I hate the way transphobes try to use lesbians to justify their transphobia (the poor helpless lesbians are being preyed on by men!!)
I hate that when a queer woman attracts a lot of negative attention, people throw masc lesbians under the bus (calling JoJo Siwa a masc lesbian even though she’s not masc and has said she doesn’t like the word lesbian and has said she’s pansexual)
I hate that when lesbians get popular for a positive reason, people try to insist they aren’t lesbians (yes, Reneé Rapp used to identify as bisexual, but she has since come out as lesbian. Ditto Chappell Roan. Chappell literally has multiple lesbian flag outfits.)
Everyone needs to be nice to lesbians please and thank you!!!
I’m not gonna do the thing where I say “nonlesbians need to reblog this!” Or whatever because that kinda thing bothers me, but I will ask you to look inside your heart and kill the lesbophobia that lives within it
***this post is about lesbians only, do not derail***

“The woman dies.
She dies to provide a plot twist. She dies to develop the narrative. She dies for cathartic effect. She dies because no one could think of what else to do with her. Dies because there weren’t any better story ideas around. Dies because her death was the very best idea that anyone could come up with.
‘I’ve got it! Let’s kill her off!’
‘Yes! Her death will solve everything!’
‘Okay! Let’s hit the pub!’
And so, the woman dies. The woman dies so the man can be sad about it. The woman dies so the man can suffer. She dies to give him a destiny. Dies so he can fall to the dark side. Dies so he can lament her death. As he stands there, brimming with grief, brimming with life, the woman lies there in silence. The woman dies for him. We watch it happen. We read about it happening. We come to know it well.”
- The Woman Dies by Aoko Matsuda (translated by Polly Barton)

Tumblr Adults ™ are so annoying they’re all like “I love cursing to look cooler and more punk even though I don’t know what that means and only like the AeStHeTiC and I love dunking on those stoopid kids for being pUrItEeNs (saying pedophilia is bad) and I loooove being a man defender and protecting them from the haggard evil Women and dykes while being a quirky “genderfuck ™” and being the ugliest person to ever exist 🤪” like you do realize no one actually likes you in real life right. They’re all just tolerating you if they haven’t blatantly told you already that they hate you.

Transphobia is almost always rooted in misogyny.
Be it toward trans women or trans men, the talking points always come back down to the same argument: Women are defenseless, and cannot make decisions about themselves.
Let's break that down!
Obviously, transphobes (and TERFs) focus primarily on Transfem people. In media, it's trans women that are the butt of the joke, and if you spend even a second in Transphobia-related spaces you'll notice the overwhelming difference between discussion of transfem and transmasc individuals.
The discussion boils down to the same point: Trans women are men, and therefore, they are predators. To cis men, it is because they are "tricking" them. To cis women, it is because they're, simply put, 'still men'. This is indicative of two things:
On the side of cis men, women are an object. Misogyny.
On the side of cis women, women are victims of men. Misogyny.
To explain that last point further- It's true that women face massive oppression in the patriarchy, but by simply assuming that a woman is inherently a victim, it reinforces a misogynistic standard that women will always be victims, and that this gap in power is not a symptom of a misogynistic society, but simply a fact of life. Hence... Internalized misogyny.
So... Why aren't trans men talked about as much in these spaces?
It's because the existence of transgender men directly opposes the transphobic rhetoric. If transfem are secretly predators trying to prey on women, what are trans men? Are they women trying to prey on men? No, that can't be right- Because in a transphobe's view, these are still women, and women are inherently the victim.
Thus, the next argument is born: Trans men are delusional women that are victims of a patriarchal society, and need rescuing.
Think about that for a second. If you're a transphobic person reading this, or even someone just questioning it, I just want you to think about the implications of that sentence.
Do you believe that women are incapable of making decisions for themselves? Do you believe that a woman who goes against the greater society's idea of a woman is delusional and must be fixed?
See, we're quickly slipping into extremely dangerous territory here. It leads into lesbophobia, and the idea that a woman must also be with a man, and if she's not? She just needs to be protected and shown the truth.
Even disregarding sexuality and identity entirely, we come into the topical snare of abortion rights. Are women who want abortions delusional? After all, bringing this back to the original point- If women aren't capable of making decisions about their own bodies, about transitioning (a "life-altering, permanent decision"), then... Surely they also can't choose to have an abortion, or tattoos, or piercings, or any other permanent decisions.
This is misogyny.
A lack of bodily autonomy is a problem of the patriarchy. Dismantling the patriarchy is to embrace bodily autonomy, and yes, that includes for transgender people.
I've talked about the TERF persppective here a fair bit, so for fairness sake I want to quickly go into the viewpoints of a transphobic man to further the point that transphobia is rooted in misogyny.
The talking points of cis men on trans men are mostly physical objectification. Some believe that trans men are forsaking a woman's duty, and boil him down to his intimate parts- This is misogyny, in believing that a woman's only purpose is to please men.
Others are emasculated, clearly upset by the transformation that makes them feel inferior, and pulls into question their own masculinity. This is, surprisingly... Also misogyny. It is a direct influence of the patriarchy- That women must be small and meek, and men must be big and strong. A dismantling of that ideology would make a man, who believes in it, lash out. Thus, this is misogyny.
Misogyny is at the root of almost every transphobic talking point. Misogyny, misinformation, and religious extremism.
TERF ideology is not about protecting women, it is about hating men, even if that means trampling over their own in the process. It is not feminism, it's just transphobia.
To address transphobia, we must address misogyny, and to depower misogyny, we must embrace transgender people.

inanimate insanity and its lesbian queerbait problem: a rant
(made by a lesbian)
TW: DISCUSSIONS OF LESBOPHOBIA, MYSOGINY, AND TOXIC RELATIONSHIPS
okay, I have been really wanting to get this off my chest for a very long time since I joined the ii fandom and watched s2 and s3.
when watching and analysing everything, something really did not sit right with me, and that is the treatment of sapphic ships in the show. sapphic relationships in the show are treated very differently compared to gay and hetero relationship
a relationship for a hetero couple in the show can usually go like this:
the two characters, male and female meet for the first time -> they start to interact frequently and start to form a "bond" -> halfway through the series, something happens between them, causing their relationship to fall apart -> but a few episodes later, they make up, and all is well -> fanbase really likes ship -> creators make it canon
---
however, a relationship for a sapphic couple in the show goes a little something like this:
the two characters, both female, meet for the first time -> they start to interact frequently and start to form a "bond" -> girl 1 starts to visibly show romantic feelings towards girl 2 -> a few episodes in, girl 2 does something "toxic" or "mean" towards girl 1, and their relationship falls apart and it is like that for the rest of the show -> fanbase deems it as "toxic" -> creators don't even give the ship a second chance
or alternatively:
two characters, both female, start interacting for one or two episodes -> they seem really into one another -> they never have a single interaction ever again after that
---
I could go on for ages about more examples of this, there are so many sapphic relationships in the show that had so much potential
tacomic had so much potential
soapmic had so much potential
cabtube had so much potential
clovercab had so much potential
candlecab had so much potential
but yet, sapphic relationships in the show are either doomed by the narrative or demonised the fuck out of
---
tl;dr: they're have been many sapphic ships in inanimate insanity that had so much potential but they are all doomed by the narrative

So there's an online newspaper article in my country that is claiming that political lesbians are lesbians, and on Lesbian Visibility Week AND day mind you.
As "oh women are tired from men and they *choose* to be with other women instead, they're lesbians :)"
No, fuck off, we aren't a fad, a choice, a trend, we aren't lesbians because we tired of men and choose to not date them, we are lesbians because not being attracted to men is something we do naturally! Non-lesbians, stop trying to equate lesbian to a choice and much less framing it as a "slay queen" moment.
TERFs and bi lesbians DNI you're the kind of people this post is directed at after het women.

okay no because i am so fucking TIRED of male content creators using female friendship/"sisterhood" to discredit popular f/f ships??????
obviously this is about wenclair, OF COURSE THIS IS ABOUT WENCLAIR.
in case you weren't aware, wednesday co-creators miles millar and al gough just had an interview where they adressed the potential of wenclair being canon in season 2. millar started talking about the show's central "idea of sisterhood", of "exploring the friendship" in future seasons and not letting their vision get "misdirected by fans."
what the fuck. i know the title of the article linked says they're open to this relationship becoming romantic, but it really doesn't sound like that to me.
it's glaringly obvious that wenclair is FAR more popular than wenxavier and wentyler combined. a general majority of fans agree that the wednesday love triangle was lackluster and unnecessary. if the creators haven't decided on making wenclair canon, they're missing out on a massive opportunity to skyrocket the popularity of the show.
for an example of the popularity that wednesday could reach, let me remind you that the owl house, known for its canon f/f romance, reached second on tumblr's top 22 of 2022, after stranger things. lumity ranked number 7 on the ships list, being the second highest sapphic pairing on that list (the first being a stranger things pairing, of course).
if wednesday's creators committed to wenclair, they could be seeing popularity of that height. but no, they've decided that they want to "explore the friendship" instead.
how could these creators decide that representing "female sisterhood" is more important than sapphic representation, or more importantly, the show's popularity?
female friendships are NOWHERE near that rare that wednesday and enid's platonic relationship needs to be prioritized. if wednesday's creators wanted to show a sibling-esque relationship while also making wednesday and enid's relationship romantic, they could focus on wednesday's relationship with her brother pugsley or with eugene. hell, if they needed a female friendship, they could develop her relationship with bianca or create a new female character for wednesday to bond with.
this is not about female friendships at all. this is blatant homophobia.
there is ample room for female friendships in any piece of media. refusing to include a sapphic relationship because it interferes with the "friendship" or "sisterhood" of two characters (cough, cough, SOMAN CHAINANI) is just a horrible excuse to hide the fact that you're too lazy and homophobic to include sapphic representation.
which begs the question ... why are men in charge of these descisions at all?
men, ESPECIALLY straight men, have no right to be deciding the fates of female characters' sexualities and romance plotlines. they have absolutely no experience with what it means to be a queer woman in modern society. especially with the blatant bias against sapphic representation in media. while heartstopper, they both die at the end, and song of achilles are enjoying immense popularity due to their representation of m/m relationships, shows like the owl house and first kill are being axed just for their f/f representation.
there isn't just a demand for proper sapphic representation. there is a NEED. and it shouldn't be denied just because a man wants to focus on female friendships, something he doesn't know shit about.

What tf is a cis guy lesbian. What has our community come to? Conversion therapy is back but under a different label and it's all because of y'all.
Me when i forget that bigender ppl whos genders are both cis man and woman at the same time exist, me when i forget that a multigender person can also be a cis man, me when i forget that a lot of ppl that at first identify as cis men and relate to lesbianism can then later realise they're not completely cis, me when i disregard that lesbians can have complicated relationships with their genders and/or orientations and that it's none of anyone's business what labels they choose but theirs, and that people using unusual labels in good faith is not the reason why bigotry exists.
Bigots do not care how we are queer, but that we are queer, they want to get rid of us all. Nor are bigots even aware of these niche labels half of the time to begin with.
When a cishet guy harasses a lesbian by saying stuff like "im a lesbian too", that is not identifying in good faith, that guy doesnt actually use that label in general, and is 99.99% not aware queer cis guy lesbians are even a thing, nor does he care. Even if we "didnt allow" that label, it literally wouldn't matter to any bigot, it'd only affect queer people w complicated genders, because those are the people actually using it and in need of community.
I have no idea what conversion therapy has to do with this.
Gotta love the blaming queer ppl that they personally dont understand for a deadly practice bigots still force onto queer ppl to this day though.

It's so interesting when people say "mspec lesbians have a long and complicated history" and then you actually research said long and complicated history and it's all just biphobia. That's it. It's just people thinking person dating opposite gender = straight and person dating same gender = gay. It's the most straightforward bi erasure I've ever seen and I REMEMBER even in the early days of tumblr bisexuals fought against people reducing their sexuality down to just gay and straight. And now while people are clamoring to be bi lesbians, I see no one vying to reclaim "bihet", which is just the same thing in another direction. Really makes you think

Gonna answer a bunch of asks under the cut (both good and bad) so that I don’t keep subjecting my followers to the discourse
If you send anymore asks about this I’m just going to block and delete (well wishes are appreciated but I probably won’t answer those either, sorry!)
Tumblr media
Afdhsjjfhs yaaaay *is launched into the air*
Tumblr media
Thank you for bringing this up, it’s amazing how many people don’t understand how intersectionality works at all!
Tumblr media
Posting about hating women and posting about hating men are not at all the same thing. Misogyny is real and harmful and misandry does not and will never have the institutional power that misogyny has. It doesn’t matter if you’re a gay man or a straight man, you will still have power over women that they will never have over you.
Tumblr media
*insert the “they had us in the first half not gonna lie” meme here* 😂 thank you❤️
Tumblr media
People who like men and are insecure about that have to make it everyone else’s problem. It’s exactly as you said, they can’t handle when someone doesn’t center men in their life 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
Once again: do you expect straight people to say “it still stings when you say you hate straight people🥺” no, you don’t.
Your friend sounds like a freak and probably did some psychological damage to you. Now you need to unpack it so you can be normal around people who dislike men without making it about yourself
Tumblr media
And I love my trans man peers 🥰
Tumblr media
The fragility of a male ego is fascinating, wish they didn’t inflict that on lesbians
Tumblr media
If your gut reaction to seeing someone complaining about men is to think they’re a terf you really need to unlearn that. If I complain about straight people or cis people, would you automatically associate me with bigots? No, you wouldn’t.
I’m complaining about people who oppress me. Are you doing anything to oppress women? No? Cool, understand that my post isn’t about you, and move on. I shouldn’t need to hold your hand and provide all the nuance in the world so that you know it isn’t about you. That’s just “not all men.”
Alright the end everybody 💃

“stop policing queer people and their identities!!” “stop acting like a cop men can be lesbians”
you know lesbians are one of the biggest victims of violence from cops right. Especially POC lesbians and ESPECIALLY black lesbians and ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY trans lesbians. Right.

I hate being a lesbian sometimes.
Ever since I heard about bi lesbians and it gaining traction for some godforsaken reason, I keep having to combat my intrusive thoughts. It’s like comphet but WORSE. Instead of them trying to convince me that I like men, they’re telling me I’m a horrible transphobic biphobic terf every hour of every day.
I think about any form of boundaries? “You’re being too strict, just like how strict you are to poor bisexuals. Do better.”
I think about sapphic love? “You clearly are too conservative and exclusionary to deserve to think about sapphic characters. Do better.”
And it sucks, because I’ve also been getting intrusive thoughts about sapphics and trans people who did nothing wrong to me personally. I keep assuming every queer person around me is pro-lesbophobia and I’M in the wrong. It’s terrible.
I hope one day I can grasp that I have the right to think poorly of people who look down on my identity. I really do.
I'm so sorry you're going through this.
Non-lesbians don't understand what its like being a lesbian. Shut out of access to safety/privilege by not being men and not being with men.
It's genuinely really fucked up that our label is such a battleground right now. It is so fucked up that they're making us defend our safe space. It's fucked up that they disbelieve that we are not men and do not like men. It's like they're throwing back in our faces the ways we're shut out of society. Mocking us because of things we can't help. And they don't listen or care when we tell them it hurts us.
I'm sorry that it's causing you such mental harm. Our community should not be doing this to us. We deserve love and safety.
Please reach out to me if you need anything. Lesbians need to stick together.
(this post is inclusive of trans women. Trans women are women. Trans men are men.)

So, i do have a question regarding bi/pan/omni/etc lesbians, mspec lesbians, lesboys, gay/straightbians and he/him lesbians. I follow another poll blog for lesbians and all those sexualities are welcome but im not exactly sure if those are actually valid sexualities and not just made up by people who want to feel special and/or harm the lgbtq+ community. Ive tried using google but that wasnt really helpful. In my opinion, this feels made up as (for example) a person who only uses he/him pronouns is a man and a man being only attracted to women is straight, so therefore he/him lesbians dont exist. I could be wrong cause im kinda new to this whole lesbian thing as ive been identifying as bi for years and i just recently noticed im actually a lesbian. Thats also the main reason im asking cause firstly, i dont wanna hate anyone in the community, especially if im hating them for no valid reason, i also wanna understand these sexualities (if they are valid) and im kinda afraid of asking the person behind the other blog as i may come across as a person hating lesbians and im asking here because this has become one of my favorite safe spaces.
Im sorry for the long text but i really want another opinion on this topic
All of the identities you mentioned in the first few lines above aren't legitimate ones. They are people attracted to men who are trying to take the lesbian label for themselves, which is lesbophobia and homophobia (two different forms of oppression mind you)
They are made up since it's basically just being bisexual.
But anon, he/him lesbians aren't men. They're still lesbians, pronouns don't translate to gender. I know several butches who use he/him pronouns. Pronouns are just a way in which you refer to yourself and don't have to align with your gender.
If you really think that he/him lesbians aren't valid this blog isn't for you. Block and move on
