i genuinely hope that nick and tua’s relationship feels like its progressing naturally given the context of what theyve been through, their respective ages, and the genre itself… like we’re nearly 200k words in, they’ve both seen and experienced so many horrible heartbreaking things, and theres also the matter of a young child being involved… i think its Fine but i do wonder. anyway i want to try and write/post the next fic before tuas birthday in late december so i can focus on nuka world/gen4 au next year 🫡

A Scooby Doo (mystery incorporated because I needed more characters) x Umbrella Academy crossover. Contains lots of spoilers

Fred: Luther [the kind of dumb buff blond 'leader']

Daphne: Allison [The attractive, rich, and smart when she participates girl. Thinks of herself as slightly above the others in the team minus Luther. it even works with the whole relationship between the two]

Shaggy: Klaus [goofy wimp who's always the one being forced into bad situations without anyone caring (besides Scooby)]

Velma: Ben [I considered 5 because he's smart and that would let Victor be Hotdog Water, but that's a stretch for both and neither are in love. Velma is always with Shaggy, she's the smart one who nags him and comes up with ideas for him to carry out- which is literally Ben to Klaus]

The Mayor (Fred's dad): Reggie [the jerk always getting in their way who turns out to secretly know a lot about their mysteries and be a major player in them. On the other hand... He's also a scheming genius villain like Pericles who literally created all the mysteries... There was even that infamous Scooby Pericles team up, similar to the Reggie Klaus bonding session]

Scooby: drugs? [Jk haven't thought of anything for him, but he's Scooby's best friend, and increases/enables his zaniness and lack of impulse control. Could also be Klaus's ego as in his self- or at least a part of his self. Scooby's very cartoony, just like Klaus's immortality]

Mary-Ann: 5 [I think that was her name? She's the insufferable genius with the braids who was in jail almost the whole show. I think that should explain enough]

Diego: Sheriff Bronsenstone

Victor: Hotdog Water? [They both were good natured antagonists who were misunderstood... I don't know. Would like someone better]

Mayor Nettles: Grace [... HEY WAIT- I'M NOT SAYING I SHIP THEM,, but the way they (the four of them) act and the way they act around each other is pretty much the same]

Pogo: Angel Dynamite [... I hate to think it...He lets them crash at his place as a meet up stop, and always gives info about their cases when it's too late. Has all the secrets and it comes back to bite them later]

The Handler: Fred's mom/Peracles [cunning, evil, creepy sweet mother persona]

It's wild how people perceive Five (at 58) as fitting in with folks at a retirement home. Being retired and going to a retirement home are two very very different things. 58 is even a very early age to retire! Please note, these are not people his age, he would be the youngest one there. They are 20-30+ years older. They'd have kids his age.

Not to say it wouldn't be fun for Five to hang out with some guys his own age. Or older! That's a very fun dynamic that I'd love to see explored. Whenever his social skills are challenged it brings me joy. I just see this 'he should hang out with the old folks' notion pop up again and again, and it makes me think that many TUA fans are so young and have no perception of these things.
