Legacy

The warm tropical sun shone through the windows of the villa. Lucille Tracy sat at her desk. She let out a sorrowful sigh. I can’t believe that it’s his death date again. Lucille thought bitterly. Her vision blurred as tears spilled from her eyes. It had been years since her husband died, but grief felt like new. An ache pushed against her heart. He was her other half, the one whom she shared all her secrets with. He was gone, and all she could do was weep into her hands. She was so deep in her sad thoughts that she didn’t notice that she had company.

“Oh, mother,” said Scott, full of sympathy for his grieving mother. The oldest Tracy had an inkling that he needed to check on his mother. It was lunchtime, so Scot grabbed lunch for his mother. He set down the plate on the desk and went to give his mother a huge hug. Lucille leaned into the hug, and she couldn't help but cry even harder. They stayed like that for a good minute before the eyes in the third oldest son’s portrait started to glow. 

Lucille looked up from her hands. She gave Scott a mournful smile. Gosh, he could have been Jeff’s twin. A new wave of sadness hit Lucille like a Tsunami. She swallowed the lump in her throat, but tears rimmed her eyes.

Scott let go of his mother. He flipped a switch on his mother’s desk and was greeted with the concerned face of one John Tracy. 

“Ma, how are you doing?” John asked.

A sad sigh Escaped Lucille's lips as sadness flitted across her face.“I’m doing as well as I can be.” Scott stood beside Lucille. He gently squeezed her shoulder as if to say, ‘I’m here, mother.’

John’s heart twisted as he watched on from Thunderbird Five.  In moments like these, John wished that he wasn't up in Thunderbirds Five so he could comfort his grieving mother.

‘I miss him terribly.” John said the whole family was grieving on this day. John himself had grieved in his own way. He had spent almost all morning talking to Virgil. They had talked about the bitter-sweet memories of their late father. He had found himself mourning the death of his father too.

Lucille gave a glum smile.” Your father came up with the idea of International Rescue. He told me about his wonderful organization that would save people. I was on board the moment he spoke the words "International Rescue.” There was a pause, a lump formed in Lucille's throat. “He told me about his International Rescue a few hours before his death. I made myself a promise when I saw Grant and his frozen bodies. That promise was to make  International Rescue real so that no one else had to go through the pain that I went through losing my husband and father-in-law.”

After another pause, Lucille shuddered, holding back a sob. She gestured with her hands to the room around her. “Scott, John, this is your late father’s legacy, “ Lucille said,” if it wasn’t for your father’s ideas, none of this would be possible. At that moment, Lucille wished that Jeff could be here to see his sons now.

“He would be so proud of you guys,” praised Lucille as she wiped her tears with the back of her hand. 

“Mother,” said Scott,” Father would be proud of you. It takes a lot to run a billion-dollar company. He would be proud.”

John nodded in agreement and added,” You’re also a great author. You made three mystery novels, two of which were on the bestseller list. Father would be so proud of your novels too.” 

Lucille gave John a sad smile. She let out a sigh. The pain of loss was still there, but the pain was less.

Before they could continue talking, something caught John’s attention on Thunderbird Five. “Ma, I think I’m getting a call in for International Rescue, be right back.” With that, John hung up, and Lucille sat staring at John's still Portrait.

Thirty seconds later, John's face reappeared in the portrait. “Ma, that was the California Fire Department. They need help fighting a huge forest fire.”

Scott stood beside his mother, ready for action.

“Tell them that Thunderbirds One and Two are on their way.” 

“F.A.B.”

With that, John ended his second call. Lucille checked the clock that hung on the wall beside her. It was noon, and the rest of the Tracys were enjoying lunch. There wasn’t time to walk to the kitchen with fire rescues every minute counts. So, she did the next best thing.  Lucille slapped a red button on her desk, and all of a sudden, an alarm rang throughout the island.

Virgil was the first one to arrive behind him, Gordon and Allan.  They stood by the desk, ready for their mission

“Boys, there is a wildfire in California," stated Lucille. ”Launch Thunderbird One and Two, Gordon, you go with Virgil. Alan, you stay. You might be needed on another call.”

With that, the boys rushed to their Thunderbirds, and Alan went out onto the patio to watch the launch. Rubbing the last tears from her eyes, she glanced up at the heavens. 

“Keep watch over them, Jeff.”

On that note: Been thinking about TOS AU for Vesperia and so far, i've gotten TWO versions of this AU and Im digging both of them (Both of them have Estelle and Yuri being the chosen ones of their world btw bc Estelle being child of the full moon and also i just love the idea of Yuri with the angel wings so being a lil selfish about this one <3 )

Some spoilers for Tales of Symphonia below LMAO

AU 1: Yuri grows up as the Chosen in the thriving city with Flynn as his childhood friend. Flynn's parents are murdered by Desians (His father in combat and his mother executed to make an example) and Yuri decides that, no matter what, he's going to regenerate the world and get rid of the Desians for Flynn, even if it means he won't be around anymore. Flynn decides to journey with Yuri on his journey of regeneration so he can make sure Yuri doesn't die along the way and so he can have a hand in the vengeance against his parents. (He isn't aware that this journey will also threaten to take away the one person he has left in his life) AU 2: Kind of the same vibe but the Oracle for Yuri arrives WAY too soon (like, yuri is a literal child) and the "Desians" show up to kill Yuri but Flynn's dad and Yuri's mother step in to protect him while Flynn's (wounded) mother takes both Yuri and Flynn and runs away as far as she can. It ultimately leads to her getting to that area that serves as a gate between the two worlds (not that she would know) but one thing leads to another and she winds up in the other world with both Flynn and Yuri in tow. They're found by Hanks and others and before Flynns's mother dies, she begs Hanks to protect Flynn and Yuri and for Yuri and his cruxis crystal to stay hidden and safe.

Hanks is, of course, confused bc his while he's not TOTALLY educated on Chosen stuff, he's wondering why this random child who is NOT the chosen (bc the actual Chosen is the PRINCESS of the kingdom) has the mark OF the chosen but he honors the woman's wishes and takes the boys in. They do end up befriending Estelle later one in their childhood but Flynn and Yuri do their best to keep Yuri's cruxis crystal hidden the entire time. Of course, things get weird when Estelle's Oracle hits a few years later and begins her Journey of Regeneration.

Looking for a series of stories where Kirk and Spock have a bunch of kids, Kirk is an engineer and carries the babies. Spock gets banned from Earth for killing someone (Stonn maybe?) for approaching Jim during Pon Farr. One of the kids is named Sammy. One of Kirk and Spock's kids marries McCoy's kid with Carol. Any ideas?

i just noticed this and like, yeah how are people seeing what delilah’s doing as abuse..? /lh

like, it’s like when a kid gets a vaccine and theyre screaming and crying because they’re afraid and stuff. it’s not the parents’ fault theyre like that, theyre trying to help the kid.

there’s a huge difference between abuse and getting hurt from help. delilah was trying to help astro but astro was hurting from the fall. it doesn’t make her an inherently bad person just because of that.

Im glad people left these tags because ive had a few people call delilah "abusive" and i really never intended for the comic to come off that way

Astro's fall was a complete mistake. It wasnt shown in the comic, but id imagined that the kid who knocked him over was scolded by his parents afterwards.. he was just a kid getting excited As Kids Do and did something impulsive and ended up hurting astro. His parents werent neglective or entitled either, it was just a kid making a mistake. It was the kid's fault, sure, but like kids are gonna mess up sometimes

I can see how the whole face replacement thing can be misinterpreted, thats probably my fault for putting so little context into the comic,,, The animatronic toons were assembled before they were given life, obviously, and while they were still animatronics, any damage and following repairs were done without them feeling a thing. Since they werent. Alive yknow

Astro's accident was the biggest injury theyve had since they were mixed with ichor. they cant exactly just give astro anesthesia or something since hes a mix of machinery and ichor who lacks any organs so when they tried to replace his face it hurt . A lot. He was already in pain since his face was broken, but getting your entire face pried off your head doesnt feel nice either !! He couldnt take it, and although she came off as kind of annoyed i hoped the slight hesitation in her dialogue would express how delilah really didnt like seeing astro in so much pain. She would have through with it if he hadn't squirmed so much, but she didn't like seeing him in so much agony

Neither of the founders wanted to hurt astro, but it was necessary, like cleaning a wound so it doesnt get infected or ripping a bandaid off because it cant stay on your skin forever. It was a difficult situation because no matter what they did, astro would still be in pain, and in order to completely repair him they'd have to take his face off. In the end, astro was begging them to just let him be, and they agreed. Since his parts are exposed now he tends to (painfully) malfunction a lot more and go through frequent maintenance, but they didnt want to force astro to go through that process if he didn't want to, even if it meant he was missing an eye and was more vulnerable to malfunctioning now ,, (they also still shaved and shaped his face to look like a crescent so he didnt have jagged edges which Still Fucking Hurt but it wasnt as bad at least XBDHBFJTB)

Just to clarify neither of the founders are meant to be evil in this au. Morally gray, yes,,,, i mean the whole ichor operation is under heavy wraps because they want to trick customers into thinking their toons are just super advanced robots instead of animatronics brought to life with a mysterious unexplored substance.... but especially toward the toons theyre both gentle and protective. The way delilah speaks make her seem cold and apathetic, but her creations are her life's work. She doesn't want them hurt.

It was never meant to be about abuse, it was meant to be about astro having a choice.
