"Hey, Chandler," Ross says, leaning up against the locker beside Chandler's. He'd been clinging to Chandler lately, which made more sense the more Chandler thought about it. They'd been friends since middle school, and now it was senior year, and they were planning to go to the same college, yeah, but they were getting vastly different degrees and Ross never was very good at making friends. Not that Chandler was great at it either.

Chandler sucks in a deep breath through her nose and slams her locker, leaning back against it once it's closed. "What is it now, Ross?" she asks, wishing she had a cigarette based on the look on Ross' face.

"Well," Ross sighs, "You know about the Prom, and how I haven't found a date yet," he trails off, looking over at Chandler.

Chandler snorts. "Oh God, good. Prom sucks, man, I mean, who wants to dress up like that anyway? I'm just going to stay home and watch whatever's on, probably. I think there's a Star Trek re-run tonight, if you wanna swing by," she offers, raising her eyebrows at Ross.

He only groans in response. "You know I have a math test tomorrow, and my mom will kill me," Ross says, "She'll kill you too, y'know."

"Fine, fine, whatever," Chandler relents, "So you don't want to watch Star Trek with me and you want to go to Prom? Who the hell are you?"

Ross shrugs, looking down at his feet. "I was kinda hoping you'd like, come with me to Prom. And we could watch Star Trek after on my DVR, you know I've got the good episodes on tape, and maybe like, just have fun?" Ross rambles, refusing to look at Chandler as he offers.

Chandler laughs, a full-on, throaty, uninhibited laugh, hands on her knees from its power. "Wow, good one Ross, really had me there," she says, rolling her eyes and leaning back again, chuckling some more.

"I'm not kidding, Chandler."

They both fall silent.

"Ross," Chandler starts, nervously laughing, "You know why we're best friends, right?"

Nodding, Ross answers, "We both like Star Trek and have been bullied our whole lives, yeah," he trails off, not liking the look on Chandler's face.

Chandler shakes her head and shrugs. "Not exactly, really," she mutters, "I mean, I'm your friend because you don't care that I'm weird. I smoke and I dress like I'm straight out of the Dollar Store Men's Warehouse, and you don't care."

"Well," Ross interjects, "I wouldn't say Men's Warehouse. I'd say you still look pretty, it's not like you come off as masculine or anything," he laughs to himself, but Chandler's not laughing.

"Ross, I'm not going with you to Prom."

"Why not?" Ross asks, clearly annoyed.

"Because," Chandler sighs, "Because I think I'm a lesbian."

Ross goes quiet for a moment, tapping his foot on the dirty school floor, thinking. "Well," he starts, "We wouldn't have sex after. Or kiss. You could just show up in a nice dress and we'd pretend. We could watch Star Trek after, even," Ross begs, and Chandler knows why. If they go to the Prom, and both have dates, even if they're each other, they might not be losers for once in their lives.

Chandler forces a laugh. "I'm not the dress type. Kinda butch, I guess. Been thinking of cutting my hair, actually," she admits, unsure where the line between them is, when Ross will tell her to shut up, yell and tell her she can't be a lesbian, she can't, and even though they live in New York, she's not safe. She's not safe anywhere, not with Reagan in the goddamn White House and not with Bush set to succeed him.

Ross must sense Chandler's panic, setting a hand on her shoulder gingerly and shrugging. "We are losers. Maybe you could come with me in a suit? I've got one from a couple years ago that might fit you. My parents probably wouldn't care if you took it, they love you," Ross suggests under his breath, and even if he's ashamed of Chandler in some way, he's still offering her a lot, more than anyone else has before, and so she nods, shrugging beside her friend.

"I guess I'd go to Prom with you, then," Chandler says, "But only if I get to pick out which episode we watch afterwards."

Ross smiles. "Deal."

Figuring out which Hogwarts House you belong to has been around since the HP series came out. But I think there’s more to it than simply choosing to be in ‘the brave house’ or ‘the smart house.’ I think it reveals a lot about a person - or rather, a large aspect.

really long, personal rant about Matthew Perry.

I found out about Matthew Perry's passing a few hours ago. I'm absolutely devastated because even though I know they aren't the same person, Chandler Bing has meant so much to me over the course of my entire life. My parents have watched Friends around me ever since I was little, so much so that my siblings and I would recognize and try to send letters to the characters as if they were real people, because we didn't understand the divide between fiction and reality yet. Chandler was always my favorite because he was funny, but as I got older, I found myself relating to him heavily. The episode where he tried to express his femininity more and the others made fun of him for it really resonated with me. And all of the jokes about him being gay, or having a certain "quality" to him, or being effeminate, helped me realize what toxic masculinity looked like, because even as a child I knew that those jokes aged very poorly, and I didn't even know what "gay" meant, really. Eventually, I figured out I was trans. Chandler was a comfort to me, because even though he was awkward and sarcastic and not traditionally masculine, he was a man, and I knew that at least in those aspects, I could find a safety with his character. Friends has been a part of my life in the background for as long as I can remember, and it means so much more to me than I ever realized. Matthew's comedic talent, his stories, his struggles, and the heart and soul that he poured into Chandler Bing, will never leave me. Rest in Peace.

thoughts about my gender today:

it’s gotten to the point where i watch romantic gay porn to imagine myself being one of those two men.

the knowledge that i have breasts makes me want to cry and every time someone addresses me as ‘miss [last name]’ it feels like a punch into my guts.

but i don’t have to accept that i might be a trans man if i just keep shoving it down and tell myself i can at least wait until my mum dies one day because the thought of my mother, who is my only family, dying is easier to stomach than the thought of having to come out as transmasc (which i’m not. i’m not i’m not i’m not)

So you’ve probably heard of Friends right, the 90s american sitcom everyone’s watched, this shit

So Chandler is one of the characters in this show! He’s the dude on the left :D

So his full name is Chandler Muriel Bing and he’s played by Matthew Perry! He’s one of the main six friends in the show and he is very hot and also he’s very gender

So basically he grew up in a pretty weird household—his mom writes trashy novels with a ton of sex stuff and earns money from that. When he’s ten, his dad comes out as gay and his parents get a divorce—his dad fucks off to LA and basically becomes a drag queen, and his mother dumps him in a boarding school and continues writing novels!

Chandler meanwhile is insecure as fuck, desperate for any sort of approval or affection, and now fucked up by his parents splitting up! At age ten he starts smoking to cope, and he struggles with smoking his entire life

Due to his parents splitting up bc his dad was gay, he subconsciously associates being gay with the shit his parents pulled on him and turns out to be a homophobic piece of trash

Oh also as a kid he frequently walked in on his father in weird sexual situations with men and also his dad used him for dance routines and stuff—It’s a bit unclear and he doesn’t mention it often but it’s clear Chandler’s childhood was fucked up and his dad wasn’t the best—

So yes anyways to cope with all this he became really sarcastic and also funny (he’s so funny lmao) but yeah! He’s known for his humour and sarcasm

Anyways he goes to college and befriends Ross Geller, who’s the brother of Monica Geller, and her best friend is Rachel, and that’s how the gang begins to form!

When his coworker thought he was gay and tried to set him up with a guy he found out who the guy was and immediately said “well, he’s no Brian,” (another guy) and proceeded to say he could totally get Brian to date him

He kissed a guy in a bar once and when Ross brought it up he was like “In my defence, it was dark, and he was a VERY PRETTY GUY!”

He comments multiple times on attractive guys to the point where the girls stare at him weirdly 

One example is when he sees a pic of a guy Phoebe shows him and goes “WOOOAH” and then immediately goes “dont tell my girlfriend I said that-”
