When you're used to seeing treaty-era fast battleships squeezing through these locks with just a few inches to spare on wither side, seeing this first generation dreadnought with so much extra room that she could damn near be doing donuts is kind of mind-boggling

Can I be honest with you guys?

I love this movie.

I am sorry, but I love the heckity heck out of this movie. It's perhaps the most sincere and accurate adaptation of anything ever made by a big Hollywood blockbuster. It never fails to make me smile, it's so much fun, which isn't to say the movie's good of course. It's an adaptation of a board game, how the hell are you supposed to make that into a movie?

Well, you just write it! Throw in a bunch of good character arcs, a handful of good actors, and a director who knows where to place the camera, and you get yourself a pretty mindless but genuinely enjoyable sci-fi action movie! Something we've been lacking of for a while by the time this movie came out, and isn't that worth celebrating? It's not reinventing the wheel but it's rolling it down a slope really well. And I think that's worth a golf clap.
