To all the pretend activists.
Every single trans suicide over these next four years in America is on you. You refused to vote and look what you've done, you've given a fascist power. He will flatten Gaza and life will be hell for every minority in America. Netanyahu was refusing a ceasefire to get this outcome of Trump winning the presidency, great job at playing right into his hands. Every last one of you who have refused to vote because of this, you are responsible from here on out for all the deaths that come as a consequence of Trump. Hope you can handle that, and knowing you saved nobody through this.

I am so sick of all of this "be kind" shit from the genderist crowd. Not only is it definitely playing hard into the hands of female socialization to always appear nurturing and sweet and never make men mad under any circumstances, but also... I mean, let's be honest, here. These people are not kind. There is nothing kind about allowing gay, autistic, and/or sexually traumatized children to be medically experimented on for profit after only one, one hour-long psych session, or letting them be sexually groomed by various adult men with neither the knowledge nor the approval of their parents. There is nothing kind about enforcing sexist stereotypes, and scaring people into unnecessary medical procedures because you've lied and told them that they will kill themselves if they don't get them in order to conform. There is nothing kind about using self-ID laws to rob women of safety from predatory men because you think that men's feelings are more important than making sure women aren't traumatized by them in their own private spaces that are supposed to be women-only. There is nothing kind about robbing women of scholarships, awards, and medals meant for women because, again, you believe that men's feelings matter more than anything, including women's ability to have proper livelihoods and role models of the same sex. And there is nothing kind about telling LGB people that they are evil bigots if they don't want to date/fuck trans people of the opposite sex. You don't know that they haven't already spent a good chunk of their lives being ridiculed for their same-sex attraction, and now you want to call them evil because of an innate attraction that they can't control?!
Nothing about any of this is kind, because at the core of real, genuine kindness is genuine empathy and concern for other people and a desire to ensure that they don't come into harm's way. Supporting things that hurt other people or sitting back and watching them self-harm isn't kindness. Even if you're doing it for social approval. Even if they put on a big show about how they supposedly like it, but their faces betray a sadness that they refuse to convey in words and you can't help but get the feeling while talking to them that something is eating them up inside. Continuing to promote it in order to look good or get them to like you isn't kindness, it's acquiescence, and that's not remotely the same thing. Because genuinely kind people are concerned with actions that show genuine concern for other people. They want to do right by them because they care about them. It's all about actually being kind, not just presenting the veneer of it for woke points. The trans crowd are such hard-core individualists that they wouldn't know anything about that.

I fucking hate the fact that "meet in person queers" is the answer to almost every issue with the community here. Like, I have a large irl queer freind group, and live in a very queer place, but that doesn't nullify the systemic problems I'm facing, nor does it nullify the fact that a lot of queer activism now explicitly or implicitly is not in favor of my rights as a bisexual enby. I'm very appreciative of my freinds, and it does help a lot to have those people, but it doesn't fix the larger issues in the community. No amount of enby cuddle piles is going to make me want to ignore the fact that a lot of queer people now use the fact that they aren't like me as a way of arguing for their rights.

It's a scary time for so many trans people, and I really want to push for everybody to not feel guilty for not wanting to always combat the horrific state of transphobia. You aren't required to be an activist, you aren't "giving up" by trying to live as comfortably as possible. This especially goes for trans kids who don't deserve to have their childhoods ripped away from them to be subjected to transphobia because of their activism.
Trans people: do what you can to survive - to thrive. Your existance is resistance.

Look. I hate all of The Discourse as much as anyone, but let's not pretend that leftist (online) politics got into this state on its own - not after literal decades of conservative power. Globally.
I mean, it's no wonder that we're squabbling amongst ourselves trying to decide which stripy flag is Good and which is an Evil Virus of Satan when the pressure to be this picture perfect model of morality is so... overwhelming.
Hate is so everywhere, hell, so encouraged, at this point. We all have our guards up. All the time. It feels like it's everyone for themselves, and thats done none of us any good.
Propaganda. Everywhere. All the time. Everywhere we turn at this point we find ourselves demonised, dehumanised, or just disregarded entirely. And our collective coping mechanism, it seems, is scrambling amongst ourselves to make ourselves, again, the most "perfect", "pure", "presentable" community.
This is not even just about the extreme examples. That's all been applied to terfism, acephobia, whatnot, but honestly it applies to all of us.
I'm tired. I'm so tired. Of having a "take" every time. Of having to have one.
I can't help but feel like our movement is so fractured because we're entrenched in conservative ground. It reminds me of two things: that one comic about the werewolf that doesn't get angry, can't get angry, because people will only see a monster; and that one tweet about people thinking it's better to do nothing wrong rather than something right.
Of course we feel like we can't do anything wrong, being "one of the bad ones" is something we've all been taught to desperately avoid - from those that hate us all anyway and from all of us with our guards up constantly.
Of course there's no space for compromise, there's no use for compromise. Not without a solid, dedicated, unified, practical movement. All the big options are just... awful. Democrats? Terrible. Labour? Spineless.
It's divide and conquer at every level. And we're super fucking divided right now.
Anyway, all that to say, while there is plenty to be negative about and there are a lot of problems with how we handle our ideas, the more that fascism is fought against, the easier it becomes.
Yes, Labour had to pander to tories to win this election. Yes, it was barely even a vote for Labour at all.
But, if this goes well over the next few years, and if public opinion finally shows the first signs of turning, then maybe, just maybe, we can start to have this discussion more on our home field. We can slowly, gradually, pull back the discourse and Actually Get Shit Done.
There is death in this world. There is pain. There is oppression. There is genocide.
There is also hope. There is also a future.
If. Maybe. Hopefully.
It's possible.
