general hygiene secrets + tips⋆.ೃ࿔*:・🍦
while u upgrade in other areas of ur life, its important to upgrade ur hygiene and self care game too ✨ and this post can help u do that
DOUBLE CLEANSING ;
not only for ur face but also for ur body, doing so makes me feel a million times cleaner. when i double cleanse my face i go in with an oil based cleanser then a water based cleanser.
my double cleansing body recommendations are the dove bar soap, african black soap or the soaps from the doctor bronners brand
for double cleansing my body i'll use an unscented/anti bacterial bar soap and after rinsing that off i'll use a liquid body gel or body wash that has the scent that i wanna smell like
MY TAKE ON UNSCENTED BODY PRODUCTS ;
i think that unscented body products r lowkey slept on but in that same breath i can kinda see why. personally, i like to use an unscented soap sometimes and then make my body smell even better by using a body butter or a lotion but thats SOMETIMES.
TAKE CARE OF UR FEET ;
use a foot file/foot scrub to ensure baby soft, barbie-esque feet. before bed time make sure to moisturize ur feet with a body butter ro vaseline and sleep with fuzzy socks on.
also keep ur toes clipped, filed, and preferably painted. personally i like to go for white toes cuz i just think its classic, but in general do NOT neglect ur feet.
ALL ABOUT FRAGRANCE ;
i love to collect different fragrances and buy a lot of perfumes bcuz i just love the variety, i love the adorable packaging i just LOVE perfume. dont be afraid to blend perfumes together and experiment with how different notes in different perfumes can work together and give u ur own unique scent.
dont sleep on oil perfumes either, personally i find them to be very rich and SO LONG LASTING?? they're absolutely amazing. when u apply the perfume try not to rub, instead press and apply it to ur pulse points.
HOT TIP - when spraying perfume on ur body, make sure to apply some onto the insides of ur knees + ankles bcuz smell travels upwards so when u walk by, the air will smell yummy 🎀
SLUGGING SECRETS ;
slugging urself before bed ensures that when u wake up ur body will be SOFT and SMOOTH and glowy. the basic before bed slugging routine is to go in with a deeply moisturizing body lotion/butter. ur gonna wanna lather urself completely (from the neck down to ur ankles) then use a body oil.
things to look for in a body lotion or body butter - helps with properties like firming and tightening of the skin. aids in deep moisture if ur someone who has dull or dry skin.
its important to find a body butter + oil combination that works well with ur skin and doesn't break u out (plus smells good)

4 Good Skin Good Ideas , Improve Your Skin And Look Wonderful
Tummy Tuck or Abdominoplasty, body lift, or thigh lift usually take from three to five hours depending on the size of the patient, and the extent of the expensive surgery.
Below, I now nivea body lotion discuss fourteen (14) important questions/issues you might need to consider you do not lose be better prepared to choose(& successfully startup) the right farm operation.
youtube
Well, here's what I've studied. Research shows there are only one or two really effective ingredients for aging as well as skin. And, that's good news because when you know what however you can weed the junk as you concentrate on the top right?
A) Sugar scrub - Most KP sufferers have tried this tip already but a person's haven't then have a go vaseline body lotion and determine whether your KP improves. You can buy ready-made sugar scrubs at stores but a person are want in order to create it home it's rather easy - take 1 part sugar and mix it with organic extra-virgin olive oil (or melted virgin coconut oil) in a container until it reaches a consistency you much like. Some people like in order to orange zest to provide a nice fragrance or others like to be able to honey due laser hair removal for men's privates to the healing properties. Use it after your skin has been soaking their shower with regard to the few temps.
Since I'm a believer in Aromatherapy and use it religiously, I threw away my prepackaged hand and body lotion and started drugs my man or women. All I did was purchase some unscented, organic hand and body lotion along with some empty one ounce bottles. Just mix inside 12 drops of lavender essential oil to one ounce of unscented, organic hand and bottle lotion, shake it up and you're done!
Body creams are the correct choice for individuals with dull flesh. They revitalize your skin, moisturize it, help make it look healthier and brighter in the past. And if you happen to use those flavored body lotions, you will smell great all with day.
The natural ingredients present in this particular lotion are powerful enough to penetrate deep into the skin and hydrate it from among. This is something which an ordinary cream or lotion does not provide. In the best, they hydrate the perfect top layer of your skin and so after several hours, their effect is totally gone.
Remember that research or education could be the key to locating the best collagen firming lotions or some other kind of skincare piece. Now, you know a little. But, you could always to see for yourself.

How to Smell Dreamy (Body Care Tips + Routine)
One of my Dream Girl goals is to get more invested in body care; a huge part of that is learning how to make my body smell good! (fragrance wise) I feel like I've finally cracked the code for myself, and I'm ready to share it!
In Shower
Washing order:
♡ face ♡ feminine area ♡ hair ♡ body (arms, legs, stomach, back)
♡ bum
♡feet
Face and Feminine Area
Your face and feminine area are the two most sensitive parts of your body, which is why they should be cleansed first. Cleanse your face first to avoid getting any unwanted body care products on your face.
Next, your Feminine area. Your feminine has a lot of hidden creases; if it's not cleansed properly, you can get buildup around your "inner lips" (labia minora) which will cause odor.
♡ Take a wet Q-tip and clean your "inner lips" and clitoris. If needed, use a hand mirror to make sure you're removing any possible build-up.
♡ After you are done (with clean hands) wash the entire area. DO NOT wash inside of the hole, and DON'T use a fragrance wash. Simply using warm water is the best option, but if you feel more comfortable using a wash, my favorites are the Unscented and Peppermint Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap and Honey Pot's foam wash.
Tip: If you are experiencing a slight odor, wash with diluted apple cider vinegar to help balance your PH.
Hair
Hair products and the buildup from your hair can cause breakouts. Wash your hair first, so then you can make sure everything is rinsed and cleansed off after.
Cleaning Body
♡ Start by washing your entire body with SOAP. Girlies... Dove is not soap. Dove is a "moisturizing beauty bar with a mild cleanser." Which mild is okay for washing your face, but not your body, in my opinion.
Of course, use what you want, but I suggest at least mixing it with soap. As always, I recommend Dr.Bronners Soap.
- Use an exfoliating cloth to clean your back. This will help get those hard-to-reach places and prevent/clear any bacne.
- Don't forget to wash behind your ears, your neck, and your belly button.
♡ Now exfoliate. You should exfoliate once or twice a week. DON'T use sugar scrubs!! Super unsanitary. I don't know much about chemical exfoliants, but I am currently using Soap and Glory: Scrub of your life - and I'm obsessed.
- Exfoliate your neck, arms, shoulder, (bum) cheeks, and legs. You can also exfoliate your armpits, but DO NOT exfoliate your armpits on shaving day.
Making body smell good (the fun part!)
♡ Use products with strong scents. I personally find that creamy body washes have stronger and lasting scents.
♡ Apply products directly to the skin to prevent them from absorbing too much into what you're using to wash.
♡ Layer your products - use products with the same notes.
♡ DO NOT immediately wash the products off - let it sit for at least 2-5 minutes, so the scent can stick to your skin.
Bum And Feet
♡ Use your washcloth to clean your bum last since it holds the most bacteria. I like mixing soap and Vagisil.
♡ Lastly, your feet. Use a foot brush and callus remover.
- DON'T use the same washcloth for days - Washcloths should be put in the laundry after every use.
Out of Shower
♡ (With clean hands) apply face products.
♡ Apply your scented lotion to damp skin, so it will absorb into your skin.
- Mix your lotion with perfume oil for an even stronger and lasting scent!
♡ Apply Deodorant - If you are a sweaty girl, use dry spray deodorant and apply it to all of your problem areas.
♡ Apply perfume to pulse points - Put vaseline on pulse points first and DON'T rub in the perfume.
♡ Get Dressed and then apply a generous amount of (matching) body mist all over your body.
Now you should be feeling good and smelling dreamy!
Thanks for reading
xoxo

It's (most likely all) the perfume crap they put in lotions that causes the burn. Get unscented. But also google for unscented lotion reviews since some unscented products do actually have sent in them to cover up any unpleasant smell the genuine unscented product has.
Also vaseline and aquaphor lock in moisture and prevent evaporation. I've found it works slightly better if u get your hands dampish first, apply the vaseline, cover with plastic to lock it in if you can, and then cover with socks esp if you want to sleep that way. Or just watch tv that way for a while as long as you can before you take it off. The socks help keep your hands warm and the plastic also helps from spreading it into the sock.
I guess we’re just doing lotion talk now. Sure, why not?
I have found some scented lotions can be bad that way, I used to buy baby lotion for my legs after shaving because the other ones would burn. Now I use Cerave daily lotion.
I personally feel like plastic wrap and socks on my hands is a huge amount of overkill, nor could I EVER sleep that way, but if your skin is dying that badly and you need a fast/intense solution this seems like a good one.
I just apply and go, it generally has a pretty immediate affect. As mentioned before this is not actually a problem I suffer from very often.
#I wonder if OP is getting this amount of engagement on that post 😂#I appreciate everyone’s advice honestly#Even if I don’t feel particularly in need of it#Just wasn’t expecting to start a deep convo on moisturizer todah#I just thought the post was clever#And honestly the metaphor stands#Sometimes you don’t have access to the good stuff and you just have to take whatever your friend has in their purse

Paget disease of the breast, an uncommon type of cancer, causes breast and nipple itching. This type of cancer particularly affects the nipple, though a cancerous tumor is usually discovered within the breast as well. Early Paget disease signs can mimic atopic dermatitis or eczema. Other signs are: a flattened nipplerednessa lump within the breastdischarge from the nipplepores and skin adjustments on the nipple or breast Itchy breast or nipple and heat can also be an indicator of breast cancers as well, particularly inflammatory breast cancers. Adjustments to the feel of your breast may also be a trigger for concern. listed below are the 15 potential reasons why you are having itchy breast or nipple, and what to do about each. 1. It is tremendously dry outside. The skin surrounding your nipples is much more delicate and sensitive than the skin on different parts of your body, says Dr. Zeichner. This will make it super vulnerable to irritation, dryness, and inflammation, particularly in dryer climate. “Chilly, dry weather strips the skin of important oils, disrupting the outer pores and skin layer, leading to lack of hydration, and irritation,” explains Dr. Zeichner. Treatment: For those who are experiencing dry or flaky skin, he suggests making use of a moisturizer to assist restore the pores and skin barrier. “Search for substances like petrolatum, ceramides, or colloidal oatmeal,” says Dr. Zeichner, who typically recommends Vaseline Intensive Care Super Restore Lotion, provided that it helps construct a protecting seal over the pores and skin without leaving you feeling sticky. 2. Thyroid issues. The thyroid is concerned within the regulation of a number of organs, together with your skin. “We all know that when thyroid hormone ranges are low, the skin can become dry which results in itching,” says Dr. Zeichner. However itchy nipple or breast are not the only symptom of thyroid issues. Other signs are appetite changes, muscle aches and fatigue, amongst others. Treatment For those who suspect they are having thyroid issues based on signs and symptoms, seek the advice of your physician, who can refer you to an endocrinologist if mandatory. 3. Menopause Hormonal adjustments happen during menopause, like a drop in estrogen production. Now that your body is producing much less estrogen, the end of menstruation may also impact your skin too, says ob-gyn Felice Gersh, MD. “Menopause is a state of estrogen deficiency, and estrogen is vital to sustaining and maintaining healthy skin. Without it, the skin atrophies and becomes drier.” Treatment: One method to keep away from itchy nipple or breast brought on by menopause is to make use of a topical estrogen therapy, says Dr. Gersh. Seek the advice of your physician about menopause hormone prescriptions. 4. Eczema Eczema is a genetic skin dysfunction typically made worse by environmental exposures, says Kari Martin, MD, affiliate professor of dermatology on the College of Missouri Faculty of Drugs. An eczema rash has a reasonably particular look; it is typically categorized as small raised bumps or reddish patches on the skin, and it will possibly show up on your nipples. However, Dr. Martin says the rash will possibly appear on each of your nipples and breasts. Treatment: Dr. Martin recommends avoiding harsh soaps and moisturizing the skin commonly with an emollient similar to petroleum jelly. You can even attempt an OTC hydrocortisone ointment twice a day for as much as two weeks, however verify with your dermatologist in case your eczema flare-up and doesn’t clear up after that. 5. Psoriasis Like eczema, psoriasis is one other skin condition — however, this one is solely caused by an autoimmune dysfunction. Psoriasis additionally has a tell-tale look: pink, scaly plaques on the, mostly on the outsides of your elbows and knees, says Dr. Martin. However, the rash may appear anywhere – even on your breasts and nipples. Treatment: You may need to see a dermatologist for this one too, however, trying hydrocortisone ointment for any psoriasis-related itching really helps. 6. Narcotics There are a variety of the reason why your physician would possibly prescribe an opioid ache reliever—extreme migraines, damaged bones, surgical procedure. However, whereas the narcotic is working to ease your ache, it may additionally be inflicting you to itch. In case your bras do not fit (or maybe you go braless a lot of time), you would possibly find yourself with itching and chafing. “Some narcotics have been reported to trigger a launch of histamine from cells within the physique, which may trigger generalized pruritus ,” says Stephanie Gore, MD, an ob-gyn at CareMount Medical. Treatment: To fight the itch, take an oatmeal bath and make sure your skin is well-moisturized; in case your physician approves it, you can even attempt taking an antihistamine, says Dr. Gore. Switching to a different medication when attainable, may additionally assist. 7. Insect Bite Insect bites may not be the very first thing you consider while you have an annoying itch on your breast, however, it is completely possible. Dr. Gore says to examine the area for symptoms of an insect bite—like a single raised bump and redness surrounding it—and pay particular consideration to marks that seem in multiples, since that would imply you might have a bed bug infestation (gross, however true). Treatment OTC hydrocortisone lotions, calamine lotion, or oral antihistamines are normally a good defense towards itchiness from insect bites, says Dr. Gore. 8. Radiation therapy for breast cancer. Radiation remedy for breast most cancers can result in a selected sort of dermatitis (aka irritation of the skin), and Dr. Martin says the itching can begin right after the patch of the skin has been exposed to radiation, and even months or years later. “It happens due to injury and scarring the radiation beams passing by the skin to deeper tissues,” she explains. “It normally presents as damaged blood vessels and firmness of the skin; it could be painful, itchy, or have no related signs in any respect.” Treatment Like with most types of dermatitis, moisturizing is vital. However generally stronger topical corticosteroids are needed, in any which case heading to your ob-gyn is the best way. 9. Pregnancy If you’re pregnant and expecting, you also expect some itching to go together with that developing baby bump. Dr. Gore says regular physiological changes that happen throughout pregnancy, just like the enlargement of the breasts in preparation for lactation, might be sufficient to trigger itchy breast or nipple. “Because as the skin stretches to accommodate the breasts, it typically becomes dry and irritated,” she explains. “Some ladies develop stretch marks, which irritates the pores and skin much more.” Treatment: Keeping the skin moisturized with topical lotion, especially the unscented ones, is the easiest way to manage symptoms, to avoid additional irritation, says Dr. Gore. You are 10. Breastfeeding. Intensive breastfeeding (like in the course of the new child periodl) could cause itch-inducing dryness. Your ob-gyn can suggest a couple of baby-safe cures —like medical-grade lanolin and even heat compresses —to try in case your nipples have develop into severely dry or cracked from breastfeeding. For those who nonetheless experience itching even with lanolin, you may have an allergy to it, explains Susan Bard, MD, a dermatologist at Vive Dermatology. An uncommon type of cancer referred to as Paget’s disease could cause itching on the breast. However, monitor any cracked pores and skin. Damaged pores and skin on the nipples can result in the introduction of microorganism into the milk ducts, which can end in an infection referred to as mastitis. Mastitis, which can also be brought on by an overgrowth of microorganism within the breast milk because of rare feedings or blocked milk ducts, causes signs like ache or tenderness within the breast, in addition to fever and flu-like symptoms. Treatment “Discontinuation of any potential allergens or irritants is essential,” says Dr. Bard, so watch out that what you are treating your dry breasts with is not inflicting additional injury. If you think you might be having mastitis, consult your physician, since it’s possible you’ll need an antibiotic. 11. Allergic Reaction If you’re allergic to that new lotion or cream you’re using, that is referred to as allergic contact dermatitis, which “happens when somebody becomes allergic to a chemical in contact with their pores and skin,” says Dr. Martin. “ the nipples, this may most frequently be metallic in a piercing, an OTC treatment, a skincare product getting used on that pores and skin, or extra hardly ever, preservatives in clothes.” This type of dermatitis results in a red or pink rash that’s dry and itchy. Dr. Martin says it could be localized or extra widespread, and will even result in blistering and crusting. Treatment OTC hydrocortisone would possibly help, however keep watch over it—you’ll definitely want to schedule an appointment with your physician if it doesn’t improve. 12. Your breast is rubbing against your bra slightly excessively Irritant contact dermatitis additionally results in pink and scaly or dry plaques, says Dr. Martin, and might be brought on by extreme dryness from harsh cleansers or friction—on the breasts and nipples specifically. So in case your bras are ill-fitting (otherwise you ceaselessly don’t put on one at all), you would possibly find yourself with chafing and irritation. Friction may also occur in case your breasts are asymmetrical, e.g., one breast is a bigger cup measurement than the opposite, leaving the smaller one to maneuver round more in the cup. Treatment Get yourself a correct bra fitting from an expert, and try investing in bras designed to accommodate different sized breasts. 13. Breast Surgery. For those who have recently had any form of breast surgical procedure, you are in all probability expecting ache, soreness, or tenderness within the days after—in addition to (unfortunately) itching. “After a surgical procedure, as a part of the therapeutic course, histamine is released and swelling of the breast happens,” says Lyda E. Rojas Carroll, MD, a common surgeon who makes a specialty of breast surgical procedure at CareMount Medical. “That will stimulate nerve endings and trigger itching", thereby causing itchy breast or nipple. Treatment: To alleviate the itching brought on by swelling, Dr. Carroll recommends wearing a surgical bra and making use of ice. 14. Breast Cancer It’s an unlikely cause for your itchy breast or nipple, however Paget’s disease of the breast is a possibility. This uncommon sort of breast cancer happens within the nipple then spreads to the areola, and shows up as a pink, scaly rash that doesn’t get better after using topical lotions, says Dr. Carroll. “The itching is brought on by the native skin reacting to the cancers cells growing in the nipple,” Dr. Carroll explains, including that it’s extraordinarily uncommon to have Paget’s disease in both nipples (so in case your itching or rash isn’t unique to one side, it’s even much less likely you might have it). Treatment For those who’re involved, make an appointment with your physician; surgical therapy is more likely to be advisable for this kind of cancer. However, Paget’s is extremely uncommon—and there is a higher probability your itchiness is caused by something else. Reminder, although: Be certain to get common dermatology cancers screenings, too—Dr. Carroll says skin cancers of the breast (basal cell, squamous cell, and melanoma) may also trigger itchy breast or nipple. 15. Yeast or Fungal Infection Chances are high, you have had a vaginal yeast infection earlier, however the infection can manifest in your boobs, too. There are a couple of totally different sorts of yeast infections you would possibly discover in your breasts, starting from nipple and areola infections which are widespread with breastfeeding to infections within the fold of the skin underneath the breasts (because of the sweat and moisture that get trapped there), says Dr. Martin. These itchy rashes differ in color—could be pinkish red, yellow-orange, or pinkish white—and are normally round patches which will have a superb scale over the top. Treatment: “Topical antifungal medicines like clotrimazole or miconazole lotions twice daily might be useful in lots of circumstances,” explains Dr. Martin. “For rashes underneath the breasts, making sure the skin is as dry as possible and keeping a layer of clothes (like a well-fitted bra or handkerchief) between skin folds can also be useful.”

cold weather survival tips so y’all can start the new year with soft glowy skin
I posted a list of beauty tips for hot weather on my old blog at the beginning of the summer and it went over really well, so I thought I’d do a cold weather version now that we’re in peak chapped-lips-and-cracked-hands season.
Do yourself a favor by going to the nearest drugstore and buying the biggest tub of Vaseline/petroleum jelly you can find. 90% of Dry Skin Problems(TM) can be solved by slapping some Vaseline on there.
Seriously. Chapped lips? Use Vaseline as a lip balm. Dry, cracked heels? Slather those feetsies with Vaseline right before you go to bed (just put socks on to keep from getting your sheets all sticky) for an overnight moisturizing treatment. (You can do the same thing on your hands if they’re dry and cracked!) I’ve even used Vaseline to fix severe dry patches on my face and neck. This stuff is a lifesaver.
(You might also wanna get one of those tiny mini tubs to keep in your jacket pocket or in your bag, so you’ll always have it on you. It works way better than lip balm and is the only thing that can keep my lips from cracking and bleeding all winter long.)
While you’re at the store, it’s a good idea to invest in a good lotion. Most scented lotions (especially Bath & Body Works brand) actually make my dry skin worse because of the perfume in them, so you might want to look into an unscented formula. Try to avoid formulas that contain alcohol (which is sometimes used to make the lotion absorb faster) because they’ll dry you out worse than before.
I always recommend using lotions and moisturizers made for sensitive skin even if your skin isn’t actually sensitive, because they don’t have as many harsh ingredients that might draw moisture out of your skin! Looking for formulas with all-natural ingredients (like Burt’s Bees and Yes To) is another good way to avoid heavy chemicals.
Replace your makeup remover with olive oil. It melts makeup right off, and you don’t have to scrub at your face like you do with a lot of makeup removers. It’s also super hydrating and makes my skin feel SO SOFT after I use it. (Just be sure to wash it off with a cleanser before you go to bed.) A lot of people use coconut oil the same way, but I’ve never tried it so I can’t speak for how well it works compared to olive oil.
If your foundation sticks really noticeably to the dry patches on your face, a good hydrating makeup primer can help a lot. e.l.f. has really good, really cheap primers that I swear by, and they even have one specifically made for dry skin! (And you can find them at Walmart and most drugstores, so you can swing by and pick it up while you’re getting your groceries.)
Avoid “matte” or “mattifying” foundation formulas in general if your skin is really dry, because they’ll just make your dry patches more noticeable. Use a “satin finish” or “dewy finish” foundation instead, and if you want to make it look more matte you can always set it with a powder to take away the shine!
If your lips are really dry and scaly, the best thing to do is just exfoliate the dead skin away. You can make your own lip scrub really easily by mixing sugar with either olive oil or honey, and just rub it on your lips to buff off the dry skin. Be sure to follow with Vaseline or a good lip balm!
As a matter of fact, you should really be exfoliating your entire face once or twice a week, especially if you have really dry skin. You can buy exfoliating scrubs at the store for a few bucks or make your own. (My favorite is a homemade scrub with 1 tablespoon of cooled green tea, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and a few drops of tea tree oil. It makes my skin soooo soft and helps fade my acne scars.)
Consider replacing your moisturizer with a face-safe oil like jojoba or rosehip at night. (I wouldn’t recommend using olive oil or coconut oil for this though, because they’re a little too heavy.) I started using rosehip oil every night to help with the scarring on my face, and it makes my skin feel so good. It doesn’t absorb right away, so it’s almost like sleeping in a face mask every night, and you wake up with a baby-soft face. This is the first winter I haven’t had really dry patches on my face, and I think using facial oils has a lot to do with it.
If your lipstick is drying out your lips, use a very light layer of Vaseline as a lip primer! This also makes the lipstick go on smoother -- I’ve been using this trick for chalky/streaky lipsticks for years. (I told you, Vaseline is a lifesaver.)
I know everyone on tumblr is always saying this, but it really is important; you gotta stay hydrated. Drink water. (Drinks like soda actually dehydrate you, so it really does have to be water.) If your skin is just feeling a little dryer than usual, it could be because you just aren’t getting enough water. Increasing your water intake is a really easy, completely free way to help your skin out.
And fyi, these tips aren’t just for girls! If you’re a guy with dry skin, feel free to use any and all of the things I talked about in this post! Taking care of your body is gender neutral and everybody deserves to have nice skin.

When buying a hand cream, look for “a combination of emollient and occlusive,” Carroll told Global News. “These [ingredients] act as a physical barrier to prevent water loss.”
These agents have two noteworthy qualities: they prevent external factors (like water from hand washing) from drying your skin and they keep locked in the moisture your skin has already.

Lanolin, mineral oil and silicone are examples of occlusives, and emollients are ingredients like plant oils, mineral oils and shea and cocoa butter.

Humectants, like glycerin, honey and aloe vera, are also helpful for keeping your skin at maximum moisture.
During testing, a few Global News reporters found the creams they were assigned to be quite greasy. While it may not be the best for using a keyboard, Carroll said greasiness could actually suggest the product has a good combination of these ingredients.
“People need to play around with the formula … to find what works better for their skin,” she said. “Some people put too much product. You don’t need a lot.”
Reporters at Global News tried out some of the best and organized them by price: $10 and under, $20 and under and $20 or more.

Name of product: O’Keeffe’s Working Hands Cream Retail price: $9.99 Available at: A variety of retailers Product specialty: For extremely dry, cracked hands First thoughts: This cream looks and feels almost like a balm when you take it out of the container. You definitely only need to use a small amount because the product spreads a lot. It doesn’t absorb quickly, so your hands might feel a little greasy for a few minutes. End-of-the-day test: My hands felt extremely soft, and I didn’t have to reapply a lot. It was also unscented, which was surprising. Would you recommend this hand cream for winter? I would recommend this hand cream for the winter because it leaves your hands feeling very moisturized and soft without a lingering scent. You don’t have to use a lot of the hand cream to make a difference, which could make this a good investment for the winter. Score out of 5: 4 — Katie Scott

Name of product: Glysomed Hand Cream Retail price: $7 Available at: A variety of retailers Product specialty: Combines glycerine with chamomile and silicone to lock in moisture First thoughts: I don’t like anything about this cream. The smell is clinical, and the texture does not work for my skin type. It’s way too greasy and it never feels fully rubbed into my hands. End-of-the-day test: Because of how oily I found this product — it got everywhere — I was wiping my hands a lot. They felt the same at the end of the day as they did at the beginning of the day. Would you recommend this hand cream for winter? I don’t think I would recommend this product if you, like me, have relatively normal dry skin during the winter. However, it might be more effective for people with severely dry skin. Score out of 5: 2 — Meghan Collie

End-of-the-day test: My hands were definitely protected from the winter elements, but they were greasy. Would you recommend this hand cream for winter? Yes, this is an effective ointment for winter, but use it at home as a nighttime cream. Otherwise, it’s likely to get on your clothes and anything else you touch. Name of product: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hand Gel Cream Retail price: $8 Available at: A variety of retailers Product specialty: “Instantly boosts hydration for supple hands.” First thoughts: Why is this so light? My hands are pretty dry in the winter, and when I do buy hand cream, I look for a thick formula that is long-lasting. I thought this formula was way too light and wasn’t sure exactly how this would last all day. The one thing I did appreciate about this cream was the scent and how non-greasy it was. End-of-the-day test: My hands were less dry than before, but they were not supple, soft or smooth. Would you recommend this hand cream for winter? If you suffer from dry hands, move on.
