A Change of Perspective

I was not expecting so much attention on my latest Flatland artwork, as I´m writting my biggest post so far it´s about to hit 400 notes.

Thank you to everyone for sharing my artwork, following me and thanks to everybody leaving comments on them, I truly appreciate what you have to say about my work!

So, I wanted to write a little about my personal relationship with this novel. Although small, it did help me create a point of reference for my growth over these years.

I knew about this novel since 2016, after the 2016 Bill Q&A mentions Edwin A. Abott. Of course my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to figure out this world. I ended up falling on a 4th dimension theory and Mathematics rabbit hole.

Since a lot of conversations surrounding the book where around theories on the 4th dimension, rather than giving political comentary on the book. As it´s rediscovery was made in the year 1920´s, one could imagine why that was the case. For the most part, due to Einstein´s main interest being how Edwin A. was able to somehow predict the 4th dimension´s existence.

Thanks to this, I didn´t take Flatland´s themes into consideration, and just read a few chapters out of order.

July 2024, The Book of Bill releases. Once again, there´s a reference to the novel in one of the pages. And for old times sake I decided to revisit Flatland. Curiously it´s when I got recommended the 2007 Flatland movie to no end, I eventually, after a long weekend of College work, decided to watch it as I animated.

After that, I decided this time I would finally give myself the time to finish the novel. With an older and more open mind I was able to finish the book and understand it´s themes; critiquing bigotry and seeing the world through a whole new perspective. Makes me wish little me finished the book instead of taking its message for granted, could’ve helped get over some mayor denial I had back then.

I believe things happen a certain way for a reason, maybe it was for the better that I didn’t finish that book back then, at least it gave me the opportunity to better appreciate it :^]c

I hope this community keeps on growing. And I hope to see more people create more content for this interesting world!

despite knowing exactly what vesta was talking about, elira couldn't help the place the words take her mind to. a small smirk plays on her face. "yeah, that sounds kriffing kinky. but i'm following. i'm definitely a lot more naturally prone to being loud. causing distractions or making statements. that sort of thing." their eyes lock with theirs at their laugh, lingering despite vesta breaking the contact. they'd nearly forgotten what they were doing there in those few minutes. kriff, maybe they'd had more to drink than they thought. still they wouldn't turn down another. elira snaps back to reality after they pull away, seeing as it was their window to sneak in without being noticed. they weren't going to steal anything, but there was a rush to being in restricted areas. some harmless fun. "oh i've blown up plenty of places. after we free'd prisoners i loved getting to be the one to blow that place to high stars."

"well, when you get a random weirdo staring at you, what are you supposed to do?" they asked, eyeing the other with caution. alarm bells were ringing in her head at the other's presence. "that was kind of stupid, wasn't it?" she raised a brow. "but sure, here,"

This is not a theory or a prediction but I have a feeling that the reason why Storer is delaying Carmy´s meeting with Emmanuel and the subsequent introduction is bc they have seen each other before and they´ll recognize each other. Or I could be totally wrong, IDK.

"stars, you were absolutely not cut out for this at all." vesta couldn't hold back the laugh that bubbled up, watching lilo process all of this. "no of course i don't feel bad! if i felt bad about every person i killed, i'd never get anything done!" it wasn't like they had a long list, but it was long enough to be desensitized. "they were trying to kill you, they matter way less less than myself, who, currently wants to leave you alive. mainly for the entertainment factor. also, he woke up, i don't see why we're pressed."

"No!" Lilo shouted quickly. "I just figured- y'know. Maybe you might've watched from afar? I don't know how killing people works! Don't you feel bad?" Of course, what Vesta says next assures that she probably in fact does not feel bad, and Lilo finds themselves frowning. "Because they're a person. They matter just as much as you or me."

i admit i am shocked the old guard 2 isn’t trending already (it did a few days ago) BUT it also turns out a lot of people weren’t aware of a sequel or that it came out yesterday 😔

Very sad, indeed... Hope it does sometime this weekend. And I hope it blows-up in other SM platforms because otherwise we won't get a third movie and I will be disappointed if that is what we see last of our immortal family :(

Going to spread the word so that more people watch it and Netflix feels compelled to greenlit the sequel
