In my AU, Vee is short for Viola, the name Camila gave her because her eyes reminded Camila of them

hmm. shadowpeach cult of the lamb au-ish where instead of being locked away for 500 years and freed by tripitaka, wukong was betrayed by the rest of the brotherhood (sans macaque) who surrendered to the celestial realm to avoid their punishment and held the 4 "seals" that prevented swk from escaping the mountain (which was put in a pocket dimension). swk decided to take matter into his own hand and slowly chipped away at the seals until he was able to send a message to macaque, however mac couldnt find a way to get to him.

Fortunately (?) because his name was erased from the book of the dead by wukong, his mortality is effectively "owned" by him, which means when he dies he'll just spawn back in the pocket dimension where swk is, and he can only be killed by wukong or if wukong is dead, which is impossible bc swk is Very Immortal haha dont worry about it 👍 but the thing is when erlang shen burned down the mountain while hunting Macaque the Escaped Rebel, mac died for the first time and finally got to swk. macaque was given the ruyi jingu bang and start to hunt down the old brotherhood to free wukong yadda yadda yadda. i have decided that peng would play the role of kallamar (coward who is So difficult to kill), yellow tusk would be heket who tried to convince mac that what they did was right, dbk would be leshy and azure would be shamura obvs

oh my fucking god i feel. SO stupid rn at How i didnt make the (super sane very normal just absolutely. Yes. Surely) connection earlier but uhh

so anyway im now like 89% certain that whatever the "traces" of the narwhal that remain on ajax and facilitate their (ever-growing) innate connection are like. an actually fundamental aspect of it (them?) more or less.

why? because if you consider its pov just for a moment. the narwhal was literally about to depart teyvat for good. it had nearly finished consuming the primordial sea and preparing to breach surface to finish the job by eating the french for the leftovers their human bodies were made from. its an interstellar voyager it does not linger on planets it devours. it goes glug glug and it leaves.

and like if it wasnt for traveler intervening its confirmed through narzissenkreuz and renes world formula that teyvat wouldve just been destroyed. no one could have stopped the narwhal not neuvillette not focalors not anyone.

so what was the one other thing it did right before going for that french brunch? calling for ajax. getting them reunited in the primordial sea. like all the possible implications aside bc theres many different ways to speculate on the exact reasons why and the nature of that link. the point remains.

Another day, another fight over Sun Wukong.

Of course, DBK mused, watching as his two sworn brothers stand in front of Wukong, fight wasn't a good word for it. Both Macaque and Azure were too refined for a proper fistfight over a man who would quickly shut that down. Instead, it was more like slight jabs that occasionally became a sword when Macaque really got out of his shell.

Yellowtusk was already pulling out the scoreboard.

Today, however, seemed different. Both Macaque and Azure had gifts for the golden monkey, like usual. They were already wounding up into the jabs and swords. However, Wukong looked strangely annoyed.

Was he in the middle of something? Usually, the two reserved to bother him when he wasn't doing anything, which was a lot of the time. However, there were moments like training or tending to his mountain where Wukong was busy.

Maybe...

DBK rose to his feet, ready to call out and suggest that Macaque and Azure give Wukong some space. Before he could speak, there was a loud "Oh, for crying-"

And then he was grabbing Azure's collar and yanking him down.

"Hm," Yellowtusk sighed. "I guess Azure wins." He wrote out a line.

Azure certainly looked like he was winning, based on his sheer look of delight. His gift, a scroll from the village across the bay, dropped to the ground, and his hands rose to grip Wukong tight. Wukong shifted his face, and a quiet moan slipped from one of them.

Macaque, meanwhile, looked like Wukong had yanked out his heart and stomped on it. DBK couldn't help the flare of pity as tears welled up in gold eyes. The monkey turned.

Before he could march away, Wukong pushed away from Azure. "Come here, you idiot," he said, grabbing Macaque's tail and yanking him close. Macaque chirped in surprise as he was turned around. "I want you both, I'm getting you both." And with that, Wukong was yanking Macaque down and into the same passionate kiss he had given Azure.

Yellowtusk and DBK blinked.

"Huh."

"Never mind," DBK glanced back in time to see the elephant erase the scores. Instead, he wrote down WUKONG. One thick line divided the board. "Wukong wins."
