shunned (tf141 x fem!reader)
part one
walking up the powdery mountain with the rest of the team is something of a torture device. it's times like these, when you can't feel your legs and your vision splinters between areas of the forest, you reconsider your choice of becoming a part of this team. the particles of snow pound against your face, your eyelashes become coated in the fragile flakes, and blinking only serves to hurt you. your brain begs you to stop and the dryness of your eyes calls out for hydration. unfortunately, you ran out of water an hour ago and if you did happen to have some, you're sure it would've been frozen solid.
your legs begin to slow, you steadily begin to drop out of formation, beginning to trudge along simon instead. you feel his large hand on your back, managing to propel you forward so you don't drop behind him and get lost in the flurry white of the freezing blizzard.
"your trousers weighing you down there girl?" he still manages to get out a distinct chuckle, despite his mask being covered from the whiteout.
"fuck you, riley," you say trying to push against the weight of the pounding snow. while irritated at his snide remark, you can't help but be thankful for the small push his consistent hand is giving you. allowing you to use what little strength you have left.
the blistering winds make it harder for you to hear the faint words of ghost. but you manage to slightly make out the sound of him communicating over his radio.
"cap, how much longer until our destination? ladies in the field can't keep up. over"
it was a shallow dig at you, not unfamiliar, but certainly not welcome. although the misogyny stung in a deep part of you, you were thankful for him asking. your own radio crackles to life, a recognition that it wasn't simon asking the question for himself.
"we still have a couple miles to go. hold out. over."
quick, concise, to the point. that is how you would describe captain price, your current commanding officer. while your body was screaming for a rest, you would never hear the end of it if you were to give out so, despite all better judgement, you reluctantly reply, "wilco."
digging deep and pushing through had never been an issue for you. that's probably one of the reasons you even joined the military in the first place, it's something you've always been good at. but right now, you could fall face first in the snow, laying there for the rest of the mission, and perhaps that would be more appealing than this.
"keep up slug," you hear murmured behind you obviously by none other than ghost.
slug, a derogatory nickname which, also happens to be your callsign. fucking great. it was given to you in your rookie days by much more sexist men. calling you slug because a. you were "slow" and b. resembled a slug during "that time of the month," assholes.
"shut up." you bite back. soon you begin to pick up the pace. your cheeks and ears warm from fury and your legs get the message.
maybe mental strength doesn't help you push through, but spite definitely does.
perhaps hours of trudging to through the icy abyss has made your body numb to the burn it now feels as you begin to pull ahead of your fellow team members. in front of johnny and kyle, but never in front of price.
"aye lass, ye're helding oot on us wi yer strength," johnny remarks. his thick scottish accent cutting through the lashing of harsh air against your ears. while already originally hard to make out, the lapping of wind makes it so much harder. so like most things he says, you ignore him and continue to drag yourself through the wintery mountain range.
it could've been hours or pure minutes of walking before your gaze is peeled away from the garish snow. a hand placed on your shoulder stopping you, your head moved to face your captain. you look up with an exhausted expression, everything in your body screaming for respite.
price turns to face the rest of the boys.
"alright, men-" his eyes glance to you awkwardly "er, um. ahem. team. we've reached our first shelter for the night. a mountain hut. i am sure you're all familiar. but we've reached enemy territory, so, tonight we are rotating watch."
he moves his hands from your shoulder so he can unlatch the door and file in the squad. in a respectful world it'd go you first, then everybody else. but you are quickly shouldered out of the way, left in the swing of the door.
"a'll geyt the feer goin'" soap announces, immediately tearing off his gloves and shoving his backpack to the ground.
"gonna put those boyscout badges to work?" kyle retorts, chuckling as he peels off his icy scarf. one which was originally red in color, now a sheer white. he finds purchase one of the four wooden chairs that surround the old molding table.
the entire cabin reeks of mildew and rot. looking around from the door you can immediately spot the decaying boards beneath simons feet and the decomposing beams dangling above the hatted price.
you grumble in frustration and begin to remove the equipment that surround and insulate your body.
a familiar paw rests atop your shoulder, forcefully turning your body as the big large figure stoops down to your shoulder. "gonna make us a meal, slug?" the venomous words slip off his tongue. another unwanted jab at the fact that you are a woman.
"no, i'm not gonna make you a fucking meal, simon." the cabin quiets. your voice had come out louder than intended, but every time since joining the task force the men expect you to clean, cook, polish, and dust, like you're some sort of maid.
"easy slug," a deep voice sounds beside you. your eyes meet the soft contact of john price. "i am sure he did not mean to offend you. so why don't you back off a little, hm?" it's almost impossible to not be soothed by his fatherly voice. "besides, you're on a team. just because you're a woman doesn't mean you get to slack off." there it is.
while on the surface, he may seem like one of the better ones. no passes at you, no eyes roaming your body, no inappropriate hands. but every once in a while his true colors show. that he thinks less of you because you are a woman.
"whatever." your gaze breaks away, his nurturing demeanor no longer tricking your brain into calm. your, now, slightly less icy hands move to unlace your boots. socks wet and toes freezing.
the atmosphere of the decaying shed lightens mildly as johnny begins his rants. loud and mainly incoherent, he sings his thoughts. with no filter and no manner. price melts some snow near the fire and divvy it between the soldiers. water used to rehydrate themselves and the food packed in their bags.
the men gather around the table, quickly filling all four chairs. not a thought left to you. instead, you leave yourself the far end of a corroded couch to eat your meal. the springs sticking into your thighs and torn fabric an ardent reminder to who you aren't and why you are not at that table.

okay ! this is a lot of preamble to the rest of the fic but nonetheless i hope you enjoy it !! and yes i promise to actually do a part two

What is the other reason for the sea being fresh water?
Do they have rain? Or better: how different is their weather?
i did say one of two factors in that linked post didn't i... but i don't remember what i meant by that 😭 i wrote it a year ago and my mind is blanking
it is probably a reference to rain or the end of the last ice age causing a worldwide flood event, that would be my best bet. in terms of weather well it depends on the region, how close to the equator etc but as a rule the humidity is high everywhere except the dry areas in the eastern continent, and rains are extremely frequent (again, except for the dry areas... they are in fact above cloud level, so no rain) it's not uncommon for there to be daily rain in most of the world.
i'm not as well-versed in weather as i am in water stuff so i've played it safe and decided that it is very earth-like. the formation of the land (being in a lot of very tall narrow ridges in some places) probably effects rainfall, i could imagine there being permanent rain shadows on one side of the larger mesas. the ridges also trap wind and prevent it from propagating which is what contributes to most of the water being relatively still most of the time
the sky has a slight greeny tint just for flavour, and the water is nearly always turbid brown/green except in areas of deep and continuous sea (basically 'the dark' area labelled on the map)
because so many people live underwater, they experience weather a little bit differently to people who live overwater, and have a whole bunch of their own special underwater weather events, like blinding whiteouts of marine snow that scatters ecolocation, sudden currents that may develop in response to tectonic activity, and nutrient fluctuations causing blooms and die-offs of aquatic plants.
#setting: siren#oh also - it's freshwater because salt is actually relatively rare on this planet for whatever reason#all sirenian life forms (including the genetically modified humans) are adapted to ultra low saline conditions#oh i'm so dumb that is probably exactly what i meant by 'one of two factors'

They can camouflage, have prehensile tails, and can shoot shoot acidic venom from their front fangs, which only a relative's can neutralize. They live in a hidden city among the trees of the Rainforest Kingdom. Their diet consists of mainly fruits, such as pineapples, coconuts, bananas, oranges, mangoes, strawberries, blueberries, etc., but they if it came down to it, they could eat meat, they just prefer not to. This is an IceWing, or ice dragon. They have pale white, pale blue, silvery, pale purple, or even opalescent scales. They can withstand freezing temperatures, withstand bright light, radiate a chill from their scales, have serrated claws, and can breathe frostbreath, which when it used on a dragon or plant, can freeze an area, and if untreated, will cause the area to blacken and die. They live in the tundras of the Ice Kingdom, and their diet consists of artic and antarctic animals, such as seals, whales, caribou, polar bears, and orcas, and have been known to eat moss and seafood such as crabs and fish. They have had a hierarchy, which is the Seven Circles for the nobility. They used to have animus dragons, but their last one eloped with a NightWing, and one of their eggs hatched the first NightWing animus (and the most dangerous one) Darkstalker. Their names can be such as:

X/1999 Volume 2 Illustration Comments
1995 Monthly Asuka March Issue, Announcement Illustration
Paper: Manuscript paper
Lines: Color pencil
Color: Colortone. whiteout Copic marker
I literally just penciled this on regular manuscript paper used for monochrome illustrations [laughs]. I've used Colortone before, but I hardly ever use it in X.
[Ed. Note: Colortone is a type of colored screentone; it's also sometimes called "overlay.”]
2002 X Calendar illustration
This was a uniquely long, vertical format, so I had a hard time devising the composition of the illustration. Now that I look at it, the specks of light make it look like a Magical Girl transformation scene [laughs). Although this was a large illustration, I screwed up my courage and colored the background using only Copic markers [laughs]. The uniform was inked in with Lumocolor pens, but I used Liquitex afterward for some parts of the piping. The wing was drawn with an airbrush, and the Earth with acrylic gouache.
2002 Monthly Asuka April Extra Issue
X Comic Collection 04 Illustration
Ohkawa commented that there hadn't been any illustrations of Kamui being sad, so she asked me to make him cry. I drew an illustration for the cover of the X Comic Collection 03 of Kotori wearing a blue headdress. So he's holding that as if it's a memento. I used Liquitex to draw the beads. The other areas are done with Copic markers. I put down a layer of gray ground coat before doing the actual illustration.
1998 Monthly Asuka November Issue
Title Page: Illustration
Paper: BB Kent
Lines: PIGMA Graphic ink pen
Color Dr Ph Martin's Color Ink, Lumocolor ink pen, poster color, Copic marker
This is a fake Warring States Period illustration [laughs]. I drew something with a similar theme before, but I think this one looks more Warring States-like. Even though I've totally ignored the authenticity of the time period [laughs].
[Ed. Note: Poster color is also known as "poster paint" or "tempera paint."]
1996 Monthly Asuka August Issue, Title Page Illustration
Paper: Watson Paper
Lines: Winsor & Newton Drawing Ink (Nut Brown),PIGMA Graphic ink pen
Color: Acrylic Gouache, Dr. Ph. Martin's Color Ink, Lumocolor ink pen
The ink I used to draw the main outline blurs a bit when it's mixed with water. so the whole illustration has a yellowish tint to it. I wanted the uniforms to look dimensional and not just pitch-black, so I used Lumocolor for them.
[Ed. Note: Watson is a brand of Japanese paper good for watercolor use.]
1993 June. X Volume 4, Cover Illustration
Paper: BB Kent
Lines: PIGMA Graphic ink pen
Color: Dr. Ph. Martin's Color Ink, poster color
The concept color for this illustration was gray, but his hakama would look very drab if I'd colored them gray too, so I made them light blue instead [laughs].
2002 X TV Anime Volume 5 DVD Box illustration
For the illustrations used on the anime DVD boxes, I had decided from the beginning to make the backgrounds black and to incorporate a round element, which in this case was a window. Both Sorata and Arashi are very "Japanese" characters, so I drew them with that idea in mind. But I still put them in their school uniforms.. (laughs]. Sorata wears his uniform only once during the entire series, and that was in a flashback scene. When you see them together like this, it seems like they're from a different story. The background is colored with poster color and acrylic gouache.
1996 X Anime Movie Advertisement Illustration
Paper: BB Kent
Lines: PIGMA Graphic ink pen
Color: Dr. Ph. Martin's color ink Liquitex
Since this illustration was for the movie, I wanted to give it a heavy atmosphere, so I used Liquitex. But it took such a long time to dry that I ended up having to pull an all-nighter to make the deadline [laughs].
1996 X Anime Movie Flyer Illustration
The scene and color palette for this illustration were created to suit the movie, since the image was going to be used on the flyer. I think I used I Watson Paper for it and colored it mostly with ink, but I used an airbrush for the Earth. I placed a thin ground coat of brown on the paper first and colored the characters after that. It's exactly the same drawing technique as I used on the posters.
1999 Monthly Asuka May Issue, Title Page Illustration
Another illustration of Karen looking very neat and tidy. I put her in a delicate lace dress, which is a refreshing change since she's usually drawn with a bondage look. The background resembles a holy shrine of some sort. I purposely drew water in the illustration since she has the power to control fire. Originally there wasn't any lace over her cleavage, but I added it on later at Ohkawa's request.
1993 November, X Volume 5, Cover illustration
Paper: BB Kent
Lines: PIGMA Graphic ink pen
Color: Dr. Ph. Martin's Color Ink
The building in the background is the offices of Kadokawa Shoten
Publishing Co., Led. Are the papers that are falling out of the sky just random documents? Or final drafts of manga? It'd be terrible if they were final drafts [laughs].
2001 Monthly Newtype November Issue, Cover Illustration
Newtype has a very large cover area, so it's fun to draw illustrations for it [laughs]. I wanted the blackness of the uniform to have a heavy look to it, more of a "woolly" texture, so I used a Lumocolor pen instead of a Copic marker. If I had used a black Copic, the color would have been much lighter. They don't make that particular hue of Lumocolor anymore, unfortunately. The other parts of the uniform were drawn using Dr. Ph. Martin's, the cloth with Copic markers, and the earth using acrylic
2003 X Calendar Illustration
This was for a desk calendar, so it wasn't a huge project, but I still did draw in a lot of detail. Fortunately, not many colors were used so it didn't take too much time. I spent the most time working on the dragon. Until this illustration, I had been drawing Asian dragons, but this dragon has a slightly Western touch. Its scales are very shiny (laughs].
2002 X TV Anime Advertisement Poster
Fuma's head looks a little big here [laughs]. I made this when I was working on Chobits, so I had a "drawing habit" of doing things in that style. The background was colored with acrylic gouache. I wanted an ashy hue to create a tranquil, not too heavy-looking sky. The other parts were done with a Copic marker. The piping on the uniforms was too small to draw, so I added them afterwards with Liquitex
2002 X: The Choice of Fate Play Station Game Package Illustration
I remember working really hard on the Tokyo Tower for some reason. The Tower and capes were done with acrylic gouache. Since this was an illustration for a video game, I wanted to give it a battle-like, action-y feel; it's just right for an all-out fighting game! I erased the outlines of the background to make it look like it was drawn with a computer. but it actually took a lot of time and effort.
1996 Monthly Asuka August Issue, Title Page Illustration
Paper: BB Ken
Lines: Dr. Ph. Martin's Sepia Ink, PIGMA Graphic ink pen
Color: Dr. Ph. Martin's Color Ink
The illustration seems slightly yellowish since I did the outline using Dr. Ph. Martin's Sepia Ink and then blurred it with water afterward. The shattering glass over the image gives it an ominous feel
1994 December. a volume 6. cover illustration
Paper: BB Kent
Lines: PIGMA Graphic ink pen
Color: Acrylic gouache, Dr. Ph. Martin's Color Ink
I shaded the illustration with pink as a base color, and then inked in the different areas. Since Kotori’s the subject, I wanted to make it look cute, so the concept color is pink and it's got lots of flowers [Laughs]

My Computer Isn’t a Typewriter
My father purchased an IBM Selectric typewriter in about 1975 and pumped out several ceramic textbooks with it. I recall it cost about $800, which was a huge purchase. Around the age of ten, I used (under direct supervision) his typewriter to write reports, but this technology only eliminated my poor penmanship. Yes, whiteout was my best friend. Around 1980, we got our first computer, a Wang with a daisy wheel printer. It had an excellent word processor (for the time), and I used it for everything.
It was essentially a text editor with very limited spell-checking. However, this was a lifesaver and vastly improved my writing quality. We upgraded computers over the years, which added fonts, typesetting (WSIWG), and better spell checkers.
In the early nineties, I came across the book The PC is Not a Typewriter by Robin Williams. No, he is not the Good Morning Vietnam Robin Williams. It described how to transition from a typewriter to a word processor, including the many bad writing traits that were brought over from the mechanical days.
While reading this book improved my writing, some undesirable traits remained. For example, adding two spaces after a period is no longer necessary, and I do this every time. Often, I forget to go back and delete the extra spaces.
Why were two spaces necessary? Way back when, this was essential for mechanical typesetting, but now that practice wastes paper. I appreciate mono-spaced fonts, wide margins, and use double spacing to bulk up documents. ALL CAPITOL LETTERS to make my POINT and spaces instead of tabs for easy/quick alignment.
Fortunately, I have embraced several improvements. A big one is the ability to import from other sources. For example, if I was writing a book about the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I could copy that text from the internet, and my document would have correct spelling. See, I just did it.
Search engines are a superb resource that the typewriter never had. For example, I can use it as a spell checker. Let’s take the word “metropolitan” and pretend I typed “metrooplatin.” Looks right? But, none of the Microsoft Word suggested words look correct. If I paste this radically misspelled word into a search engine, it suggests the correctly spelled word.
Modern word processors also allow us to import pictures, share documents, easily change the format, merge the text around objects, and preview before printing. The internet lets us change a document into an unfamiliar language, find additional content sources, and check facts.
Overall, writers should focus on their words and let the computer handle everything else. They can also use the internet as a fact checker, thesaurus, “urban” dictionary, source of material, and a means of distribution.
We now have the endless freedom to make our documents read and look better. My computer is no longer a text editor. It is a word powerhouse, and I would dread returning to a typewriter. Alright, truth. I would dread only being able to use pen and paper. Nobody would understand a thing I wrote. Even me.
You’re the best -Bill

I’m so split on this, having previously had to do redaction quite a lot in my job:
A) Doing it this way would be so nice. There are programs that help redact but the company I worked for didn’t give us access to any.
B) This wouldn’t be acceptable redaction for a lot of policies. Removing the words from the page leaves a blank space that can be mistaken for really shitty formatting rather than intentionally-removed text. Even whiteout is sometimes banned for that same reason. It had to be black bars. Hire a Silverquil mage, their inklings can probably help.
C) It’s so pretty.

I've bemoaned in the past how a lot of advice I got in gradschool wasn't super helpful for the digital age we currently live in, but I think it's becoming clear now that actually the real problem is the advice I was given was a filled-in book of madlibs. The framework is good, but I need to mentally whiteout the verbs and nouns to fill in my own.
Instead of "asking my favorite local band" if they want "free gig posters", what has actually been more helpful in making connections for me was to "become obsessed with an indie thing" and "create fanart of obsession" then "shamelessly dm fanart to the creator of that thing".
But I think the true problem here isn't the original advice being inexplicable scenarios in a madlibs format, it's my adhd brain stubbornly taking instructions literally. And moreover, advice-givers not accounting for that in an academic setting.
There need to be training courses on both how to give advice and instruction to people who are going to take it literally, and how to restructure non-literal advice and instructions into a madlibs style framework you can slot your own parameters into. Or something. :B

media rec if you like the lotr daily/dracula daily format:
Try the Lifeline phone games! It's a choose your own adventure where you are texting a stranded astronaut, real time (if they have to sleep or use both hands, they can't send you messages), trying to keep them alive and bring them home. If they're knocked out you have to WAIT until they come to. (The game's UI will explicitly tell you if you die, there's a moment in Flatline that kept tripping people up)
They're low commitment (nothing bad happens if you can't answer the message right away) mystery/adventure/thriller games
The series consists of
Green Series Games (same universe)
• Lifeline (with Taylor the astronaut), survival adventure with a twist
• Viridian Actual (a short sequel to Lifeline/prequel to Silent Night, Xmas puns & horror), comes with Silent Night iirc
• Lifeline 2: Bloodline ( you're messaging Arika the teenage blood mage as she embarks on a quest to rescue her brother from a pocket dimension and get revenge against the creatures that took over her hometown)
• Lifeline: Silent Night (with Taylor; hurricane of Xmas puns, a sort of enclosed space, sneaking aound story)
• Lifeline: Halfway to Infinity (back to Taylor), direct sequel to Silent Night. Black hole shenanigans.
• Lifeline: Flatline (you're helping Wynn find their missing neuroscientist sister in a wrecked research facility after some kind of horrible accident. More horror than usual, perfect for spooky season)
• Lifeline: Crisis Line (you're a chatbot-facilitated volunteer counselor for a depressed 30-something homicide detective who just witnessed something that he can't comprehend) Alex Esposito my beloved. Cliffhanger ending, which I hope gets resolved now that the original devs have the rights back

Whiteout
by SarcastCity
Vi loved the holidays.
The snow, the lights, decorating the tree while festive music played on Vander’s old record player, shaking wrapped gift boxes to try to figure out what was inside, dancing sock-footed in the kitchen, a little drunk off spiked hot chocolate…Vi loved it all.
The holidays always made the house feel warm in a way it didn’t the rest of the year, even though that made no fucking sense because she was around the same goddamn people through the whole year.
But this year…she got to share the holidays with Caitlyn.

Original Wally Wood art. There’s lots of good information in the original auction listing (this art sold for $1,440.00 in July of 2018) so I’m dropping it in below.
Wally Wood Cannon Sunday Comic Strip Original Art #C-94 dated 1973 (Wood and Richter, 1973). Wood's Cannon strip was published in military newspapers during the Vietnam war era and featured his ravishing (and occasionally naked) women, fist fights, fast cars, and international intrigue, and this Sunday has it all. This was the only Cannon strip to have been presented in this format, originally having a wonderful original art stat of the naked Elena running down the left side of the page (Panel 5). The stat is unfortunately missing, but could easily be replaced. The strip is on two pieces of thin Bristol board and showcases Wood's quick paced action adventure story. The ink and Zipatone over blue pencil pages have just a few spots of whiteout, with light handling wear and soiling. The title logo is a pasted on stat. as is the Porsche and jet in Panels 1 and 3. The overall image size measures approximately 16.75" x 23.5"

🐉RATING: 🔥🔥🔥🔥/5 Whiteout is a collection of love stories, written by an all-star team of YA authors - Dhonielle Clayton, Tiffany P. Jackson, Nic Stone, Angie Thomas, Ashley Woodfolk, and Nicola Yoon. Clayton first brought the group together to write Blackout, published in 2021, a collection of loosely connected stories that take place when the power goes out in New York City. Unlike their first book, which had each chapter - each story - credited to its author, Whiteout intertwines its characters and fits them under the umbrella of a primary plotline. This modified format encourages the reader to guess the lead author of each character and their subplot. There are even hints in the authors’ note. A sweet series of teen love stories, Whiteout takes place in Atlanta during a rare snowstorm. Despite the obstacles - due to the snow and their own stubbornness - there are enough happy endings to program a week of Hallmark movies. There is strong LGBTQIA representation within the ensemble cast of characters, and their families are both structurally and ethnically diverse. Atlanta residents will appreciate references to popular landmarks, the original Snowpocolypse, and the spot-on descriptions of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as well as highways I-75, I-85, and I-285. Atlanta native Nic Stone knows how traffic can turn any day into a nightmare. Whiteout is a sweet novel, and I would recommend it to any teen who enjoys love stories and any adult who counts down the days until holiday TV-movie season. ❓Do you enjoy ensemble books and movies where each character has their own subplot but the stories all come together? ❓Are you a lover or a hater of the ensemble movie Love Actually? Thank you to Quill Tree Books, a division of @harpercollins and @netgalley for this ARC. #whiteout #blackout #dhonielleclayton #tiffanydjackson #nicstone #angiethomas #ashleywoodfolk #nicolayoon #ireadya #yaromance #contemporaryya #atlanta #snowpocolypse #blackjoy #happilyeverafter #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck_mzEIvFml/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Legends: Darkstalker - Rewritten AU
The first thing I want to say here is that all feedback and criticism will be considered and taken. I don't want this to be bad, I don't want it to look like I'm trying to excuse the bad actions that Darkstalker takes or anything along those lines. What I wanted to do with this AU is see what would happen if some of the characters made different decisions, like looking at the alternate path of someone's future. This is something I've been working on for about two years in my spare time, and I've been trying to get the courage to post it publically and share it with others.
Now, for the AU outline itself! Some parts are unfinished (if you have any ideas, please share!) or simply not fleshed out as much as I'd like them to be. Since this is long, it's going to be put under the cut.
I don't really know how someone would go about listing a big AU such as this one, so I'm just going to copy the bullet points I have in my big google doc with all of the info. Sorry if the formatting is bad! I'll probably go back at some point and edit it if it's really bad.
BIGGEST PLOT CHANGES:
Darkstalker is not trapped under Agate Mountain.
This means that Peacemaker does not exist.
This also means that any events after Darkstalker reemerges from Agate Mountain did not happen.
Things such as:
Darkstalker doesn’t become king of the Nightwings.
Nobody else finds out that Turtle is animus.
Much more that I need to figure out later.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT DARKSTALKER DOESN’T DO BAD OR QUESTIONABLE THINGS.
In this AU, Darkstalker still has a greed and want for power.
There are multiple times where he tries to seize the throne, and argues with Queen Vigilance many times about becoming king.
He also encourages Clearsight to fight to become queen (which she refuses to do.)
Eventually, after some years and having to take care of dragonets, Darkstalker has a lesser greed for power. But sometimes... he gets this nagging in the back of his mind....
The Nightwing Exodus never happens.
This means that Glory never becomes the Nightwing Queen.
Animus magic is not taken away at all.
This is something mostly added out of spite, as I am very unhappy with Jerboa’s actions involving animus magic. (NOTE: I have not read The Dangerous Gift yet and do not know the full extent of it, only what the Wiki says.)
However, Seawings are still tentative with Animus magic, and have a distrust for it for a few hundred years.
This aspect goes along with canon, meaning that at some point animus magic becomes a treasured and praised thing again.
Darkstalker does not want to kill all Icewings
This is because at a young age Darkstalker did this enchantment. “Enchant the water Arctic is drinking to make him a better father.” (Funfact! This is what inspired me to do the AU, since one of my friends joked about Darkstalker doing the enchant and it spilared out of control.... I am hyperfixated on this book lol.)
This has a major effect on the plot later on, as Darkstalker doesn’t enchant Arctic to disembowel himself. As well as:
Darkstalker doesn’t do various enchantments to hurt Arctic.
Clearsight does not have a prophecy about Arctic.
Arctic doesn’t make Whiteout go with him to the Ice Kingdom.
Probably more!
When the Icewings take Foeslayer, Darkstalker is angry, but Arctic fights to protect her and help her escape, which makes Darkstalker have more respect for his father.
Icewings still have a dislike towards Nightwings because of Arctic and Foeslayer’s actions, though it settles down as years pass.
Beetlewings do not split off and become Hivewings and Silkwings.
Clearsight doesn’t see the future about the hurricane coming to Plantala, so she doesn’t come there.
The hurricane affects Plantala, causing a slight decrease in the population, but over the years it’s fixed.
The events of Arc 3 do not happen at all.
PLOT ADDITIONS
Darkstalker and Clearsight have dragonets, the six predicted dragonets Clearsight had seen in her foresight.
Eclipse, Firececlws, and Shadowhunter.
I’ve also given names to the three unnamed dragonets. Two of them are twins, [TBA] and [TBA]. The last one, the youngest, is named Fathomfixer, named after Fathom. (-I want to name one of the twins Peacemaker (it would be Foeslayer's idea) but I want the twins to have names that match each other...)
Fathom and Indigo have the dragonets they have in cannon.
Clearpool, Cowrie, and Ripple.
They also have an additional dragonet, Darkwater, the youngest.
Darkstalker, frustrated that they didn’t name one of their dragonets after him, enchants Indigo to have another dragonet.
Fathom suspects that Darkstalker was involved in Indigo having another dragonet, but cannot fully prove it.
Darkwater acts similarly to Peacemaker, as he has a liking towards strawberries and is very goofy. Unlike Peacemaker though, he is animus (Darkstalker made sure of it.)
Whiteout and Thoughtful have dragonets, twins. Their names are Glassspinner and Dreamweaver.
Fathom and Indigo decide to live in the Nightwing Kingdom since Fathom wouldn’t be able to be with Indigo in the Seawing Kingdom.
This has caused tensions to rise between the two tribes, Queen Pearl assuming that Darkstalker had used his animus powers to force Fathom to want to be away.
The truth is, Fathom decided on his own accord.
This is all I have so far!
Like I said before, any feedback will be taken, and I'd love to see what people think! If you have any name ideas for the twins, design ideas, a name for the au, etc, please share and tag me!!
