one of the posts on this website that haunts me is the one that claims neurotypicals instinctively know to read faster by reading the first and last paragraphs of an article and then skimming it if confused. I can't even begin to understand how someone would form such a bizarre belief.

gotta stop checking tumblr before I have caffeine because all my principles fly out the window and i feel like i'm gonna start being an obnoxious asshole when i see people citing events in their book posts that literally did not happen :SOB:

#like it's not that deep and i will keep scrolling #but omg like are they doing it on purpose? Eleventh Doctor Chronicles: Sins of the Flesh is really good. Really really good. Experience with certain attitudes can be so isolating, surrounded by people who won’t bother to understand the impact of growing up in that environment (because the world's so progressive now, right), and so — I'm so glad it exists. I also liked the discussion in the interview commentary about how being a monster and doing monstrous things are not mutually exclusive. Like most things, homophobia is pervasive because it is structural. Religious fervor is not inherently bad — “your god is love,” Valarie says to Lily — but as soon as hellfire is brandished around, it's used routinely to empower monstrous things, in a way that becomes unsafe to debate. Especially for young & dependent people who can't escape it.

Conditional love. Moral panics. Purity culture. Self-hate. Mob mentality. This audio. It's timely.

I appreciated what they said in the interviews about not only about the research, but the four rounds of sensitivity readings. I wish the TV show had that level of care sometimes…

Hey we made it through 2022!

This year sure had some real lows for me but I think it’s also the year of new beginnings. It makes me really happy to see Les Normaux turn up again by the end of the year. Feels like reuniting with an old friend 💚

Also it might not show so much in the summary itself but I experimented a lot and I think I definitely improved quite a bit!

Lotus is sitting nervously in her living room, fidgeting with her hands as she waits for her mother, Eve, to arrive. She knows that Eve can be unpredictable and inconsistent, and the news she's about to share could trigger her mother's past addiction issues and emotional instability.

When Eve finally arrives, she greets Lotus with a cold stare. Lotus takes a deep breath and nervously blurts out, "Mom, I'm pregnant." Eve's expression immediately turns from cold to furious, and she starts yelling at Lotus, accusing her of being irresponsible and making a mistake.

As Eve continues to berate Lotus, Sami walks in the door and immediately senses the tension in the room. He asks what's going on, and Eve turns her attention to him, accusing him of taking advantage of Lotus and impregnating her for his own selfish reasons. Sami tries to defend himself, but Eve is too enraged to listen.

Finally, Sami has had enough and tells Eve to leave their home. Eve responds by saying, "See, it's already starting. He's pushing your momma out. After you have that baby, you're next." Lotus breaks down in tears as Eve storms out of the house.

I know Quackity said "Don't stress if you can't watch every single POV and if you don't know all the lore" and all that, but it genuinely frustrates me so much that I cannot, realistically, know every single detail of the QSMP storyline. Even trying to just focus on the "main" story isn't possible since so many people are doing things tied to it, and so many unexpected things happen.

I don't really have a point to make with this post, I'm just venting my frustrations. I like knowing complete stories and knowing I can't do that with QSMP frustrates me so much.

#i talk #qsmp talk #I also dont like that it takes 4+ hours to get 30m worth of the story #I'm realizing more and more that I'm just not cut out for long-form SMP storytelling through streaming #I've been under a lot of stress lately and I was watching stream to kinda take my mind off things #and realizing I've missed so much just kinda pushed that frustration over the edge a bit #I'm not actually a huge fan of the twitter updates and the ''summary of today'' thing the update accounts do #it's not that it's not helpful— it just doesnt mesh with my ability to absorb info #by which I mean reading twitter threads to catch up on lore makes me feel like I'm dying #I like the lore recap video they posted recently and I'd love to see more of that #especially since it's short and easy to digest #but it still leaves a lot out #idk like I said there's no real point to this post I'm just very frustrated #both in general and in terms of story consumption #(for the record: this is just a me problem and I'm not about to start demanding the server change or anything)#I just need to start consuming more short contained stories I think #just a bit stuck on QSMP because the dtory is really interesting to me #I also think I need to drop the archive it eats up too much time and energy #as helpful as it is for my own records and others' its just not realistic #especially with all the new people who are being added #a few of whom I just straight up dont plan on watching
