Apparently one time when they were filming a Billy Joel concert they sprayed the top of the piano with a matte finish so it would look better on camera and didn't tell him and he tried to do his slide across the piano move and just stopped dead from the friction.
#unclear to me if this actually happened on camera or if it was like during a rehearsal or something#but jon small and steve cohen both told this story

So since you mentioned those not used to being yandere tend to become yandere quickly/less controllably around the human, does that me that those with more innate yan tendencies are "safer" in the sense of them having been like this for awhile makes more predictable? Kinda Erikir vs Malleus where both are princes unused to being told no but Erikir was previously more normal while Malleus was at least a mid level freak and that was generally accepted? My apologies if the question is unclear.
Warnings: yandere, yandere behavior, yanderes and different levels of yandere, HAE AU,
It does mean that.
At the top of the list is the one who is already a tried and true Yandere; Malleus.
Malleus is Yandere already and has all of those Yandere tendencies due to simply being a Dragon. He knows the poisonous pull of interest and how aggressive his own yandere instincts are. He is actually the most naturally accustomed to the impact of the Human, but his instincts are already expected so most just nod and say 'yeah, that's Malleus for ya' any time he shows his yandere behavior.
Right beneath Malleus in yandere behavior is Lilia and Rook.
- Rook stalks others he views as beautiful and will often stalk Vil for the same reason. Rook stalks the Human often and follows them during day to day tasks. If he wasn't risking the flames of Malleus, he would also visit the Human while they sleep. He is infatuated with them and this feels mostly normal to him because this is how he is regularly. The primary difference is Neige is no longer top 'Most Beautiful' in Rook's book, it is now the Human.
- Lilia is used to Dragons, having grown up with Malleus' mother as a member of her Hoard before she was killed. A lot of those Dragon behaviors have rubbed off on the old Bat Fae to the point Lilia is a yandere as well, albeit a lesser version of Yandere. Lilia has also been around Humans before and has his lasting addiction as well. Now in the presence of The Human, Lilia is addicted to them but he knows the beast that is yandere levels of addiction very well. He can parlay a more muted yandere behavior thanks to his own awareness of the situation.
Following them are the naturally yandere-lite inclined, Azul, Floyd, Jade, Idia, Leona, Vil, Rollo, and Sebek.
- Azul is primarily a Humanfucker first and foremost. He LOVES Humans. Loves them. He already has a habit of keeping those he values close (Jade and Floyd) despite their willingness to turn on him. He understands his interest is intense and he assumes it is because of his obsession. The food the Human makes is also driving Azul deeper into yandere territory.
- Jade is polite and trustworthy to those he willingly follows. He isn't the kind to stalk without reason or the kind to selflessly sacrifice himself. Being around a Human- who he believes to be the peak of perfection and beauty- is changing that more distant behavior. He WANTS to spend time with them and stay around them. He is willing to turn on Azul for the Human.
- Floyd is a creature ruled by his whims and desires. What he wants, he will work to get. What bores him, he will abandon. He wants the Human. It began as an interest in Humans in general, most merfolk have Humans in mind when they imagine beauty. His interest evolved when he heard both Azul and Jade talking about the Human and how to obtain said Human for himself. Now he is just as interested in stalking the Human as Jade and Azul are.
- Idia is a fanboy at heart and he grew up hearing stories about Humans. Also a tried and true Humanfucker whose ancestor adored Humans to the point of protecting the species as a whole. He gets obsessed easily and figures that is what is happening in this instance. He stalks the Human on his many cameras in NRC.
- Leona likes things belonging to him, from objects, to land, to a group of people. He was born with royal blood and born to be a leader of some kind, his only fault is being born second. He still likes leading and dictating the actions of others. He sees his Mousey as another he can add to his Pride and also a potential permanent mate. If he can get away with taking his Mousey, he will with no hesitation.
- Vil seeks the best of the best to possibly stand by his side. The Human is absolutely the best in Vil's eyes, hence the reason he was so keen to display his feathers fully for them even so shortly after meeting them. He understands he is picky and has a tendency to grab hold of those he values. Vil's interest is piqued and he is not keen to let go any time soon, listening to all of Rook's recounting of the Human's activities in apt attention.
- Rollo obsesses over things and particularly obsesses over Humans. He adores Humans and the Righteous Judge to the point of attempting to emulate them however possible. When faced with The Human he sees the embodiment of an angel among devils but understands he has his own obsessions and desires to contend with. He doesn't see it as obsession so much as worship.
- Sebek is eager to serve those he sees as valuable and above him. Malleus and the Human are his only interests as he is sworn to protect them and desperately seeks their approval. Sebek follows both around like any good guard would and he desires nothing more than their praise. He will become distraught if unable to follow either one at any given time.
After the yandere-lite are those who are only somewhat yandere inclined, not full yandere behavior or frequent yandere behavior but could possibly be if pushed; Jamil, Ruggie, Trey, and Jack
- Jamil is a retainer and servant, trained to abide the needs of those he serves regardless of how he feels on the situation. He didn't really have much attachment or interest in others beyond what was expected of him and how he could potentially game it to his advantage. Suddenly he is being faced with someone who he feels immense interest in and he can't deny that there is a certain something about the general pull this Human has on him.
- Ruggie really only had loyalty for those who fed him or otherwise tried to take care of him. Not really overly close to any one person, even Leona, and just doing what he could to survive. He meets someone who is kind to him and feeds him whenever he asks it of them, he feels undeniable interest in the lovely Human that cares for him more than any other at the school.
- Trey knows what friendship feels like, and he knows what it feels like to have a crush on someone. Being around the Human is an entirely different for him on almost all accounts. It is like the same feeling he got when he 'hunted' one of the other kids or even Riddle when he was younger. An oddly addictive feeling that was exhilarating and left him feeling hungry for more.
- Jack is territorial to an extent, but the amount of time the Human spent as his to guard- his territory- left him feeling oddly purposeless without the Human now he is no longer charged with watching them. He wasn't really much of one for being overly territorial, since he didn't have a set territory to begin with, but even so he feels like he has lost territory the moment he is no longer one of those charged with protecting the Human.
Then the next to no-yandere behavior types; Epel, Ace, Deuce, Silver, Cater, and Che'nya
- Epel may be older than Rook, but he is still less mature than Vil or Rook. Still, he doesn't have much interest in others or much interest in being recognized by those around him, especially after being assigned to Pomefiore. But that brief encounter he had with the Human brought an oddly giddy feeling to his entire body, and the Human touching his hand made him absolutely shiver. The moment they let go of his hand, he found himself almost immaturely longing to reach out and grab back onto them if only for another moment to hold their soft flesh against his bark.
- Ace is more interested in serving himself rather than finding ways he can serve others. He looks where the current flows and lazily lets it carry him along. Why put in so much effort if he can just coast and breeze through it? He thought Trey assigning him and Deuce to watch the Human was a horrible chore at first, but now he doesn't think it is all too bad. The Human is nice- not like the rest of the students- and shows a certain kindness despite his attempt to fight them early on. He feels so lucky he had so many classes with them.
- Deuce wanted to show he can be a good student and not a ruffian like he has been in the past, so though he was displeased about the initial assignment to guard the Human, he began to see it as a way to prove himself. Even beyond proving his ability to Trey and Riddle, he can now show how helpful and useful he is keeping an eye on the Human. He likes answering their questions and finds himself almost sad when he can't sit with them during lunch or classes. Sometimes he spend the quiet hours of the night day-dreaming about the Human.
- Silver is a genuinely good spirited being, despite his somewhat aloof behavior and tendencies towards sleep. He has a good heart but sometimes isn't the most aware of his actions or behavior and the impact it has. He is bound and sworn to serve Malleus with everything in his being, yet he finds himself feeling more interest in serving Malleus' crown-jewel of the Hoard. He feels compelled to offer everything he can give to the Human, when he knows he should feel only such a need to serve for Malleus. It confuses him, but thanks to being part of the Hoard, he has much more contact with the Human than others and his Father is so good at helping him parse out his feelings for the Human.
- Cater has always been a more free-spirited type and is content to keep going as he wishes and let Trey carry him along most of the way. He wanted the brief fame and interest of others on Magicam and thus decided to take a selfie with the Human. Since then, he has found himself longing for that closeness, of his cheek pressed against the Human's and of their soft voice speaking kindly to him. The offer to let him stay in Ramshackle while Riddle was mad with him was probably one of the kindest things anyone other than Trey had honestly done for him with no expectation of being repaid.
- Che'nya is another free-spirit type who goes where he pleases despite the conflict he knows exists between RSA and NRC. He had snuck onto the grounds to see if he could get a glimpse of this interesting little Human and instead wound up saving their life in the interim. The warmth of that Human as they lay back against his chest and trust so wholly in him is precious to him. He is glad he saved the Human and longs for that feeling once more. It keeps him up at night thinking of just cuddling them against his chest.
Finally are the never were yandere or only had small hints of Yandere tendencies; Riddle, Erikír, Neige, and Kalim
- Riddle overblotted shortly after meeting the Human because they didn't want to stay in his dorm so he tried to kidnap them. He had never been focused on anything other than his education and being a good Unicorn, but the Human absolutely uprooted his priorities by just existing. The idea that they could leave him for any amount of time drove him wild because he finally found who he needed in his life, he was not keen to let them just leave.
- Erikír is used to others obsessing over him, not the other way around. The Human snubbing his affections and openly admonishing his behavior drove him to seek outside help in kidnapping the Human, knowing he was on the edge of snapping and wanting to prevent it by simply obtaining what he desired however he could. Once the Human escaped him and got to Azul- someone Erikír DESPISES and LOATHES- he snapped.
- Neige is sweet and kind to a fault, even showing the benefit of the doubt to those who are unkind to him (Erikír and Vil). He tries to respect others and give them space, his interest in being as close as possible to the Human is driving him to more obsessive types of behavior. He is finding himself longing for just another moment spent with his feathers resting against the Human's soft skin, or seeing how happy they were when he played with sweet little Grim. He cherishes those memories and craves the ability to make more memories just like them.
- Kalim is a bit of an air-head, but he genuinely means well for those around him. He loves others as purely as he can and he adores being around them to the point he even tries to befriend the less than approachable. He doesn't know what this dark jealousy is in his chest, but he does know that it feels less demanding when he is around the soft Human, and it is quickly occupying most of his thought processing. He wants to make them happy. If they asked it of him- with or without wishing- he is feeling ready to give them his very heart still-beating and freshly ripped from his chest. He doesn't know why he feels this almost suffocating need, but just providing a seemingly successful wish is making him yearn for more.

My Updated Headcanons for Seth Wilson
Since a lot of my attention is on Seth right now, I'm writing some updated headcanons for him with things I've learned over the past 4 years! I'm starting with my HCs with evidence and will write my HCs without evidence later >:3c
HEADCANONS WITH EVIDENCE:
- Seth's dog name is Link (Joseph mentioned in a livestream that's Seth the actor's dog's name so in typical MH fashion I imagine dog actor Link also plays dog character Link)
- Seth is about as tall as Brian (this isn't even really a hc but I used to draw him short so I wanted to clear that up)
- Seth did all the TTA entries that include fried images and red motifs (based off of Night Mind's theory that Tim-themed entries are black and white, Brian-themed entries are stereoscopic, and Seth-themed entries are deep-fried/red. They used these colors to both communicate who's speaking AND to let the recipient know who the message is for.)
- Seth used to be Christian but fell out of it by Season 2 (I think Seth is responsible for all the Christian iconography in the first season i.e. stigmata, ark, deluge, etc. considering neither Brian nor Tim were part of TTA yet, and he slowly abandons that faith because.......)
- ...Seth thinks he is a messiah of some kind (from TTA's "Forecast" where he says "AMIAPROPHET." [TW DEAD ANIMALS & ANIMAL CRUELTY FR PLS READ WITH CAUTION] Forecast uses footage from the USSR's "Experiments in the Revival of Organisms: 1940" in which you see a disembodied dog's lung being inflated and deflated by a machine in an effort to keep a dismembered dog's head alive. I don't think it's a coincidence TTA used a dismembered dog to refer to Seth ((or what Seth has become)) and that Seth is both alive(-ish) and has saved others from death, but only in the same fucked up corrupted way you see in the USSR's footage. Which leads me to...)
[END TW]
- ...Seth is trapped somewhere between the line of life and death and is sticking around for the unfinished business of revenge killing Alex (in the TTA entries, while many things are convoluted and unclear, one thing that is very consistent is TTA's hatred of Alex. Seth is vengeful for the death of himself, the attempted and successful murders of his friends. From TTA's "Decay" where Seth is clearly addressing Alex, he says "HE[Jay] WILL LEAD ME[Seth] TO YOU[Alex], LEAD ME TO DEATH[because his job will be done then], LEAD ME TO THE ARK[salvation and an end to his and Alex's suffering])
- Seth is the one responsible for Brian, Tim, and Jay surviving during Alex's first murder attempt (Alex couldn't bring himself to *actually* kill his friends back in 2006, so he lured them to the park and used blunt force trauma to knock them unconscious hoping leaving them for dead out in the park would be enough. Seth, however, had already caught on that something was wrong after Sarah's disappearance (I am going to write a whole thing about this eventually hehehe) and so he knew to be at the park, and after Alex left them, Seth made sure they were safe (there is also info I have here about a lake but that's worth a whole other post, send an ask if you're curious <3)
- And finally, Seth had been well ahead of everyone else in figuring out what was going on (Seth was the camera and tech guy, so it would make sense he would be the first to see what's happening on these cameras, and investigating what might be causing all of this. Seth was the one who coined the term OPERATOR. He understood Alex's actions were being influenced by this creature Seth was seeing while editing Marble Hornets. And I also think Alex knew Seth was catching onto his murder attempts, and that's why Alex took no chances and shot Seth (the first instance of Alex using a gun in the series) instead of hitting him over the head with a pipe and leaving him for the Operator like the others.)
I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK AND IF YOU GUYS HAVE ANY OF YOUR OWN THEORIES THIS WAS REALLY FUN TO WRITE AND I CANT WAIT TO MAKE PART 2 <3

First. I must say, thank you for being an ozpin apologist.
What makes you dislike the Academies so much? Other than maybe the age. Actually how does the system even work? I never cared much for the rwby side stuff (only recently watched the vid on the great war & a reading of The Infinite Man), so if it's mentioned there I wouldnt know. Is it just Combat School-> Huntsman Academy, or is there more to it?
I don't actually dislike the Academies, but a lot of people do. I see them as a neutral/morally gray sort of thing.
In general, how the Huntsman system works seems to be you start training from a young age and then you get into one of the four Academies. A lot of stuff on how it works isn't very clear? But Combat School isn't a requirement to get into the Academies (Jaune and Blake got into Beacon without going into Combat Schools), though it seems to be the most normal, possibly the safest way to train and get into the Academies.
I think an issue is how young people typically start training, which seems to be... 10-13 years old if I had to hazard a guess? Though this doesn't seem to be required either (Jaune got in with no training, and learned quickly, but this doesn't seem to be normal) I don't think, just the norm. It's also unclear if 17 years old is the required age to get into a Huntsman Academy, or if 17 is just the minimum required age with the occasional outlier (i.e. Ruby getting in at 15). I'd say it's more likely 17 is just the minimum required age, since it'd be kinda stupid to not allow people to join based on age lol.
Its also unclear to me if getting into the Huntsman Academies is the ONLY way to become a Hunter. Overall I'd say the Academies are comparable to college, with it being the norm to train from a young age and then get into one of the 4 Academies at 17 at the youngest.
The Academies, to me, also seem to be pretty safe for what they do. No required waivers to get in (waivers, iirc, being legal documents to keep an organization or person from being sued), lots of safety measurements (the cameras in the Emerald Forest and the likelihood of the teachers intervening during initiation and training missions), plus legal processes (Ozpin interviewing teams CVFY and RWBY individually for example, and iirc says that certain things have to happen and if things go wrong he and Glynda are held responsible, etc). It's definitely not foolproof, given the plotline of Hazel's sister, Gretchen, dying during a training mission, but these moments of things going wrong are treated as unusual.
In my opinion, the Academies are definitely necessary on paper. The actual system itself is flawed, and each Academy has their own separate issues given they work independently, but overall the Huntsman Academies aren't as evil as people make them out to be. People are going to have to learn to fight Grimm, considering they're an existential threat, and it was already common to learn how to fight them before; the Academies just centralize the learning and makes it safer to do so, and also offers the necessary resources to learn and make weapons. It's safe to assume that before it was learn to fight Grimm or die, for the most part.
The Academies also help to make non-huntsmen feel safer, since Hunters can also be hired help, and there's lots of Hunters being pumped out every year. People can be protected, or they can learn to fight, where that might not've been an option before.
The Academies DO have flaws, don't get me wrong, but I believe those flaws tend to be intrinsic to the kingdoms themselves rather than always being a flaw of the entire system itself. The episode that reveals Cinders backstory is criticizing Atlas itself, since Rhodes is, presumably, an Atlesian Huntsman and pressures her not to fight her literal slave owners (and this episode is in the Atlas arc, which basically repeats "Atlas fucking sucks" to you a billion different times). Not only that, but Atlas Academy is also pretty tied to the Atlas military, and also doesn't typically let faunus in. These are pretty uniquely Atlas issues, given the other kingdoms don't have militaries and the other kingdoms also let in faunus, including the very anti-faunus kingdom of Mistral.
So the Academies don't all share the same issues, which is pretty clear since Beacon is seemingly the most progressive of the Academies (though still deals with anti-faunus bullying, but Cardin and his team are the only examples and were only seen in v1, so we don't know how common that is either). The criticisms of the Academies are all very region-based so far, and that's the legitimate criticisms (I'm still not sure where people got the impression that students regularly die in the Academies, since there's nothing even implying that).
Basically my opinions of the Academies are that they're more or less necessary, though they do have problems that vary from Academy to Academy (forgot to mention- Shade seems very ableist and strength-based, which is a very Vacuo-unique issue that the other Academies don't deal with). I'd argue the biggest issues lie with the Combat Schools, given how young students start training, though the Combat Schools aren't required.
Otherwise, the Academies lie in a gray area. The people on Remnant don't live like we do; they're in a perpetually post-apocalyptic world with monsters as an existential and very real threat. Even if you don't have any Huntsman relatives, it's still very likely you've either lost someone to the Grimm, or know someone who did. They're a constant threat unless you live a very privileged life, and even then, they can still be a threat. Fighting is a very normal and necessary thing in the world of Remnant, and is pretty much baked into the world's cultures. Civilization being destroyed is a very real threat, and a constant one, and the population on Remnant is much lower than here, IRL. So something like the Academies are genuinely necessary there, whereas it wouldn't be here.
Its a very complicated and nuanced thing lol. People have a hard time really believing that the Academies lie in a gray area, rather than being completely 100% evil and unnecessary. They're very necessary, and have flaws. The only way you can believe they aren't necessary is if you think the Grimm are somehow secretly Not That Bad. Dunno, it's complicated lol.
#felix (host)#rwby#rwby rambles#rwby analysis#rwby meta#beacon academy#shade academy#fr tho the Academies are NOT as bad as ppl make em out to be#not all of them anyways#and the issues they do deal with are systemic#systemic problems are hard af to get rid of#and the Academies are at most like. 80 years old#at most!!#thats a really really short timeframe!#systemic issues don't just disappear like that#its more likely the Academies are like. 60-70 years old#again. short ass time frame#America has had longer to get rid of its own issues and we've only gotten worse tbh#and we don't have to deal with shit like the Grimm#so its not surprising the Academies still have issues esp when the kingdoms themselves still deal with those issues#its surprising how progressive Beacon is!#Vale as a whole is pretty progressive really#in comparison to other kingdoms at least#no thanks to Oz i don't doubt tbh#this IS the guy who singlehandedly abolished monarchies and militaries across the world#regardless it's still surprising Beacon/Vale is the one with the least amount of issues#given the timeframe#idk its just. gestures. ppl overestimate a lot#asks#melancholydonuts

Rewatching PotO (2004) in 2024
~ A needless commentary. Please note that I first watched this movie seven years ago, in 2017. ~
I like the Wizard of Oz thing they do by having the prologue scene in black and white.
Is the Madam Giry in the prologue supposed to be Meg or her mother, it is unclear.
The costumes are decidedly not bad for a piece of historical fiction made in the early 2000’s.
I adore the chaos and attention to detail of the establishing shots of the Opera Populaire during a rehearsal.
All the costumes in this movie are good except for Christine’s during Point of No Return, like what the fuck was that.
I like that Raoul is introduced in person during the rehearsal scene and that Christine gives us some background on their relationship. Her saying they were childhood sweethearts makes the set up of their love story stronger, like they both obviously still harbored feelings for each other during the interim of their childhood and the events of PotO. In the stage production this is less obvious.
Was it really necessary to have the new managers make lecherous comments about Meg and Christine?
Emmy Rossum is very stiff during Think of Me, in contrast to the scene of her dancing just prior where she is very expressive. I’m not sure what to make of this, it’s only an observation. I want her earrings from this scene though.
The Phantom’s lack of a hat makes his head look small and Gerard Butler does not have a small head.
You can tell that the theatre they are in isn’t actually very big.
The dubbing does not sync well to the mouths of the actors.
Meg Giry is adorable.
Christine’s dress during Think of Me looks suspiciously like a wedding dress.
How can you not ship Christine and Raoul in this movie? They’re so cute together.
Not the slow-mo of the candles blowing out.
The arms holding the candelabra are weird, like icky weird, and remind me of the Haunted Mansion.
I do have to admit that Gerard Butler in that cape is really something, he does look good as the Phantom, even without the hat during Phantom of the Opera. I appreciate the electric guitar during that scene too.
It’s not subtle that they used the same archway more than once. And what happens to the horse, where did he go?
Erik’s lair really gives Pirates of the Caribbean ride vibes.
Was the dramatic cape removal necessary?
Why does he just leave her sitting in the boat?
RAMIN KARIMLOO WAS GUSTAVE DAAÉ?!?!!!! And I was supposed to find about this on my own?!?!
Gerard Butler as the Phantom is peak early 2000’s pathetic sad boy.
The dubbing continues to be bad which really impedes the impact of Music of the Night. The blocking isn’t bad though so I’ll focus on that.
Bro, not the mannequin! And the way he sets her in the swan? Hilariously creepy.
The scene of Meg discovering the passage behind the mirror is so interesting to me. What a great piece of character exploration! I wonder how much this version of Meg knows about the Phantom and inner workings of the opera house, surely she isn’t blind to her mother’s association with the Opera Ghost.
Madam Giry demonstrating the use of lasso was a girl boss moment.
How on earth did he not feel Christine prying at the mask?
I wish they would’ve used more drastic makeup and prosthesis for the Phantom’s deformity. Or at least let the camera focus on it for a tiny bit longer. We get basically nothing of it in this scene.
I forgot that they cut back to the black and white of the prologue (a continuation of it).
Just how much is 20,000 francs in 1870 worth today?
Those skull wax seals are cool.
Was the mooning of Carlotta necessary? Funny though
Minnie Driver is hilarious. The Prima Donna scene is fantastic.
Erik doing dastardly deeds in his fancy clothes is iconique.
Where is the musical cue for “Did I not instruct that Box Five was to be kept empty?”?! It sounds like an announcement at a train station!
Where on earth was Buquet to have seen the Phantom standing near the chandelier?
Only in the movies does cutting back and forth between the ballet from act three and the Phantom chasing Buquet around the flies really work. It makes the scene much more tense but is also amusing because we seen the Phantom doing stunts in his fancy clothes.
They really wanted to make this into a movie musical but did a poor job of integrating the music into the action of the movie.
I love the set design in this movie if nothing else.
If anything Gerard Butler’s Phantom has the least awful face of any rendition of the Phantom.
I can’t imagine this movie being made today, it would be an auto tune nightmare.
What is it about well-dressed pathetic sad boys of the early 2000’s variety?
You can’t fault Gerard Butler’s acting when he cries into the rose.
I take it back, why was the dramatic run so popular? It looks ridiculous.
I love Christine’s dress for the Masquerade scene. And Raoul looks dashing too.
The silver and gold fan choreography is neat. I also especially appreciate that only Christine and the Phantom are wearing shades of red.
Where are the fics of the Phantom and Madam Giry as children? That’s the story I want to hear.
Raoul sleeping, obviously on guard, outside the ballet dormitories is so endearing.
Showing that the Phantom knocks out the guard and is the one to take Christine to the graveyard closes the plot hole about how he knew she would go there. And it demonstrated just how obsessive he is about her.
I don’t know a lot about how funerary monuments worked in the 1800’s but how could the Daaé’s afford such a mausoleum?
The reprise of Angel of Music was very good. Excellent use of lighting.
The Phantom jumping down from the roof of the mausoleum is rather ruined by the fact his cape flipped over his head and he had to put it right.
The fight scene wasn’t the most coherent but it wasn’t outrageous either. I like the skull shaped guard on the Phantom’s sword.
Erik saying “let it be war upon you both” is undercut by the fact he didn’t say that it would be war between him and the managers earlier.
They cut back to Raoul coming up with his plan to ensnare the Phantom after the scene in the cemetery. I think it’s narratively out of place given the events of the scene of the graveyard. Christine’s lament, Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, which both about her missing her father and about gathering the courage to bid goodbye to her angel of music. Which Christine felt she had to do because of the plan Raoul came up with.
Christine’s protestations about Raoul’s plan being spoken rather than sung works well in my opinion. But there’s a certain angst to how hysterical Christine sounds in the stage production.
Seriously, the Don Juan costume for Christine sucks.
The reveal in the stage production was better. They mention the hood of cloak in the song, the hood hides the fact that it’s so obviously not Piangi, anyone with eyes would’ve been able to see it wasn’t the same guy.
The background dancers, lol.
All the shots cutting to Madam Giry lowkey make it seem like she was secretly in love with the Phantom.
They could’ve made Point of No Return more tense.
Why does the Phantom’s wig look so bad before Christine pulls off his mask?
Now his disfigurement actually looks appropriate.
Madam Giry literally brought him to the opera house and he went willingly, the Phantom calling it a prison isn’t super accurate.
Erik has too much hair in this version. But props to Gerard Butler for killing it in the final scene in the Phantom’s Lair.
I like the detail that the cut on Raoul’s arm starts bleeding again due to all the action. It looks weirdly real though so maybe it was unintentional. I have not seen any behind the scenes footage to confirm this.
Why is Meg at the forefront of the mob? Why was she so interested in the mask? Is it supposed to be a hint about Love Never Dies? There is too much focus on Meg and Madam Giry’s involvement with the Phantom to just be as it is explained.
I adore the implication of the rose at Christine’s grave. Perhaps the most emotionally impactful moment in the whole movie.
7/10
Love the costumes and the aesthetics. The final scene at Christine’s grave was a very nice extra bit. Not as good as the stage production but enjoyable. The acting seemed a bit stiff and underwhelming but lots of movies from the early 2000’s were. I prefer the 25th anniversary performance but who doesn’t?
I can’t speak to how it compares to the book because I haven’t read it (I will sometime)

Hey, here's a fun question: Which lines are sung visually/directly by the characters in each MILGRAM MV?
T1:
Weakness: Haruka's 'Ah, ah, ah's' are also shown in video form in the chorus. He definitely does have that manner of laughing in canon, but I'm not sure there's much to say about it. He has every disease
Umbilical: No lines are sung/said. This might resemble Yuno's whole 'innocent girl with little agency' thing that people saw her as at first. She doesn't even get to say anything in her own story.
Bring It On: Nope. No lines sung/said. Like with Yuno, I think this might be taking away from Fuuta's agency on purpose. To portray him as more of a follower that got out of hand instead of the group leader. Though this may also be a budgetary issue, as Milgram's animation was pretty limited at first, they couldn't afford much lipsync animation.
After Pain: Arguably, her part with holding on to Rei's sleeve can be lip-read as 'I'm sorry/gomenasai' which would sync up with 'gomen' in her lyrics, though I think it's supposed to be more of a parallel than a direct spoken line. It's still a very fun detail that I don't see people talk about that much!
Throw Down: No spoken lines. This time, I think it's just Shidou putting up that barrier between the audience and what actually happened with his backstory, making it more vague and unclear.
TIHTBILWY: "I'm sorry!" In the scene where Mahiru looks at the camera, and maybe also her monologue on the phone? The lipsync doesn't quite match up, but it's possible. The fact that the only proper thing she says is "I'm sorry" hurts, though: She really does know she did something horrible and wants to atone for it, but doesn't know how.
half: "The curse of reuniting with you puts a dagger in my heart; I imagined you saying "See you" was the same as "It's over"; Only if your heart would change, but that's not possible; Please tell me what I should do, feelings shrouded in lies will float and away and disappear" (essentially: the entire chorus). It's notable how this is all sung during Kazui's performance on stage, once while wearing his mask, once without.
Magic: "See?" (From 'See, isn't it a great thing?') and "God/Wise One" ("Kami-sama" from 'Dear Wise One, is this ok?'). To me, the 'See?' is directed at herself, convincing herself that the things that happened to her were actually good. The whole song is just Amane trying to justify all the horrible things she went through.. And the visual cue just makes that more obvious :(.
MeMe: "Why am I here? It must be a mistake, right? Take a good look at me" and "Never forgive" (from "I will NEVER forgive you if this is happening to me even though I'm right"). First one is pretty self-explanatory, I feel like the second one has some implications about Mikoto's judgment of other people, mayhaps.
HARROW: No spoken lines! Due to the lines being more general in establishing Kotoko's goals and not really towards any one person in particular, it might have been awkward to fit a speech segment into the video. So. Hmm.
T2
All-Knowing and All-Agony: No lines are sung directly except for mayyybe an "Ah" in the middle. I think they might be trying to highlight Haruka's tendency to Ah, eh, hm, in his speech mannerisms, with these being his only visually spoken lines.
Tear Drop: "Shut up" (from "Just shut it, will you? You know it all") and "So nauseating... So creepy... will you please disappear". These are very clearly said to a person in particular; though also possibly just her clients that infantilize her in general. Love that these lines get emphasis considering Yuno's character.
Backdraft: "So worthless!/What a load of crap!" and "Come up to the ring and face me!". Very much still Fuuta's tough guy act talking to the people that judged him.
It's Not My Fault: "We are just the same" (from "I am doing this just because I'm bored, we are just the same" and "I'm always so pitiable!" (Translated as "I'm always the drama queen" but this sucks as a translation so.. lol). Aimed at Rei, mayhaps? The first line carries some very interesting implications with it. Wasn't here for the drop of this MV so it's probably already been analyzed to death..
Triage: "I want to be forgiven, I want to live!" Ohh Shidou.. be careful with that developing savior complex. Basically Triage's whole message summed up into two lines.
I Love You: Just a simple sigh. She's too exhausted to say anything more than that.
Cat: "Phew, wow, I'm drunk.. Hey, if I said I liked you, what would you do?" and arguably him breathing out smoke/sighing at the end. Infamous confession scene. IMO, this is still him confessing his feelings for his friend, which leads to that insane downwards spiral that ruins his life.
The Purge March: No lines spoken. Due to most of the MV taking place before the murder but the lyrics being about her motivation for murder... Yeah, it's natural no lyrics are visually said. (Since they also want to keep her actual murder scene vague).
That's all we've got so far!! Hope you enjoyed :-) if you have any thoughts feel free to add on!

I'm actually losing my mind. I genuinely don't know what to think about anything anymore!
So...Eclipse seems to remember, or at least KNOW, what happened to 'himself', yet he also seems to be working with a blank slate. He seems to know how he was before, and he's more or less just trying to go along with that without any other insight or information. He certainly seems a lot more like early-era Eclipse; he has those same energy levels and the same unclear goal. He doesn't know why he was brought back, and he apparently doesn't know WHO brought him back. It's also interesting that he woke up in the orange hallway between the theater and Sun and Moon's room. My knee-jerk reaction was that this was indicating that he was put into Solar, but then I remembered that that couldn't be possible. Solar was with Moon during the phone call where Eclipse found Ruin. So...what does this mean? Why is that where he came to consciousness?
Then, there's the continuously more confusing case of Ruin. I keep talking myself in circles trying to figure out what's going on with him. I think, "Why would he keep up the act around Eclipse? Why wouldn't he just let Eclipse in on whatever his plan is? Maybe he's actually being sincere." Then I think, "Maybe he knows how bad Eclipses usually are at acting and doesn't want to take the risk." Let me tell y'all, I started freaking out when the first thing Eclipse asked was, "Who are you?" Like, I really thought we might finally be getting some semi-cured Ruin confirmation; I thought the path Eclipse was going with that was like, 'You're not the one I met before. Who are you?' Or, 'You told me there was another one, but you may just be keeping the act up for some reason. Which is it?' Sadly, that's NOT where this went, and instead Eclipse now has his sights set on the creator.
That's yet ANOTHER thing. The reasoning that Ruin gave made sense, but I genuinely cannot tell if he was being genuine or just trying to create a distraction of his own. I think my frustration here is simply caused by the fact that I still don't know that I can trust anything Ruin says or does. If we had REAL confirmation that he actually is cured, that would be great! I could completely believe him and sympathize! But instead, I can't feel bad without having doubts pouring through my brain. Even if we had stuck to his pov for a bit longer after Eclipse left him alone, I still don't know if I could trust what we would have seen because we KNOW he's aware of the cameras within the fourth wall! He knows he's always being watched by someone. Why can't this torment just end already?! Just give us an actual answer!

SS Finals - Crown: Chapter 19
Location: SS Finals Live Stage Characters: Tetora, Subaru, Hokuto, Chiaki, Madara, Hiiro, Aira & Rinne

Rinne: “Gyahahahaha ☆ Hello everyone watching from home! Look, it’s your childhood bestie, who’s still being an idol, Rinne Amagi!”
“Are ya enjoying this year’s ‘SS’? No? Alright, then!”
“But of course ya ain’t! There’s someone out there who’s trying to ruin the biggest festival in the idol industry – ‘SS’! They’re the root of all evil!”
“No one’s gonna be able to greet the New Year with a smile unless he’s outta the picture!”
Madara: …What are you trying to do?
Chiaki: Umm, Amagi-senpa–
Rinne: “Shut ya trap, Bastard-Who-Delivers-a-Deadly-Blow-For-a-Job! You’re supposed to be on the side of justice! Takes one to know one – it ain’t ya turn right now!”
Chiaki: Uh, it is our turn, though.
Tetora: …Are you saying “Crazy:B” will represent the “White Team” instead of “Double Face” for the fourth round?
Madara: Uh, I haven’t heard anything about that, so I can’t just say yes.
Rinne: “I ain’t listening to what ya gotta say!”
“But yeah, how about we put your battle on hold and let me take the stage? That’s what I thought about doing…”
“But the people watching would just find that boring, huh.”
“It’s supposed to be an enjoyable and noisy festival – it won’t be fun just watching me having a grand old time, right?”
“Let’s switch things up. Hey, “Double Face”, could ya let me be in the fourth round instead?”
Madara: Hm? I’m not exactly willing to accept the request of someone whose intentions are unclear. Besides, that would mean going against what’s written in the “oracle”.
The representative for the fourth round is us, “Double Face”. That’s what the “oracle” said, right?
Rinne: “Then gimme that ‘oracle’! I’ll cross it out and write something new on top of it!”
“It’s not like the ‘oracle’ is law – there’s no reason for ya to follow it to a T, right?”
Madara: I suppose that’s true. The other units and I won’t be happy with that. We only did what was written on it because it would also benefit us, after all.
Rinne: “Gyahaha! And I’m here saying that we should break that premise!”
Hiiro: Nii-san! What are you doing!? Explain yourself!
Aira: Hey, the camera’s are on so don’t just get on stage, Hiro-kun! You’re gonna get yourself involved! Help me stop him, Akehoshi-senpai!
Subaru: Huh, me? How come? I’m actually pretty excited since I can’t tell what’s gonna happen…☆
Aira: Oh, geez! Each and every single one of you ES people are just…!
Subaru: Besides, I don’t think Rinne-senpai would do anything bad this time.
He talked to us earlier and gave us some information.
But I think he’s doing this to make sure his message is heard all over the world.
If that’s the case, then we should leave him alone. It might be something good for us.
Aira: ……? ……?
Hiiro: What do you mean, Subaru-senpai?
Subaru: Well, just watch. I’m jealous – that’s supposed to originally be our job, right?
Hokuto: Hmph. The title of the “previous ‘SS’ champions” is just a hindrance, and it’s stopping us from doing our usual thing during this year’s “SS”. That’s what I also realised during Hokkaido.
We have something we’re ashamed about, but this time, we’ll pass the baton on to the “arrogant rookies”.
Aira: No no, stop saying those confusing things and stop him! I thought Rinne-senpai finally turned over a new leaf, but if he does something again then–
Hiiro: Indeed. Nii-san has changed just a bit. That destructive air he had during the summer is gone right now.
Should I believe in him and watch? I’m worried, though…
Rinne: “You betcha. Just sit back and see how cool ya big bro can be ♪”
“No. Neither of you guys have taken to the stage yet, so any one of ya will do – ‘Trickstar’, ‘ALKALOID’...”
“Come on up here instead of ‘RYUUSEITAI’.”
“Let’s create a legend or make history or whatever as we sing and dance. How ‘bout it?”
Hokuto: Then, we’ll take you up on that offer.
Subaru: Hold your horses, Hokke~ Let’s let “ALKALOID” take this.
If we’re following the plan and “RYUUSEITAI” will be fighting against “Double Face”, then the “White Team” will just have “Eden” and “Knights” left.
The “General Leaders” will obviously battle it out last, so the unit that’s left by process of elimination is “Knights”.
It’d be pretty sad to see “Knights” – one of ES’ Big Three – go against newbies, right? As their seniors, the previous “SS” winners…
And as rivals of “Knights”, let’s take them on instead. “Crazy:B” is also a new unit, so let’s have “ALKALOID” fight them since they’re of the same standing.
Hokuto: Hmm. Now that you mention it, I think that would be the smartest decision. It was written in the “oracle” that “ALKALOID” would fight “Crazy:B” too.
Rinne Amagi tends to do whatever he wants, but he might go easy on his opponent if it’s his own brother.
Hiiro: Hehe. Nii-san isn’t that sort of person, though.
Aira: Hey, can you not decide that all on your own? Are you ignoring what we have to say!? You two are always like this!
Hokuto: Do you have a problem with that?
Aira: Obviously! I–I’m not ready to get up on stage, though…!
Rinne: “Gyahaha. Well, chat as much as ya want – Lil’ rookie Rinne here will fill in for ya.”

wtf is going on between dream and quackity??? I looked it up but I'm seeing so many different opinions from people 😓 what's going on and will I have to pick sides? I'm just so confused by this whole thing 😭
oh anon what rock have you been living under (and can you take me there)
this got kind of long bc a lot has happened and it's been kind of slowly building up over a month, and i kind of used this as an excuse to do something i've been wanting to do and make a rough timeline of events, so hope you don't mind the incredibly long post. it has certainly been An April (/neg) around here.
march 10th- quackity announces the big project he’s been teasing, the qsmp, a minecraft server with both spanish and english creators. dream puts out a priv tweet the same day saying he’s been working on something similar to collaborate with worldwide creators and he’s mentioning it bc he doesn’t want people to be worried about copying once it’s announced (this is foreshadowing)
april 2nd- dream announces the united smp and its accompanying live translation mod with a video and a tweet. small note here that the video was originally supposed to be an april fools video at first, which is why the international creators are skinned as the different manhunt members, but was delayed by a day bc editing took longer than expected. discourse starts near immediately as drantis are quick to accuse dream of copying q's idea of a multi language server
april 3rd- quackity announces that a new live translation mod is being implemented in the qsmp. copying accusations are now coming from both sides. note that it has been 1 day since the usmp announcement, so the chance that q actually developed a mod in that time is basically zero. also note that dream said he’d been working on the usmp prior to knowledge of qsmp’s mod being public. this is confirmed by snapchats dream posted later this month of camera roll screenshots of photos of a whiteboard with brainstorming for the usmp with the date march 8th visible, which is prior to the qsmp announcement. the point i’m trying to make here is that the most likely explanation is that it's a big damn coincidence
on this day there was also a brief copypasta started by george and sapnap joking about the similarities between the two servers (the first multilingual smp with live translation). george goes live with the smp from his copypasta tweet (slutsmp) and several ccs join throughout (during the stream its implied he basically @/everyone-ed the entire dsmp discord). he makes several shady comments but at this point its unclear if hes memeing quackity, the fans making drama out of the situation, or both
kind of skipping over a few weeks here bc its a lot of the same Nothingness but basically: discourse continues to spiral, egged on by the fact that dream has continued interacting with/mentioning quackity but is met with radio silence from the other side. there are a few clarifications from dream on twitter during this period that the qsmp and usmp are separate concepts and that he does not hold any ill will towards q
april 24th- while already somewhat assumed after quackity announced the qsmp's translation mod, quackity officially announces that the qsmp will be adding worldwide creators
april 27th- dream drops this thread which i highly recommend reading for yourself bc it gives a lot of context. tldr: quackity hasn't responded to dream despite multiple attempts to reach out, from both dream and other mutual friends. dream doesn't know what's going on with him but doesn't want any more hate to build between their two fanbases. he is explaining this because he feels he should explain his motives/give context as hate has built up to the point of irl threats to himself and his family's safety. he says that he is changing the concept of usmp slightly so there is less competition between the 2 servers and reiterates that he doesn't want any hate sent to quackity and that he's proud of all he's done
radio silence from quackity for this whole day, and then:
april 28th- quackity goes live on twitch. he says nothing about it and announces the new brazilian creators for the qsmp
and that's... kind of where we're at? q has continued being active on qsmp and social media and has said nothing, mutual friends are continuing to interact with quackity, and we've kind of reached a weird stalemate.
there's also some small bits of context that are more on the fandom side of things as to why a lot of ppl aren't supporting quackity anymore, so i'll (semi-briefly) try to explain those here:
during all this a mod on the qsmp was (rightfully) called out for including a mob that portrayed incredibly racist stereotypes of indigenous people. q did eventually remove the mod after public pressure but his apology/explanation of the situation was incredibly lackluster, and he didn't address any of the server members who made racist comments about the mob or after the mod's removal. this soured a lot of people's opinion of quackity/the qsmp in general.
second thing is just general vitriol between the two fandoms. qsmp fans/quackity solos were already being nasty at the start of the month, and that only built as the month continued. i saw at least one instance of a fan supposedly being doxxed and having someone show up to their house over the drama, and heard of ppl having gore/photos of self harm sent to their dms (so y'know. classic toxic twitter fandom bullshit). i will say that the toxicity has recently somewhat risen on the dteam side of things as well, with people being a lot quicker to hate on ccs still interacting with quackity and generally being super neg abt q (tho i can't act like some of that anger isn't slightly warranted. hell, i've been super angry over this and i used to be a super big fan of quackity). a lot of people are disappointed in q's silence over this whole issue and believe that it is quackity's responsibility to at least publicly denounce the doxxing/threats being made by fans in defense of him, especially as it's something that dream has already done, both prior to this situation and during.
as far as "picking sides" goes... a lot of ppl here on dtblr have been doomposting for a while, and at this point quackity is basically in no one's good books. at the same time, most of the rational people i follow have been acknowledging the nuance of the situation, and that a lot of mutual friends may be caught in the middle right now (shit dude, you're talking to a foolish main and that dude's still on quackity's damn server). there's also the matter of dream basically asking people to stop fighting, which at this point i am very inclined to agree with due to the levels of discourse and toxicity that we've already gone through, plus i think it's a better alternative than the community self-cannibalizing any time someone mentions quackity
ultimately it's up to you to decide what you want to do with this info and how much you want to remove yourself/unstan ccs, but know you aren't alone if you're sad/disappointed about how this whole thing has panned out 🫂 it has certainly been quite the Month around here
#sorry this took so long to get to. i had class for 5 hrs and then when i got back i was tired & didnt wanna think abt discourse for a bit#i could go back and add links to tweets and such if anyone wants but i think this is mostly accurate#feel free to add on if there's anything you think i missed or could be helpful#and anon i hope ur doing well. also sorry for making u read all that <3#asks#anon#discourse#long post#its under a readmore but still. fair warning. long post#ALSO this is all shit we already know if this starts up arguing again im gonna explode into a million pieces no one start shit#i dont think anyone will but i just get nervous whenever i discourse post bc im v nonconfrontational and dont wanna start more arguments#everyone b niceys okay....

#SO SO TRUE‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ #also i have a meta post that ive never written out so might as well throw the summary in here #tldr i dont think all of the memories we see in ep11 are true #the tessla part is of course true but we see it from all kinds of tilted camera angles which usually signals that something is off/wrong #but we see and hear that knives in ep11 is *memory manipulating*. there are the obvious ones of course like when ww turns into knives #but basically. given how meticulously detail focused studio orange is. how they use a manga panel as reference for everything. #i find it strange and suspicious how ooc child knives is #so. i dont believe nai was reading the bible actually. i dont believe hes suddenly the stereotypical evil twin from birth in tristamp. #i think the only reliable depictions of child nai are from vash's pov: that he loved cowboy movies. that he was grumpy but loving #(towards both vash and rem) #that they laughed together and he offered to save rem #but it seems oddly out of place that they would change child knives that much and since we only see more details in ep11 i dont trust those #and i think it would be a very good twist if when vash regains his memories in stargaze the memories knives shown crumble and turn into #what really happened #the bible back to world history. maybe even vash and nai changing places and showing how *nai* was the hopeful one at the start #i think thats such a pivotal point of his arc that it wouldnt be right to change it #and like. knives in his mindset reminds me of my grandma and how she sees my mum and BY GOD. she can alter her lived memories #so wether knives lied or made himself believe those were how things actually happened is unclear to me #but child knives in stampede ep11 acts like how dramatic emo kids remember their childhood. how they were always edgy cool and Knew #when in reality. no they aint lmao #(i hope this is coherent im typing this out during my lunchbreak while laying on a couch (hah) mildly cramping lol) - @vero-niche
You are so, so, so right and you should say it. I've seen a lot of people dunking on Tristamp lately for character arcs and themes that haven't finished their arc yet--and I'd argue some things are definitely warped to the point that it's going to be a shock when we learn the truth, like the full story about what happened with Tesla, or how the twins met Conrad before the crash (since when Knives confronted him as a kid, he knew him). And I really agree that Tristamp baby Nai is largely warped perspective--though tbh I think a lot of it is from Vash's POV, especially in the eps before 11. 👀 That's really neither here nor there though because they're both delusional because we still have so much story left to go and find out! Orange has shown the narrative is unreliable in the most satisfying and delicious ways and I can't wait to see where it takes us.
Also the idea that Nai reading the bible isn't real but symbolic... holy fucking shit that is so big-brained
I love how unreliable the narrative is in Tristamp
We’re told something one episode–only to have it contradicted or expanded upon in new, thoughtful ways constantly. There are a lot of examples, but the two that instantly pop into mind are:
1. In the first flashbacks, to right after the ships landed. We see Nai and Vash shouting at each other, and first all we see is Nai laughing maniacally as he accuses Vash of being an accomplice–but Nai’s obviously a little unhinged, we don’t trust him. Then after a few episodes, Nai adds in a line that Vash helped him with the access codes. In that same exact scene! That changes things!!! It adds validity to Vash being his accomplice, despite what we’ve learned about Vash as a person.
2. Also in flashbacks, when Vash runs from Home to confront Knives, he comes across him standing there in the bowels of July, sinister, powerful. In control. Malicious as ever. But then that episode ends, and at the very beginning of the next episode, we watch Nai distressed. We watch him crumple to the ground, stricken, useless, and powerless to save his sisters. And, from his perspective, that’s when Vash walks in the room. It reframes the entire moment.
TL;DR: Orange is an unreliable narrator, they know they’re an unreliable narrator, and in a show so tragically about humanity, they’ve made it true to us in one of the most upsetting ways possible: there’s not only one story or right way to perceive a situation. Each of us brings our own baggage and truths, which makes truth a moot point in the end.

Blog Assignment #1 - Get Out
Out of all the works we've explored, The Comet and the movie Son of Ingagi were the most challenging for me to grasp. Starting with The Comet, I struggled to follow what was happening at the beginning. The way it was written felt a bit unclear, and I found myself asking questions like, “Why is the character being sent to the basement?” and trying to make sense of it all. It wasn’t until the professor read an excerpt during class that things started to click. Later, in my discussion, my TA broke it down further, and that helped me gain a much better understanding of the story.
What really stood out to me was the ending. I felt heartbroken when Julia’s father came to rescue her, and Jim was immediately met with prejudice. Even after such a catastrophic event, skin color remained a defining factor, which is so disheartening. The story really drives home how deeply ingrained racism is, even when survival should take priority over societal systems and prejudices.
As for Son of Ingagi, I had mixed feelings. While I appreciate its significance as one of the first Black horror films, I didn’t feel like the movie had a real climax. My emotions stayed flat throughout, and honestly, I felt bored at times. It seemed like many scenes dragged on unnecessarily. For example, when a character was done speaking, the camera would linger on them even after they had nothing else to do. I kept thinking, “This could’ve been cut out.”
That being said, I liked how the couple received the money at the end—it felt like a well-deserved reward after everything they’d been through. One thing I also noticed was how differently violence was portrayed. In Son of Ingagi, they didn’t show violent acts on screen. Instead, they focused on the aftermath, like a bit of blood here and there. Compared to modern films, which are much more graphic and explicit, it felt tame. While I understand the subtler approach of the time, I think showing the actual violence adds realism and makes it clearer what’s happening. It also gives directors and producers more room to bring their vision to life without leaving too much to interpretation.
Even though I have critiques of both works, I still see their importance and value. I’m looking forward to what we’ll watch and read next, and I’m excited to keep exploring how these pieces have shaped the genre over time.

I found your speculation of Satan having a crush on mc from the get go verry interesting. I was wondering if you have any speculations around the other boys? Like in what order do you think the boys fell for mc? Any specific points in the story that you think are the "fall for mc" moments for them?
(HFSDHFSD LISTEN I’ve had this in my drafts for AGES and I’m so sorry I’m just now getting to actually posting it ;w; )
I’m MORE than happy to speculate on this! For the brothers, at least, because I haven’t read up to the parts where the other characters show notable interest in you
Putting most of this under a cut for long post and spoilers, but the tl;dr (with some mysterious elements to catch your interest heheheh) is that I believe the brothers “fall for MC” in this order:
1. Satan 2. Mammon 3. (Lucifer) 4. (Levi) 3. Belphie 4. Beel 4. Levi 4. Lucifer 7. Asmo
That must look a little weird; I hope I’ve piqued your interest!
Now, what am I defining as falling for MC? For consistency, we’re going to consider a brother falling for MC being the moment when they themself realize that they might have feelings for them.
#1 Demon: Satan Moment: As early as day 4
First up is Satan, who I’ve already explained here. An argument can be made that Mammon catches feelings first, but assuming a real-time progression, Satan’s first text reaches MC on their fourth day in the Devildom.
#2 Demon: Mammon Moment: Lesson 4-1
Mammon is interesting, because with this analysis he’s one of only two brothers for which you can actually get a calendar date for their falling for MC. You can do this because the first few lessons cover a very short span of time.
According to the fact that Lucifer says you don’t want to be late on your first day of school after giving you a hint about Goldie, MC makes a pact with Mammon on their second day in the Devildom. (You don’t go to school on day 1.)
Lucifer blocks MC from the attic on the night of day 3, and after that things get shaky again until you hit the TSL movie night with Beel and Mammon.
The reason the movie night is interesting is because Beel specifically states that midterms are coming up soon. Based on the game’s Japanese origin, we’re going to assume that RAD also follows the same three-term system that Japanese schools do. This places the TSL marathon at about a month into MC’s stay.
Anyway, we’re basing Mammon’s interest in you on pretty obvious factors:
We basically don’t see any of Mammon’s trademark tsundere nature until after these lessons. Before this it’s not him being tsundere, he’s genuinely annoyed with you.
He left a toothbrush and charger in your room sometime between Lesson 3-10 and 4-4.
This famous line:

He probably developed feelings sometime during the TSL marathon, but I think it was when you were in danger, and even though he kept saying he’d let you die his first instinct was to save you, that he understood what those feelings were.
#3. Demon: (Lucifer) Moment: Lesson 12-19
Crossed out and in parentheses Lucifer is the first one where we start to go off of assumptions and headcanon rather than concrete in game evidence, but. I’m sure your bigger question is “why is he crossed out AND in parentheses AND why does he show up again later.”
The moment I listed is the lesson where you and Lucifer have to fall in love to escape the “horror game” that Levi “trapped” you in. He spends most of the time seeming like he isn’t interested and doing it out of necessity, but then he turns around and says these lines.
Assuming that was almost a confession, I wouldn’t be surprised if he decided right there, in that moment, that he was developing feelings. Lucifer is very self aware, and very sure of himself, and it’s also not like him to suddenly change his mind about how he’s treating things. If he was hiding his feelings the whole time, I don’t think he would have almost slipped at all.
Of course, right after this, you announce that you’ve met Belphegor, and his developing feelings are overshadowed by rage.
And of course, Lesson 12-19 never happened.
What?
Let me remind you of the timeline. Barbatos explains in Lesson 16-19 that he has the power to choose any timeline as the sole reality, and he chose the timeline you traveled to.
When you jump back in time, you end up in the moment right after making a pact with Satan (Lesson 12-10). This means that everything that happened between Lessons 12-10 and 15-17 was erased from history.
The timeline in Season One looks a little something like this, to simplify.
Admittedly, we don’t know how far into their conversation MC and Lucifer make it in the second timeline, but on Lucifer’s part I don’t think it changes much.
This timeline stuff is important because
#4 Demon: (Leviathan) Moment: Lesson 14-4
Ok, first, I have to say that I really hate the way MC and Levi make up in Lesson 14. imo it has the potential to be really manipulative on both sides. But that’s not the point of this post.
Levi does NOT have a crush on you before Belphie shows up out of nowhere. In Lesson 14-4, he’s talking to himself, and distinctly complains about losing a friend, and how Henry is his only friend.
He’s also refusing to acknowledge your existence, and he’s talking to a fish, so there’s no reason for him to hide how he really feels in the moment.
Then, later on in the same chapter, this is Levi’s response to seeing MC hug Lucifer.

I’m assuming MC isn’t the one he’s jealous of. But what’s interesting here is that, as far as I can remember, this is the first time Levi ever expresses jealousy about you in any sense, platonic or romantic. You don’t really interact with Levi one on one between Lesson 14-4 and this moment, so 14-4 is the most likely catalyst for this change.
Levi does say “you’re my true friend” at the end of 14-4, but you are not a fish, and that doesn’t change the fact that he could have been like “oh wow MC didn’t abandon me they really like me oh no I really like them”
Also, by 16-A he canonically likes you.
But just like with the last one, this exchange never happened and Levi never fell for you.
#3 Demon: Belphie Moment: Between Lessons 18-15 and 18-19
Now Belphie is interesting, because I would argue that he was trying to fall in love with you for a while. All that “making up for lost time” and seeming to spend every waking hour with you in lessons 17 and 18 to me point pretty heavily to the idea that he wants to feel the same way about you that his brothers do. Whether it’s to feel more connected with them or from a genuine interest in you is unclear though.
But then he decides to give you a pact as a present, which is a pretty big deal. Most pacts in the game are made before the demon has feelings for you, but aside from Belphie, Satan is the only one who brings it up himself. And since like I said Satan pretty clearly liked you before making a pact, the same can probably be said of Belphie.
I should also mention that Belphie muses over giving you a pact in Lesson 18-A, which takes place before Lesson 17-7 at the latest. But we have to remember that this is before you’ve helped him mend his relationships with his brothers, and therefore he barely knows you. Satan also barely knew you, but Belphie has the added problem of mixing up you and Lilith. You can make arguments for the others when they were uber nice to you in Lesson 16-19, but for Belphie there’s really no other possible reason than Lilith.
However, Lesson 18-15 is the one where Belphie says he’s going to move forward with his life and stop putting things on hold for Lilith.
So, chances are his attachment to you is pretty unhealthy at first, but I’m choosing the timeframe I did as the moment because in 18-19 he explicitly states that he isn’t confusing you with Lilith.
This would be the moment of confirmation that he likes you, not the idea of what you might represent.
#4 Demon: Leviathan, Beelzebub, Lucifer Moment: Sometime during the time skip
I don’t think we see these three fall for you on camera. The time skip covers literal months, and I think they fall for you in somewhere in that long period of time.
I don’t think I need to tell you that Levi and Beel like you by the time Lesson 20 comes along, since they both confess to you.
Lucifer doesn’t explicitly confess, but if you choose to hug him, he says this

Which heavily implies that he wants to be the one most important to you. Also, I don’t think he’d have made a pact at all otherwise.
#7 Demon: Asmodeus Moment: Lesson 19-17
For Asmo, I think we see the EXACT moment he realizes he’s in love with you.
First off, in Lesson 16-A he noticeably isn’t openly interested in you in any way other than superficially. Granted, 16-A never happened, but it does confirm that he didn’t like you before then.
Then, in his part of Lesson 19, you go drinking with him. Early in the night, he says this.

His answer to your prompt of romance suggests that he doesn’t understand the fact that he does like you like that, or at least that he’s in denial.
However, then you beat him at a drinking game, and the reality of you leaving him behind comes crashing down on him.
The drastic change makes me think that this is the very moment he understands his feelings.
--
And that’s it! I hope this was an interesting read, and sorry again it took SO long.

Ready for me to totally overanalyze a dream sequence from this ep to support a hc I have? Okay!

so Naruto drifts off in the rain and we see what he’s dreaming of, like a flower blooming in reverse and Sasuke morphing from a kid to a teen as he walks away, but the Valley of the End also shows up and we specifically see ??

There’s no way Naruto can consciously know or remember what the rain felt like as he lay here or that Sasuke watched him because Naruto was ko’d big time. But is it possible Naruto subconsciously knows? In the dream, the rain shot starts really close to Sasuke’s face. That’s more accurate to what Naruto would see if he opened his eyes there, only Sasuke’s face, not the rest of his body, and it really puts an emphasis on Sasuke, his expression, which differs from the actual scene. He looks less severe in the dream, more somber. Is it possible Naruto sensed Sasuke’s feelings with his chakra or something while he was unconscious? I mean, when Naruto wakes up after their fight, Sasuke, despite being a decent ways away, seems to sense it, even turns back as if to look at him.

I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to say Naruto felt Sasuke’s presence before he walked away, maybe subconsciously picked up on Sasuke’s inner turmoil and grief as Sasuke gazed at him. During this part of the dream sequence the camera’s also a little unsteady, like it’s an unclear memory, and it would be if the memory belongs to Sasuke, not Naruto, or if Naruto wasn’t awake to see it happen.
If I’m not overanalyzing here, if Naruto did feel Sasuke, does he dream of this moment often? Does he have this feeling that Sasuke not only spared his life that day but struggled to walk away from him? But Naruto doesn’t have any proof. Just fleeting dreams of Sasuke leaning over his unconscious body, letting the rain act as his tears.
#naruto#narusasu#sasunaru#sns#i love the idea that sasuke actually pressed his forehead against naruto’s too#an apology as much as a goodbye#but there’s definitely no proof of that. at least not as far as i am

Restless Rewatch: The Untamed Episode 19, part two
(Masterpost) (Other Canary Stuff) (Previous Post)
Warning: Spoilers for All 50 Episodes!
The Man Comes Around
Over at the Wen Indoctrination Tower, which seems to exist just to torture Lan Wangji with stair climbing, Lan Wangji is climbing the stairs. Too bad his cultivation level is too low to be able to just jump up. At least this time his leg isn't broken.
This is the first vengeful stair-climb in the show, but not the last. (Parallel gifset here).
The Wen guards are stationed all the way at the pinnacle of this tower to guard...what? Why are they not at the bottom of the stairs? What is this location for, actually? This is further up the stairs than the scenes with the indoctrination lectures. Anyway, it's been three months since Wen Chao threw Wei Wuxian into the burial mounds, so naturally these guards are talking about that exact thing as Lan Wangji approaches.
Lan Wangji knocks them all down with a blast from his guqin. Did you know his guqin is named Wangji, by the way? It is. A guy who is that lazy about naming his quqin maybe shouldn't feel so superior to a guy who named his sword "whatever."
(I'm suddenly remembering a plush lamb I had as a child, whose eyes were orange, that I named "orange eyes.") (I, however, was three. And I had a lot of plush lambs. Little ones. Grown-ups found it hilarious to give them to me.) (Native speakers of English can probably guess what OP's real name is. Hint: it rhymes with Canary.) (Everybody else: there is a kid's rhyming song called Mary Had A Little Lamb. OP's name is Mary.)
Anyhoo, after Lan Wangji is finally finished with his dramatic entrance, Jiang Cheng comes flying in from wherever he's been hovering for the past 20 minutes of stair time. A bunch of Lan sidekicks also flood into the frame from wherever they were hiding during the wide shots of LWJ on the staircase.
In case you hope that CQL Lan Wangji is as much of a top (offscreen) as MZDS Lan Wangji is (on the page), here's a gif for you.
(more after the cut)
He uses the patented Lan string attack to choke this guard. Lan Wangji doesn't have to hold a guqin string in his hands to choke someone with it. He doesn't even have to tighten it, judging by how absurdly not-tight this string is.

Or maybe this guy is choking on the chin strap of his helmet. This is exactly how OP's son reacts when OP sticks a bike helmet on him. (Note: it's GOOD that they are following choking safety protocols on set. Very good. However, they could have just left the string out and pretended, and it would look better, in this instance)
The Wen guard tells Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng about the whole "thrown into the burial mounds" thing. Team Let's Find Wei Wuxian is not happy to hear this.
A Vengeful Ghost
Meanwhile, in some Wen office somewhere? Where the hell is this? Yiling, we get an ominous shot of the rooftops where Wei Wuxian is lurking and then we see Wang Lingjiao trying to sleep and having a nightmare.
Wang Lingjiao has gone to sleep with a full face of makeup on instead of washing her face before bed. She has forgotten the important maxim, Go To Sleep Pretty, Wake Up Zitty.
She leaps out of bed to go cling to Wen Chao and freak out about Wei Wuxian's ghost. Wen Chao is trying to read the sports section and has clearly had enough of this crap. This has presumably been going on for a little while now.
Wang Lingjiao is in a new outfit, which is...pajamas? It has the feel of a 1930's French peignoir set, and it's much more softly colored than her usual bright red-purple combo. If this is her pajamas is it weird that her day clothes are a lot more aggressively sexy-looking than her nightgown? A freak in the streets but a lady in the sheets.
Wen Chao rants about the Sunshot Campaign and talks some smack about Wen Qing, and then leaves to go to the bar and watch the game with Wen Zhuliu. After he leaves Wang Lingjiao freaks out for a bit and then looks at the notice he was reading.
The notice basically says that the Sunshot Campaign is kicking their ass. She should be proud for inspiring the name of the campaign with that kite-shooting bullshit she made up at Lotus Pier. Before slaughtering everyone.
No Matter What You Do, I Only Want To Be With You
Back at the Indoctrination Tower, Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng are having feelings about Wei Wuxian. Jiang Chang does all the talking but Lan Wangji's thoughts are louder because a sad violin is playing Wangxian while they talk.
Jiang Cheng tells Lan Wangji about their meetup plan and says he thought WWX had dumped him to go find Lan Wangji in Lanling. Lan Wangji telepathically indicates that this didn’t happen. This means two things: 1. Lan Wangji has been hanging out in Lanling, where Jiang Yanli has been hanging out, so maybe they have bonded over the past 3 months and 2. This is the first time Jiang Cheng has talked to Lan Wangji since Wei Wuxian disappeared.
Much as my fic-loving heart would like to believe these two spent three months on the road together looking for Wei Wuxian, in fact they are both important high-level fighters in an active military campaign, and Lan Wangji was busy taking back the Cloud Recesses while Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian were having elective surgery. They probably both were assigned to the "Indoctrination Bureau" mission and this is the first chance they've had to talk about Wei Wuxian.

Is it heartbreaking that, while Wei Wuxian was helplessly getting his ass beat because he'd sacrificed his golden core for Jiang Cheng, Jiang Cheng believed Wei Wuxian had abandoned him for Lan Wangji? Yes. Yes it is.
For some reason Jiang Cheng is hesitant to believe that Wei Wuxian really was thrown into the Burial Mounds. I mean, I understand not wanting to believe Wei Wuxian is dead, but given that Wen Chao is the dude who oversaw the massacre of all of the people at Lotus Pier, including kids, why would Jiang Cheng think his guards are wrong? Maybe he just feels like Wei Wuxian is invincible, since so far he kinda has been.
The Sword is Mightier Than Not Having a Sword
While they've been chatting, the Lan disciples have found their swords. One disciple is holding Bichen (LWJ's sword), Sandu (JC's sword), and OP consults wiki Suihua (Jin Zixuan's sword). Another disciple is holding Subian (WWX's sword).
Jiang Cheng grabs Sandu while the Lan disciples, who apparently know their gongzi’s heart, offer Wei Wuxian's sword to Lan Wangji.
Lan Wangji takes Subian (Bichen: What am I, chopped watercress?) and immediately tries to draw it. Like you don't do. It's sealed itself, which apparently means that it's upset. It's unclear if it's upset because Wei Wuxian is dead or if it just misses him, however.
Lan Wangji definitely misses him, and wonders, out loud inside his own head, where Wei Wuxian is. Um, he's in the Burial Mounds, dude, they just told you. Well, I guess he's actually in Yiling proper at this point, haunting Wang Lingjiao as he promised her he would.
Twa Corbies
The scene shifts to Qinghe, where there are about 12 dead bodies lying around, which in this show means that there are really a few hundred. In fact, per Jiang Yanli's statement "nothing can be seen but corpses covering the plains." The camera can't see most of them, is all.
Wen Xu's head is hanging in the doorway, and the Jins talk about how Nie Mingjue killed him, cutting his head off with just one swing. Is this foreshadowing anything, like perhaps someone else's head being cut off by Baxia in just one swing? Nope, definitely not.
A couple of crows are perched on a body, totally not eating it, but Jin Zixuan gallantly zaps them with a talisman to make them fly away anyway. It might be noteworthy that nobody used to use talismans but gradually more and more people are using them - particularly people who have spent time with Wei Wuxian.
With mony a lock of his golden hair-o, we’ll theek our nest when it grows bare-o
Asshole cousin Jin Zixun says “scavenger rights,” so Jin Zixuan puts him in charge of collecting all the bodies.
Since OP just finished watching fur-collar-happy Nirvana in Fire, these crows look to me like they are wearing luxurious fur collars. Where OP lives, crows are not this fancy.
A Romantic Corpse-Filled Interlude
Disaster het Jin Zixuan goes to help Jiang Yanli get out of the carriage but she rejects his hand just like he rejected hers back in Gusu.
Jiang Yanli is extremely shocked when she sees Wen Xu's severed head, and turns away in horror, preferring to calmly rest her eyes on dozens of crow-pecked corpses.
Jin Zixuan tries to comfort her and she tells him she'll be going now, thanks for the hospitality. He tries to say that he has to personally deliver her to a representative of the patriarchy one of her brothers, but then one of her brothers shows up.
Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng arrive, having presumably flown there from Qishan. They show that they are flying by blowing a fan on the ground and then jumping off of a box, which is better than the effects we were subjected to earlier in the episode.
Jiang Cheng rushes over to have an emotional reunion with Jiang Yanli, while Lan Wangji rushes over to have an emotional reunion with Wen Xu’s severed head. Jin Zixuan kind of spoils it for him by talking about Wei Wuxian's absence while Lan Wangji is trying to have a moment.
The whole time Jin Zixuan is talking to him, Lan Wangji appears to be gazing into the middle distance but in fact he is staring at Wen Xu's severed head. This is the guy who led the burning of Cloud Recesses, killed a bunch of disciples, and personally broke Lan Wangji's leg. Lan Wangji stares at his head for more than a full minute before glancing away.
Jiang Yanli hasn't seen Jiang Cheng since they were in Wen Qing's clinic, and she is happy he's recovered. When she asks about Wei Wuxian he gives her the bad news in the classic Jiang fashion, which is to say nothing, but look stricken until your interlocutor figures out that something is horribly wrong, but not precisely what.
Four Angry Men
Inside the fortress, Nie Mingjue is slapping the table and saying, this bad boy can hold so much resentment and vengeance. They're having a mini war council and we're getting a better sense of Nie Mingjue's anger management problem. Note for those who don't get the gif reference: this is a The Godfather joke, not a sex joke, but it can be both, if you like.
We're also getting a little more info about Baxia, who seems to be eager to go fight even without anyone wielding it. (Her? Him? Them? do swords have gender? I don't know). Well done, person below the camera frame whose job is to rattle Baxia in a menacing manner.
They've got a giant model of the battle targets, which looks like it was carved out of real rock (I mean, as much as any of the rocks on this show look like real rocks) and has its own table and everything, decorated in Nie colors. Where was this before they took Qinghe back? Has Nie Mingjue been traveling with it?

Anyway, I'm assuming Nie Huaisang made it, because it's pretty nice. Hopefully they will keep it around for tabletop gaming after the war is over.
Jiang Cheng is upset but is using his anger management mantra to help control his temper while Jin Zixuan and Lan Wangji talk with Nie Mingjue.
Lan Wangji talks by leaning forward meaningfully, mostly not by using any words, but he asks for a battle assignment and Jiang Cheng immediately joins in. They both want to go find Wei Wuxian.
Nie Mingjue says Yiling is too difficult of a target, but Lan Wangji puts on his determined face, which is apparently very persuasive.
After Team Find Wei Wuxian leaves, Nie Mingjue asks Jin Zixuan to hang back so he can ask him how Meng Yao is doing. This is the first time he finds out that his ex didn't go to Lanling. Jin Zixuan tries to delicately remind him that Dad's got, like, SO many bastard children, they really don't have space for all of them. Nie Mingjue dismisses him immediately and abruptly.
Nie Mingjue might invite the straights to his party but he isn't interested in actually socializing with them.
Unconditional Soup is Only for A-Xian
Jiang Cheng can't sleep, and takes some time, now, to be sad about Wei Wuxian. Presumably he spent the prior 3 months being mad, not sad, because he really thought he just buggered off without saying anything for all that time. Which is sort of fair, but sort of not. One thing about these two bros is that for as close as they have been and as much as they love each other, their mutual understanding has some big, messy gaps.
Fortunately while he is feeling sad, Jiang Cheng does not try to draw Subian from its sheath, because wouldn't THAT be awkward.

Jiang Yanli can't sleep either, and comes to sit with him. Jiang Cheng feels bad that she's wearing herself out with worry and she says "As your sister, I have nothing to do but to worry about you." Jiang Yanli isn't one to complain but she doesn't like being inactive or helpless. In Lanling she was far from the war, but now that she's in Qinghe she'll make herself useful by tending the wounded, and later she'll help Jiang Cheng shoulder his responsibilities as he takes over the Jiang clan.
At the moment, however, all she can do is fret and make soup. As she gives Jiang Cheng a bowlful she reminds him that he absolutely has to rescue their brother who has, according to his captors, been reduced to bone dust.
With all the impossible shit that Jiang Cheng is expected to achieve - and in many instances, does achieve - he is absolutely the embodiment of the Jiang Clan's motto. Fuck his father for disrespecting him because he hadn't figured out how to do everything by the age of 16.
Definitely Not Chilling in Yiling
Back in Yiling, Wen Chao is hearing the news that the Qishan Indoctrination Bureau has fallen and that he's being called back to Nightless City. Wen Chao says he shouldn't need to go back because his dad has a new right-hand man. That new right-hand man, we will eventually learn, is Meng Yao. Wang Lingjiao, meanwhile, is hiding under the bed covers and deciding it's time to dump Wen Chao.
She locks the door and goes to pull out her jewelry box, which is locked and hidden under the bed. Maybe this is Wen Chao's jewelry box, because she acts kind of squirrely about opening it. Upon opening the jewelry box, she doesn't find jewelry but a pair of bloody fake eyeballs staring at her. She screams and freaks out and then the wind picks up and we hear the sound of a flute, playing the "I'm here to fuck your shit up" tune that Wei Wuxian likes.
Wang Lingjiao runs to the door and pulls down the protection talisman that's pasted above it, and pastes it directly to her chest instead, which is, we will learn in the next episode, the worst idea she could possibly have at this point.
Then she uses a poking stick to go flip the jewelry box open and finds it's full of ugly-ass jewelry again, plus an improbable number of weird round paper-mache biscuits that have been painted gold. None of this jewelry looks anything like the exquisite accessories people wear in this show, which means this stash was put together by the practical effects department, not by the costume department.

Anyway, Wang Lingjiao apparently thinks she can sell this fakeass stuff for a good price, so more power to her. But then we get a short glimpse of the menacing eyeballs again, this time on the floor, having moved out of the box and brought their little blood pool with them. Screeching ensues.
Next episode: Lady in Red!
Soundtrack: Twa Corbies, by Steeleye Span

Thoughts on Lies
Warning: Spoilers! And possibly having your heart torn into pieces. Other than that, have fun!
We open up with Marinette figuring out the recipes for the power ups as the new guardian.
I am disappointed that she still has not stopped oogooling over Adrien when he appeared on the news. Especially since she was allegedly with Luka by then. (I'll explain what I mean in just a minute)
Adrien was tired after the day he had as Adrien, which is a contrast of what Marinette believes his life is like. But being Chat Noir is the highlight of his day...
...only to not see Ladybug show up for patrols. And we see that it was all due to her figuring out the powerups.
Also, the patrols are a thing in cannon and I am still not over it after "Truth".
Chat Noir hoping for an akumatization so he can escape his civilian life radiated the same energy as Alya asking for akumatizations to interview the temporary heroes on her IG post. I get it, but still! We do not have people in danger for our needs.
Plagg being the one who announces any voice messages for Chat and asking for cheese through the feature on the Chat Phone brings me a whole other level of life.
Also, the whole milk thing at Le Grand Paris bar counter. It was hilarious, but also very sad. He really missed his m'lady
He ends the patrol after he saw Kagami training with her mom. And the smiles on his face! *Cries in Marichat and Ladynoir*
Plagg is the one that encourages Adrien to move on from Adrien, just like he applauded him from doing so in Loveater.
Kagami apparently said that fencing lessons are scheduled an hour in advance and Adrien (with that goofy grin on his face) knew what was up!
Both Ms. Tsurugi and Gabriel are very pissed at one another for the schedule change. That's hilarious, although everything comes at a price.
The parallels! Kagami is apparently learning Russian at her mother's request. Truly is a reflection of Adrien, civilian life wise.
Kagami? Lying???? The hell???? Who are you and what have you done to Kagami????? (Why am I surprised, y'all did this in Desperada)
She lies to their parents and the teacher to be in the art room with Adrien. I get it, teenage rebellion after being under an uninvolved parent, but still!
I like how the writers gave Kagami another dimension by saying she loves art, but her mom does not like her passion for drawing.
To Kagami's mom: WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOUR DAUGHTER IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH???!!! HER DRAWINGS BELONG IN A MUSEUM!
Also, art reflecting the truth? Hmmm.....
Since people like mentioning that Marinette has a thing for people with absent parents after "Truth", I will now say that Adrien has a thing for people who are great at drawing. I do not take criticism.
Kagami is hinting that Adrien's civilian life is not his true self (thank you for understanding him!)...
...but also says that being a "clown" (it was the Chat pose) is also not who he really is. The fandom would disagree with you. Although that brings up the question of whether both personalities merge to form who he really is and cannot be seen completely by anyone in any part of his life. But he is more like Chat Noir regardless.
Also, I want to see Adrien and Kagami spend more time together prior to this episode to see why she was not pleased with him being a clown if that's who he truly is, because her repositioning him against the wall made me feel like she is trying to place Adrien into a mold that reflects the image she might have created in her mind. (I don't know, this was just the first thought that came in my mind.)
They almost kiss, with Adrien being taken into shock (not terrified as we thought) until the alarm saying they have fencing lessons starting interrupts them and Adrien runs out, not before BLUSHING LIKE HELLO?!?!?
This is what I referred to in my second point and confirms what everyone was saying about this episode: this is "Truth", but through Adrien's perspective. Finally, an Adrien-centered episode!!!
To continue, every time Adrien and Kagami are together or were about to kiss, a sentimonster appears, with Ladybug trying to do something about it. Just like Lukanette, just like Adrigami: being a superhero affects your love life as a civilian.
Chat being thrown off the roof by accident and being rescued will never get old or less funny lol.
Montages continues up until the boat scene, where Adrien missed the intro to the performance, but I will never get over the fact as to how Adrien made it there before Marinette. It is beyond me.
Kagami not letting Adrien stay for 5 more minutes. Hmm...
Their cute moment together was what will lead to the demise of Adrigami as Kagami noticed he dropped the infamous lucky charm bracelet. *le gasp!
Why *le gasp*? Because 1) I fear it symbolizes that something will happen to Adrienette or that Adrien has forgotten about her, and 2) Wait until later.
Kagami revealed she lied so she can spend more time with Adrien alone, lying about leaving rehearsal earlier, lying about the fencing lessons rescheduling, and who else knows what else so she can be with him.
She tells him she loves him. But Adrien notices Ladybug and an Akuma. Oh boy, he wasn't able to give her any attention.
Because he left towards the direction of the boat (and said he left something there), Kagami used that to conclude it had something to do with Marinette. Oh boy.
Either I missed an entire scene about Ladybug knowing ShadowMoth's name, or we were not supposed to know how they know until this episode. It feels out of place to me, but oh well.
"I..am...AN INCREDIBLE SWIMMER!" still cracks me up even when I know how important it was in protecting her secret identity.
Happy Birthday Prince Ali!
Apparently, Kagami lied that her mom was in charge of watching over Adrien (or maybe not? I can't tell at this point.)
Yep, Kagami believes that Adrien is going after Marinette and probably resents them both if her facial expression says anything
We get to see that Ladynoir moment from "Truth"!! I love these two and their banter.
Adrienette stans, not much has changed. Adrien was concerned that he lost the Lucky Charm bracelet, for real. But said again because he though he would be clear of the lie since he thought he had it on him.
Kagami confronts him with it. AND THIS IS HIS SHOCKED FACE SCENE FROM THE TRAILER!!!
Thinking that she lies to get out of being with her, she leaves. With the bracelet. The leaving part is understandable, especially because she does not know about him being Chat Noir or what entails him to do. But why take the bracelet???
Adrien is also saddened by what happened. He also liked her.
We've never seen that part of city hall. Well designed in my opinion.
She was the akuma in City Hall with the glowing sphere! We were right!!!
Adrien feels guilty, though it is not really his fault. He has a duty to Paris!
Why is the music sounding different in French.
Jagged Stone. How do I feel about you after learning you purposefully abandoned Luka and apparently Juleka? Also, what's with the song??? (Rhetorical question. Do not answer)
We were wrong about Kagami's power: it paralyzes people who lie, not kill everything in its path.
Jagged, you abandoned your children. And you apparently lied about your age?!?!?! Both episodes show something about Jagged Stone that make him seem like an awful person on the inside.
Ladybug, how do you know about Lies's powers?!?!? There is a hole in the plot here! Unless there were other paralyzed civilians that gave her power a dead giveaway.
Chat Noir, if you lie as a civilian for whatever reason, of course Ladybug will too, since as a civilian, you need to lie to keep your secret identity a secret. Same rules apply to Ladybug, especially as the guardian.
The Lucky Charm is a drone, not a camera like I thought. How the hell did I get into an ivy if I can't tell the difference?!?!
Chat Noir pretending to lie is funny. It might also be his peppy attitude to lying. Also, his funnier version of ShadowMoth's name.
Ladybug finds the akumatized object and gasps. I wonder if its only a eureka moment or also the fact that she recognizes the bracelet, especially if its custom made.
Brutally honest people does not exist (we have all lied at some point, even Kagami who is usually brutally honest with people), but animals can't lie.
Fang being involved in destroying the akuma is cool.
This is the moment that we dreaded so much, yet knew was coming: CHAT NOIR DIES!
JK! He actually is paralyzed by truth because he jumped into the glowing orb. We were right that this is an anguishing scene to watch, but we're wrong about the part that he's killed. Yet, he still unnecessarily sacrificed himself and caused Ladybug to be angst about it.
WHAT IS UP WITH CHAT NOIR BEING HAPPY ABOUT SACRIFICING HIMSELF?!?!? AND DO NOT SAY ITS BECAUSE HE TRUSTS LADYBUG!
Yes Ladybug. Chat is crazy. And also crazy for you. And you are right about the crazy unconscious part. My Ladynoir heart!
ShadowMoth almost won until Fang bit off the charm bracelet. Thanks Fang!
Chat backing away from Fang licking him is a mood.
My favorite Ladynoir moment of the evening: Ladybug telling Chat to stop sacrificing himself and Chat saying she likes her adorable angry face. Her smirk afterwards.. And then their pound it.
But no seriously Chat. You need to stop doing that to Ladybug. She cannot take it anymore
Plagg said that even if Adrien loves someone else, he is likely to go back to Ladybug. Just like he goes back to Camembert. Seriously, despite his cheese analogies, he gives great wisdom.
Not Kagami almost beating up Adrien during his fencing lessons. And Mr. D'Angercourt notices this too as he stopped Kagami's final blow.
Also, isn't it illegal in fencing to push people? Oh boy.
And there's the Adrigami breakup scene: Adrien telling Kagami that he enjoys their time together and Kagami knowing their is sincerity in him. It is sort of unclear who actually ended things when Adrien asks if they could still be friends, but Kagami ends it all by saying that she will let him know once she can face him again. Ouch.
Adrien is hurt and stares at the lucky charm bracelet with what looks like sadness. Once again ouch.
Like Lukanette, I want to see Adrien and Kagami be happy together at least until halfway through this season. The issue is that it will hurt them more in the end.
Also, I noticed the difference between Luka and Kagami when ending their respective relationships. It hurt them both, but Kagami was more forward about it and Luka was somewhat passive. It could be based on what they know about their now exes (Luka knew that Marinette had feelings for Adrien and was not secretive about it even when they were together if the truths her friends said and the opening scene to this episode reflect this, whereas Kagami only has a suspicion and Adrien does not say anything regarding to it.
Also, I really did not like how the breakup on this end resulted in. While more realistic for a lot of people, it did not help that it involved Kagami as there are people who will go after Kagami after watching this episode, and I believe that the writers know this. Kagami is a good person who has a different response to the trust issues and lack of communication, as well as lies in their relationship. Not saying its a perfect one, but an understandable one. In conclusion, don't trash Kagami, especially if you saw this coming.
I take back what I said before; this is my favorite Ladynoir scene. I want to hug them both because they have to lie and keep secrets from everyone, even have some secrets between themselves! But at least they can trust each other! Excuse me while I cry over how much we are being fed. Also, the fact that they broke up with their respective partners makes this both heartwarming and heart breaking.
Overall, this episode is just as good as Lies! It is the first fully Adrien-centered episode, which makes this a first and already exciting. While I did not like how their breakup was handled, it was realistic and showed that honesty and communication are important. Also, can my children be happy together for longer than an episode??? I swear, their pain hurts me.
But at least Ladybug and Chat Noir have each other's company to get them through. May us Ladynoir stans continue to be fed!

The Viper: Chapter One
What happens when an agent of the Red Room falls into the hands of Hydra? What happens when Hydra puts out a hit on their favorite assassin? Who is the mysterious woman with a twisted history and an even more twisted mind?
The team wants to know. They want to know what you know. Nat and Bucky want to know if there’s any light left in you.
They want to know you.
Bucky x Female Reader
The Viper Master List | My Writing Master List
The sounds of car horns are loud around you. The blaring, beeping and bustle of pedestrians creating layers and layers of sound. You’re trained well enough to sift through the sounds, listening to pieces of conversation and various sounds of your environment to orient yourself.
You can feel the smallest shift of every person who’s moving in the space around you. Your senses are so focused you can practically hear the blood rushing through the people closest to you. Your prey is about a block up, completely oblivious to where you followed.
The streets around you were loud and the sounds were strong, but nothing could keep your focus off your mission.
Underneath your hood and the rim of your baseball hat, your face was hidden in shadow. If anyone would have seen or marked it, they would have seen the wicked gleam of a grin.
--
“What’s got you all in a tizzy, Tony?” Nat asks from Bucky’s right. The whole team was gathered around a conference table in Avengers tower looking kinda bored. Tony had called everyone here this morning, much to everyone’s chagrin because he had promised a week off and then apparently changed his mind a mere three days later.
Bucky sighed and rolled his shoulders, leaning back in the office chair he currently sat in, lifting the two front feet off the floor. All he really wanted was to go back downstairs and into the city with Nat and finish looking for a birthday gift for Steve. That’s what they were doing this morning before they were quickly called back to the tower. He’d procrastinated too long and really had zero idea of what to get the man.
“I’m confused about something and I don’t like being confused.” Tony retorted.
“Oooo” Sam piped up from across the table. “The great Tony Stark admits to not knowing something. I’m surprised there isn’t steam coming out of those ears.”
Bucky smirks at his friend. God he loved Sam and his remarks. He would say something similar, but his relationship with Tony still wasn’t perfect and he didn’t want to push his luck at the moment.
“What is so confusing, Iron Man? Don’t know what to get Pepper for your anniversary? Or did you say something stupid again and your giant brain can’t figure out exactly which asshole statement pushed her over the edge this time?” Nat chimed in with a mocking smirk.
Tony pointed a single finger at Nat. “I have had our anniversary present for two months already and I’m actually getting better at figuring out which one of my snarky comments goes too far, just so you know.” He sighs and presses a few buttons on the large screen under the glass conference table, whipping up a bundle of information to appear on the screen behind him. “What I’m confused about is why Hydra put out a public hit on one of their top agents.”
At that, Bucky’s chair drops back to all four legs abruptly. The confusing piece of information startled him into finally giving his full attention to the conversation. His heart rate picked up a bit.
“They did what ?” Steve asks from the end of the conference table opposite Tony, voicing the question on all their minds.
“This morning Hydra posted a bounty on a known dark web forum. It’s not unheard of for them to post some of their lower enemies on this anonymously for unaffiliated assassins and bounty hunters to take down. What’s different this time is they made it very clear that Hydra was posting.” He whipped up what looked eerily similar to a reddit post up on the screen. “And what makes even less sense is I know for a fact that the person they called a hit on has been their little secret weapon for over ten years.”
Bucky scanned the post up on the screen. Sure enough, it said that Hydra had a hit out on a well known assassin and was offering 50 million along with diplomatic immunity in a country of their choosing for the head of the operative.
“Who’s the target?” Nat murmured.
“So, this is the fun part. Especially for you two.” Tony continued, pointing at Nat and Bucky.
“What?” Bucky grumbled. Fun for him? What the hell? What could possibly be in Tony’s twisted brain to think anything to do with Hydra would be fun for him?
“Here’s the mark.” Tony pulled up a blurry photo of a figure wrapped in muted colors clearly captured on some sort of security camera somewhere on a bustling street. If Bucky was tracking the cobblestones and architecture of the buildings correctly he’d guess it was taken somewhere in Cairo.
“Is that the best fucking picture you can get us, Stark? You can barely see their face.” Sam quipped, leaning forward in his seat to squint at the screen.
“This is the clearest photo of her face, yes.”
“Her?” Nat snapped, popping her eyes to Tony.
“Yes. Her. The Viper .” He smirked back at Nat. Bucky heard a quick intake of breath from his right. Nat.
“No…” She whispered, and trailed off.
“Oh yes, Natasha. Oh yes.” Tony flicked his fingers across the table again and all the known stats on the Viper pulled up on the screen. “This is where the fun begins for us. This is what we know about the Viper. She was “found” at a young age somewhere in middle America. It’s a little unclear where, but from where I tracked it must have been somewhere in the Midwest.”
“They stole a kid from Wisconsin? Why would Hydra bother when they had their fingers in so many other countries?” This was from Steve.
“It wasn’t Hydra…” Nat murmured.
“ What? ” Bucky piped up again. He felt like his brain was spinning. A top Hydra assassin? Did he know her? He would have to spiral into his memory to find out if he ever met this Viper…
“It was the Red Room.” Nat whispered then. Her eyes staring directly at the table.
“Yes indeed!” Tony quipped. “Remind me Nat, were you still there when they dragged in the little girl kicking and screaming or not?”
“Tony!” Steve seethed from his end of the table.
“I wasn’t living there anymore, no. I had just graduated. She was a couple years younger than me. They said she caused quite a nuisance during the assassination of a target. Instead of killing her they decided to bring her back. I saw her maybe twice. They had always referred to her as the snake. She was less refined than the other girls, she started her training a little too old, but she was… desperate to make up the difference.” Nat shuddered a bit then and Bucky felt compelled to reach out and place a hand on her shoulder. “She reminded me of… me.”
There was a small moment of pause before Tony started again. “So our little snake graduated from The Red Room and spent a few years as an agent for them before falling in with our buddies at Hydra.” Tony looked at Bucky then, “Where she was trained and conditioned to fill a missing position in their ranks after they unfortunately lost control of a very important asset. ”
“You’re a prick Tony.” Steve muttered, his eyes falling on Bucky. Bucky waved him off. He was fine, really. He’d started making peace with his history when he was on Wakanda and though he still had a long way to go, he wasn’t going to fall to pieces at the mere mention of the Winter Soldier.
“You’re telling me that they…” He trailed off, his mind spinning in circles. This poor woman he didn’t even know subjected to what he went through, simply because he had left. He knew it wasn’t his fault, but he still felt responsible that someone else had to fill a hole he had created.
“Yes they trained this little spitfire to be their top assassin and she has been in their top ranks since about 2010, only stepping into the role of top assassin after the events in 2016 finally severed you completely from the organization. She’s been racking up kills ever since. Much like you my dear metal armed friend, she’s nearly impossible to catch on camera, let alone see with your own eyes.”
From the corner of the room, where he sat in a chair separate from the table, Bruce finally spoke. “I always thought The Viper was a myth.”
“Yeah and you thought the Winter Soldier was a myth. Hell I always thought Thor and Loki were just some folklore.” Sam remarked. “I believe almost everything nowadays.”
“Wait so, this woman was a trained Red Room assassin, then a top Hydra operative and now they’re asking the internet to kill her? Why didn’t they just take care of her themselves? Surely they had her locked up or brainwashed somehow.” Bruce said.
“You guys are seriously just assholes sometimes.” Steve murmurs.
“I’m fine, Steve.” Bucky says. “It’s a valid question. Even when they wanted me eliminated, they only worked with people inside.”
“Exactly.” Tony said. “My theory is, they want us to know that they want her dead. In fact, my more specific theory is that this is bait in order to get us to hunt and eliminate her. I want to know why.”
“She must have slipped away from them.” Nat said then. “Even if no average internet bounty hunter could ever touch her, surely they’d at least keep her a little busy. Busy enough that we might be able to get a jump on her. She must know something.”
“Exactly. What does she know? And why don’t they want her to utilize whatever information she knows?”
“So we’re going to find her then.” Steve said. “What if this is a trap? Specifically set up to intrigue us into bringing their very own top operative into our facilities.”
“It could be.” Nat responded. “But it seems a little weird to send a bunch of people they don’t control after her unless they genuinely didn’t care about what happened to her. It seems unlikely she’s still an asset to them if they’re willing to risk her actually being caught off guard, no matter how unlikely that is.”
“See, this is what I meant by being confused.” Tony quips then, heading for the door. “I’ve sent everything I know about the woman to each of you. Study it. See what conclusions you come to on your own. We’ll reconvene here tonight to discuss an action plan.”
--
You sat in a corner booth at a tiny cafe, facing the door. There was a swinging door into the kitchen to your left, which led to three back exits. Directly in front of you was the only door facing a main street. The whole front of the coffee shop was glass, giving you a clear view of the two targets you’d been tracking all morning, who had stopped to grab breakfast at a restaurant across the street.
You were twirling a long since lukewarm cup of coffee in your hands, your eyes flicking back and forth between your marks and the swinging kitchen door at your shoulder.
You watched as your marks both stretched and stood up. The woman hailed a cab. They seemed disgruntled.
Interesting.
While the woman tried to snag the attention of a cabbie, you threw a few crumpled bills on the counter of your table and slipped through the swinging kitchen door. There were a few shouts of alarm as a stranger wandered into the bustling diner kitchen, but you quickly weaved through the crowded kitchen and out a back door. You jumped on the sleek black Kawasaki bike you’d stashed behind a dumpster in an alley.
You pushed the bike out and around the corner before turning it on, waiting to confirm that they had both piled into a cab. You revved the engine and punched the accelerator, weaving quickly between the piled up traffic, causing lots of horn honking and a few near rear-end accidents.
Your heart was hammering in your chest, the adrenaline coursing through your veins as you tore after that cab.
The grin still plastered on your face.
--
Bucky’s head was reeling as he read through the intel, albeit a small amount, that Tony had managed to dig up.
There were a total of 3 videos captured on a security camera of the Viper on a job. He watched them all multiple times.
The Viper was ruthless and unnervingly calm. It reminded him of himself, what he saw in the footage of the Winter Soldier. It made the bile in his stomach churn. He knew that feeling of uncontrollable calm very well and it made him break out in a cold sweat.
The first video showed her walking calmly up to a high security warehouse, putting bullets between the brows of every operative in sight, barely even looking in their direction before pulling the trigger. She walked directly with purpose toward the door that was clearly her mission. Once every operative in view of the camera had fallen she reached for the door handle. Before she slipped inside, she lifted her pistol without looking and fired one round into the camera, cutting the feed. With the hood on her jacket, there was no clear footage of her face. Bucky wondered how they were even sure it was her. Her murderous calm must have been enough evidence.
The second was a terribly grainy video taken in some basement somewhere. There was someone strapped to a chair and he watched as the Vipers fists slammed into the man repeatedly. A choppy, distorted, and heavily accented voice spoke about 40 seconds in. “Good, Viper. You may play now. Make sure there’s something left of him to interview tomorrow.” Bucky flinched as he saw the woman stride toward a table, likely filled with instruments of torture. The man strapped to the chair began to scream, pleading in Russian that he’d say anything they wanted him to. He heard a low woman’s voice come through the video, murmuring “Too late.”
The third was a more recent video according to the time stamp. It was less than six months ago off a security cam in Maracaibo. It was about a 9 second video, just watching the woman cross a bustling street in Venezuela. Bucky remembered that some hot shot Hydra agent had been found dead in Venezuela this year. Could it have been the Viper taking down one of their own? Is that why they were mad?
There were about 5 other attachments of images. The only photographs that Friday could find of this enigma apparently. 4 were blurry security camera footage from various places. The one Tony had shown this morning was truly the only one that even sort of showed the woman’s face. Well, except the 5th.
The 5th made Bucky even more sick than the footage of brutal violence. It was a Polaroid image of what appeared to be a 16 or 17 year old girl in ballet clothes, standing in the middle of what he assumed was a dance studio. It would have been normal, a young woman after a dance class, if it wasn’t for the red blood splattered up her pink tights, dripping off her knuckles and smeared on her jaw. The subject wasn’t looking at the camera, but rather seemed to be standing at attention with her focus to the right of the photographer. Written in sloppy Russian at the bottom corner of the Polaroid was “Option 4.”
What does that mean? Bucky thought to himself. Option for what?
It made him sick staring at that photo. If the blood wasn’t there, it would just look like a young woman preparing for a ballet class, or perhaps being photographed so a costume designer could see her figure while they created dazzling outfits for a production. It was so wrong for someone so young, whose face was filled with innocence, to be covered in blood. He felt so protective over her, this young woman he didn’t even know. This young woman who he knew grew up to be a murderer with a kill list almost as long as his.
He knew, looking at that photo, that this woman had never wanted this. He didn’t know how he got such a gut reaction to the image, but he saw himself in it. A young person who was given the worst hand of cards to ever be dealt, and was simply trying to stay alive. He stared at her thin frame, the hollow look in her eyes and nearly wept.
He needed to find her. He needed it more than he’d needed anything in a long time. He needed to find out how far she had fallen from this image, and if he could pull her back.
He needed to do it, because he’d always be grateful that someone did it for him.
--
Your marks had gone into the tall skyscraper a few hours ago. You were too antsy to sit around and wait to see if they’d venture back out into the city.
You prowled the sidewalk like a caged animal. Tracing patterns through the busiest blocks. Keeping track of nearby cameras.
Everything smelled like garbage and piss. You hated it. You loved it. It was such an easy city to get lost in.
An even easier city to be found in.
--
When Bucky finally dragged himself back to the conference room that evening, he felt like a wreck. He had worked himself up considerably throughout the afternoon. He was antsy and apprehensive.
He really didn’t know what was wrong with him. It was just some random assassin, why was he so worked up?
Steve noticed his touchy mood as soon as he walked in and raised an eyebrow at him.
“I’m fine.” Bucky grumbled. “Just want to figure this out. It’s bothering me for some reason.”
“Maybe because it’s a little too personal, Buck.” Steve said quietly.
“Yeah maybe.” Bucky coughed out. His chest felt tight with someone who knew him so well staring at him like this.
Before Steve could rib Bucky more, Tony sauntered into the room with Nat behind him. “So what’s everyone’s thoughts on our little snake in the grass?”
“I think the woman is damn fucking scary.” Sam piped up from the same chair he’d been in this morning. “And really good at her job. Reminds me of robocop over there a little too much if you know what I mean.”
“That’s what I find so interesting.” Steve says. “Because obviously we know that Bucky wanted out, and was not the person that the camera showed. I wanna know what’s really going on in her brain.”
“Banner, question for you, if we managed to set a little trap for our snake and actually got her in here, would you be able to scan her brain and see how much of it was under her actual control?” Tony said as he dropped into a chair at the head of the table.
Banner responded from where he sat in his normal chair in the corner. “I could compare a brain scan to early scans of Barnes’s brain. See how similar they look. Then compare to his post-Wakanda scans. In a sense, yes. But the brain is complicated as you know.”
“Can’t we just talk to her?” Bucky pipes up. “I mean, if it makes you feel more comfortable to hook her up to a lie detector whatever, but I just… I know what they do to people there and let me tell you there’s no way she’s in control.”
“What makes you so sure?” Tony questions. “I mean, I was wrong about you. I’ll admit that. I’m a bigger man now. But not everyone is Cap's former BFF brought back from the dead with a heart of gold trapped in a twisted hydra web. She could have gone willingly. In fact, I have a hard time believing that a Red Room agent was accidentally captured by Hydra. What if she went to them willingly?”
“But then why did she leave?” Natasha counters. “Who’s to say that she ended up in all this willingly. I don’t know the whole story of how the Red Room got her, but it’s rare that people join without coercion. There’s more to this story, I can feel it.”
“Me too.” Bucky whispered. There had to be so much more to that 17 year old girl than a brutal murderer.
“Nat, can you explain this image to me?” Tony says, pulling up the very polaroid that was going to haunt Bucky for weeks. “This looks like a pretty willing agent to me.”
Bucky cringed at Tony’s short sighted assessment. Sure, the subject looked relaxed but that didn’t mean willing. Nat sneered.
“Well Tony, when every week your instructors challenge two students to spar and the loser is killed however the classmate prefers, you too would willingly fight back, to the death if necessary.”
Steve flinched, and looked at Nat with eyes full of grief. “They made you kill each other?”
“Kept us from attaching to each other.” Nat said simply.
Steve just shook his head, placing his face in his palms. This was one of the reasons Bucky and Nat had gotten along pretty quickly. They’d come to terms with their trauma, and the others sometimes had a hard time brushing past the torture that the two of them had simply moved on from.
“Touche.” Tony shrugged. “So why does this image say option 4?”
“That I don’t know.” Nat sighs. “No photos were ever allowed to be taken of us, but the fact that this was clearly taken by an instructor confuses me.”
“So we have no answers.” Sam quips. “Do I need to go stand on the street with a sign that says “Viper take a crack at me” so we can maybe get a glimpse of her? I’m only doing it if I can wear the suit Tony.”
“That’s the thing, there have been no sightings of the woman for years, and the one tiny glimpse in that surveillance shot from Venezuela 6 months ago was a blip. There was no record of anyone matching that description entering or leaving that country or any near it. We have no idea where she is.” Tony muttered. “I have Friday combing every single camera we can get access to, and hacking into those we don’t. The tip line on that forum is blank. No one seems to have seen her.”
There was silence for a moment, as everyone sunk into their own minds. Letting the gears turn.
“Mr. Stark.” Friday’s voice came lilting out of the ceiling. “I have a hit.”
Everyone jumped a bit, leaning forward in their seats.
“Put it on the screen.” Tony snapped. Suddenly the whole blank wall of the room was filled with various camera angles showing crowds of people wandering on the sidewalk. In the middle of a cluster of pedestrians was a figure draped in black, a baseball hat on their head and a hood pulled up over it. As the person moves, the different security camera’s flip past on the screen, keeping up with their movement.
Instantly, Bucky’s blood ran cold.
“Where is this?” Sam whispers.
“Queens.” Bucky, Steve and Tony answer in unison.
“Very close to Parker’s apartment…” Tony whispers.
“It’s empty.” Steve mentions. “Happy and May are on vacation and Peter is staying with his friend. That Ned kid.”
“I know.” Tony says. “Doesn’t mean I like her being around the corner from his place regardless.”
The room goes quiet for a few moments as they all watch the Vipers progress through the streets of Queens. She never picks up her head, seeming to be watching the sidewalk in front of her. She slips easily between groups of people, never bumping into anyone even though she doesn’t seem to be looking at anyone.
“What are we doing?” Sam says then. “We know exactly where she is. She’s so close. Let’s go suit up.”
“There’s no way she’s here by accident.” Nat says quietly. “It’s like she wants us to find her…”
“Another layer of intrigue.” Tony snarks.
“She wouldn’t be stupid enough to show up in this city unless she actually wants us to find her.” Nat continues. “Either they sent her here as a trap and finally had her look into a security camera long enough for us to track her, or she’s doing this on her own. Either way, I don’t understand the motive.”
There’s another moment of silence as they all watch the cameras track the target.
Abruptly, the Viper stops in the middle of the sidewalk. The pedestrians continue to flow around her, many seem to be grumbling and some throw rude gestures in her direction.
There’s now only a single security camera in the area able to capture her image, she stands right in the center of the frame.
“What is she doing?” Steve whispers.
Through the grainy camera footage, the whole team watches as it looks almost like her shoulders shake slightly. She seems to be looking at her feet.
No one breathes as the woman in the center of the video lifts her head slowly. Her eyes land directly on the lens, as if she’s peering straight through the shitty security camera and into Avengers tower.
There’s a huge grin on her face.
Then, from the pocket of her hoodie, she pulls a pistol and calmly points the barrel at the camera.
The last thing the camera sees in her head dropping back as she begins to cackle. Then she pulls the trigger, ending the feed.
“Holy shit.” Sam whispers.
Bucky is speechless. His heart is pounding in his chest. He felt like her eyes seared through the camera and right into his chest. He can barely breathe.
“Friday, show us the other cameras in the area.” Tony barks.
Friday pulls up tons of camera angles of the street the Viper was just standing on. The crowds are screaming, attempting to run away from the spot that the Viper had clearly just been standing. However, there are no further gun shots and no one looks injured.
“What the hell? ” Bucky says under his breath. She just shot out a camera in the middle of a busy street in Queens? For what?
“Are there any figures matching her description on any of these feeds?” Tony snaps again.
“No sir.” Friday replies. “I’ve scanned every camera in the borough and I can’t see her on any of them.”
Everyone sits in shocked silence as the security footage continues to roll. The NYPD show up, helping to calm the pedestrians. They watch quietly as they start to tape off the area. Everyone knows however that if no one was hurt, it’s unlikely that the cops will pursue the incident further. They have much bigger fish to fry in this town.
“Well goddamn.” Sam finally breaks the silence. “That was quite a little performance.”
“She really wants us to find her then.” Nat mutters.
Around the room everyone mutters their agreement.
Bucky finds his voice finally.
“So let’s find her.”
--
There’s unending adrenaline in you now. It was reckless you knew that. It was also so obvious what game you were playing with them at this point, but you didn’t care.
They clearly weren’t going to make a move, so you had to play your hand first.
For better or worse, it was their move now.
