Reading journal 3 again is a reminder that... Well Ford is kinda an asshole towards Fiddleford. It's not just Stan. Like he's so focused on himself and his project and his ambition that anyone/thing else blurs out (him disregarding Fiddleford's nervousness around the gremloblin because he wants to sketch it, and when it goes sideways, him talking about the safety of the project parts BEFORE how Fiddleford was doing in his journal, multiple times. Priorities much?) and he's demeaning towards Fiddleford's own project (which ends up being wayyyy more important then Ford's discoveries)... Like damn Fiddleford, u left ur wife and young son for this guy?

I talked about this in the tags of a reblog but I need to expand on this because my brain is vibrating and it's all Hank Freaking Green's fault. This will not be coherent at all just roll with it.

I don't know if it was on purpose or not but the scene where The Fix and Pasha were flirting by exchanging fun facts did so so much for the Fix's character in my mind because like. Pasha is the only character we've seen who had a positive response to the Fix's fun facts right off the bat. (Presumably the orphans at the Home for Wayward Interests had positive responses but I'm specifically talking about on-screen reactions.)

The targets that the Fix talks to are so terrified by his facts that they just disintegrate on the spot. The DA is mildly annoyed at best by them. Even the other Prefrontal PIs are freaked out or confused by them at first. It takes a couple episodes for them to come around to his fun facts, especially after "half the bones in your body" one. It takes them some time to realize that that's just how The Fix communicates his thoughts and ideas. He uses his fun facts as a way to connect and bond with friends just as much as he uses them to intimidate his targets.

But Pasha is the first person we see and, presumably, one of the only people in The Fix's life to hear one of his facts and not only immediately accept and understand it to be a method of conversation, but to also respond with a fact of their own and have an entire conversation with The Fix in the way he feels most comfortable.

We've seen so many times that The Fix goes out of his way to try and appear less threatening or even avoid people altogether because he knows most people are scared of him because of his appearance. It takes him so long to convince the other Prefontal PIs that he's really not going to hurt Conrad (compare how quickly Dan is a part of the group and how his motives are never questioned despite how vocal he is about hating Conrad and being all too eager to turn him over to the police and/or have him murdered to how long it takes The Fix) and he doesn't even seem hurt by the idea that all these people think he would murder a child when he's clearly a very kind and loving person, especially to children.

He's just. Come to terms with the fact that everyone's first impression of him will be this big intimidating presence who enjoys hurting people. But he's not. He's just passionate about his job, like everyone else in the city. It just happens to be that his job is to keep Elias focused, which means letting go of the butterfly tails. When he's tasked with eliminating someone who doesn't seem like they need to be eliminated, he immediately stops and questions the case. As far as I can tell, he doesn't like to kill people, he doesn't do it for fun. He does it because that's his job, literally the only thing he was made to do. But he's come to accept that most people will always be afraid of him because of that job.

And then he meets Pasha, who immediately accepts his form of communication without question or confusion. Who isn't afraid or intimidated by him. Who isn't just entertaining his fun facts but is actively engaging and returning with her own. She is the first person (who isn't a child, who is the Fix's peer) that The Fix could talk to without having to explain himself. The first person who wasn't afraid or confused or annoyed by the way he expresses himself.

Like. I dunno I imagine it would almost be like moving to a foreign country as a child and not being able to speak in your native language because every time you do people are suspicious of you or annoyed that you aren't speaking the local language or just plain don't understand you, even if they're trying to be kind about it. And it's harder to explain yourself and express your thoughts in this new language but you learn and you adapt because it's the only way to survive. Then you meet someone who speaks your language. Someone who allows you to speak freely and for the first time you can actually express yourself fully and easily. And they're speaking back to you in the language you think in and for once you don't have to translate everything before you say it out loud and after you hear it. I think that would feel so freeing.

So yeah, I'm guessing that scene was supposed to be a silly goofy one-off gag that's just funny and cute but it genuinely means so much to me. Truly I don't get people who say The Fix isn't as deep or interesting as the other characters he is FACINATING to me and this isn't even touching on his relationship with Conrad or what he might be feeling after learning Ichabod was Pasha's brother. (If it gets revealed that Ichabod was one of The Fix's first hits I will lose it.)

okay, listen, i got mixed feelings about using the circlet again, I mean, I dunno what it is, might be something pretty different, but the OG circlet was kinda like… as much as i like use it for angsty purposes, it was a big part of Sun Wukong’s journey. Bro had very little self-control, was quick to violence, you could say—what’s the word…. —allegorically??-wise it was kind of something to give him a reason to hold back. After he no longer needs that, he’s completed his journey, that circlet, disappears. Because he has that self control now, he’s ascended to buddahood or however you say it. (To my understanding at least.) So whipping it out as a way to snipe the OP character—I dunno man. I feel like something different could’ve been done. Especially since, to my knowledge, that kind of… will-bending thing is reserved for Guanyin to give out, rather than, some random guy. Like you can’t just dish those out willy nilly. Who gave him that? Bro we haven’t even started the episode save me hG;LKAJWEF I just think maybe they don’t know what to do with a character as OP as Sun Wukong sometimes, they do everything they can to snipe him, so he can’t do anything, and it makes him feel pretty useless. But like?? They seem to have no problem with Mk because bro as some pretty world-shattering looking powers at this point, and they ain’t sniped him yet, aside from his crippling anxiety and terror and all that.

The theme song still hurts me. They just.. REALLY like their tilted angles. Like SO much. Like… i just need to watch this with my head tilted to the side. It’s really bad. Listen, I’m all for a tilted angle here and there for some impact, but almost every new piece of that rigged/puppet animation in the theme song is all tilted in the same direction. Okay, I will say, I do have one positive thing to say about this new animation and that is that they like, the backgrounds are still pretty decent. Like, they’re definitely missing the flair Flying Bark had, but they aren’t too far off. I will say tho, okay, I forgot to put a disclaimer I’ll add that later, but for now we’ll say a little something here. I realized after watching the first episode of this season, that the reason I fell in love with Monkie Kid, is because I fell in love with Flying Bark and their energy and their love for what they create. Even if this new studio pours they souls into this new season, I don’t think i can ever care about it the way i cared about the first four, because the reason I fell in love with it, is no longer here, the soul of it has changed, even if the writers stay the same. Like, we’ve had the writers change a bit once before, but the soul of the show stayed the same cause Flying Bark stayed the same. Now, that’s not the cause but ONCE AGAIN THOUGH, IT IS TOO EARLY TO REALLY TELL, this is just my thoughts right at this moment. I do appreciate, Monkey King’s absolute dedication to Mk, it’s interesting. I think the dynamic is interesting. Mk is just…. incredibly dedicated to monkey king, and monkey king is INCREDIBLY dedicated back. Only seems to care about how Mk’s doing. He just wants to make sure he’s okay. And that’s great. It actually works a lot better on Monkey king than it does on Pigsy. Also I'm just now noticing that I have "Empty's as Good as Clean" from the draft version of the poem instead of the published version as a section title, whoops. Pretend that's on purpose. Maybe it's a nod to the like, three hours where we thought @torbooks was speaking to us in code. That sounds like both a regular thing to happen as well as to reference, right?

Some segments have stuff I've pulled in from things I've posted here before but off the top of my head I don't think any of the sections are fully anything I've posted here. That is to say, as the draft currently stands, every section has new analyses in addition to anything pulled in from previous posts, though I'd say most of the sections are things I've haven't posted. I believe the sections that have the most pulled from "old" content are Lyctorhood Lite, Resurrection vs Waking Up, and A Cavalier by Any Other Name, which would all be under my "tlt meta" tag - I'll tag this one for ease of navigation if you want to poke around.

Struggling with Psoriasis since I am 2 years old is a different kind of hell I do not wish upon anyone not even to my enemies.

Each goddamn year when winter season hits my body decides to go BRRR in Flare.

Each summer my body partially decides ok let’s be sort of ok and let’s heal but not completely so she can’t wear short pants in summer due to deep rooted shame.

I got bullied in school being called a “contagious Monster” due to my Autoimmune Disorder.

I have trauma still from that to the point I can’t wear short pants because I’m too ashamed and scared that people would not want to be around me anymore.

I see people stare at my legs whenever I wear flowy pants in summer that when a gust of wind blows it reveals my legs and they will stare.

Im chronic in pain and agony and fatigued due to my body constantly fighting against itself against its own skin. Its 24/7 growing too much skin as if it feels pressured to change my whole skin layer not every 7 years but faster 😭

Be kind to people who have skin issues they can’t control.

Be nicer. Don’t be an ass.
