Caretaker’s eyes burned. They hadn’t slept in days and they hadn’t stopped pouring over what little information they had about Whumpee’s disappearance. They couldn’t stop looking, but they also needed sleep. They would be of no help to Whumpee if they couldn’t keep their eyes open.

Caretaker blinked a few times trying to clear their blurry vision. They were seeing two of every word they read. They needed sleep more than they needed another cup of coffee. But sleeping meant that they weren’t looking for Whumpee and they needed to look for Whumpee.

“You look awful,” a voice came from the doorway.

Caretaker jumped, but smiled weakly as they saw Friend standing in the doorway. “I feel awful.”

Friend walked in and put a hand on Caretaker’s shoulder. “You can’t overwork yourself, Caretaker. Get some sleep. Come at this with fresh eyes.”

Caretaker shook their head. “If I stop looking for Whumpee who’s going to find them?”

“You don’t have to stop looking. Just take a break. Get some sleep. Come back refreshed.”

Caretaker opened their mouth to protest, but Friend spoke first. “Tell you what, I’ll look over the information for now and I’ll tell you my thoughts when you wake up? Fair?”

Caretaker yawned. “F-F-Fair,” they said around another yawn. “I’ll be back in a few hours.”

“Take your time,” Friend called as they settled in at Caretaker’s desk and pulled out their phone.

Friend pulled up the video feed from the camera they had installed in the room that they had locked Whumpee in. Friend Whumper smiled to themself as they saw Whumpee bound at the wrist and ankle and ball gag stuffed in their mouth. They certainly were having their fun with Whumpee. And it was fun to see Caretaker suffer so. Whumper pushed the button that allowed the video camera to transmit sound. “I’ll be home soon and we can really start with some fun. I was reading a particularly interesting article about burns. What do you think, Whumpee?”

Whumper chuckled at the fear in Whumpee’s eyes. This was going to be so much fun.

Just got my box of physical Puppet Combo games in the mail today! I was so excited I had a dream about it, hehe. And I was even more happy to find that they are DRM Free (at-least judging by the one disc I tested) , as I couldn't find much info about these versions of the games online. They give you the option of either running the games straight from disc or installing them, and they're free of disc checks, internet checks, or any kind of steam download crap. Wahoo!

Thank you for respecting your customers and letting them own the games they pay for, much appreciated in an industry so full of corruption, manipulation and abuse. I look forward to having the shit scared out of me from your wonderfully fucked up games. :) Update: I finished ripping all my games discs and they're all confirmed DRM free, was never pestered to do online stuff at any point. They also all included the game soundtracks, manuals, trailers, and some also included little bonus games!

A little nugget of advice I think is crucial to being trans and online is to learn to block and block without making it this moral maze.

There's this entitlement people have about "give me a platform to discuss your life!" and being trans is often seen as you giving consent to hearing about every little opinion somebody else has of you. It can be productive to debate, to discuss, but you are not the Debate Club where you're obligated to have multiple perspectives open up about what they think of you. You're a whole-ass human person, and it's okay to have the boundary of "I will not discuss my existence with you."

This goes for real life, too. The people in your real life are also not entitled to you knowing if they "agree" that you're trans. That isn't their lane, more often than not. And it's okay to recognize thatm

Come hang out with me and my snake Sakura on feeding day while we work on training her to follow and touch her target!

Before I got my girls I saw a lot of videos just showing off people holding their snakes or the snakes just staring back from inside their enclosure- but I wanted to see what it was like to just hang out with a pet snake and interact with them. I've been thinking of posting more videos sharing time I spend with my girls, and maybe it will be helpful for others with hognoses (or thinking of getting one wondering what they are like), or help scratch that itch for folks who want a pet snake but can't right now.

It's pretty fun teaching her and seeing how well she does- she understands what I'm asking her now, at this point the rewards only increase her confidence. Honestly, I bet if I made her a little obstacle course I could probably teach her to go through it- my biggest question is if SHE would enjoy the challenge and gain any benefit from it. Maybe. She does enjoy climbing just for the sake of climbing, and digging to dig. People enjoy the challenge of sports. Perhaps I could come up with an obstacle course that she would have a challenge and when she completes the challenge she is proud of herself and is rewarded- she did do a little celebratory dance when she challenged herself to climb a box before. Once a challenge is effortless, I could add another segment challenging her in a new way and see if she can figure it out.

While it would be a nice way to demonstrate to others how smart snakes really can be, and they aren't just lumps with nothing going on upstairs, if I do this I need to put Sakura's enjoyment and enrichment as the highest priority. And I think she does get bored - it could be a fun game for us!

Every day I grow more infuriated by entitlement

This post is about xiahongshu and some of my opinions on how tiktok has made people really disrespectful. It will be harsh, it will be critical, if you don't agree you can scroll, this is the equivalent of a rant.

Please don't post arguments in the comments, it genuinely impacts my mental health poorly, I'd rather that you just blocked my account or hid this post from your feed

I already hated tiktok and Instagram because short form media has allowed people to become bullies and completely forget how to be polite, I fully believe that tiktok has torn down people's ability to use manners and it's really frustrating.

But what's WORSE is seeing the number of these people who have moved over to xiahongshu and are refusing to put Chinese subtitles on a Chinese app, not even doing the bare minimum by providing translations for their comments, commenting under videos posted before the tiktok ban was announced saying things like "why can't this be in English", commenting hurtful things under the live streams of both Americans and Chinese people, generally bringing over "tiktok culture" which basically just means an uncivilised, brain rotted, rude, borderline offensive atmosphere. I've also seen a lot of comments saying they're planning on taking over the app and "colonizing it" and before you say these comments are made as jokes I checked one of the people's page and they had posted content alligning with that sort of mind set.

I'm sorry that I have such strong options on this but xiahongshu is a creative platform, it's elegant and artsy like Pinterest and Instagram combined, it has a feminine nature not seen on most social media platforms (another thing I've seen mostly American users disrespecting), plus it was designed for people who speak mandarin and demanding that these people stop posting in mandarin (particularly screaming that old videos should be translated) is quite entitled. We are in their space not the other way around and the more time I spend on that app, the more I realise that growing up on tiktok has completely altered people's brains in a negative way.

My question is, if we considered the platform as a house, someone else's house, a complete stranger who you have only just met who has expressed that they want to get to know you better and offer you a place to stay while you are between homes, would you act like a complete nuisance? Would you push every boundary laid out by them, be discriminatory and selfish to their face and make awful comments about their culture, the content they post and the language they speak? No! You would be grateful to them for letting you stay and (hopefully, idk how you were raised so I'm not gonna assume) you would try to abide by their rules so they don't get tired of you and send you back out on the street.

I'm not saying it's all Americans, I'm aware people from other countries like myself have also moved over there but every rude, disgusting, thirsty, or derogatory comment I've seen (some including slurs... I mean wth) has been made by people who have moved over from tiktok

Long and lean, the horned woman looms on high in a glass-walled VIP booth that overlooks the club's various excesses; the room itself sumptuous in its dark, yet inviting interior - and indeed devoid of the various attendants, supplicants, and hangers-on that the space is often busy with - though the woman, herself, does not recline amidst the luxurious leather and cool air that the box boasts by way of comfort, as the masses below soak in their own sweat. She, herself, loiters near that front pane of glass - fel-gaze turned downward, to those that revel below - as the cowled figure makes his arrival. The ever-steady pulse of the music, so like the beating of a great beast's heart, is still present - the vibrations readily felt through the floor...though, perhaps thankfully, the music itself is far more muffled in this space.

Whatever reverie drew her thoughts, the horned figure now takes a long pull from a glass of blue, glowing liquid - the fel-glow of her gaze drifting, at last, to the man who'd like a little privacy, "You're not really...dressed for the occasion - " There's a quick glance cast out to the crowd, and their rave-wear, and a shrug follows, "But, the whole idea is for people to come as they are, so...be my guest with the be-cowled robe, I suppose." The reflection of multi-colored, flashing lights against her face, in the window, only adds to the brush of something alien about her, this time around - the ever-so-slightly more fluid movement, perhaps...or the eye-markings that are only apparent in the brief flashes of light, maybe.

"Technically the club is owned by..." Here, there's a puff of breath from the leather-clad woman, and a quick swish-and-clink of ice in her glass, as she thinks, " - let's just say 'old friends'. Suffice to say that they've gone hands-off, so I suppose it is mine, now; they certainly don't need the place, anymore."

Now, there's a cock of that horned head in the flickering play of light and shadow, and a prompt, "Do tell, however - what brings your path back to my own? Privacy I can understand in most matters, frankly, but..." - her hands spread, as if to indicate the entirety of the club, itself, before the one holding the drink ascends once more, before she continues on, " - why here? One imagines that the setting matters as much as the content of the conversation." The play of light highlights it for but a second, but it would be difficult to miss the reflected light from fangs bared in a knowing curl of a smirk - while she may not have expected this figure to cross paths with her again, it seems she is well-acquainted with the types of topics that merit conversing here, as opposed to anywhere else... and she's certainly not quite evoking the 'well-to-do noble' just passing through the market, here.

I redownloaded my old calorie counter app that I used to use for disordered eating purposes when I was a teenager, but this time it's so that I can study macronutrients and understand them properly. I don't really care about weight but I want to start eating a bit more healthily (at least more balanced) since eating unhealthily combined with college stress has been giving me the worst intestinal issues. I kind of just want to understand food and nutrients so I am able to know how to eat healthy
