Mectech Palm Oil Refinery Plant- A Legacy of Innovation and Excellence
Oil processing, often known as refining, is the conversion of crude oil into usable products such as petrol, diesel, kerosene, and other petrochemicals. The refining process consists of multiple essential steps, including separation, conversion, treatment, blending, and other refining processes.
Oil refining is a complicated and energy-intensive process that necessitates advanced equipment and technology. It is an important link in the worldwide energy supply chain, providing fuel for transportation, heating, and electricity generation, as well as raw materials for the petrochemical sector.
Of all the oil refining and processing industries, palm oil refinery is the most important sector as it is a very complex oil and for its production it requires good quality plant.
Palm Oil Refining
Palm oil refining industries are among the world's most important manufacturing sectors, and palm oil has grown to become the world's most traded vegetable oil. Indonesia and Malaysia are the main producers, with exporting enterprises for crude palm oil.
Crude palm oil is derived from palm oil's mesocarp. Extracted Crude Palm oil contains some undesirable contaminants, which must be eliminated partially or fully throughout the palm oil refining process to produce good edible oil with increased stability and keepability.
Palm oil is currently a popular cooking oil in many tropical nations, including South East Asia, Africa, and sections of Brazil. Its popularity is attributed due to its higher heat resistance as compared to any other vegetable oil and also because of its lower cost and good oxidative stability.
Palm's unique and finest quality is that it generates two forms of oil: palm oil and palm kernel oil.
Palm oil is derived from the flesh of the palm fruit, whereas palm kernel oil is extracted from the seeds or kernel of the palm fruit using the palm kernel oil process.
Palm oil is derived from fresh palm fruit flesh through pressing and centrifugation at a palm oil facility. To avoid deterioration of Palm Oil, it must be extracted from fresh palm fruit. As a result, countries that cultivate palm oil remove it to prevent it from deteriorating. The crude palm oil's colour is yellow-red or dark yellow, and its taste is sweet.
The crude palm oil extracted contains undesired contaminants, which hurt the oil's physical appearance, quality, oxidative stability, and shelf life. To eliminate the aforementioned pollutants, the oil is sent to a palm oil refinery plant, where it is refined, bleached, and deodorised. After refining the palm oil, the RBD oil is sent to the fractionation unit to extract palm olein and stearin.
Palm Oil Refinery Plant
Palm oil refining is divided into the sections below:
In most palm oil refining plants, the refining process is a vital stage in the manufacture of edible oils and fats. The finished product's properties that must be monitored include flavour, shelf life, stability, and colour.
Crude vegetable oil can be refined in two ways: physically or chemically. During crude palm oil refining, FFA is removed to obtain a maximum FFA level of 0.1%.
Physical refining typically has a smaller environmental impact than chemical refining.
Bleaching edible oils and fats is an important step in the refining process for crude oils and fat. It does eliminate numerous contaminants, which hurt the physical look and quality of the oil. Generally, the oil is taken to the bleaching section first, and the gums are treated with phosphoric acid so that they may be separated in the pressure leaf filter after bleaching.
During this stage, the adsorptive activity of bleaching earth removes trace metal complexes like iron and copper, colouring pigments, phosphatides, and oxidative products.
This bleached oil is next filtered through industrial filters such as a filter press, a hermetically sealed vertical leaf pressure filter, a plate, or a frame filter.
Mectech's unique bleacher design keeps the bleaching earth in full suspension, resulting in no dead zones and lower utility use. Mectech Bleacher guarantees high-quality oil because the bleaching procedure for crude palm oil is carried out under controlled conditions.
Mectech also excels in supplying facilities for rice bran oil processing refinery in India and abroad. Mectech Rice Bran Oil Extraction Machinery in India and abroad offers the following advantages.

How is cooking oil refined?
Browse through the internet and you will find loads of blogs, reels, and videos talking about how one should completely avoid refined vegetable oils and use cold pressed oils only instead, for a host of reasons that rang from containing harmful chemicals to being loaded with trans fats. Makes one wonder why cooking oil manufacturers would put in the time, efforts, resources, and money to process…

Hey! Hope you’re doing well this fine day~ I had a cute idea if u just wanna hear me rant about it.
So imagine teaching Killer a new pasta recipe whether that is a new sauce or new way to cook it and making it for him and watching him literally LIGHT UP with pure glee over how good it is. I say this as I’ve made my grandma’s spaghetti sauce which is STRAIGHT UP ADDICTING every time I make it and gobble it all up. Like the reader can be like a straw hat or kid pirate who is like hey I have this really yummy pasta recipe if you wanna try and afterwards she keeps on exchanging recipes with Killer and lowkey he in love with her mwahahaha (cause as they say in Princess and the Frog “the quickest way to a man’s heart, is through his stomach”). And she cooks it for him since he is always cooking 🥹🥹🥹
Also! I do have to add how much IM OBSESSED with the recent Hey Doc Drabble. Idk if you saw my tags but man I was GOING THROUGH IT. All the sweet nicknames and just the pure desperation for doc to be okay like 😭😭😭 and POOR HEAT AND BUBBLEGUM LIKE AWWWW I need a part 2 to that or SOMETHING just to see an aftermath if you will. Wire calling them “honey” had me WEAK.
Alright imma head out now, have a marvelous day/night 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️
How did I miss this 😭. Thank you for your beautiful compliments on the 'Hey Doc' series. It's been an absolute joy to write. Reading through tags and reblogs are my favourite: especially when it's as enthusiastic as yours has been. You're so much fun, and I very much appreciate the time you take to read and go through my silly things. I can't write a full fic, but I hope this little drabble satiates the need of cooking with Killer 🖤.
Pasta
Masterlist Here
Word Count: mini-fic, just a little one.
Themes: Killer x reader, fluff, cooking, food, Killer is in awe, you are cooking, and I am hungry.
The one thing he hasn't managed to perfect is a pure, unadulterated Marinara. Anything to do with crushed tomato he finds too acidic, and over compensates with far too much salt to cut the tannins. He's tried everything: more onion, less herbs, malted brown sugar, refining his own salt by storing sea water on the oven, everything. He just can't seem to get it right.
Killer and pasta: his one weakness.
He would never admit it, but he has been attempting to perfect each recipe he comes upon. Pesto is all made from scratch: crushed fresh basil, the purest of virgin olive oils, a parmesan wheel with crispy salt crystals, oven toasted pine nuts, cloves of bulbed garlic, everything perfected by his skill in his kitchen. His pesto pasta is better than Sanji's, and the curly-browed chef is both impressed and intimidated by it.
Watching from a safe distance as you bounce gleefully within the dominion of the kitchen, he hunches his back and places his whiskered chin over his laced fingertips. He was unsure as to why you offered to cook for the crew, but your enthusiasm had him step aside to watch you work. It was the initial confession of homesickness that did it for him. Knowing food can aid in emotional regulation and comfort, he was more than happy to watch from his position sitting at the kitchen island.
And then the smell hit him.
The sweetness of roasting tomatoes, onion, garlic, and the herbal aromatics of thyme, rosemary and sage. The soft waft had his heart swell and beat in his chest and eyes twinkle in curiousity. Stirring the rotund vegetables in the pot and expertly crushing them with the blunt tip of the wooden spoon had him sit up attentively in his seat, watching you as you attend to the sauce from muscle memory alone.
He was in awe, perplexed, and intrigued.
Each time you would move on to another element of the dish, Killer would move a little closer. Each time your back was turned, he would perch himself just a little more towards the simmering pot. When you moved to the pantry to decide which shape of pasta to begin to boil, you could barely make out the shape of Killer's mask being partially elevated over his lips and nose by one large hand. Using a fresh spoon, he dips it into the sauce and puckers his purple-tinted lips and extends a breath of cool air to stifle the heat.
As soon as the first drops meet his tongue, he can't help the soft moan that escapes him at the flavor. Upon your return with a bag of penne in hand, you are immediately hoisted into the air with Killer's hands beneath your arms. Gently spinning you before placing you on the ground, he claps his arms over your shoulders and leans down closer. The purple hue of his lips is stretched up in a smile, his joy at your sauce immediately having him taken aback and fullfilled in the knowledge that he now has the answer he desperately seeks.
"Teach me. Please."
And who were you to deny him? It was a family recipe, and this crew aboard the Victoria Punk was your new family. Gently raising one of your hands to cup over his on your shoulder, you crinkle your nose at him and nod with a smile to match his own.
"Yes, chef."

One thing I wish more people understood is that a calorie is not a real thing, it's a unit of measure. Calories are just a measure of how much energy a human body can obtain from digesting a food.
I've seen people talk about calories as if they're a contaminent, like mercury in fish or something. As if "zero calories" is both healthy and humanly possible.
With the right lab equipment, you could separate out the fat, sugar, protien, fiber, vitamins, salt, etc. in a food and look at them, weigh them, measure them, poke them a stick. These are real things that actually exist. You can't separate out the calories. You find out how many calories are in a serving by doing math about how an average human digestive system processes the components of a food.
A "low calorie" food is just a food that you get less energy from. That's all it is. It isn't nessecarily healthier, it doesn't nessecarily have more nutrients. It certainly isn't more "pure" or "clean". It's just a less efficient fuel, that's all.
Vegetable oil and refined sugar are high calorie because our bodies can wring an absurd amount of energy from them. They're less healthy than other foods because they have fewer nutrients in them, not because they're "full of" evil calories.
--
This one poor youtuber I watch has to explain that her "healthy" foods are intensely calorie-rich because she physically cannot eat large volumes. She's got to be efficient. That doesn't make it a good approach for someone who wants the feeling of teeth crunching on a snack all day and night. Celery is ideal for the latter, but woe to the idiot who thinks eating mostly celery is going to make them healthy. You need fuel, people! Celery is an adult pacifier for people who can't stop clenching their jaw while they write. (It's me. I'm people.)

Groooovy!!: Of course it's delicious, I made it. Now, eat as much as you'd like.
Home: Kitchen cleanliness is crucial.
Home Idle 1: Any excess calories gained from consuming sweets should be worked off through exercise. It is completely out of the question to skip a meal and throw off your nutritional balance.
Home Idle 2: It seems Idia is currently watching a cooking-themed anime. Is he really able to enjoy it, even if he doesn't really care for the culinary arts?
Home Idle 3: I had to learn proper table manners back when I was in elementary school. That's because there were many instances in which it was required for work.
Home Idle - Login: I do take care to have a modest amount of oil in my dishes. High-quality oils are fundamental for healthy and beautiful skin.
Home Idle - Groovy: Both the flavor and plating is spectacular. The judge should be well satisfied with this. Now, time to bring out the dish.
Home Tap 1: Green smoothies are appealing, because they can be chock-full of vegetables. Plus, you can change up the flavors by adding in your favorite fruits.
Home Tap 2: I often eat salad with salt, olive oil, or vinegar. I haven't used mayonnaise from a store for quite some time now.
Home Tap 3: This palette knife is rather sleek. Good, someone like me should absolutely have sophisticated-looking cooking utensils.
Home Tap 4: I haven't applied any fragrances today. It would detract from the the bitter aroma of the roasted cacao beans.
Home Tap 5: The cake dough is slightly burnt. You say I should just hide it with the chocolate coating? Absolutely not, that would go against my standards.
Home Tap - Groovy: You should be honored. It's a rare gift indeed to have a chance to eat a dish I've crafted.

Healthy Skin
Cleansing and Moisturizing
Have short showers in warm water. Avoid long showers with hot water because it can strips helpful and necessary oils from your skin.
Wash your face twice daily. You should wash your face in the morning when you get up, and in the evening before going to bed.
Pat your skin dry. Instead of rubbing dry with a towel, gently pat your skin with a towel and let the remaining moisture air dry. This applies to both the skin on your face and on your body.
Exfoliate once or twice a week.
Remove your makeup before going to sleep. This will prevent breakouts.
Clean your makeup brushes regularly. This will prevent the build-up and spread of acne-causing bacteria.
Avoid touching your face as much as possible.
Healhy Diet
Fruits and vegetables. They are great for your skin and you body, since they are full of vitamins and antioxidants.
Food rich in omega. Fats are necessary for healthy skin, especially omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Good sources of omega include: walnuts, olive and canola oil, flaxseeds, sardines, mackerel and salmon.
Food rich in antioxidants and selenium. they prevent damage done by free radicals, which contribute to wrinkles, tissue damage, and dry skin. Foods high in antioxidants include: whole grains, berries, apricots, beets, squash and sweet potatoes, tangerines, beans, and olive oil. While foods that contain selenium include: whole-wheat pasta, button mushrooms, beef and turkey, oysters, shrimp and crab, snapper and cod, and some other fish.

WHAT’S GOING ON IN HAITI 🇭🇹
Haiti is a country in the Caribbean and Latin America that has been exploited and oppressed by colonial powers and imperialist forces for centuries. Its people have suffered unimaginable horrors and atrocities. Haiti was the first Black republic in the world, and the second independent nation in the Americas and the first Latin American country It achieved its independence in 1804, after a successful slave revolt against France. Haiti's independence was a threat to the racist and capitalist system that dominated the world. It inspired other enslaved and oppressed people to fight for their freedom and dignity. Haiti was also punished for its independence by the colonial powers. It was forced to pay a huge indemnity to France, and faced trade embargoes, diplomatic isolation, and military interventions.
Haiti was also exploited by multinational corporations and NGOs, who profited from its cheap labor, natural resources, and humanitarian aid. They also imposed their agendas and policies on the Haitian people, undermining their sovereignty and democracy. Haiti was also devastated by natural disasters, such as earthquakes ( a earthquake they are still recovering from that happened in 2010 and then a earthquake that happened in 2021 that killed 1,419 people) hurricanes, and floods, which worsened its already dire situation. Haiti was also victimized by diseases, such as cholera, malaria, and COVID-19, which ravaged its population and health system. The diseases were often introduced or exacerbated by foreign actors, such as the UN peacekeepers who brought cholera to Haiti in 2010. Haiti was also marginalized and silenced by the mainstream media, which portrayed it as a hopeless and helpless case, ignoring its history, culture, and achievements. The media also spread misinformation and stereotypes, fueling racism and stigma.
Haiti was also betrayed and abandoned by its allies and neighbors, who turned a blind eye to its plight, or worse, contributed to its misery. The United States of America, in particular, has a long history of meddling and undermining Haiti's sovereignty and stability. Taking 500,000 dollars from Haitian banks and still collecting money. The United States of America has invaded, occupied, and intervened in Haiti numerous times, imposing its political and economic interests. It has also exploited Haiti's labor and resources, and blocked its development and trade. sugar refining, flour milling, and cement and textile manufacturing, clothing, scrap metal, vegetable oils, dates and cocoa are all things given to other countries by Haiti. The United States of America has also supported and funded the Core Group, a coalition of foreign powers that has interfered in Haiti's internal affairs, manipulating its elections, constitution, and government. The United States of America has also failed to protect the human rights and dignity of the Haitian people, both in Haiti and in the US. It has deported and detained thousands of Haitian refugees and asylum seekers, and discriminated and criminalized them.
Here are a list of countries who agreed to help the United States and Canada evade Haiti:
Germany
France (the same country that we had to pay just to be free)
Benin
Jamaica
Kenya
Yes I am Haitian my dad side is from Haiti. My fathers family moved up here to Seattle because Haitian was going through a small silent genocide and have been since they have been free from France in 1804, France took my countries money and told them that they have to pay reparations just for existing and they had to pay France just to be free from the French. And then America jumps onto the bandwagon and decides to take billions of dollars from Haiti. Haiti was once the richest country but became the most poorest because of ignorance.
My people are being killed everyday just for speaking out against their government, my people are being killed because nobody was their for them when the 2010 and the 2021 earthquake happened because “Haiti is a bad country and helping them won’t do anything” and they are still recovering from that to this very day. Families are being displaced, the violence is getting worse, innocent people are dying and are fighting trying to stay alive, women and children are being r$ped and kidnapped. I have family that live in Haiti that I lost all contact with because they are fighting everyday, and who knows if they are even alive.

فخارة العدس / Fukharat l'adas (Palestinian clay-pot lentils)
The name of this dish comes from "فَخَّار" ("fakhar"), meaning "pottery," and "عَدَس" ("'adas"), meaning "lentils." It is traditionally cooked in a قدرة ("qedra," clay pot) made from clay refined from local soil and shaped in family-owned pottery workshops. This type of pot is also used to make a lamb and rice dish of the same name commonly eaten in Gaza and Hebron. The qedra is filled with the cooking ingredients, sealed with a flour-water paste or with aluminum foil, and placed in a wood-fired oven—or buried in an earth oven—to cook for several hours, or even overnight.
This simple dish cooks red lentils with yellow onion, olive oil, and cumin to produce a smooth, earthy stew; additional olive oil and fresh lemon juice squeezed on after cooking add freshness and a tart lift, and شطة (shatta, red chili paste) is spooned in for heat.
As of 2019, the number of families producing qedra in Gaza had decreased from 40 or 50 to 3 or 4, according to workshop owner Sabri Attallah. The Israeli blockade which began in 2007 closed off foreign markets for Palestinian qedras, while cheaper, metal imports cut in on the local market. When the pots are exported to Israel, the multiple checkpoints and mandatory searches between Gaza and Israel cause many of them to break. The compression of Palestinians into small areas by Israeli government and settlers also spells problems for the qedra industry, as the smoke caused by firing pots reduces air quality for nearby residents. Many consider pottery-making to be both an integral part of Palestinian identity, and to be dying out: thus the targeting of Palestinians' economic self-determination targets cuisine and culture as well.
Today, Israeli weapons threaten Palestinian existence. Palestine Action has called for bail fund donations to aid in their storming, occupying, shutting down, and dismantling of factories and offices owned by Israeli arms manufacturer Elbit Systems.
For the lentils:
1 cup split red lentils, rinsed
1 yellow onion, chopped
3 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp cumin seeds, toasted and ground
Salt, to taste
About 3 cups water
For the shatta (شطة):
100g (about 1 cup) fresh red chili peppers
2 tsp table salt
2 Tbsp olive oil
To serve:
Olive oil
Juice of 1/2 lemon, or to taste
Sweet peppers, radishes, spring onions, pickles, olives, leafy greens, shatta (red chili pepper paste).
Instructions:
For the shatta:
1. Wash peppers and remove stems. Use a mortar and pestle, food processor, or potato ricer to reduce peppers to a paste.
2. Add salt and stir. Add olive oil and stir. Store extra shatta in a jar in the fridge; cover with a thin layer of olive oil to avoid spoiling.
For the lentils (in the oven):
1. Coat the inside a piece of clay cookware of sufficient size, such as a Palestinian qedra or a Moroccan tanjia or tajine, with olive oil. Add the rest of the ingredients, followed by enough water to cover the lentils by at least an inch (about 3 cups). Make sure that the opening of the pot is completely covered (e.g. with a layer of aluminum foil, and then the pot's lid).
2. Place the clay pot in your oven and then heat it to 500 °F (260 °C).
3. Reduce the heat to 150 °F (65 °C) and cook for 2-3 hours, until lentils are mushy.
For the lentils (on the stovetop):
1. Heat olive oil in the base of your clay cookware, or a large pot. Add onions and cumin and fry briefly.
2. Add water and lentils and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes on medium.
3. Lower heat to low and cook for another 30 minutes, until consistency is smooth and mushy. Add water as necessary.
To serve:
Transfer lentils to individual serving bowls. Top with lemon juice and olive oil. Serve alongside shatta (which you may choose to spoon into your bowl) and fresh vegetables.

Right now the average wind farm is about 150 turbines. Each wind turbine needs 80 gallons of oil as lubricant and we're not talking about vegetable oil, this is a PAO synthetic oil based on crude... 12,000 gallons of it. That oil needs to be replaced once a year.
It is estimated that a little over 3,800 turbines would be needed to power a city the size of New York... That's 304,000 gallons of refined oil for just one city.
Now you have to calculate every city across the nation, large and small, to find the grand total of yearly oil consumption from "clean" energy.
Where do you think all that oil is going to come from, the oil fairies?
Not to mention the fact that the large equipment needed to build these wind farms run on petroleum. As well as the equipment required for installation, service, maintenance, and eventual removal.
And just exactly how eco-friendly is wind energy anyway?
Each turbine requires a footprint of 1.5 acres, so a wind farm of 150 turbines needs 225 acres; In order to power a city the size of NYC you'd need 57,000 acres; and who knows the astronomical amount of land you would need to power the entire US. All of which would have to be clear-cut land because trees create a barrier & turbulence that interferes with the 20mph sustained wind velocity necessary for the turbine to work properly (also keep in mind that not all states are suitable for such sustained winds). Boy, cutting down all those trees is gonna piss off a lot of green-loving tree-huggers.
Let's talk about disposal now.
The lifespan of a modern, top quality, highly efficient wind turbine is 20 years.
After that, then what? What happens to those gigantic fiber composite blades?
They cannot economically be reused, refurbished, reduced, repurposed, or recycled so guess what..? It's off to special landfills they go.
And guess what else..? They're already running out of these special landfill spaces for the blades that have already exceeded their usefulness. Seriously! Those blades are anywhere from 120 ft. to over 200 ft. long and there are 3 per turbine. And that's with only 7% of the nation currently being supplied with wind energy. Just imagine if we had the other 93% of the nation on the wind grid... 20 years from now you'd have all those unusable blades with no place to put them... Then 20 years after that, and 20 years after that, and so on.
Golly gee, how green is that?
Oops, I almost forgot about the 500,000 birds that are killed each year from wind turbine blade collisions; most of which are endangered hawks, falcons, owls, geese, ducks, and eagles.
Apparently smaller birds are more agile and able to dart and dodge out of the way of the spinning blades, whereas the larger soaring birds aren't so lucky.
I'm sure the wildlife conservationist folks are just ecstatic about that.
I'm so glad the wind energy people are looking out for the world.

Yandere Letters:
Pigsy and Tang
(The envelope is slightly wrinkled on both side, as though two people were tugging it back and forth in a fight. It smells of spice and fresh vegetables, a bit of dried cooking oil puddled up on the lower right corner. Clearly, it was written in the kitchen while Pigsy was working. The paper itself seems to have been torn free from a notebook, the blue-lined sheet having been folded several times to fit a standard envelope.)
Hi dear! I hope you’re still doing alright and eating well! It’s only been a few days since we visited you, but I’m already missing you again! Make sure to send lots of letters and don’t forget to call us! Just because you’re off in college doesn’t mean you’ve outgrown your dads, after all! Don’t skip meals and don’t skip sleep! And set aside a little bit of time to study each day! It’s important to spread your focus between different subjects so your brain doesn’t get all clogged up with too much info on one things!
And if anyone bothers you or won’t leave you alone, you make a call as soon as ya can, Y/N! I’ll be up there to straighten everyone out before you can blink, kid! Do you need anything added to your monthly care packages? I know you’ve been making a lot of rice and dumplings, so I added in the ingredients- high quality stuff, too! Use ‘em all up if ya need! I’ll send more, no trouble!
You’ve gotta write back, too! MK is missing you more each day! He keeps tugging on our sleeves and asking to see you, dear! It’s not good for a growing boy like him to be separated from his older sibling for so long, you know! Make a call right when you finish reading, then get down here for a visit- we’ll all appreciate it.
See you soon, kiddo.
(Underneath these sections, in childish scrawl drawn with red crayon, is the writing of someone who is clearly very young. In some places incorrect spelling has been struck out and replaced with the correction, all in a more refined script. Seems Tang was helping them.)
Big sis/bro!! Pigsy and Mister Tang helped me rite write you a letter! They sad said I could help make it for you! I got to draw all the decaraytons decorations! I made sure to put a lot of stars and clouds! When you come and visit, let’s go look at the sky again! Please?
(There’s a slight bulge in the envelope… looks like MK put in some stickers for you.)

*~Murder Movie Madness~* PT 2
Word Count: 2.6K Pairings: First-year poly minus Ortho and Yuu Warnings: Animal gore, Swearing, Me typing out a country accent
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
They spent nearly another hour outside in the woods, exploring the grounds and coming to terms with the fact they were currently trapped in a horror-slasher film. Epel had to routinely stop as his heeled sandals kept making him nearly roll his ankle, leaning against trees with his head hung down and Jack's oversized varsity jacket falling off his shoulders. Not to mention Deuce having to peel leaves off of his body and cringing at the feeling of dirt against his oiled skin.
The cabin was a godsend, a massive house that had the appearance of a decently modern building but the decor of an old-time lodging inside. They found suitcases in the upper rooms of the cabin, filled with other clothes they could change into (much to Epel and Sebek's happiness). Deuce took a shower, free of the oil he woke up in, but seeming to still have a fine layer of body shimmer in every nook of his person. A trait that Epel learned he shared while changing.
Once freshened up and redressed, the group could truly appreciate how nice the cabin was. Jack had found a note card folded on the massive kitchen island tucked into a bowl of fresh fruit. A short message wishing them a fun and safe spring break, signed by two different signatures of Arnold and Lucy. Epel had claimed they must of been side characters who came to the cabin beforehand and prepped the home for the characters' stay.
The fully stocked fridge, every inch cleaned and sparkling, and a hot tub on a tastefully decorated back patio was now all theirs to use. A perfect location for their group to all climb into, drinks in hand, as they proposed a game plan after their long day of horror movie survival prep in the early afternoon.
“Ok…” Yuu wasn't sure what their glass bottle had. If it was soda or booze, but they would take whatever at this point, “We're still in the first act; the killer most likely won't strike or even show himself until tomorrow or late tonight.”
Sebek nodded from beside them, “I haven't seen many movies, let alone horror films. But if we're dealing with a lone assailant their strategy would be to pick us off one by one.”
“So we stick together.” Jack sipped at his water, still tired from chopping down a tree with an old axe. The tree had been fashioned into thick planks that they planned to use to barricade all main entry points when night fell.
The firsties had unfortunately hit the ground running once they had calmed down; being constantly thrown into life-or-death situations preparing them to adapt on the fly. They began properly surveying their surroundings, making note of the terrain and every maintenance building on the property. Searching for any other signs of life in the small radius from the cabin, but finding nothing in their search. While Jack and Sebek used their combined survival training to further refine their plans, Yuu and Epel spent time going over the various gardening tools at their disposal to use as weapons. Epel had noted with the type of vegetation surrounding the cabin, a machete would be the perfect tool to get around. A tool that was noticeably missing…
Deuce hums, merely enjoying the toasty waters, still partly upset that his second shower hadn't removed any of the body shimmer he was mysteriously coated in.
Sebek spoke up as Epel and Ace came back from inside, everyone having agreed to go places in pairings, “Since the killer is most likely a stealth hunter, the egg bombs should be helpful in detecting him from a safe distance.
Ace and Deuce had destroyed the two cartons of eggs from the fridge. Hollowing them out and drying them before filling them with a mixture of flour and garlic powder. They had been finished and passed out in makeshift bags made from the couch's throw pillow fabric. should any of them see the killer they were to throw an egg or two at him in hopes the flash of white in the green scenery and the smell of garlic powder would make him painfully obvious to even the less scent-inclined members.
Each firstie had picked a weapon for self-defense; Epel laying claim to a shovel and Yuu asking Jack to bend a hoe to more closely resemble their trusty golf club. Both Deuce and Jack had taken Epel's metal bracelets, bending the metal to act as brass knuckles. While Sebek had taken to sharpening the axe and keeping it by his side, Ace had stated he was not a close-range fighter in any sense and would simply stick to one of them for protection.
Climbing into the hot tub, Epel leaned against Deuce, “Did anyone have any idea where Ortho is?”
“None of us know this movie. He might have been spared because there weren't enough characters for all of us.” Yuu spoke, “If we're lucky he's chilling back at Ramshackle, if we're not, he's trapped in the disk void, pissed.”
Ace hummed, “We've got limited magic so Ortho most likely has enough battery power to keep awake for however long this is gonna last.”
“Gonna last…” Deuce suddenly shot up, sending Epel off his shoulder at the movement, “Wait, are we gonna die while in here?”
Jack shook his head, “Interactive movies aren't lethal in that sense. Though…yeah we might…end up getting killed for the experience…”
Yuu finished off their bottle, submerging it into the bubbling water and pouring it out over Sebek's head, “Why the fuck is this a thing you can pay money to go through? What if one of you guys die tonight?”
“No one's dying! We're all staying alive and leaving this situation unmurdered.” Ace managed to keep Yuu and Sebek from slapping at each other, sighing before he relaxed back into the waters, “For tonight, let's just relax and enjoy yourselves…But, not too much, this is a horror movie after all…”
And they did. The group spent the rest of the night having fun. Grilling the meat and various vegetables from the fridge, playing catch on the patio with the football. A game that ended on a bad throw and the ball disappearing into the darkening treeline.
One last group soak in the hot tub and they all piled back into the house. The front and back doors locked via boards of wood and makeshift door stoppers placed to keep them closed. They all gathered in a single room, locking it down with boards, door stoppers, and the furniture placed in front of the door. Squishing tight into the master bed, each of them wearing shoes before they started to sleep in shifts. A valiant effort but sadly at a point all of them were fast asleep, unable to notice the red-eyed figure staring at the master bedroom window from the tree lines.
Morning light had barely reached the bed when the window broke. Everyone had startled awake at the sound of glass crunching, Sebek bolting up brandishing his axe in a defensive position before realizing no one new was in the room.
Deuce sleepily pointed toward one of the windows facing out to the lake, “Window…it…broken. It wasn't like that…night night…”
Ace sighed, patting Deuce’s head as the other card soldier drifted back to sleep, “Come on, Juice. Time to wake up and see what bullshit we're dealing with…”
Sebek and Jack had already gathered around the window, both muttering as they noted the newly formed cracks.
“Came from outside, obviously.”
“From below, but we're on the second floor, so again, obviously. The cracks though…”
“Yes, there was more distance than just below the window. At least from the treeline is where they threw whatever cracked the glass.”
Epel had climbed out of the bed, helping Yuu dismantle their bedroom barricade, as he called out over his shoulder, “Why the hell do you two know glass forensics?”
“Siblings.” Jack and Sebek said it in sync, eyes still scanning the glass.
Ace laughed, rolling his eyes at Epel’s confused expression, “Obviously.”
They all piled out of the bedroom, walking out and onto the patio only for Yuu to groan and roll their eyes seeing they had been changed again, “Outfit change, I guess…”
Everyone had spontaneously shifted clothing, walking out of the cabin seeming to be the trigger. While most of the group kept outfits they didn't mind staying in, Sebek and Epel were once again the unlucky ones. The half-fae walked out in suspenders and Epel only managed a few steps before he tripped over nothing and fell bikini'ed chest first onto the wood floor, knocking the wind out of himself.
“Ah…aaaaaauuuuugh…What did ah trip over?”
Yuu groaned again, trying to run a hand through their hair only to feel it was placed in a ponytail, “Please don't let the hot girl curse start. That's the worst trope.”
Ace pulled a face, “Hot girl curse? What's the hot girl curse?”
Epel looked bewildered at the empty entryway he had tried to step through, hoping to find an uneven board or something but only seeing the old rug.
“Oh, please. Don't act like you don't see what's happening. We're all playing stereotypes and, unfortunately, Epel got hot girl.”
Epel was slowly getting his breath back, reaching out to Jack's offered hand, “No, Ah'm serious, what did ah fucking trip on?”
Ace responded to Yuu, standing beside them, “The hot girl? Epel's the hot girl, is that the hill you wanna die on?”
“Ace, he's wearing a fucking neon yellow bikini top. He has been assigned hot girl. Just how Jack is the jock, Sebek is the nerd, Deuce is hot guy, you're comic relief, and me and Ortho are obviously final girl energy.”
“Ok, I was following until you said Juice was the hot guy, but me as comic relief? You? The final girl? What makes you think you have that title!? And Ortho isn't even here!”
“My willingness to murder for way less than the insurance of survival and Ortho is a fucking mini tank. He's been the final girl this whole time, you IDIOT-”
Deuce’s groan pulls everyone's attention to him. The spade soldier looking down at himself with a distressed expression, “I'm covered in oil again! And now I don't have a shirt!”
Ace looks his boyfriend up and down, eyes locked on his bare chest before shrugging and walking down the patio stairs, “You look fine, come on.”
“Told ya~. Hot boy, Deuce-”
Jack had followed after them, Epel and Sebek behind him with Epel clutching onto Sebek's arm, “Don't call him that…”
They found the lost football from the night before. A few feet away from the area of the broken bedroom window. Now seeing where it had landed, Sebek had pointed toward the tree line.
“The distance is a bit far for a human to throw. But if the killer isn't supposed to be fully human, he's potentially been watching us the whole night from that point.”
Ace shivered, glaring into the trees, “Creepy…”
And unfortunately, like the pack of dumb teens they were, they walked into the woods. a second search of the woods for clues or any sign of Ortho. Weapons clutched tightly in hand and refusing to move to far away from each other.
Sighing, Deuce wiped at his arms in hope to remove leaves sticking to his skin, “So annoying…I've gotta shower when we get back to the-...Guys!?”
Everyone turns around, watching a frantic Deuce wiping at his arm and the bright red smear along his arm.
Ace rushed over to his side, wiping at Deuce’s arm in an effort to see how he was bleeding, “It's barely been an hour! What even made you bleed!?”
Jack and Sebek both looked around, the beastman's ears swiveling around in an effort to hear anything in the woods. They continued to fuss and panic the longer nothing happened. Ace only quieted down at having a drop of red splatter on the back of his hand. As another drop fell he looked up, yelling and pulling Deuce along with him while staring into the treetops in horror.
The group followed his line of sight, expressions turning terrified at the scene before them. A fully grown buck was hung meters in the air, its antlers keeping it locked in the thin branches of the tree. It was gutted open, the blood and organs lazily dripping blood from its ripped-open midsection. The group all jump back as a mass of the animal’s innards fall out and plop wetly onto the dirt.
Ace lets out a wet-sounding retch, turning away to spit out the acidic taste in his mouth, “Oh, that’s fucking gross…”
Sebek sucked in a breath, gripping tighter to his axe and looking around, “The blood is still fresh. The killer did this only recently-”
Yuu spoke up, their scared expression having faded to one of question, “How’d this deer get here?”
…
Jack pursed his lips, his nose scrunched up as though offended Yuu was asking questions, “What do you mean? Obviously, it got there from the killer butchering it to send a message.”
“No, listen. We looked around yesterday, none of us saw any deer. So is there a small deer population on this island or what? Did he bring a deer here to scare us-wait, can deer swim?”
Ace spat once again, glaring over his shoulder, “Is that really what you’re concerned about right now!?”
Yuu turned to the scowling half-fae, any terror they had felt long gone, “Sebek, you were raised in the woods, do deer swim?”
“We are trapped on an island with a murderer and you want to know if deer can swim?”
“Just say you don’t know, god damn. Epel, can deer swim?”
The Pomfiore student had started to calm down, looking at the deer from a more practical side, “Yeah…yeah, deer can swim…normally only when they're hot, but they can swim…” He frowned, thinking it over in his head and remembering just how far the town was from the island, “Not sure they could swim this far out though…”
Deuce looked between the two shorter members of their group, “Are you both…really having this conversation right now?”
“Actually, Epel?” Yuu pointed at the deer, “Can we eat that? Like can we get that down and eat it for dinner tonight?”
Jack instantly lost any disturbance in his body, walking closer to Yuu and Epel ready to physically restrain them from scrambling up the tree, “Ok, no…no. We don’t know where that deer has been. It could have diseases.”
Yuu shrugged, gesturing to the deer lazily, “That’s what the cooking is for, Jack.”
Sebek sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose and regretting the multiple choices that led to this moment. Lilia had only giggled when he stated he was invited to a movie marathon with the other first-year group, stating he was sure to have fun. He only laughed harder hearing it was for horror movies. Silver had to step in to explain when Sebek also revealed it was a competition to scare Yuu with a horror movie, since Lilia was barely breathing let alone speaking. His only explanation was that Yuu was not…a standard movie viewer. And as he watched the human-pixie stand their ground on being allowed to eat the mutilated deer instead of feeling an ounce of fear, he realized the Vanrouge duo were trying to warn him of the fact Yuu was most likely to ruin any horror movie experience.
Looking around he felt a bolt of panic pass through him, Epel was missing. He opened his mouth, moving to shout for everyone’s attention only to step back as the deer carcass slammed into the ground right before his feet. The thud it made startled everyone to focus their attention on him, staring at the body in wide-eyed terror.
From up in the trees, Epel grinned down at the group, “I got him! Let’s take this back to the house and get some stew started.”

Yall young people have so much to look forwards.
Yeah, if you're environmentally and ecologically conscientous, it has never been a better time. Do you know why we didn't already have electric cars?
It's not because of some massive coverup and greedy oily oil barons. The energy barons have always maintained desire to invest in and reap benefits from anything that reaps dividends. Energy will always reap dividends. Renewable energy, if even worth investing in, will reap dividends like the expensive, hard process of mining and drilling for oil and then refining and selling it.
It's because the technology and the science simply wasn't there. Not enough to practically and economically provide for our needs. When you see people screaming about how "It already existed!! We just need to.. rethink our needs!" You've likely come across someone that takes a radically bad stance on exactly what an individual's needs are.
There exists a kind of crunchy, borderline totalitarian asshole that, believe it or not, isn't the usual kind of totalitarian asshole, which is often associated with the right wing and Nazis! This totalitarian asshole asks, "What does a person need, really?" And their answer is, "An overarching state and society to govern for The People, and provide for them what has been determined to be their Needs."
When they say, The People, they don't mean you and your individual requirements. They mean the abstract, conceptual, platonic Man, the conceptual human person, and then they ignore you and try to interact with this conceptual ideal. And then they determine how to ration for you. They'll demand you conform to their plan, and then maybe you'll get X amount of a thing to live on, no more no less, as they brag about providing for The People.
Shortages will inevitably happen from this approach, and then you'll survive on half of that, which has been determined to be your new needs. That's the sort of person that thinks you can survive on X-much of resources, if only they can huddle you and a hundred other someodd people onto public transportation that operates on a timer and engineer cities to have a maximum capacity (which will inevitably be overcapacity as more people than they expected arrive to exist there) and their carefully conceived brave new world where they've used shitty math to shortchange people comes back to bite everybody.
Need housing? They deign to stick you into a locker sized Chinese style apartment and think, great, I've created livable housing for millions of people in the same space as used to house hundreds! Yay me!
Need food? Oh, simple; they'll just feed you food that's as simple as possible and emphasize vegetables because they're non-controversial and don't require as complicated a growing cycle or as messy as what happens when their needs aren't met and there's cruelty or unsanitary conditions to worry about. No one goes to court advocating on behalf of pumpkins. So, "wouldn't it just be easier if you were vegetarian or vegan? Your needs would be so much easier to mee! C:"
That sort of person believes if you just "make personal choices" to be as low maintenance and nonmobile and rock eating as possible, the little electrical power generated for transportation and heating and keeping the lights on should be enough to design a whole society around NOW! Don't you want that!? Me neither.
This is why we didn't switch to 100% renewables. The technology and science just does not exist, yet. Yes if we have absurd amounts of (currently toxic, currently difficult to develop and acquire components for solar cells) solar power, we're going to use it, but outside of using giant flywheels or liquid salt heat batteries to power things when the sun isn't shining, we just do not have base load coverage for the needs of society without shortchanging and radically redefining society and how it functions.
The way they would propose society to function is very centralized, top down and authoritarian. That does not meet our needs for personal liberty. But they don't care about that.
And this is important, because the science and technology ARE creeping up to the minimum by which we'll be able to generate enough mega or giga amps required for every individual person. We finally will have the battery capacity to actually store and DO something with all that renewable and nuclear fission derived power!
THAT is the secret sauce, people under 25. THAT is the beauty of this era! It isn't that humanity is "finally sloughing off the yoke of the aristocrats." It's that the actual science and technology is close to fruition where it isn't a violation of physics and entropy to actually have nigh infinite, free electrical power, without either polluting the atmosphere with particulates until it's unbreathable mess, polluting the land and sea until everything dies in the eco-system, or trying to live "within the means" of what renewables can do and rationing our power consumption to one hour a day.
Just having the ability to switch out a fuel powered jet engine with a rechargable solid state battery for turbofan jet engined flight, just having electrically driven boats, we save so much pollution and inefficient energy consumption from even happening. I can't emphasize enough just how big a game changer sufficiently powerful and capacitied batteries are and how essential they are to address power needs.
They change EVERYTHING. They make it possible so residential solar and wind can charge up a house battery, making it possible to function with emergency energy during hard times. They make it possible to outperform internal combustion engines by just simply not consuming enormous amounts of power while idling in traffic. They make transporting power easy peasy, rather than using large pipes or driving it on trains or truck convoys to deliver it.
You kind of came in at the last second of the game and you're probably horrified at the prospects of the world just plain collapsing from climate change and pollution. The Greta Thunbergs of the world didn't help, and then the reactionary Andrew Tates performing by arguing with them really didn't help.
Alternatives to plastic that either are biodegradable or actually recyclable have been developing since the 90s. Plasma wands for particulate free garbage incineration have been available for some time, dealing with our toxic materials can't go in incinerator problems. Heavy metals and carcinogen pollutant areas can be cleaned via use of specific kinds of grubs and earthworms, which rend the materials inert. Biodegradable biomass can be handled before it becomes methane, or the methane captured and put to use.
The biggest alarmists promising unless we "radically do something NOW" are often the kinds of people that believe if you'd just surrender personal autonomy, personal liberty, personal mobility, expectations of actually having a home of your own to live in, then they could have their Brave New World they want. They hate nuclear power because, "it's not radically upsetting to the status quo enough."
It's important to realize solutions are either there, or have been worked on since decades before you were born and either are already being employed, are in the process of getting employed, or are almost ready for the system to capitalize on and solve big problems. And the people screaming about how "no one is doing anything/ they're doing nothing because of greed/ short sighted selfishness" have a very particular bridge to sell you.
