there’s something extremely extremely creepy about taking an actor that you have known since they were 13 years old, only JUST a teenager, and making them kiss a fully grown woman the second that they turned a legal adult.

Steve Blackman already has a ton of shit out against him which came out recently so it unfortunately doesn’t surprise me that he would write something like this but it makes me genuinely concerned for everything behind the scenes.

There has been a HUGE problem in the Umbrella Academy fandom since season ONE when Aidan was a 13-14 year old of people writing insanely disgusting stuff and defending it because his character was mentally an adult but oh my god did they make it worse. You’d think they’d protect actor & character by avoiding any romantic interaction but instead you have him kiss an actress 15 years older than him. The age gap being the age that he was when they filmed season two. Quite honestly I feel that if he could’ve done this seasons previously and gotten away with it then he definitely would’ve done it, given the jokes that are actively made.

Quite honestly may Steve Blackman never work again if this is how he treats his actors because this is awful. I’m not even done with the season but that gave me very little desire to continue and this show has been important to me in ways I can’t explain. Maybe I am blowing this out of proportion but it feels so insanely creepy and horrific to me and I needed to rant.

hey i dont go here but jayce's speech about viktor in s2e9 isn't him saying 'u should never have tried to heal yourself, you were perfect the way u were x3' it was him saying that viktor's physical health never made him any less beautiful, never made him any less important, never made him any LESS, period. he wasn't saying viktor didn't need to pursue a cure for his ills like come on his motivation to invent hextech was to help people. to cure disease. viktor's first and foremost among them.

he said what he said because it was the thing viktor craved to hear most in his life, and that is why those were the words that punched through his defences even as the machine herald: jayce loved him wholly and unconditionally, healthy or ill, good or bad, human or inhuman. he would always be loved just the same.

it is beyond infuriating how anne rice seems to insist on marius being a positive force in anyone's life ever. like she can't fully commit to exploring the fact he groomed armand and has repeatedly taken away his consent for what marius thinks is best (take the end of TVA as an example) and just kind of flatly puts it in the narrative. there's not really much interest in how these horrific events make marius come across as the worst because EVERYONE loves him. for gods sake, lestat learns from armand exactly what marius did to him in TVL and then proceeds to go find marius and be super friendly to him in the same fucking book. even armand and pandora, two of the people who have MORE than enough right to hate him, do not. it doesnt feel like shes trying to explore the toxicity of the abusive dynamic he traps them in, it just is there. and like yeah ofc the toxic vampire romance series but i think that this should be handled with more care. and it is not ever really framed in a way that she is interested in exploring how marius should easily be one of the most horrific characters in this series because it kind of feels like sa/rape/grooming/other things of that sort are just put there to further plot and not to really get the respect that they deserve in a medium.

I really really REALLY think the story would have been stronger without august and day’s mom tbh. Actually even tho I didn’t like the august sub plot I can see how it made sense to help bridge the gap between day’s seeing life and his new blind life. But his mom? She wasn’t necessarily the one who kept him cooped up in his room for a year, I mean she didn’t help but day was also doing it to himself. Now in ep 10 tho she absolutely put him on house arrest and I’m really not happy about that. This is kind of all over the place but the point is, so far she hasn’t been that important to the plot and doing this whole failed-at-best eye transplant bullshit just for her to come to terms with his blindness is just. What the fuck. Everything that happened up until this point could have happened whether she was present or not. I guess night wouldn’t have been so parentified and glass child-ed (? lol) but honestly that shit was hard to watch so I could have done without it. Day and night could absolutely still have had one-sided beef regardless of her presence in their lives. She could have died prior to the accident and the bulk of the story would be the same obviously aside from this eye donation plot and GOD I wish that were the case. Ok yes and there would be no one to oppose mhok but that’s also like. Not necessary?? The point of the show (thus far) was accepting and adapting to a new way of life and grieving and love helping you find your way out of the dark and miss girl did not have to be there for any of that…. I guess I just have a tendency to sentence characters I don’t enjoy to permanent and retroactive removal from my screen lmao but we REALLLLLY did not need to go down this eye transplant road for the fucking mom’s character development and that’s the BEST case scenario!!!!! If it works then there was no point in going up that mountain at all and what the fuck was the point of any of it really?
