If you had to describe crust and all its various subgenres, how would you? Defining sounds, aesthetic, etc all wrapped up in one. What makes something crust

This actually hits on a vary interesting part of the crust scene to me. "Crust punk" is more then just crust too me. It's all sorts of music from all over punk/hardcore/metal. D beat is a good example, d beat isn't crust but every crustie loves d beat. Same for grind, uk/us hardcore, death/black metal, noise punk. So describing the crust scene and describe actual crust punk music (as apposed to music crustie like) is two different situations

AS FOR A ANSWER the core crust sound that all other come from its that first wave uk/us thrash and first wave bm, the Bristol style anarcho punk (ie disorder, chaos uk etc), discharge and it's clones (crucifix, disattack, anti cimex), and the more out there anarcho punk like antisect, dirt, conflict.

For individual sounds it's heavy influence on a fuzz and gain heavy guitar play simpl punk riffs with a almost thrash sound to em.Bass is vary gangly, distorted and low for both guitar and bass there both distorted to the point you can't hear the individual strums of the guitar. Drums have a high snare and cymbols with low toms to make the drum fills stand out. Lots of rolls,crash cymbol hits and odd poly rhythms. And the high hat is played open instead of closed. And finally the vocals can be done all sorts of way bouncing from crass style rhythmic saying of words, metal style growls, hardcore yells, to even singing (at least in the the us scene for some reason), focusing on angry and gloomy political topics taken spoken about in a broad view, less personal and more third person

First distinction in style (excluding scenes crustie like but aren't crust proper, agin dbeat, grind, etc)

Stenchcore: much more metal, more odd rhythms, and more riffs over speed. Many times slower, more intricate, cleaner, & atmospheric guitar. Also tends to describe its politics in a more esoteric style (see deviated instinct, life, sword wielder)

Crasher crust: uk early crust with a more frantic style. More quick, jumpy. Less atmospheric and moody guitars and bass, focusing on more extreme noisy & and that high guitar low bass sound. And a more hardcore yelling vocals then growls (see gloom, atrocious madness, death dust extractor)

Stadium crust: heavy Scandinavian dbeat influences, much clearer less distorted sounding bass and guitar. More pushing drum and less fills, and more intricate riffs (see wolf brigade, victims, dis fear)

Neo crust: lots of melodic but dark riffs. break downs of slower sludge metal riffs, simpler black metal influenced drums. Plus more slower atmospheric sounds. (See his hero is gone, habak, ekkaia)

Blackend crust: early uk crust and neo crust with a heavy influence of bm (as the name suggests) heavy on rhythm. Simple drawn out riffs, less fuzz on guitar and bass (see iskra, dodsrit, martyrdöd)

I know there's more genres but I need to get this out so I'll put the others in a re blog plus soon the genres get messy and muddy as far as hard line differences

Unearthed, Reborn by QueenOfTheQuill

Quill writes the best dialogue. The words just flow so organically, and they have such a nice balance of humor and sincerity. Cannot stress enough how funny their character interactions are. I'm also a sucker for Everlasting Trio, and they write it so well.

We're Longing for Daylight by AKelaNakamura

Akela has such a masterful grasp on writing emotion and tone. I love how she describes emotion so much, and weaves it into lore with ectoplasm and ghosts. She has several other DPxDC and DP fics to enjoy, all of it slaps.

Shovel Talk by SummersSixEcho

This is a dead tired (Danny/Tim) fic and I love how Summers crafted their relationship for it. The fic is so funny, with lots of fun puns. It's just two boyfriends being goofy and going through awkward situations and I love it dearly. I love all of Summers' DPxDC works, and she has great DP only ones too!

This is one of the first completed fics I read for the crossover, and it still lives in my head rent free. It's complete, very well written, and the story is interesting throughout with a bunch of twists and turns.

Premeditation by Chromatographic

Super interesting fic with neat lore throughout. I love the dynamic between Danny and his friends and Jazz in it, with the roles they've carved out. The general plotting nature of the story is very neat.

Noise and Light by TheWritingOwl

I'm so soft for this fic, it's SO sweet. Deaged fics have a special place in my heart, and I love the emotions throughout this fic. It's ripe with family feels and Owl describes it all beautifully.

Family Friction by Halfagone

Halfa has SUCH a prolific library of DPxDC fics and all of it is quality. I need to read more of them. Tis oneshot in particular has a special place in my heart. The premise is just so fun and goofy and I love how it's executed.

Build-A-Boyfriend by NightShiftShenanigans

I spent my entire time reading this fic with a goofy smile because it is just insanely fun and cute, with great dialogue throughout. I love it.

A Halloween in Amity by spite_sapphic_starlight

I love this poly ship, I love the scenario, I love the dynamics and the dialogue and-- it's just a good time. Just the occult shop alone is enough reason to love this.

Knight of the Boyking by Milaley

I love the angst in this one and the general setup from the beginning. The start of it has such a hook and it's just great throughout from there.

The Curious Case of D. Grayson by brothebro

I LOVE the Everlasting Trio dynamic in this fic and the shenanigans throughout. God, there's so many shenanigans and they're all great. Just a thousand misunderstandings and the domino effect of each lol. I love it.

Afterimage by TorScrawls

The descriptions in this one are just plain wicked. It still really stands out to me, as just being such a neat way to describe how mortals perceive Danny and his powers.

Close Enough to be Whole Again by hailsatanacab

Literally the twin fic that inspired me to write my own. The fic has insanely good descriptions and carries emotion so well. I love Hail's writing style a lot.

Vacation Crashers by Imp_y

I love everything about this one from the premise to how the story unfolds to the conclusion. This was another one of the first finished long DPxDC fics I read and I still love it dearly.

Voices That They Left by catmiint

This one has such an intriguing build up, with a lot of concerning things boiling beneath the surface. I'm not caught up on it atm, but I need to fix that soon because the story is really neat.

Liminal Familiarity by isitcowboytimes

This fic goes heavy on the angst and is wonderful written. There's this like really melancholic, liminal feel throughout the fic and it really sticks out to me.

To Join the Whispers by ayamari_no_goshi

Another one of the first completed long fics I read for the crossover (I think the actual first, based on bookmark date). I feel like this fic was the first one for a lot of people, and I definitely think it set the bar for Jason and ectoplasm shenanigans.

Ghosts Don't Go to Highschool by Evandarya

This is the first DPxDC fic in my bookmark history and I love it. I love the premise, the underlying story, the building relationship between Danny and Tim. I've had the pleasure of betaing for the most recent chapters and it's been a blast also!

Have You Heard of Danny Wayne? by FortunateCookie

This one has fantastic dialogue and I love the building shenanigans in it. All around a fun read, especially the chatfic portion.

Memories Lost in Time by MidnightsFury

The building lore and story in this one is so neat, I can't wait to see where it goes. The fact that it's a twin fic too has me vibrating with excitement, just waiting for the shenanigans to really settle in. I don't care how long it takes these nerds to find each other, I'm here for the shenanigans.

I would add more, but I really need to get some sleep before I pass out at my desk lol. I also plan to make a separate list for DP and non-DC crossover fics I love too!

College AU! Poly! Vash x (Reader) x Knives: Pre Relationship Headcannons/Drabbles (SFW)

IM ALIVE - Actually I just got extremely backed up between work and playing Persona 5R( Very important activities) Sorry if these are rusty. Have some word vomit.

You were originally a classmate of Nai's and had come over a couple times for group projects. Vash was surprised finding out Nai had found a human he didn't have problems with

Nai only admited to Vash he tolerated your presence, but the way you came over an hour later to help cook dinner says otherwise

Vash understood pretty quickly what "tolerated" meant after you came in with a box of cookies (Nai told you how to gain his brothers trust and you took it as a challenge to make the best batch ever)

Wanting to interact with Vash but he's got a golden lab personality and if you're shy it's probably overwhelming

Nai could probably handle a high energy person, but a low energy ambivert is probably this guy's best match

Visits came more frequently, and eventually you were practically a part-time resident

Movie Nights, Hobby Days, Cooking Lessons, Chores ( Both the boys always tried stoping you to no avail), sometimes you'd come over just to exist in their presence and talk

Vash made you keep some of your things at their place just in case you ever slept over. At least twice a week you were an honorary couch crasher, but Vash did joke about you sharing the bed with him (he's not joking come snuggle him)

Nai became more soft around you and it would seem to brighten up his mood when you walked through the door. Vash would tease him constantly about it when you were out of earshot

Nai started letting you hang out in his room and he would play his electric piano softly while you were curled up in his bed (probs a great time to study, read, write, draw, and the nap is probably magnificent)

Touch was rare but it did happen from time to time, hand on your back, a teasing head pat, both of you laying on your stomachs side by side elbows touching. Nothing too close for his comfort.

Vash loved being around you and likely starting initiating physical affection first. He'd put his head on your lap and ramble, throw his arms around your shoulders, lean on you during movies, etc..

Vash took you on "fake dates" but really it was just while he loves hanging out with his usual friend group, sometimes he just needs one on one time because he enjoys your company

Y'all became each other's biggest cheerleader

Nai would watch his brother in envy, but he enjoyed seeing both of you happy nonetheless. He wishes he was closer but has a hard time trying to act on his emotions or how he wants to convey them.

After a particularly stressful day he had walked into your apartment while you were on the couch and just layed himself on you? No words, no build up, just walked in like he owned the place.

Nai feels like the kind of guy that's all or nothing and depending on the situation it's either or. You gotta sculpt him a little to get out of this mindset probably.

Progress I guess? Nai didn't want to talk but pretty much melted when you started scratching at his scalp and undercut. You got the jist of his issues and worked your hands through the knotted up muscle on his back. He wrapped his arms around your midsection and just stayed there in silence for almost 3 hours. Honestly he probably wanted to stay awake but kept drifting in and out of sleep every 15 to 20 mins

Goes home after you make dinner, has an absolute conniption fit because he shouldn't be acting like this. Feels like he's taking advantage of your kindness constantly, especially after that. Takes his anger out and yells at Vash. (Nai hasn't yelled at him like that in ages, so Vash leaves the apartment to avoid it)

Cue Vash showing up 20mins later at your place, asking if he could stay a couple days. Of course you said yes, but....your couch cannot fit a whole Vash. BED SHARING

Asks your boundaries before hand and y'all were down for cuddling. Woke up the next morning practically glued together, his head in the crook of your neck and a leg and arm thrown over you. Dear lord he's probably so warm, you somehow get out of his grip and he makes some disappointed noises.

You make him breakfast while he's still asleep, and when he wakes up to you cooking pancakes in the sunlight he swears he could marry you. (This man makes me so domestic)

Accidentally says the last part out loud and gets all embarrassed

Y'all lounge around watching shitty tv or playing video games in your PJs for the rest of the morning

TIME TO FACE THE CONSEQUENCES

Nai sends you a text asking if you two could talk, says he's also going to apologize to his brother in a little bit. You tell him to man up and apologize first beforehand then talking is on the table

You go get lunch while Vash and Nai talk it out. Nai ended up admitting to Vash he has feelings for you. Vash went "No shit really?.......me too". Both of them have a whatever happens happens mindset about the situation. Feel like both of them wouldn't want to rush a relationship with you and would probably keep it to platonic/verging on romantic attention for a hot while. Sharing isn't even on the table yet and Nai is definitely the more possessive one out of the brothers.

This doesn't mean they're not gonna be affectionate, but they will respect each other wanting alone time with you. Along with not making each other feel like the whole ordeal is a contest on who's better.

Now just off the top of your head you can easily work out that all together there are 14 physically possible ships (not counting contradicting ones like Shadowmoth and Mayura since only one can have a miraculous at a time) Gabenath, Gabeyura, Gabelyst, Hawknath, Collectnath, Shadownath, Scarletnath, Hawkyura, Collectyura, Scarletyura, Hawklyst, Collectlyst, Shadowlyst, Scarletlyst. So right off the bat, we have a tetradecagon for the villains. Complicated enough, right? Wrong

If you wanna crack it up like some fanfics do, then we have Gabemoth, Shadowgabe, Scarletgabe, Collectgabe, Nathyura, Nathlyst, Shadowhawk, Scarlethawk, Collecthawk and Mayuralyst. Now we have a grand total of 25 god forsaken sides. A pentaicosagon. I can’t possibly do anything else could I? You’d be incorrect yet again. What about poly ships?

Using this lovely equation, I’m about to answer that for you. That number bumps up to a nice round 244. It’s so big and so precise there’s not even a name for the shape anymore. But I’m not done yet. I still have the math to do for the repetitions. By the end of this, we will know how many possible ships there are with the same person included multiple times. Aka the shenanigans you see so often on ao3 and wattpad.

With repetition for poly ships, there are 12,617 new combinations. So a 12,861 sided shape. You heard me. All the way up to the base number of 8 people, there is 12,861 repetitive ways to ship Gabenath. Now I must be done, I hear you say. You never learn. Now PV Gabe and PV Natters are being added into the mixture, this gives us two numbers. The non repetitive shape at 1,013 sides. Or the chaotic type, where we allow for those other types to seep through. The highest number of ways you can ship Gabenath in a sample size of ten is 184,705. There is almost 200,000 ways to ship Gabenath at its core folks.

What about not at its core? With the little bits added in from cannon. Like the hologram from Party Crasher? If we give Holo-Gabe some love too, we now have 2,246 sides to our beloved shape. But with our crack minds, and the power of the miraculous, we can have a grand total of 701,064 cursed possibilities all together.

That also includes all mini tales coming out (including a halloween special coming out the 31st) and they are going to be rereleasing it here before the end of the year on multie platforms. (Romours seem to be switch, PC, and mobile) they just released chapter four out of eight of Errant Kingdom. And working on call me under, set in a eldritch influenced 1920's. All games have poly routes, nonbinaries and woman to romance.

We all should know about the arcana (if not please play it's beautiful) but do you know Nix Hydra also has an app like lovestruck? Called Fictif it has several different story lines and beautiful art.

A great game I also have play is called Ebon light. You like elves? You like broody elves? You like ancient secrets lost to time? This is a game for you. Please play it.

How about an adult game? Check out cute demon crashers. A short adorable game where a bunch of incubi and a succubus show up in your home and respect you and just love to hang out. You can choose to have sex with one and it is very NSFW. Minors please don't play.

Mr. Love queens choice does not have a female route but holy shit is it still pretty good. First half is a cute trying to save your father's production company. Other half is sadness and tears but still so amazing. They are still ongoing with the story but it's getting good.

Also guess whose an amazing story teller whose games I've been playing since the- oh gods- seventh grade? @rinmarugames. She is working on season two of oathbreaker which is a beautiful game about warlocks and sacrifice. The world she has created is vast and the story is gripping. She also has two versions, NSFW and SFW. She is also adding a poly route if I remember correctly and has three woman to romance. She also has several other games in the work and Acension which is one of her oldest games that sadly might not be playable here soon with flash going away. But she is working on remaking it. How about a text based game where you can customize yourself as a monster and go in depth with it? How about choosing who you will romance genders? Then @smokeandvelvet-cog is a great game. Still in the works also but so many options and choices that I still haven't done everything.

I've started the wings too but didn't take a picture. It's "lowest poly - maximum details" you can have. Since with Chat and HM miraculouses I started with very high poly then reduced and had some issues going on I decided to try this approach now that I have enough practice to be able to do it. There are some imperfections due to the low poly, but not that visible considering the size.

Apparently there are 3 models in the show for Queen Bee active miraculous (the first version with less details that Zag is selling, which I'm not going to do), the version during the transformation with the gold stripes between the yellow and black ones (as I did) and the one that's most seen now, without the gold stripes. I decided to make just the transformation version since in theory the miraculous is just one and animation mistakes due to different studios occur.

Also, Idk if I saw it right, but Gabriel in Party crasher had the ring in the ring finger, not in the middle one as usual (and as I did in his set). THEY LIED TO ME. I always wondered why he wore the wedding ring there considering how obsessed he's with Emilie. Or it's a thing to do when you lose your spouse?
