I'm sorry to be bugging you about this again and I know this might seem like a silly question, but bear with me.
When you say lobotomy, do you mean, like
full-on irreversible, medically-induced physical brain damage? :'D
(very much enjoyed the last update by the way, tysm for your hard work on this comic)
medically induced is streching it, but yeah

Neuro-Navigation System: Transforming Surgery with Precision and Accuracy
Tumblr media
Enhancing Surgical Outcomes with Real-time Brain Mapping Neuro-Navigation System are computer-assisted technologies that provide real-time anatomical guidance to neurosurgeons during complex brain surgeries. These navigation platforms integrate preoperative MRI or CT scans of the patient's brain with intraoperative tracking of surgical instruments and anatomical landmarks. By continuously correlating the position and trajectory of instruments with the patient's neuroanatomy, they allow surgeons to precisely locate pathology and critical structures during the procedure. This enhances surgical precision and safety, minimizing risks of neurological injury. Neuro-Navigation System platforms work by registering the preoperative images with the patient's physical position in the operating room. Surgeons attach reference markers or sensors to the patient's head that are tracked intraoperatively by the navigation system using electromagnetic or optical localization techniques. This allows the system to spatially correlate the position of surgical tools, tracked in real-time, with the underlying neuroanatomy on the imaging scans. As surgeons interact with the patient, the images are updated on the navigation monitor to show the surgeons' viewpoint and instrument trajectory in the context of the patient's individual neuroanatomy. Improving Tumor Resection and Treatment Accuracy A primary use of neuro-navigation is to aid maximal and safe resection of brain tumors. By overlaying the tumor boundaries on live images tracked during surgery, neuro-navigation allows surgeons to precisely target the tumor margins. This facilitates complete excision while avoiding damage to adjacent eloquent areas and critical structures. Studies show neuro-navigation enhances the extent of resection, particularly for deep-seated and complex tumors close to functionally vital areas. It has also improved treatment accuracy in tumor biopsy and placement of catheters for interstitial therapies. Neuro-navigation thus positively impacts oncological outcomes by optimizing the efficacy of initial tumor treatment. Enabling Precise Electrode Placement in Functional Neurosurgery Advanced Neuro-Navigation System are increasingly used in stereotactic functional neurosurgery procedures like deep brain stimulation (DBS). DBS involves precisely implanting thin electrodes within targeted brain nuclei to modulate neuronal activity for treatment of movement and neuropsychiatric disorders. Neuro-navigation transforms the accuracy and efficiency of electrode targeting by fusing preoperative MRI/CT with real-time intraoperative tracking of implant trajectories. This facilitates customized, individualized targeting of small brain structures for optimal therapeutic effects. Neuro-navigation enhances the precision of DBS electrode placement, lowering risks of neurological side effects from inaccurate targeting. It has become a standard of care for modern DBS and advanced neuromodulation procedures. Streamlining Complex Cranial Procedures Complex cranial surgeries like aneurysm clipping, AV malformation resection, and tumor resections close to skull base and vasculature also benefit tremendously from neuro-navigation. By overlaying structures like venous sinuses, aneurysm sacs, and neurovasculature onto live images, it aids intricate dissection and maneuvering around critical anatomical areas. Neuro-navigation streamlines these intricate procedures, minimizing risks of iatrogenic injury. It also facilitates image-guided endovascular procedures like aneurysm coiling by correlating live catheter position with aneurysm anatomy during the intervention. As cranial surgeries continue advancing into minimally invasive, endoscopic, and robotic domains, neuro-navigation will remain indispensable for optimizing outcomes.

CyberKnife Treatment Cost in India: Understanding the Benefits and Affordability
CyberKnife treatment is one of the most innovative and non-invasive options for treating cancer and other neurological conditions. This advanced robotic technology uses high-precision radiation to target tumors with minimal disruption to surrounding tissues. It has gained significant attention for its effectiveness in treating cancers, particularly in patients who may not be suitable candidates for traditional surgery.
India has become a popular destination for CyberKnife treatment due to its world-class medical facilities, highly skilled oncologists, and affordable treatment costs. For international patients, the cost of CyberKnife treatment in India is significantly lower compared to Western countries, making it an attractive option for those seeking high-quality care at an affordable price.
In this article, we will explore the factors affecting the cost of CyberKnife treatment in India, its benefits, and why it is considered a leading option for cancer treatment.
What is CyberKnife Treatment?
CyberKnife is a non-invasive radiation therapy technique that uses highly focused beams of radiation to treat tumors. Unlike conventional radiation therapy, which delivers radiation to a larger area, CyberKnife’s robotic technology allows precise targeting of tumors, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.
CyberKnife can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including:
Cancerous Tumors: CyberKnife is effective in treating tumors located in difficult-to-reach areas, including the brain, spine, lungs, liver, pancreas, and prostate.
Benign Tumors: It can also treat benign growths that require intervention due to their size or location.
Non-Cancerous Conditions: Some neurological conditions, such as arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) or trigeminal neuralgia, may also be treated with CyberKnife.
The treatment process is non-invasive, does not require any surgical incisions, and typically involves minimal discomfort, making it an ideal option for patients who wish to avoid traditional surgery.
Factors Influencing CyberKnife Treatment Cost in India
The cost of CyberKnife treatment in India varies depending on several factors. On average, the treatment cost in India ranges from INR 4,50,000 to INR 15,00,000, which is significantly lower than the cost of similar treatments in countries like the United States, the UK, and Australia. Let’s look at the factors that influence the overall cost:
1. Hospital and Location
The cost of CyberKnife treatment depends on the hospital’s location and reputation. Hospitals in major metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Chennai tend to be more expensive due to their advanced medical technology and specialized facilities. However, smaller hospitals or clinics may offer more affordable rates while maintaining high standards of care.
Hospitals accredited by international organizations, such as the Joint Commission International (JCI) or the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), tend to charge a premium for their services due to the quality of care they provide.
2. Type and Location of the Tumor
The cost can also vary based on the type of tumor being treated and its location. Tumors in harder-to-reach areas, like the brain or spinal cord, may require more precise treatment, and the number of sessions may vary, affecting the overall cost.
If a patient requires multiple treatment sessions (also known as fractions), the total cost may increase. Some tumors may require a single session, while others may need up to five sessions, depending on the tumor’s size and location.
3. Surgeon’s Expertise
The expertise and experience of the radiation oncologist or neuro-oncologist performing the CyberKnife procedure will also influence the cost. Experienced specialists who have a successful track record with CyberKnife treatment may charge higher fees, but their expertise ensures better outcomes for patients.
Renowned doctors in India, such as Dr. Sandeep Vaishya, who is highly experienced in performing complex neurosurgical and radiotherapy procedures, are sought after by patients looking for high-quality care.
4. Technology and Equipment Used
CyberKnife treatment requires advanced equipment and technology. The hospitals using the latest, most sophisticated CyberKnife machines may charge more for the treatment due to the cost of maintaining these high-end devices. However, these hospitals typically provide the best possible precision in radiation delivery, ensuring the best outcomes for patients.
5. Post-Treatment Care
Post-treatment care is an important aspect of the treatment process, and the overall cost includes not only the treatment itself but also the follow-up consultations, medications, and any necessary rehabilitation or recovery procedures. This ensures the patient’s full recovery and helps to minimize the risk of side effects or complications after the treatment.
Benefits of CyberKnife Treatment
CyberKnife treatment offers several advantages over traditional cancer treatments, such as surgery or conventional radiation therapy:
1. Non-Invasive
CyberKnife is a completely non-invasive procedure, meaning there are no cuts or incisions required. The treatment is pain-free, and there is no need for anesthesia, making it a less stressful option for many patients.
2. High Precision
CyberKnife uses advanced robotics to deliver highly precise radiation beams, allowing the oncologist to target tumors with exceptional accuracy. This ensures minimal damage to healthy tissue, reducing the risk of side effects.
3. Short Treatment Time
CyberKnife treatment typically involves a shorter duration than traditional methods. In most cases, it can be completed in just a few sessions, often over the course of a few days, rather than weeks or months, as with other treatments.
4. No Hospital Stay
Patients undergoing CyberKnife treatment can usually return home on the same day as the procedure. Since it is a non-invasive treatment, there is no need for an overnight hospital stay, which can further reduce the overall cost of the treatment.
5. Ideal for Inoperable Tumors
CyberKnife is particularly beneficial for patients with tumors located in areas that are difficult to access surgically, such as near critical organs or the spinal cord. It provides an effective treatment option for patients who may not be candidates for traditional surgery.

Exploring Diverse Applications of Stereotactic Radiosurgery:
The versatility of stereotactic radiosurgery spans various neurological conditions, providing personalized solutions for patients with different medical challenges. Notable applications include:
1. Brain Tumors: Stereotactic radiosurgery plays a vital role in treating both malignant and benign brain tumors. Whether addressing high-grade gliomas, meningiomas, or pituitary adenomas, SRS offers a non-invasive approach to reducing or eliminating tumors while preserving neurological function and quality of life.
2. Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs): AVMs are abnormal clusters of blood vessels in the brain that increase the risk of hemorrhagic strokes. Stereotactic radiosurgery presents a compelling alternative to traditional surgical removal, allowing clinicians to destroy AVMs with targeted radiation while minimizing procedural risks.
3. Trigeminal Neuralgia: This condition causes severe facial pain and presents challenges in pain management. Stereotactic radiosurgery offers relief for patients who do not respond to medical therapy by selectively targeting the trigeminal nerve and disrupting abnormal pain signals.
4. Movement Disorders: Essential tremor and Parkinson's disease can significantly affect quality of life. Stereotactic radiosurgery allows clinicians to modulate neural circuits involved in these disorders, reducing symptoms and restoring functional independence for patients who have exhausted conventional treatments.
Unveiling the Benefits of Stereotactic Radiosurgery:
Adopting stereotactic radiosurgery brings several advantages to neurological care:
1. Minimally Invasive: Stereotactic radiosurgery eliminates the need for traditional surgery, reducing surgical risks, recovery time, and postoperative complications. This approach enhances patient comfort, promotes quicker recovery, and allows patients to resume normal activities sooner.
2. Precision: Utilizing advanced imaging and targeting technologies, stereotactic radiosurgery delivers radiation with exceptional precision, sparing healthy tissues while effectively treating lesions. This precision lowers the risk of treatment-related complications and improves therapeutic outcomes.
3. Expedited Treatment: Unlike conventional radiation therapy, which may require prolonged treatment over weeks or months, stereotactic radiosurgery typically involves only one to a few treatment sessions. This shorter treatment timeline improves patient convenience, compliance, and minimizes disruptions to daily life.
4. Versatility: Stereotactic radiosurgery can address a wide range of neurological conditions, offering tailored treatments for each patient's specific needs. This versatility highlights SRS as an adaptable therapeutic approach capable of meeting diverse patient requirements across the neurological spectrum.
There are many good hospitals in Mumbai that offer stereotactic radiosurgery followed by regular health checkups to check the success of treatment and also detect and manage any complications due to the procedure, such as a full body health checkup at Jaslok Hospital Mumbai.

"A medical technology company in Australia is aiming for a world-first: it wants to launch a blood test for endometriosis (sometimes called 'endo' for short) within the first half of this year [2025].
In a recent peer-reviewed trial, its novel test proved 99.7 percent accurate at distinguishing severe cases of endometriosis from patients without the disease but with similar symptoms.
Even in the early stages of the disease, when blood markers may be harder to pick out, the test's accuracy remained over 85 percent.
The company behind the patent, Proteomics International, says it is currently adapting the method "for use in a clinical environment," with a target launch date in Australia for the second quarter of this year [2025].
The test is called PromarkerEndo.
"This advancement marks a significant step toward non-invasive, personalized care for a condition that has long been underserved by current medical approaches," managing director of Proteomics International Richard Lipscombe said in a press release from December 30.
Endometriosis is a common inflammatory disease that occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows in other parts of the body, forming lesions. The disease can be very painful, and yet the average patient often suffers debilitating symptoms for up to seven years before they are properly diagnosed.
While there are numerous reasons for such a long delay, symptoms of endometriosis are often highly variable, unpredictable, difficult to measure or describe, and dismissed or overlooked by doctors.
Today, the only definitive way to diagnose endometriosis is via keyhole surgery called a laparoscopy, which is expensive, invasive, and carries risks.
Proteomics International is hoping to change that.
In collaboration with researchers at the University of Melbourne and the Royal Women's Hospital, the company compared the bloodwork data from 749 participants of mostly European descent.
Some had endometriosis and others had symptoms that were similar to endo but without the lesions. All participants had a laparoscopy to confirm the presence or absence of the disease.
Sifting through the bloodwork, researchers ran several different algorithms to figure out which proteins in the blood were best at predicting endometriosis of varying stages.
Building on previous research, a panel of 10 proteins showed a "clear association" with endometriosis.
For years now, scientists have investigated possible blood biomarkers of endometriosis to see if they could differentiate between those who have endo and those who do not. Similar to cancerous tumors, endo lesions can establish their own blood supply, and if cervical cancer can be diagnosed via a blood test, it seemed possible that endometriosis could be, too...
Proteomics International claims patents for PromarkerEndo are "pending in all major jurisdictions," starting first in Australia.
It remains to be seen if the company's blood test lives up to the hype and is approved by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). But that's not outside the realm of possibility.
In November of 2023, some researchers predicted that a "reliable non-invasive biomarker for endometriosis is highly likely in the coming years."
Perhaps this is the year."
-via ScienceAlert, January 9, 2025
--
Note: As someone with endometriosis, let me say that this is a HUGE deal. The condition is incredibly common, incredibly understudied, and incredibly often dismissed. Massive sexism at work here.
I got very lucky and got diagnosed after about 6 months of chronic pain (and extra extra lucky, because my pain went away with medication). But as the article says, the average time to diagnosis is seven years.
Being able to confirm endometriosis diagnoses/rates without invasive surgery will also lead to huge progress in studying/creating treatments for endo.
And fyi: If you have a period that is so painful that you can't stand up, or have to go home from school/work, or vomit, or anything else debilitating (or if any of those things apply if you forget to take pain meds), that is NOT NORMAL, and you should talk to a competent gynecologist asap.

the central thesis of doppelgänger fear isn't "this thing that looks and acts like me is going to replace me" it's the terrible intimacy of being truly seen and understood without borders. being forced to confront that you are your own mother and father and god and yourself in all its totality. there is nowhere you can hide that a doppelgänger cannot find within itself. the fear of replacement is a response to that invasion. it isn't the spider-shaped tumor moving towards the center of the web where until recently you sat comfortably, unthreatened, but the tremors reverberating through the silken strands that its approaching footsteps cause.

Why Gamma Knife Surgery in India is the Affordable Choice for Brain
When it comes to treating brain conditions like tumors, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and neurological disorders, patients are often faced with a tough decision: Should they opt for traditional brain surgery, or consider a less invasive, cutting-edge treatment like Gamma Knife surgery?
While Gamma Knife surgery has been a game-changer in neurosurgery due to its precision and non-invasive nature, the cost of the procedure can be a significant factor for many patients. If you're considering this treatment, you might be wondering whether it’s affordable, and if so, how to go about it.
Here’s some good news: Gamma Knife surgery in India offers the same high-quality care at a fraction of the price compared to other countries, making it an increasingly popular choice for patients around the world. In this blog, we’ll walk you through why India has become a hotspot for Gamma Knife surgery, and what you can expect when it comes to costs.
What is Gamma Knife Surgery?
Gamma Knife surgery isn’t actually “surgery” in the traditional sense. Instead of using scalpels and making incisions, this non-invasive procedure uses precise beams of radiation to target and treat brain conditions. It's primarily used for:
Brain tumors (benign or malignant)
Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs)
Trigeminal neuralgia
Other brain disorders and certain functional neurological conditions
The key benefit of Gamma Knife is that it’s extremely precise. Doctors can deliver focused radiation directly to the tumor or abnormal tissue, sparing healthy areas of the brain. This means fewer complications, faster recovery, and no long hospital stays.
So, how does the cost fit into all of this?
Understanding the Cost of Gamma Knife Surgery in India
Gamma Knife surgery is known for its cost-effectiveness in India, especially when compared to the steep prices seen in countries like the United States, Canada, or the UK. Here’s a quick breakdown:
Cost Range in India: The cost typically ranges from INR 3,00,000 to INR 10,00,000 (around USD 3,600 to USD 12,000), depending on the complexity of the condition being treated.
Cost in Western Countries: In the US, for example, Gamma Knife surgery can cost between USD 30,000 and USD 100,000 or more, depending on the hospital and region.
The affordability of Gamma Knife surgery in India has made the country a medical tourism hub, drawing patients from around the globe who are looking for high-quality care at a reasonable price.
What Factors Affect the Cost of Gamma Knife Surgery in India?
While the price is significantly lower in India, it still varies depending on several factors. Here are the key ones:
Location of the Hospital: The cost of treatment can vary based on the location of the hospital. Major cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bangalore tend to have higher costs due to the advanced technology available and the high demand for healthcare. However, hospitals in smaller cities may offer competitive pricing without compromising on quality.
Type and Complexity of the Condition: The severity of the condition being treated plays a role in determining the cost. For example, a simple, benign tumor may cost less to treat compared to a larger or more complex tumor. Additionally, if multiple treatment sessions are required, this could increase the total cost.
Hospital Reputation and Technology: Reputed hospitals with state-of-the-art technology and internationally trained surgeons may charge a premium for their services. However, many hospitals in India that offer Gamma Knife treatment are accredited and provide excellent outcomes, making them a worthy investment.
Pre- and Post-Treatment Costs: Many hospitals offer all-inclusive packages that cover diagnostic tests, radiation therapy, follow-up consultations, and sometimes even accommodation and transportation. However, some institutions may charge separately for certain services, so it’s important to clarify all potential costs upfront.
Insurance Coverage: For international patients, many Indian hospitals work with global insurance companies. Some may offer direct billing for insurance, while others might require payment upfront. Always confirm the insurance coverage and check with your provider to ensure your treatment is covered.
Why Choose India for Gamma Knife Surgery?
Beyond the cost, there are several reasons why India has become a top destination for patients seeking Gamma Knife treatment:
Affordable Treatment Without Compromising Quality: India offers Gamma Knife surgery at a fraction of the cost found in Western countries, yet the quality of care is world-class. Many hospitals in India are accredited by international organizations like JCI (Joint Commission International), ensuring they adhere to global healthcare standards.
Advanced Technology and Expertise: Many Indian hospitals are equipped with the latest medical technology, including the Gamma Knife. Additionally, India boasts a large number of highly skilled neurosurgeons and radiation oncologists who are trained at some of the world’s most renowned medical institutions.
Quick Access to Treatment: One of the significant advantages of receiving treatment in India is the reduced wait time. In many countries, waiting for specialized treatments like Gamma Knife surgery can take weeks or even months. In India, patients often have quicker access to appointments and treatments.
Comprehensive Medical Tourism Support: India’s medical tourism industry has grown significantly over the past decade. Many hospitals offer medical tourism packages, which can include not just the treatment but also assistance with travel, accommodation, and visa arrangements. This makes the process smoother for international patients.
Post-Treatment Care: The level of care doesn't stop once the Gamma Knife treatment is over. Hospitals in India provide excellent follow-up care, ensuring that patients have access to all the support they need during recovery.
Key Considerations Before Choosing Gamma Knife Surgery in India
While India offers an affordable and reliable option for Gamma Knife surgery, there are a few things you should keep in mind:
Research Hospitals Thoroughly: Ensure the hospital you choose is accredited and has experience with Gamma Knife treatments.
Consult with Experts: Before making any decisions, consult with a medical professional to determine if Gamma Knife surgery is the right choice for your condition.
Get a Second Opinion: If you're traveling from another country, it’s always a good idea to get a second opinion or consult with a specialist to review your treatment plan.
Travel Arrangements: If you’re coming from abroad, consider the time and costs involved in traveling to India, and make sure you have the necessary support to make the process as smooth as possible.
Final Thoughts: Is Gamma Knife Surgery in India Right for You?
If you’re dealing with a brain condition and have been advised to undergo Gamma Knife surgery, India presents an excellent option—offering advanced technology, experienced surgeons, and world-class healthcare, all at a significantly lower cost than many other countries.
Choosing India for your treatment could provide you with access to affordable healthcare, while maintaining the highest standards of medical care. With thorough research and preparation, you can take advantage of this cost-effective option and receive the care you need to improve your health and quality of life.

Shouted "I Wish what's written on THIS, as it is currently, and without any form of editing or negotiation!" As fast as he could. Yote the document in Desiree's direction. And Flew like an INCANDESCENTLY pissed off Genie was trying to set his everything of fire.
Which she was.
Thankfully, Paulina came in clutch with her History of all things Jewelry, world fashions, and Make-Up knowledge. That, coupled with the Power Of Rich Friends(tm)? (Sam. Her mother was THRILLED to take her Jewelry and clothing shopping for something other then blacks and dark purple. They went on a jet setting whurl-wind tour. Sam actually kinda liked a some of what she found.)
They have Apology Bribes.
They shamelessly HIDE behind the mountain of Apology Bribes, while they explain themselves. Is Desiree HAPPY? No. But those bracelets are magnificent and she DOES deserve nice things. Those silks will really bring out her eyes. And she... DOES... admit...
Maybe...
That things are not... SAFE. Any longer. Danny TRIES. Everyone else can see it. And he's made incredible strides! Even convinced his lunatic parents. Though they're still not quite POPULAR. (WAY too pushy and invasive with their questions, for most people.) But the fanatics in white?
They nearly killed Box Lunch. If her father hadn't BEEN there...
And the poor man will have that scar on his back for the rest of his afterlife. Desiree can see why Danny is pushing. Does she LIKE it? No. But...
She supposes she will content herself with the suffering of the Fanatics in White and all who support them. THEIR wishes, twisted. Their ugly heart's desires.
Fine.
"SO YOU WISH IT. SO IT SHALL BE!"
And? The ghost town of what WOULD of one day grown into Amity, had the witch's there not been found by those they had fled from, which sits in long rotted ruins, amongst the trees in nowhere Illinois? Poof! Two "Towns" are switched.
The roads out of town coming to a clean line stop, meeting not even goat paths. Just trees. Old growth.
But it's not ALL of Town, is it? Faces missing. New, confused, faces from every corner of the map, taking their place. No Limnal left behind. No supporter of the GIWs genocide, brought along. Family's kept together where they could be. But by the few, scared and upset, green flashing eyes of children in the crowd?
It seemed for some, it was easier to fear and hate, then love their children.
Already they were being gathered up by school teachers and PTA parents. As everyone tried to figure out what had happened. Concerned, quite muttering a dull roar as everyone tries to coordinate.
Red Huntress joins Danny and Dani in the Sky. She doesn't get a word in. Wanted to know what the HELL was going on. She was with her dad in Chicago! Dani was in Taiwan! Literally! As in, sitting in a SUBWAY station one second, the next? Outside!
But they don't get to demand those answers. Because there is a sonic boom on the horizon. And then? Floating... weird... not ghosts?
Uuuuuuhhhh?
Hi?
That much blue... sure is a Statement. Like the cape and... bloooomers? Shorts. Bikini bottoms? It.. it's a Cool Look, dude! No, really. They are being VERY supportive here! If YOU like it? That's the only thing that matters!
Red Huntress smacks the Danny/i's Repeated upside their heads and demans to know what the Not-Ghosts are doing in their airspace.
Oh YEAH. Good point! What she said! And can it WAIT? They're kinda going through A Thing right now...
Kon? Wants it on record he loves these guys. They're hilarious. The LOOK on Clark's FACE?? He wishes he could frame it. Preserve it for future generations. Thing is? There was NOT a town here a second ago.
Well, bout 30 minutes or so, but you get the idea. One moment? Tree noises. Bam! Thousands of people! Obviously the checked it out. Only to be met with two... three maybe? Heros who have NO IDEA who they are.
Clear Reality warping shenanigans. Might be time travel or multiverse. Question is... are they STAYING? And if SO? What now...
