Reminder that making Loki and Sylvie romantic was not a huge mistake. It was very smart and very in-character.

Not because they love themselves. That’s just a very clever writer’s play on the Loki-Trope-words.

Because she’s the most not-him person that there is. He wants to be the center of attention. She wants to live a quiet life left alone. He wants to take thrones and rule. She wants to topple thrones and rulers. He wants to tyrannize and enslave. She wants to set whole realities free. He sets traps to defeat his most hated foes. She just runs up and stabs them. He never shuts up. She’s stoic and quiet.

To people who believe it’s weird or gross because “they share DNA” or “they’re siblings…” Yeah. They share the same DNA, clearly—just like the Alligator Loki! 🙄 And they share parents, clearly—oh, except they don’t, because Loki’s parents were the kind of people to hide his true origins from him, and Sylvie’s parents were as different from that as you can get. They don’t share DNA, they aren’t the same gender, they don’t share memories or a similar history, and they don’t even share a name. They’re not like the same person, and they’re not like siblings.

The places where they’re similar? Like Sylvie’s chip on her shoulder against those who’ve wronged her? They’re all the places Loki has grown out of, or is in the process of growing out of when he meets Sylvie—and she’s been hellbent on avenging herself against those who’ve wronged her for her whole life.

He’s in love with her because of the—say it with me—“Idea of Potential” that she represents.

It’s just like how Ariel is in love with Eric, even before she gets to know him, because all she needs to know is that his character traits match up with everything she’s always hoped humans could be like. All Loki needs to know about Sylvie is that her character traits match up with everything he’s always wished he could be:

Confident instead of pretending to be confident; heroic instead of pretending to be heroic; secure in who he is regardless of what people think of him; able to focus on something bigger than himself; etc. Loki’s never been able to be those things and even convinced himself he’s proud of pretending—but Sylvie genuinely is all those things.

And Sylvie? Since she was stolen from her home and family she has made no connections, had nobody care about her, and focused only on her mission. If she ever had dreams outside of that, it probably revolved around the idea of freedom. Then in comes this guy who not only expresses care for her, but is the type of guy who doesn’t let anybody tell him what he is or what to do—he can relate to her feelings of hurt, and eventually, tries to help her grow beyond them, too.

They both represent something that the other person has always wanted to do or be, and they both challenge each other, and they both have this big existential hole in their hearts of “nobody wants me or likes me” to relate to each other with.

How is this a mistake? It’s literally the smartest way they’ve ever had Loki make a connection with someone outside his adopted family. (Mobius is cool and all but he’s a Thor-stand-in for this Loki, who’s been ripped out of Thor’s timeline.)

I’m going to stop beating the dead horse, but basically, if you think Loki and Sylvie as a romantic couple is weird, try and look at it the way it actually is, instead of superimposing “female love interest bad” or catchy Internet memes like “Loki Show Approves Incest” over everything 🙄

Random fic idea hit me like a train.

Context I've had this idea about the redeemed lords au "gotta get back to school" has and also another fic they made where Tim became a prophet/favorite human and combined the two in my head.

The context is after an accident Tim severed something in his leg, or... Wiggly trying to do something "nice' after removing the pain from that leg accidentally left the leg dead. All the nerves are dead and Tim can't use his leg up to his thigh anymore. Wiggly realizes he's building a prophet instead of grabbing an adult like he always had, instead something similar to how Webby is with Hannah.

Also Grace has been scaring him from a really young age about God since she babysits him all the time. He's not scared of God. He's scared of her and her father getting him and his dad kicked out of their church. Wiggly of course thinks all of that is stupid and encourages him to do whatever he wants because it's more entertaining.

And this is the second time Tim got kidnapped, and this time people are trying to kill the LiB and anyone associated with them. Like Tim.

Match Review: Middlesborough U21s 3-2 Manchester United U21s

Another defeat for United in PL2, this time away to Boro in a close affair that saw the Red Devils rue their inability to hold possession and throw away a two-goal lead.

United took the lead mid first half with some good play from McNeill, Wheatley and Missin then finishing the move, and then forced an own goal just before half time to double the lead. A poor back pass from Curley put Boro in and left keeper Elyh Harrison with no chance at keeping a clean sheet.

The second half further exposed United's flaws, with the unorthodox defensive lineup - featuring veteran Tom Huddlestone - completely out of sync and out of position. This put Boro in and allowed Sonny Finch to bag his second and even up the tie.

A counter from Middlesborough's Ajay Matthews handed the home side the win, with a slight deflection off the United defender to just tickle it over Harrison's head and outstretched hands, but a top finish altogether. Some might argue that United deserved a point, but missed chances up front, poor organisation at the back... it inevitably gets punished.

Middlesborough were just 1 point ahead of United at kick off, and had played one game more, so the away trip was a good chance for United to pull themselves out of this bloated middle pack of teams including Wolves, Reading, Sunderland, Norwich, and Palace.

In fairness to United's kids, plenty of prospects are out on loan, and there's always home advantage, plus Ashton Missin - usually RW - was at RB, Harry Amass - usually LB - was LW, and Charlie McNeill found himself back in the side after his loan spell at Stevenage was cut short due to a lack of game time.

Disruption, changes, and routine all affect cohesion, and while most of these kids came through the ranks together, the slight margins are what see games like this go sour.

So I went to C2E2 awhile ago and it got me nostalgic for a convention I wasn’t able to attend cause I was a child. I’m of corse talking about DASHCON ! Taking place during the golden age of fandom culture that side of the 2000s It was terribly disappointing and scammed a bunch of people and not what it was hyped up to be. But what if we were to do it over again the way it was supposed to be but bigger and better? The theme can be TUMBLR UNIVERSITY

- Your hotel room is your dorm

- You can get tumblr university uniforms and merch or VIP swag (A little pricey but good enough quality)

- you can get a student ID picture taken! (Pay the price to laminate it right there or pay a smaller fee to have the Picture and or ID emailed to you)

- HAVE A GIANT BALLPIT

- Fanartist and Regular artists in artist alley

- The map of the con and the schedule can be layed out like a school map and schedule

10am : LARP Battle on the quad

11am: TOH Club meetup

Idk if you should be able to pick what you want to do first before you go like a real school so like that it’s a pre planed sort of but probably just keeping it normal like c2e2 would be fine too

Weather we like it or not Harry Potter is a staple of fandom culture. So I was thinking having a PARODY of the sorting hat. It will be a funny puppet that will sort you into your tumblr houses “I don’t want to get sued so you’ll be sorted into Fugglepuff” and the participants can have special merch to represent their house lol

Okay we all know that Celebrities have no business being in the depths of fandom but there are some celebrities that actually embrace their fandom and are active members with the fans. However I’m only saying this because I’m thinking of the fans and celebrities when I say there should be no meet and greets. I know I Know! Cons are a chance to meet your favorite celebrity but I know what cramming a full fun day of a con experience is like when you can only go one day. It’s all you can afford or all you have time for. Plus celebrities are expensive, even just inviting them is a lot then there is accommodations and security and green rooms oof. Just for them to sit at a table all day from morning to evening doing nothing not fun for them. Then the fans spend all day waiting in line missing out on the other experiences and they paid a lot for the meet and greet only to be told they are on break come back later and blah blah blah 😒 meet and greets are nice but not a high priority and not very fun if your only going one day.

The compromise is maybe just inviting them and they can just show up free for fun. (It could happen maybe lol) or we could pay 4 ONLY 4 celebrities to be “Teachers” and they teach a class and the papers you turn in are “Graded” by them but really it’s a signed autograph ✍️

Still the same what we would pay for a meet and greet but the interactive experience is much more fun and worth it for both parties 🤩 it could give even celebrities who are actually passionate about a subject a chance to give a small lecture about it. Or if they don’t know much about math or something then they can just have fun with the role of being a teacher like improv theater they don’t have to be professional who’s gonna criticize their lesson plan? They could be the fun substitute teacher types.

And for us how many times have we fantasized or wished that Tom Huddleston would be our theater teacher, or Pedro Pascal teaching science or turning in an essay to Neil gaimen? Each session would be 30 min (THIS IS NOT A Q&A it’s basically role play NOT LIKE That) throughout the day so everyone can get a turn and in between classes they go to the “Teachers lounge” for a break frequently. And it can even be streamed at home so that people from him can attend class. 🥹 (Paywall or no paywall is the question. Probably paywall because the people in person also have to pay)

Ned Huddleston (1849 - October 3, 1900) Isom Dart, born enslaved in Arkansas and known as Ned Huddleston, gained a reputation as a late 19th-century Wyoming Territory outlaw. He had many aliases including “Black Fox,” “Tan Mex,” and “Calico Cowboy”.

The Blu-Ray Project: The Avengers

My wife and I are watching every movie we own in alphabetical order, and someday we may finish the A section. Maybe. See our progress here.

I really enjoyed this movie when it came out, and I think it still holds up. The pacing is good, the intros to the characters are concise but quickly build an idea of who they are and how they’re going to clash, and the quippiness still feels human. Loki is of course fun as an antagonist though I’ll be honest, most of the conflict was just trying to get the team to work together and he felt like a bit of an afterthought. Tom Huddleston really does such a great job letting glimpses of how lost and lonely Loki is slip through, though, which I enjoy.

I feel like at this point in the MCU the number of heroes was still small enough they each got enough time for the interactions amongst themselves (especially the various scenes that were one in one) to feel unique and interesting; my memory of the subsequent Avengers movies is that that becomes less and less the case, but we’ll see how I feel seeing them all back to back.

Watching anything with Captain America does make me very aware of how much “Steve adjusts to waking up” and Stucky fanfic I have consumed as it makes me want so many layers to exist that just aren’t in the movies. To the fanfic writers, thank you for your service.

Match Review: Manchester United U21s 4-2 Norwich City U21s

What's the Mather with you?

Sam Mather, pictured above, led United to glory at home to Norwich as the youngster bagged all four goals to give United a deserved three points.

Mather converted a lofted cross from Scanlon near the back post to get things started, before adding a second with a beautiful free kick from 30 yards out - nestled into the top right corner.

Scanlon played assist maker again, cutting in and shooting in a manner Antony could only dream of, before Mather poked home the rebound to secure his hat-trick.

Norwich ended the half with something of a consolation goal, finding success down United's right flank and managing to get the ball in to striker Ken Aboh's feet before he hit hard and low past Mee.

The second half was a more resigned, stagnant affair with both sides dropping intensity, but the game woke back up with Mather's fourth; a lovely pass across the box to the unmarked forward. Mather brought it forward back towards the Norwich defence before curling his shot off the inside right post to make it 4-1.

A mix-up between keeper Mee and player/coach Tom Huddlestone led to a goalmouth scramble and a 2nd goal for Norwich, knocked in by Aidan Manning, but that fluke was the last flashpoint of the half as the game fell back into the same early half rhythms and finished 4-2.

In what was a very even game based on possession, shots, fouls, passing accuracy, United came out on top and are now 10th in the U21 league. United have 17 points now and a +12 goal difference, leaping Norwich City, Chelsea and Sunderland each by just one point.
