I was at a pagan naming ceremony in a run down victorian mansion in the middle of nowhere over the weekend. At about 2am, after we were well into the homemade strawberry wine, and sitting in front of the roaring fire, someone did a remarkably catchy song called 'The Crabbit'. Which, naturally, was a song about the dangers and challenges of alcoholism and was accompanied by a man in a tight, white suit who was wearing crab claws and a rabbit mask and he forced the singer to down two pints of Guinness during the song.

When I tell you that I SPRINT when I receive a notification about a new chapter being posted!!!! Twas a hard week, and this was the perfect surprise!!

Violets comment about Liam holding her hand 😂, honestly, I was dying at the thought of her letting Liam touch her, and not Xaden, and how absolutely he'd lose his shit.

Not me also forgetting that Jack Barlowe existed and when he came in, I was like…”oooohhh brother THIS GUY STINKS”

THE CONVERSATIONS THEY HAVE IN THE DARK. 👏🏻 Like these moments are seriously my favorite from this fic, I get literal chills whenever I read them. The tension, the rhythms, the SHARED INTIMACY they don’t want to admit. FW and IF fell flat for me in these types of important moments for relational connection, and you write them so beautifully. It’s in these dialogues you can feel how well they know each other deeper than either of them imagined, and while there’s still some denial, it will make that moment when they finally admit their feelings SO MUCH BETTERRRR. Okaaaay BOHDI!!? Why am I obsessed with him?? Bodhi is a seriously underrated hottie imo, and I need someone to love him. (let it be me). It’s also so obvious he’s so about Xaden and Violet being married now and i love it.

we did vehemusical this weekend! twas enjoyable. we didn't solve everything, so our stage is missing some people, but that's okay:

the hunt is pretty short and it's not too hard (with one significant exception) - optimal for a small team of intermediate solvers with a bit of time to kill.

it's clear that this hunt was "not for me", in the same way that crosswords with tons of old people clues in them are "not for me": musical theatre isn't really my thing, so a lot of the content didn't feel as cool or connected in my head as other hunt stuff i've done, but i had a good time regardless. i'm glad to have teammates who can inform me of the necessary musical trivia and also bounce or riff off of ideas i have - even if we weren't as available as we were hoping to be.

SilverV Week

Hey @silverv-week , I’ve been excited for silverv weekend for a while and have something to share! I really wanted to write something based on the prompts but didn’t get to it since I was hyper focused on a different project in which I’m translating Cyberpunk into Elizabethan/Shakespearean English (to the best of my abilities; I love Shakespeare but am not a scholar or anything).

Warning, this isn't overly polished and is still kinda only partially edited, so it's likely that not all of the phrases sound fully Elizabethan. I rewrote part of Johnny and V’s conversation in the Tower ending (with a few more outward declarations of love so that it would constitute as SilverV), so here there be spoilers!

Johnny: I am fain to see fair Night ere my skyward leave— marry, she is a fair nunnery.

V: I needs say farewell. Pray you, open the door?

Weiss: Be not afeared— eternity is a foreign word and thy leave shall be short.

V: I am not a man who casts lots. [aside to Weiss] Pray you, open the door.

(the cart door opens)

Johnny: Lo, ‘tis fair Night, slumbering at thy feet. Marry, she is smaller than she once was— or thou hast grown.

V: Thy ruse is disquieting. I am undeserving of much, but above all, I am undeserving of thy love.

I did host my family's Thanksgiving at my house. That was more work than I expected. I did absolutely nothing the day after. Then that Saturday I put-up the decorations outside the house. And on that Sunday I put up the tree inside the house.

Today I finally got down the other boxes of decorations for inside the house and will work on it this evening before the kids come tomorrow.

Last week I visited a friend in Palm Springs for his birthday. That took a lot out of me. Work was madness AND I was working from his apartment. All of my energy was spent ensuring he had a good birthday and staying on top of work. By the time the weekend came, I was exhausted and did nothing.

I will be visiting a friend in Long Beach sometime this month. He will be in Puerto Vallarta next week, so probably the week after that.

But no, I have no other plans. I'm not going to our company's Christmas party. I am not doing the annual Christmas show at our local theater. I have no events scheduled to appear as Santa.

I am isolating and keeping to myself for the most part this holiday season.

And that's it for special memories this holiday season. Sorry. I'm not sure what's going on with me. It's been a weird year. I've been in monk-mode since spring, not going anywhere or seeing anyone.

I HAVE RETURNED!

Ahoy there, comrades and knaves! As of last night, I have officially returned from my trip out of state. I'm going to attempt to continue commissions this week, starting on Wednesday. We shall see how things go.

During my trip, among other events, I saw the stage version of The Lion King (twas glorious), and I also got to see "Kung Fu Panda 4" in theaters. (It grieved me to see how empty the seats were.) Not sure what the general opinion of the movie is, but I think it's good. It's a bit different, in some ways, from the past three, and I personally think the first two films are still the best two of the bunch, but it's not a bad entry at all: the returning faces, even if a lot of them don't actually do a whole lot, are nice to see back in form. As for the new faces - most notably the main villain and our deuteragonist - they are fun and interesting additions. The animation is also still top notch.

Also, we get Tenacious D covering a Britney Spears song over the end credits. This is worth celebrating.

ANYWAY...like I said, I'll hopefully resume commission writing in a few days. I want to take this weekend and the early part of the week to try and finish a personal piece I've been working on, then I'll get back into comms, as well as a gift story for someone. If you're reading this, you know who you are.
