I would’ve loved that!
Worst thing about Abbott Elementary is that it's never been on the air at the same time as New Girl. It would've been the crossover of the century. RIP Jess Day, you would've loved Janine Teagues.

Gonna start posting about my new ocs on here! Yippie!!
(Drawings are ordered newest to oldest.)
A tad bit of info on this:
This is the first of probably a good handful of characters for an “art project” me and @dragoncontentconsumer (on Instagram,) are working on for funzies!
Most aspects are still very much up in the air. But what we got so far is that the story is centered around a crew of pirates made up of a giant mish-mash of mythical creatures and character tropes that normally aren’t in a pirate-esque series, and it’s structured like a mocumentary.
With this documentary crew coming in, the main character, Xavier Vahn Gilhid, (the character featured here, a mad scientist and an absolute mess,) thinks he’s in a sort-of TV spot where he’s being interviewed for “his life story” or for his “great adventures and inventions,” when in reality this documentary crew is filming him and his pirate crew for a show similar to ones you’d see on reality TV like “My Strange Addiction” where it features people who are just. ludicrous.
He’s always got a pretty worked out backstory but I’m not quite ready to share that yet <:)
(More on other characters including that pixie and the pickle jar later I think.)

Music Video Theory!!!
So in light of the new music video dropping instead of Rep TV I actually feel like the coming out documentary theory has a new leg to stand on!
First of all…..they have A LOT of behind the scenes footage so they’ve clearly been filming, and yes you’d expect it because it’s Taylor but it would still be for a purpose. I think the cameras are following her for the documentary/mocumentary that will reveal all this craziness to be her massive performance art. She’s said so many times she becomes what people want her to be. I feel like Blank Space walked so this potential documentary could run. I think she was finally so done with what everyone expects and wants of her, and in trying to meet those expectations she has completely shut out who she really is. And she’s done! So she is going out with this massive hurrah! I will become the thing everyone wants….the picture perfect pop star dating the guy on the football team….and then I will burn it all to the ground and finally be myself!
Taylor…..we are ready for it!!!!

seb have you ever seen "My Winnipeg". it's this like . kind of batshit insane mocumentary abt winnipeg canada . i feel like you'd enjoy it in some way just bc it's absolutely insane and nonsensical (also it looks like it was shot before color tv. it was produced in like 2007)
I have not but I do like mockumentaries so I will take it upon my list of "To Watch"
#i still have to see the velocipastor#i have seen elvis from outer space though#it's bad vani it's so ban Vanya its the worst “film'' I've ever seen I had to turn it off midway through and watch my fair lady#just so i could feel exercised from whatever that atrocity was

every time a new mocumentary show comes out and people on social media go “oh so it’s just the office but in a school” “great another office ripoff but now it’s in a hospital” like shut UPPPP it’s a whole genre that was unfortunately popularized by one (average) tv show

aside from anderson cooper do you mind giving us your Thoughts on other pundits/journalists?
Oooh boy. I love you for indulging my 2 decade-old hyperfixation.
Well first off, I don’t actually watch much legacy media for news purposes. They all have the same corporate slant and, while I don’t hold it against the individual pundits/journalists, I’m aware that the info they’re presenting is highly cherry-picked and biased toward the establishment and teaming with false neutrality bs so.. you know.
I got started watching cnn because I remembered being a little kid and seeing Anderson Cooper on tv when my parents were watching Katrina coverage or whatever. So I started watching him and then went back and watched some older stuff etc so… he was the initial deal. I just sort of started following other pundits for fun because of their proximity to him.
Also, disclaimer that I strongly prefer his older tv persona (war reports, snarkiness, grunge aesthetic, etc) and most of the PRT fandom content I’ve found has been from like 2005-2010 anyway so… most of these opinions are based on an outdated media sphere lol.
With all that being said…
When it comes to semi-modern stuff, I love the whole cnn crew. I think they’d be hilarious in a mocumentary a la The Office or something. John Berman is the funniest guy on the network and Jake Tapper has the best deadpan. Don Lemon was annoying and endearing at the same time. I never liked Chris Cuomo. He seemed pretension and way too dudebro-ish.
As far as PRT people specifically, Stephen Colbert is an absolute treasure. He’s ridiculously smart and quick witted but he’s never needlessly harsh like some late night hosts. I like him now better than when he was on The Colbert Report because he doesn’t have to play a character all the time and can just outright say what he feels.
Jon Stewart is probably the most progressive host on mainstream tv, which of course makes him delightful. He also has a way of calling out mainstream journalists without making it personal. And I still remember the time he went on Crossfire and humiliated Tucker Carlson <3.
Rachel Maddow seems like the coolest person in the room at all times and she’s so incredibly smart. But she has this thing where she seems to recognise (and call out) the conservative tendencies of other networks like cnn without realising that msnbc is no better when it comes to corporatism, upholding the status quo, and being anti-progressive. In fact, that’s something everybody on msnbc does, not just her. But I still have a soft spot for her though.
Keith Olbermann is the guy that used to be outspoken leftist champion in the very early 2000s- getting righteously angry when other dems were obsessed with decorum, clapping back at Fox pundits who tried to smear him, and saying things the dem establishment didn’t always want said. But somewhere between then and now he revealed himself to be a weird, immature, somewhat narcissistic asshole who can’t take any criticism and has somehow morphed into a centrist defender. It’s one of the most disappointing downfalls of the fandom. But despite all that, I still think of the day msnbc fired him as a national tragedy.
And I’m glad he got what was coming to him, but from a rpf perspective, I miss when Bill O’Reilly was the main villain 😂.
#this was so fun anon thanks for giving me an outlet#PRT#PRT fandom#pundit round table#rpf#real news fandom#fake news fandom#Anderson cooper#keith olbermann#Rachel Maddow#stephen colbert#jon stewart#oh to go back to 2007#actually you know what it was probably just as sucky back then#but it was the golden era of tv news punditry so I see it with rose colored glasses#anon#ask

I think a "mocumentary" episode should be a stock tv episode trope like time loop episodes or the episode where some protagonists shrink down and go into the body of a character or the body swap episode etc etc

Rob Reiner to Film This Is Spinal Tap Sequel in February 2024
This is NOT an Onion headline: Director Rob Reiner is going to begin production on the sequel to This is Spinal Tap, which turns 40 next year, in February 2024. The beloved cult film became the standard for all mocumentary comedies that followed. This one was insanely funny about a fictional British rock band and the cast was brilliant improve comedians featuring Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer and Michael McKean. Today you see mockumentaries all the time, where it is meant to look like a documentary but its actually comic-actors improvising (Guest himself has made quite a few), but at the time, this was very groundbreaking.
Since 1984, there hasn't been an official sequel. The band released a 1992 album Break Like the Wind and to coincide with it there was the TV movie A Spinal Tap Reunion: The 25th Anniversary London Sell-Out. There have also been various featurettes on DVD and digital. But this marks Reiner's return to the along with the band and they are even getting some cameos from Sir Paul McCartney and Elton John. I am so there!
The link above is the article from Variety.

Anthony’s Stupid Daily Blog (1022): Tue 7th Jan 2025
I was going to book my MRI scan today but the lass at the hospital had seemingly never heard of a private MRI scan before. The hospitals website clearly says that there’s a wing that deals with private MRI’s but every time I told this chick this she kept saying that I needed to be referred by a doctor. After I insisted their website said they did do private MRI scans she said she’d pass me over to someone else and after two minutes or so another person came in and told me that someone would contact me later on to arrange a booking. I still can’t get my head around how the first lass I spoke to was unaware that they take money for private MRI’s. I can’t be the first person that’s ever rang them to enquire about this. It’s not like an episode of House where I bring up a medical condition that three people have contracted since 1854 and she has to go to a library in Finland to look up the best treatment. Later on in the day I actually rang the hospital back, putting on a Birmingham accent and asked this lass about private MRI scans again and this time she confirmed that they did offer them so it looks like the information did get through although weirdly she was also putting on a different voice…a man’s voice.
Today I watched the first three movies to feature Sacha Baron Cohen’s comedy creations Ali G Indahouse, Borat and Bruno all of which are still fucking hilarious. The Ali G movie is the only one that’s not done in a mockumentary style and to be honest the humour in this movie feels the most forced but that’s okay when the character is as silly as Ali G. We will never know what an Ali G mockumentary movie would’ve looked like although I appreciate it wouldn’t have been possible since everyone in the UK knew who Ali G was by the time the movie came along. Maybe they could have done a story where Ali goes over to Los Angeles to try to join an actual gang but is so stupid he ends up joining the KKK or the Church of Scientology or something. However if they went this direction with the movie we wouldn’t have got Martin Freeman as a wannabe rudeboi gangsta which is perhaps the funniest case of acting against type in movie history. Richard Madaley makes a cameo appearance in the film and at this point everyone will have known about his infamously terrible Ali G impression. One thing I wish Cohen had done for the movie is tell Madaley they were going to film an Ali G-off between the two of them and have Madaley spend a whole day doing the shit impression but then reveal that they weren’t going to put it in the movie. Borat is still hilarious and today I learned that during the 2012 Olympics they accidentally played the fake Kazakhstan national anthem from this movie instead of the real one. I’ve seen the footage and I can’t tell if the athlete from Kazakhstan is pissed off or trying her best not to hold back laughter at the absurdity of the situation. The only problem with Borat is during the naked fight sequence where Borat chases Azamat down the hotel hallway and they end up brawling into a conference. It cuts from Borat in the hallway to inside the conference but why would there be a camera in there before Borat and Azarat went in? Finally Bruno is still fucking hilarious too. I can remember seeing this on the cinema with Dexter, Billy, Bannan and Cubby and all of us exiting the building feeling like we’d just gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson because we were so weak from laughter. The thing that makes me laugh the most about this movie is Lloyd the agent who is a real life Hollywood agent. The genuine anger in his face when confronted with Bruno’s buffoonery is amazing and I think after this movie came out he should’ve become a genuine actor because he’s one of the best comedy straight men I’ve ever seen and he did it completely unintentionally. Cohen has come up with a few new characters for his limited TV series Who Is America? but hasn’t made any new mocumentaries with new characters. Although there’s a possibility he might currently be making a movie where he plays an inept hospital receptionist who doesn’t know what kind of procedures are offered at the hospital he works at.
