Needless to say, I declined the $10 role.
Content farming websites like Comic Book Resources, ScreenRant - basically every publication under Valnet, amongst others - are taking advantage of you. Here are the rates I was told for an entertainment writer role at CBR. Again. I’ve been doing this for over 10 years and have a Master’s degree. “The compensation rates for this position are based on a combination of rates for pay-per-post (PPP) and pay-per-view (PPV). PPV rates are applied after every 1,000 views. News: $10 ($10 PPP) + $0.33 per 1k views Flash News: $5 ($5 PPP) + $0.25 per 1k views” When pressed for the average views per article, I was told anywhere between 2,000 to 200,000. Which means you can be earning as little as $10.66 per article, while $76/per is the top end. I made $75/article in 2014 with just over a year of experience. The math ain’t mathing. This issue isn’t exclusive to Valnet, either. Time and time again I’m seeing roles for writers listed at minimum wage. Some of the higher paying ones are still only offering $25 an hour regardless of experience level. Yet they receive hundreds, if not thousands of applicants.
We can argue that this is just another symptom of wage stagnation, inflation, the recession we’re in that may or may not be manufactured. But, I worry that the rise of AI has led to the devaluation of the writer, much as it threatens the digital artist. Why pay actual humans what an AI will do for free? Just plug in the topic and some old articles and watch as your content is repurposed into something fresh. No one will be able to tell.
In the age of AI everything, the economy has come to undervalue good writers. Our creativity. Our humanity.
I do not have a solution here, except to suggest that folks fucking stop working for Valnet because they’re exploitative. Even then, I don’t hold it against you if you do work for them. As I sit here filling out applications for roles that pay far less than my ending wage at my last position, I’m forced to swallow my pride simply because times are tough. Jobs are harder to come by, even though ‘everyone is hiring’. The longterm effects of COVID are real, and limiting. I have no solution, but I want you all to know that you deserve better. Your time and expertise have value. Writing is hard.
You deserve fair compensation.

@loveroflokiforpoeticjustice sent me this and the article has many good points! (Clearly SR is going through a redemption arc :D ) Things that we've been saying since 2017(OK which one of you wrote this? :D ) and finally people have come to see them. I don't agree with everything in the article but there are some really good parts that I like to quote here too.
Yet, while Thor: Ragnarok was an entertaining movie, it wasn't a Thor movie. Nor a Loki one. It's telling that the Rotten Tomatoes audience score sits six points lower than the critics' score; almost always, especially for superhero movies, that dynamic is flipped. Waititi has said many times over the years that he didn't bother to read the Thor comics beforehand and he completely ignored the mythology. It made for a fresh slate to work with, which was needed. The problem is that it went too far in that direction. There was nothing in the movie that was inherently about Thor; it might have been a movie with any character plugged into his role. Outside of leveling up his powers, there was no growth for him, no continuation of the arc he'd had over the first two Thor movies and two Avengers movies to that point. Character development was thrown completely out the window.
I don't think Thor franchise needed a fresh slate. It was one of the most unique and rich universes of MCU. They just needed better writing and more interesting stories and there was more than enough basis for it from the previous movies. Instead of building up on that, they totally destroyed everything that came before.
As for Loki, God of Mischief, he was handled even more poorly. Where he'd always been a villain to reluctant ally in movies past, Thor: Ragnarok reduced him to the butt of the joke. Never is this more evident than the elevator scene. It was the one time in the movie where Thor and Loki actually had a meaningful moment. It might have been a transformative one for Loki, too, as Thor finally admitting he no longer had faith his adopted brother could be redeemed and that they should part ways clearly hit Loki harder than he had anticipated – perhaps it wasn't what he wanted, after all. However, the poignancy was barely allowed to register before the movie was onto the next joke, this one involving their "get help" scheme that, as Loki pointed out, was humiliating for him.
I think I've talked enough about why the elevator scene wasn't a good and meaningful moment for Thor and Loki's relationship as what Thor says is condemning Loki for not being like Thor, not following what Thor expected of him and basically for who he is, and Thor is also dismissing Loki's grievances in a way. But I generally agree with the main point of this paragraph.
Though Loki redeemed himself at the end and Thor learned to harness the power within, it was, in many ways, a regression for them both. At the very least, they merely treaded water. The characters were there to serve the jokes rather than the other way around, with character exploration and the established mythology both being sacrificed on the altar of the next punchline. Thor: Ragnarok was a great deal of fun, but not much else. While that was fine for a reset, Waititi's next Thor movie, Thor: Love & Thunder, needs to remember character continuity matters, too.
Considering what MCU's been doing in phase 3&4 I don't think they really care about continuity or character arcs anymore. Just jokes. So I won't hold my breath.

“I think, for the sake of this movie as a film, we really just decided to tell this story, and maybe when we get out into the cosmos you might... I mean, we're literally meeting Thanos' actual brother at the end of the film, and I think there's room for Eros - well, Harry [Styles] - to have a conversation about that.”
“I think that Starfox is a lot responsible for why Thanos is the way he is, to have that... all jokes aside, to have this perfect brother who can make anyone fall in love with him? It does something to you. So I hope we get to see a little bit more of that in Number 2.”
- Kaz Firpo (Eternals writer) on Eros’ future in the MCU! (9 November 2021)

Dear Screen Rant,
Please, for the love of God, don't confuse Yvonne "Y" Gabena for AniPoké Serena. Even though they're two incarnations of Serena, the differences between them are as evident as night and day.
Sincerely, someone who wishes that AniPoké Serena was anywhere near half as good as Yvonne "Y" Gabena.

I love Ryan George so much.
Writer: And Loki's like, "Are they going to leave all these people to die on Lamentis?"
Producer: What does he care? He killed like a thousand people in New York.
Writer: Sir please, he watched a video, that means he cares about this stuff now.

Article posted 2021-Dec-02.
I’m intrigued by what they’ll keep and what they’ll change for this adaptation, it looks like they might be aging Rowan down a bit?, bc they refer to her as a young neurosurgeon. Also should be interesting to see whether there will be any crossover, since there are a few books that crossover these 2 series, particularly with the Rowan/Lestat canon(ish?) ship.
^Also would like to know what this image represents, it gives me odd Romeo and Juliet vibes?
“After Interview with the Vampire season 1, AMC will debut Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches show. The series is based on the Lives of the Mayfair Witches, the name given to Rice's trilogy of books. Last year, AMC acquired the rights to 18 of Rice's novels, including those in the Mayfair Witches trilogy and the extensive The Vampire Chronicles.
In a statement, AMC revealed Mayfair Witches has received an eight-episode order, with season 1 set to premiere late in 2022. It will debut after Interview with the Vampire, another series based on Rice's novels. Mayfair Witches focuses on a young neurosurgeon who discovers she is the heir to a family of witches. While struggling with her new powers, she will also be forced to contend with a sinister presence that has plagued her family for generations. Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford will serve as executive producers and writers on Mayfair Witches, with Spalding also the showrunner. Check out a joint statement on the series from Spalding and Ashford below:
The world of witches has fascinated and terrified for centuries, and yet Anne Rice’s particular lens on witches explored something new altogether – women who are powerful, and often brutal, and always committed to subverting our current power structures. We are so excited to join our partners AMC and Gran Via Productions in making this mysterious and provocative world come to life.
AMC wasted no time getting shows based on Rice's material into development, showing the network takes building an interconnected world seriously and sees it as a priority. No casting announcements have been made for Mayfair Witches, but further details will be forthcoming as the series develops. As both Anne Rice and her son Christopher will serve as executive producers on all AMC projects based on her books, it seems likely both Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches will maintain the spirit of her beloved works.”
