Hello! First of all, thanks for hosting the awards ❤️
I think I read somewhere in your blog that you take suggestions. I imagine it is a lot of work to make this even happens, but I do have a suggestion. I know some categories are separated by ship and that’s really good, which brings me to my point: complete separation between ships for all categories. Some corners have more active participants than others, and in those categories where you get different ships in the options, it can get a bit [how to put it…] messy because the ship with more active participants will definitely get votes (and sometimes, not always, of course, there’s those that vote X ship to make sure Y doesn’t win).
Thank you and hope you guys have a happy new year.
Hello there!
Thank you so much for such a kind ask! We appreciate the thoughtfulness! So, this has been a suggestion/question/ask practically since FC's inception. People want to see their ships represented and acknowledge those creators just as much as the larger ships that often overshadow those smaller circles. That's completely understandable and totally fair!
However, breaking down each category into different ships is near impossible right now. In order to be able to host that, we would need far more participation than we currently have. Otherwise, for example, we would have 3 fics competing for Best Action/Adventure InuKag Fanfic versus 1 fic competing for Best Action/Adventure MirSan Fanfic. Can you see where that issue lies? We're not sure if we would ever be able to reach participation levels to give us the ability to do that. However, we also realize the community's desire to have ships represented fairly. So the mod-team has come up with an idea that may be able to give the community just that. On a trial basis, we could host a miniature term, separate from the 3 terms we are currently hosting per year. This term would be exclusively for those who want to indulge in shipping works. Here's a break down of how this would work:
This term would be shorter, with only 1 week for nominations, 2 weeks to enjoy the works, and 1 week for voting. This will help the mod-team garner how much interest/participation it receives, as well as help from overloading the mod-team with the tasks that come with hosting a full term.
All of the same FC rules would still apply that are currently in place. The exception is that we would lift the Winner Ban, so those works would be eligible just for this "Shipping Term". That rule is subject to change pending feedback and interest.
The categories would be simple: The Best of InuKag Fanfiction, The Best of KogKag Fanart, The Best of InuParents Fanfiction, etc. Ships can be added or changed pending on the interest check form.
We would have categories for both fanfiction and fanart to match up with shipping.
If this is not received well, then the mods will simply go back to the drawing board, as well as continue to take suggestions. If there is enough interest, then we will move forward with attempting this Shipping Term as a one-time thing with a date TBD. Depending on how it goes, it could become a more permanent occurrence in the future.
FeudalConnection was created for the community, and we want to abide by what the community wants as much as we can. We hope this will help in that endeavor.
You can find the link to the Interest Check Here.
As always, we welcome your feedback and will continue to do our best to bring love to the creators of this fandom.

I am probably asking the impossible but I've tried looking for a very long with no luck. Inuyasha and Kagome go to one of those street festivals, Kagome in yukata, they watch the fireworks together, I'm pretty sure they play that fan fish game. The only other thing I can say is that story was old, like mid 2000's old on probably fanfic.net - it was one of the first fanfics I read and I didn't get to finish it and I didn't save the name and it's been lost to time. Y'all do great work so I figured I'd ask, I won't be disappointed if you can't find it though. Thanks!
Hello Nonnie,
Since we recently created a Japanese Holiday list we were able to quickly pull some festival fic one-shots we know off the top of our heads that include fireworks. If none of them are correct, please reach out to a fic finder off anon so we can get some more details such as setting (canon/post-canon/AU), length (one-shot/multi-chap), and rating (SFW/NSFW) that will speed up the search and help us be more confident in finding the fic you're after!
Stardust by Fenikkusuken (M)
OneShot. A warm summer night, a girl and a hanyou wearing flimsy yukata... it must be the Tanabata Festival! Rated for mature content.
Fireworks by XamemegamiX (K+)
A little late and I am sorry, but here is a special 4th of July story for ya! What happens when Kagome takes Inuyasha to her city's festival and he sees fireworks for the first time?
Tanabata Matsuri by DarkBlaze14 (K+)
It's the night of the Star Festival in the feudal era, and Kagome is all smiles until an old name comes up. Fluffy Inukag oneshot. (Set after the conclusion of the Final Act.)

Hello, so I'm not heterosexual (I'm ace) and as you can tell I do like one of those ships in the poll. I thought your language was very harmful. Now, I'm not here to say those characters are nice people but that doesn't mean their fans like them because they are "hetero" and just like a hot guy. They are good characters and had cool dynamics with Kagome (yes that's subjective and you might disagree with it but some people did enjoy it). I do agree that Sango should have been on the poll but there are legit reasons people enjoy darker ships or enemies to lovers trope, they can be engaging to some. So to dismiss it as just "hetero girls liking a hot guy" is very bad. The reason I'm sending you this ask is because I think you are a good person and might recieve well my comment. I considered sending an anon but I wanted you to "see" me as we talk and I hope I don't get any harassment over this from others. Anyway, thank you for reading.
First of all thank you for sending this message non-anonymously! I know it can be stressful but it is definitely better for discussions. If I see anyone sending you hate over this I will fight them personally.
When I said “this fandom is painfully straight” I did not mean “every single person who likes these ships is straight”, that would be ridiculous. But it IS a straight ship. My point is that gay ships are almost never taken seriously in this fandom, as shown by the fact that people ship Kagome with all the male characters she canonically doesn’t like before shipping her with girls that she actually likes. I find that sad. Literally the only gay ship in this fandom that has a sizable fanbase is Inu/sess, but that’s another can of worms.
I’m not here to change anyone’s mind about sess/kag or kog/kag, I’m very much a ‘ship and let ship’ person. Those ships have existed for years so I know very well that me saying “Kagome Higurashi would never canonically love these guys” is not going to change anyone’s mind. So I’ll spare you the whole rant but I’ll say that I’ve read some sess/kag stuff (Raindrops and other fanfics I found years ago) and I’ve never seen Sesshomaru portrayed as anything other than a kind, suave, gentleman who saves Kagome from Inuyasha the toxic, two timer. His canonical racism and lack of empathy for others is gone. So I have a hard time believing people when they tell me they love the ship because it’s a “sexy villain/heroine, enemies to lovers ships” lol. Anyway like I said, I’m not going to change your mind and you won’t change mine, so no need to argue about this.
Also for added context regarding the “gay ships aren’t taken seriously” issue, a couple weeks ago a bunch of people on Twitter (inukag shippers) made tweets saying they were “disgusted” by the fact that many people headcanon Moroha to be a lesbian. That her blushing at and complimenting girls is “not evidence that she’s gay” and that the “real canon” is that she will end up with Koga’s son (who doesn’t even exists in any Inuyasha media!!!). It’s not an isolated issue with Sesshomaru or Koga fans, as I pointed out the people doing this were inukag shippers and they were called out by other inukag shippers. This fandom as a whole is just not the most friendly when it comes to lgbt+ stuff.
So yeah, I have nothing else to add. I don’t see how my language was harmful if I’m being honest. Regardless of people’s own sexual/romantic orientations this fandom mostly talk about and support straight ships. This isn’t really a call to action either, I’m not telling people what to ship, I was just jokingly pointing that out and hoping that next time people would just consider the fact that gay ships exists as well.
Thanks again for the message and I’ll take this time to remind everyone following me that I use the tag #<ship/character>-critical tag when I criticize stuff, so you can blacklist that if you follow me and don’t want to see negativity about characters or ships that you love. I didn’t tag my first reblog of the poll so that’s my bad, I’ll go back and fix that.

Do you think Moroha is annoying? To me she is. She is too noisy and annoying. She's too much like Kagome and barley has any traits of her father. She only got the hair and red kimono. Thats it. Personality wise......100% Kagome.. To me she's only like Inuyasha because of her alibies which is just a complete copy of his. Plus her beniyasha form. Its a shame cause at the time when the so called "squeal" was announced, I actually got pretty excited even know I hated seeing the devil spawn of Kagome (I 100% hate Kagome) and I was very disappointed when it came out. I know most fans says the manga is better. I seen some pictures of it. But I dont want to waste my time reading it and get disappointed again like how I was with the series. But what what do you think of Moroha? I love your blog by the way! I love Kikyo so much! It really breaks my heart that to this day that the fandom still says she's the "worst character in the series" She deserves o much more!
I haven't seen much of the show, but from what I've seen, yes, Moroha very irritating to me. In the 1st episode of YashaHime, her voice was irritating to me,I didn't watch much… I watched until she left her daughter and stayed with Inuyasha, both absorbed into some pearl I dropped series. Moroha has a lot Kagome's traits... But I feel sorry for her.
Anon.. the manga is better because it contains Inu//Kag that's why it's better and I'm giving you this conclusion from my observation when the inukags complained and then "manga is better" because I've seen many moments with inu//kag… that's why. .. Hmm… that's how I see it. Personally, I haven't read a single chapter of this "work" for me, it's a stupid fanfic not worth my time.
And so, if Rumiko wanted to.. she would give them a child, or show that in the months that have passed since the events, Kagom is pregnant, but she was not pregnant and Rumiko did not give them a child. It's just a very low-level fanfic for people to extract money from the fans. Fanfic must sell well.
"I hated seeing the devil spawn of Kagome"
That's really strong anon, and I smiled. Well. It's not Moroh's fault she has such a mother. I heard she treated Moroha badly the first time they met after all these years or something, so I feel a bit sorry for her because it's not her fault she has this devil mother who thinks of a man more than a her baby.
Yes, I think Kagome is a terrible mother, not because I hate her, but because she chose Inuyasha over her own child. She preferred to leave the baby and go with Inuyasha. She gave her daughter away just like that and went with Inuyasha. I can't understand it.
I think she should be pitied because instead of staying with her daughter, Kagome chose a husband and orphaned her own daughter. This is something I don't understand and there is no explanation for it. But on the other hand, Sunrise showed her as the mother I imagined, jealous, choosing a husband over her own child.
I can't fully judge Moroha, because I don't know her well. In short, I see her as annoying, but I also feel sorry for her because her mother chose a man over her daughter.
I'm glad there are more people who hate Kagome <3 and thank you!! I am glad that you like my blog. It's a sad reality anon.. Kikyou will be hated forever…. it's sad.

Hi! So I just recently discovered the Inuaysha fandom here on Tumblr and wanted to ask: What advice would you give to someone who wanted to create work for this event? I've never done anything like this before but I've read so many fanfics on AO3 recently that I'm inspired and saw that this event would be coming up soon! (Along with something almost every month).
Sorry, I'm rambling.
Hello!
No need to apologize! For the event, we would recommend you post your work both on Tumblr and on AO3 (and on other platforms if you have any). That's what people usually do for the event! You can see some examples by going through our #fanfiction tag.
Depending on how inspired you are by the prompts and how much time you have, you could write a short story for each prompts that you like. Or you could plan a larger story and have each chapter correlate with the prompts of the event. It's completely up to you! Inukag week is meant to celebrate inukag, we set up the prompts to inspire people so they can create new pieces, but if you want to ignore them and just post a inukag story that's also completely fine.
If you tag us using @inukag-week in the body of your post, it will be easy for us to find it and reblog it on our blog. You can also add tags to your post here and on AO3 so that more people can find it (like #inuyasha, #inukag, #inukag week etc). Inukag week and fandom events in general are usually great for newcomers who want more visibility for their work!
I hope that answers your question and do not hesitate to message us again if you have more questions.

Hi! 😊 For the ask game: 🍓🥤❄️🌸
Hi @briefphilosophernight!
🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?
Oh god it was probably back in high school, I think? Somewhere around 2002-2003 cause I hadn't graduated, but I was reading a lot of fic at the time and thought "I don't see why I can't try". The very first one I ever wrote (it was LotR) was based around part of a dream I had, and I turned it into a oneshot (something I fail to do anymore). There was always plans for a second oneshot to follow it but the inspiration didn't hang around.
🥤 ⇢ recommend an author or fanfic you love
There's this Gundam Wing fic that I keep thinking about doing a reread of. (I know it's not IY but I'm so behind on IY reading I'm scared half my tbr list is deleted...)
Deprogramming by Scarlet Eve (FFN)
[Complete] Tucked away in old files, Heero discovers something about himself that Dr. J tried to hide, but made Heero who he was during the wars. But once the secret is discovered, already volatile world relations become worse, putting strain on the ESUN and those involved. Heero must stop it before the peace and structure Relena worked to create comes crumbling down.
There's one particular scene with Heero by himself that sticks out the most to me. It's kinda dark if you really think about it, but it works so well for his character. And I've never been for or against Trowa but he had me raging at my kindle when I first read it. Like I get why he was making those choices, but dude.
❄️ ⇢ what's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?
You know...I don't know? I guess the first one that comes to mind would be the enemies to lovers plot in Break Me, because InuKag are barely going to be civil when they first meet. They've both got a lot to work through, and when things start to turn it's going to be very satisfying...until it isn't. As for who would write it best, I have no idea, cause there's always something about it someone else would change. Inuyasha would be human (and that's frowned upon apparently), he wouldn't be the shy boy like in canon but a cockly billionaire that wears women on his arm like watches. Kagome's not much better; she's really gonna be a bitch, but she's got good reason. Money has made her spoiled but she's dealing with a lot of hurt. This was a fic that was supposed to have been cowritten but now it basically sits in my wips folder until waves of the mood to add to it strike me. So I don't know of who would write it best that's not the person I'd have been writing it with.
🌸 ⇢ do you have any pets? if you do, post some pictures of them
I answered this one here with the pics of Gidgit and Louie 💜

Hi! I love following your meta and detailed analyses and I swear you had one somewhere about the actual chapters/instances that had InuKik in the manga as compared to the anime but I can't find it :( Did I imagine it? (Why I'm asking is I'm writing one of my fics IWFA and I had someone ask me why I write InuKik the way I do and I was about to say cuz in the manga they give off the impression of being distant like that. Then I second guessed myself and wanted to reread the parts... anyway I blab.
Hi! Thank you so much! This means a lot because I do love writing meta. Unfortunatelly, I don't think I made the post you're looking for.
I'm still in the process of reading the manga and even though I use a panel here and there to make my points across, I refrain from going into deep, side by side comparisons because I feel like smarter people than me have already done it to exhaustion. And with a level of coherence I can only dream to achieve.
One of these people is definitely @inukag so maybe you'll have more luck asking her? If Cynthia didn't wrote it, she's still your best shot at figuring out who did.
And for whatever is worth, I think your interpretation of manga Inukik is actually pretty spot on. In fact, I'd go even further and say that anime Inukik was almost just as distant. The difference is that at least Sunrise tried to give them some substance, which in my opinion didn't work at all, since it butchered their characterization (Inuyasha's especially) by omitting very important scenes and adding meaningless fillers that in my opinion only made more obvious how superficial their relationship really was.
To me, love is something you build and trust is the foundation in which you're building on. To trust — and consequently to truly love — takes time. On top of that, a strong relationship requires efffort, honesty and fully acceptance from both parts, none of which I believe Takahashi or Sunrise showed us.
Boat dates under the sunset and passionate kisses are just bells and whistles. Yes, it looks great on screen, but it doesn't necessarily equal to real love. Infatuation, sure. But love? It's easy to make you characters go on boat dates under the sunset. It's easy to make them kiss passionately. It's even easier for the writers, for the audience and for characters themselves to confuse it for love.
What's hard is to actually take the time to create, develop, test and expand a romantic connection. To show how deep it runs instead of just telling. To make it unfold and progress and grow stronger before our eyes. To make it dynamic rather than stagnant. Inuyasha and Kikyo didn't have that at all, be it in the manga, be it in the anime.
Their relationship was based on mutual loneliness, on seeing each other through rose colered glasses and of the fundamentally wrong idealization of the life they thought they'd have together.
That being said, here's my unsolicited advice: if you're anything like me, I can totally understand why you'd feel the need to try and defend your point of view, especially if the person asked you to explain it in good faith.
However, even if your interpretation of the Inukik relationship was way off — which, again, I don't believe it is — remember that you don't owe anyone an explanation for your writing choices, but you do owe it to yourself to write what feels right. It's your story to tell and you can tell it any way you see fit.
I know our takes on this matter aren't particularly popular within the fandom, but they are just as valid. I lost count of how many Inukag fanfics I've read where Inukik was written to be a much bigger thing than I personally believe it originally was, but even though I disagree with that interpretation, I'm also not entitled to an explanation other than... that's the author's vision. And that's okay.
The important thing was that people had fun and were proud of what they wrote. As they should, because it takes courage to post your stories online. And if I'm bothered by an specific story to the point of not being able to enjoy it, that's my problem and I should probably search for something closer to my own interests to read.
Anyway... I can't wait to read If We Fall Anyway. It has been on my to read list for a while now and I'm sure I'll love it.

🥺 ✨🦅
first of all, thank you for indulging me! <3
🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?
I never, ever get tired of Inuyasha fawning over Kagome. It's very sparse in the original series; you only get hints from the things he says/does. The staring? Touching her at every available opportunity? That tells me he does it all in his head, and so I always get a kick out of having him wax poetic about his dearest miko. Second favorite would have to be inukag being fluffy and intimate unwittingly. See: these two are on top of each other all the dang time.
✨ Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it. 😉
AHHHHH well. I am a very harsh critic concerning my own writing, which is why I am slow to update. I guess that's a blessing and a curse. I try to picture everything from all angles and it takes me a while to feel satisfied with what I've accomplished, which almost always makes the piece longer. That being said, I do like that when I am writing a story, it ends up being lengthy, which is what I prefer in a fanfic. There are many virtues to drabbles, I write them a lot too, but there is something so cozy about tucking in and reading a longfic. (there are many long wips in my docs folder, whew.)
🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?
It's a little bit of both. Ache, my THG AU, has gone through 3 different outlines (the one I'm at now is here to stay), and at some points, I was flying blind. Both methods work for me. I don't outline in great detail, I just try to write down story beats I want to get to and work from them. The freedom that a loose structure provides seems to be the sweet spot for me!

*Hank Hill voice* Dammit @ruddcatha !! 😂
Thanks for the asks, @elkonigin 💕💖💕
H: How would you describe your style?
My style is "indefinite hiatus."
(I only speak the truth.) Other descriptors that come to mind: sentimental, wordy, why are there so many em dashes do you need all these em dashes?
In all seriousness though, I don't know that I have a style??? "Writing style" sounds so sophisticated, like something a seasoned, skilled writer has; not someone like me who writes like I'm throwing handfuls of limp noodles at the wall and hoping to God some of it sticks. I dunno, I feel like writers might be the worst people to answer this question, y'know? Readers probably have a better grasp of a writer's style.
I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?
Fanfiction in general is my guilty pleasure reading, but more specifically: super shippy romantic trash, y'know? Give me all the ship-centric garbage. My fanfic reading (and writing) habits are 100% ship-motivated. That's not to say I don't enjoy a well-constructed plot, but if a well-constructed plot lacks any romantic subplot, it is highly unlikely that I'll read it. (I think we can learn from this that I'm moved to read fanfiction for any given series based on how compelling I find one of its ships.)
I once claimed that I was the Great Pacific Garbage Patch of InuKag trash, and I still stand by that.
V: If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
I assume by "if you could write the sequel," this questions means, "if you could snap your fingers and have it written." 😁 I'm going to mimic one of your answers and say that I'd kill for Sachi to be completed.
I'd also go feral for a sequel to Folktale. And a sequel to Speed Dating for Dummies (one where InuKag meet each other's families or something? ugh it'd be so GOOD).
W: Do you like more general prompts, or more specific ones?
Hmm, I'm chill with general prompts, but I find specific prompts more engaging in a way. Sometimes the strictures of a very specific prompt force me to be more creative than I would've been otherwise. I remember being given a prompt in college that was like "write a story using only one-syllable words," and even though that sounded absolutely bonkers to me, I ended up producing one of the best short stories I wrote in my time at college.

3 Ships: This is a tough one, because I don't end up shipping a ton of stuff, or at least things I feel compelled to go read fanfic for...
Obviously Sherlolly, seeing as it's been over 10 years and I'm still shipping those too, even writing for them sometimes.
TwiYor is next, although even then, I think it's the family dynamic I love about them most of all
The classic Elizabeth & Darcy should make the list too, I suppose, but then it does sort of feel like a copout. Maybe I'll add some more ships later as I think of them!
First Ever Ship: This would definitely be Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable. I remember when their first kiss happened on TV while I was in the 5th grade and I just kept rewatching that movie over and over again. Second place would be InuKag from Inuyasha, which really got me into fanciction I think back in middle school.
Last Song: Jolene by Dolly Parton (classic!)
Currently Reading: I just finished Mrs. England by Stacey Halls over the weekend (it was really good!), and I'll probably pick up one of my Kate Morton books this coming weekend.
Last Movie: Over the weekend I watched both The Wonder and Bullet Train. Two vastly different movies, but they were both enjoyable.
Currently Consuming: Water, but I'll go to lunch in a couple of hours and probably have some yogurt.
Currently Watching: I'm trying to be better about going through my Netflix list, so right now I've been watching that Harry and Meghan documentary. I normally don't really care about the royals, but it seemed interesting enough.
Currently Craving: I'm not sure. A burger and fries probably, because I think it's nearly that time of the month.
I tag: @simplyshelbs16xoxo, @empress-of-snark, @fairy-feather, and anyone else who'd like to do this!

Why does it seem like the inukag fanfic fandom is slowly dying out? 😭
You think so?? I see like, 5 new fanfics per day in the inukag tag here? Was there more than that before??
I mean, I think we lost some people because of Yashahime, and in general Tumblr is just not as active as it used to be due to censorship issues (the p*rn ban, blacklisted tags, blogs getting copyright strikes, etc), the like/reblog ratio, everything that's happening in the world and just people moving to different platforms... It will probably will never be as active as it was at its peak!
But the inukag fandom as been alive for a very long time. I mean, we have people who have been in the fandom for 20+ years, that's crazy! I don't think it's going to "die out" anytime soon. If you want more content you should also make sure to like/reblog fanfics here, and comment/kudos/favorite on other websites! I'm 100% guilty of not reblogging enough fanfics here but honestly it's because I want to reblog things I've actually read and I just rarely read fanfics nowadays (for various reasons). So yeah, if you want to continue getting new inukag fanfics encourage the writers and let them know how much you appreciate their work! They are doing this for free after all :)

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then (optionally!) pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love ♥️
Aww thank you so much @neutronstarchild ! ❤️ I'm a couple days late, but I finally got around to doing this!
Under the Northern Lights - Of course, this story will always be my #1. Anyone who's been following me for a while will know how much of myself I poured into this story. It pretty much possessed my entire soul for the year it took to write it, and I'll always be really proud of it!
Everything - This is the story of mine that I go back and reread most often, because it is (and always will be) my head canon of exactly how Inuyasha and Kagome's first time making love in the post canon world went. With nervousness, inexperience and imperfections (as in real life), but still overflowing with love and tenderness. I'm currently working on editing this to flow a little smoother/be more consistent with my current writing style (in addition to some upcoming new artwork!), so I will probably be posting about that soon 😁
The Lover's Tree - This little one shot will always have special meaning to me, because it is based on my favorite reading from my wedding ceremony, as well as the idea of enduring love. My husband and I have been together for 16 years (I was 13 when we first started dating), and got married after 10 years together, so the concept captured in this reading is something I adore and really wanted to explore with my favorite fictional couple. I can never get enough of domestic InuKag (especially as parents), so this was a way to show how their relationship evolved over time, from passionate newlyweds to comfortable partners in life.
Forever Changed - It's funny because I'm so torn about wanting to have children myself, but one of my absolute favorite things to read/write/imagine when it comes to InuKag is them becoming parents. Especially Inuyasha's feelings towards it. I just had this image in my head of a newborn Moroha grabbing onto his finger and changing his entire world forever that I wanted to try and put into words🥺. This is also the first fanfic I ever published, so it will always have a special place in my heart because of that. I do cringe a tiny bit rereading it now (only because of how much I've learned about writing/evolved my writing style) but I'll probably go back and edit it someday too.
Almost Lost - It was so hard to decide on the 5th one, but I ended up going with this one because it was a deep dive into the emotion that I felt was lacking in canon during the Band of Seven arc when Inuyasha loses Kagome and sheds tears for the first time. Of course we saw some of it, and I loveeee those chapters/episodes because of it, but I just felt like Inuyasha was really stretched to his limit (emotionally) during that arc, and that he would have wanted to have a talk like this with Kagome once she was "resurrected."
Thank you so much again! 🥰

As someone who is a full-time inukag shipper, I totally get where your coming from w/ the inukag scenes where Moroha just "accepts" her parents.
I think though that most inukag shippers are no longer watching YH (myself included), and that we have collectively decided to ignore the context behind the inukag scenes and just focus on those individual scenes as a whole. That's why we haven't really questioned why Moroha just goes w/ the flow, because:
1) we actually want to relish the few inukagmor crumbs we get even if it is a little pathetic
2) we take certain aspects about those scenes, like InuKag being loving parents and Moroha being a happy daughter, as actual canon because it fits with how we always imagined an inukag family to be in post-canon, even before YH.
And 3) we know Sunrise, especially Sumisawa, are not smart enough to write about a rational, emotional struggle as big as coming to terms w/ finding your birth parents and what that might realistically do to a person. We've accepted the fact that the writing is shit and that a realistic portrayal of such an emotional struggle is too good a concept to be written into such a shitshow like YH, so why make a fuss about it anymore?😪
That's just my theory at least. I know I'm taking InuKag being loving and doting parents, with Moroha being a happy daughter as one of the only actual canon things from YH.
I've seen some YH fanfics that dive into that particular struggle tho, if you ever wanna look them up on FF.Net or Ao3.
This is a response to this post. It's about how the show doesn't handle adoption/child abandonement well, and I used the example of how Inukag are going to handle this going forward and how the scenes feel really hollow to me as an adopted kid. I'm not trying to crack on Inukag shippers for liking it. Like what you like.
Anyway.
You realize that making a fuss over those scenes is sending the message that this show has an audience and it will keep going, right? Like you're allowed to do it, but don't pretend that it's ultimately not sending the message that you're ready to spend money.
I don't understand this. Fandoms scream and cry and beg for shows to be brought back. When they're brought back, the fandom usually hates it, except for a few parts which they get excited over (which I have a whole theory over how eventually you just run out of story to tell). Then they beg for more. And the cycle continues. Like read fanfic if you want to get that Inukag hit so badly. Like fandom prides itself on being very "Canon, who cares" and then as soon as the creators announce more is coming they turn into Oliver Twist. Is the validation that important to you?
It's like the live action thing. Everyone is out here getting so excited over the ATLA live action, but I'm dreading it, because when has there ever been an anime to live action that's good? Mulan, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Beauty and the Beast, THE LION KING, all were adaptations that were pretty freaking terrible, both in adapting their works and making a new story, but that hasn't stopped like 6 more being announced this past year and them bringing in billions of dollars and every time people are like "IT'S GOING TO BE GREAT!" So I don't get it.
Watch another damn show. Those sequels and live action adaptations are not about making you happy or bringing the fandom together. It's about making money.
I'm not trying to be an asshole but Jesus Christ sometimes I feel like I'm losing it watching this, because like, my favourite anime is FMAB, and everybody wants a sequel, and I don't. Because the ending was perfect. Why would you want to mess it up? It's way more fun for me to imagine what happened in my head or read a fanfic than pay someone to tell me what happened that will ultimately be treated as "more official" (which isn't a bad thing because I also believe that we should be respectful of original creators because they're fucking human and they're eventually going to run out of ideas and it's potentially going to be bad). All a sequel will do is disturb the tranquility and ruin whatever better ideas that the fandom came up with. (Because there is no way in hell they'd let Edward Elric, the Fullmetal Alchemist, be the house husband he was destined to be.)
Tumblr media
(LOOK AT THEM 😭)
Adds "talk about sequels" and "talk about adaptations" to list of video ideas because I have way too many opinions
(I don't doubt that Inukag would've been great parents. Y'all can fight me on that. But when I see comics about Ayame and Koga raising Moroha as "Aunt Ayame and Uncle Koga" (which is BS in itself, Koga and Ayame are her parents in that situation and I bitched about how much I hated Koga raising Moroha for 10 minutes in my video because I don't care what y'all say he wouldn't be a good parent to a quarter demon but ULTIMATELY HE IS HER DAD) and everybody going aweeeee that's exactly how it happened, like, you're treating it like it's canon. Stop pretending you're not. You're not ignoring the context.)
(I feel like an overinvested crazy person right now.)
