i genuinely hope that nick and tua’s relationship feels like its progressing naturally given the context of what theyve been through, their respective ages, and the genre itself… like we’re nearly 200k words in, they’ve both seen and experienced so many horrible heartbreaking things, and theres also the matter of a young child being involved… i think its Fine but i do wonder. anyway i want to try and write/post the next fic before tuas birthday in late december so i can focus on nuka world/gen4 au next year 🫡

in mystery meat, the reason for why theodore collins is like that is because the cannery got sued before the war for mistreating its employees/dumping waste (weary exile bright heart p. 6) then when the great war happened the workers had to shelter in the basement and over time became feral ghouls. so when theodore cannibalized them and effectively continued the pattern of employers literally using the bodies of workers to turn a profit he got haunted (prion disease). but the actual moral of the story is that tua doesnt want anybody in their house

The good news is that Kingsport is in far better condition than anyone expected after two centuries of neglect and more than a few eccentric tenants. The bad news is that Tua Holloway’s new neighbor is at the center of an investigation involving a missing Vault trader and a missing synth detective. The whole affair has her wondering if it’s really worth leaving the city… or if the country is no safer for themself and their new family. A retelling of the incident at Longneck Lukowski’s Cannery, with a couple of artistic liberties.
