Whenever I read your posts about Bruce's plastic surgery and adjacents, I mainly imagine botox, fillers, and brow lifts. Instead of the partial face reconstructions. Neither of which are especially bad.
And it cracks me up, as well as unnerves me, to imagine Batman with his cowl highlighting his lips with migrating filler. I just don't think the fear factor would have the same effect.
I always say, the filler we notice is bad filler -- lots of celebrities get very tasteful, minimal filler in places we won't notice. Even the big stuff like a full face and neck lift can look terrible when overdone, and tasteful when minimally invasive (see Debbie Harry for a good example of this).
I love thinking about the world of reconstructive plastic surgery and how it applies to the Bats, so much so that I wrote that fic about it. I've been watching a ton of TikTok videos about it, and it's truly artistry -- when to add filler, when to add plates, when to go in and graft, etc. They're all very subjective decisions, and it generally is all done with the goal of looking as much like the previous version of yourself, not anything new. And with modern technology and practices, people can get pretty damn close these days.
But yeah, just a few rapid-fire things I could imagine Bruce getting for Batman and non-Batman reasons: Rhinoplasty (revision or reconstructive), fillers (age-related volume loss in cheeks and lips, but very minimal), laser resurfacing/etc (he doesn't spend a ton of time in the sun but this helps him look younger for the cameras etc), botox (eyebrows, he scowls way too much without it, and maybe the corners of his mouth), reconstructive surgery (one bad hit across a cheekbone shattered it, the orbital bone above, and maybe his jaw/a few teeth?), scar revision (long thin scar at hairline from almost being scalped by a shattered cowl; tabloids play it off as a bad facelift scar if they see it heh), dental implants (slowly but surely, all of his teeth are replaced with titanium implants to avoid losing them all with one bad hit), and maybe a hair transplant in his later later years (expected of a billionaire, good work is much more available these days, modern tech keeps improving; if not a transplant then he probably eventually uses meds/minox. unless he's lucky enough genetically to hold onto all of it into his 70's a la Alfred (Jeremy Irons)).

Too tired to look at my phone. Too disturbed to be able to stomach plastic surgery ads. I hate that this is a thing doctors offices are allowed to do..?

ohm I know it’s not my business but I have always wanted to talk about beomgyu cuz he’s my bias but that shuns out real quick
ooh tell me more! sometimes i think he's has a nose job bc it looks like every other idols' nose lmao, but it looks the same in his predebut pics to me!! so i just think he was born with the ~idol~ nose lol.
but pls tell me ur thoughts!!
disclaimer: ofc this is none of my business its just fun to talk about. im all for anyone getting whatever surgery they want, especially if it makes them feel more confident and beautiful. i rly think plastic surgery is actually kinda cool and is an art (ex: blake lively's gradual nose job is gorGEOUS)

It’s legitimately sad that she’s so painfully thin her sternum is visibly protruding and when asked about her weight loss, her retort is that actually she was drinking a lot when she weighed a bit more so actually she’s healthy NOW, so CHECKMATE.
Putting aside the fact that it’s rude as shit to ask someone about their weight, especially on the record as a reporter, that’s just so, so sad and in this case, “what about the children” is a reasonable response because my god is eating disorder social media back on the rise. Horrifying.
Watching her iterative hodgepodge of medical aesthetic treatments go to war with each other is similarly sad. In theory I’m in favor of bodily autonomy; I think in practice we’ve somewhat lost the plot when so many aspiring actors and social media stars are ordering the exact same facial features off a menu and women as young as 22 are being sold “preventative” Botox. (Not to mention the point made here and elsewhere that so many of these procedures treat features commonly associated with black women as desirable trends that can and should be easily discarded when the fashions change; disrespectful, racist, and gross on multiple levels.) This isn’t new; plastic surgery has been around more or less forever. It’s a lot more broadly accessible now, though, and the practice of treating it like maintenance akin to haircuts is certainly pretty new. (The number of celebrities who get routine micro-liposuction treatments to continually slim out the most errant suggestion of fullness in flesh might shock you. There’s a reason all those arms are so effortlessly smooth.)
Nobody, and certainly not celebrities, owes you disclosure about their weight, diet, surgeries, etc, but I do find it slimy when people like Ariana claim their brand-new faces are the result of “puberty” or “growing up” or “makeup” or when they proclaim they did that stuff then but certainly not now and wow they’re looking forward to aging, never mind that comment in a few years when they haven’t really done it. The vicious mocking that’s triggered by obvious medical aesthetic treatments is cruel and unacceptable, but that’s not what’s necessarily happening when you point out that this ain’t puberty, babes. I’m not sure how to thread that needle, but my god do we gotta work on it.
Anyway. Happy Tuesday I guess
i do not support all women because why the hell does ariana grande look like that. imagine you wait your entire life to play your dream character and then the movie looks like slop but more importantly you cannot move your facial muscles and your skin tone blends into your hair while all your features look...... shall we say.... aspiring to a race you were not born into <3

something im really appreciating, watching the olympics, is that while all the athletes are demigods that are absolutely at their physical peaks for each sport NONE OF THEM have instagram face. despite the homogenous nature of social media that’s been creeping into all media since the late 2000s all the athletes look so different. noses! jawlines! lips! eyes! everyone i see on tv looks like a real person and i am LOVING IT

Getting closer and closer to getting my loose skin removed- less than 3 months now until surgery 🙊
I do think I’m going to want a second surgery removing the loose skin on my arms and especially my armpit area, but I’m getting a tiny bit of lipo in my armpit with my belt lipectomy so maybe I can avoid that second surgery, we will see 🤷🏼‍♀️

what's blowing my mind is that people were having the buccal fat removal to make their cheeks gaunt like idk 3-4 years ago? and now everyone is adding filler after filler to their cheeks dkjsflgksjgfked
is it too late to admit that cosmetic surgeries or celebs, in 2024 (not all of them) are just looking similiar and similiar and dont even look human anymore or is that just me

velvette's skin is mostly plastic and doesn't grow body hair or produce odor, but the stretch marks and age lines she had when she was alive still crease the uncanny material of her body and do so again and again everytime she tries to replace a body part with one that's shiny and smooth, like as soon as Hell knows it's *her* body, her life's marks are imbued in it. even as a doll she still gains weight, her artificial skin and vinyl fat change and expand regardless of logic. she uses to her advantage that she can dismember herself at will to always have a standard, needle-thin torso to change into as soon as she notices any changes. she also replaces and redesigns body parts based on whatever's trendy, big butts or flat chests or foxy eyes or thin lips, everything is customizable. she's always fashionable. the diet her models are in is called "indefinite fasting". theyre already dead, why do they need to eat?

SABU is self conscious about his face, but he acknowledges that the plastic surgery & everything else that he would need to fix it would be so astronomical that he lives with it. his family has a bad stigma towards doctors, which is why it was never treated in the first place. it was never a matter of money to him, it was the fact that his father would judge him for going through the surgeries necessary to fix it. no matter how old that SABU gets, he will always hold a little bit of fear & a feeling of need to keep himself on his father's good side.
basically, he lives the way he does, because he wants to keep his father happy.

I think chan just got some real whiplash after moving from aussie to sk. Not to say there aren't beauty standards in Australia, but I feel like it's not nearly as strict, plus people here care way less, especially people outside the whole social media bubble. It's probably hard for him to adapt to koreas very strict views coming from a country like this.
maybe,, although he was very young. i'm not sure if the western entertainment industry is that different tbh. the pressure must be high in both,, physical image is such a large part of what they're selling

TW: Mentions of plastic surgery and suicide
Venice was born and raised on Knowhere, and her mother idolized Nevermore’s work as “Justice Incarnate”, leaving Venice to feel ignored and largely unloved.
Wanting to gain her mother’s approval, Venice vowed to live her life as closely to Nevermore’s as possible.
So, Venice began to alter her life to try to fit Nevermore’s mold. She watched clips of Nevermore that made the news to study her fighting style, completely changed her closet to dress like Nevermore, and even got plastic surgery to look more like Nevermore before going under an alias that was similar to Nevermore’s name.
This actually worked, filling Venice with a sense of pride and self worth.
Once her mother died, Venice felt like she’d wasted her whole life fighting a losing battle, only to have nothing left for herself (or of herself).
So, Venice vowed to find Nevermore and make her pay for the hell she indirectly put her through.
But, her first confrontation with Nevermore ended in her being so overwhelmed by defeat that she committed suicide.
Venice was later revived in The War Saga, but she was revived with her own face, no plastic surgery included.
This, however, didn’t magically solve Venice’s issues, and Nevermore made it her mission to help Venice find her sense of self again. So, the two grew to become allies, and even friends.
Meanwhile, her job at S.H.I.E.L.D. introduced her to Giffany, who she eventually grew feelings for, and after Giffany’s succubus reveal, the two ended up dating.

i love it when certain people are known or pat themselves on the back for being normal about taylor but are actually just parasocial in completely different ways. there’s genuinely like only 2-3 normal taylor bloggers and all the rest just have just as weird of a parasocial relationship as the rest of us and are just as bad about projecting. it’s just funnier to watch them because they try and act so high and mighty and above all else but are too stupid to realize they’re looking in a mirror.
like how are you going to sit there and act like your any better than us when you’re speculating on what travis wants in his relationship in taylor and that he’s actually just using taylor for the connections and waiting for her to get bored and dump him?

just because you're getting a surgeon to do your self-harm for you doesn't make it not self-harm
elective surgery is still surgery and comes with risks of scarring, numbness, decreased mobility, pain during recovery from surgery and also afterwards, infection, poisoning if anything is implanted, and can potentially be fatal
and you definitely shouldn't be promoting it to other people just like you shouldn't other forms of self-harm
