pretty self explanatory! i feel like stanford'd be an x-men fan, hence the x patch on his shoulder lol. also yes, dipper is a trans woman here. and she has glasses bc fuck dude i hate drawing regular eyes.. i thought the design looked a bit empty, so i decided to make that cool glove thing ford had dipper's robot hand thingy!

stanley now wears a hat. hoorah. nothing much to say here besides him also smuggling shanklin in (w/o the knife unfortunately). mabel's still impersonating her sibling (who, before the portal scene, doesn't know that she's a girl now) under the name of mason, but has ultimately shed her sibling's fashion tastes for her own. mabel wears a turtleneck UNDER the suit bc she doesnt feel heat apparently!

candy's now a 15 yo asian kid who took up the cashier job under grauntie bc she needed more extracurriculars and the experience. totally cant relate to that haha. wendy's now a 12 yo mischievous lil lumberjack who's best friends w/ stanley (i thought it'd be interesting since theyre all now still associated w each other) and who has ALL the middle school tea (which is A LOT)

as much as i want the ages to line up relatively (haha get it.), i think it'd be funny if mabel just hired a bunch of teenagers to run the shack (not sure what to call it). grenda's the 15 yo handy(wo)man who has the voice of an angel and the golden mentality of "smash with couch"! soos is now a friendly n equally naive 12 yo who's best friends w stanely (yada yada) and who somehow always solves problems

on dipper and mabel (will be using he/him for pre-transition dipp):

hoo boy. i see SO many ppl arguing abt their relationship, and i just gotta say, i can tell who has siblings and who doesn't! (joke. thats a joke. mostly) anyways, theyre good siblings!! up until high school, where after drifting apart somewhat, they have a big argument abt where theyre going in life - dipper wants to go to insert rlly good college name and become a scientist while mabel, well, she doesn't know where she wants to go. unbeknownst to them, while theyre fighting, their parents are also fighting. suddenly, their parents split, and mabel is forced to live with her mom and dipper with his dad, far apart from each other. dipper (wearily) accepts this while mabel silently resents dipper for his submission

dipper attends his dream school but is unhappy in his schooling years. afterwards, with his 12 phds or whatever the hell, he goes to a quaint town named relativity falls... mabel becomes an artist of sorts, taking commissions n such, but finds that this doesn't exactly lead to profit. she then becomes a sort of con(wo)man and psychic in attempts to capitalize the strange. she DEF doesn't get into as much srs trouble as stanley did back in his day, but she still lands herself in hot water from scamming and stealing across state lines...

My favorite thing with Relativity Falls is trying to wrangle Dipper and Mabel’s gender with the identity theft. Are one of them trans? If so, which one? If they don’t have any siblings, that means one of them is Stan and Ford’s grandparent. Is the remaining twin pretending to be the other or are they honest about being a different one? There’s a lot of fun combinations:

I flip flop on which twin works better as the author, but I really love Grauntie Mabel so if I ever made Relatively Falls fanfic I’d probably have Dipper be the Author with Mabel running the shack. I also really like the secret identity angle so I fully support Mabel impersonating her brother. To solve the gender issue you can either go the trans route or the crossdressing for 30 years route. The most “natural” feeling one, at least fanon wise imo, is that Dipper is transmac but fell into the portal before transitioning. But the dipper as transmac headcanon bugs me for reasons not relevant here, and I like Grauntie Mabel too much to make her crossdress as a man for 30 years; so I actually prefer transfemme dipper who fell into the portal after transitioning (I am also definitely not impartial, I am a trans woman lol). That also ties into Dipper feeling like a weird outcast who would study cryptids a la Ford, as opposed to him just being a mystery loving nerd with a constellation birthmark (of course, that’s if you make Dipper study the same things as Ford, which lots of people don’t).

Of course, that line of reasoning leads to all sorts of interesting questions as a result: who is the McGucket analogue? I usually see Candy or Pacifica, but if you wanted to mirror the show (and lean into the queer angle/a relatively falls fiddauthor), Wendy works pretty well. That also helps put Fiddleford in the shack so he can go on adventures with Stan and Ford. And Shermie? Oh god, Shermie.

Shermie is his own can of worms. If he’s Stan and Ford’s brother, is he older or younger? Is he there with them over the summer or is he back with Filbrick and Caryn? Maybe he’s still the unseen grandpa, making him Dipper and Mabel’s brother and sidestepping which one of them is the grandparent. Imo, Shermie works best as Stan and Ford’s older brother adventuring with them. Maybe even as a Soos analogue.

As for who the grandparent is, I dunno! Maybe Soos is, making him Dipper and Mabel’s brother. Maybe Mabel was, making the fact she faked her death and impersonated Dipper all the more tragic and gut punch-y (and very different from Stan, who Alex Hirsch thought never would do that). Maybe Dipper was, and so Mabel is pretending to be a grandparent. If it was Mabel or Dipper, who’s the spouse?

I like swapping Soos and Aubelita too much to make Soos Stan and Ford’s grandpa (though it’s a fun idea I don’t see anyone do). So then one of the mystery twins has to be the grandparent. I don’t think Mabel would abandon her family, so Dipper as the real grandparent has to happen via process of elimination (meaning until Not What (S)he Seems, Mabel goes by “grandma mabel”). Who the other parent is up in the air; Wendy or Pacifica are already popular ships with Dipper, and also potential McGucket analogues. If you wanna get really weird with it, Bill is, imo, a valid choice given the implied romance between him and Ford.

And that snowballs into dealing with Bill. Does he get swapped? If so, with who? Gideon kinda makes sense, especially if you want to keep the Hand that Rocks the Mabel(Ford? Stan?) plotline (as opposed to Stan x Bud which… okay that’s actually funnier). But Dream Demon Gideon sounds kinda stupid to me, even if it fits oddly well (I actually think that works better if Mabel is the author). Do you swap Bill with Euclid and Scalene? Then there’s two dream demons and baby bill running around, but Bill’s parents are kinda nothing burgers of characters. Why do they want a portal? You can also just keep Bill as Bill. I mean, the Book of Bill indicated that there’s a Bill for every universe. I dunno where I stand there, but I lean towards keeping Bill as himself. But swapping any obsessive ex tendencies of his from Ford to Dipper for obvious reasons.

I dunno if I’ll ever write anything, and that’s obviously not all the questions this AU raises (if Pacifica is swapped with Preston, how does Double Dipper play out? Does Boyish Dan work at the shack or is he the estranged son? Who do Candy and Grenda swap with? Are they the Rico and Jorge of Mabel’s backstory? How different is Mabel and Dipper’s backstory to a Tale of Two Stans?) but this AU is probably my favorite and every time I reblog art or an idea about it I get more and more drawn in. It’s really thought provoking.

Okay since some of you want to know about my Stancest fankid, I will rant about her!

First thing, I have like a billion different AUs within this AU, but I’ll probably only share two of them with y’all.

So, without further ado;

Her name is Hadley Celia Pines, her birth year depending on The AU, but for my original timelines, she’s born February 18, 1973, about 4-5 months after Stan gets kicked out. There’s no conclusive date of when Stan was kicked out, but I’m pretty sure the year was 1972 and given how most college admissions happen in the first semester, I'm putting Stan being kicked out in September/October of ‘72, when they’re 17. And yes, this is an mpreg kind of scenario. I haven’t decided whether this is ABO, trans!Stan, or a “men can get pregnant” kind of universe. But either way, she is the product of both Stan and Ford. Since Stan was only about 3 months or so months when he got kicked out, he didn’t know, being naturally a little chubby and all. It was only after a couple months on the street, he made it to New York, when his belly firmed up that he figured it out.

He was so terrified, scared of giving birth on the streets and dying, from his baby getting taken away from him, from everything that could happen to his baby. Thankfully, he was taken in by a kind older woman, a retired midwife named Celia. Stan stayed with her for two years before he and Hadley left, Celia’s apartment was too expensive and she was moving in with a nephew of hers. She offered for Stan and Hadley to come with her, but Stan declined, feeling a combination of insecure, pride, and the want to prove himself to his father. Of course Stan still stays in contact with Celia, his and Hadley visit her every year for the Holidays and Hadley’s birthday

Of course since he’s been a father since he was kicked out, he never got into too much trouble like in canon. He still had to chew his way out of a car and still had bad dealings with some drug lords, but he never went to jail or South America.

Ford still sends him a post card when things with Bill got too much to handle, and Stan still goes, but he’s more cautious with Hadley in toe. Ford’s more cautious too, seeing a little girl glaring at him from behind Stan threw him for a loop. Stan’s much less likely to fight Ford with their daughter-Ford unknowing-present, so he just pushes and pushes until Ford explains everything.

So Stan sticks around to help Ford, and eventually Fiddleford, defeat Bill, subverting Weirdmaggedon. Stan and Ford grow close again over that period, and Stan tells Ford he’s Hadley’s other dad and cue family bonding.

Now in one AU, the portal fight still happens and Fors goes through the portal for 30 years. In this one, Hadley, once Stan lets her, helps with the portal, but she also uses the lab for her own personal projects, like a prosthetic for when a lab explosion causes Stan to lose a leg. Dark I know but meh. And instead of Dipper and Mabel being Shermie’s grandkids, they’re Hadley’s kids, Ford and Stan’s grandkids, so they grew up knowing all the weirdness of the town and about Ford.

Some things that stay consistent through the billions of AUs

-Hadley has partial heterochromia, central to be exact.

-Stan and Hadley both sometimes go by Lee

-Because they’re both “Lee”, they made their own language, “Leenglish” where it’s just the “Lee” pronounced with different tones and lengths

-Hadley takes after both Stan and Ford a lot, Ford’s intelligence (times like 10) and Stan’s penchant for showmanship and conman abilities.

-she graduated high school and college early (think kind of like Spencer Reid), getting multiple degrees as kind of a “Fuck you” to Ford, proving that he’s not the smartest man in the world as he likes to think (her thoughts) many of these degrees being physics degrees to help with the portal

-At first, she honestly kind of hates Ford, hates how he hurt her dad, hates how he abandoned them him, and most importantly, she hates how similar she is to him. How she knows that sometimes Stan looks at her and just sees Ford, even though he’s never once compared them (he does not, Stan’s just always amazed at his wonderful daughter, these are Hadley’s issues taking front). Oh yeah, she has a lot of internalized self hatred issues that she projects onto Ford for the longest time. She also has his anger issues and ability to hold a grudge for the longest time. None of these are my personal feelings towards Ford, I love his character, but I tried to draw upon my own personal feelings on feeling abandoned by a parent

-Surpisingly chill with her dads being Incest Twins, but telling them to not be too affectionate and mushy in front of her because ew, those are her dads and also ew they’re old.

Bad ending would actually be good ending for Fiddleford I think, because Stanley knows and is fond of Fiddleford so would probably try to stay friends with him and help with his addiction (unless he's transphobic 🔫🔫🔫) but that might just be me shipping fiddlestan (Stanley still being in love with the Ford from his childhood that he hadn't seen since they had moved to this damn town but Fiddleford is his friend and Fiddleford loves him and doesn't hit him or call him fat or a girl so maybe he can learn to love him back-- but then Ford is back and he's happy and silly and playing ddnmd with Dipper and helping Mabel dress up Waddles and he hasn't raised a hand or his voice to Stan even once and Stan loves him, he's almost like he was and Stan loves him even after all the hurt but Stan's been with Fiddleford for 30 years--)

So first of all i honestly didn't know if fidds would be or not transphobic, in one hand ITS THE 80S AND HE'S A HILLBILLY I MEAN WHY WOULDN'T HE (no offense to anyone but we need to get real, Trans people were treated more like an attraction than like people and trans men were more like a myth than something visible on the eyes of society of the time, as much as i know you would like to I don't think it could be that easy 🤷) but on the other side as much as i love suffering i don't see fidds like a rude person, hes a coward come on 🙄 and stanley even as a woman as a tough voice and is stronger and anchor than him and could give him a good punch if he wanted so i don't think he would even dare to tell him something lol. Best answer i could give would be that no fidds not transphobic, but he's quite ignorant on the subject, respect stanley and calls him accordingly to his identity but he's still kinda confused about that. 🙇🙇

Second, I'm not into fiddlestan but who cares, the real problem is HOW MUCH OF A GOOD ENDING CAN YOU CALL THAT 😅😅😅???? that is so nope it's hilarious. I made a post once about how I thought fiddleford was the worst partner ever for anyone which you can find yourself if you want because people will see this in that tag even though I won't tag it that and I'm not gonna make them read why I hate that ship.

also, the shopify "shop" app decided I am a trans woman. I don't know why (most of my purchases are frilly clothes and makeup, which cis women--not that I'm one of those either--buy much more often) but it took me 3 days to convince the app that I'm much more interested in a binder for ouji days than magical dick-hiding panties.

I always have more thoughts on bi ford!(bi ford? More like hello ford amirite?)Ford is never quite sure how to tell the kids, or even if he should. He's a private person in general and given the lack of resources for a while he just thought an odd mixture of "everyone feels this way" and "you're broken because of course you are." He doesn't even know if they would understand, so he just keeps quiet about it. (Because I think this topic isn't brought up in fanfic enough: if Ford is from the 80s, Ford would conceivably believe that all contact with the kids would be severed if he came out to them. Heck this happens now, too)Stanley, on the other hand, being a Good Grunkle, tries to kind of gauge how Ford reacts to certain things for his very queer niblings, without outing them. Eventually, Stan and Ford have one of their very few Actually Civil pre-weirdmageddon conversations and Ford's like "oh by the way I'm bi, is it okay to tell kids that in this dimension?" and Stan, being a Good Brother, says "the kids could use another Role Model" and then winks while saying the word wink out loud. So Ford winds up telling Dipper first, because he relates to Dipper and also he feels like Mabel is Too Cool to hang out with him (a topic I've explored in other posts but would be happy to expound upon at a later date) so he's just around Dipper first after the conversation with Stan. Ford brings it up awkwardly ("So... You know how your parents are a man and a woman? Who love each other very much? Well some people can fall in love with someone of their same gender and--" "Grunkle Ford I'm trans. I'm also like, 12, and from California I know what the word gay means" "Oh thank god") and is incredibly relieved to know just how much things have progressed in the thirty years he's been gone. Dipper is pretty glad to have a queer adult in his life besides Grunkle Stan, even more excited that The Author is super bi. Telling Mabel is easier than telling Dipper, now that Ford knows what to expect. They trade advice on how to get dates of various genders (Fords previous romantic experience is Fiddleford, that one date he had in high school, and maybe some aliens he picked up at a bar, he's just happy to be included) and just Vent about bi and pan issues while Ford braids Mabels hair.
