friend wanted to see my tumblr, and when i told him i can’t show it to him bc it’s basically my personal diary he went “oh so I can’t see it but a bunch of strangers on tumblr can??” he literally does not get me. no one will get me like the people in my phone get me
#It’s just so different#even though it’s public it still feels secret and safe. i feel comfy sharing a lot more on here than I do in my actual day to day life lol#in my head I’m also just speaking to myself 90% of the time which helps#if a friend off tumblr saw my thoughts I’d feel so weird ab it#esp bc they might get the vagueposting about certain situations and tell mutual friends#no thank u. this is for me. I’m not about to start censoring my thoughts bc someone I know knows my tumblr#u guys literally saw me have LIVE BREAKDOWNS#meanwhile I’ll have the worst fucking day in history and tell no one about it. I’m already cripplingly private but way more so in real life#this is basically a low stress journaling outlet for me. it’s so important for me to maintain the separation#like this is actually my diary & has been so handy for letting out emotions / articulating thoughts / staying on track !!#& I’ve met so many kind people on here who actually get me. which is so hard to find irl bc I’m surrounded by pre-med gunners/overachievers#who are by standard not very good w emotion & can be competitive/judgmental. or at least it’s hard for me to be vulnerable in front of them#and I’m part of that crowd so I reserve my emotions only to a handful of very close friends#it’s nice to hop on here and express negative emotions!! or positive emotions!! just whatever I want and it’s low stress and people get me#I don’t have to worry about judgment or competitiveness etc etc#like everyone on here is so kind & nice & understanding. & just a breath of fresh air from the types I run w. it’s just nice to have this#so idk that’s why I think I’ll always be strict about keeping the worlds separate. it just works#p

Hit a point where I'm going through the Cullen Critical tag on tumblr cause I really like Cullen, but in a fucked up way and I hate that the writers overlooked some of the more egregious things this guy did (or, more accurately did *not* do) while serving in Kirkwall
Mostly i think im mad that the writers fucked up the chance to take a guy who spent a long time turning a blind eye to and justifying a fucked up system of abuse, and actually have him held accountable for it
Instead of him just. Feeling kind of bad about it but not actually addressing it in a real way?
I mean, dont get me started on how Inquisition fumbled pretty much everything that happened in DA2 (the fact that there's no option for Hawke, Varric, or even the Inquisitor to agree with what Anders did? You can either condemn it or like... waffle around it?), but like. Cullen was actively looking the other way when Mages were getting whipped in the streets, SA'd and fucking lobotomised
The templars turned Kirkwall into a police state by the end of it, and all the writers have him saying is like "man, i feel bad :("
Cant believe im saying this, but Blackwall actually does have a better redemption arc than Cullen
I just
There is gold. Right there
They had a fucked up guy and completely squandered the opportunity to have him SO fucked up about the shit he's done
They still could've had their poor little meow meow of a commander! Just make him so much more fucked up about his mistakes man!
But we already know bioware is full of cowards so im pretty much talking to the wind here
#i just.#i fucking NEED this guy to have a fucking crisis of conscience full-scale breakdown about this#give him a proper penny-drop moment where he clutches his chest#starts muttering to the maker when he realises the full weight of his actions#have the guilt overwhelm him and stop him in his tracks!#have that shit replace the whole lyrium choice!#where he considers falling off the wagon because turning to the lyrium is the only way he think to cope#the Inquisitor is then having to contend with a commander that is wracked with guilt and unable to make decisions#because he cant fucking trust himself to know what is right#and he keeps saying that maybe he should go back to the lyrium because at least he was sure of himself when he was on it#make him difficult! to deal with!#make the Inquisitor have to force him to step down to get his shit together!#maybe even make the Inquisitor have to choose between giving him time or replacing him!#ugh#there are so many tasty opportunities here and all squandered#anyways this fucking mess of a man has been on my mind for a while now#and Anders#but thats a whole other thing#bioware has some fascinating characters in their hands and they dont even know what to do with them#dragon age#cullen rutherford#chantry critical#yelling into the void idk

Tracks, knockout, and sunstreaker have weekly get togethers where they all work on there paint and polish and gossip. Sunstreaker complains about how messy sideswipe is. Tracks laments how bad high command is about there finish. Knockout rants about the whole seeker armada and how prissy they are about everything. The three are allowed to bring one guest each but the only one who really does is knockout who brings breakdown. Poor breakdown is so flustered and shy around all the pretty bots. The three all think he’s adorable and ruthlessly flirt with the big bot.

(KO & G1 Tracks)
I hope they will be good friends as fellow beauty seekers, but BD that misunderstands Tracks may cause a little trouble.😂😂
(Sorry if my English is strange as usual.)
PS:
This is the first time I have heard of Tracks being a child!😳
In the Japanese version, I have the impression that he is a "narcissistic young man".Is he that young in the original version?
Also, Tracks is one of my favorite characters in G1 and I'm not trying to hate on him at all.
The impression I get of TFP's Breakdown is also quite different between the original language and the Japanese. I enjoy those differences as well!
↑
Probably solved!
Thanks to those who told me!🙏🙏🙏

Where were you when you realized that the archways were crumbling

Post-Weirdmageddon Stan & Ford
Trying to sort out their characters to get a better grasp of what I'm doing for some writing projects and, yes, I'm subjecting you all to it.
Ford makes a big, showy deal about burning his Bill paraphernalia, to the point he comes across as a bit manic the day of the bonfire, engaging in loud, rapid-fire conversation with Mabel and Dipper. Stan has a sneaking suspicion his brother may have palmed one or two items before he and the kids carted the frankly disturbing number of triangle artifacts up from the basement. Later on, Ford makes a production out of both throwing his journals in the Bottomless Pit and shooting Bill’s psycho diary into an interdimensional rift. His brother is every bit as dramatic as Stan is, which is why Stan can’t help but think Ford is using these events to “prove” he’s past the thirty-year obsession he had with a malevolent piece of geometry homework. This instinct is only strengthened by the times Stan caught Ford creeping out from his lab the nights following these events, trailed by the odor of cheap gin. (Stan very much tries not to think about the fact their father drank gin, too).
Stan and Ford approach genuine emotional conversation like two skittish alley cats. Half the time Ford’s emotional response is caught up in cerebral traffic and what he does feel he can’t put a proper label on until days, sometimes weeks (sometimes years) later. Stan has difficulty shedding the Mr. Mystery mask, thirty years of shoving every hurt feeling behind the flick of a cane and a colorful tall tale now so instinctual Stan sometimes feels he can’t separate the two, like he’s lost track of the narrative of his own life. They’ve been able to power through one excruciating session (with the help of an ample amount of bourbon) in regards to the night Stan was kicked out, their watery apologies heartfelt, if a bit slurred. But Stan’s afraid to push his brother too far, still feeling as if he has the Sword of Damocles swaying above him, and that at any point Ford’s going to snap out of his self-imposed sentence of contrition and bring down the blade on Stan’s neck himself.
Because of this, Stan gives himself little landmarks, little goals and dates to hang on to, to convince himself this is all real and that the rug won’t be pulled out from under him. Two weeks without the kids and Ford not kicking him out of the Shack. One month before they’re supposed to leave for the Arctic with them surviving their first real argument. He figures if they can get through three months at sea without Ford kicking him off the boat and leaving for good, there’s a chance Ford’s change of heart might be permanent. He has the date circled in a calendar they have hanging in their shared quarters. Ford’s asked about the importance of it, if there was a birthday or anniversary he was ignorant of, or if perhaps it was one of those new superfluous holidays Mabel has told him about, like National Waffle Day. Stan pretends he can’t remember why he circled the date at all, which, of course, prompts all kinds of intensive questioning from his brother regarding his mental acuity and the memory gun. Stan laughs it off - probably something to do with the taxes I’ve never paid, he says with a long, Cheshire grin.
Ford refuses to talk about Bill. He doesn’t even attempt plausible deniability when he grabs the steering wheel of the conversation and makes a squealing U-turn worthy of a bank heist escape if they stray too near Bill’s name. The times Stan has tried to initiate conversation, has waded near that radioactive topic, his brother has either outright ignored him or given Stan a look so cold it would probably register as a climate anomaly. It’s easier…and safer for both of them to avoid it. (This won't end well).
This isn’t to say they’re having a bad time prepping for their journey or on the boat. Overall, it’s the most relaxed Stan has felt in years (and best of all, the likelihood of the IRS having a maritime patrol is vanishingly small. Stan can’t help but think - with no small amount of smug satisfaction - that if Capone had taken to the sea, he might not have ended up in the federal clink). And despite the fact his brother can be a pretentious, argumentative, know-it-all pain in the ass, they’re getting along. Having fun. Even if Ford is an absolute cheater when it comes to card games.
#hello there#stanley pines#stanford pines#i am 100% convinced ford makes a spectacle of getting rid of his stuff as it would 'check the box' that he's over bill and recovered and#ready to leave behind that part of his life#which he is...maybe...but the man needs have a cathartic breakdown or two me thinks#anyway headcanons and such#also i've mentioned this before#but my theory as to why stan is terrified of the irs is because that's how they got capone and stan knows this#and probably stan's covered his tracks well enough but that threat looms over his thirty years in the mystery shack

guy very into musical theatre who mistakingly thinks they're connecting with me over a shared interest: yeah, weber is foundational and all, but i've always felt more of a connection with what starkid's got going on, y'know?
me, who's only ever listened to tracks from the musical episode of Psych: uhhhhhhhhh... hello my name is shawn spencer? this is my partner, lil' wayne? the evidence is underwhelming? but my intuition is insane?
#to be clear i am in fact a muscian and have a greater-than-basic understanding of the genre and the artform#in fact half the reason i'm so obsessed with the psych musical is bc of all the ways it utilizes the actual genre tropes of musicals#to make itself an effective and genuine article of the medium#but outside of the theory uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sorry i know nothing i am but a wee babe#honestly the orchestration of the tracks is what i keep finding myself impressed by#it's so varied and diverse both in harmonic structure/progression and actual instrumentation#one thing i especially love is how the piece where shawn spells out the crime combines a ton of motifs from earlier tracks#into one unified piece of music#which directly mirrors how these breakdowns narratively combine all the facts the audience has been shown throughout the episode#psych#psych the musical#running my mouth

okay so this is very niche and no one's gonna get it but this is my blog so whatever
if noel gets sent to spain and we know nothing of when he was sent to, i think it's safe to assume he's still in 1934-1935. and you know what was happening in spain from 1931 to 1936? when the civil war started and all academics had to flee?
linguists were gathering information for a phonetic atlas (ALPI). so essentially they went around asking a bunch of people how they say these specific 45 words, and they asked everywhere. so in the end you get a map of how the people from the north say 'water' differently from the people on the south. and the funny thing is that in the iberian peninsula there's quite the handful of languages so you can see a lot of change as a continuum (there's not a clear border between languages)
but on top of all that overall change, noel is in there somewhere. and i just think it's so funny that if they asked him, the list from the region he appeared in would look something like this:
abeja [ɜˈβɛʎɜ]
abeja [ˈbeʎɜ]
abeja [aˈβeʎɐ]
abeja [bi:]
abeja [əˈβɜʎɜ]
#alright i know realistically he would have been left out of the atlas#bc clearly he doesn't have any of the 'native' (ya'll don't have the word we use) varieties as a first language#and that the chances of him being asked in the first place would be slim#BUT#indulge me (more like me indulging myself)#but come on if this isn't funny i don't know what is#BUT ALSO#bc this is an old as fuck atlas and they used another alphabet to transcribe that wasn't IPA#(and bc changing stuff from the one they used to IPA is horrible bc they work differently and. diacritics)#bc of the differnet alphabets the people who recently went over the atlas to transcribe it on IPA must have had a breakdown#bc is this some fuckery of the original alphabet being weird or did the people writing stuff down really hear [bi:] like that#it has so much potential for comedy. i'm playing laugh tracks in the background rn#and yes i did spend ten minutes writing the ipa on this post don't look at me#and also yes naturally i did make him appear on the region i live in#malevolent#rambling#noel finley#phonetics#alpi#atlas lingüístico de la península ibérica

On Gale and patriarchy/toxic masculinity
I really want to do a reading and analysis of Gale's character as upholding patriarchal values and expectations of toxic masculinity because this stuck out to me as I listened to the CF audiobook before bed last night. From chapter 1 of CF:
I think of Gale, who is only really alive in the woods, with its fresh air and sunlight and clean, flowing water. I don't know how he stands it. Well ... yes, I do. He stands it because it's the way to feed his mother and two younger brothers and sister. And here I am with buckets of money, far more than enough to feed both our families now, and he won't take a single coin. It's even hard for him to let me bring in meat, although he'd surely have kept my mother and Prim supplied if I'd been killed in the Games. I tell him he's doing me a favor, that it drives me nuts to sit around all day. Even so, I never drop off the game while he's at home. Which is easy since he works twelve hours a day.
Highlighted the part that really made my ears perk up. There's something to be said about Gale's stubbornness and his pride, which is very similar to Katniss's but he always takes it another step. Whereas Katniss learns to accept others' help, to forge these connections, Gale doesn't. It's giving "I'm the man and this is my job." For someone who wants nothing more than to help keep his family alive, it's weird that he refuses any help.
At first I thought maybe he doesn't want her money because it's from the Capitol and he despises it that much but she says it's hard for him to even have her bring meat in from hunting. Which points to his pride. He wants to be the provider. The one taking care of her. And it leaves Katniss in a kinda tricky place. It's like she's walking on eggshells around him here - purposely not dropping off game at his house when he's there.
Compare that with Peeta (which as a reader, like Katniss, you end up doing when either of these two guys come up) and it's so different. We know Peeta is strong and smart etc. He's not a hunter but he's also still a provider (of bread). And he has his own pride too. But going through the Games, Peeta and Katniss have a balanced push and pull. She helps him, he helps her. She takes care of him, he takes care of her. When he's hurt, he lets Katniss help him. He's not too proud to try and do it himself. Same with Katniss. She lets him take care of her when she needs it. And this is something they learn from the Games, particularly Katniss; how to accept help from others. And we see her development in this over the course of the trilogy.
Gale is interesting in that I really think he is one of the characters in the books who really doesn't grow as such. In my mind, he's rooted in place in many ways. From his ideals, to his thoughts, to his strategies, to his actions, he doesn't really develop much. He has moments - but a lot of those moments are tied to wanting to apologise to or be better for Katniss (and still he comes up short). I'm thinking of the moment where he makes her feel bad for defending her prep team in 13 and then later tries to smooth things over in the canteen by being kind. I believe that's something he did only for Katniss. She's his motivation to be different (but turns out that's not enough still.)
I'll maybe build on this another time but this passage made me think of what he says when he sees Katniss after Prim's death. "Does it matter? You'll always be thinking about it... That was the one thing I had going for me. Taking care of your family." Instead of apologising for helping to create such bombs, instead of asking for forgiveness, instead of crying with her, instead of expressing his sorrow and regret at what's happened, this is all he's able to say. Which is odd to me. To not even try to comfort your supposed closest friend at such a time. To say that's all you had going for you? It's this relationship of transaction. 'I take care of your family and hunt with you so you should end up marring me.' I really don't think that's far from what Gale expected.
I think there's even more to say about Gale as a patriarchal character but I've rambled on enough at this point. But his attitude and perspective throughout the book, while aligned with that of a traumatised young adult in the midst of oppression, also aligns heavily with patriarchal constructs. The way he thinks of war and people and human relationships, the way he thinks of fighting and death, and the way he thinks of doing whatever you have to do to achieve your end, no matter what happens or who gets hurt in pursuit of it. If anyone has any reading on Gale in these areas I'd be so interested in it!
#the cracks were always there in katniss and gale's relationship#but just as interesting as i find it tracking everlark's relationship#tracking the breakdown of katniss and gale's is actually equally fascinating to me#katniss everdeen#gale hawthorne#the hunger games#thg#everlark

Something that lowkey bothered me when I reread Stormbringer was Lippman's introduction.

Asagiri was clearly setting up something with this, and I don't know if I've overlooked something or missed it, but as far as we can tell, nothing catastrophic regarding Lippman was ever mentioned after his death.
And it might be that, a few days after that, the whole Guivre fiasco happened that made the media outlets focus on bigger things, but idk.
It would've been interesting to see the uproar Lippman's death actively caused, how the media would have tied him to the mafia, and the public's opinion about it. Or Verlaine being held accountable after being defeated bcs of it. Or how the European division, the one that Verlaine used to work at, would handle being exposed or outed amongst the other messes that occurred.
Or, more interestingly, having Verlaine spare killing Lippman in opposition to the others because he's aware of this very threat. :)
#Just... any payoff#I love Asagiri's writing so so much#but it's no secret that they sometimes forget their own characters/set up premises#don't blame them though#they've got ALOT going on at bsd it's hard to keep track#I imagine their reaction while writing the last page was FUCKING FINALLY#especially since this might be their biggest novel#so yeah it's understandable#I can't even write 5k words without having a breakdown xnchdje#bsd#bsd storm bringer#bsd stormbringer#bsd lippmann#bungo stray dogs#bungou stray dogs#kafka asagiri#j's post#J's writing ✍🏽

#he really does cut people out cold shoulder them with no discussion huh.... fascinating man......#invisible transgressions remembered forever at arms length#he is. i think. pathologically nonconfrontational. idk even with the sepang stuff.#like he doesnt look at marc AT ALL only performs to the press. same with argentina he sends uccio.... <- *eye* have a theory that vale on his factory settings is actually quite a desperate people-pleaser. not necessarily in a "i need others to approve of me" way (though that too) but in a "i need for others to cheer for me" (to try and explain what i mean better, he's not doing anything just to get the approval but he wants to feel approved/supported for whatever he's doing. different catalysts for action, same need). that's why he can play the crowd so well. and sepang - i think it was genuinely a protracted breakdown caused by vale realizing he's not superhuman anymore and his lead slipping and compounded by the anniversary of the worst loss he's suffered in his life
post about graziano here, jorge confrontation here
like the thing about vale is. well we dont personally know him. so outside of stuff people close to him tell us, we only see the side of him he wants to show the press, which is still him, just more of a performance, i think. its already been discussed AT LENGTHHH that he loves to do this sort of performance and is just. generally very good at being a celebrity. and i think its an extension of his PR deftness that when jorge comes at him he just laughs and looks at his audience. he ropes them into a private joke, like can you believe this guy? which jorge (who takes to confrontation like a duck to water) HATES so bad. its a very effective deflection tactic. fr the easiest way to seem like the bad guy is to treat an argument like it is worthy of your attention. so he meep-meep roadrunner court jesters his way through off track conflict for the majority of his career. and yes he makes enemies and they tell US that he is being cold and prickly and treating them differently. but crucially. he does not seem anything other than a Chill Dude in front of the cameras. until well. sepang lol.
so yes! i think he is invested in controlling these narratives and good at it to boot. but!!!! where it gets crazy is when you get to the personal arenas. like the people he loves that he is actually invested in. where his feelings are on the line fr.
like for other (professional) conflicts he gets over it!! but not with his dad and not with marc. and part of the marc stuff is the ego involved (theyre having a GOAT-off) and the professional stakes, as ive discussed. BUT. i think he doesnt get over these two because. well. because they really really hurt his feelings, i think. like he's said in the past that he's been able to get over the rivalries he has with other racers (like biaggi) bc they WERENT friends before so he didnt gaf when it got nasty. but. he still. REALLY cares with marc. (and of course with his parents divorce. like yeah that makes sense) so i actually think its very telling that he isnt over sepang. and that he didnt look at marc at all whenever they had their epic divorce moments (sepang press conference, postrace argentina 2018) rosquez would be less real if he could just move on lol. like it is a divorce to them both for REAL. so vale is going to handle it the same way he did with his parents and quietly cut marc out while making it. VERY clear. that marc is no longer one of the people that he holds within the select bubble that gets to see vale without all of his press trappings.
#ANYWAY. thats also why i think marc holds out so much hope for so long. bc vale is still polite and nonconfrontational off track for. years.#AND YEAH. it is the result of like. a protracted breakdown lol. like my man is STRUGGLING with getting old and anxiety about sic and alltha#motogp#callie speaks#asks#rosquez#valentino rossi#long post
