My mlp hot take is that magic is literally tied to magic- or rather tied to the ponies feelings of community and their love for one another; not only that but every species of pony has magic; it just shows in different ways
Unicorns have the most raw form of magic and can manipulate it in the widest variety
Pegasi can fly, move clouds, and manipulate things like their weight and sense weather patterns
Earth ponies have magic tied to the earth and growing things, as well as innate strength and knowledge of what’s in the ground.
Even subtypes/subspecies of ponies have different abilities; like crystal ponies can manipulate and grow the crystals they surround them like clay or wax

#saw a reply to a post that was like#websites only have apps to get more ad revenue out of you#and like. what i had to say about this wasn't the point of the original post so I'm making my own#but Reddit's mobile site used to be perfectly good and engaging#now it's changed layouts and stuff and it looks like the app. which we despise and hate and find unintuitive and user-unfriendly#which means what in practice? we're not using the app we hate it. we're just not on Reddit if we're not on the computer (old Reddit beloved#but it's not losing them ad revenue because we use an ad blocker so they probably don't give a shit either way#:/#saltposting#actually ETA I think a lot of things we hate about the Internet under late stage capitalism is. why does everything have to change layouts#all the time#for no good reason#like if it works there's no need to fix it#but nooo endless growth blah blah blah maximise user engagement blah blah blah money etc#how about retain the users you already have by remaining what they liked about you in the first place. ever think about stability?#there is a reason why we have autoupdates turned off on our phone and there's like 5 apps that are FORBIDDEN to update#Tumblr because we don't like the overhauls to the notes section (the ones where they're coloured differently based on read/unread#instead of on people you follow/don't follow)#Discord because the new layout looks like absolute shit and having DMs separate from servers would be hell for our processing#and ability to respond to both#our red filter app because it's gonna stop filtering wallpaper to comply with Android regulations and that's a no from us#are the main three but I think there might be others I'm not thinking of#anyway. yeah#I wish for predictable apps that don't suddenly throw new layouts at you every time you've finally gotten used to the last change#I don't wanna be kept on my toes real life does enough of that. #stuff like this happens all the time#every time we talk i realise that we're growing up in two completely different times#also he moves through apps#every time i mention something a website or some other thing you can find online#he asks what app is that#and I'm like baby no#the world is not made of apps#apps in the way they exist today are younger than you#or all the streaming platforms#i looked for a (definitly legal) movie in front of him the other day and i played it to check the quality#because him and his mom wanted to watch it and couldn't find it#and all he said was On what platform did you find it#i was like I'm gonna tell you a story#✨the story of internet in the early 2000✨#listen we grew up with internet meaning that the internet has grown with us which means that we know it#we know how to be safe on it we know what to do and what not to do we understand when something is real and when something is not#the problem with all these new generations is that yes they know how to use a phone since year one but in reality they have no idea about#the internet they have no idea about what they hold in their hands they have no idea about what they can do with it#what the hell they don't even know how to access the internet#they don't know websites they don't know every app is actually a website#the same nephew once turned on a computer and was so lost and disappointed he asked me#is there YouTube on this thing?#my child! you have the world at your hands and you're asking me if there is youtube in it#and yes of course he's a child he need to be thought stuff abd you're right#but also not if it makes sense#at least in my experience i was left completely alone on the internet and yes i was probably watched at a distance from my older siblings#but i was given the space and time to explore it at some point i had my very own computer i was on socials at a very young age#most of the people my own age where#and we were way more responsible with it#idk where am i going with this i don't really have a point

it's also sooo so cool getting all these shitty tumblr live updates while my app has been broken for well over a month at this point. media autoplay is turned off for me and can't be turned back on and i've been going back and forth with support since it started and literally nothing they have suggested has done anything. and now they've just stopped responding for the past almost two weeks.
#they were circling back to the same original suggestions in the most recent responses#like they're just fucking out of ideas for how to fix it#i know the people creating updates for the website/app are not the same people running support#like this update (theoretically) isn't affecting how soon my support ticket is responded to#but it's still frustrating#the app keeps changing and my shit is still broken#j.txt#i just fucking miss being able to view gifsets without clicking every single one!!#and i miss being able to watch videos without tapping on them and turning on the sound!!!!#i miss autoplay!!!!!

GUESS WHO FINALLY CONVINCED HIS PARENTS TO LET HIM DELETE A MASSIVELY BATTERY-DRAINING, CONSTANTLY-MALFUNCTIONING PARENTAL CONTROLS VPN THAT HAD BEEN ON HIS PHONE FOR ≥6 YEARS!!!!!
#I am a WHOLE ADULT & it STILL took negotiating with my parents that I'll pursue Life Goals for this basic freedom but this is still a Win#TIL that whenever I told my parents what a dysfunctional battery-drain qustodio is mom assumed I was lying to convince her to get rid of it#or at the very least greatly exaggerating. but nope it was really that shitty (and really easy to work around)#that shit used to delete all apps except factory default EVERY NIGHT & return them to the home screen in the morning completely disorganized#it also blocked any websites or apps my parents hadn't whitelisted and imposed time limits on the ones they had#all this time I've had to use tumblr by turning the vpn off every minute or so when it automatically switches back on. hellish#even now I keep habitually checking if it's on before I hit post to make sure my typing won't just be lost#another perk is that I don't have to worry about my parents seeing every website I go to or search term I search#they can still see all my texts and get notifications when I text a number they haven't approved but who cares lol#I'm free!!!#mossy’s musings
