Yandere Daryl Dixon taking care of traumatized reader—why can't everyone just go away? except you, you can stay. (cw(s): Daryl's trauma, talks of anxiety, ptsd, non-descriptive self-harm)
Yandere Daryl didn't think much of you at first. You're just another weaklin' that'll be gone in a few dawns. He shouldn't waste his time lookin' after people like that anyway.
You barely talked since he met ya. You refuse to make eye contact with anyone else in the group. You contribute, but it isn't much. Unlike him, you appear to be a sweet lil snack for the walkers: defenseless and skittish, a rabbit.
Still, like a leaf holdin' onto a sickly oak in a tornado, you stayed alive. From the quarry to the prison, you ambled along, not opening up to anyone. Well, maybe you opened up to him just a lil.
Yandere Daryl ends up being your safe place. He's someone who listens. He may not be good with feelings n' shit but he listens well. He lets you curl up next to him and tell him about anything. Sometimes it's nothing, and he appreciates that.
You both can sit in silence, and it's never awkward. It's like two kin souls meeting each other and simmering together.
Yandere Daryl grows closer to you. He doesn't want to think about it. He's always thinkin' about ya. There's always at least one eye on your figure.
He refuses to let you go on trips alone or without him. So naturally he gets somewhat aggressive when others talk down to ya. If someone raises their voice atcha, then he's ready to punch their teeth inward. He's proud of the sick and twisted thoughts that roll through his head of the things he wants to do to anything that threatens to hurt you.
He doesn't want to show you that side of him.
He's heard about your past and how the fall of the world affected you. He promised himself that he wouldn't ever be the reason you shut down or have a pstd flashback. He's workin' on being better than his mom and pop's relationship. Even the notion of possibly raising a hand against you makes his stomach churn, his head spin.
Yandere Daryl is always there to comfort you when something goes awry. He's still shitty at it, but he provides himself and hopes to whatever is out there, that's it's good enough. He tends to wrap one or both arms around you when you shut down/regress. He enjoys placing his chin over the top of your head and humming a sweet tune that he heard from the uppity church ladies that used to frequent his shitty neighborhood.
He tries to say those nice things.
"Is alright."
"I'll protect ya."
"You're safe. The bad people can't hurt ya no more."
It helps heal his inner child as well. He gets to protect you, and it feels like he's protecting little Daryl Dixon as well. There's no screamin', hittin', broken booze bottles, or half-tapped-out cigarettes. There's only you and him.
He'd murder anyone that got in the way of that, even Carol, even Rick.
He'll never admit it, but he likes it when you play with his hair, especially when you're stressed or overwhelmed. If you trace his scars, then he's in heaven.
Yandere Daryl always makes sure you have whatever health stuff you need. It could be meds, certain foods, prosthetics, or anything else. He'll do anything. He puts himself in the toughest situations just to make sure you are happy n' alive.
Have a medical condition? Meds are yours. He'll find substitutes if he can or learn medicinal remedies.
Allergies or food restrictions? No worries. He may be a shitty cook, but it's the end of the world. He's got plenty of time to practice so you can have a fully tummy and plenty of energy.
Hard of hearing or deaf? He learns sign language. He may be bad at it, but he'll learn! He doesn't mind repeating himself or repeating what others said for you. He'll do his best to find hearing aids or batteries if you used those before the world went to hell.
Partially or fully blind? He'll find you a cane or wittle you a walking stick. He'll be your guide.
Have a missing body part or limited mobility? He'll search high and low for a prosthetic. He'll carry you if he needs to. He'll help you in any way. He can't really find how practical wheelchairs are in the apocalypse, but he'll figure somethin' out.
Some other restriction or something rare he's never heard of? He'll go hell n' back to make sure you have whatever you need.
You just need space? Fine. He's still going to watch you from afar.
There are times when walker bites seem to pale in comparison to that innocently bright expression in your eyes. It's the look that he's always wanted to see from somebody. You look at him like he's some sort of protector, some hero. The first time he saw it, his initial reaction was to brush it off and call you stupid. He regretted that as soon as he saw you deflate and curl back within yourself. He mumbled a 'sorry' and made sure to never do it again.
Yandere Daryl almost breaks down the first time he notices your self-harming tendencies. It could be fresh cuts or starving yourself. It isn't good. He tries not to be harsh with you.
He tries.
It's just so hard because he's crying. He's trying to be quiet but he can't. He loves you so much that the thought of you not loving yourself makes him want to worship you until you do.
Why can't you see it? Why can't you see how special you are?
He wants to think you're selfish, but he knows you're not. It's your body. Is he being selfish? No. Yes? No.
He doesn't know.
All he knows is that he ends up on his knees with tears streaming down his face. He's begging. The words aren't intelligible, but he is.
This is what you do to him. This lil lamb just had to lay in his pasture.
Just stay alive. He'll do the rest for you.
Yandere Daryl just protects you. He hates groups but he knows they're important. You've made bonds, and so has he, unfortunately. He'll just keep you close. Maybe one day he'll be able to confess his undying reverence for you. Hopefully you won't figure out how many people he has killed for you. The things he has done... oh, they'd make the devil cry. As long as you sleep well at night knowing your Daryl Dixon is protectin' you. Well, he doesn't care about the so-called 'collateral damage' because of it.

Elizabeth Warren for Time Magazine:
To everyone who feels like their heart has been ripped out of their chest, I feel the same. To everyone who is afraid of what happens next, I share your fears. But what we do next is important, and I need you in this fight with me. As we confront a second Donald Trump presidency, we have two tasks ahead. First, try to learn from what happened. And then, make a plan.
Many political experts and D.C. insiders are already blaming President Joe Biden’s economic agenda for Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss. This does not stand up to scrutiny. Even though the Biden economy produced strong economic growth while reining in inflation, incumbent parties across the globe have been tossed out by voters after the pandemic. American voters also showed support for Democratic economic policies, for example, approving ballot initiatives to raise the minimum wage in Alaska and to guarantee paid sick leave in Missouri.
[...] What comes next? Trump won the election, but more than 67 million people voted for Democrats and they don’t expect us to roll over and play dead. We will have a peaceful transition of power, followed by a vigorous challenge from the party out of power, because that’s how democracy works. Here’s a path forward.
First, fight every fight in Congress.
We won’t always win, but we can slow or sometimes limit Trump’s destruction. With every fight, we can build political power to put more checks on his administration and build the foundation for future wins. Remember that during the first Trump term, mass mobilization—including some of the largest peaceful protests in world history—was the battery that charged the resistance. There is power in solidarity, and we can’t win if we don’t get in the fight. During the Trump years, Congress stepped up its oversight of his unprecedented corruption and abuses of power. In the Senate, Democrats gave no quarter to radical Trump nominees; we asked tough questions and held the Senate floor for hours to slow down confirmation and expose Republican extremism. These tactics doomed some nominations entirely, laid the groundwork for other cabinet officials to later resign in disgrace, and brought scrutiny that somewhat constrained Trump’s efforts.
When all this work came together, we won some of the toughest fights. Remember Republicans’ attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act? Democrats did not have the votes to stop the repeal. Nevertheless, we fought on. Patients kept up a relentless rotation of meetings in Congress, activists in wheelchairs performed civil disobedience, and lawmakers used every tactic possible—late night speeches, forums highlighting patient stories, committee reports, and procedural tactics—to draw attention to the Republican repeal effort. This sustained resistance ultimately shifted the politics of health care repeal. The final vote was a squeaker, but Republicans lost and the ACA survived.
Democrats should also acknowledge that seeking a middle ground with a man who calls immigrants “animals” and says he will “protect” women “whether the women like it or not” is unlikely to land in a good place. Uniting against Trump’s legislative agenda is good politics because it is good policy. It was Democratic opposition to Trump’s tax bill that drove Trump’s approval ratings to what was then the lowest levels of his administration, forcing Republicans to scrap all mention of the law ahead of the 2018 midterm election and helping spark one of the largest blue waves in recent history.
Second, fight Trump in the courts.
Yes, extremist courts, including a Supreme Court stocked with MAGA loyalists, are poised to rubber-stamp Trump’s lawlessness. But litigation can slow Trump down, give us time to prepare and help the vulnerable, and deliver some victories.
Third, focus on what each of us can do.
I understand my assignment in the Senate, but we all have a part to play. During the first Trump administration, Democrats vigorously contested every special election and laid the groundwork to take back the House in the 2018 midterms, creating a powerful check on Trump and breaking the Republican trifecta. Whether it’s stepping up to run for office, supporting a neighbor’s campaign, or getting involved in an organization taking action, we all have to continue to make investments in our democracy—including in states that are passed over as “too red.” The political position we’re in is not permanent, and we have the power to make change if we fight for it.
Finally, Democrats currently in office must work with urgency.
While still in charge of the Senate and the White House, we must do all we can to safeguard our democracy. To resist Trump’s threats to abuse state power against what he calls “the enemy within,” Pentagon leaders should issue a directive now reiterating that the military’s oath is to the Constitution. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer must use every minute of the end-of-year legislative session to confirm federal judges and key regulators—none of whom can be removed by the next President. To those feeling despair: I understand. But remember, every step toward progress in American history came after the darkness of defeat. Abolitionists, suffragettes, Dreamers, and marchers for civil rights and marriage equality all faced impossible odds, but they persisted. Now it is our turn to pull up our socks and get back in the fight.
Elizabeth Warren wrote a well-written op-ed in Time encouraging Senate Democrats to confirm loads of judges and other jobs requiring Senate confirmation while we still have the majority and also fight back against the Trump tyranny.

Lewis Nixon's Eulogy by Dick Winters
From the USAHEC archive (emphasis are mine):
I first met Lewis Nixon at Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning, Georgia, in April, 1942.
We both volunteered for the parachute troops in August, 1942 and we were both assigned to Co. E, 2nd Bn., 506th Parachute Infantry at Camp Toombs, Toccoa, Georgia.
We were together for the rest of World War II.
I have many memories of Lewis in combat.
1) On D-day I was involved in a fight to take over a battery of 105mm. cannon, firing on Utah Beach. During the battle Lewis went down Causeway #2 to the beachhead and brought back the first two tanks to come ashore at Utah Beach. He brought them to me to help finish off the battle.
From that point on, it seemed that every time I was committed to a fight, I found Nixon walking beside me.
2) In Holland, on September 17th, 1944, Operation Market Garden, right after the jump, Lewis was by my side as we approached the bridge at Son. The Germans blew the bridge and rocks and pieces of timber fell all around us.
3) On September 22, 191m, Company E was sent out as an advance party to secure Uden, a small town along Hell’s Highway.
I had only 80 men. We were cut off and surrounded. Nixon was with me.
Together, we went up a church tower for better observation of the battle. As we huddled behind the parapet, under the big church bell, a German evidently spotted us and sent a bullet to ring the bell over our heads. We literally jumped down the stairs in about two strides.
4) On September 25, 1944, the Germans cut Hell’s Highway again, this time south of Veghel. Nixon was again beside me as we crossed a big field to relieve the roadblock. In the middle of the field we came under machine gun fire from German Royal Tiger tanks and troops from the 6th German Parachute Regt.
As we hit the dirt, Nixon had a bullet hit the front of his helmet at such an angle that it just grazed his forehead, never breaking the skin, leaving only a brown mark on his forehead, before exiting through the side of his helmet.
l happened to look his way as he took off his helmet, looked at it and smiled. He refused to keep that helmet as a souvenir.
5) On October 5, 1944, in Holland, after a particularly hard fight, again, it was Nixon checking up on me to see how I was doing. It was Nixon who gave me his canteen when I asked for a drink of water - yes, the canteen was full of water - not Vat 69!
6) At Bastogne he had his name drawn out of the hat in a lottery that would have given him a 30 day leave in the States.
He refused the offer, saying he wanted to stay with the outfit on the line. How do you explain that kind of dedication? That kind of dedication is never talked about by the men, but it is never forgotten. At that time we were very short on men and officers, especially good , proven officers.
7) Nixon was moved from the 2nd Bn staff 'to the 506th Regimental staff as S-3, Plans and Training Officer. He was a key man in keeping the regiment together during the biggest battle of World War II at Bastogne.
8) On March 24, 1945, in Operation Varsity, the 17th Airborne jumped across the Rhine as the big push started to cross the Rhine River and go for Berlin. Lewis made that jump as an advisor. The plane he was in was shot down. As jumpmaster, he and three other men made it out before the plane crashed.
9) We were together every step of the way from D—Day to Berchtesgaden, May 8th, V-E Day.
Lewis Nixon was the best combat officer that I had the opportunity to work with under fire. He never at any time showed fear, and during the toughest times he could always think under fire. Very few men can think while under fire; very few men can remain poised under an artillery concentration.
Lewis always trusted me. While we were in training, before combat, Lewis hid his entire inventory of Vat 69 in my footlocker, under the tray holding my socks, beneath my underwear and sweaters. What greater trust, what greater honor could I ask for than to be trusted with his precious inventory of Vat 69?
While sharing all those days and experiences in training and in combat, we also shared our memories of our families, our school days, of our growing up, of our friends at home.
I felt as though I knew his mother, his father, his sister. I knew all about his grandparents on both sides of the family. He had a excellent heritage from both sides. He had been sent to excellent schools, and an Ivy League College. He had great wealth, was good-looking, had an excellent vocabulary, was very well-spoken; he was very well—read, smart, and had a good sense of humor. He had all the ingredients one could ask for to make a happy life - except one factor - LOVE!
Until Lewis met and married Grace he had never found or experienced true love.
It was only after his marriage to Grace that he found true happiness, peace within himself.
Together they travelled to just about every corner of the world; they shared many wonderful experiences together.
Grace demonstrated her love over these past years through her care for Lewis. Without the love and care-of Grace, Lewis would have died many, many years ago.
Whenever Grace would talk to me on the telephone, or write me a letter or a Christmas card, the message was always the same.
"Lewis is so brave; he never complains, he always has a smile for me whenever I come into his room — and that just makes it all worthwhile." I am sure those words are familiar to all of you here today.
I am also sure that all of you will agree with me when I say that with that smile Lewis gave Grace each day, it was his way of saying:
Thank you, Grace, for your care.
Thank you, Grace, for your patience in these trying times..
Thank you, Grace, for being faithful and understanding.
Thank you, Grace, for your love.
#just transcribe to text for archiving purposes#reread it and it made me sentimental again#dick winters#lewis nixon#ok so Nix brought the tanks for you not for the army#I get it#euology#listen to the soundtrack isn’t helping

INTRODUCTION
Varoom!!
The sound of a powerful motor echoes deep within a cave somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. Hanging from a ceiling, stalactites vibrate from the sound. A racetrack has been cleared on the rocky floor.
Around the outside of the track stand the Autobots. With them are their human friends Sparkplug Witwicky and his son, Spike.
They are watching a large red van speed around the track. It is Ironhide, the oldest and toughest of the Autobots. He is testing the Sun-Pak, an experimental solar battery designed by Sparkplug. They are deep underground so that the test will be a secret.
The Autobots need fuel as much as humans need food. If this battery works as well as Sparkplug says, it could be the answer to the Autobots' prayers!
Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots, is elated.
"Twenty-three hours and still going strong!" He says.
Ratchet has been keeping a close eye on the test. If something goes wrong, he's the Autobot fix-it man.
"Hey, Ironhide," He calls to the red van, "how are you feeling? Have your old gears started to wear out yet?"
"Go chew on a microchip!" shouts Ironhide as he whizzes by. "I have never felt better!"
Sparkplug checks his stopwatch. "According to my calculations, he should have full power for another hour."
NEXT
Fun fact: For some reason Spike is renamed Buster in this book.

“Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10
General Ulysses S. Grant tried to break through the defense of Vicksburg, a critical Confederate stronghold on the Mississippi river. Over the course of a year he triedhead-on, going around, and spent months digging a new canal that changed the course of the river. He tried floating his boats into the city through over flooded land. Nothing worked until he made a move that was contrary to military thinking, floating his boats past the gun batteries guarding the river. Surviving a nighttime firefight, nearly all the boats made the run unharmed. Grant and his troops crossed the river some thirty miles downstream, landing at a place called Hard Times, Louisiana. It was by way of Hard Times they would fight their way to victory laying hold on Vicksburg. God never promised you a life without controversy, reproaches, persecution, or distresses. He promised to empower you giving you strength in times of weakness. According to the apostle Paul, it is the worst and the hardest of times that become the strongest of times. Even a dim bulb looks bright in darkness. What battle is the toughest in war? THE BATTLE YOU ARE IN RIGHT NOW. Many reading this are facing your deepest and toughest of life circumstances. Like Grant you have tried everything imaginable to keep you, your family, business, or church safe. Sometimes you have to go straight toward the firing line to get a breakthrough for victory. You too may land at a place called “Hard Times”. Just be glad you landed. Remember just because you are in hard times does not mean it is over. Pull up your boot straps soldier, put one foot in front of the other, and keep on marching. Your victory is waiting on you. Our prayer for you this week: May you come to realize infirmities, reproaches, persecutions, and distresses are only the beginning of the victory that awaits you.

Headcanons for Dean Winchester that are true cause I say so;
- he wears his socks inside out, he’ll tell u it’s cause it brings good luck and protects from witches spells or whatever, but it’s really cause he hates the feeling of the seams.
- he fully believes that any music that was made after the year 2000, isn’t “real music” (his favorite genre of music will forever be divorced dad rock)
- supernatural stuff and magic doesn’t bother him, (he’s literally beheaded several people) but the SECOND someone who’s double - jointed starts moving funny, or someone cracks a joint to loud, he’s wincing and freaking out, claiming it’s “unnatural!”
- if the hunting doesn’t work out, dean could become a pro video gamer. He has insane hand eye coordination and beats the toughest levels with ease. Surprisingly tho, shooting games are not his fav, he prefers stuff like Pac-Man, (“sam! He hunts ghost just like us!!!) and donkey Kong
- he claims to be an extrovert, but he hasn’t been around large groups of people long enough to figure out that he’s actually an introvert with a high social battery sometimes. (He’ll figure it out eventually)
- he forgets to eat like 95% of the time; (despite the fact that Sam already reminded him that his recovery time would be faster if he would eat FOOD BEFORE HE LOSES 6 LITERS OF BLOOD) he usually will eat if he happens to notice sam eating (but unless it’s the supernatural, deans observational skills are not the best)
- he hates baths. He says that he has seen TOO MANY bad things happen in bath tubs and he will not be one of them, no sir. He will not set foot in a bath filled with water past his ankles if he can help it. However he LOVES showers and the ones he takes are SCALDING, and VERY long. He uses up every drop of hot water. (This used to annoy Sam, but he figured out that the cold water helped with the visions and headaches, so he didn’t mind anymore)
- you will not catch this man DEAD with shoes only tied once. His shoes are forever double knotted, and if he’s nervous about a mission, you can always tell because his laces are triple - knotted (his weirdest fear is his shoes will come off or his laces will untie while he’s running from a monster; yes, he has had nightmares about this)

An artillery battery is a unit of cannons, missiles, and other weapons grouped to ensure command and control of the battlefield. In the 1860s, baseball statistician Henry Chadwick first described the teamwork of a pitcher and a catcher as a battery: the firepower of the staff.
DEMO TBA.
Before reaching the stardom of grand slams in Yankee Stadium or World Series shutouts, every professional baseball player was once where you are now: the Minor Leagues. Divided into levels from Rookie ball to Triple A, everyone working their way through the Minors has the same goal: to get promoted up to the Big Leagues. The Major Leagues. The Show. And you?
You are no exception.
You are the newest addition to the Double-A Okmulgee Pecans, a Minor League affiliate of the successful and storied Oklahoma City 66s. Surrounded by young, talented, hungry ballplayers, it’s your job to not only succeed in this competitive league, but stand out. As a catcher, you play one of the toughest positions in baseball— and the most important. Your chemistry with your pitchers and your team can make or break a play, an inning, or a whole game. With the constant eye of coaches, team management, and baseball fans on your back, will you find your swing? Can you help lead your team to victory? And can you keep yourself from getting distracted by the potential affections of those around you— or lean into them?
FIREPOWER is an upcoming interactive fiction novel about the love that lives in the infield dirt, the outfield grass, the diamond, and the dugout. In short: it’s about baseball, it’s about falling in love, and it’s about falling in love with baseball.
It is cautiously rated 18+ for themes and/or mentions of substance abuse, past traumas, and structural inequities in professional sports. Warnings will be toggle-able for potentially triggering scenes, which may be skipped.
FEATURES.
Customize your character’s appearance, handedness, and strengths in the game. Play as a man, woman, or nonbinary with options to be gay, straight, or bisexual.
Play through competitive at-bats, bat in your teammates and hit powerful home runs. Make skillful defensive plays; throw out runners trying to steal bases and tag runners out at home with quick reflexes.
Catch bullpens one-on-one with your pitchers to build your chemistry— on the field and off of it. Become a better catcher, and make them better too.
Lead a locker room and become part of a tight-knit team aiming for victory— and maybe a promotion.
Flirt with and romance any combination of your pitchers, other teammates, or the competent Front Office intern. Choose the gender of 2 out of the 4 ROs.
ROMANCE OPTIONS.
JJ Kim (gender selectable). 23. A rising star pitcher who is almost, but not quite, the team’s ace. Has a temper that has gotten them ejected from a couple games, but uses that intensity towards being the best on the mound. Friendly, but soon it becomes clear they’re difficult to truly get to know.
Olivia Lawson (f). 25. The cheeky second baseman who, despite her unflappably positive attitude, is aching to prove herself. A locker room leader and part of the Pecans for two years, she’s seeking a standout season and wants nothing but the best from her teammates. A cheerful, loyal presence underscored by fiery determination and grit.
Hirohito Kinoshita (m). 24. The best pitcher on the team by a long shot. A rising star who previously played professionally in Japan before signing as a free agent in the offseason. It’s widely assumed that he’ll be in the Major Leagues in the next year or two. Sarcastic, cocky, and kind of an asshole, with a genuine curiosity for his new home.
Dakota “Junie” McIntosh (gender selectable). 22. A college senior and D1 athlete trying their hand at baseball administration on the off chance they don’t get drafted. Though they pitched in high school, they now exclusively play shortstop, but at the moment all they’re playing with is paperwork and Excel formatting.

This will be my first IF project. More information, including RO descriptions and Artbreeder portraits, will be coming soon. Any interaction including reblogs, likes, and asks, are greatly appreciated!

I love whumping the Vs from Hazbin Hotel – all three of them, not just Valentino, since rich bastards are my favourite type of victims – and here’s some cute ideas I’ve come up with for maximum pain.
Valentino has a tendency to lose his wings. A moth’s wings cannot grow back once ripped, so it’d be permanent karma on his part. Piercing and cutting them without removing them could also be fun. Another insect-specific whump could also be dosing him in smoke or nailing his limbs to a surface.
Velvette’s main target are her hair and face. She’s an influencer and values her beauty. Her ankles are also vulnerable. She seems to be the toughest of the trio, though, so she’s usually the spectator and caretaker.
But the most whumpable by far is Vox. He’s an electronic device, so there’s so much one can do to break him. Shatter his screen. Dose his exploded circuitry with water. Leave him without battery to recharge, making him weaker and weaker until he passes unconscious. One time I had the whumper – Crimson from Helluva Boss – wire him to a running car battery until he overloaded and his head exploded in smoke. He was repaired but… it wasn’t amusing for him.
His fragility can also force the other two to do things against their will to keep him safe.
Do you like these ideas so far? What else can we do to bring the dreaded Vs down to everyone’s level?
Hazbin whump is so much fun specifically because almost all of them are at least half non human, there's so much room for creativity with whumping them LOL these are absolutely fantastic. I think especially anything insect or generally animal related is always fun and really interesting so I love your ideas for Valentino but these are all great 😈😈
#thank you for sending these!!!!!#i think you hit all the boxes i wouldve hit lol#hazbin headcanons#velvette#valentino#vox#the vees#hazbin hotel#whump#torture mention#injury

Public Service Announcement
Woke up to find my entire entertainment center dead again. It seems that my backup power supply turned itself off during the night somehow (but it's connected to the power outlet, so it still should've been providing power even with its battery function off?)
And then of course my computer's CPU had to be the toughest piece of equipment to bring back online. It just wouldn't turn back on again until after I'd tried nearly a dozen different outlets. (The date ended up going back to 2005 this time... we're slowly making our way to the present day!)
No clue what's going on there? Power surge from the outlet? Is the (supposedly) uninterruptible PSU dying? Is the power supply in the computer dying? Are they both in a lover's pact to commit suicide at the same time?!
Anyway, no game code lost this time, but I did lose a good chunk of the notes and outlines that I'd created for myself. Apparently I somehow hadn't saved that document since Saturday(?!?) and Microsoft Word's recovery function didn't work. (Maybe I messed up by booting into Safe Mode at first.) 🥲
So, not much progress today.

Day 102: Yiga's Final Showdown
From the Lightroot, I can see a whole chain of Zora statues.
I follow the trail onwards.
I pass a mine at Ruto Canyon, and risk leaving the trail to find treasure. Excellent - a large crystallised charge. I should definitely visit the Great Sky Island and upgrade my battery.
I find the trail again, and keep running.
And when I reach the end, I feel foolish.
I've been here before. The Abandoned Lanayru Mine. This is the place I had to swim back across the lake after activating the lightroot. How long ago was that - a month?

Damn. Well, at least I know I'm in the right place. I wonder if Kohga is here.
He is indeed. He's still trying to unlock Rauru's panels.

And when I make myself known, he still wants to kill me.

We engage. I'll miss this guy when I eventually kill him for good.
He's verbose in defeat. It sounds like the Yiga have been collecting crystallised charges… for the Demon King. I suppose I should have seen that coming, though I had really hoped that they were following a different path.
There's only one mine they haven't ransacked, according to him. The Northwestern Abandoned Mine. There, they'll activate an ultimate weapon for the Demon King. I dread to think.
And he's off again.

The steward activates once Kohga leaves. The mine he's headed to is the Abandoned Hebra Mine. Access sounds tricky. Maybe there's somewhere near Rito Village where I can drop down into the Depths?
I trade some zonaite for crystallised charges at the forge, and accept a schema stone for a bolt boat from another steward.
Then I head to Rito Village to look for this chasm.
I circle the main spire of the Village, hoping for a wisp of gloom to show me the way. Instead, I find a campfire. The researcher Ponnick is here, and has found it for me! Very convenient. I hope Josha gives him a raise.
I head into the Rito Village Chasm.

First things first - illumination. I activate the lightroot.
We're in some kind of old structure - it's too ruined to see what it might have been. Kohga waits within it. He's uncharacteristically still.

But I'm not alone. I carry the avatars of five Sages with me.
His final machine is complete. It's a true mech, like the construct that houses Mineru's spirit. He intends to take it to the Demon King, in the Depths below Hyrule Castle.

I can't let him.
It's my toughest fight against him yet. It's lucky I'd already fought Mineru's construct - I know about the fences, and how it might attack. Once, he almost takes me down. But I defeat him, once again.
He pulls a last-ditch attempt out of the air, but the rocket isn't finished yet - and it hits him instead.

He's blasted away, and back out of the Depths.
Hmm. I'm sure that won't come back to bite me down the line.
The stewards wake now that the threat is gone. I clear the place in Kogha's wake - there are crystallised charges, a schema stone for a rocket platform, and diamonds.
After rinsing the place, I suppose I should report back to Josha.

By Sen. Elizabeth Warren
November 7, 2024 3:34 PM EST
American voters also showed support for Democratic economic policies, for example, approving ballot initiatives to raise the minimum wage in Alaska and to guarantee paid sick leave in Missouri.
...
What comes next?
