Yesterday my brain threw up this idea for a possible bottle episode and then at last minute dropped the random thought of it being a wip I should write. Then you all shamelessly encouraged me...sigh. Notes were made, words were written, and a new wip was born. So I give to you, my doppelganger fic.

Doppelgänger. A German word that literally means double-walker. A phenomenon often regaled in science fiction or supernatural tales. Seen as otherworldly beings that represent bad luck or outright evil. Because each person that comes into the world is supposed to be unique in their own way physically (outside of identical twins).  The face you see in the mirror is yours and yours only, so seeing it on another, well it must mean something? Right? It’s a contemplation that a group of firefighters from the 118 face just after the annular California solar eclipse, a time when strange phenomena truly occur. October 14th, 2023, the day after the solar eclipse and the beginning of a truly unique 48-hour shift. The team hears about the shift from the 13th from the previous crew. How the solar eclipse brought out the conspiracist, doom sayers, and extra wackos. Chimney thanks his lucky stars that he was not stuck on that shift and can’t help but chuckle when Buck goes on a tangent about the ‘effects’ of the eclipse sun. His chuckle deepens when he spots Eddie rolling his eyes behind his best friend’s back, keeping his opinions and disbelief to himself, for now. “You know, there’s a theory that the eclipse is actually a portal to another dimension or world.” Buck states as he pulls on a standard LAFD shirt, finally covering his bare chest. Chimney clocks the mild disappointment that flashes across Eddie’s face and Chimney internally gags. Next to him, Ravi snorts and shakes his head, “They are so blind and stupid.” He mutters under his breath and Chim gives a slight nod of agreement. Too bad the eclipse didn’t use its supernatural prowess to finally end the sexually charged and love sickening dance that has been going on between those two firefighters for way too long. Eddie’s disappointment last only seconds and by the time Buck turns around, a cheeky smile has replaced the frown, “A portal huh? Does it take anyone then? Or just dump another Mothman into the hills?”

LOOK WHAT YA'LL MADE ME DO! I have so many other wips, including NFL Buck and 4+1 Cockblock that I am trying to get done, but nooooo my random thought is now being shamelessly encouraged. Happy?!?!?! (Seriously, actually giddy about this! Its a fun fic with some serious undertones.) Forshame!

Seeing as we still cannot travel and Facebook keeps reminding me of past travels, I may as well share it with you and pretend like the skies aren’t closed. • • Three years ago today I had just landed in Washington, D.C. it was my first trip ever with just my mum. I have a special and unique relationship with my mother, and she has always been more of a best friend or a sister. • • She has always loved spending time with her kids, and we always felt adored and love. And the trip to the US wasn’t any different. It was a once in a lifetime experience and trip and I loved every moment! • • Both of us are single and we could just book the trip almost spontaneously, and just disappear and disconnect from everything and everyone. • • My mother is one of the main reasons why I look at single life with such positivity. She taught me how to feel comfortable in my own skin, be confident, strong, independent and just love my life and live it to the fullest. • • • How about you? Four years ago today I concluded my one month trip in Laos. Four years ago today. • Four years ago today I was in Vang Vieng, Laos. It is one of the most amazing, tranquil places I’ve ever been. We spent a whole week there, and it truly was great. • However, due to my anxiety and restlessness I had a hard time relaxing, despite the perfect surroundings. • At the time, it was filled with coffee shops and restaurants playing episodes of friends, and people lounging around drinking shakes and smoking. • I was going stir crazy from just watching others doing nothing. And as much as I wanted just to lounge around, I couldn’t. • I am an active person who needs to keep busy. And mixed with the anxiety, I just couldn’t enjoy the complete calmness of the place. • That being said, I would probably still go back there in a heartbeat. Cat-Ba, Vietnam. • Yet another destination from my Southeast Asia trip, four years ago today. It was just over a month in, and I was beginning to feel very home sick. I was suffocating despite the endless open, gorgeous, views. • I was traveling with my then boyfriend, and we were already struggling. There were good times, but looking back on it now, not enough. Something was too much and something else was missing. • I needed my best friend to talk to about the heaviness, about the pressure. The constant fog in my mind. I needed a comforting hug from my mum, to remind me of who I am and where I come from. I needed home. The security and surety of my four walls. • No matter how much fun I was having, and how great the places I saw were, I couldn’t be preset 100%. Something was pulling, tugging at me. Always nagging at the back of my mind, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. • I couldn’t commit, but I also couldn’t leave or stop or say enough. So I fought through it and kept going. But sometimes fighting through isn’t the best course of action. Sometimes it’s the worst thing you can do. Because while some things are worth fighting for, others should be let go and not dragged on. • But despite it all, I was having a great time. How could I not? I was in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. But I would love to go back to correct my experiences, try it out without all the weight pushing me down, and the chains holding me back • • How about you? Natural Spring. • • Last week my friend and I made plans to meet at a spring in the Jerusalem Forest. He asked me if I wanted to sleep out in the nature the night before. It has been such a long time since I have, so I agreed. • • So the other day we made our way to a place called Sataf, equipped with sleeping bags, mats and food supplies. Then we settled in an open terrace between the tall pine trees. • • It was exactly what I needed, to be in the Outdoors, surrounded by trees, open air and tranquility. After being stuck inside for so long, and having not gone out to the nature in too long, it was great fun sleeping in the middle of the Forest, climbing up a short trail, and jumping into the cold natural spring water. • • In times like these, when we are all cooped up and stuck at home, and especially since we cannot travel abroad - is when we should be going on domestic trips, exploring the local nature. • • • How about you? Four years ago today I was in Railay Beach, which is so tiny but also so much fun. We were there just for a few days, and could probably stay even longer. • • The tide would get so low, that you could walk along the beach for miles, where usually there would be water during the high tide. You can see in the pictures all the beautiful stones and rocks that were revealed from under the tide. • • One of my personal favorite thing about the place was the delicious Indian restaurant that we ate at ever evening? • • • How about you? Four years ago today I was in this little slice of heaven. Koh Phi Phi is one of the most beautiful, tranquil places I have ever been, and by far was my favorite island in Thailand. • • It is so tiny, but makes such a huge impact. The Black Forest, Freiburg. • • One of my favorite memories from my Germany trip, was getting lost in the Black Forest on our way down the mountains. Rows and rows of never ending trees, every shade of green imaginable, and the smell of wood, leafs and soil mixed together. It was a once in a lifetime experience I just had to commemorate by drawing. • • I actually prefer forests and mountains views, to ocean and city views - although they are beautiful too. Six years ago my younger sister and her husband were on their Southeast Asia trip. She called me and asked if I wanted to join them either in Sri Lanka or India. And next thing I knew I was booking myself a ticket to Sri Lanka. It was one of my most spontaneous and genius decisions, resulting in one of the greatest trips of my life. • • My older sister and father ended up joining as well, and it was one of the best family trips we’ve had to date. • • Facebook reminded me of this a couple of days ago, and it took me by surprise, because I wasn’t expecting it. But it was a fun reminder, even if it is a bit bitter since we can’t travel anywhere right now. • • So here are a few pics from my first few days there, in the capital city of Colombo.
