Lan Qiren does not drink coffee. The Lan Family ‘rules’ do not advise it.
Lan Xichen only drinks coffee occasionally, when he has a lot of work to do and knows there won’t be anyone (or only Certain People) around to see/hear him get completely hyper and then crash dramatically two hours later.
Lan Wangji drank Wei Wuxian’s coffee once to prove a point. They do not speak of it again.

@neinart asked: 4, 5, 10, 18 and 20 for the Asian QL ask game
Thank you~ 💜
4. Who is your ultimate Asian ql blorbo?
Payu from Love in the Air. I've experienced brain rot over a character before before, but never for this long lol
5. Who is the Asian ql villain you most love to hate?
Jin Guang Yao / Meng Yao from The Untamed. He was so skilled and covert in his evildoings and deception that I had no choice but to respect his game.
10. Which Asian ql couple do you think is under appreciated?
Sky and Paper from Second Chance. Honestly, not just the couple but the series itself is under appreciated in my opinion.
18. You get to pick a side character from two different qls to put in a show as a main pairing--who are you choosing and what kind of story is it?
Boston from Only Friends and Max from Be My Favorite. For the story, I'm thinking the "I'm busy chasing my dreams. Who's got time for love?" trope. They both end up in New York, Boston to study photography and Max to study fashion design with a minor in communications. They meet a few times at parties thrown by their mutual acquaintance. Nothing much comes of it at first, but their relationship evolves into a FWB. Everything's great, but Boston can't help feel a twinge whenever he wakes to find that Max has already left as of he was never there. Why does it matter that he never stays till morning? They both know what this is. Max finishes his program and the time has come for him to return home. Everything's fine. Boston is fine. A couple years have passed and Max is launching one of his largest collections since he established the "For All" fashion house. "Sam, do you have that list of photographers I asked for?" Max calls out from his office. "We need to start shooting these new pieces soon." Sam walks in and hands Max an iced americano. "Sorry for the delay, phi. I just sent sent it to your email. Their resumes and portfolio are attached" He takes a sip of his coffee as he opens the file and begins scrolling. A few pages in, he stumbles across a familiar name and a little smile plays across his lips.
21. We are retelling your favorite Asian ql from the POV of a side character--who is taking over the story and what do they have to say about the mains?
Definitely Plakao's POV from Wandee Goodday. Dee had that man FED UP so I know his commentary would be gold lol

Ever the graceful man as he was, childe was not ashamed to admit the scuff on his forehead was borne of sleep heavy bones tangled in his duvet. Fortunately, the stuffed narwhal he'd received as a gift broke his fall, nestled between his arms as it was…
Between his slightly less untamed hair and his morning coffee, he breathed out a sigh. Tension leaked from his shoulders, head leaned against the back of his couch.
Though still over aware of the sounds around him, he thanked the archons for days off. Well, as close as a harbinger could get anyways. Pray hope nothing urgent came up during his "me time."
Partway through his breakfast composed of vatrushka and coffee, a steady knock resounded on his door. Judging by the unhurried pace, this visitor was not of the fatui variety. He only knew one man in this harbour, then, who would visit him at all.
Setting down his mug onto his coffee table, he ruffled his hair as he stood, "I'm coming!" He called, shuffling his feet and trying not to trip on his oversized pyjama pants.
When he opened the door, Zhongli raised an inquisitive brow. Childe struggled to contain his embarrassed flush when the other man noted his narwhal pyjama pants, in his defence though, they're comfy!
"Have I interrupted your morning, Childe?"
His soft tone informed Childe he'd be more than happy to leave, if requested. A request Childe would likely never make. He shook his head, still beating back that darned blush, and invited zhongli into his small apartment. "Not at all xiansheng! Come in."
"Thank you for the invitation, then."
zhongli stepped inside, noting the largely barren interior as he slipped off his shoes. He noted the half eaten pastry on the small table, turning to look at childe. "What is that?"
Childe followed his gaze, shutting the door behind him with a click. "Oh, that? It's vatrushka, a type of pastry popular back in snezhnaya. Would you like one?"
"If it's not a bother, I think that'd be lovely," Zhongli hung his waistcoat by the door, blessing childe with the rare sight of the man without it.
"No problem at all, xiansheng! Make yourself comfortable while I grab you one," He chirped over his shoulder, already making his way to the fridge he'd stored them in. His scar-flecked hands grabbed a small plate for zhongli, ever the gentleman as the man was, he's sure it'd be appreciated.
He looked over his shoulder once more to the other, now notably seated on his couch. "Xiansheng, would you like some tea?"
Zhongli shook his head, "no thank you, childe."
With a nod childe brought over the small plate for his guest, handing it over with a small flourish before he plopped right back down onto his couch, grabbing his own pastry in the process.
"So what brings you here, zhongli-xiansheng?"
The elder man looked at him from his place, a little gleam in his eyes. "No reason, in particular if I'm being honest. I just felt the urge to come say hello."
Huh, that was odd, coming from zhongli. Although knowing him, childe wouldn't be able to extort any further information. He was sipping his coffee when a short hum sounded, he looked over once more with a brow raised.
"I'm just pleased that your dark circles have abated,"
The dim glow in his ochre-tipped hair and cor lapis eyes evidenced this fact, the old draconic traits leaking through in the comfort of his friends home.
"I was worried you hadn't slept, once more. I'm glad to see your well today," The end of his statement was followed with a soft smile, the corners of his eyes crinkling.
Childe smiled back, finishing off his pastry before thinking to ask zhongli's opinion of the snezhnayan delicacy. "Xiansheng, what did you think of the vatrushka?"
"It was very… different from liyuen cooking, but nonetheless enjoyable," Zhongli hummed, nodding his head slightly along with his words. As if to reaffirm these words to himself, a habit childe was certain must be centuries old.
He stood with a stretch, a groan rumbling through his chest before he whisked away zhongli's small plate. "Let me go get dressed, xiansheng, then what do you say to a spar?"
He couldn't deny his shock when zhongli replied with a simple, "very well," From his spot behind childe's back, and he couldn't contain the spring in his step after.
"Prepare yourself, xiansheng! I won't hold back."
He couldn't be sure, but he thought he heard zhongli reply, "I'd expect nothing less," Typical old man response. Shrugging into his plainest attire, fitted for training purposes, he hopped out of his room on one foot, busy pulling up his sock but too eager to slow down.
A snort came from zhongli, who soon began chuckling softly at childe's antics. "I'm not going anywhere without you, Tartaglia, don't fret."
"I'm not fretting! I'm just so excited for a good fight, I've been pent up for awhile."
Zhongli was still shaking his head as he stood, light-hearted chuckles leaving the man while he shrugged on his waistcoat and shoes. He turned to childe before they left, "i have some stipulations to this duel."
Childe was too excited to care, nodding his head eagerly like he did as a boy. "Okay! I'm just excited to see your strength for myself, xiansheng!"
Zhongli was shaking his head at childe's antics in amusement, opening the door and waiting for childe to pass before he began to speak his rules into existence.
"I want there to be no use of your vision or delusion, likewise i will not use my own."
Childe's jaw dropped, staring at the man beside him in disbelief. He waved his hands around him, sputtering in his usual manner, "but xiansheng! How am I supposed to have a good spar without them?!"
Not to be mistaken as him being unable to fight without, the problem lay in the fact his fighting style relied heavily on the flexibility of his vision. Without it, he'd be unable to summon his usual spears of water, and he wasn't sure how his limited weapon arsenal would play out.
Zhongli merely smiled, inclining his head slightly. "That is for you to learn, childe. There are more ways than one to improve."
Childe was still taken aback by this claim, but he'd agreed without thought and he was a man of his word. He sighed, ruffling his hair and looking at the sky with mild disappointment. "Alright then, xiansheng. I still won't hold back though," he looked at his companion, shooting him a cheeky wink in the process.
Zhongli chuckled at the display, adjusting his wrist cuff in the same movement. "I'd expect no less from the 11th fatui harbinger."
Childe wasn't sure if he heard a hint of teasing in his tone, but if he'd debated mercy earlier, all such thoughts were now out of his head.
They were trekking quite a ways out, childe dually noted. The scenery was quite familiar though, and he could finally put a name to the place when ruins began to spring up around them. He quirked a brow, "why are we in the dunyu ruins?"
"To avoid any interruptions, I'm sure the average citizen of liyue wouldn't come this far," zhongli intoned.
Zhongli's words were logical, he reasoned it due to the reputation the area held of being highly hazardous. Stopping somewhere relatively flat, he planted his feet down firmly.
"Well xiansheng? I think right here has a mighty fine view."
Zhongli turned, summoning two simple spears from the ground with a motion of his hand. "I do agree, childe. The view here is lovely."
He proffered the weapon to childe, who took it and weighed it in his hands. With a couple solid swings and rotations he could feel the perfect distribution of weight in the weapon. He smiled over at the ex-archon,smug confidence oozing into his words, "a very fine weapon, xiansheng, I'm sure it'll serve me well."
Zhongli, ever the quiet man, merely smiled at him. "I'm glad it's to your liking, Childe," he swung his spear in a practised circle before settling into an easy stance. He nodded to his opponent, "try and land a hit, i wish to see your current skill level."
Childe scoffed at his easy arrogance, sure he was a war god, but those were days long past and skills fade with disuse. "Alright, xiansheng!"
His first attempted strike was aimed to zhongli's ankles, which was easily deflected by the older man. His movement was fluid, with no excess to it. Childe noted his position carefully, calculating where he may be weak to strikes.
When he came up empty, he opted for the second option. He struck various quick, light strikes to try and get a feel for the ex-archon, to no avail. Not a single hit landed, meanwhile zhongli occasionally struck childe, tutting some instructions such as, "don't leave yourself open," or, "childe, a little faster."
He was quickly growing frustrated, racking up small scrapes and bruises while zhongli remained in perfect condition, not a hair out of place. His frustration built in his chest, a hot sort of pressure egging him on, tempting him with the knowledge he had both his vision and his delusion at his fingertips.
This was, however, interrupted when a lawachurl roared nearby, stone-like hide having blended into the landscape. He and Zhongli had neglected to clear the area, which was well known for being dangerous, crawling with various enemies.
He jumped over on instinct, his delusion coming out in his mounting frustration. Foul legacy took him over slowly, only partially transformed and crackling along his skin in painful boughts of electro. Zhongli was saying something behind him, his voice muffled by the blood in his ears and pure focus on his enemy.
The enemy that was merely pulp dripping from his hands. When had he done that? Sure, he had been rushing over, but his foul legacy was demanding on his body, even now his palms were slowly starting to blister from the excess of electro.
He was letting his foul legacy go, kneeling on the ground in a puddle of red that he had made. His fingers, though blistered slightly, were covered in blood not his own, chunks of something he'd rather not know stuck under his nails. Zhongli was still talking, but he was too busy staring into space, zoning out and beginning to hyperventilate.
He had done that like it was nothing.
His head rushed, dizzy from the thoughts coming over him quickly, vaguely registering a hand on his shoulder as he shuddered. If that was so easy, what would happen if he lost control near his family?
Visions of red came to mind, childrens screams in familiar voices begging him for mercy, a mothers cry of his name not far behind. His fathers voice ringing through his ears, repeating words he'd had engraved onto his heart long ago.
"You can't be my son, you're a monster."
He was being carried, he could tell because he was rocking, moving in a way he himself did not. Words drifted through his ears, barely registering, various murmurs of apologies and "I'll make sure your alright, your safe."
Reassurances he was sure weren't needed. He was fine. He had to be fine. He wouldn't know what to do if he wasn't. Yeah, he was okay, this was normal. Everyday occurrences that everyone else experienced.
That was the only thought holding him together, just barely keeping his seams from tearing under pressure. The scenery passing by had been pleasant earlier, but now he gazed simply at the dim cor lapis hair tips that sometimes swayed into view, a deep voice narrating their location and destination.
He was losing consciousness, quickly. His vision was black at the edges and the pain in his palms was numbing, and dimly he heard himself say, "I'm fine, xiansheng," tonelessly before finally letting himself slip under, noting the click of a door as he did.

Visit Oman for these five reasons.
Tumblr media
Oman is among the best travel destinations in the Middle East, according to Forbes, and for good reason. First of all, very few people are even aware that it exists, much less that it is brimming with wonders and sights. Anyone looking for a new adventure should thoroughly explore the vast lands and cultures that make up the nation of Oman as they are still largely unexplored by the tourism industry. Please feel free to look through our Oman tours if you're interested.
Oman's citizens are also among the most hospitable and friendly. Oman is without a doubt one of those exceptional nations that, in our opinion, has something to offer every single type of traveler, from those seeking opulent lodging to those seeking to venture off the beaten path, from culture vultures to adrenaline junkies.
Here are the top five explanations for visiting...
Tumblr media
1. Accommodations in Oman
Oman provides a wide range of excellent lodging choices, from opulent hotels to straightforward tent cities.
Numerous five-star hotels can be found in bigger cities like Muscat. For instance, the Six Senses Zghy Bay complex has a holistic spa and an infinity pool. Additionally, Muscat's The Chedi is a stunningly elegant beachfront resort. The majority of hotels in major cities are reasonably priced and of high quality.
Here are some of the items on our list:
Al Bustan Palace in Muscat : Enjoy fine dining, partake in a variety of water sports, and select between views of the mountain, the sea, or the garden at Al Bustan Palace in Muscat. Additionally, this hotel has a 1-kilometer long private beach that is the longest in the nation.
Golden Tulip (Nizwa): A four-star hotel with a view of the magnificent Hajar Mountains. There is an outdoor swimming pool and sauna, as well as restaurants serving Arabic, Chinese, and Indian cuisine.
Atana Khasab (Khasab): Atana Khasab is proud to offer traditional Omani accommodation. There is an outdoor swimming pool, and the hotel overlooks a magnificent view!
Away from the five star areas, the accommodation is of a good standard, with a variety of boutique hotels. The more daring can choose to glamp in a luxurious fixed camp like Desert Nights or go wild camping in the Empty Quarter, where everyone will be prepared to set up camp.
Tumblr media
2. Delicious Omani cuisine
Oman's location in the Middle East, along with its proximity to neighboring countries, Asia, but especially India, have all had an impact on the cuisine there. As a result, the cuisine in this part of the Middle East often combines a variety of spices and tastes.
Shuwa, the national dish of Oman, is a must-try if you're in the countryside. It consists of slow-cooked lamb or goat over rice with flavorful spices. Traditionally, this dish was only served on special occasions and was prepared in a type of earthen oven. However, some Omani restaurants now serve it.
Chicken rice called mandrouba and sweets made with honey are additional Omani staples.
Almost everywhere, Omani kahwa and dates are offered as a sign of hospitality, with kahwa being Omani coffee served with cardamom.
Tumblr media
3. Unique and suggestive landscape
The most towering sand dunes in the world, as well as untamed beaches and rugged mountains, make up Oman's breathtaking landscape. If you're considering a trip to Oman, some of the most well-liked destinations to check out are:
The Al Hajar Mountains: The Wadi Nakhr Gorge and Jebel Shams, Oman's highest peak, are located in the Al Hajar Mountains, one of the nation's greatest natural wonders.
The Empty Quarter: The Empty Quarter is 650,000 square kilometers of desert with outstretched orange and white sand dunes, while the Musandam Peninsula's fjords hide remote fishing villages and white sand beaches.
Wadi Bani Khalid: One of the best swimming spots in Oman is Wadi Bani Khalid, which lets you cool off from the intense desert heat. These emerald pools are in good natural condition.
Hawiyat Najm (Bimmah Sinkhole): Southeast of Muscat is a well-known tourist destination in Oman called Hawiyat Najm (Bimmah Sinkhole). The DailyMail referred to it as the most impressive chasm.
Because it has a coastline spanning more than 3,000 kilometers, Oman is also exceptional in the Middle East. The importance of the sea to Omani life is quickly understood by visitors.
Tumblr media
4. Perfect escape
Oman is accessible for a quick vacation thanks to the approximately seven and a half-hour flight from London to Muscat. This makes the nation a fantastic mid-haul vacation spot for people looking for some winter sun.
Tumblr media
5. Family-friendly destination
Aside from the relatively short flight time, which makes traveling to Oman with children relatively stress-free, it's also a great destination to visit during Christmas or the October and February half-term holidays, when the weather is at its best. In addition, Oman is one of the Middle East's safest and most stable nations, making it the ideal option for families seeking a little something different. There are many family-friendly activities available, including camel rides and snorkeling.

The conversation between Tory and Kelsey
As I get tempted to flip over my coffee because I can’t sway my head and listen to “Proud Family” anymore… I ponder on how one decision can change your whole life. A drunken night at a huge celebrity's house will have you craving the hot wings and liquor with your cat-suit on ready to snap photos and feel like you’re on top of the moon. As I sit here, a bit upset I can’t even bop to “Beauty in the Benz” anymore either… The question asks, what we all would do if we were full of liquor with our eyes on someone who has our flesh more untamed than our soul. In my humble opinion, things get wild when there is liquor and flesh involved and baby I almost dropped my phone when I heard the conversation between Tory and Kelsey. Some debate that he could have been talking about anything… Others debate that he's guilty. I’m making light of this, but one can only imagine what was transpiring in a huge house full of rich people up until the night began to take a turn. This trickles down to the subject of how you separate the talent from the person… or do you ever? Artists tend to get the heat and burden when it comes to being artists. Their fans simply see them as artists and not human. I am not at all condong what Tory did… I am simply saying this should be a lesson to all of us young people of how one decision can change your entire life. Some of us don’t seem as ready as we think we are. All parties still being young, sometimes you can get fame so swiftly it hits you in the face and although you’re on earth like everyone else, you still feel like you’re sitting on a cloud. As a woman of God I can’t deny that night seemed to simply turn demonic. This is also a lesson of us being careful where our feet tread. What looks good isn’t always good and we live in a very visual culture. And sadly, most of us would have still wanted to “be there.” mansion, rich people, and liquor has most of us “sold.” It comes down to placing your soul where you won’t have to regret in the morning… Sometimes things happen, but we can’t help but to wonder if that night could have been avoided. Prayers to everyone involved.

Humor was his first line of defense. He'd toss out a joke to mask the emotion raging within. Sometimes, it worked favorably, while others, it backfired beyond fix. The cool delivery from the other male offered a blanket of comfort and understanding.
Silence was okay. Silence was normal. Silence was... sometimes inevitable.
"That's my problem. I tend to fill the silence with bullshit," he countered, a hint of a smile pulling at the corners of his mouth. When in doubt, he'd ramble on and on until someone on the other side silenced him. "I'm not so good with my own thoughts."
He was his own worst enemy. When left to his own devices, negativity spread into his bones like a wildfire and consumed him from the inside out. If derailed his own life, if he made the active decision to ruin things... no one else could do that for him.
The quiet drumming against the ceramic mug was a nervous habit. There was no beat in particular he tapped, but the low thud of every drop of his finger brought him comfort. That, and the occasional hold of Jesse's oceanic gaze.
Atlas couldn't look into those calming waves of blue as the barista spoke. Instead, his focus dropped to the floor in front of the stove. He'd sat there, curled up and broken from a mistake that hadn't even been his own. The drumming against the mug ceased and his chest tightened at the memory. One major screw up that could have changed everything... that would have changed everything had strings not been pulled in his favor.
"I want to forget too. I don't want to be stuck on this loop, you know? It doesn't really help anyway." It often made him sick to the point of the bathroom floor being the only place he could find an ounce of reprieve. The cool tiled floor wasn't meant to be a safe haven.
Helpful or not, it hadn't stopped him from reaching the bottle. He lowered his mug to the marble countertop of the island, the coffee within all but drained. His palms rested flat against the cool surface, his heart hammered from the emotional high and the caffeine he'd sucked down.
Was he like James? The stand-in father that had kept a safe distance his whole life? It seemed unlikely. "Did you and your old man get along?" It wasn't an intentional push for information, but the untamed curiosity within him had gotten the best of him. "I'm sorry. You don't have to answer that."
There was no expectation of anger from the man who'd only shown him a gentle handed approach. Unlike his mother's quick-to-temper responses, Jesse had shown him nothing but kindness, even in unplanned times.
Behind an oak door were half empty bottles and unbroken seals on others. "I want to say yes, but I don't know." He could dump every bottle within, but if the temptation hit him like a brick, he knew where the liquor store was and having free roam to the shelves seemed far more dangerous than the collection he'd built in his own home.
Tumblr media
The construction worker nodded slowly, his jaw aching from the pressure of grinding teeth. He was innocent, even if she didn't believe it. "She showed up here all pissed off and accusatory. I get it, you know? I don't have to be a genius to know how it looks to her, but she wouldn't believe a goddamn word I said." And why would she buy into any of it? He'd pushed back and let his own temper get the best of him.
A tragic example of being ill-tempered like his mother.
Life had given him a chance to do right by his family forged by impulsive decisions. If he'd stayed in Colorado, if he'd talked out his emotions rather than burying them in a bartender... things could have been different, but they weren't and against every odd, it had made him a better man. "You're right. About everything." His mother had held far too much control over him for years, even when he claimed indifference, her opinion still mattered.
"You're a good man, Jesse." It was an understatement, but he'd never been more confident in another statement. The barista, despite his own darkness, was one of the best people he'd ever had the pleasure of knowing. "And you don't have to be the one who apologizes for my family's stuff. I appreciate it."
Another apology danced on the tip of his tongue, but he swallowed it down and nodded in acknowledgement. "You aren't along either. I'm always just a text or a call away. No matter what," he assured with a outstretched hand towards the other. He had a half mind to round the island, to wrap the other in a tight, two armed hug, but a formal shake seemed like the safer play. "Family doesn't have to be a bad thing." As far as he was concerned, Jesse felt more like family than his own flesh and blood.
@jesseelmassalamy
A lazy half shrug decorated the barista's shoulders. "I've never been a big talker either, never felt the need to fill every silence." Even in his younger days, before everything as he had known it had fallen apart, when he was supposed to schmooze and charm the elite of Boston and beyond Jesse was more of a listener and observer.
"Don't feel like you need to do that either. As crazy as it is up here sometimes," the once policeman directed an index at his head, "I'm strangely okay with my own thoughts."
Perhaps it was because he knew what was beyond the bottom of an empty bottle. He'd crawled and clawed his way out of hell one too many times, and now, because of it, nothing much fazed the man.
The question was a good one, and Jesse smiled a little at it as the words hung between them and sipped at the hot coffee as Atlas moved closer. It didn't burn the way it used to anymore, he'd grown accustomed to the sometimes scorching temperatures and maybe even welcomed them a little.
"I finally learned that it was only making me sicker. That I couldn't drink it all away and drown out all the bad and horrible things," he confessed, then tacked on, "I learned that you drink when you want to remember, not when you want to forget. And I'm trying like hell to forget."
What the Boston native had failed to accomplish was his own Leaving Las Vegas moment. He'd tried in a few places in Europe to drink himself into oblivion, only to blackout and believe the abyss had finally taken him to wake up and keep one surviving. The lows he had experienced were depths most people wouldn't have been able to walk away from.
More than once he'd wondered why he had.
For a long moment, Jesse looked into the depths of the other man's gaze, "it's pretty simple." What wasn't, he was unable to extract the pain and torment others went through. Like Atlas here, he had to do it himself.
Given that he wasn't privy to the Williams family drama and what was going on with Atlas specifically when he'd talked about his father, he couldn't offer up much. "You know, I grew up with my father... around," if someone with a heavy workload could be considered that, "and I turned out vastly different from him. You've gotta make the good choices for you and stop looking at the way other people are getting by. It's not living if you're living in what ifs."
From what Jesse could gather, Atlas was making all the right moves right now, all he could hope was that the other man didn't expect that things wouldn't be incredibly challenging. Thing were going to get worse and there were going to be some major breakdowns while he detoxed from a life of snagging a bottle anytime he was inconvenienced.
"Do you think you're ready to clear out your stash and temptations?" The pride on the man's face was good to see and the barista wasn't looking to push things too fast, but he needed Atlas to take the initiative. Jesse would be there, he'd pour out every bottle if needed or asked. The knowledge that there was a liquor cabinet nearby came by way of a recovering alcoholic.
The mention of the missing woman clearly ignited a fire within the construction worker. It was easy to see how much the sister had effected him, and while accusations were far fetched in Jesse's opinion he still wondered beyond the information he was given. "Is this the woman's who's missing flyers are posted all over town? We have a couple posted at The Midnight Club." There was skepticism in the darker hues of the other man on the other side of the kitchen island, his gaze didn't falter at all.
As a former policeman, some part of his interested was piqued.
Tumblr media
"I'd just take it easy on the sister," he had one of his own, "imagine having to put up missing posters of someone you love." It was one of the most gutting feelings he could imagine and if it was his own sister he'd tear apart the earth.
A faint smile ghosted the barista's lips and he nodded at hearing mom and baby were doing just fine. As Atlas went on about confronting his mother and clearly was disappointed by the results, his brow creased. "Sorry about your family struggles. It's amazing how much love hurts us." That's actually what love was— pain and hurt. While the highs were great, they were always short-lived. "It's amazing how the people that are supposed to love us the most are the ones that hurt us the most."
Still, Jesse didn't talk to his entire family. Somewhere in the range of six to eight months after Ashlee's passing he up and left. The return he made a couple of years later only raised questions he could deal with nor answer, so he fled once again.
"You know who you are, or you're on the journey to figuring that out. Only you are going to be able to open yourself up to fulfillment, and I now its still very raw but you're gonna have to let this go. Stop giving people all the power over you."
Easier said than done, Jesse knew that, but he was hoping that it was sticking that Atlas would have to consciously make these decisions and work at them if he every wanted to get better.
"You don't have to apologize to me, it's okay." His head shook side to side a little, "it doesn't matter what happened. All I'm saying is you're not alone." / @atlaswilliams

CQL Characters Coffee Orders
Wei Wuxian: Wei Wuxian has ADD/ADHD and is one of Those for whom stimulants have the reverse effect. He really enjoys coffee! He likes to have a nice freshly made espresso at the end of a long day to relax, or before bed sometimes. Not really in the morning, though. He also is That Guy about the tasting notes, which annoys Lan Wangji to no end. He will drink black coffee but his favorite is a well-made cappuccino.
Lan Wangji: Lan Wangji has tried coffee one (1) time. It was disgusting, he barely managed to swallow it, and he has to admit that he judges Wei Ying slightly for his over-fondness for Gross Bean Water.
Jiang Cheng: Jiang Cheng drinks fancy black coffee. You will not catch him dead at a dunks. However, ever since The Incident (he may have had to go to the er with heart attack symptoms. it may have been heartburn and anxiety from too much caffeine and not enough food), he is only allowed to drink decaff.
Jiang Yanli: Jiang Yanli is also not allowed to have caffeine but it’s because she has a heart condition. She usually goes for mint tea, but she likes the smell of coffee!
Lan Xichen: Lan Xichen has had enough coffee to know that he really does prefer green tea, but he does not judge others for their preferences. He might judge A-Yao’s habits a little, but that’s because that rate of consumption really cannot be healthy.
Lan Qiren: Does not drink coffee and does judge others for it. Has a whole spiel about how it is not healthy and is in fact a drug. Drinks tea and feels morally superior about it.
Wen Qing: Wen Qing is a combination coffee addict and coffee snob. She drinks single source, fair trade, organic, rain forest friendly pour-over from small roasters ONLY. She and Jiang Cheng bonded about this until The Incident and now she makes merciless fun of him for only being able to drink decaff.
Wen Ning: Hot chocolate ^_^
Jin Zixuan: Thinks he’s a like. Real Coffee Guy because he has a keurig. Buys the kinds of coffee that are expensive without being good. Would fail a blind taste test between gas station coffee and like. George Howell. Puts a truly insane amount of milk in it to the point where it’s like. Coffee flavored milk. Just an embarrassment.
Jin Guangyao: Jin Guangyao is a black coffee purist. If you leave room for other things in the cup, that is less caffeine you can fit in the cup, which means less energy to do your work. He appreciates good coffee but he will drink anything. He really isn’t picky. As long as it’s caffeinated. He also drinks coffee like it is going out of style because it is, first and foremost, a vehicle for caffeine, and this is the only stimulant he can justify using to himself. But he definitely knows the difference between the good stuff and the not-good stuff, and really appreciates the good stuff when it’s available. He is also a light-roast purist because light-roast has more caffeine in it :) :) :)
Jin Zixun: Is That Guy who simply Must find a Starbucks and thinks he’s like. Hot Shit because he Only drinks Starbucks coffee, specifically that extra dark roast garbage that tastes like it’s burnt. If you take him to a good coffee shop, he just bitches about how it’s not as good as Starbucks very loudly and tries to order Italian sizes regardless. He always orders either a latte or an americano, depending on how much of a douche he wants to look like today.
Nie Mingjue: Black coffee. He also cannot tell the difference between the good stuff and gas station coffee, but he knows this and thinks it’s a point of pride. He has had many arguments about how “coffee is coffee” with Jin Guangyao who would really appreciate it if they could get something maybe just a little nicer than folgers for the breakroom, you know, since they have it in the budget?? Maybe????? (They can’t because Nie Mingjue doesn’t see the point in spending money on something that in his opinion is identical to folgers but with fancy packaging).
Nie Huaisang: He goes to the Most Fanciest Coffee Shops and orders like. $10 rose-flavored cafe au laits and lavender lattes and shit. He also puts pictures of them on instagram like a clown.
Xue Yang: He gets THE sugariest, childishest, most ridiculous drinks. Like. Funfetti frappacinnos. With extra whipped cream. And sprinkles. He has no shame about this. This is, in his opinion, Living The Dream. Jin Guangyao both indulges and judges him for this.
Xiao Xingchen: Xiao Xingchen has a whole Conspiracy Theory about antioxidants or something, so he Does Not drink coffee, but he is so happy to make you this nice herbal tea that he learned how to make on the mountain from wild foraged plants!
Song Lan: Iced coffee all year round baybee!
A-Qing: A-Qing will drop a redbull into a large black coffee, chug the whole thing while making direct eye-contact with Xue Yang, burp loudly, crack her knuckles, leave, and return three hours later with like. 30 purses, eight to-go bags, and a cat on a leash, none of which belong to her.
Su Minshan: Su Minshan is the dunks loyalist. He simply must find a dunkin. He insists it’s actually good (it’s not). And yes, it’s the classic massive flavored (hazelnut) iced coffee with milk. Jin Guangyao wants to judge him for this but it’s kind of weirdly charming.
Jin Ling: Also orders like. Funfetti frappacinos. But he’s very defensive about it. He threw one on Lan Jingyi once for making fun of his “baby drink.”
Ouyang Zizhen: Chai lattes, which he thinks are Grown Up and Interesting.
Lan Sizhui: Hot Chocolate ^_^
Lan Jingyi: Mochas. He thinks this means he’s a cool grown up, but he will also Cut You if you make fun of Lan Sizhui for ordering hot chocolate.
Qin Su: Coffee with a respectable amount of milk.
Mianmian: Black with sugar, the absolute madman.

Are real people as kind as you characters? I mean, it's not just yours, other fictional people are like that too, but what do YOU say? Are you guys actually like that on the inside?
today i got a coffee on my lunch break and a man had his daughter on his hip and two coffees in his hands and he held the door open for me anyway
i went to go pick up a skirt that was being held for me and the employee said to me “uhg, i’m so tired, the coffee hasn’t kicked in yet” and i said “your hair is so beautiful” because it was long and red and shiny and had blown out curls and she perked up and said “thanks! it’s to distract from the fact that i didn’t put on makeup this morning”
i was driving home and i realized i was in the wrong lane and i needed to move over and a car slowed down so i could merge in front of them
that was just today
whether or not you think people are kind is a sort of confirmation bias, i think
if you go through life expecting people to be terrible, that’s what you’ll remember, that’s what you’ll focus on
but if you go through life looking for kindness, that’s what you’ll find
overtip your waiters. let the car go in ahead of you. smile at the homeless person and give them your spare change. compliment people.
you yourself are likely never more than one rushed morning away from a bad mood, one missed paycheck away from suffering, one accident away from ruin
you are probably not a politician or a ceo or a god. you cannot remake the world in your own image
but you can make other people’s lives easier and softer in small, effortless ways that cost you nothing. you can be the silver lining not just for your friends and family but for hundreds of thousands of strangers you haven’t even met yet. life is nothing but one opportunity after another to both show and be shown kindness
life can be cruel. people can be terrible.
but the simplest way to increase the number of kind people in the world is to be one

sometimes people are absolutely WILD about comments, acting like the idea that they shouldn’t be a jerk is a violation of their first amendment rights
last week i read a fic i HATED. it was well written and highly recommended and i wish i had never read it. hours of my life i will never get back.
i disagreed with: it’s interpretation on canon, it’s take on mental health, the social contract between loved ones, recovery, trauma, boundaries, and ... more tbh
i could NOT stop thinking about how much i disagreed with it. me and this fic have philosophical differences so large i could give a ted talk and i was still super irritated about it days later.
so you know what i did?
i called up my friends and was like “you guys have no context but i’m going to bitch about this fic you haven’t read in this fandom you haven’t consumed for the next thirty minutes” and they were like “okay sure it’s a tuesday night, we’re in a pandemic, i have nothing better to do”
what did i not do?
leave a comment on this person’s fic because i’m a human person

wish there was a non rude way to be like "I understand your criticism, I don't even necessarily disagree with it, but I am doing these things on purpose, because I like them and I want to, and therefore your opinion has no value, because you might think me painting a room entirely pink is tacky, but I did it on purpose"

in the sixth months after graduating from college, with my very expensive degree from a good college, i ate nothing but bread. i worked at a bakery / cafe / restaurant and got half off one meal per shift but it was still too expensive even then. but at the end of every night we would throw out all the bread loaves that hadn’t sold, which was most of them, every night. we would fill up ten boxes to give away to a shelter and then we could take anything we could carry, and i couldn’t afford a half off deconstructed sandwich, but i could fill the cabinets of my apartment with bread. everyone who worked there was just like me, subsisting on discarded, overpriced bread.
(when the managers’ backs were turned i was taught to leave the trashbags of bread behind the dumpster rather than inside it, because it was locked after everyone left to prevent people from stealing from it. we would say we were going out to stack chairs and instead stack prepackaged salads prepared that morning in the narrow space between wall and dumpster, but that’s not what this is about.)
we were working valentine’s day, a little bit miserable about it, because customers are somehow worse on a holiday about love, and even if we were single we didn’t want to be here, and most of us had people we’d rather be spending the day with, and the snappish, hardass manager was working that day, and everyone could not wait for the day to be over.
we had a boxes of those bakery tissue sheets around and i was twisting it in my hands and i thought about how the first night my uncle spent with my aunt he had to get up early for work but didn’t want to wake her and the whole thing hadn’t been planned, exactly, so he (a roofer by trade and a golden glove boxer by sport) went into the kitchen and took some paper towels and twisted them between his big, scarred hands until it formed a sweeter shape and when my aunt work up it was to a paper towel rose on her pillow.
so i used a couple sheets of bakery tissue to make a rose and walked up to my coworker who stared at me with a rictus smile and i gave it to her, trying not overthink if it was a weird thing to do. her smile slipped and she asked “you made this?” holding it carefully, like it wasn’t something her two year old son could have made with his pudgy hands, and i shrugged and got more milk from the back.
then another coworker held the steamer too long when frothing milk, not on accident but because he was irritated, so i rolled another rose and tucked it in his apron pocket as i walked by. then it was just one more of us up front and it was nothing, thirty seconds of twisting paper to take the stack of cookies out of her hands and hand her a tissue paper rose, her lined face lifting into a grin as she proudly tucked it into the chest pocket of her shirt and i may as well have been standing in front of the ovens for how hot my face felt.
it was such a silly thing to do, i felt ridiculous, giving away hastily constructed tissue paper roses on valentine’s day, clumsy artful garbage. then one of the servers walked by and noticed and so i made her one too, and then other servers came by, leaning over the glass, and complimenting the flowers with big eyes, and i laughed and made more, still not sure if it was sincere, but even if it wasn’t, i figured making them one and handing it over was better than saying no.
then i went to the back again and the dishwasher yelled out “where’s mine? what about us?” and he was too sweet to ever be anything less than sincere, so someone kept an eye on the door to the manager’s office as i stood in the sweltering kitchen and rolled clumsy tissue paper roses, enough for everyone
and by the time the day ended, everyone had one, everyone wore one, tucked in their shirt or their apron or stuck in their hair or taped to the top of their pen. everyone was a little less miserable, smiling like we were all on in on the joke, although i don’t think any of us knew the punchline
this story doesn’t have a punchline either. i just sometimes think of how much better some crumpled tissue paper made things and think that it can be that easy, sometimes, if we’re sincere and don’t overthink it too much

I worked at a McDonald's as a cashier in high school and it was during a time when they changed their POS system (point of sale, not piece of shit) so everything was now in a slightly different, less logical place, but I was working 20ish hours a week so I picked it up really quickly
Anyway I was out with my friend in the next town over and we went to a McDonald's because she really wanted an ice tea and we go through the drive through. The man greets us out of the little speaker and asks for our order and she says "Hi! Could I get a large sweet ice tea please?"
Silence.
Longer silence.
And I knew in my heart what was happening.
So I leaned over and said, "It's on page two of drinks, under juice, then the third one down."
Another much shorter silence.
Then:
"What the - how the hell did... Uh. I mean. Thank you?"
And it's been literally ten years but I'm still riding the high from that.

Are there any specific BL shows you would recommend to someone just getting into the genre?
Hmmm. This is always a hard one for me! Because there are so amazing ones but so many of them should come with warning and also if I start on the really good ones what happens when you finish those and realize the rest aren't that great?
Also, how do I give advice without knowing who I'm advising and their taste? That's the biggest issue for me with an 'intro course' because you never know what people like and don't like. There are people who hate every. single. show. I've recommended here.
Now, to clarify, I started on what I call the Netflix route. I watch The Untamed and then SOTUS and then found Viki and watched Love By Chance and that got me into the fandom. Would that work for everyone? Not a chance. But it just goes to show you that anything can get someone into a fandom if that's what they like.
So this is a list of BL shows i feel show the best of the industry... and a few on the list that are there because they show you what MOST of the industry is like as well. Take a sampling. Try a few shows. Don't limit yourself to any single country or genre. Sample.
There's SO much out there. You never know where your taste may take you. Search BL on My Drama List. Ask multiple people for where to get started. Look at gifsets on here and see what appeals. My taste may not be your taste, my idea of amazing may not be yours, my idea of the best of the best may not fit in with what you like.
So... ANYWAY. Disclaimer out of the way! Here's my list of where to start based on what I think is a good intro to BL itself through amazing shows and also trope-filled shows.
1. A Tale of A Thousand Stars: The story of a rich young man who needs a heart transplant, gets it from a young woman who was a volunteer teacher in a poor village and falls in love with one of the soldiers in the village. Absolutely lovely. Just fantastic. Gorgeous characters, amazing setting, fantastic story. Seriously. This will spoil you for a lot of lesser shows but if you start with it you'll know how good the genre can get.
2. Cherry Magic: Adachi is an office worker who considers himself awkward and boring and not very good at anything... until he turns 30, gains the power to read minds from being a virgin and discovers that the top worker at his office, Kurosawa, has a huge crush on him. The softest, sweetest, most gentle BL and just fantastic. Highest of the high recommendations. Seriously. A great place to start.
3. He's Coming to Me: Mes is a ghost. He's been dead for a long time. And Thun has been visiting, and seeing him, since he was a child. When Thun is going to University, he ends up taking Mes with him and their real adventure begins. Warning for death but holy shit is this one good. So good. Absolutely amazing and wonderful, plot-driven, a need to watch show.
4. Until We Me Again: WARNING: SUICIDE AND DEATH. In and Korn were forbidden lovers 30 years ago. Dean and Pharm dream of them every night and recognize each other on sight. Fate brings them together but can fate really lead to true love? An amazing show, absolutely beautiful, deep characters, deep plot, filled to the brim with emotion and highly recommended but heed the warning, okay?
5. Be Loved In House: I Do: When Shi Lei's new boss, Yu Zhen, takes over the jewelry store and introduces a rule that everyone working there must be single, Shi Lei is ready to throw hands for his friends. So what happens when he slowly finds himself falling in love with that strange man? This is just such a soft little show, filled with joy and softness and idiots. Absolutely a great place to start yourself on Taiwen BL.
6. All the Korean BL movies: I know that this is just a label but, like, literally all of these are soft and short and a great place to start to just get a feel for the shows coming out of Korea. Not as trope-y but just generally... good. ALWAYS watch the movie version.
Wish You: Tiny musician catches the eye of someone working for a record label
Where Your Eyes Linger: Bodyguard and the boy he guards
To My Star: Puppy movie star (who's more neurotic than he lets on) meets stiff chef (who's softer than he lets on)
Color Rush: In a world where a portion of the population can only see in shades of grey until they meet the person that lets them see in color... and are considered dangerous for this... a mono meet a probe. The best of the bunch!
Mr Heart: A marathon runner has stopped winning and another young man is hired to help him get back to winning. Honestly the weakest of these in my humble opinion.
Nobleman Ryu's Wedding: Historical Idiots being historically soft and historically stupid. That's is. Young man dresses as a woman to cover up that his sister ran away from an important marriage but the groom ends up loving him regardless.
7. Light on Me: A student who's never had a friend is convinced to at least give it a try and joins the student council where he meets a sweet young man, a jokester and an awkward and confrontational young man... and there's a lover triangle because what else would there be? Oh, this one is SO good and so soft and very emotional and sweet and has a fantastic love triangle and introduces you to tropes very smartly. Definitely a good place to slip into the genre and see how the tropes get played.
8. Ingredients: A chef lives with a musician and takes care of him every turn. Yes, it's an extended ad series. But it's also soft BL filled with every trope imaginable and it's a good place to just let yourself get used to Thai BL and how it feels.
9. Oxygen: When a rich young man who can't sleep finds himself at a coffee shop in the middle of the night, there's no way he expected to meet the love of his life. But when the barista offers him warm milk to help him sleep? He's lost. I put this one on here with a few reservations because there's a side pairing that is just horrible (skip all scenes with the doctors and the coffee shop coworker for your own good, okay?) but the rest of the show is just so good and so soft and I love it so much.
10. My Engineer: A sassy freshman meets a senior engineering student who is SERIOUSLY into getting sassed. A quiet introvert meets an extrovert who refuses to give up. One friend has been pining for years and has decided friendship is good enough. This one, again, goes on with reservations. It's a good start for getting into most of the more typical Thai BLs. Gives you the regular tropes, gives you the more typical relationship and friendship things... This is a good place to start if you want to be prepared for most of what you're going to watch, frankly.
There. I'll stop there. I think that's a good set. @absolutebl may have some more ideas? I kinda went basic on this list, no denials. And maybe a bit weird as well. No denials.

Xiao Xingchen doesn’t really have an opinion about coffee. He’ll just drink whatever someone gives him. If he’s at a coffee shop he’ll ask the barista to make him their favourite.
Song Lan orders long blacks. He thinks coffee should be enjoyed as it, without anything added to change the flavour profile.
Xue Yang drinks 50% espresso 50% syrup. The flavour syrup depends on his mood. Sometimes a mixture of syrups in the most horrifying combinations possible.
A-Qing enjoys stealing other people’s coffee, taking a sip, saying ‘ew I hate coffee’, and then giving it back to them.

From the time you were very young, you knew you wanted to be a teacher. One of your earliest childhood memories was going to school dressed up as one for career day. Your usually untamed hair was pulled back into a sleek bun (courtesy of your mother), and you donned a funky baby-pink sweater. For bottoms, you wore the closest thing to a pencil skirt you had in your five-year-old wardrobe. When you look back on the photographs your mother took of you that day, you did not resemble a teacher in any way. You were sure if you had not done your Career Day presentation in front of the whole class, no one would have even known who you were dressed up as.
Once you moved onto college and declared Education as a major, that was when people really started to let you hear their opinions on the career path you wanted to pursue. It seemed like whenever you went home for a holiday, relatives were always in your ear saying, “You know teachers don’t make a lot of money, right? Have you ever considered something in the sciences?”. You always responded, “I know, but what would the world do without teachers?”.
Eventually, you finished your undergraduate career, successfully completed student teaching with the highest praise from your superiors and colleagues, obtained your teaching credentials, and even went back to school to get your Master’s degree. So, it was much to everyone’s surprise when you settled on being a Kindergarten teacher. People assumed that because you completed so much schooling, you wanted to be a university professor. However, the thought never even crossed your mind. You always thought Kindergarten teachers were the most impressionable people out there and knew you wanted to be one.
To you, there was no greater responsibility than that of a Kindergarten teacher. It was your responsibility to teach your students reading, writing, art, and music at the most basic level. You showed them how to play with others, how to be kind, and give them the tools necessary to succeed once they leave your classroom. You were the first teacher your students ever had, so you needed to make them fall in love with school instead of hate it, considering they’d have to stick to it until they were at least eighteen.
You’ve been a credentialed Kindergarten teacher for the last three years, and you’ve loved every moment of it. You were one of the younger teachers at school, but you never felt left out. Your colleagues were amazing people who often shared tips and tricks they wish they knew when they first started teaching.
Now, you were groggily unlocking the door to your classroom, feeling those first-day-of-school jitters you always felt. You knew kindergarteners weren’t there to harshly critique you. Still, you wanted them to go home and tell their parents about how excited they were to have you as a teacher, not run home in tears. That never happened, of course, but you didn’t want to take any chances. You drop your keys and mutter a quiet, “Shit!” setting your travel mug filled with coffee on the ground and readjust the box of donuts you had for your kids on your hip. As you reach for your keys, you hear a deep voice ask if you need help. You quickly turn around, eyes wide from being startled.
“Oh! You scared me,” you place your free hand over your chest. “But yeah, actually, that’d be great. I’m struggling to get my door open.” The man nods, his own keys he wore around his neck jangling as he retrieves first your keys, then your coffee mug.
“I’m Harry– Mr. Styles, if you want,” he holds your keys out for you to take, your coffee mug still in his large hands. “Uh, I’m the new Kindergarten teacher.” You give him a confused look and trade the box of donuts in your arms for your keys, opening the door. “The last one, Mrs. Brown, I think it was, I guess she decided a few weeks back that she wanted to retire.” You get your door open and walk inside your classroom, turning on the lights. It was a little stuffy, considering you hadn’t been there to open any windows in about a month.
“Oh, that’s right! Welcome,” you give him a warm smile. “I’m Y/N– Miss Y/L/N if you want.” A slight blush appears on his cheeks. “We’re gonna be working together then, it seems. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Mrs. Brown, but it’ll be nice to collaborate with someone closer to my age, you know?” Harry nods, and you realize he still had your coffee mug and box of donuts in his hands. “You can just set that on my desk, thanks for helping out. Would you like a donut?”
“Um, I- it’s okay,” he stammers, setting the items down. “Sorry, it’s just that I’ll probably crash if I have a donut first thing in the mornin’.” You smile at him and move to open all your windows and the back door, wanting the stuffy classroom to air out a bit before the children got here.
“I totally get that,” you giggle, walking back over to your desk. “Are you excited about the first day? I always get a little nervous. I also talk a lot when I’m nervous, I’m sure you caught onto that.”
For the first time that morning, Harry laughs. “Yeah, I’m nervous, too. ’ve never taught in the States before, so this is a bit new to me.” He’s playing with the keys hanging from his lanyard.
“I noticed you had an accent, but I didn’t know if it was weird to ask about it. What brings you to California?” You open the box of donuts and take one out, wanting to eat it before it gets cold, and the glaze hardens.
“Uh, I went to University here, but when I graduated, I decided to go back home and teach for a couple of years. I really missed being here though and wanted to come back, so I got my credentials, and uh, here I am,” he tells you with a grin, and you notice he has deep dimples.
“Well, we’re glad you’re here,” you tell him earnestly. “The kids are just gonna love your accent, too!” you joke and Harry laughs for the second time that day.
“If all else fails, ’m hopin’ to charm everyone over with my accent,” he stares at you for a moment before speaking again. “Well, I better finish getting situated. It’s fifteen til, and I reckon the children will be arriving soon, yeah?” He asks. You nod.
“Best to be waiting at parent drop-off too, there are always a few parents that are just as nervous as their babies, if not more, and could use a quick pep talk.”
“Thanks for lettin’ me know. I was thinking about standing out there anyway, just to make a good first impression.” You take another bite of your donut, giving him a thumbs up.
“You’ve got this, Harry. I know you’re not completely clueless since you’ve taught before, but I know the first day can be a little intimidating. You know where I am if you need anything.” He gives you a grateful smile, quietly thanking you before turning to walk out the door. You’re left thinking about your new coworker, only being pulled from your thoughts of him when the first bell rings.
Tumblr media
“Good morning everyone, my name is Miss Y/L/N. Are you all excited to get this school year started?” A chorus of high-pitched yeses fills the room, and you smile warmly at your class. “I’m so excited that you’re all here! I have a little surprise for each of you!” You grab the box of donuts and walk back to the rug in the center of the room that the children usually sat on for storytime. Little gasps fill your ears, and they all say, “Donuts!” and “Yummy!”. You smile at the kids again, already feeling overwhelmed with how adorable they were.
“We all get a donut?” one little girl asks, her eyes wide. You nod at her.
“Of course! Everyone will get a donut, sweetie.” You move to get the plastic food gloves you kept so you can safely hand out a donut to everyone. “Okay guys, I’m going to pass a stack of napkins around the room. Take one and pass the stack to the person sitting next to you. Does that make sense?” All the students nod their heads in confirmation, so you grab a stack and hand them to the child sitting closest to you. “Once the last person has their napkin, let me know, and then it’ll be donut time!” You say this over-enthusiastically, and the children squirm in their seats in excitement.
As you go around handing out donuts to each of your students, you learn their names and ask them to tell you one fun fact about them. Most children say things like, “I have a brother/sister!” or “I can run really fast!”, and you find it absolutely adorable. One thing you loved the most about teaching five-year-olds was their ability to think everything was cool. It was comforting to know that no matter what you did, they’d find you cool, and your first-day jitters quickly dissipated. As the children eat their donuts, you read them a story, putting on different voices for all the various characters. You show them how to raise their hand when they have something they’d like to share and remind them to use their “listening ears” when you or one of their classmates are speaking.
When it’s time for recess, you show them how to line up quietly at the door, and assign a line leader and a hall monitor. You remind the children that they will all get a turn at these tasks eventually because it’ll switch every week, and not to worry. As you’re walking down the hall backward (one of your teachers walks that you’d finally perfected), you hear Harry’s voice.
“Okay Room Ten, we’re gonna go out to the playground now, where you all will get to play every recess and lunch. That sounds like fun, doesn’t it?” He asks them, and you hear little voices chattering out to him in excitement. You can’t help but peek into his classroom as you walked by, as his door was open. He didn’t see you because he was busy organizing his class into a straight line, so you keep going. Your class, who, much to your surprise, was walking very quietly, got loud once they saw the Kindergarten play area had a slide and monkey bars.
“We get to play on this?” one of your students, Destiny, questions.
“Yup! This is a pretty cool play area, isn’t it?” They nod and stare at you, waiting for direction. “Oh, you can all go play and run around, get some of that energy out. When the bell rings, though, I want you to listen to the yard teachers because they’re gonna help get you all lined back up so we can go back inside. Deal?” The children give you nods and thumbs up, and you grin at them, telling them to have fun and be nice to one another. As you’re turning to go to the teacher’s lounge to refill your mug of coffee, you see Harry walking down the hallway with his class, and decide to wait for him. He gives his class the same spiel you gave yours and tells them to “Treat each other with kindness” before noticing you waiting for him.
“Hey,” he gives you a grin, looking far more relaxed than he did when you saw him earlier that morning. “How’s it going so far?”
“It’s great,” you reply, leading him in the direction of the teacher’s lounge. “They’re all adorable.”
“Yeah, don’t know what I was so nervous fo’. They’re great. Also, you’re right,” Harry has an amused look on his face. “The first thirty minutes of ’em bein’ there was just them askin’ me to say things because they think I sound funny.”
“I told you!” you exclaim, laughing at him. “A British accent is definitely not something we hear every day, not here at least.”
“I figured,” he replies, and silence falls between you. “Where are we going, by the way?”
You stop in front of a blue door and sift through the keys on your lanyard, finally finding the one you were looking for. “Teacher’s lounge. Have you had the chance to check it out yet?” He shakes his head, and you pull open the door after having unlocked it. “After you.” He shakes his head and steps back, signaling you go ahead of him. You quirk an eyebrow at him, and he gives you a defensive look.
“What? ‘M a gentleman. Ladies first,” he insists, holding the door open. You walk inside the room, trying to refrain from rolling your eyes. There aren’t many teachers in the lounge. You figure they all must be in their classrooms, trying to do some last-minute organization and lesson planning amidst the first day of school chaos. However, a few colleagues that you’re rather fond of are in the room, so you take it upon yourself to introduce them to Harry.
“Hello everyone, I hope you’re all having a relaxing morning!” They chuckle lightly at your sarcasm. “I’d like you all to meet Mr. Harry Styles. He’s the new Kindergarten teacher that took Mrs. Brown’s place.” A look of realization washes over all three teachers’ faces, and they warmly greet him. Harry goes around, shaking each of their hands, voice dripping with charm.
“Lovely to meet you all. Looking forward to collaborating,” he tells them quietly. They begin engaging in polite conversation, so you leave Harry’s side, walking over to the coffee station to get what you came for before recess was over. He joins you shortly after, grabbing a disposable cup. “They were a nice bunch.” He mutters, pouring the steaming coffee into his cup. You hum in agreement.
“Everyone here is nice. The lounge is usually much more crowded than this. Everyone else must be in their rooms,” you flick your wrist up to check the time. “We got some time to sit down and breathe for a bit if you’d like? Unless you wanted to get back to your room.”
“‘M in no rush, trust me,” he tells you, flashing you a small smile. “Let’s take a seat.” Harry walks over to an unoccupied couch and sits down slowly, taking care not to spill his coffee.
“You didn’t want a lid?” you question when you see him struggling. He shrugs.
“Not necessary. Jus’ some extra plastic,” you hum and look down at your lap. You were quickly learning that Harry was not a big talker, and he liked to get his point across in as few words as possible. Him being a Kindergarten teacher contradicted heavily with his rather bashful demeanor, but that just made him all the more endearing to you.
“Do you live nearby, or is your commute long?” you ask him after a few moments of silence. As soon as you ask the question, you internally cringe, feeling like it was too invasive. If Harry thought the question was weird, he doesn’t show it.
“I live in town. I actually walked here today, believe it or not,” he tells you with a chuckle. “Was such a beautiful morning that I figured I should.” Every time you think Harry can’t possibly get any more captivating, he does, and you find yourself biting back a smile.
“How long is your walk?” You cross your legs and then uncross them, a nervous habit that you had. Harry takes a sip of coffee, mulling your question over.
“I’d say it took me about twenty minutes. I was walkin’ at a pretty leisurely pace, though,” Harry shrugs. “How about you? Do you live nearby?”
“I also live in town, but I’m way too lazy to walk, so props to you,” you smile. “The best thing about living around here is seeing your kids out in public. It’s the cutest thing.” Harry smiles, not saying anything else. A silence falls over the two of you again but instead of feeling the need to fill it, you just sit beside him, drinking your coffee. Your mind wanders off to what you were going to do for the rest of the school day, if you had enough groceries in your apartment for dinner or if you should go grocery shopping after work, and if you remembered to pay your bills on time. The bell rings to signify the end of recess, and you jump slightly.
“Ready to go back?” Harry asks, standing up and walking back over to the coffee station. “Think’m gonna get a bit more.” You go to stand by the door, waiting for him to pour another cup of coffee. He quickly rejoins you, and the coffee sloshes a bit, some getting on his hand, but he doesn’t seem to notice. “Hope those lil’ buggers got some of their energy out.”
“Right! Mine was even more hyper than they probably would’ve been ’cause I gave them those donuts this morning,” you laugh. “So, for my sake, I hope so too.” When you and Harry arrive back at the Kindergarten play area, your classes are already lined up quietly awaiting instruction, thanks to the yard teachers. You and Harry both thank them and move to stand in front of your kids.
“Miss Y/L/N,” one of your children calls out from the back of the line. “Can we get more donuts when we go back inside?” You see Harry smile out of the corner of your eye as he’s giving instruction to his class.
“There are no more donuts, you guys ate them all! I have something even cooler than donuts planned for us, though, okay? Now, remember what I told you all about walking quietly, right? Mr. Line Leader, how does your line look? Do you think we’re all set to go back inside?” The child you appointed line leader turns around to look at everyone, occasionally shushing some people. After a few moments, he turns back to you, giving you a thumbs up.
Harry moves to stand beside you, leaning down to whisper in your ear. “Wanna eat lunch together and do some planning? I feel like it would be a good idea for us to be teachin’ the same things, more or less.” Your body feels warm all over, and you just look at him and nod, not trusting yourself to speak. Harry smiles and places a hand on your shoulder. At a normal volume, he says, “See you then, Miss Y/L/N.”

Upon entering Harry’s room, you’re immediately met with the scent of vanilla and the loud hum of the air conditioning. It was bright, adorably decorated, and surprisingly decluttered. It was the polar opposite of your room, and you found it very welcoming and comforting. “Nice set-up you’ve got going on in here,” you tell him. He jumps in his seat at his desk, not having heard you come in.
“Fucks sake,” he mumbles, face going red. “You scared me. Thanks, though. My sister helped me decorate, I don’t really have an eye for this type of stuff.” He rubs the back of his neck, sheepishly.
“Well, if you ever need any help decorating for back to school and your sister isn’t around, I’d be more than happy to help.” Harry smiles and suddenly gets up from his chair, offering it to you.
“Please, take my seat. I’ll just sit in one of the kids’ chairs,” he rolls it towards you, and you shake your head, about to object, but he interrupts you. “It’s okay, Y/N. Their chairs aren’t that bad.” You take the seat Harry was just in, mumbling a quiet thank you. He hums and pulls a tiny chair up beside you, legs scraping loudly across the floor. When he sits down in it, you can’t but burst out laughing.
“Harry, that chair is so tiny! Are you sure you don’t want me to sit there instead? You look so uncomfortable,” you tell him in between laughs. “This is your classroom, after all, I’m just a guest.” Harry shakes his head, cheeks flushed.
“It’s okay, Y/N, really. ‘M perfectly comfortable in this lil’ miniature chair,” he looks at the lunch bag you sat on his desk. “What’s for lunch?” You reach for your sack and unzip it, pulling out a pre-packaged salad from Trader Joe’s.
“I’m very lazy when it comes to packing my lunches,” you admit sheepishly, pulling out a fork. “How about you? Did you eat already?”
“Oh yeah, I had a green smoothie. Not a big lunch guy,” he replies calmly. “Wanna get started with planning? I think we only have about thirty minutes left.” He looks down at his watch to confirm the time. Harry opens his planner, and you see pages filled with his neat, blocky scrawl. He jumps right into talking about the ideas he had in mind, excitement filling his voice that you haven’t yet heard.
The passion and enthusiasm he has for teaching are evident through the way he tells you about the activities he has planned, new materials and teaching methods he wants to try implementing, and things he’s tried before that didn’t work out the way he wanted them to. He asks you for your advice and listens intently when you speak, jotting down notes.
You find yourself having to mentally remind yourself not to stare at him. He was a handsome man– there was no denying that. He had curly brown hair, soft and wild-looking, the most beautiful green eyes you’d ever seen, and arms covered in tattoos. You also noticed he had the tiniest cross on his left hand. You wanted to ask him about it, but you figured that was a conversation for another time.
“Y/N? Did you hear what I just said,” Harry asks, giving you a concerned look. “Are you alright? I think you just zoned out for a couple minutes or somethin’.” You nod quickly, feeling your palms growing sweaty.
“Oh yeah, sorry, I was just thinking about something I have to do later. What did you just say?” You play off how you were just wholly drooling over your new coworker, feeling scrutinized under his piercing gaze.
“Jus’ got an email from the principal. Said we have a faculty meetin’ after school at three. Wanna go together?” He asks. You know Harry’s asking you to accompany him primarily because you’re the only person he really knows so far. However, it still makes you feel warm and special. “He said we’re gonna go over some planning for the Fall Festival. What’s that?”
“Oh, it’s just the back-to-school festival. It’s adorable,” you explain. “It’s like a mini carnival that we have right here on the playground. Every year they have teachers host booths. It’s a great way to get to meet your kids’ parents and bond with the other faculty.” Harry nods, standing up from the tiny chair right as the bell signifying the end of lunch rings.
“That sounds lovely,” he chirps, smiling down at you. “We’re gonna have the best booth out of everyone Y/N, trust me.” He jokes, the corner of his eyes crinkling. This was the most Harry had talked since you met him that morning and you were enjoying witnessing him open up to you more and more with each conversation shared.
“It is,” you stand up as well, gathering your trash and empty lunch pail. “Thanks for having me, Harry. Next time we can meet in my room. I wouldn’t mind making this a daily thing.” As soon as the words came out of your mouth, you physically wince, figuring Harry had to think you were obsessed with him at this point. He looks down, the corners of his mouth upturned when he makes eye contact with you again.
“I’d like that, Y/N. I’ll actually start bringin’ a proper lunch, so you’re not the only one eating,” you smile. “I’ll meet you in your room after school?” You nod in confirmation, walking out the door in front of him.
“See ya later.”

“Did everyone have a good day today?” You ask your class, walking backward to the dismissal gate. You’re met with a chorus of cheerful sounding ‘yeses,’ and you place your hand over your heart in a dramatic fashion. “That makes me so happy, everyone! You’re all incredible little people, and I think we’re gonna have a fantastic year. What do you guys think?” The children chatter excitedly, glad to have made it through their first day of school and see their parents on the other side of the gate eagerly awaiting them, cell phones snapping pictures.
Harry’s already at the gate, waiting for the bell to ring so he can dismiss his class. He’s walking down the line asking each of the children if they see who they’re supposed to go home with, crouching down to their height so they can point them out to him. Some children in his class look a little upset because they don’t see their parents yet. Harry quickly consoles them, telling them they can all play a fun game together while they wait for their ‘Mummies and Daddies.’
You do the same with your kids, and by the time the bell rings and you finish dismissing the ones who saw someone there to pick them up, there was one child from your class who was still waiting and two from Harry’s. He walks over to you, one of their tiny hands in each of his. The boy looks unbothered, but the girl was beginning to cry.
“Hey, Ava, should we ask Miss Y/L/N and her friend if they want to play iSpy with us? The more, the merrier, isn’t that right?” He looks down at her, and she nods, looking down. You figure she’s one of his more shy students he was telling you about earlier.
“Hi, sweetie! I’m Miss Y/L/N, are you waiting for your mom or dad?” She nods, biting her lip. You turn and gesture to your one student who was waiting as well. “Well, so is she! Don’t worry, they’ll be here.”
“I’m Matthew,” the little boy holding Harry’s other hand informs you, shifting from foot to foot. You give him a big smile.
“Hello, Matthew! I love your Spiderman shirt; he’s just the coolest. Jade, do you want to introduce yourself to Mr. Styles, Ava, and Matthew? Remember when we learned about introductions today in class? When you got to introduce yourself to all your classmates?”
Jade nods, a big, toothy grin on her face. “Hi! My name is Jade, and I am five-years-old but my birthday is September 19th, so I’m actually almost six-years-old,” she tells them matter-of-factly. “It’s very nice to meet you!” She adds, remembering the script you gave them earlier. Harry looks down at her, an impressed look on his face.
“Well, it is very lovely to meet you too, Jade! Do we all know how to play iSpy?” Jade and Matthew shout in excitement, but Ava just grips tighter onto Harry’s hand. He looks down at her again. “Do y’ want Miss Y/L/N and I to show you how to play, Ava?” His voice is very quiet, slow, and soothing. She nods, letting go of his hand.
“Well Ava,” you say, looking around for something to start the game out with. “I would say, “I spy with my little eye something green. Then you, Mr. Styles, Matthew, and Jade, would have to look around and name out everything that’s green. If you name something and it’s not it, then I will tell you nope, and you can try again, but if you figure it out, then you’re the winner! Does that make sense?”
She nods, and you see a gleam of excitement in her eyes. “Can I go first?” She asks quietly. You tell her, yes, and she looks around quickly, trying to find something to say. “I spy with my little eye something blue!” She has a triumphant smile on her face, and even though you immediately know she’s talking about the sky and you’re sure Harry does too, you both decide to take a step back and let the children take the game into their own hands.
“Y’know, that lil’ introduction Jade gave was really somethin’. I didn’t even think about teachin’ my kids that. Think I’ll try that out tomorrow,” Harry whispers, craning his neck slightly to be at your ear. You shiver at the feeling of his warm breath against your skin.
“Yeah, I feel like that’s always a good first day of school activity for them to do. A lot of them have never really been exposed to people outside of their immediate family, so they’re not too sure how to talk to others.” Harry hums, standing back up straight.
“Mr. Styles,” Matthew calls, running over to Harry. “My mommy is here. Can I go now?” Harry nods, telling Matthew to wait for him so he can say hi to his mother. You watch as he walks away, overhearing as he tells the boy’s mother what a great job he did today and how he’s so excited to go through this school year with him in his class. Ten minutes later, Jade and Ava are gone as well, and Harry locks the dismissal gate.
“I forgot how exhausting the first day could be,” he tells you, letting out a quiet sigh. “Ready to go to that meeting, though? It’s just about three.” You check your watch and see the time read at 2:57 PM.
“Yeah, just let me grab my bag, and we can head over there. I’m really hoping this won’t take too long; I was planning on going grocery shopping after this,” you walk down the hall towards your classroom and feel Harry’s gaze on you.
“Where do you like to go grocery shopping?” he asks after a few moments of silence. “I need to pick up some groceries this week, too. ’ve been eatin’ takeout for the past week, and I’m starting to feel like shit.” You laugh, unlocking your door. Harry stands outside, holding it open while you grab your purse and lunch bag.
“Honestly, I don’t have a preference. I switch it up a lot,” you shrug, making sure all the windows are closed before walking out. “Was there something, in particular, you were looking for?”
“Uh,” Harry scratches the back of his head. “No? Maybe you could text me a list of all your favorite stores, though. Jus’ so I won’t forget.”
You quirk an eyebrow at him, ignoring how fast your heart was beating. “Are you asking for my number, Mr. Styles?”
“I guess I am,” he replies nonchalantly. “We’re gonna be workin’ together a lot. Might as well have your number– if that’s okay, I mean.” He looks down at you.
“Yeah, remind me after the meeting,” you tell him, trying your hardest to play it cool. “Don’t let me forget.”
“Trust me, I won’t.”

“So Y/N and Harry, you two will be in charge of the pumpkin decorating booth? Is that right?” The principal looks down at his notes and then shifts his gaze between the both of you. You both nod.
“Yeah, I’m excited! I think it’ll be a lot of fun,” you reply excitedly. “We can go to the craft store and get a bunch of paints, but where do you think the best place to get the pumpkins would be?” You pull out your planner, ready to jot down any suggestions.
“You two could try going to a pumpkin patch? They’re starting to pop-up around town,” one teacher suggests. “I’m sure if you purchased a bunch and told them it was for a school event, we could get some kind of deal.” The rest of the faculty buzzes in agreement.
“Y/N and Harry, could you get to a pumpkin patch sometimes this week and see if they can give us an estimate of how much it would cost? Then I could let the PTA know.” You and Harry confirm that it will be possible to do sometime this week, and the meeting continues on.
By the time you’re finally free to leave the meeting, it’s already growing dark outside. Harry’s hands are shoved in his pockets, and he’s looking down at his feet. “So–”
“Do you want–”
You both stop, laughing awkwardly. “You go first.” you tighten the grip on your purse.
“Uh, I was jus’ gonna ask if I could get your number now. Yanno, so we can plan when we’re gonna go get all the stuff for our booth? And you still gotta tell me what your favorite grocery stores are,” he has a playful look in his eyes. For the thousandth time that day, your hands become clammy. There was just something about every interaction you had with him that made you so nervous.
“Oh yeah,” you answer coolly, digging in your purse for your phone. “Just text your number, so I have it.” You hand him his phone, and he stops dead in his tracks, a look of concentration on his face.
“I can’t walk and be on the phone at the same time,” he mutters when he looks back up and realizes you were watching him the whole time. “I don’t know how people do it.” He hands you back your phone. “What were y’ gonna ask me?”
“I was just um, I was gonna ask if you wanted me to give you a ride home? I mean, since you walked to work today and it’ll be dark soon,” talking to Harry made you feel like a nervous school girl interacting with her first crush, and you hated that feeling.
“I couldn’t ask you to do that–”
“It’s no bother, really,” you cut him off, and you realize you sound a little eager, but at that point, you didn’t even care. “I’m sure we don’t live too far from each other.” Harry looks slightly unsure but nods, and you let out a breath you didn’t even know you were holding.
“If you’re sure, Y/N. I appreciate it, I owe you one,” he’s following behind you to the teacher parking lot. You silently pray your car isn’t messy inside like it usually is as you approach it. You decide to pick up your pace and walk ahead of him, telling yourself if the passenger side was messy, you’d just quickly throw everything in the back. “Heyyyy, why’re you walkin’ so fast? Are you sure you’ve got the time to take me home?” He takes a few big strides and quickly catches up with your hurried, tiny ones.
“Yeah, of course, I have time,” you respond, unlocking your car as you approach it. “If it’s messy, then just ignore it.” you preface, honestly not remembering the state in which you left your car this morning when you walked into work.
“Don’t worry about it. You should see mine,” Harry jokes, and it immediately puts you at ease. As you’re about to open your door, Harry quickly rushes to your side, opening it himself. “Let me.”
His hand rests over yours, and you quickly pull it away, your body heating up. “Harry, I’m already right here. I can open my own car door.”
“I know you can. But I’m a gentle—“
“You’re a gentleman, I know,” you playfully roll your eyes and take a step back, allowing Harry to open your car door all the way. You couldn’t lie and say you weren’t flattered and honestly a little bit turned on. He flashes you a smile as you situate yourself behind the wheel of the car and makes sure you’re all the way in before slamming it shut. You see him lightly jog around to the passenger side, and soon enough, he’s beside you, your car immediately starting to smell like his cologne.
“What music do you like to listen to?” Harry asks, pulling his phone out of his pocket.
“You ask me a lot of random questions, Harry,” you reply, looking behind you as you slowly back out.
“Is it a crime to wanna get to know my new coworker?” you can hear a smile in his voice. “C’mon. What’s your favorite music to listen to?”
You shrug, looking both ways before exiting the parking lot. “Where do you live?”
“I don’t know my address yet. Just take a left at this light coming up. Favorite music?” Out of the corner of his eye, you see him scrolling through his music library.
“You don’t know your address yet?”
“No. I’ll play something random,” he says, tapping his hand on his knee. “You can take a right at that stop sign up there.” You put on your blinker and glance over your shoulder before switching lanes. Harry quickly pairs his phone with your Bluetooth, and a song you’re unfamiliar with blares through your speakers. Neither one of you says anything else, only speaking to each other when he’s giving you directions to his house, and you’re confirming what he said.
After two more songs, Harry says, “S’right up here.” He’s led you to a beautiful apartment complex— one you were looking at when you were moving out of your parent’s home but just couldn’t afford as a new graduate. You expertly parallel park and then turn the car off, a silence falling between the two of you.
“This is a nice complex,” you tell him after a moment. “Really close to school. I see why you opted to walk to work today.”
“Mhm,” he hums. His seatbelt is still fastened. “I understand if you’re busy, but did you wanna come in?” You raise an eyebrow at him, and he quickly backtracks. “I mean— it’s just— remember the activity you taught your kids today? About introductions? Jus’ wanted to know if you could walk me through it, that’s all.”
“Oh. Well yeah, I can hang out for a bit.” You unbuckle your seatbelt and reach in the backseat for your purse that you threw haphazardly over your shoulder earlier.
“Will your boyfriend be okay with you coming in, though?” He’s chewing on the inside of his cheek.
“What makes you think I have a boyfriend?” You’re slightly taken aback and oddly flattered that he thought you were in a relationship.
“I dunno,” his face grows red. “You got all weird when I opened doors for ya. Figured you had a boyfriend.”
“I don’t.”
“Cool.” More silence falls, this time an awkward one.
“Should we go inside now?” you unlock the doors, quickly getting out of the car. Harry follows behind you and waits for you to walk onto the sidewalk before going up the walkway.
“How close do you live to me?” Harry asks, punching in his gate code. He pulls the gate open and gestures for you to go ahead of him. You decide not to comment on it this time.
“A couple blocks away. I could probably walk over here if I was in the mood to,” Harry shuts the gate behind you and walks over to the first set of stairs, taking them two at a time. “I was interested in this complex when I was moving out of my parents’ but I settled on something else.” He hums, stopping in front of the first door at the top of the stairs. There’s a brown ‘Welcome!’ mat outside his door, along with a few potted plants.
“Here we are,” he looks over his shoulder as if he’s checking if you’re still there. “Excuse the boxes. ‘M not done unpacking yet.” He pushes open the door and steps in, quickly turning on the light. You’re met with the same sweet scent of vanilla that’s in his classroom. Considering he was in the process of unpacking, his apartment was reasonably tidy.
“It looks good in here,” your heart felt like it was going to beat out of your chest. You were in your coworker’s house that you just met that day, and you could already feel yourself developing a crush on him. There was obviously no way you’d let this relationship progress past anything strictly professional, but that didn’t mean you weren’t allowed to admire his beauty.
“Thanks,” he gives you a smile, relief washing over his face. “You can set your bag down if you want. Take a seat, make yourself at home.” He leaves the room, and you hear him rattling around in the kitchen. “Can I get you anything to drink? Wine? Coffee? Tea?”
“Coffee sounds great,” you reply. You set your purse down on his coffee table and sit on the edge of his couch, inspecting his living room closer. There were two books on the table, both flipped upside down as a way to mark his page. There were a few more plants inside, similar to the ones in front of his door. There was a framed picture of him with two beautiful women you assumed to be his mother and sister. Harry comes back into the room a few minutes later, two steaming cups of black coffee in hand.
“Here you are, Miss Y/L/N,” he puts on an exaggerated posh accent, and you giggle.
“Why thank you, Mr. Styles,” you respond in the same voice. “Do you have cream and sugar?”
He wrinkles his nose. “I think I might have sugar. Is oat milk, okay? I don’t have cream.” He goes back to his kitchen to retrieve the items before you can tell him it’s okay, and you’ll just drink it black. You thank him, pouring the tiniest splash of oat milk into your coffee. You can feel his eyes on you as you add a bit of sugar, stir, taste, and then add some more.
“So,” you begin after your coffee is made to your liking. “What did you think about your first day? You can be honest since we’re not on campus anymore.” Harry laughs, looking down at his fingernails.
“Uh,” he starts. You notice he says, ‘uh’ a lot. “It was terrific. Not so sure I would’ve felt the same way if I didn’t have you to help me through it.”
“We’re partners in crime now, Harry. We’re the two Kindergarten teachers, and you’re the only other person there my age? We’ve definitely gotta stick together,” you give him a big smile. He doesn’t smile back but looks a bit troubled instead. You wait for him to speak, coming to accept that long pauses were just a thing when having a conversation with Harry.
“Y’know how I assumed you had a boyfriend earlier? I thought after I’d said that–– rather I hoped after I said that you’d be like,” he clears his throat. “‘Why, no! I don’t have a boyfriend. Do you have a girlfriend?’” He put on the worst American accent you’d ever heard to imitate your voice, causing you to laugh. “To which I would’ve replied with a simple ‘no.’”
Now it’s your turn to leave Harry wondering what you’re thinking for the first time all day. You can feel his eyes on you as you look at his couch cushions, noticing a bit of crumbs that you hadn’t seen before. “Are you flirting with me?”
“I think you’re beautiful.”
“You don’t even know me. We just met today.”
“Does that mean I can’t think you’re beautiful?”
You bite your lip, feeling yourself starting to grow a bit turned on by his forwardness. There was a part of you that would risk it all for just one night in bed with Harry because you just found him that attractive. The rational, adult side of you was screaming, ‘Don’t mix business with pleasure!’. By now, you had both moved closer on the couch to one another, knees nearly touching. “I think you’re beautiful, too.” He grins, setting his coffee cup down. You do the same.
“Would it be crazy of me to tell you that I really wanna kiss you right now?” His face is mere inches from yours, so close that you could smell the coffee on his breath. You shake your head.
“No. I really wanna kiss you too.”
“C’ mere, then.”
Harry leans forward a bit more until his lips are ghosting over yours. You pull at the collar of his shirt, bringing his already close body even closer to yours. His lips are softer than they look, and he’s a better kisser than you thought he’d be, too. He brings his hands up to tangle them in your hair, and that’s when you abruptly pull away, not wanting things to go too far. “We shouldn’t…” He looks at you with sad eyes, but he nods, understanding what you mean.
“Probably not the best idea?” his response comes out as more of a question than a statement, but you nod in agreement anyway.
“Definitely not. I’m um–– I’m actually gonna go,” you stand up, slinging your purse over your shoulder. “Thanks for the coffee, Harry. I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“Yeah, see––”
You’re out the door, rushing down the stairs before he can even finish his sentence.

The rest of the school week goes on without either one of you mentioning it. It’s a little awkward for a couple of days, but by the time Friday rolls around, both of you decide the best course of action to take regarding the kiss would be to act like it never happened.
You’re in your room at lunch hanging up your kids’ artwork they made during their ‘Free Time’ this morning, having declined Harry’s lunch invitation for the fourth time that week. You decided to pretend to be busy with work so you wouldn’t be too tempted to go into his room. To most people, you’re sure it looked like you were avoiding him–– and maybe you were. However, you were trying to get over this crush on him in the best way that you knew how.
“Need some help?”
You jump, nearly falling backward off the stepstool you were on. “Holy shit, Harry! You scared the hell out of me!” You feel your body getting warm, and you quickly look away, not wanting him to see how flustered you were.
“Sorry, you weren’t answering my texts, so I decided to come see what you were up to,” he walks over to where you were standing and hands you a piece of art, smiling at it before handing it to you. “You’ve got some artists in your class.”
“Mhm,” you hum, not looking him in the eyes. You hear him let out a quiet sigh.
“Still able to go see about getting those pumpkins ordered after work?”
You had completely forgotten that you and Harry decided today would be the day you’d go get the pumpkin situated figured out for your booth. For a second, you consider making an excuse to get out of it, but you decide against it. This was something that both of you were asked to do, not just him, and you didn’t want the fact that you let your attraction to him cloud your judgment getting in the way of your professional responsibilities.
“Yeah, that works.”
He doesn’t say anything, and even though you’re not looking at him, you can see the gears in his head turning. “Should we talk––”
You’re quite literally saved by the bell, the end of lunch interrupting where you knew he was about to lead the conversation. “I’ll see you after school? Did you walk here again? I can drive.” Harry nods slowly.
“Uh, yeah. he replies. “I walked. Uh, ’m gonna go get my kids. See you after school then?”
“Yup!” you respond, fake enthusiasm in your voice. Harry gives you one more look before walking out of your room. You wait until he’s all the way down the hall before following behind him to bring your class back inside. You knew you were the one making things awkward between you and Harry. However, the realistic part of you knew getting involved with your coworker was one of the worst ideas you’d ever had in your life. For now, you’d just tell yourself that you were probably more into Harry than he was into you and pray that would be enough to make you get over your crush.
Tumblr media
“I haven’t been to a pumpkin patch since I was a kid.” Harry stuffs his hands farther into his pockets while yours are tightly hugging your chest. You hum, not saying anything. The car ride there was a little awkward, and you were glad it was so short. You could tell there was a lot Harry wanted to say, but you were glad he wasn’t saying it. You keep seeing him glance at you, but you pretend not to notice.
“What size pumpkins should we ask for? Small ones, huh?” Harry nods, looking around in childlike awe. There was a small petting zoo, booths selling warm drinks and kettle corn, and an obscene amount of children.
You walk around together for a moment before encountering a friendly-looking employee who looked like he could help you out. Harry takes over, explaining the situation, and why you need to order one hundred tiny pumpkins. While you’re waiting for the employee to ask the owner if that would even be possible, Harry turns to face you.
“Y/N? Can we talk about what happened on Monday?” you’re about to tell him that you’d rather not, but he continues. “I felt something during that kiss, Y/N. I’m not sure if you felt it too, but I don’t want things to be awkward between us. We have to get through an entire school year working side-by-side, and if you’re not interested, then I respect that one hundred percent, but I just want––”
“So the owner said that is possible!” The employee that was helping you out comes back with a form and clipboard in their hand. “Can you just fill out some information and let us know what time you need it tomorrow? The owner said he could get it delivered and give you guys a discount since you’re ordering so much.”
“That’s great!” you exclaim, taking the form from him. You were glad to have been saved from your conversation with Harry. You quickly go through and fill out everything you can, telling them they can bill your school’s PTA.
The walk back to your car is silent. You’re replaying what Harry was saying to you over in your head, thinking about what he was going to say before he was interrupted. He opens your car door like he’s been doing, but he doesn’t make eye contact with you or say a word as he slides into the passenger seat.
“Y’can just drop me off,” Harry says quietly. He leans your seat back and closes his eyes. You wait to see if he’ll connect his phone, but he doesn’t, so you turn on the radio at a volume so low it almost can’t be heard. It takes everything in you not to speed back to his place. You just wanted him out of your car. You had such strong feelings for him that it physically hurt, and restraining yourself from telling him how you really felt was growing harder and harder.
“We’re here.” your voice is a little hoarse from not saying anything. Harry slowly opens his eyes and unbuckles his seatbelt, opening the door.
“Right. Thanks for the ride. What time do we need to be at school to set up our booth by?”
“Four. I can pick you up if you want?”
“Yeah. See you tomorrow, Y/N.” He closes the door and walks up to his gate without looking back at you once.
Tumblr media
“Hi Miss Y/L/N! Hi Mr. Styles!”
Groups of your students had been coming up to you excitedly all evening. It made you happy to see that the Kindergarten classes were no longer divided. They were starting to hang out with one another. Their parents tell you how their children thought it was just the coolest thing to be on school grounds on a Saturday, and how even though it was only a week into the school year, they were having the best time. It was comments like this that made you fall in love with your job all over again.
Things between you and Harry were going well. It wasn’t awkward, but you think it was because you were both too busy helping children paint their pumpkins. You were glad that Harry didn’t take the bit of downtime the two of you had when no one was at your booth trying to talk about the kiss and instead talked about other random things instead. You find out he loves baking (specifically, bread), he has an obsession with old music, and has about fifty tattoos. He talks to his mom on the phone every day, and he is extremely close to his sister. You tell him about your parents’, your undergraduate experience, your hobbies, and you finally tell him what music you like to listen to.
The festival quickly comes to an end, and you find yourself sad once you and Harry are done cleaning up your booth, knowing that you were just going to drop him off at his apartment and go back to yours to spend another Saturday night alone. You get to his complex almost too quickly, and you almost want to keep going and pretend you accidentally missed it just to be with him a bit longer. Instead, you park.
“D’ya wanna come inside?” He blurts out. Even in the darkness of your car, you can tell his face is flushed. “I mean if you haven’t got plans. I know it’s a Saturday night, so I understand if––”
“Nope, I don’t have plans. I’d love to.” Your hands are shaky as you unbuckle your seatbelt. He quickly gets out of your car and runs around to your side, opening the door for you before you can do it yourself. You almost don’t even notice since it was becoming such a habit.
“I picked up this new bottle of wine a couple days ago that’ve been wanting to pop open. Think we deserve a glass or two after such a long week, hmm?” You wordlessly nod, wholly mesmerized with just how good Harry looked after such a long day of work. His curls fell perfectly across his forehead, his eyes were sparkling and full of excitement.
“A glass of wine sounds great,” you reply with a chuckle. “I’m ready to drink a whole bottle by the end of the week if I’m being honest.” Harry laughs, quickly punching in his gate code. You could see his hands shaking a little bit, but you decide not to comment on it. He takes the stairs up to his apartment two at a time like he did last time you were there, but this time there’s an urgency and clumsiness to his actions that you haven’t seen before. He jams the key in his lock, quickly shoving the door open.
His apartment is a little messier than it was when you were in it at the beginning of the week, but it’s nothing disgusting. He runs his fingers through his curls, moving aside papers that were scattered along the length of the couch. “Sorry, I was doin’ some planning. Make yourself comfortable.” He disappears to the kitchen, and moments later, you hear the pop of a wine cork and the smooth sound of him pouring the alcohol into glasses.
He emerges from his kitchen, handing you a generously poured glass of wine. “Thanks, Harry,” you tell him before taking a big sip. It was sweet, and while you usually preferred a more dry wine, it was still delicious.
“Cheers to the end of a successful first week,” he holds up his glass, and you smile, clinking yours with his. “Thanks for helpin’ me get through it, Y/N. Couldn’t have done it without you.” You give him a timid smile.
“Stop, Harry. You’re a great teacher. I can see your kids love you already,” you take another sip of wine. “I kinda do too. I mean–– that came out wrong. I don’t love you, but I do think I like you.” You didn’t know what came over you at that moment, but something told you now was the time to lay it all out on the table with Harry. He sets his glass of wine down, the biggest smile on his face.
“Really? I thought you weren’t interested. Was kinda startin’ to feel like you hate me,” he sounds a little sad. You shake your head.
“Quite the opposite, actually. I’m really into you,” you didn’t even realize how you’d inched your way towards Harry. “I’ve been trying not to think about how we kissed because we shouldn’t, you know? We’re coworkers. I’ve been trying not to think about it all week, though, and I just can’t get you out of my mind.” He stares intensely into your eyes, chewing on the inside of his cheek like he usually does when he’s thinking.
“Can I kiss you, Y/N?” he finally asks. You’re in the same position as you were last time, being mere inches away from the other’s lips. Only this time, you smell the wine on his breath, not coffee. You nod quickly, and Harry cups your face in his hands, hungrily pressing his lips against yours.
“You can do more than kiss me, actually,” you tell him breathlessly. “You can do whatever you want with me.”
Harry raises an eyebrow, a shocked look on his face. “When you say anything…” he trails off.
“I want you to fuck me, Harry,” you tell him bluntly. “Please. Been wanting that all week.” He licks his lips, looking at you in a way he hasn’t yet before.
“I can definitely do that,” he replies, resting his hand on your thigh. His large hand is dangerously close to your pussy, and you can already feel yourself growing wet. “Let’s get all these clothes off you then, huh?”
You stand up and quickly start removing your clothes. First, your blouse comes off, and that’s quickly followed by your bra. Harry’s leaning back on the couch, arms resting behind his head. “Enjoying the show?” you ask, quickly pulling down your jeans and underwear. You’re completely naked in front of him in thirty seconds flat, and you reckon that’s the fastest you’ve ever undressed for anything.
“Very much so,” he mumbles, palming himself over his khakis. “C’ mere, Y/N.” he pats his lap, and you move to sit in it, now straddling him. He softly presses his lips against yours, the hunger that was there just a moment ago completely dissipated. This was a much more hesitant kiss, more gentle and tender. “You’re really beautiful, Y/N.”
You giggle. “I know. You’ve told me that before.”
“I want you to know how much I mean it.”
“I know you do.”
Harry nods. “Can I have a taste of ya now?” you notice that his accent sounds a bit thicker than usual, voice a tad gruffer. You nod, swallowing thickly. Climbing off Harry, you lay back on the couch, situating yourself, so it’s a little more comfortable. He looks into your eyes, placing his hands on your knees. “Is this okay, Y/N?” You nod again, and he removes his hands.
“What’s wrong?” your voice has a hint of desperation in it, but after a week of extreme sexual tension, you wanted nothing more than to cum by the hands of this man.
“Wanna hear you tell me it’s okay. I don’t wanna do anything you don’t want,” he’s looking down at his hands.
“Harry, I wouldn’t have given you a striptease and laid back on this couch for you if I didn’t want it. I wholeheartedly give you permission to do whatever you want with me––”
That’s enough for him. He roughly pries your legs open, immediately licking a long stripe up your heat. You cry out, not expecting him to get right into it. You look down at him and groan when you see he’s making eye contact with you, a smug look on his face. “How’s tha’, love?” You nod, tangling your hands in his curls.
“Yeah Harry, please,” you moan. Harry sucks harshly at your clit, pulling off loudly, the sound echoing throughout his minimally furnished apartment.
“Please what, pet?” He’s looking you dead in the eyes, a devilish grin on his face while his index finger rubs small circles on your clit. Your chest is heaving up and down quickly as you try to calm your breathing down.
“Please make me cum on your tongue, Harry,” you try pushing his head back down to your cunt, but he doesn’t budge.
“Think I rather like hearin’ you beg like this fo’ me. Enjoyin’ watching you squirm like tha’, love.” Just as your about to beg for him some more to feed his inflated ego, he attaches his lips to your clit once more, this time adding his ring finger into your tight pussy. “You’re tight. Sure you’ll be able to take my cock?” His voice is muffled, and you just barely make out what he says.
You clench around his finger, and he laughs, the vibrations sending a new sensation across your clit. “Y’like thinkin’ about my cock, hmm?”
“Yeah, want you in me,” you beg, lifting your hips up. He grips onto your hips tightly, keeping you in place.
“Can feel yeh gettin’ ready for me, darlin’. Think you can take another one?” You nod, and Harry gently places kitten licks on your swollen clit while he slowly pushes his middle finger into you. You feel full in a way you haven’t felt in such a long time, and he only had two fingers in you. Once he pumps his fingers in and out of you a few times, he goes back to harshly sucking on his clit, moaning every so often so you can feel the vibrations against your cunt.
“Fuck,” you’re moaning loudly, and you pray Harry’s neighbors don’t hear you, knowing how thin apartment walls were.
“So fuckin’ wet for me, doll,” he mutters, adding another finger inside you. The burn feels amazing, and you place your hand on his wrist, urging him to go faster. “Gonna cum in my mouth, hmm? Gonna let me feel ya around m’ fingers?”
“Yes, please, Harry,” you feel yourself nearly there, your orgasm threatening to overtake you at any moment.
“Give it to me then, Y/N. Cum for me,” he demands. As soon as he says those three words, you’re done for, your body going tense as waves of pleasure roll throughout your body. He doesn’t remove his digits from the your cunt until you’re coming down from your high, placing a kiss to your clit. He laughs as you shudder at the overstimulation. Harry places his three fingers that were just inside of you and his mouth and sucks on them, not once breaking eye contact with you.
“That was really good,” you tell him, crawling on your knees towards him to place a kiss on the underside of his jaw—Harry’s beaming, a triumphant look on his face.
“Not yet. Gotta make y’ cum one more time. I’m a gentleman, after all.” You know he’s messing with you but also serious, so you lean back on the couch, opening your legs once again.
“Are you gonna take off your clothes too? Why am I the only one that’s naked?” Harry laughs, and you hear the clanking of his belt as he undoes it.
“You’re impatient, aren’t ya?” you nod, and he pulls down his tenting khakis and tight boxers. His cock springs up, slightly touching his stomach, and he hisses at the feeling. “Hold on a sec.” He gets up quickly, and you hear him hurry to what you assume in the bathroom, rummaging around. He comes back a minute later with a box of condoms, making you laugh.
“Is that a new box of condoms? Have you been holding onto those all week, Mr. Styles?” Harry rolls his eyes and opens the box, ripping open a condom expertly with his teeth.
“Weren’t you just the one beggin’ for me, pet? I’d watch it if I were you,” he jokes, rolling the condom onto his hard length. He leans down to place wet, opened mouth kisses to your breasts. “So beautiful.”
“Are you gonna take off your shirt?” you ask quietly. “I kinda wanna see all your tattoos.” Harry raises an eyebrow at you but unbuttons his shirt nevertheless, throwing it into the mess of clothes scattered around the living room. You reach your hand up, shakily tracing the swallows on his chest, moving down to the butterfly across his stomach and finally to the ferns on his abdomen. Harry’s staring down at you, watching as you delicately touch his skin. “You have so many.” you finally say. He nods.
“Yeah. Some of them I just got for the hell of it. Felt like after I got that first tattoo, it was hard to stop.” He caresses the skin on your thighs, and you shudder again. “Gonna let me get inside that pretty lil’ cunt now?”
“Please.”
Harry aligns himself with your entrance and slowly pushes into you, sharply inhaling as you clench around his length. “Relax, Y/N.’ve got ya,” he tells you reassuringly. “Can’t get inside ya if you’re all tense like tha’.” You can tell Harry’s trying his hardest not to absolutely wreck you, the vein in his forehead very prominent from clenching his jaw so tightly. You grip tightly onto his bicep, biting your lip as you adjust to his size. You were so wet and indescribably turned on that you felt every vein his thick cock had to offer, and you knew you wouldn’t last long once he started moving. By the looks of it, Harry wouldn’t either.
“You can move,” you tell him, squeezing your eyes shut. Harry slowly pulls out of you and then ever so gently sinks back inside you, bottoming out. He lets out a breathy moan, moving one of his hands up to tweak your nipples. “Harder, Harry, fuck.”
He immediately pulls out of you and slams back inside, the sounds of his balls slapping against your ass echoing in the room. You scream in pleasure, no longer caring if his neighbors hear what you two were doing.
“Like tha’?” He asks cheekily, working up a steady rhythm. You nod, gripping your boobs to keep them from bouncing. Harry shakes his head, forcefully removing your hands. “Nope, none of that. Wanna see ’em.” He takes both of your hands in one of his, pinning them up over your head. His other hand reaches in between your bodies to rub at your clit, and before you have time to warn him, you’re cumming again, squirting all over his cock.
Harry throws his head back in pleasure, his thrusts getting sloppy and frantic, and you know he’s seconds away from his own orgasm. You spur him on, telling him how badly you wanted him to come inside of you (even though he was wearing a condom). He stills moments later, shaking above you as he holds himself up with an arm, not wanting to collapse on top of you.
“Fuckin’ hell, Y/N. Why did we wait a whole week to do this again?”

August 15th.
Summer mornings always felt particularly comforting. However, the mornings spent on a beach vacation felt especially wonderful. Heading out onto the balcony, you smiled contently, taking a sip of the coffee you had just brewed. George, your husband, was inside still asleep. The night before had been quite tiring as you’d spent all day on the beach before returning to your hotel to play board games and drink. It was the annual vacation you, your husband, and his brother took. It provided days worth of laughter and a much longed for break from the daily grind of work. Occasionally, Fred would bring a lady friend along, but not this year.
You worked for the Ministry of Magic, using your academic skills to contribute toward the greater good of Wizarding society. Meanwhile, your doting husband and his brother worked tirelessly in their joke shop. They actually fared quiet well, despite never completing their classes at Hogwarts. George was able to spoil you to absolute bits. Your wedding had been charming, complete with a send off of blue butterflies before you entered the reception. Everything about your marriage to George was a fairytale.
You watched the waves lapping against the shore. The smell of sea salt and wet sand tickled your nostrils. You pulled your tan cardigan closer around your torso, noting that it was still chilly in the morning, despite it being August. The silence gave you time to reflect on the beauty of the past two years. It felt as though barely any time had passed since you kissed George at the altar, vowing your forever to him. You had developed a calm and comforting rhythm to your life together. It consisted of cozy mornings with your cold feet touching beneath blankets. Your nights would end with dinner together and then finding some sort of movie to watch. You never felt thrilled anymore, but in a way, that’s what you had always dreamed of.
Settling down comfortably in the deck chair, you opened up the novel you’d been reading. Just then, the deck door slid open and your husband walked out. His red hair was messy from sleep and his voice was still raspy, not yet fully adjusted to the morning. He bent to kiss you softly on the head.
“Morning, Mrs. Weasley,” he smiled, moving to lean against the balcony railing. He crossed his legs and took a sip from his coffee mug. His nickname for you always made you smile. You adored it, because you were still head over heels about the idea of being his wife. George was safe and strong. He loved you in the ways other men had failed to. His adoration was clear through bouquets of flowers that would show up on your work desk, lavish birthday presents, and the sweet nothings he whispered to you in bed. George was never pushy. He never spoke out of turn. In fact, you couldn’t even recall a time he had raised his voice at you. George was - as a husband - predictable.
“Mr. Weasley,” you chirped back, turning to the next page of your book. You two sat in silence for a while. George watched the waves crash into the shore, thinking to himself that this was bliss. Even if he wasn’t at the beach, he reasoned, it would be paradise because he was with you.
The sliding glass door opened again and Fred appeared. “Mornin!,” he announced, stretching.
Fred was quite the opposite of George in a number of ways. You knew of Fred’s romantic escapades, which often ended in him bedding girls in his flat. He sometimes had a short temper and still lived on the high of getting into bits of trouble - even as a grown man. His spirit was more untamed. Where George craved peace, Fred strived for adventure. You would be lying if you hadn’t sometimes thought about what Fred would be like as a lover. But then the guilt would hit you. He was your brother-in-law, for Merlin’s sake.
“How do you have this much energy in the morning?,” George chuckled, watching as Fred sat down in the other armchair.
“I just like the beach,” he shrugged, looking over at you. Placing your book onto your lap, you glanced over at Fred. His brown eyes twinkled back at you affectionately. You and Fred had always been close, even before you started dating George. It was Fred that you had befriended first at Hogwarts. But of course, where one Weasley was, there was the other. Fred was thrilled when you began to date George. He thought you were - as he put it - ‘a total fucking catch, George’. Fred had even helped George pick out your engagement ring. He was over the moon to have you as a permanent part of his life - for you to finally and officially be a Weasley.
You looked out at the beach, eager to get some sun and finish your book.
“Then, let’s go.”
_______________________________
George had made the choice to stay at the beach house, wanting to hit the golf course. He had begged Fred to join him, but his twin was craving some time in the sun and surf, so he declined. George grumbled a bit as he packed up his golf bag. He tried until the very last minute to get Fred to come play at least a round but it was to no avail.
You were lying on your back, trying your hardest to catch some color. The normally dreary days at home wouldn’t provide the tan you wanted. Fred was walking back up to your umbrella. He had gone down into the water for a while. You realized then that you probably should reapply your sunscreen, but couldn’t reach yourself.
“Hey, Freddie, can you get my back?” You had thought nothing of it. Fred had obliged, picking up the tiny bottle next to you.
Fred knelt down in the sand, sitting back onto his heels to keep from tipping other. He squirted a bit of the sunscreen into his palm, rubbing it together quickly to warm it up. You had to press your tongue to the roof of your mouth to keep from gasping as you felt his calloused hands hit your bare back. He was being painfully slow, moving to massage the sunblock into your shoulders. The man’s concentration seemed to have drifted from assuring you didn’t get burnt to making you feel good. Fred kneaded a bit and that time you couldn’t resist, letting a tiny gasp escape your lips. It was painfully obvious that you had been wound up tight due to work and it felt incredible to feel your muscles loosen up.
Fred’s fingers danced beneath the strap of your bathing suit and you felt your heart rate quicken. He took a moment to run his finger across the thin, damp strap. You swore you heard his breath stop for a moment. You shook it off, assuring yourself it was you who was making this into something it wasn’t. Just then, he slid his hands down to the center of your spine before getting dangerously close to the elastic of your bikini bottoms. Neither of you were speaking, and for some reason, you felt a familiar feeling between your thighs. Shit, shit, shit, you thought. Thankfully your head was laying in your arms, face down, or else Fred would no doubt see you blushing.
“Okay that’s good, Fred, thanks,” you said quickly, moving so his hands were no longer on you. You couldn’t tell if the sun had reached its brightest point or if you were sweating because of your brother-in-law. But either way, you rolled back over to stand up, leaving Fred confused as you headed out toward the water to distract yourself.
•·················•·················•  •·················•·················•
October 31st.
George was standing up front at the cash register of Weasley Wizard Wheezes, counting the nightly deposit. Halloween was always a particularly busy day as both old and young wizards alike grabbed their last minute bits of mischief.
You were sitting in the back room, giving Fred your opinion on his Halloween costume.  Each year, the Weasley twins put on the best Halloween party, complete with costumes, outlandish decorations, and overflowing fire whiskey and butterbeer. Getting an invite to the Weasley Halloween Bash was something highly sought after. Therefore, the twins always made sure their costumes were up to snuff. Fred was close to you, showing off his ensemble for that night. A black velvet cape was draped over his shoulders, complete with a white button up shirt and black pants.
“What is it you’re supposed to be?” You cackled, adjusting the middle button on his shirt, which he had overlooked. Fred swallowed hard as your hands touched his abdomen. You noticed how as you laughed, your eyes locked on one another. You diverted your eyes quickly, cursing the butterflies that were some reason threatening to burst in your belly. The redhead stepped back a little, doing a little twirl so that his cape swooshed.
“A vampire!,” he sounded exasperated, using his hands to gesture to himself. You cocked your head to the side, figuring he just didn’t have the makeup or fangs on yet. It was decided in your mind that once that was all done, the costume would look much better.
“It looks great, Freddie,” you finally conceded and he grinned.
“I’m going to vuck your vlood,” Fred joked, wiggling his fingers as he leapt closer to you. You shrieked, jumping back as he attempted to begin tickling you. Once you had both stopped giggling, Fred began to speak again.
“What are you and George going as?”
“Pirates,” you said excitedly, clapping your hands together. Fred rolled his eyes.
“I know you picked that out.” “I always pick. George is horrible at decision making, and if I’m being honest, his ideas are sometimes quite stupid.”
The bells on the back door jingled as George entered. “Oy, we getter get going if we want to set up for tonight,” he said to you, coming over to wrap his arms around your waist. A smile graced your lips as he planted a loving kiss on your cheek. He smelled like warm cinnamon - the perfect addition to fall.
_______________________
You descended down the stairs, your heels clicking with each step. Fred was at the bottom of the stairs, busying himself with filling a tray up with some sort of side dish. He heard you coming and turned, his jaw going slack.
You were wearing black fishnets complete with thigh high leather boots. Your dress was candy apple red with a tight black corset. It left little to the imagination as it showed off the perfect teasing amount of cleavage and sat just below your bum. The look was complete by a black pirate’s hat and flawless makeup, which you were certain to spend at least an hour on. You had taken the time to curl your h/c hair as well, which lay perfectly on your shoulders.
“Aye, aye, captain,” George gawked, coming around the corner. His costume was a little less detailed, but none the less fitting to match yours. You giggled as he swept you up in his arms, giving you a few kisses on your face. “Please make me walk to plank tonight,” he whispered in your ear, giving your lobe a little nibble. You giggled, pushing him off a bit. “Now, now, sailor. We have company,” you gestured to Fred, who appeared to be blushing redder than your dress. You ignored it, pushing back any thoughts that began to stir in your mind. You had hoped, somewhere deep down inside of you, that Fred was just as taken by your look as George was.
Fred had doctored up his costume quite a bit, adding eyeliner smudged around his eyes, a bit of face powder, and some fake blood below his lip. He had gelled his hair to look more Victorian, too, which gave the perfect finishing touch. “You look awesome, Fred,” you remarked, giving him a pat on this shoulder. You began to help finish the snack table. The tension could be cut with a knife, you noted. There was something different between you and Fred ever since the beach. A lust hung in the air whenever you two were in close proximity. It was enough to strangle you, and the worst part was, you were convinced it was all in your head. It was bloody wrong, too, you had told yourself.
_________________________
The night went off without a hitch. Ron and Hermione had shown up, dressed adorably as a cop and a robber. Ginny and Harry had come, too, of course, wearing their most ghoulish ghost bride and groom attire. Even Draco Malfoy and his wife Astoria made an appearance. Dozens of other witches and wizards had passed through the night, sharing in the imbibing and laughter of the evening. By midnight, the party had thinned out. For those in attendance with children, trick or treating was over now, which meant it was time to return home.
You had had quite a few shots of fire whisky, which had now left you sleepily sitting on the couch. George had gone up to bed due to the fact that the shop would still be open in the morning and it was his turn for the morning shift. You yawned, stretching out to lie down. Fred was still over and he sat down, pulling your boots to sit on his lap. This closeness normally would be nothing but platonic, but tonight the tension began to rise again. Maybe it was the alcohol, but you suddenly felt a wicked dizziness in your head. Your heart felt like it had risen into the bottom of your throat when Fred began to talk.
“You know, y/n, I’ve always thought you were very, very....gorgeous. Even when those stupid, snotty Slytherins would pick on you in school. Too beautiful for me, but perfect for George,” Fred was mindlessly watching a horror movie you’d put on the television. His words were slurred. “And tonight, I mean talk about a smoke show.”
“Thanks, Freddie,” you smiled, thankful for the compliment.
“Do you ever wonder...what if it would have been us?”
The question caught you off guard and you sighed a little, looking up at the ceiling. “Sometimes,” you had never admitted it out loud. But it was often that you did wonder - what if you had fallen in love with Fred instead of George?
“My feet hurt,” you allowed the words to tumble from your mouth. You were never one for a filter when drinking, either. It was just one more thing you and Fred had in common.
“Lemme help,” Fred whispered, reaching over to unzip your leather shoes from the top of your thigh to the ankle. He pulled each of them off, and then looked up at you. He placed on hand at your ankle and ran his hand up to your thigh, feeling the fabric of your fishnet stockings. Again, he ran his hand down your leg. He cleared his throat, clearing coming unglued by the feeling of your smooth legs and the course, patterned fabric of your fishnets dancing beneath his hand. Instinctively, you allowed your legs to open, tempting Fred to move his hand up further. But just as he moved his hand toward the inner part of your thigh, you swung your legs around and sat up.
You bent over quickly, grabbing your shoes and standing up. “You should go, Fred,” your throat felt dry. Nothing happened, you told yourself. You’re overreacting. He was just helping you take your boots off.
“Right, it’s late,” Fred said awkwardly, standing up and grabbing his keys off the coffee table. He didn’t drive, luckily, because it was apparent the he had also had a few too many beers.

Meant to Be (Charlie Weasley x OC)
What happens when Bill brings home a girl and Charlie is completely awestruck by her?
WARNINGS: curse words, mentions of alcohol, SMUT
A/N: This chapter contains a rather long sexy scene (probably the longest I have ever written and well..it’s…juicy. I had a day, okay. BYE 🙈)
Chapter 14
Charlie
3 months later…
“Charlie, you got a minute?” I stopped in front of the Admission Office.
“Of course, Ernie. Got something for me?” I grinned at him.
“A letter from your brother.” He handed me the envelope. “What got you all cheered up today?”
“What do you mean?” I kept looking at the letter.
After all these months it still felt amazing getting a couple of letters per week from Bill.
“I heard you whistling walking here. You only whistle when you’re in a really good mood.” He smirked.
“It’s the first Saturday in August, Ernie. You know what that means!” I couldn’t hide the smile that spread across my face.
I can’t believe Ernie noticed when I whistle.
The truth is, I don’t recall the last time I was this happy. The mating season was over. Bill and I were on speaking terms again. Just last month I was able to see all my siblings and my parents again.
We had a family reunion and Bill and I got Ron drunk by accident. We had two bottles on the table. One with wine and the other with apple juice and we forgot to check the bottle before pouring him a drink.
He, of course, didn’t say anything and after two glasses he was hammered. Bill and I couldn’t stop laughing at the way he spoke and he was so tipsy. He tried getting up and almost fell flat on his face and then found it so funny that he fell off the bench we were sitting on.
It wasn’t funny when mum found us and saw something was wrong. Bill tried to distract her but failed and she figured us out. She made us take Ron to bed and then we planned to hide in the attic with the ghoul but mum found us and she shouted in our faces for a solid hour. I felt as if I was 12 again.
When she stopped she made us go down and wait on our family members for the rest of the night. Before we did, we made an excuse that we need to use the toilet and we locked ourselves in the bathroom on the middle floor and started laughing so hard I thought I won’t be able to catch a breath. We might be 23 and 25, which is way too old to make mum so mad, but we didn’t care. We were having the time of our lives.
I can’t begin to describe how happy it made me that I could hang out with Bill again. With my siblings. To get a bone-crushing hug from Ginny and play chess with Ron. It’s indescribable. For the first time since I started working in Romania, I wanted to plan my days off to go and see them again and I was loving it.
I was finally myself again. Talking to my family. Supporting and being there for my siblings. Teasing Bill for being so in love and having the best job in the world. I even made myself a bookshelf and I am slowly filling it with books.
My routine in the Sanctuary is more or less the same. I wake up. Make myself a coffee and go watch the sunrise. I am no longer overthinking if Rhylee’s going to be there and if she is, we simply watch the sun showing itself from behind the mountains together.
I didn’t think I would be able to be friends with her after what happened at her place that night but we grew even closer. She was one of my best friends. That didn’t mean my feelings for her faded away. But they were easier to bear now that I didn’t feel guilty for being in love with her.
I have come to terms that I will never call her mine. It was painful, I am not going to lie about that but at least I can move on and not overthink her every move.
Bill and my friends in the Reserve all think that I should tell her how I feel but every time they try and persuade me I stop them. I made a mistake telling my mates what Bill told me about Nick. Ever since I did they are trying to do everything to bring me and Rhylee together. At first, I wanted to kill them but now I just find it amusing.
I am proud of myself for how much I’ve grown. I feel more mature and I see things differently. I see what matters and I push myself to do things that make me happy. I read more. I run. I train Aami and Bean, that’s the name Rhylee decided to give our albino Short-Snout. I hang out with my friends and advise my siblings. I really couldn’t ask for more.
The fact that I am still awestruck every time I see Rhylee or that my heart wants to escape my ribcage every time she laughs or looks at me, is just a minor inconvenience now. I can deal with that with everything else being so great. I wouldn’t change my current life for anything in the world if it means I make my family happy and I can hang out with my friends while having the best job.
At first, I wanted to fight my feelings. Push them down. Get rid of them somehow. But I quickly realized that I can’t change them and that it’s pointless to think they are simply going away. I have meaningless sex and even though it’s never as it was with Rhylee, it still counts as a fun night and it’s a good distraction.
I might get lucky and find myself a girl to settle down with one day. For now, I was happy with the things being as they were. It wasn’t perfect but it was much much better compared to the painful loop I was in before.
“I’ll be damned!” Ernie’s voice brought me back to reality. “I forgot about the party tonight!” He slammed his hand at his forehead. “Thanks, Charlie for reminding me! Can you imagine me forgetting about it?” He shook his head.
“Ernie, if it’s going to be anything like last year, just the music and us being all over the place would remind you soon enough.” I laughed.
Every year, in the first week of August we had a party. We invited everybody from the neighboring wizard villages and there was always someone that borrowed something Muggles call speakers. We decorate the central area of our village with lights and put tables and chairs around it so it looks like a dance floor. We hang the speakers from the trees and we help with the cooking throughout the day.
The party officially begins the second we are done with work and the music starts playing. It’s something we all look forward to all summer. Theo has been talking about it for two weeks now. He made an entire plan on getting us all so wasted that if he asked Gerta out again, we won’t remember how she slaps him in the face.
“You’re right, mate! I’ll see you there!” Ernie started putting papers together. “I have to clean up the office early if I want to make it to the party in time!”
“Want me to help you? I just finished working.” I offered.
“Oh, no! You go get all nice and ready, so you can dance with the ladies!” He laughed and I followed.
“Will do, Ernie. Will do.” I waved to him and started walking toward my home.
People were already running left and right, checking if everything is ready. I unlocked my front door and closed it with my foot while opening Bill’s letter.
Dear Charlie,
I know you’re going to be busy this weekend with your big party and everything, but I just had to write to you about this.
I bought a wedding ring for Fleur today. I am planning on asking her to marry me this weekend. I am taking her to the beach near Shell Cottage. Dad said that perhaps we could even buy it if we ask aunt Muriel nicely. I don’t want to get my hopes up but I can imagine myself living with Fleur there.
I am planning a romantic picnic and popping the question by the end of the night! I would love your opinion on the matter but I sent out this letter too late for your owl to reach me with your answer. Perhaps while you’re reading this, I’m already engaged!
Can you feel how nervous I am through my letter?
Anyways, I just needed to share that with you!
Wish me luck!
Oh, and have fun at the party! Please have the time of your life and don’t hold back in case anything ought to happen, if you know what I mean!
Love, Bill
Merlin’s beard, he is getting engaged! It was Saturday, so either he is already or he will be soon!
I jumped in the air in the middle of my living room that’s how happy I was for him. I hope they can convince aunt Muriel to sell them Shell Cottage. We used to go there as kids and it’s a wonderful place to start a family.
I blinked as I felt my eyes water. I wish I had the time to write him back and tell him how fucking proud I am of him for doing this and that I think Fleur will be thrilled for how he is planning to propose. I can’t wait for them to have babies so I can be an uncle!
What was I doing?
I put the letter down and scratched my head. I was so excited for my brother that I completely forgot.
Party! Right!
I hurried to take a shower and then opened my closet to see what I could wear. I didn’t wear jeans for ages. So let’s go with that and a buttoned shirt. I checked myself out in the small mirror in the bathroom and combed my hair with my fingers. As much as I could comb it. My hair was untamable.
I think I look pretty good! Not that it matters as I knew Theo is going to get us all drunk in about 15 minutes! I locked the door behind me and started walking toward the music.
“There he is!” Andrew raised his glass at me the second he spotted me.
“Look at you being all handsome!” Theo put a hand over my shoulder the second I sat down.
“Are you flirting with me, Theodore?” I winked at him. “My place or yours?”
“Damn, Charles. Is that how you flirt with women because if I wasn’t married I would go with you right now.” Peter laughed.
“I would love to, Weasley. But I am going home with Gerta tonight!” Theo was determined.
“Really?” Andrew and John asked together before bursting out laughing.
“We should get one of those Muggle devices that capture what is going on. So that even if none of us remembers tonight we could watch it in the morning.” Evan said.
“I will stay sober just to see Theo get slapped by Gerta!” Peter smirked.
“You’re already tipsy, boss.” Andrew obviously didn’t believe Peter will stay sober.
“Damn, you’re right.” Peter said after a few seconds of thinking about it.
We all started laughing.
Three hours later our table had 3 empty bottles of Fire Whiskey on it, more empty beer bottles than one could count and the waitress just brought another round. To say that we were completely hammered was an understatement.
We were laughing at something, tears running down my face. I am pretty confident none of us knew what the joke was or who told it.
“Theodore, there you are damn it!” Our faces got serious the second we comprehended who was standing in front of us.
“Gerta, love!” Theo stood up, knocking a few bottles off the table.
“I am just wasted enough to say yes to you. Now come with me before I change my mind!”
I have no idea how Theo fancied this woman. I was terrified of her. Even her harsh voice scared me.
We all watched Theo and Gerta going towards her hut with our mouths open.
“Please, tell me one of us will be able to remember that in the morning!” Peter whined.
“I don’t think I could forget this if I drank the entire alcohol stash in the Sanctuary.” Andrew said slowly.
He looked like he was about to throw up.
“What is happening?” Evan, who was sleeping, leaned on his crossed arms, lifted his head.
“Gerta just took Theo home.” I answered, still in shock.
“What?!” I thought his eyes were going to fall out of their sockets and I think it’s safe to say he just sobered up.
“Look, Charlie!” Peter and John leaned against me. “It’s Rhylee.” They sang together.
“So?” I rolled my eyes.
I knew this was coming. I was hoping they would be too drunk to remember to tease me about her, but apparently, they weren’t there yet.
“Come on! Go and dance with her!” John tried pushing me to stand up but he was too weak.
It was funny how I was the youngest but did the best with alcohol.
“Give me a break, mates.” I pretended to look through the bottles to see if there was one that wasn’t opened yet.
“C’mon! She has been eyeing you all night!” Peter said. “Have some fun, will you!”
I sighed and got up. I knew they wouldn’t stop until I would go and ask her to dance. And to be perfectly honest, I was too drunk to care or to feel nervous about it.
I made my way to her. Surprised that I wasn’t tipsy at all.
“Hi.” I waved at her awkwardly. “Want to dance?”
“Sure!” She grinned and stood up at once.
I haven’t noticed how drunk she was until we reached the dance floor and she started hugging me. We danced to a few songs and I didn’t even dare to look at the table where my friends were sitting. They would probably start cheering.
The next song was a slow one. Shit! Who’s idea was this?
Rhylee pulled me closer, our bodies slamming against each other and if I wasn’t so steady on my feet we would collapse to the ground. She wrapped her arms around my waist and brought her face closer to mine.
“You look very handsome tonight.” She winked at me.
Okay, I think it’s time to take her home. She is drunk and doesn’t know what she’s saying.
“Thanks. You look great too.” I didn’t know what else to say.
Of course, she looked great. She was gorgeous. But I’m not going to admit that to her.
I didn’t like the way she was looking at me. Not one bit. It’s the same look she was giving me all night the night we had sex at the Burrow and I am not going through that again. I might not be hurting anyone this time but she was in a relationship.
“Let’s get you home, shall we.” I smiled at her and hugged her over the shoulder.
“No! Why?” She tried to stop me. “We just started dancing. Come on, Charlie! Loosen up a bit!” She got so close to me that if I wouldn’t move my head backward we would kiss.
This was getting out of hand.
She wrapped her hands around me again. How was she so strong if she was as drunk as she appeared to be? I sighed and we danced through one more song.
“Okay, now you can take me home.” Her whispering in my ear sent shivers down my spine.
We were slowly making our way through the crowd, toward her cottage when I remembered that I never opened the present she got me for Christmas at the Burrow. I have no idea why it popped in my head but I was just drunk enough not to care and admit to her that I lost it.
“Hey, Rhy?” I cleared my throat.
“Yes?” Her eyes were too hopeful for my liking.
“Do you remember the present you gave me for Christmas when we met?” She simply hummed in response.
I felt my cheeks turn pink. This was embarrassing. After what happened between us and she gave me the little package, I simply tossed it in my bag. I don’t remember where I put it once I got back to Romania and I don’t even know why we are talking about it now but apparently drunk Charlie’s curiosity got the better of him and wants to know what’s inside.
“I never got the chance to open it and I misplaced it somehow. What was inside?” I said as quickly as I could.
I didn’t want to offend her for losing it.
“What?” She laughed.
“What was inside the little box?” I repeated the question.
“Where did you lose it?” She ignored me.
“It has to be somewhere in my cottage if I didn’t toss it in the trash by accident.” I scratched my chin, thinking hard where it could be.
“Well, let’s go then!” She grabbed my hand and started walking.
“Where are you taking me?” I chuckled.
“We are going to search your place for my present!” She bestowed me with the biggest grin I have ever seen.
She seemed so pleased with her idea.
“Now?” I chortled.
“Yes!” She exclaimed. “The gift might be silly but we got to see what I got you!”
“You don’t remember?” I raised my eyebrows at her and she stopped walking for a second.
“I am not sure.” She said slowly after a few seconds. “Come on, Charlie! It’ll be fun!”
I haven’t seen her this relaxed and happy in months. She grabbed my hand and started walking towards my cottage again. She was so excited to do this that I simply couldn’t deny her the satisfaction of finding the little box. And to be completely honest, I didn’t want to stop her.
“Okay, so if I was a little box, where would I be?” She put her hands on her hips, thinking hard, her eyes scanning every shelf and drawer. I started in the kitchen and she went to check the compartment in my bathroom.
After half an hour we completely trashed the place but I didn’t mind at all. I was having too much fun with her. She started throwing the clothes out of my closet, jumper after jumper and I started moving the socks away to see if I tossed it in the drawer.
I almost gave up when my fingers touched something that wasn’t fabric. I pulled out a small red box with a green bow on it. This was it!
“Rhy, I found it!” I heard her gasp.
I think she was standing inside my closet. I laughed when she poked her head out of it. She was adorable!
She hurried to me, stepping over piles of clothes, and stopped right in front of me.
“Open it.” She whispered, her eyes on the box in my hands.
I slowly removed the lid and shook the box’s contents onto my palm. I couldn’t believe it. It was a dragon scale. A dragon scale of an albino dragon.
That’s what she got me for Christmas?
I know it didn’t mean anything because she didn’t even know who she was bringing the gift to but I was still astounded. She knew I loved dragons so she got me a dragon scale. I couldn’t take my eyes off it.
“You call this a silly gift?” I breathed.
Rhylee dragged her finger across it and put it back in the box. I was so in shock at what it was that I didn’t notice how fast she was breathing. She took the box from my hand and placed it on top of my dresser.
“Rhy, are you o…”
She cupped my face and kissed me hard on the mouth. I was so startled by her action that I didn’t have the time to respond.
“I’m sorry.” She pulled away, her hand over her mouth.
“Emm…it’s okay.” I didn’t know what to say.
I just kept staring at her with my eyes wide open, trying to calm my heart down.
“I shouldn’t have done that.” I could see the panic in her eyes growing.
What the fuck am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to pretend I didn’t enjoy the kiss? Because that would be a bloody lie. I have been dreaming about kissing her again since we spent the night together at the Burrow.
Did she even know what she was doing? How drunk was she? Because that kiss definitely sobered me up! I thought we were over this. She stopped that night when I came to her place. Why did she do it now? I thought I was doing a good job being her friend. Why does she mess with me like this!
I needed every muscle in my body not to grab her hand and pull her back for another kiss. I can’t do this, can I? She has a boyfriend. Somebody will get hurt again! I can’t go through that guilt again. I can’t hurt someone else. Even if I don’t know the guy. Even if he is a prick like Bill said.
Bill…
What did Bill say in his letter this morning?
Please have the time of your life and don’t hold back in case anything ought to happen, if you know what I mean!
Don’t hold back. Bill, that’s not helping!
I was trapped. I wanted to grab her hand and prevent her from leaving but at the same time, I wanted to do the right thing. My heart was beating so fast that it hurt and the look in Rhylee’s eyes wasn’t helping me decide. It was a mix of panic and hope. Hope, that I would decide for her whether or not this was a bad idea.
Of course, it’s a bad idea, Rhylee! It’s the worst possible idea.
“I have to go.” She bowed her head and started towards the door of my bedroom.
It’s a bad idea.
It is a really bad idea.
I know, damn it!
But do I care?
I stepped toward her, almost tripping over the clothes on the floor.
Do I care?
I grabbed her hand and turned her around, our bodies colliding. Her eyes slowly moved up to lock with mine. We were both breathing heavily.
“Charlie.”
Damn it, Rhylee! You can’t say my name like that. Don’t ask for me to do something.
Okay, let’s go over this again.
Is it a bad idea? Yes.
Do I care? I am just drunk enough that it’s safe to say that no, I do not.
I placed my hands around her neck and kissed her. I thought she was going to resist me. I was waiting for her to pull away. But she didn’t. She was doing quite to opposite. She parted my lips with her tongue and it gently found mine. She was kissing me back.
Merlin’s beard, this was insane! I can’t believe I forgot how good her lips felt on mine. What an amazing kisser she was. How soft her lips were and with what passion she kissed me.
I put her hands on her hips and brought us closer to the bed. With a gentle nudge, she was lying on it, that playful look in her eyes again. I climbed on top of her and wrapped my fingers around her hair and gently pulled it back so she tilted her head and revealed her neck.
I placed a soft kiss just behind her right ear and I felt her tremble. I kissed her again, not so softly this time. I started biting her neck and I felt her moving under me.
This simply can’t be wrong. It felt too right to be wrong.
I pushed myself up and started to unbutton my shirt. I looked down at her. Damn, she was so sexy. She always was but the fact that she was wearing a dress when she always wears either jeans or sweatpants was frying my brain.
“Please, fuck me, Charlie!”
Seriously, she was begging me?
Why in Godric’s Hollow did I put a shirt with so many buttons on? I don’t have time to do this! I put my hands on my chest and pulled the shirt off me. The sound of fabric ripping filled my ears and my heart started pumping even faster when I saw Rhylee’s eyes shine.
I helped her get up and pressed her against the wall. She wants me to do her, I will do it my way!
I took my precious time unzipping her dress. I could feel her getting impatient but I knew she liked the tease. If she only knew what she got herself into.
She took her arms out of her sleeves and shook her body so the dress fell off her. I turned her around, her back to the wall now, and spread her legs. She was observing my every move, curious what I was going to do next.
“Lift your arms.” I demanded and without questioning me they were above her head.
I wrapped my left hand around her wrists and pulled her underwear down with my right one. I unhooked her bra without hesitation. She was now standing in front of me, completely naked. I stuck my tongue down her throat while circling her nipple. She moaned in my mouth.
Oh, Rhylee, you haven’t felt anything yet.
I slowly moved my fingers down across her belly button, still kissing her. It didn’t really surprise me that the second my fingers ran past her clit, they drowned in her wetness. She gasped in my mouth as I started moving them in circles.
I let go of her arms now and she put them around my neck, trying to keep it together. I have to say she was doing a rather poor job.
“What is it?” I teased her when I started moving my fingers around faster and her eyes rolled back.
“Fuck…you.” She said between her moans.
“I’m a little busy focusing on you right now, Rhy.” I whispered to her.
She tried squeezing her legs together but I didn’t let her. I felt her getting tighter and I was determined not to stop until she screams from pleasure.
“Are you going to cum already?” I laughed playfully.
“I…I can’t hold it.” She cried.
“Oh, don’t hold back.” I bit the tip of her ear as her breathing got even faster.
She buried her fingers in my hair and kissed me. She was pressing hard against my lips, clutching my fingers with her soaked walls, muffling her moans with the kiss. It was pure euphoria, feeling her tremble. It brought me pleasure on another level.
“Stop.” She finally pulled herself together to talk.
“Are you sure?” I mocked her.
The look in her eyes was saying otherwise.
“It’s your turn.” She winked at me.
“Oh, I am not done with you.” I pressed her harder against the wall and placed a gentle kiss on her collar bone.
She winced, her body still sensitive to my touch.
She was speechless and her eyes were full of the wonder of what my next move will be.
“You begged me to fuck you. Don’t you know you have to think before you speak?”
I bit her neck. And her shoulder. And made a few circles with my tongue around her nipple, while playing with the other one with my finger. I kissed the scar that painted her belly. And just below the belly button. I got to my knees and spread her legs again.
I slowly ran my finger across her clit and she shivered.
“Are you ready to cum for me again?” She bit her lip and nodded in reply.
My fingers slipped back into her. This time I decided to take it more slowly. Let’s see how she likes it if I move my fingers in and out. Does that do anything?
She arched her back, scratching the wall behind her. And what if I do this?
I spread her legs just a bit more, lowered my head, and kissed her wet lips.
“Oh.” She let out a sigh.
I ran my tongue over her clit and started turning it in gentle circles. As she started breathing faster I doubled the pressure and felt her knees give in.
“Keep it together, Rhy.” I teased, my fingers still hard at work.
She grabbed my hair and pushed me back to continue my work.
“Fuck, Charlie.”
I don’t know if she was so horny or was I doing such a good job as it didn’t take her long to cum again. Her body was spasming more than before and this time she didn’t have my lips to stifle her moans. I loved how loud she was. How her pleasureful sounds filled my ears. It was like a drug.
I got up and wrapped my arms around her. She was a mess.
“Have enough yet?” I winked at her.
“No.” She giggled.
“Good.” I nodded.
I put my hands on her hips and lifted her and she automatically wrapped her legs around me. I gave her just enough space between our bodies that she unzipped my jeans and pulled them off.
She grabbed my dick, looking me straight in the eyes, and bit her lips when she placed it right in front of her juicy entrance. I don’t know what she was expecting as a surprised gasp left her mouth when I thrust in her.
She wrapped her arms around me and held tight to keep herself steady, moaning while I was rocking my hips back and forth.
Fuck, she felt good. This was insane. I knew that with all the adrenaline running through my veins, the alcohol left my head a long time ago but I still felt dizzy. I can’t believe it was even better than the last time.
I fantasized about sleeping with her more times than I would like to admit. I just couldn’t help it. She was the best I ever had. I could be myself around her. Somehow I knew exactly what she wanted and I wanted to give it to her. Badly.
I have to start thinking about something else. She felt too good and she was getting tighter again. I want to wreck her completely. I want her to forget her name and I want her to scream mine again.
“Charlie.” She moaned in my ear.
“Have enough of me yet?”
“Charlie.” She said louder.
“Yeah.”
“I…”
“What is it, sweetheart?” I placed a soft kiss on her neck as I started to move my hips even faster.
“I…”
“Come on, you can do it.” I encouraged her to speak.
I was too amused by how weak she was.
“Oh, my…” Her eyelids fluttered and I felt her squeezing me even more.
“Cum for me again.” I breathed.
I could watch her moan and twist from pleasure all night every night.
“Charlie, I can’t.” She finally managed to complete a full sentence.
I stopped moving my hips and froze.
“Are you okay?” I lifted her chin and made her look at me.
“Why the fuck did you stop?” Her eyes widened.
“You said you can’t, I thought…” I blinked at her.
I was so confused.
“I…” She bit her lip and looked away.
“What is it?” I tilted my head to find her eyes again.
“I never came three times before.” She mumbled so fast that I thought I heard her wrong.
“Oh.” I pressed my lips together, to stop them from spreading into a smile. “Well, do you think you could cum again?” I asked gently.
“Yes. I was close.” That naughty smile is going to be the death of me.
“Then let’s break your record, shall we?” I smirked at her and lifted her so she wrapped her legs around me again.
I entered her slowly this time and she pushed my hips more towards her immediately when she saw what I was doing.
“Don’t get slow on me now, Weasley.” She bit my lip and sent a new wave of adrenaline through my veins.
I decided to tease her just for saying that. I slowly pulled my hips back, so that only my tip was inside of her and then pushed my hips forward again with such a force that it took her breath away.
I did it again.
And again and again and again until she started screaming from pleasure again. For a second I thought she was going to pass out as her eyes sealed shut and she gasped for air between her moans. But I was determined not to stop until her body relaxes or she tells me to stop. She was doing neither.
She barely had the strength to wrap her hand around my neck so I could lift her when she stopped moaning. I took her to my bed and covered her.
“What are you doing?” She asked, her voice rusty from all the sounds she was making.
“I’m going to take a shower. You need some rest.” I winked at her.
“We need to take care of you first.” Her eyes moved from mine, down to my dick which was still hard.
“You can do that later. Now rest.” I placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
I walked out of the room, straight into the shower.
Just as the hot water started running down my body, I felt her press her body against mine from behind.
“Miss me already?” I turned around and smirked.
“I told you…” She kneeled. “We have to take care of you.”
She didn’t have a chance to say anything else as she grabbed my dick and put it in her mouth. Damn, she was good at sucking dick. It was unbelievable. I was the one with weak knees now. She was moving her mouth so fast as if she wanted to get revenge for before.
I wanted to watch her doing it. I wanted to see how she chokes on my dick but I couldn’t. It felt too good and I couldn’t stop my eyes from rolling back and closing them. I buried my fingers into her wet hair and helped her move.
I loved how she enjoyed doing it. The way she was moaning and looking up at me. I can’t take it anymore. I let out a loud groan as I came, the water washing my load off her face.
“Now, I can rest.” She smirked and I helped her get up.
I turned her around, wrapped my arms around her and placed a kiss on her shoulder.

hellooooooooo!!!!!!!!! So, I was wondering if you could do an idol au for the juniors? Like they're the idols, and the reader catches their eye at a fansign or some event or maybe even a coffee shop, if they're lucky lol. Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuu ilysm
 hi there!
this is so cute, i would love to write this request for you.
cheers
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Lan Sizhui
when Sizhui’s eyes land on you, for a spilt second, he’s rendered speechless
more so than his quiet, shy persona, that most of the fans had dubbed him
‘bun boy’, ‘little bunny’ and other variants of that, considering his natural docile and shy personality
but when he sees you, well
it makes him shy for a whole different reason
because you’re so, absolutely so pretty
and it makes him a little bit unbalanced with how it is, because you’re so beautiful in a way that he doesn’t get to see very often
with how long he’s been in the industry
you’re a normal person,
and you are beautiful
“i can’t believe i’m finally meeting you, you’re...i’ve been following your band since debut” you trip over your words,
but Sizhui just finds it enamoring,
he stutters out a word of thanks, signing quietly as his brain racks for other words, other phrases, anything to continue to keep the conversation going
“you all have come so far. i’m so proud of all your achievements and just how much you’ve grown,”
“especially you, my bias,”
you drop that on him paired with a bombshell smile and Sizhui’s redness is tinted on his cheeks (and all over his ears)
he hopes the fan sites don’t catch on to that
much too soon you’ve moved down the table to the rest of his bandmates
and even though more fans come to greet and chat with him,
his eyes can’t stay help
but follow you
Lan Jingyi
the concert hall moves with the bass and the music of the band
Jingyi sings his heart out on stage
like he was born to do
him and his band members do their fan service during breaks and perform their sexy concepts during showtime
and the performances never end
because they have to bring the best (and only the best) for their fans
so when the latest of the night almost breaks into dawn
Jingyi finally feels his breath slow down as the end of the concert dwindles down
he loves his fans, every single one of them
which is why he loves their band ritual every concert
that being throwing a part of their outfit out into the crowd
Jingyi’s light sweater tonight is a custom knit with the band’s logo on the back
it had been comfy when he had worn it to perform and it was probably soaked in his sweat
but he guesses somebody out there in the crowd of 50,000 was going to love it
when he throws it out into the crowd, it kind of scares him the way that the people create a physical wave to try and get the item
he’s worried that the fans might hurt each other or themselves
but before he can notify security, Jingyi catches his sweater break out from the crowd, held by one small thin hand
you smile a wide, happy smile as you wave the sweater back to him, like a trophy
Jingyi smiles back, happy to have made someone happy
you wear the sweater immediately, either to keep you warm or to show it off or both
Jingyi doesn’t stand at the edge of the stage much longer
but he has to admit
that the sweater looks good on you
Jin Ling
“who am I signing this too?” Jin Ling asks, a little mindlessly, a little busy
and yes, Jin Ling loves his fans,
knows how important they are
and how they supported his career and gave him the momentum to reach the heights that he currently was at now
but he had had a long night at the studio previously
and was still a little sleep deprived from the past week’s compositions and music video work
so it takes him a second to really register the name
and another second to realize that he doesn’t register it at all (above the din of the chattering and shouts of the fan signing event)
“y/n”
Jin Ling looks up from signing your album, his sharpie stilling on the glossy sheen of the packaging
Jin Ling blinks, a little awed by your voice, a lot surprised by your face
you’re not part of the typical audience that he sees
where most reign from people in their early 40s, maybe into the late 70s,
(Jin Ling was a classical violinist and the demographic that listened to his work was a bit more old for lack of a better word)
you were a lot younger,
a lot closer to his age
“i’m really honored to be meeting you now. i’ve always loved all of your compositions,” you beam at him, glancing down at his classical album and then back up to him
your small words of encouragement give him enough energy to sign your name with a heart and treble clef,
he smiles a small smile at you, wishes that he smiled wider before you’re off of the line and the next fan steps up
as he’s signing for the next person, a sweet old lady, he wishes that he’d kept up a longer conversation
maybe he could have gotten a number with your name
Ouyang Zizhen
when Zizhen sees you, for a sudden, small moment, he wishes that he wasn’t famous
because if he wasn’t so well known
with so many agents
rules,
opinions
to account for beside his own
than he could simply walk up to you standing by the counter of the cafe
could start a conversation without the worries of who saw,
heard,
thought
just what the two of you wanted to think
and perhaps, you could go somewhere together after realizing that you both have the same taste in coffee
and Zizhen could learn how your hair looks when sunlight hits it just right
“oh my gosh? is that...that’s him! from Untamed Boys!”
and the comments halts his daydreams, his thoughts, his wonders almost instantaneously
makes him itch to fix his mask higher on his face, even though that would make it obvious
Zizhen thanks the worker that makes his coffee by the counter,
and can’t even spare a single goodbye gaze at you
as he rushes out of the cafe
at the counter you sip at your coffee
unknowing of the daydream that you had been part of
the longing you had unintentionally caused

Xiao Zhan, welcome to the cruel entertainment business
Original Article: https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/6qaJPp9O1exu4M8xtbt71A Original Author: 杨晋亚 Translator’s note: The original author is part of Yuli Studio, this article is published in Yuli Studio’s Weixin Official Account on 15 Sep 2019 as a part of “Behind the Screens” Volume 210.
“I never thought it would happen this way, this was fated.”
A month ago, he was just accepted by audiences due to “The Untamed” and just became one of the most popular actors. Now, he had to take on the responsibility of a movie’s box office as the main lead actor, and show his worth to the movie industry.
Three days before “Jade Dynasty I” aired in the cinemas, Yuli Studio met up with the nervous Xiao Zhan, who told us his fears, “Movies, well, they are very direct, very pragmatic and very cruel, so there’s no choice, since we’re already here, I just have to work hard to do my best.”
With traffic and popularity, comes others’ views and opinions – some expected him to withstand the stress of the box office, but there were also others waiting to laugh at his failure. “Jade Dynasty I” was the first obstacle Xiao Zhan was breaking through, and the path ahead was still long.
Xiao Zhan, welcome to the cruel entertainment business.

Xiao Zhan at “Jade Dynasty I” Press Conference
01
Looking back at the movie journeys of all the traffic actors, no one was like Xiao Zhan, who took on a movie while he was still a nobody, and this movie aired just barely 2 months after he made a name, putting his resource conversion ability to a public test.
On the first day, the box office was 142 million, on the second day it broke 200 million, these were the results “Jade Dynasty I” achieved during the Mid Autumn movie season, which exceeded many people’s expectations. The first day was with fans support, the second day still had interested moviegoers, Xiao Zhan’s first time as the lead actor on silver screen and he miraculously withstood the box office.
Tumblr media
“Jade Dynasty I” Super Topic + Maoyan Movie Professional Box Office Chart
This was Xiao Zhan’s third time on the silver screen.
The first time, he was a little monster dressed in flowery clothes in “Monster Hunt 2”, drowned in a sea of group actors, almost unnoticeable as the camera panned past him in a second. The second time, he was a special agent, a side character that barely had 1 minute of screen time, in “The Rookies” during that year’s summer movie season. The third time, he became the main lead actor and took on the entire movie, presenting the process of innocent Zhang Xiaofan becoming a demon.
The production team of “Jade Dynasty I” revealed that, whether or not Xiao Zhan became popular, the movie was planned to air on 8 Aug, however because the post production was incomplete, hence it was shifted to the Mid Autumn movie season.
Director Cheng Xiaodong said that the luckiest decision he made for “Jade Dynasty I” was to cast Xiao Zhan, “I never thought that his acting would be so natural so good, he is not pretentious, and he is very humble, when you tell him something he will listen and improve.”
Tumblr media

On set, Cheng Xiaodong even actively added some scenes for Xiao Zhan, for example the scene at the start of the movie where Xiaofan was fantasizing about his senior, Tian Linger, “I found that he could act in all layers, he could do dull and dimwitted, he could do the demonizing transformation later on, so this movie he had many layers, the pace kept changing.”
To Xiao Zhan, Zhang Xiaofan of “Jade Dynasty I” was an unforgettable milestone, it was considered to be his toughest filming. Filming in conditions under 20°C and being blown by a giant fan, hung upside down for a free fall of 30 meters, in order to maintain his sense of the role, he even turned off the heater in his trailer, just so that his body will adapt to the temperature outside.
Before “Jade Dynasty I” aired, Xiao Zhan once said, “If the reception of the movie isn’t very good, I just have to work harder in the future. If it was not bad, then I am grateful that you saw my hard work from that period of time.”
After the movie aired, Xiao Zhan became the center of discussion for “Jade Dynasty I”. The movie’s quality was the result of an entire movie crew’s hard work, but now that all the discussions had landed on Xiao Zhan, to a certain degree, that was the price to pay for fame.

On 23 Aug, there was a video on Weibo that was reposted a few tens of thousands of times.
In the video, Xiao Zhan had just ended a day’s filming, and after he got off the car, the 20 over fans waiting at the hotel entrance got rowdy, they blocked Xiao Zhan’s path and took pictures of him in his face using their phones. Spotting a gap at the side, Xiao Zhan suddenly took off running, and then he safely entered the elevator.
During the filming period of “The Oath of Love” recently at Wuxi, crazy fan actions were happening everyday as Xiao Zhan went to and from his work, sometimes they would surround and block him in the underground car park, sometimes when he got into the car they would forcibly block the car doors from closing, sometimes they would knock on his hotel room door to stuff notes to him.
Xiaofan, a staff who worked around Xiao Zhan said that the sasaeng problems was already very serious, the company wanted to provide him two assistants and security guards, but Xiao Zhan insisted not to.
“Because he didn’t want to give off the impression that he started acting like a big shot after he got famous.”
Tumblr media
During the interview, Xiao Zhan spoke about the sasaeng problems again
From the media’s perspective, we have witnessed many artists change after they got famous, some would have a star aura, some would be exuding confidence from in to out, Yuli Studio’s reporter Lanpangzi once visited the set of “The Untamed”, and one year later met Xiao Zhan again at the “Jade Dynasty I” press conference, Lanpangzi discovered that Xiao Zhan was still as warm and accommodating like the boy-next-door.
At the backstage of the press conference, a few tens of guests spoke to Xiao Zhan consecutively, he was smiling at everyone, and slowly fulfilled each and everyone’s request to take a photograph together, and only until 4pm that afternoon he was able to finally have time for a few mouths of a lunchbox. The continuous non-stop interviews started at 4.05pm, all the reporters wanted a photograph together, and he tried to accommodate even under such tight scheduling.
After becoming famous, Xiao Zhan had more and more interviews, and if he was not careful, he would be accused of putting on airs if the arrangements of the interviews were done wrongly. Xiaofan said that Xiao Zhan himself was especially aware of this point, “He is now even more nervous than before, and he had expectations of all of his staff, please don’t think that he is putting on airs just because of our errors.”
Tumblr media
Xiao Zhan at the “Jade Dynasty I” Press Conference
After joining the “Jade Dynasty I” press conference in Beijing, Xiao Zhan had to quickly fly back to Wuxi to continue filming.
Before “The Untamed” finished airing, Xiao Zhan had already entered the filming for “The Oath of Love”, and filming while at the height of his fame would mean that he would miss a lot of event opportunities. When his fans were worried about his limited exposures, Xiao Zhan’s thoughts was that: “What’s there to be worried about, I feel that an actor’s life comes from his works.”
In fact, Xiao Zhan had received a lot of invitations from many events, so his biggest worry was how he could maintain his normal acting condition.
“Some events you just had to complete, and then I had some commercial obligations prior, like that day at Suzhou, that was a contract that I signed then,” Xiaofan said, “the last thing that Xiao Zhan wanted to do was to take leave.”
Xiao Zhan’s current schedule at “The Oath of Love” was from 8am to 10pm, if he had to take leave, it meant that when Xiao Zhan returned to the set he would have to work overtime to film his scenes.
Tumblr media

The performance teacher accompanying the filming , Yang Xu, witnessed Xiao Zhan’s helplessness and anxiety.
“His load in ‘The Oath of Love’ was especially big, basically we could only discuss his scenes that day while he was doing his make up in the morning, because the filming would end very late at night, I wanted him to go back for more rest. Moreover the fan problems now are too prominent, sometimes he would also talk to me a bit, although I don’t think this incident affected his mood or his performance, but it definitely affected his normal resting time.”
For a while, Yang Xu was very worried about Xiao Zhan’s condition, but what surprised him was that, although the filming would end very late at night, but by the next day, Xiao Zhan would have memorized his lines and made full preparations before coming to the make up room.
“That was what made him powerful, and I found that he would actually really use every bit of spare time to prepare for the role and his lines, for example, while doing his make up, even when going to the toilet, he would be holding the script, and then during the rest period after filming every scene, he would be reading his lines with me while drinking coffee, because lines reading needed partners, I said you just take me as your partner.”
When he was away from the set on leave, Xiao Zhan took late night flights between Beijing and Wuxi almost every time, and in the photographs taken by his fans at the airport, he would also be reading his script.
Tumblr media

Every early morning at the make up room would also be the spare time for Xiao Zhan and Xiaofan to talk about their work and release stress.
“Now he does not seem to enjoy the applause and glory from the opportunities that came with his sudden fame, a lot of it was some anxiety and confusion,” in Xiaofan’s eyes, these two months in Xiao Zhan’s life definitely changed.
“Suddenly, we experienced a lot of things that we don’t quite understand, it could have been a small mistake at work, but we would gain the attention of anti-fans or fans. He is more of an introvert, he doesn’t go out to entertain, stays at home more, leads simple life, and suddenly his life came under the spotlight, wherever he went there will be fans following, he was definitely anxious.”
The seniors in the industry would also give Xiao Zhan some advice, and share with him some of the survival rules in the entertainment world that he had not experienced. “For example we will having having a fun conversation, or someone would be telling some something he does not know about in the industry, the next day he will tell me that the conversation made him quite excited, he learned a lot, I feel like he is a sponge like person, continuously absorbing,” a senior in the industry revealed.

On 10 Aug, a day before the filming starts for “The Oath of Love”, performance teacher Yang Xu finally met Xiao Zhan again.
The script for “The Oath of Love” was given to Yang Xu quite early on, Xiao Zhan also wanted to quickly get into the preparation for this role, but because the promotion schedule for “The Untamed” was too tight, they did not manage to squeeze out some time to discuss about the script face-to-face.
“That day’s morning he just fixed his costume, we only met briefly at night,” Yang Xu recalled, but what put him at ease was that Xiao Zhan already made full analysis and preparation of the script, “At that time, I felt assured, his analytical skills of his roles were getting stronger, he was already able to analyze the script independently.”
Yang Xu, who was once a teacher in Central Drama School, participated in many dramas, such as “Nothing Gold Can Stay”, as their performance instructor. When he joined “The Oath of Love”, it was already his third time working with Xiao Zhan.
Tumblr media

While filming “The Untamed”, Xiao Zhan told the visiting staff from Yuli Studio that he wished to improve his lines. After finishing “Jade Dynasty I”, Xiao Zhan proactively went to Yang Xu for a few classes.
The airing “The Untamed” in this summer made many viewers notice the actor Xiao Zhan.
In the “Bloodbath at Nevernight City” in episode 32, Wei Wuxian stood on top of a roof, facing off the accusations from all of the sects, crying and laughing, unable to explain himself. In this part, the Yiling Patriarch’s rage was at his max, and it was Xiao Zhan’s golden moment of his acting abilities, and many drama fans were surprised to find out that the filming of that scene was done in the same day as another scene – that day’s morning was the filming of youth Wei Wuxian in the library, and at night he immediately went into the condition of the Yiling Patriarch dying in Nevernight City.
We asked him how he could film such extreme conditions within the same day, Xiao Zhan confessed that he himself did not know, “I saw some gifs and clips, if I had to suddenly redo this scene, I don’t think I can outperform that me then, I guess that time it was the accumulation of time and condition, maybe that period of time I had already blended into the role.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stage photographs from “The Untamed”, Wei Wuxian at Nevernight City and the Library
Drama fans attributed this to Xiao Zhan’s “self-sacrificing styled acting” performance method, in the drama, Wei Wuxian depended on someone to use the “self-sacrificing curse” 16 years later to resurrect – this “self-sacrifice” meant that Xiao Zhan gave himself entirely to the role of Wei Wuxian.
To Yang Xu, Xiao Zhan’s instinctive acting method, where he became the role, actually came from this “sincerity”, and this was where the advantage of Xiao Zhan as an actor lied.
“Xiao Zhan is a very sincere person, I spoke to him then that sincerity is a very important quality in an actor. This sincerity meant that he could 100% give away himself, he was the same when he was taking classes with me. Because when we were practicing, he also needed to share some of his privacy or live experiences, he would share them very sincerely.”
Tumblr media

Yang Xu felt that the introvert and quiet Doctor Gu from “The Oath of Love” was more like Xiao Zhan in his everyday life. But Xiao Zhan felt nervous about this role having similarities with his own character, because he felt that he had not acted in any contemporary dramas. Before filming started, he constantly asked Yang Xu about the differences between contemporary dramas and period dramas, whether he was to portray life as more at will compared to period dramas.
Yang Xu told him, at its core they are acting out human emotions, therefore he must truly experience the life of this character, and then build a realistic communication with his partner.
“Yang Zi is a more quick-witted actress, her performances are very varied, if at this time Xiao Zhan wasn’t about to build enough communication with Yang Zi, or not focused enough, then the two of them might not be able to match up. But what’s good is that Xiao Zhan is very sincere, and he could receive Yang Zi’s performance, and then reply with his layered emotions. I was on set watching a few of their scenes, I personally feel that Xiao Zhan did very well.”
From “Jade Dynasty I” to “The Oath of Love”, Yang Xu saw the growth of Xiao Zhan within this half year. During the process of working with Yang Zi, Xiao Zhan became willing to try more variations, willing to breakthrough his fixed style of acting, and look for changes in every scene and every line.
“He is very concerned about how he crafts every single character, he has his own expectations of his performance and profession, he will never be satisfied with his results and what he has attained in performance. He will forever be seeking, and with this seeking, he will have motivation to learn and grow. And he is very talented, I always tell him, you definitely can become a good actor.”

04
We reverse the time back to early 2017, Xiao Zhan has just joined the filming of “Battle Through the Heaven”, as the minor role Lin Xiuya.
Then, Xiao Zhan had just entered the entertainment industry for barely a year, and acted in a web drama that he jokingly called it his “dark history” later on.
During the performance classes before the filming of “Battle Through the Heaven”, Xiao Zhan stood out from all the newcomers, not only because of his outstanding looks, but also because he was well-mannered and polite, very hardworking during the filming, and left a great impression on the staff.
“Battle Through the Heaven” was filmed throughout the Chinese New Year period of 2017, the new actors did not go home, and one of the seniors in the crew was talking to them, telling them that as a singer in China, their career progression might be more limited, and they should go down the path of acting, but the path of acting is a path of no return, they could only move forward and not backwards, therefore you will need to put in everything for it.
Tumblr media

Born in 1991, Xiao Zhan was the representative of “over-aged commoner pursuing an entertainment business dream”, he only started to learn dancing at the age of 24, debuting as a part of a boy group. That spring, the 26 year old took in what the senior said, and started to consider the possibility of changing his career path.
At that time, Xiao Zhan was not confident, he felt that he came from an idol group background, and he was not sure if he could become an actor. But one of the strengths of Xiao Zhan was that he would not consider whether he could or not, instead, he would “choose, I just want to do it well, do it first, we’ll see the results later”.
Just like him starting to learn dancing with no foundations, but he saw effects after a month; during the idol competition his mentor Shu Qi suggested that he train his gaze, and a few weeks later he started to shed off the commoner in his gaze; in the transformation to become an actor, the senior encouraged him to lose weight first, and come to the set of “The Wolf” 3 months later, he really lost 10lbs.
“The Wolf” was Xiao Zhan’s entry work, followed through the entire drama as a part of the lead actors, and gained an acting quality improvement from 0 points to 50 points. A member of the staff revealed that hotels with better conditions were further away from the set, and in order to leave more time to acting, Xiao Zhan took the initiative to pick a hotel that was near the set despite it having worse conditions.
Tumblr media

During the filming period of “Battle Through the Heaven” and “The Wolf”, transforming from a singer to an actor facing cameras, that sensation once caused Xiao Zhan to lose the sense of himself, unsure how he could let the audiences believe that he was that role. During the filming of “The Untamed”, Xiao Zhan was still not confident enough, compared to the newcomers around him that came from acting schools, Xiao Zhan did not have any advantages.
“My thoughts and intentions had always been very simple, that is I want to do it well,” Xiao Zhan said, during the filming of “The Wolf”, he filmed in the day and took classes at night, writing his acting analysis in the late night, he also broke down once or twice, writing them while crying, but eventually he persisted.
The seed of stubbornness and refusal to admit defeat is deeply rooted in Xiao Zhan’s body, as a child he would go to Shaoniangong every weekend to learn drawing, and nothing would keep him from it, because that was something he wanted to do from his heart; when competing in the idol competition, facing many teammates who were from music academies, he thought to himself that “if you could do it, then I could do it too, and I’ll do it even better”; when filming, he believed that viewers would not be concerned whether he came from an acting background, but the most direct answer would be whether he acted well or not.
“The Untamed” finally brought the actor Xiao Zhan to everyone’s notice.
That summer, he became the entertainment business’s new top traffic power, his supertopic firmly in the top three, all kinds of gossip forums had posts about him, and “Jade Dynasty I” also showcased his appeal.
Tumblr media

Why was he able to receive so much love this summer?
There were many within the entertainment circle that looked well upon Xiao Zhan, two of them could provide answers or a type of assessment:
“Xiao Zhan used his acting abilities to conquer me”; “I see the shadow of every worker on him, he carries the hopes and dreams of every man pursuing a dream.”
There was a microblog titled “Recording Xiao Zhan’s every man moments” that obtained 330 thousand likes, and within it, fans shared many little stories about him.
For example, after living for 28 years, Xiao Zhan’s most prideful moment was to have his logo sell well as a designer; the backgrounds of his group’s concerts and the web drama’s slides were all drawn by him; his mobile phone home screen was the God of Fortune, like every person who hoped for a sudden windfall.
One part was the recognition of his working capabilities; the other part, the Xiao Zhan, who became a designer after graduation and went through a year of working life before pursuing his “entertainment business dream”, was indeed very different from the idols that were cultivated from the idol machine, he came with common sense and life experiences, his past was definitely able to resonate with every man.

Xiao Zhan
05
A fan once sent this microblog – Xiao Zhan’s temperament is so good, perhaps it’s because he had been honed by his clients. Xiao Zhan himself replied her with a meme: “What do you mean?”
The experience as a contractor, plus always facing people with a smile, everyone’s first impression of Xiao Zhan was that he was a gentle person with a good temperament.
Xiao Zhan always habitually considered others’ feelings first.
Staff Xiaofan revealed that the previous assistant was not capable enough, made a lot of mistakes, but Xiao Zhan never lost his temper at him.
Yang Xu accompanied Xiao Zhan every morning in the make up room for script reading, there was once Xiao Zhan had insomnia the night before and was in a bad shape, he took the initiative to apologize to the teacher, “That day I could feel that he was actually very tired, but he still tried his best to maintain his condition to discuss his role with me, later on he came to me and said, teacher I’m sorry, my condition was bad in the morning, you took still so much effort to explain the role to me, I feel quite bad, you can come slightly later, otherwise you’ll feel bad looking at my current state. I was very touched then, I said you just rest well and don’t worry about me.”
In the idol competition, someone once questioned Xiao Zhan’s character as passive and unenthusiastic. To Xiaofan, this is because “he is always humble and polite to people he doesn’t know well, and he’ll treat everyone with a sense of propriety.”
A reporter once asked Xiao Zhan if he was a Mr. Nice Guy. Xiao Zhan replied, “I feel that those who feel like this are probably acquaintances. People who know me very well will know that I’m actually quite stubborn and quite strong-headed.”
Tumblr media
Xiao Zhan
Xiao Zhan said, he did not like to make the atmosphere uncomfortable, he hoped that everyone could all be harmonious.
But in the “Secret Garden”, Xiao Zhan will unexpectedly shed off this shell of warm smiles and display the tenacious edge in his heart.
Xiao Zhan had a microblog that held the heartfelt words between he and his fans, and some words Xiao Zhan would quietly post in the comments, and those who care for him would always see it.
Last year after “The Untamed” started filming, there were those who believed that he would rise to fame very quickly, but there were also those who mocked him for “being famous on credit”, Xiao Zhan, who had a nickname “Brother Wealthy”, quietly posted a comment on the sentiments then, “I have money, I don’t go on credit.”
In his daily life, Xiao Zhan does not like to cry, he said he has given all of his tears to his characters. Once in a while, everyone can also see that soft Xiao Zhan coming out of his protective shell. Last year during the Hangzhou concert, he looked at the hall full of his fans’ support, singing the song, “Satisfaction”, that his fans fought for him, he tried to keep in his tears.
After bursting to fame, whether Xiao Zhan will continue to display his strong or soft moments, we would not know, but Xiaofan revealed that the staff do not control Xiao Zhan’s microblog postings, the “Secret Garden” continues to be his method of communicating with his fans.
But we can be certain that Xiao Zhan is slowly learning and adjusting to the rules of the entertainment business, becoming more careful, he will sometimes tell his staff, “We need to be more careful than before.”

Xiao Zhan’s Mid Autumn greetings
06
The night after the premiere of “Jade Dynasty I”, Xiao Zhan secretly went to record a program at CCTV. That night at 8.30pm, word from the scalpers circle came out, “Xiao Zhan’s activity, those who can come to the area near the world trade center message me! Limited seats! Hurry!”
Later on, there were a lot of fans gathering at the north entrance of CCTV, and until late night at 11pm, there were still large groups of fans quietly waiting. Xiao Zhan and his staff would sometimes wonder, when would days like this ever end, but they also understood that this is an anomaly, things would slowly stabilize after a few months, and the future still depended on his works.
After completing the filming of “The Oath of Love”, Xiao Zhan will go through a period of rest and adjustment, and enter filming again at the start of next year.
“What worried him previously what that he didn’t know where his opportunities were, didn’t know which path he should take; now of course he’s firmly decided on being a good actor,” Xiaofan revealed.
Tumblr media
Xiao Zhan at the premiere press conference of “Jade Dynasty I”
His vlogs since his debut, until yesterday when he spoke to everyone online, Xiao Zhan always started with “I am still Xiao Zhan”.
After rising to fame, Xiao Zhan told himself that he needed to work harder in his life, and work hard to remind himself to stay common and still be that very initial Xiao Zhan.
However, no one would be able to foresee the possibilities of Xiao Zhan in his career, “No one restricted that I have to be this type of Xiao Zhan my whole life,” since he is someone who likes to stay on his feet, and very willing to try and change.
Entering this cruel entertainment business, Xiao Zhan still continues to be a honorable working class, lying on his sofa after knocking off; traffic comes and goes, he tells himself that he should not compare with anyone else, he should only compete against himself, and be a long distance runner.
Only passion and sincerity can withstand the long and slow passage of time.

Cosplay (historical costuming resources, how you made a replica of Enjolras’s xylophone vest, where to start if you’re new to cosplay).
Recommendations/explorations of other stories and fandoms for fans of Les Mis, both historical and totally unexpected (just why is The Untamed so popular among Les Mis fans anyway?).
Assigning Les Mis characters their Daemons/fursonas.
Analyses or discussions of Les Mis in all its forms from different perspectives and approaches.
Why high school/college/university/coffee shop AUs are so widespread in the Les Mis fandom.
The soulmate AU phenomenon.

Les Mis fan and participatory cultures, fan activities, and transformative work.
Collaborative writing and RPing.
Canon Fandom 101: Intro to the contextual history surrounding Les Mis; intro to French Romanticism, famous Romantics, Hugo’s circles; intro to historical fashion in the early nineteenth century; a historical research guide for writing Les Mis era fic, etc., etc., etc.!
