Marine biologists I need your help!!!!

I want to write a mermaid story but I need to do research in order to figure out all of the mechanics. Can anyone point me to great resources of info on underwater volcano ecosystems, and in particular the specific ways in which underwater volcanoes effect the ecosystems around them?

The Black Smoker Beast can be found roaming the spreading ridges in the depths of the oceans. Hydrothermal vents support a lot of life, so I wanted this creature to look a bit more friendly than my other geology monsters! The enormous, chimney-like structures are absolutely awe-inspiring and I hope I did them justice. I really wanted the beast to have such a chimney for a shell, and gave it the iron armour and red skin of the volcano snail, and white/red whiskers based on the tube worms that make their home at black smokers. Lots of fun again painting with acrylic inks.

Been playing the world generation game in Dwarf Fortress, never gets old.

when it's dropped off at his home in the court of fontaine, there's a simple parcel wrapped in brown butcher paper with some heft to it -- and an envelope wedged under the twine that ties the bundle together. inside the envelope, crisp and neat cursive scrawls out a letter on a single piece of paper.

While it was the entire point of an exchange…Freminet hadn’t expected to receive anything. Perhaps it was foolish of him— he had no want for anything in particular…he didn’t feel as if he deserved anything— so something wrapped up so simply felt…right.

He reads the letter first. It spoils the surprise just a tad…but he doesn’t mind. His eyes widen as they take in the words on the page and a soft, shy smile spread across his lips. The description of the gift alone made him feel warm inside, as if he needed to throw himself into the freezing depths of the sea just to cool down.

The package is opened next, and it is everything he could have hoped for. “He said I could take it apart, too…” And while tempting, he decides to save that for later. Freminet was confident in his abilities to tinker with most things…but this was unlike what they had in Fontaine. Instead he simply turns it on and waits for the clock to chime, revealing the “sea bird”.

He hadn’t even expected to receive anything at all…and yet this gift felt so…perfect. Fontaine was his home, one he’s never left before, but…perhaps he would need to visit Mondstadt. Even just to thank him properly…it was the least he could do.

one of the best gags in leverage is when the crew starts naming random cons, even better when they disagree and give us just enough information to be more confused - "it's like the cherry pie, but with lifeguards" or "the roper has a glass eye. No! It's a cue ball." bafflingly perfect, 10/10.

But a close second is when they just reference a con they did, without giving us any useful information. Now we see physical bits during like the broken wing job which is great. Or the night out jobs where they show the chaos of both nights in pieces from the other side. But I had forgotten in the 'cross my heart job' they were doing crazy crazy things. They were on the emerald isle, Sophie was pretending to be french on a topless beach, Eliot was in a shipwreck fighting three ex-brazilian combat divers with harpoons underwater, and hardison apparently faked a volcano eruption??

Satellites orbiting Earth captured a powerful undersea volcanic eruption from space on Thursday (Jan. 13).

In the South Pacific kingdom of Tonga, which is made up of over 170 islands, the (mostly) underwater volcano on the island Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai erupted, sending plumes up to 12 miles (20 kilometers) into the air, the Tonga Geological Services has shared online.

Orbiting probes have captured images of the ongoing explosive event, which follows a previous eruption in December 2021. This event is more than seven times as powerful as December's eruption and has so far sparked a tidal wave in Tonga's capital Nuku'alofa and a tsunami warning for all islands in Tonga, in addition to possible threats of acid rain.
