At my beloved friend lavenderandkpop's recommendation, I started doing yoga about a month or so ago after I jacked up my back real bad lifting wrong. More lore-building events have occurred since then, including myself being unlucky enough to get a stomach ulcer, so I took time to recooperate until just a few days ago when I thought I better get back to it to ease anxiety. Stomach ulcer made my period completely disappear to the point I'd accepted I'd likely skip but after doing some yoga for a few days now, some of it unintentionally targeting the pelvis, I think my luck is about to change (sparing graphic details, you're welcome.) And I'm amazed but also kinda shocked? Yoga is badass!

Gideon has anemia from not eating properly on the train (an more importantly as a trans man and his period (and becauseI have this too and I want someone to suffer with me)). During his period he bleeds heavily and that leads to him loosing too much iron and thus he over heats but is actually really cold (for him at least) to the touch.

Kremy discovers this while traveling and Gid almost collapses because he doesn't realize what's happening. Kremy almost doesn't either until he realizes that they skipped a hearty breakfast that day and assumed he was just weak from a lack of food, so Kremy made a meal plan prioritizing nutrition, adjusting it along as they need eventually getting something that has tons of iron. Not that either of them notice.

They only learn that the lightheadedness and weird cold-to-touch-but-feels-hot thing was because of Gid's Iron-deficiency once Gideon trusts the rest of the group with knowing he's trans. Frost puts two and two together (this is because I headcanon that the school frost went to had a very comprehensive health course (frost also asks why he didn't realize this sooner because this sort of anemia caused by your period brings incredibly painful cramps. Gideon just says it wasn't any pain he wasn't used to)

This is a true fact.

Me transferring all my period pain to the Krew but then reading this ask and feeling a little bad about it so i give it all to Kremy instead.

I imagine that his fire genasi blood (aka burn through food twice as fast blood) doesn't help in that regard either. Also the pain would be harder to get rid of I'd think cause when you have dysmenorrhea usually you get heating pads but, well, he is made of fire. He can't get much hotter than that.

Kremy definitely learned a lot though about finding foods that seemed to lessen the pain or at least the other symptoms. After getting to talk with gricko and frost he learned about different plants that he could include to help soothe the pain better. And you know, maybe he picks up some chocolates too. Dark chocolate specifically, he heard that it's good for you and also a common craving. Even if he doesn't really understand that, being unable to eat it without feeling sick.

(Also friendly reminder to people who get periods, your pain shouldn't be debilitating! You shouldn't have a major increase in depression or wooziness or anything like that! Defo bring it up with your doctor!!)

zadr headcanons! (Part 2.)

• Dib wraps his arms around Zim when he cooks. and gives him neck kisses. He probably got Z one of those “kiss the cook” aprons.

• Zim often shows his love for Dib through cooking/baking. Be like.

• Dib has tried to cook for Zim before, but it always ends in disaster. Zim appreciates the thought, tho.

• Dib gets really clingy when hes tired. he will not let Zim go. Same applies to Zim.

• Dib one of the few people to have ever seen Zim with gloves off, and thinks that his little toe beans are cute af (I hc that Irkens have those.) Zim becomes flustered anytime Dib gushes over his cute little toe beans. (He secretly likes it though. But don’t tell anyone that.)

• Zim takes care of Dib when he’s got cramps. He may not understand, but he still tries to help. Dib insists that every is fine (it’s not.) and Zim can see right through him. Be like:

“I’m fine! I promise!” (hes not.)

“Dib. Please shut up. You are BLEEDING. let me take care of you.” And then Dib finally gives in.

Zim will rub his back and stomach and stuff. And get him the heat pad. and give them all their favorite sugary foods. and plenty of painkillers. edit: I forgot to mention that Zim will also give dib kisses on his stomach to try and them feel better. Zim also gives him kisses on the forehead too.

Dib also takes care of Zim when he’s sick :) (theyre both gonna get sick at that rate.)

• Despite having a loving bf, they both still relapse sometimes. But they help each other out. (Ex: Zim wash Dib’s hair, Dib will help Zim get out of his slump. bc he knows what’s that’s like.)

• They both are terrified of cockroaches (despite zim being a literal space cockroach.) but Dib will get off his ass and take the damn thing outside or just kill it. And go “ERTEWDEEDWSF 😰” the whole time. And then Zim will disinfect everything like the clean freak he is.

• Zim lends Dib his coats and vice versa . they don’t like seeing the other cold.

• Zim is always like “miiiineee” when it hugs/ cuddles Dib.

• Dib bonks Zim with cardboard tubes.

• They break into each other’s windows and cuddle at night.

• Anytime Zim comes back Dib’s always like “ONG I MISSED U SM!! 0//0 :D” and hugs him like they haven’t seen xem in years. Zim’s like “I was only gone for twenty minutes Dibby…” same applies to Zim. • Sometimes spend time together in the bathroom during lunch. they just cuddle and kiss each other alone. And chat. Zim likes it because it’s nice and quiet, he usually feels overwhelmed.

• Zim steals Professor Membrane’s car despite not being legally old enough to drive on Earth yet. And him and Dib go for late night joy rides. (I mean. Zim can drive a spaceship. it would make sense for it to know how to drive a car.) they somehow don’t get caught by tge cops and they blast deftones and shit. and they go get food late night. usually suck monkeys (zim grew a tolerance to them.)

• Zim enjoys giving gifts to Dib. Dib does the same. • Zim did Dib’s top surgery as an early birthday present a few weeks before Dib turned 13. He poured many hours of research into it. (I mean… Z does dissections and shit. I’m sure he could figure how to do d’s top surgery lol.) Dib was very pleased. :)

• they made each other matching Kandi bracelets and “married.” (just like little kids do.) prof membrane thinks it’s cute. :)

• they have the most chaotic ass DM’s imaginable. 7-7

• Dib helps Zim apply eyeliner. their just like “Hold still mkay.” • Zim has nightmares about Foodcourtia and greasy food. But Dib is there to comfort xem.

• Dib is always like “UM. He asked for NO meat/cheese.” Anytime restaurants get Zim’s order wrong. And demands a refund. • Zim licks Dib to show affection. Dib thinks it very cute (and also weird. but he loves that stupid bug anyway.)

• the old insults they used for each other are now pet names. (ex: spaceboy, dib-worm. Etc.)

• Zim gave Dib their lungs back. (And gave Keef his eyes balls back.)

• Dib sometimes wakes up only to find black kiss marks all over him and hes just like “ziiiimmmm” 😭

• Zim always tries to smell/look nice for Dib. Dib only tries if they’re on a fancy date or something.

• Zim is very high maintenance. Dib pretends to find it annoying but he secretly likes it.

• Zim’s lips constantly taste sweet because of all the goddamn sugar he eats. Dib likes it very much (they’d never admit or say that tho.)

• Zim started sleeping after it n dib got together (which was something that was only reserved for Tallests.)

• Zim has small stubby tail that xe usually keeps tucked into xyr clothes. But Dib thinks it’s adorable and tells xem that he doesn’t have to do that around him.

• Zim secretly likes Dib’s kind of stinky scent (hes not gonna admit that tho.) and finds it comforting.

(Even though Dib smells like fuckin onions and stale pizza rolls. With barely any deodorant and really shitty dollar store cologne that just makes him reek even more. Most of time. Sometimes he smells nice.)

Time, Hyrule and Four on the maybe know what it is.

Wind has no clue. Not yet.

No one is gonna let Wind near a period simulator on that same vein.

Legend and Warrior can't even handle it on easy.

Wild, Hyrule and Sky do better but can't get past a medium range.

Twilight handles it the best to be honest.

However Time has the best poker face. He's in agonizing pain but can steel his face to not react to it and he's not gonna tap out and appear weaker than some of the boys of the group. No sirie.

Four refuses to even try after seeing how the other boys react. He's the smart one that doesn't put himself in pain for no reason.

Lunar and Menstrual Cycles

I've been meaning to make a post about this for a very long time cuz I'm super passionate about it!!

Menstrual cycles in an individual are meant to line up on a 28-day cycle, just as the moon goes through hers. This doesn't always work out (gods know it doesn't for me!), but I still find it good to align with whatever phase my body happens to be in. I use a lot of breath and mantra work in my morning practice to attune to myself and the universe, and lining up with my infradian rhythm is one of the biggest ways I do it! I find it also helps make the whole process something to look forward to rather than dreading all of the changes that come with it (and cramps, and blood, and raging mood swings, etc.)

Here are a few pages from my grimoire:

Like the New/Dark moon in the Lunar cycle, the first and last day of the Menstrual cycle starts in, well, the Menstrual phase, and corresponds with the energy of Winter. This is the first day of bleeding where your hormones are at their lowest. This is when you are most grounded and need rest. Low-energy activities like walks, yoga, and chilling are best to give your body the space it needs. Tune into your needs, and be gentle with yourself as you move into the next phase.

Menstrual Mantras: I am aware, I release what does not serve me, I choose to rest, I breathe peace into my body

Moon Mantras: I am open to the Magick that each new beginning brings, I am confident in my intention and direction

Next is the Follicular phase. This starts the day after bleeding ends and slowly builds for about a week or so. It corresponds with the First Quarter and Waxing Gibbous phases of the Lunar cycle, and holds the energy of Spring. Hormone production is rising, and your mood and energy start to increase. This is the phase of planning, creativity, and intuition. Spend time with friends and family and get back into the swing of things!

Menstrual mantras: I am creative, I am always learning and growing, my potential is endless, I tune into my energy, body, and mind

Moon mantras: The actions I take lead my closer to my dreams, I am open to refining and adjusting my vision

The Ovulatory phase aligns with the Full moon and Waning Gibbous, and carries the energy of Summer. It takes place in the middle of the Menstrual cycle around day 14 or so. This is it! This is the Big Time! Your hormones build, peak for about 24-48 hours, and slowly release over the next week or so. Take part in high-energy activities like running, hiking, and sex***. This is when you are most powerful, and is the most spiritual phase in the cycle. Do some of that good witchy shit!

Menstrual mantras: I am open, I am powerful, I am connected, I allow myself to be seen

Lunar mantras: I fully embody my Magick and celebrate my progress, I am thankful for the lessons I have learned

***Unless you aren't on a form of birth control, aren't having protected sex, and/or aren't actively trying to get pregnant!!! This is when your body is most fertile, and roughly when implantation happens if you have unprotected sex!! So unless you're cycle planning for pregnancy, please be safe. This could be a whole post in itself lol

Lastly, your Luteal phase. This takes place after Ovulation and lasts up until bleeding starts. It corresponds with the Last Quarter and Waning Crescent phases of the Lunar cycle and Autumn. Estrogen and Progesterone are kicking into high gear (the PMS hormones), and this is where huge energy shifts take place. Pay greater attention to detail within yourself and your surroundings and be gentle with yourself. Start slowing down and release your emotions through journaling and introspection.

Menstrual mantras: I am supported, I nourish myself, I breathe in acceptance, not everything needs to be finished

Lunar mantras: I release the negative energy that binds me, I surrender to the universe and allow myself to rest

You shouldn't be so surprised to see the blood in your underwear- but you are. Between the unexpected quest and the busy schedule you've had to adjust to, you just have been way too busy to pay attention to when you'd next start your period.

Thankfully, you have a few pads in the bag that had travelers with you - but only three. And that isn’t really enough. But you have one for now.

(Thank God you carry a few emergency pads for yourself and others.)

After putting in ypur pad and washing your hands you return to the group. (At least the cramps, moodswing, and genral soreness makes more sense.)

You only walk another hour before you arrive at the inn in Hateno in Wild's hyrule. Rooms are rented, and you're paired up with Twilight.

The first thing you do is collapse into your bed, groaning as you let your body relax.

"You don't look so good, pumpkin." Twilight says as he sits on the edge of your bed.

"I don't feel so good." You admit.

"Can I help?"

"Not really..."

"What's going on?"

You look at him, trying to decide if it's even worth telling him about. He doesn't seem like the type of person to shame anyone about this kind of thing.

But still. It's a little embarrassing that you aren't better prepared and that whole- awful period symptoms ranging from cramps to killer headaches and vomiting.

And if you're a heavy bleeder? It's no wonder some people call it shark week.

"It's um-... I'm bleeding?" You blurt out- not sure how to word it or what people call it in his time.

"What? Where- (Y/n) you can't let yourself bleed without getting it looked at!"

Twilight is pale, and he's very obviously nervous. He looks like he might start trying to single handedly evolve an instant healing spell for anyone to use.

"It's not that!" Ypu say quickly, "It's just that time of the month."

Twilight blinks, taking a moment to process and calm down.

Then he all clicks for him.

"Oh! Oh. Wait, do you have enough stuff for it?"

"Not really. I'll have to grab more tomorrow-"

"I'll go! You don't have to. I know that- periods suck."

"You don't have to."

"I don't mind, (Y/n). Do you have anything in particular you need?"

You take a moment to consider his offer. It's sweet, really.

And you would appreciate not having to go get the things yourself.

Twilight offered. So it probably isn't an issue or a burden.

"If you're willing to go I'd appreciate that."

"Okay, what should I grab?"

You tell Twilight what it is you need. Painkillers, chocolate, a heating pad of some sort, and whatever you use to deal with the actual bleeding.

He just smiles, "I'll be back soon. Why don't you nap?"

"Thank you, Twilight."

"Of course."

You wake up to the door opening.

When you look over, you are relieved to find Twilight with a bag from the store. It seems to have everything you asked for.

"Hey there, bug." Twilight says softly, "You okay?"

"Just- ugh."

"I bet. Here, let's get some food in you."

Twilight pulls out one of your favorite snacks and hands it to you easily. He seems content just to take care of you.

After you've eaten and settled back down, you find yourself looking back to him.

"Can uh-" you aren't sure if it's weird to ask him for cuddles.

And more importantly do you care either way?

"Can we maybe cuddle?" You ask after a moment. Becuase really the worst he can say is no.

(Maybe a mean variation of no but that dosen’t seem like him.)

"If you're sure you don't mind that I smell like dirt."

"We all smell that way. It's fine, Twi."

He sets his pelt over his own bed before he makes his way over to you.

He sits on your bed, holding his arms open. He's letting you take the lead on this one, not sure of if and or where you hurt.

You move - tucking yourself under his chin and wrapping your arms around his torso. You curl into him, reveling in the warmth Twilight provides.

Twilight, move you both so you're lying down. You're on his chest while one of his hands moves back and forth across your back.

He's gentle with you. But he holds you firm, sure in his arms. He dosen’t force you to stay, but he dosen’t ask you to leave.

Twilight is one of those people who are just good at giving hugs.

"Thanks." You say after a while.

"Of course, I want you to feel better."

"I really appreciate that. And you."

Twilight laughs, amused, fond, and bashful all at once.

You find yourself struck by how much genuine care is in his eyes when he looks at you.

"Get some rest, I'll still be here later." He says before pressing a kiss to the top of your head.

You would argue - really you would... but it's very comfortable and you know that you're safe here.

Sleep claims you again quickly, but you know that you'll still be safe and cared for when you wake up.

One thing I’ve heard about my posts about asking for reassurance in healthier ways is that my scripts sound so “stiff” and not like real life. I’ve got this comment a few times. And that’s true for a lot of them. You’re not supposed to use them word for word. You’re supposed to change them for what they mean for you.

Here’s a real life example from today. I’m the “boring treble” (inside joke with my best friend) and I ask for reassurance. (I also want to point out that sometimes I am insecure about her specifically and we’ve talked about those situations. Here’s an example of that situation!)

But you can see in my example that it’s a lot more casual for me in real life! You can see that it’s kind of our thing to call stuff “tragic” and it’s light hearted but also genuine at the same time. And also, even though I asked for reassurance, her response is genuine and did reassure me.
