If you think the main draw to Pride and Prejudice is "enemies to lovers with a rich man" then you've explicitly missed the point.

I didn’t mind them at fist but “Dumbo” is what made me call it quiets - especially when “Pinocchio” crashed and burned. “Little Mermaid” with Halle being the exception of course - and even that lost money because of its bloated budget. I’ll be honest it the CGI dwarfs didn’t creep me out so I would’ve given “Snow White” a chance

certain people like to act as though the little mermaid flopped just because it didn’t make $1billion dollars but it actually did quite nicely at the box office and in merch sales, mattel is still releasing new dolls even this year

i still haven’t seen snow white yet but hope to finally see it next week and, excluding gal gadot, i’m certain it’s not the train wreck people try and claim it is

Conversations like that are why intersectional feminism is so important. Emma was absolutely skewered and panned by the internet for her portrayal of Belle and labeled mediocre at best (which, not that I was a fan of her performance, but the scale of the backlash was a little overdone). Now years later that same “mediocre” performance is being used to attack a woman of color who is objectively more talented than Emma has ever been. All because Rachel’s skin isn’t pale white, the film gave her terrible hair and costume styling, and she’s politically outspoken. The internet loves to hate women but they will always prop up a white woman they hate over a woman of color that they hate. I hope Emma shows Rachel some solidarity during this difficult time for her.

unfortunately this is true. something that rachel said during the press tour is “that being the fairest of them all isn’t about the colour of your skin or how beautiful you are, it’s about who you are on the inside” and this just makes the complaints and hate people have over her casting look even more pathetic.

it would be nice if emma reached out to rachel. i know rachel and halle are good friends and halle will for sure continue to have her back, just as rachel has had hers 🩵
