Thinking of femme!sirius and remus being in a stagnating marriage. They keep talking past each other, keeping secrets, losing their connection.

Sirius feels lonely, and even more so because he realises he isn't a woman after all. He has always been more butch, after a youth trying to be the most feminine woman he could imagine. But now it feels different. He finds that he's trans, and he doesn't know how to approach remus with that topic.

Remus meanwhile has a few key moments that reveal a lot about himself... it turns out he is gay. That makes his love for sirius complicated, and for a long time he tries to think of himself as bi, but it never feels right.

One day sirius has enough of it, and he tries to confront remus, but bc it's remus we're talking about, they break up afterwards.

Both suffer.

But sirius uses this time to move back in with Jily, and to start his transition there.

They avoid each other (mostly, remus avoids sirius, but sirius has his own moments)

So the first time remus sees the transitioning sirius is on a photo on the potters fridge. He immediately falls in love, though he can't believe that this is sirius (he's sure it's regulus, despite the fire and passion that sirius bleeds from every pore)

Long story short, they get back together, but this time remus is gay, and sirius is a man

everyone’s always talking about how james is such an amazing dad, and yeah, he’s awesome, but can we take a moment to talk about regulus as a parent? i mean, let’s just agree that he’s sooo attentive, and sooo loving, and he always lets their kid hang out with him in the kitchen while he’s cooking or cleaning, just listening to them go off about random stuff like, "daddy, mr. snuggles (aka the stuffed bunny) said he doesn’t like carrots. we had a fight." and regulus will give this exaggerated shocked look and be like, "no way? seriously? you’re telling me?" all wide-eyed and dramatic, and they’ll just go back and forth like that for hours, because their kid’s got the same endless chatter as james

AHHHHHHH headcanon where james, sirius and peter at the beginning of their first year thought that remus was trans because he was very grumpy at a specific time of the month and when he always went to the nurses' office ("Obviously for cramps" ). He never undressed in front of them, which confused them much more, even though he was actually only ashamed of his scars.

After finding out about that he was a werewolf they told him they thought he was trans and he simply says, "oh, yeah, that too."
