Star Trek Strange New Worlds: This inoperable deuterium refinery has been beset by problems including an inability to stabilize life support, EPS regulators, or even the lighting grid.
Me: (shrugs) Still brighter than the USS Titan-A.

I have so many critiques of the writing in Star Trek: Picard's third season that I don't think that I've actually expressed how incredibly ugly (and just what a stupid concept) I find the Constitution-III class to be
Tumblr media
And it's just such a complete vandalization of the original Luna-class Titan (of which it is, allegedly, a refit), which was a fan design, and was actually quite beautiful:

And my god, the ship doesn't even get to keep its *name*. It gets retitled the Enterprise-G because M'talas seems honestly to believe that the highest honour possible is to be pulped down and remoulded as a copy of something that he grew up with.

If I have one big complaint about Picard season 3... it's the bloody lighting!
Titan A is a beautiful ship with a beautiful bridge that I would like to see and it took Dave Blass's For Your Consideration for me to see the beauty of this bridge!
Tumblr media
Look at this beauty!
But also, apparently, the room we saw of Seven's was only Seven's sitting room.
Tumblr media
Seven's sleeping chambers are the doors to her left. I'm wondering if that's where her regeneration unit is, possibly engineered to be mobile and no longer the big alcoves.
It makes sense that apart from the Voyager model on her shelf, Seven's quarters are sparse, and the furniture is all standard issue.
I don't know if Seven ever caught on to the concept of personalizing a space. For the formative years of her life, Seven's never really had a private place of her own.
As far as we know La Sirena might be the closest to having a personal living space.
Also, look, again, LIGHTS.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who has been screaming about what — to me — looks like a design homage to Voyager’s sickbay wall pattern. For reference:

Yeah, two of my biggest issues with the finale are that Jack Crusher really should genuinely be in jail, and the Titan shouldn't have been renamed "Enterprise".
With Jack I'm glad he's safe (for Picard and Bev Crusher's sake), but he *intentionally* went alone straight towards what he assumed was a Borg ship, knowing that if he was assimilated they'd have the capability to immediately takeover Starfleet. His rash actions resulted in the deaths of hundreds (possibly thousands given Starfleet crew sizes) and the barely-averted annihilation of Earth. That's not an "Oopsie, you made a mistake, but we forgive you entirely" thing. That's an, "Well we understand you were under severe stress and pressure, but you're still responsible for these deaths and you're gonna have to do some time" thing *at best*.
As for the renaming of the Titan... as others have said before it's a massive slight against the legacy of Riker, of Shaw, and all the heroic work of Seven and her crew in holding the line against the entire Starfleet. It's also not a particularly good fit for the Enterprise name - the Enterprise is supposed to be the flagship, the trend-setter for the entire fleet. The Titan, while an excellent exploratory vessel, is distinctly middle-of-the-line. Where other Enterprises were a significant deterrent, the Titan-A /Ent-G was explicitly designed to be more suited to running from a fight. Honestly not a bad strategy at all, and it makes sense for an exploratory vessel, but optically not a great look for the flagship of the fleet.
Ok but does anyone else just… hate that they renamed the Titan? I feel like by doing that they're sweeping everything the Titan and its crew achieved and went through under the rug. This whole ordeal wouldn't have been possible without the Titan, and now they're renaming it Enterprise to honor someone else??? ok

I love Seven of Nine and I'm mostly pretty happy with how she was treated in Picard (its honestly better than how she was treated for much of Voyager), but I don't like the way they made her captain. I honestly think Liam Shaw was one of the best parts of the season and was a great contrast to a lot of the previous captain characters we've seen, and the fact that they killed him off so Seven could become captain felt really obvious and boring- even the way they did it felt super cheap and cliche (like I called the "he calls her Seven while dying and making her captain" beat EXACTLY several episodes before it happened). I would have loved to have seen him live AND her get promoted to Captain of a ship. I feel like both things could have happened, and instead they wasted a super interesting new character for the sake of a really trite plot beat. Also thought renaming the Titan the Enterprise at the end was kind of lame. We don't need that. Let it be its own ship.
