dæmon au! using the masks is the easy solution so piedad's dae would be a silver marten rabbit named asterión (they/she/he) because that's the name of the minotaur of crete but also because it means "starry". adam has a rough-legged hawk named solana (she/her), nicknamed "sol" which is literally just "sun".
#piedad stims by petting asterión when she's overstimulated#solana tends to just take a flight to keep adam's brain from exploding when he's stuck somewhere boring#candy's mask is of a nondescript dog but i like to think she could have a mutt that's got some saluki in it#so her dæmon is hairy and tol. his name would be something like orlando???#pia.txt#( wip ) greek tragedy!

What About Me? Ch. 3
FINALLY HERE SORRY I TOOK TWO DAYS HAHHHH
PAIRING: Jax x Reader (Romantic) / Gangle x Reader (Platonic)
TW: Name-calling, slight existential dread
CONTENT: You stand up to Jax on behalf of Gangle.
“RABBIT!” came your bellow of anger, stomping up the hallway. Your sights were set on the periwinkle bunny boy, fingers curled into fists. He turned, arms crossed. From even here, you could see the smug grin. He held Gangle’s mask in one hand.
“Oh? What’s wrong, sweetie?” he mocked a motherly concern, “someone hurt your crybaby friend’s feelings?” You snarl, eyes full of fiery fury, “Give it back, you tool!” you snap. You were momentarily surprised this word was allowed, but it wore off quickly.
You stormed right up to him, jamming a finger in his chest, “You had better give me that mask, you spiteful, conniving, sorry excuse of a man!” you snap. He’s stunned for a moment, unable to say anything, then glares at you, “Who do you think you’re talking to like that?!”
“I would have thought it was obvious, but I guess I overestimated your intelligence!” you sneer, hands on your hips. Jax snarles, “Take it!” and tosses it over your head. You leaped backward, trying to catch it, and somehow you managed to. You’re impressed with yourself, and it boosts your confidence greatly.
“That’s the best throw you’ve got?” you chuckle, “yeah, you were the last picked in high school PE.” You omit the fact that you, as well, were picked last due to your clumsy nature. You spin around, wiggling your fingers like a hoity-toity rich lady, “Ta-ta~” your tone is mocking. You giggle up the hallway, slipping into your room, “Gangle, I got it,”
She looks up, delightfully surprised, “You did? How?” she takes the mask, slipping it over her tragedy mask, a smile finally gracing her face. You shrug casually, but can't stop smiling. “Eh, just what he least expected. I had a comeback.”
She snorts, “I kind of regret not following you… It would be funny…” You flap your hands, stimming slightly, “Oh, no need. He looked like this,” you give an exaggerated expression of surprise. This makes Gangle snicker harder, “I really regret missing it now!”
You enjoy a good laugh together before she turns to the desk, “Hehe… here, I have a rough sketch…” she wiped away a tear from laughing too hard, “What do you think?” She held up the sketch; Naruto in his sage form, the lines smooth and expertly lain.
“That's amazing… I was gone for less than two minutes how did you do that?” She squeaked, embarrassed, and pulled the paper close to her chest. “I used to draw caricatures, I guess I never lost the speed, even in this style.
“Well it's impressive, that's for sure,” you hop into your bed, stretching out, humming to yourself. Gangle glances at you, grinning, “thank you!” You roll onto your side, propping your head up with your hand, “What’s Jax’s problem anyway?” you ask suddenly.
Gangle shrugs, pulling out the liners, “He just sort of showed up like that. I don’t think he’s got a problem, I think he’s just mean naturally.” You sigh, rolling your eyes, “Of course, in a weird world where you can’t escape there's gotta be a bully,” you grump sarcastically, “because what else would you have?” Gangle shrugs, “I don’t know if there is a rhyme or reason to who gets brought here. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern.” You flop onto your back, staring at the ceiling, the existentialism of this place far beyond your reasoning. This place was nothing like you’ve ever thought, and yet you were experiencing it. “...Weird.”

me rambling about how steven perceives himself pre and post incident and some other shit
this was supposed to be about his autism ( among other things like his depression ) bc thinking about how he dealt with and handled it throughout his life, pre incident and post incident, especially at the time he wouldve been alive pre-incident ( somewhere in the 80s - 90s likely ) is interesting and thinking ab his dynamic w pallet town and. everything is so.. grabhebhrhdbhn. God. I got off the rails. apologies. this is long as most things i ramble ab are.
Also known as me just. Talking about all of stevens life and my hcs and aspects of it because its really interesting to me. I think people underthink how much everything fucking affected him despite the story of SR being a tragedy and its so interesting and deeply depressing to me . i love overanalyzing mixed with headcanons that feel in character .
tldr; he masked a lot . and post incident (obviosuly) he was very fucking depressed
_________
steven always wanted to be a role model to the people of pallet town. thats like, his thing. its how i interpret the implied text ( like of red looking up to steven ) and everything. he babysat red and blue, and he specifically wanted to be someone the children of pallet town could see as a role model. pallet town is a small, countryside town. it did not have anyone like that. at the time the most it had was professor oak.
due to this, it probably also fueled his need to become champion - its just a further example of him wanting to be someone others could look up to, especially for the people of pallet. and probably to some extent wanting to prove that you can do anything if you put your mind to it, no matter who you are or where you come from
... but because of his need to be a role model, he tended to act in a sort of persona that wasnt. entirely him but also kinda was? basically, he tried to act cool because it makes all of that easier. him having a charmander, an extraordinarily rare pokemon, helped with that persona he liked to keep. ( especially later when he realized miki was special in how she evolves early and is stronger than others of her species. this did not help the Incident. )
although his mask would often go down around the people he was comfortable with. his brother, obviously, daisy, and to an extent red and blue. it slipped more often around them but they still thought he was cool, he just is like. also a dork loserboy under it. which is charming!
hes very much a people person or at least tried to be. small town. pallets the type of place you go outside and greet your neighbor, talk about what went on with your days, and then wave goodbye. he was kind of a natural at those sorts of interactions, but some other aspects of socializing were kind of hard for him, mostly admitting fault or fears and as such, hiding them deep deep away.
this probably contributed to the Incident somehow. he had a fear of death and by extent and arguably more, loss. he was very protective of people along with being pretty careful with anything that could accidentally hurt someone.
for comfort objects, he likes things like weighted blankets as they help him a lot with sleeping - if miki isnt sleeping on his bed, he needs a weighted blanket to mimic the feeling as he just always needs some sort of comfortable weight on him as he sleeps, and he also might have trouble with sleeping in general. is this me projecting? yes. but to a degree all of my hcs about his autism are me projecting my own autism both bc i love to project and because i genuinely think he'd be similar based on the canon text.
the most he'd have for a stim toy is like a rubix cube because he grew up in the 90s, and honestly thats what he prefers - not as a puzzle its just satisfying to move around, and even then thats probably more of mikes thing tbh. if you gave him a more modern one he would not be interested in it and would feel sort of infantilized ( remember that he has the need to put up a cool sort of persona ). he stims by more natural ways, mainly combing through his hair when hes nervous and pacing for the same reason. when he's happy im unsure bc i dont imagine him as a like. whatever you call fist moving up and down excitedly. bbbuut maybe? he'd like stress balls but theyre too firm for him ... once again this is all projection and bc i think he'd be similar. autoassume this for any of my hcs abt steven that are like this
not steven but once again i think mike is more of the stimtoy guy . steven is the 'i am going to take a one hour walk to destress myself' type of guy . which leads into him wandering kanto a lot post-incident, even if sluggishly
his special interests were probably battle strategies and pokemon in general. but this is up in the air bc i hc him as yk using miki for everything. battle strategies are more of reds thing, so.... who knows. battling in general, probably. the love of the game tbh
miki is basically his like... support pokemon in various ways. kind of. he never wants to be seperate from her and is very attached to her. in what way you interpret this is up to you, but for me its emotional support. maybe physically too? unsure of the details. also she is similarly clingy to steven as steven is to her. big ass oversized dog of a pokemon.
his strategy was mostly using miki by herself. everyone else was mostly for TM's and emergency backup - i've stated this before i think but if theres a serious issue miki cant handle he'll try to take advantage of the environment or think outside the box, akin to battles in the pokemon anime .
he's had a few close scrapes but i hc him as an undefeated trainer before everything. this, him becoming champion and finally giving pallet town it's local legend, and miki being so strong and unique while being his main pokemon... yea, this didn't make the incident easy for him whatsoever. especially given the legacy he left behind became very quickly tainted, making him more frustrated and depressed than anything. a local legend turned into a cautionary tale. i don't think people explore that enough so I WILL !!!
this is technically just me rambling about how he is pre-incident and how his need to be a role model affected his life and . other mental problems he had huh . Well. Real as hell ig. anyways back to it
________________________
post incident he is blatantly a "i hate people" autistic . Shy vs introverted. oh no... people. vs ewww people. If anyone knows that image he is the 'eww people' with the middle fingers .
he barely interacts with anyone due to obvious reasons and his social battery is on a constant low since he can never fully recover it anymore due to just. everything.
before mikes death, he was canonically depressed. walking sluggishly almost every day to mikis grave in the pokemon tower, likely staying there for hours or even overnight sometimes... his legs were definitely numb, his body was excruciatingly tired, he barely ate, slept, or took care of himself. he wanted to just die, slow or quick. at least he'd be with miki then.
he hated peoples pity, hated accepting the food or drinks they offered. he hated being even seen in this state. he wouldn't do anything about it though. it's not like his reputation could be repaired without her. so trying to keep up appearances didn't really matter anymore, as much as he hated it. he saw it as a personal failure in a sense, so he stopped keeping up that mask even if he showed his 'ugly' and vulnerable side he hated so much.
i don't think him being exiled by the same town he grew up in and heavily cared about helps. he has insane trust issues and this was the worst possible outcome. although in a more stable mind he cant blame them, it still obviously doesn't feel good to be considered a threat or a freak by your entire region, and then to be quickly forgotten about as everyone shoves anything about you under the rug. salt in the wound.
... he still cares, even if he acts like he doesn't. he always cared, he always cared far too much. he'll still sometimes look at pallet from the stone fence at night longingly. some people will report they see one red eye from the border, watching intently.
he does get things put inside said borders of his exiled ''enclosure''. like food so... either they didn't fully forget or they feel bad. he never gets to see who drops these off. whether theyre to ''appease'' the man they think is a monster or out of genuine goodwill is uncertain, but he appreciates it regardless.
he barely lives each day and lives off of frozen food at best. hes living in a dying old home, his heat definitely doesnt work so if he takes baths they're cold ones, his lights probably flicker and break a lot, and his house is just on the cusp of death half the time. depression and autism mixing together to make him not take care of himself whatsoever
he no longer cares about his self image so his personality if you ever somehow interact with him is very different. he's pretty blunt, straight to the point, and will give you that Autistic stare that makes you look like he wants someone dead. he doesn't, probably, he just has a bad resting face and a very intimidating glare. like the Too much eye contact vs Avoiding eye contact. he avoids it if hes nervous or flustered, though.
im stopping righ here idk what else to add. but. oghghrhg... Steven. Steeeveen.... he makes me so emo.
#wispy writes#moreso rambles but whatever#steven strangled red#i will once again reiterate so many of my steven hcs were fueled by a few things. mainly Faulty on ao3 and a few other fics.#headcanons#sr rambles

otto and alicent were talking about aegon being next in line for the throne for years. in the show, at least since aegon was a teenager, though that could well be more of a saying it explicitly now that he should understand what they expect of him than a talking about it for the first time sort of thing.
which is why it bothers me greatly that the show portrays helaena, already as queen, as oblivious to what that means and what is expected of her. if they always meant for aegon to be king, then they always meant for hel to be his queen. and even had she not been raised with that in mind, she grew up as a princess; she would have been taught she has duties and a certain way she needs to present herself. whether she likes it or tries to conform or sees the logic behing it is something else, but she wouldn't be ignorant as to the fact she is royalty and certain things are expected of her as a result.
for my helaena, i think that environment would just have extra forced her into masking; she would try to act as expected of her, often emulating behaviors she'd learn from alicent. she knows the rehearsed steps to make smalltalk at court, she knows the proper words to repeat to be courteous, and she hates every minute of large celebrations that are loud and full of people, but she does her best to sit still and endure (which often results in harmful stimming, like picking at her skin and nails) because it has always been enforced to her that this is how she has to behave.
the tldr here is i think it'd be dumb to have hel not be taught to conform or to know her duties an act accordingly. i don't think she'd easily agree to something like the funeral procession, but i do think she'd understand why that is being asked of her. she grew up a princess. her mother's side of the family likely raised her to be a queen. she would know the importance of the people's opinions and that her public appearances are meant to reflect on that.
personally i also think helaena would've cared to learn about the history and politics of the realm at large, and while i don't think her voice would be listened to all that much when it comes to matters of ruling, i think even then she might have tried to speak up on occasion. f&b includes helaena alongside alicent in trying to convince aegon to offer rhaenyra more generous terms. she was part of the council!! and while i doubt she liked being there, she would have seen it as a duty and, once again, tried to perform accordingly.
that, and the fact helaena was a beloved queen (enough that her death was the last drop for the commonfolk of kl to start a huge riot!!) just makes me think she'd have taken a more active role than the show has it. of course, a lot of the love helaena receives is sympathy as a tragic figure because of jaehaerys' murder (and later maelor's); but if she hadn't endeared herself to the people somehow, i doubt they'd react as viscerally to those tragedies as they do
#anyways no one can convince me she was raised by hightowers and they didn't at least try to instill in her a sense of duty#and what her role was and what it'd entail#* out of character: { dreamfyre stan }#* character study: { innocence died screaming }#i didn't proof read this 🫡

JEVIL
where do i begin with my funny little friend... jevil is a character that i have always thought was really fun: a secret difficult boss fight, a mysterious connection to gaster and overall i think he has a really funny personality, i've always really liked him! he wasn't my favorite character and i don't think i was as invested in this character as everyone else was in 2018, back when he was the most mysterious character that we had met so far, but when chapter 2 came out i kind of started to appreciate jevil more? Since we were all so focused on new content that made me remember how much i liked chapter 1 and my love for jevil grew more
I have always really liked his relationship with Seam even if we never see them actually interacting, I have mentioned before that they just seem to me like they would have a very Sam&Max dynamic asdfghjkl and i always like duos like that they are funny and endearing. And adding all that tragedy to their relationship makes it even stronger, I just really like these two and I don't care how their relationship is interpreted they are companions and i like them and if they don't talk to each other in the game again i will break my computer
I focus on him and Seam the most but Jevil is a character that is really fun to make interact with anyone, some based on canon material and others just fun concepts
I think the idea of him and Susie becoming friends (perhaps even family) is so sweet to me, these two have so many parallels and I love the way they interact, Susie is very blunt with him and that doesn't bother Jevil at all, they are two sharks prepared to fight!!
I personally like to think him and Gaster were genuine friends, that Gaster didn't mean for Jevil to end up the way he did, that they both just wanted a friend...
Him and Spamton are really funny, wacky cartoon characters in one room together what could go wrong, funny exes. I know I don't focus a lot on them but I like them and some very talented artists make such cool content of them that it makes appreciate them more, keep up the good work everyone
Jevil mentions Queen once but I really like to believe they got along really well, that maybe all the other kings were stuck-ups but she was always the one who found him funny the most..... 🥹 I think they are friends :)
Now for relationships that are completely made-up by me? Jevil and Toriel, they are friends to me, they are such close friends. Heartache used to be Jevil's theme!!!! They both like jokes!!!! They both have horns!!!!! They both feel trapped and lonely!!!!! They could be best of friends. I also think him and Papyrus could have really interesting interactions, they are both positive people, just two different kinds of positivity
Jevil is a secret boss that doesn't get much screen time and we barely know ANYTHING about him, so a lot of my headcanons are just based on what I believe he COULD have been like or could be like at the moment, it's all pure speculation and having fun with a character i like and that i think has a lot of potential, he's slowly just becoming an OC at this point lol. I like to believe he was a little prankster as a kid and the funny kid on school but he didn't have many friends, when he was a teen he goes through his 'emo phase' and tries to pretend he doesn't care about being a funny little jester anymore and focuses more on his 'grim reaper' style (and the reason why he does this it's not just because it's a funny idea it's because he's tired of being rejected for being so 'different', he's masking pretty much), when he's a young adult he goes back to trying to be a funny jester and he ends up becoming the court jester!! The rest is history and I think he meets Seam after he has been the court jester for a little while
I see Jevil as trans, ace and aroflux! Autistic as well! Jesters and rubber ducks are two of his biggest special interests, he stims with his hat, tail and hands and has a a chew stim toy in the shape of a spade! He of course also vocally stims all the time! He repeats words often and likes to imitate sounds. And I also really like the idea that he has a lisp!
This might sound silly but Jevil has helped me a lot with my confidence towards my autism this last year? Papyrus too, they both have helped SO much. I don't know, i'm a very insecure person and sometimes i think i'm extremely childish (not as in... a mean childish attitude, i mean having childish interests and things like that) or sometimes i can just feel very different from everyone around me, and thinking about Jevil i don't know makes me happy? Like i get it he's the court jester but he's a guy that likes playing games like roundabout and things like that, and he vocally stims all the time and it's established that he was very lonely but the people that cared about him? They cared, they cared a lot, he was someone that was missed. And uh... wow that means a lot i'm going to explode and cry
Anyway, i like jevil, worst character ever

Been sharing headcanons with @technicallymaximumkitty so I'm adding to this. Please add to it also.
[Putting it under a cut cuz it got long.]
Pentious is flighty on the whole trust thing so he's very hot and cold with the others but Charlie is patient and understanding and he develops a soft spot for her
That doesn't stop him from also doubting her sometimes. She's happy to have him at the Hotel but he knows there's no way it'll last, she's just glad her passion project has someone on board it doesn't matter if it's him or any wayward soul.
She reminds him that he's special and, yeah she does that with everyone but he IS special so it helps to hear.
He values appearances too much and strives to the The Best including misguided attempts to help around the Hotel. ("I washed all the dishes!" But he broke most of them and put the rest back in the wrong spots. "I Spruced up the art in some of the guest rooms!" But it's all portraits of him or depictions of tragedies, wars etc). Charlie praises his efforts and helpfully suggests that maybe these could be Team Projects? You've got so much initiative you can use that to motivate others!
He's always the first to jump in when she's brainstorming team building exercises and lesson plans.
They develop a slew of inside jokes and their own "language" of words and phrases that no one else gets.
They're both super emotional. He'll drop anything if she's upset to hear her out and she's always open to let him cry on her shoulder even though he's slimy and ugly cries - fountains of tears and snot and snake oils but It's Worth It God Damn It.
Charlie is fascinated by the variety of forms that sinners take and always found it super interesting but keeps that interest on the DL for fear of offending / objectifying / having her wonder misinterpreted as ~interest~ etc. Pentious can tell that she's curious about his tail and fangs and hood and it takes a long time but he slowly opens up to her prodding and she has No Tact at all. She pokes his eyes a lot and sometimes yanks his hood when she gets too excited.
In one of her well-meaning-but-ill-informed moments she supplies him with a TON of warm clothing - hats, scarves, sweaters, gloves, ETC because she Read About It and learned that Snakes Don't Do Well in Cold. Another resident sees him all bundled up he is clearly SWELTERING bc it's Hell and they live in the Pride Ring but he death glares over his scarves like If You Ruin This For Her I Will End You
He tries to do self-care things for her like brush her hair or paint her nails but he's Bad At It. She finds it endearing anyway.
Maybe after enough trust building he admits he finds her more demonic form interesting as well and this leads to her learning how to control it better, trigger it by choice and not only as an emotional response.
He sleeps like the Dead but starts noticing when Charlie seems tired or uncharacteristically cranky. Finds out that she's not sleeping well, has nightmares etc and offers to hypnotize her to help. She declines at first but after a particularly hard day gives in and allows him to do it. It's not something they do often and No One Else Can Know, but she gets the best sleep of her life(?) and is open asking again but only when she REALLY needs it.
They both stim, a LOT. Charlie is comfortable with her stims but Pentious has some masking to unlearn and being around her helps.
Pentious is a good outlet for Charlie to not be so perfect around so sometimes when she needs to vent but doesn't want to burden Vaggie she'll come to him. Especially over petty stuff.
They see Angel and Husk getting closer and Charlie wants to respect boundaries but also HOLY SHIT THEYRE HAPPY TOGETHER ITS SO CUTE so she gets Pent onboard with schemes to force romantic tropes between the two.
Pentious takes up baking and makes everything with Charlie in mind. He doesn't mind sharing with the others but if he makes something and Charlie doesn't get any he gets hissy about it.
They're both physically affectionate. The closer they get the more they are Constantly Touching. Hugging, cuddling, hand holding, dancing, nuzzling, etc. If he's coiled up somewhere Charlie plops herself into his "lap" without question.
They are both readers. Charlie prefers fantasy, fairy tales, kid's books with Good Morals (hard to come by in Hell); Pent prefers Classics, history, books on weapons and war (Charlie is conflicted on this one because the subject matter is ???), drama.
They take turns sharing their latest read, enjoying the excitement and company of the other despite having such different interests. They get into heated debates over certain aspects of weaponry and war, as well as the narrative and perceived lessons in their dramas and fables.
Uncouth ending cuz thats all i got fur now bye
Hey in addition to everything else I am dehydrated for Charlie/Pentious FRIENDship content.

It is Autism Acceptance Month starting tomorrow and here’s some reminders from me, an autistic woman:
Please do NOT support Autism Speaks! They are a hate group and do NOT help us autistic people in any shape or form. They literally made a whole horror-style short film called “I Am Autism” that said shit like “I’m visible in your children, but if I can help it, I am invisible to you until it’s too late”, “I will make sure your marriage fails”, and “I will fight to take away your hope. I will plot to rob you of your children and your dreams. I will make sure that every day you wake up you will cry, wondering who will take care of my child after I die?”. Another of their ad campaigns featured a mother talking about how she contemplated ending her own life AND her daughter’s because her daughter was autistic, and the only reason she didn’t was because she had a “normal” child who wasn’t autistic - AND SHE SAID THIS IN FRONT OF THE AUTISTIC GIRL.
DO 👏🏻 NOT 👏🏻 FUCKING 👏🏻 SUPPORT 👏🏻 AUTISM 👏🏻 SPEAKS 👏🏻
The “Light It Up Blue” stuff is also NOT okay because it’s associated with Autism Speaks, and also is based on the incorrect stereotype that only boys are autistic. Light it up red instead!
The puzzle piece symbol is also heavily associated with Autism Speaks, and it’s offensive because it implies that we’re difficult to solve, that we NEED to be solved, that we’re a puzzle to neurotypicals, that it’s a children’s disorder, even that we’re missing a piece or whatever. It was originally paired with a symbol of a weeping child, painting autism as some great tragedy. However it’s viewed, it’s not okay! Please use the infinity symbol instead! ♾
Listen to ACTUAL autistic people - it’s a month for actually autistic people, NOT autism moms™️ or parents (I’m not slamming all parents of autistic children, but there’s a certain type that we all know and hate) If you are not autistic, even if you know many autistic people, please do NOT speak over us! Learn from autistic creators!
No two autistic people are the exact same - it’s called a spectrum for a reason! And no, everyone is NOT “a little bit autistic”.
VACCINES 👏🏻 DO 👏🏻 NOT 👏🏻 CAUSE 👏🏻 AUTISM 👏🏻
Autism is also NOT caused by diet, bad parenting, infections etc., and NO, you cannot “cure” your autistic child with a “special healthy diet” - if you think your child has been “cured” by such a thing, the truth is that your child has learned that you do not accept the fact they are autistic, and they are masking just to please you instead of being who they actually are, which is extremely exhausting for us autistic people to do every day!
Autism is NOT a boys disorder! Girls are often undiagnosed because autism usually appears differently in girls than it does in boys, and girls are often more adept at masking because society demands social interactions between girls. We girls are often more aware of the demands society have of us - we learn how to copy and mimic our neurotypical peers so we can fit in and not experience rejections from them.
Meltdowns are NOT tantrums: they are not a choice, manipulative or attention seeking. Meltdowns are a result of sensory and/or emotional overload, and they often occur if we’re receiving too much information to process at once. We don’t choose to have meltdowns, they are very much involuntary.
Let us stim! It’s healthy because it helps us express and regulate our emotions/communicate!
I am not some alien creature or horror story. I don’t have a less meaningful or less fulfilling life just because I’m autistic, and I don’t want anyone’s pity or charity. I’m still an adult and I don’t wish to be infantilised or treated like a child incapable of making decisions or choices. I am not sick: autism is not a disease or illness. I don’t want a “cure” even if it would end up making life easier because then I wouldn’t be me anymore - the idea of a cure for autism is ableist and is more so that we don’t cause any “trouble” for allistic people and make them uncomfortable just because our minds work differently or we understand things in a different way. At the end of the day, autism is not something I can take off at the end of the day - while it’s not my entire identity, it’s still part of it and removing it removes a part of who I am.
#autism#autistic#autism acceptance month#actually autistic#personal#I’m taking care of me and blocking anyone I see supporting autism speaks#it’s fine if you’re genuinely asking and wanting to learn why they’re bad but if you’re straight up supporting them then it’s a block 🤷🏻#april#autism acceptance#these are just off the top of my head feel free to add more

The “heirs” of the apocalypse standing next to each other here for reference lol I decided to give Shuichi different clothing since he wasn’t actually a hope’s peak student in this au! (He probably would have been scouted though given his family’s history and his uncle’s status as a world famous detective is the hint as to what his deal is ;> ) Kokichi also had never gone to hope’s peak academy (he went to hope’s peak elementary though! And that’s important for his backstory which I’ll expand upon in another post lol.) Kaede on the other hand did technically go to hope’s peak academy as a student but she wasn’t main course :> (that’s also very important for the plot uwu) Kaede is 18, shuichi is 16 and Kokichi is 15 ( Kaede actually lied about her age when attending so she could go sooner lol)
Kaede’s temperament is pretty similar to her in game self (confident and amicable , good at pep talking and is pretty blunt and honest lol) but less high energy about it and more snippy ( in the AU! Before the tragedy she used to be downright violent and mean at times but she mellowed out for the same reason Kokichi hates violence and now she’s constantly stressed as the oldest and most experienced and also as a result of the experiments preformed on her, so it takes a lot of the bite out of her temper ) but because of that she’s also less close minded and is fully Able and willing to show off just how smart she is (doesn’t have to hold back how ‘weird’ she is to make new friends or connections when it’s the apocalypse) . She is still scarily good with patterns and machinations, and I’ve always liked the buff Kaede head canon so she’s the muscle too ( which again makes sense with her family’s history;> )
She’s also the only member (besides Shuichi , kind of ) who’s not vehemently against murdering in terms of self defense, so she takes care of any brainwashed people that come for their throats in the “name of despair “. She is the self appointed comfort of the group, since she’s the oldest and takes the responsibility seriously and is therefore very protective of them both.
Kokichi on the other hand! He’s is a STARK pacifist. He hates violence (he thinks it’s “boring” ) the same way Junko loves despair (and actually because Junko loves despair in a way :) ) He is however completely okay and very good at taking out monokumas (because they were junko’s and those two knew each other lol) and other hostile robots. (It’s why he has a sledgehammer lol) due to the experiments run on HIM he is able to essentially pick apart any weaknesses in the robots from the outside ( and also because he was around for the blueprints of them ) . Like kaede he’s analytical but his bonus is that he can do so on the fly ( reflexive strategizing, basically) he also doesn’t act “happy go lucky” all the time since I had always viewed that in canon as a front used to mask distress due to being trapped in an enclosed high stress environment.
Essentially he has to fill a different “role” in the AU and he knows that. So I ran with the more childish personality he has in the Japanese dub, I felt like that would work better than the bully persona lol. He still likes to mess with people but it’s more so a need than a want ( boredom is pretty much painful for him in the same way it is for Izuru) and he’s also more honest to an extent because he doesn’t have to lie as much and he tries to curb it all as best he can with puzzles or riddles or fidget stims or really anything he can use that isn’t violent. I really wanted to expand upon his character in a sympathetic route, but still encapsulate a lot of his canon personality (so I kept the pacifism, the love of puzzles and games, the way he moves around kinda hyperactively, and hatred of authority and despair, as well as his soft spot for the kinds of people who would join his organization, which he still has but it actually got an upgrade: D but this post is already too long lol. I also kept his impulsivity as with the need for entertainment and his trust issues play a massive role in the main story actually, and even his tendency to hide away and run from danger rather than face it head on ( his canon lack of bravery is a pretty big flaw that not a lot of people seem to touch upon in the fandom which is weird because it’s one of the main reasons he does the bad things that he does in canon and fear is a powerful emotion so I felt it was perfect.)
Shuichi has a knife taped to a ruler ,which looks pretty silly but he doesn’t use it and only threw it together to satisfy Kaede pestering him about not having any kind of weapon lol (and he also has fire through a lighter and will set sticks on fire and stuff but in closed spaces that’s not the most efficient ) but he also has a GUN and a bullet proof vest underneath his clothes ( Kaede is holding onto the gun for him since she’s the coolest with murder and he’s got the med kit ( it’s on his back so you can’t see it in this pic sorry qwq ) other than the gun, I always imagined pre game Shuichi was kinda strong too ( hence why in game he somehow kinda has mucles and stuff even before the training sessions and those only last like two weeks or so lol ) so I ran with it here since it helps to know self defense in the apocalypse lol. He’s also a little bit more optimistic than in canon as I mentioned in my previous post about this au version . He’s kinda just like a Jack of all trades, and he can handle the robots too but he is way more apprehensive about it considering he’s not as fast as Kokichi so it could end poorly but in emergencies he’s capable of it! One other thing he can do is disarm traps and defuse bombs (detective background lol) him and Kokichi both know how to pick locks but Shuichi is actually better at it because Kokichi will get bored due to how tedious the action is so he won’t be able to do it out of loss of interest if the lock is too complex) and kaede is easily the worst at it because she just wants to kick the door down or blow it up lol.
Shuichi is also the negotiator since he has technical ins with the future foundation and is the most used to people and the best at talking with them. (Kaede’s not awful at it but she has her own brand of trust issues and Kokichi will straight up just creepily stare at them until he hopefully scares them off lol.)
Sorry for the long text post and thank you for reading ^^

Yeah all that stuff is totally correct obviously Saiki's friends genuinely love him and that changes Saiki's life for the better, and the series ends on a positive note.
However, that's not at all my point here.
Let's make this an analogy, conveniently one that many of people pointed out before: let's pretend that instead of hiding his psychic powers, Saiki is trying to hide his autism.
Now, what I'm saying is that Saiki's friends have only ever seen him successfully masking as a neurotypical.
There may have been tiny slip-ups in canon, but even when Akechi directly accused Saiki of being psychic, Kuboyasu and Kaido couldn't believe it. So in this analogy, Saiki's friends also fully believe he is neurotypical and do not feel anything is "different" about him.
Sure, Saiki's friends love him now, but they have never seen him be his authentic self. How will they react to finding out about Saiki's diagnosis, to seeing Saiki stim, to Saiki suddenly resisting their changes in plans, to Saiki infodumping excessively, to watching him have a meltdown?
Of course his friends would still love him! Their love runs deep!
BUT HOW CAN SAIKI BE SURE ??
Plenty of neurotypicals stop liking their friends when they start exhibiting too many symptoms or behaviors.
And it just can't feel great to know that your friends only know and like the fake neurotypical version of you that takes a ton of energy and effort to maintain.
What I'm saying is that his friends only know Saiki's MASK. They can notice any deviations from Saiki's PERFORMANCE. They're fond of his NORMALSONA.
They're okay with Saiki not participating and being boring in a corner, but Saiki actually LIKES to participate, he LIKES to talk and sass back, he's actually VERY funny – completely different from what his friends see.
In the mixer, Teruhashi literally thought to herself that Saiki would be sitting in a corner bringing the mood down when he was actually scoring 100% in karaoke and telling jokes through his mouthpieces. Would she have enjoyed Saiki's presence as much if he was kicking her ass at karaoke? We already saw her not enjoying getting her ass kicked at the arcade date, so it's a reasonable doubt.
THAT'S what I'm saying is a tragedy. Saiki never gets to be real around his friends, Saiki's friends never get to see and love Saiki's real self, and while he knows they'll accept his powers, Saiki is scared to death that they won't enjoy his real personality as much as the front he'd been forced to put up for 6 years.
And EVEN IF they're all delighted by Saiki's real personality...
By the time they finally get used to and love his real self, they'll all be graduating and split up forever shortly afterwards, because they'll be in their senior year of high school and they all have different plans.
How Saiki wants to be perceived:
Not at all. He's just generic mob character #7536, thanks.
How Saiki's friends perceive him at first:
Projection Central... Depending on the person, he's a scaredy-cat, romance novel protagonist, former punk, flustered fanboy, a slacker who just needs some inspiration to become a sports star, etc...
How Saiki's friends perceive him at the end of the series:
Quiet, a little glum, kinda boring, but a good guy. Says "good grief" a lot.
How the Psychickers perceive him:
Sarcastic, stubborn, tsundere, a little childish, back-talker supreme, confident, a bit arrogant even, incredibly intelligent, lonely, silly, uptight, a soft touch, kind.
How Saiki ACTUALLY IS:
Sarcastic, stubborn, tsundere, a little childish, back-talker supreme, confident, a bit arrogant even, incredibly intelligent, lonely, silly, uptight, a soft touch, kind.
-> Only the Psychickers (and to some extent, his family) know and appreciate Saiki for who he actually is by the end of the series.
That's because Saiki is only ever comfortable revealing his true personality once the other person knows about his powers.
Until then, he will always try pretending to be a passive nobody, unless he thinks it can get a girl off his back (ex. against Teruhashi at the arcade, against Imu in the locker room).
Saiki remains nervous about telling his friends about his powers despite seeing it go off without a hitch in the alternate universe, and despite losing his powers first, because his friends might not like his "new"/actual personality.
We see early on in Kuboyasu's introduction that Saiki fears his relationships with his friends are fake because they're based on a huge lie and an even bigger pretense. We see that anxiety about his personality/persona not being palatable enough at the wrong-day birthday party. We see him mourn the fact that he can't be his real self at the mixer.
THAT is the great tragedy of Saiki K, that almost none of the people he loves actually know him in any meaningful way, not even by the end of the series!
#I'm sorry you feel you can't open up to anyone op#that IS tragic and you SHOULDN'T accept it.#research shows anyways that masking is practically never effective at making friends with neurotypicals anyways#because they'll instinctively sense that you're hiding something literally within seconds of meeting you even if they don't actively notice#outside of situations where you MUST mask like at work or when dealing with authority figures#it's actually recommended that you be yourself and just casually mention that you're autistic#so the other person understands why you might be ''off'' and doesn't perceive it as a deception#yeah some people still won't like you but the chances of making friends goes way way up when you're authentic about it#and they'll actually like YOU instead of the mask#so please consider it! I can dig up the post about the research I saw if you want. just ping me!

:: HEADCANON // autism spectrum disorder.
Dimitri has always been a bit “FUSSY“ about certain things like texture and sound. He’s never really UNDERSTOOD most other children his age, either-- always far too EARNEST and LITERAL to pick up on things like pranks or jokes. As a kid, partly because he is the crown prince of Faerghus and partly because he doesn’t understand social clues for the life of him, he has trouble making friends with others. He doesn’t GET why some people are so afraid to talk to him, and other times he is too IN YOUR FACE and TALKATIVE when it comes to things that he is very interested in, so it unnerves people.
Dimitri, while undiagnosed because of the setting of Fodlan, is autistic. He has always been an EXTREMELY picky eater, refusing to eat anything that hasn’t been separated properly, and if it’s too mushy, he gags. This only gets WORSE after the Tragedy, when he loses his sense of taste. If he touches something that he categorizes as “BAD TEXTURE,” it can be incredibly DISTRESSING, and he will stim in order to try to make the feeling go away. All of his clothing is made of very soft material, because certain fabrics make his skin PRICKLE no matter how long he has it on. He HATES wearing jewelry, though as he grows up, he gets used to wearing it. While he doesn’t exactly have a problem with loud music ( he actually likes it, as long as it’s the right genre ), certain sounds and pitches make him want to rip his eardrums out. If he gets FRUSTRATED enough about being unable to communicate what he needs, he can become visibly upset ( + stims ). If his core routines are broken ( e.g. taking a walk around the monastery at sunset, eating lunch at exactly noon, taking a specific path from his dorm to the classroom ), he can become very ANXIOUS.
He has autism meltdowns when he experiences SENSORY OVERLOAD, which can be caused by the things listed in the above paragraph. During a meltdown, he will sometimes curl up into a ball and rock back and forth. He usually ends up alternating between incessant stimming and holding his hands tightly over his ears. Often, when this happens, he tends to yell if ANYONE around him is adding stimuli to his already overloading senses. Other times, he goes NONVERBAL. He does not need to be melting down to go nonverbal, though-- if he has not had enough time to recharge his SOCIAL BATTERY between long periods of socialization, or after interacting with people he finds to be DIFFICULT to understand or read. He can also go nonverbal if overwhelmed by emotion, or when he’s being criticized.
As he grows older, he learns how to MASK his symptoms, which basically just means that he learns how to COPY allistic people in order to FIT IN. The adults in his life also condition him into SUPPRESSING his intense emotional outbursts for as long as he can instead of allowing him to EXPRESS them in a manner that will make it easier to deal with in the future. When his parents die, Dimitri isolates himself for a long period of time, becoming almost completely nonverbal for weeks save for when he talks to Dedue. He also suppresses all of the anger caused by this, not wanting to MAKE A SCENE and be scolded.
Because he HAS TO learn how to interact with many people at a time without trying to escape, Dimitri learns to let out his intense emotions only when he’s training or fighting. It becomes a terrible coping mechanism, as when outside of fighting, he does not really KNOW how to express these things in a MEANINGFUL manner. This makes him a bit more volatile, and though he has become extremely good at shoving everything down, he still, of course, has meltdowns. If he feels one coming on, he tries to ISOLATE himself from other people in order to avoid EMBARRASSING the royal family.
#[ thank u for coming to my tedtalk ]#— headcanons // there’s a god awful shitty feeling of dread in my heart.#[ if anything in here strikes anyone who experiences asd themselves as wrong or uninformed up to current research; drop me a dm and i will#[ be happy to fix it right up! ]#[ dimitri has asd rights thank you very much ]#[ he also ! has High Empathy but struggles to express it sometimes ]#[ im prolly gonna make another post ab this or add to this one eventually but we shall see ]#[ i haven't covered Everything and how it effects him but brain only works in small spurts ]

Yes it's important to not portray people with mental illnesses/disabilities as tragedies only capable of suffering but the opposite is also true, you cannot dumb down a neurological disorder into silly and quirky things that make you fun and cute. No autistic people aren't "broken" but you have to acknowledge the ugly symptoms too bc autism exists beyond the extremely infantilized perception of it and it's not all gonna be cute flappy hands and talking about dinosaurs. And it's extremely upsetting to watch people steamroll over the actual diversity in autism in order to purely define it using woobified stereotypes and then trying to emulate them. And I'm sorry but I'm still not over the "you feel better when you act autistic" because what the hell does that even mean?? Like if this were a conversation about masking, that would make sense but it isn't. When people like this talk about "acting autistic" it's so obvious that what they actually mean is mimicking a surface level caricature of a neurological condition, which is why I keep bringing up neurotypical actors being made to play severely disabled people. Watching "transabled" people try to mimic the most hollow depiction of your disorder, especially as someone with "ugly" symptoms that these people will never understand is just so so infuriating like yeah I hope you have fun pretending to stim I'll be over here trying and failing to not bite myself or tear the skin off of my lips. I haven't had a full meal in days because I can't tolerate 90% of the food we have in the house but I'm glad you're having fun exploiting the marginalized and wearing their pain for quirky internet points lmao.

Okay let’s go!! I’ve been calling this the Newverse but idk if it needs a better name or not cos that’s kinda lazy. Also like I said I made this in a day so I haven’t fleshed out the personalities or designs out very much yet (oh how I wish I could draw) but this is what I have so far!!
Donnie: Donnie is a spotted pond turtle. He’s the oldest in my version, although not technically the leader. Tbh they all really take turns being leader, they haven’t decided who it is yet. They know it’s NOT Mikey though. (When Mikey led a mission for the first time, it…didn’t go well. They ended up in New Jersey, somehow) Newverse Donnie was born deaf, and made up his own three fingered version of ASL that he taught to his brothers. Well, Leo. Mikey and Raph know a few signs but they can’t form a lot of actual sentences. Leo is his translator oftentimes when talking with ppl outside of the family. He also has speakers in the walls throughout the lair, so if he’s in the lab and blows something up or needs someone to experiment on, he can just send a text to speech message through it. For example, the time Mikey Raph and Leo were hanging out in the living room and they just hear “ATTENTION. THE LAB IS ON FIRE. SEND HELP.” I’m also thinking of giving him a small dog.
Spotted pond turtle picture:
His mask color:
Leo: River Cooter. Second oldest. He makes jokes and tries to make his brothers laugh a lot like rise Leo, but the difference is he’s actually funny. Also he’s incredibly insecure, and thinks that he really doesn’t contribute to the team if he’s not funny. His first time leading the time was bad, but he makes himself feel better thinking “it wasn’t as bad as Mikey’s” he’s a big book reader and reads a lot of comedy to hone his “Funny Skills” but secretly he really enjoys tragedy. (You know he read the SHIT out of the song of Achilles and rereads it regularly)
Turtle (yes I chose the goofiest picture possible on purpose):
Mask color:
Raph: Albino wood turtle. (Strawberry shortcake lookin ass) On the surface he may seem like the anger issues turtle we all know, but really (like 2012 Raph, in my hc) he has ADHD and ASD, and yk. Classic anger issues. The others do too but he’s the only one to get uncontrollably angry when he’s overwhelmed, and he’s learned to deal with it over the years with noise cancelling headphones and stim toys etc. Even so he bites a lot. Like, main defense against villains. They have to get new chewlery for him every week because he just bites through it. (Not a turtle species thing I don’t think, just a him thing.)
Turtle:
Mask color:
Mikey: Gulf Coast box turtle. He’s the youngest, only 13, and he’s trying to explore the things he likes. Right now, the things he likes include the punk and kid core aesthetics mixed together and rock music like Poseur and Raging on a Sunday. He is also so so goofy and clumsy and uncoordinated like my man has no idea what he’s doing at all times but by god he’s doing it and he’s doing it right now. High energy as fuck and often gets himself hurt doing stupid shit like jumping off buildings in order to pursue people. He’s a goof but he doesn’t really let it get to his head and every time he fucks up he’s just like “hahha damn oops 🤷♂️ oh well try again next time.” He’s also an empath and communicates with animals strangely well (like 2012 Raph) him and Casey are BFFs.
Turtle:
Mask color:
April, Casey, and Splinter will likely be in another post if this one does well. :)
Would any of my hellsite followers like to see my tmnt version that I made in like. A day?
#tmnt#rottmnt#tmnt 2012#typed all of this out on my phone and damn I am tired it’s like 11 pm#I might write something for them in the future#tmnt newverse

Very great analysis on how bleak the cycle can be. What’s your take on how the cycle works regarding other villains, like Vaati, or Majora?
So I know you asked about the cycle in-universe, led here I would guess from this post, but there’s a noteworthy followup I made in that vein here, and that’s important context to how I feel about a lot of the Zelda rogues’ gallery.
Because the thing is, if you go looking for qualities to hate, you’ll always find them.
Ghirahim invades Link’s space in a way that feels- to me- very gay panic. He talks in luscious detail about wanting to do violence onto Link’s person. He threatens to run through his subordinates.
Zant creeps on Midna at a major part. And, Zant’s very easy for me to relate to and want to defend, because the big other thing used to make Zant seem “scary and off-putting” is his literal autistic meltdowns. They may not be called that by name, but Zant thrashing, bending weirdly, the noises he makes and slamming his head on the floor when frustrated and overwhelmed, as an autistic person, I recognize intimately. I can’t even say it’s that much of a caricature of stimming and meltdowns.
Vaati kidnaps “beautiful maidens”. We’re given plenty of reasons to hate them.
My beef is, a lot of these issues feel petty- not in their in-universe damage done, but petty in a writing sense.
Hearing that Ghirahim controls the bokoblins through threat of force is basically meaningless. We can’t really be all up in arms that Ghirahim is threatening to stab bokoblins because in that cutscene alone we tear them apart en masse ourselves. We can have the excuse that they’re our Enemies, but they’re Ghirahim’s subordinates, but really, how much of an excuse is that? Yes, there’s a difference between stabbing enemies and stabbing allies, but The Legend of Zelda is not a work that has any kind of moral high ground to point fingers about dehumanizing people. We’re not even dignified a response from the Bokoblins. You could omit Ghirahim’s threat entirely and nothing about that scene’s weight or context would change.
Zant getting uncomfortably up in Midna’s space is just supposed to be a cruelty that make us feel more justified when Zant dies in a comparatively graphic and painful-looking manner. They are not used as meaningful characterizing moments. It doesn’t illustrate that Zant wields cultural power over Midna, because in their dynamic, both make clear that Midna was the favored one- she was chosen to rule- while criticizing Zelda, she alludes to having a life of luxury herself (since she’s projecting her own issues onto Zelda in that scene) while Zant at least perceives himself as having lived a tortured life and Midna doesn’t contradict him or call him a liar, merely insists that he was power hungry and that’s why “everyone” felt justified turning away from him.
It doesn’t indicate Zant really wants Midna because it seems to just exist as an opportunity to set up Zant attacking her for siding with the light world. It doesn’t even really indicate Midna’s character growth because she doesn’t seem to seriously consider Zant’s words and she never suggests in the past she might’ve gone along with him.
The thing about The Cycle and it’s cruelty is that it’s something that exists halfway in and halfway out of the fourth wall. Hyrule can’t stay at peace. It can’t be stable and happy. It has to be imperiled because they want to keep making games.
The villains in the Zelda series are created to fill a role. They’re boss fights. In that sense, they’re trophy bucks to be hunted down for our entertainment. You could arguably say the same thing about any video game boss, but, I would argue, a well-written game gives you reasons to find opposing this character meaningful.
The Zelda series does not do this.
The Zelda series mostly gives you some cheap heat excuses and a lot of vague words about how someone is Evil or Diabolical. Next time you fire up a Zelda game, just, stop and pay attention to the cutscenes and look at just how much of a given character’s crimes are: 1. vague, 2. only ever stated by other characters who already hate that character, 3. make no sense as a strategic move unless you intuit or assume a lot of information the game never tells you.
It’s really easy to assume in the average game that Ganondorf- or Vaati, or Skull Kid, or Zant, or Ghirahim- is running wild killing people and burning the countryside. But if you actually look at it, there doesn’t seem to be a clear thesis to who’s hurt and who isn’t.
Why do the Zora get frozen? Why is Valoo’s tail attacked? Why does Zant attack Hyrule’s light spirits but doesn’t seem to spread the twilight to Snowpeak or the Gerudo Desert when they’re seemingly unprotected?
So the end result is you get split one of two ways. You either trust the Experience of the game- that tells you the entire countryside is suffering because of Vaati- and thus, you come up with explanations and cruel attitudes Vaati has that clearly explain all of his behavior- or you don’t, and then you sit there going “man Ezlo I know you’re salty over being turned into a hat and all, but isn’t it a little fucked up that you’re this willing to talk about your underage orphan apprentice like maybe it was an inevitability he’d go mad with power and there’s nothing to do but forge a sword and kill him?”
The game wants you to assume there’s no way to talk down or negotiate with any of these people. It tells you that there will be Dire Consequences if this person’s actions are not stopped.
But Vaati’s a child who wants power and doesn’t even seem to have a clear thesis of what he’s doing with it besides that he just vaguely wants to be ‘in charge’.
But Ghirahim seems to have never thought of himself as anything but an instrument and his parting comments to Link suggest that he is only, just, starting to actually feel any real standout emotion towards him beyond annoyance, and that emotion is not rage or revulsion but curiosity. He only really acts out of loyalty to an entity that on-screen, hurts him and literally dehumanizes him- turns him into an immobile object. Something we’re told is a tragedy when it happens to Fi.
But Zant talks at great length about how miserable he was, and Midna insinuates “everyone” hated him and thought he was shifty and untrustworthy, and in his own memories, he was sobbing alone and immediately latched onto and literally worshiped Ganondorf, for... telling him he was important and offering to give him power.
Much is made of Skull Kid’s loneliness and ultimately they’re just a kid, go easy on them, they were tempted by Majora- but we have no idea what Majora itself is, besides that they’re a mask, and in the entirety of Majora’s Mask, many discussions are made about how masks are the product of spirits filled with regret, and one must work with them to bring them peace- and Majora itself speaks in a childish manner.
Chancellor Cole, you can argue, even looks more like a “real evil” in that he’s a scheming bureaucrat who uses his position as a respected adult to talk over and endanger Zelda and Link, and even he’s thrown away by Malladus when the latter needs a free body.
The most in-universe explanation, going by just what Nintendo’s official lore tells us, is that Demise’s hatred seeks a suitable vessel, and Ganondorf is just its ‘favorite’, and it’ll happily latch onto anybody else in a position to screw over the heroes. But that raises a lot of questions and leaves a lot of things unaddressed.
So it comes down to a question of, what do we decide here that we trust? How many of these guys would stay enemies if we had any capacity to talk to them and understand their problems? So many of these guys feel like they’re trapped or hurting or miserable or just had a completely unspecified “hunger for power” because that sounds threatening, but the people who desperately want to feel strong are usually people who, for some reason or another, feel denied, repressed, or looked down on.
Basically, the characterization is vague, and mostly, we’re assured they’re evil by other people in the game. To me, this comes across untrustworthy, especially when, in effect, a lot of these characters talk or act like they were (or are shown to be) wronged somehow, and when the game seems to act as if your only options are “let them do whatever they want” and “kill them where they stand” with a clear insinuation that the murder is the right and proper choice.
Which is kinda the whole problem. The average Zelda game spends however much time it dedicates to the main villain, trying to tell you to kill them. This is at odds with Link as someone who engages with and helps a lot of people. And often “however much time it dedicates to the main villain” is not that much time at all! You’re often just, like. having a fun little happy adventure with a scattered handful of interjections of “so everything is the fault of this one guy, and, uh, you should stab them.”
