sorry if you've answered this before or in a faq, but do you think you'll ever allow self nominations? i can see only allowing 1-3 per person and of course no self-voting. i think you'd get more nominations and a bigger variety of creators that way.

That's a great question! However as stated in our FAQ, we will not be allowing self-nominations. The Guild Awards was created to show appreciation to others works. We love seeing people toot their own horns, whether on media platforms or within our Discord server, but we want to spread that appreciation as well.

There are so many incredible creators within the Fairy Tail fandom and while we understand the want to show off your creations yourself this isn't such an event.

The Guild Awards is first and foremost an event to show off others and as such, its hard to imagine people being unable to find a work they want to nominate, among such a wide range of diversity, and share with a broader audience of the fandom.

If you need help finding works to nominate, here are some suggestions:

AO3 has an incredible search function - it allows you to narrow down results to completed works, genres, relationships (platonic & romantic), & date updated.

@fairytail-redraw has great works from artists who participate in redraws. Feel free to browse their tumblrs as well to see what else they may have created.

@ft-reboost is filled with all kinds of creations to give a little bump to creators all over tumblr. Reboost also allows for self-boosting to bring more attention to works you have created that you feel need a bit more eyes on them.

@ftguildevents has a large range of different events that have taken place within the fandom. Majority of those events reblog the works to their pages, so peruse some of those to see if there are any works that catch your eye.

This fandom has so many fantastic people who create content for us, for free, and we want to make sure that they know we appreciate them. Without our artists, writers, and content creators, we wouldn't have much of a fandom. So let's show them how much their works mean to us, and help keep the fandom alive, one that we hold dear.

Hi! I’m sorry, but why can a work nominated for two different categories? And why can an author be nominated twice?

I’d heard that the awards were rigged, but didn’t believe it. Then i looked at the nominations list and the same people keep popping up. This is probably why it looks rigged. Maybe you should consider asking people who keep getting nominated to skip once a year or something.

I’m not going to bother nominating anyone because it’s obvious who’s going to win.

no wonder the IY fandom gets labeled toxic in general and not just because of shipping wars. I thought that was wrong, too.

Back when FC was just a baby, the mod-team put limits in place so that the nominations weren't flooded by the same creators or the same pieces. Having ten nominations for one piece wouldn't be fun, and wouldn't be inclusive. Thus, the limits were put into place so that no creator could have more than 4 nominations total per term. This has done well to keep nominations in check and allow other creators and pieces to be nominated. I'm sorry that you've heard such bad feedback regarding FC. The mod-team has done their absolute best to preserve FC's integrity, the nomination phase, the voting period, and those involved. We process each nomination to make sure it adheres to all requirements in place. The Inuyasha fandom is a wonderful community, filled with a plethora of creators who are constantly putting out content (for free!) for our little hearts to enjoy. We are so blessed by how creative this community is. Some creators put out more content than others, meaning they have more chances of being nominated. We never have and never will ask anyone to refuse a nomination. These creators work hard on their writing and art, and the only payment they receive is appreciation from the community they create for. These awards are just another way to give them that appreciation. As said in the past, the mod-team has no say who gets nominated or who wins except by the public rules in place. If you don't want to nominate, that's okay. We understand. Nominating lesser known creators so their piece receives more love and more of the spotlight is not for everyone. However, for those who do want to nominate, please: nominate those hole in the wall creations, the creators who only have one creation posted, the ones who are having a rough start to the year, the ones who need a little extra love, and everyone in between. As long as it adheres to the guidelines set, we wholeheartedly welcome all IY creators to be nominated! You want to see a wider net of creators? Nominate them! Nominate those who aren't on our list yet! We would love to see it! As stated in this post here, and in several others before, the awards have never been and will never be a popularity contest, nor will it be about "winning". It is simply about showing appreciation to the creators who keep this fandom thriving. As always, the mods are available to hear out concerns and listen to feedback. You are more than welcome to reach out to us independently, with a mod you feel comfortable with. And if you want to see for yourself how inclusive and wholesome our community is, we have an open discord that's available for anyone to join. We hope this quells your concerns. If not, we've done our best, and FC is not for everyone. Our team of moderators is still under development! We're expecting to likely gain a new member or two as the event progresses forward, which is why we didn't include anything on this aspect just yet. A formal moderator announcement will be coming down the line if we gain enough interest to move forward. That being said, our current moderators consist of: @ellionne, @sarcasticfoxy and @slrsunfire. In order to keep all our ducks in a row if you or anyone else have any future questions, we ask that all inquiries continue to be directed to the event account, rather than the moderators' personal ones.

Hello! First of all, thanks for hosting the awards ❤️

I think I read somewhere in your blog that you take suggestions. I imagine it is a lot of work to make this even happens, but I do have a suggestion. I know some categories are separated by ship and that’s really good, which brings me to my point: complete separation between ships for all categories. Some corners have more active participants than others, and in those categories where you get different ships in the options, it can get a bit [how to put it…] messy because the ship with more active participants will definitely get votes (and sometimes, not always, of course, there’s those that vote X ship to make sure Y doesn’t win).

Thank you so much for such a kind ask! We appreciate the thoughtfulness! So, this has been a suggestion/question/ask practically since FC's inception. People want to see their ships represented and acknowledge those creators just as much as the larger ships that often overshadow those smaller circles. That's completely understandable and totally fair!

However, breaking down each category into different ships is near impossible right now. In order to be able to host that, we would need far more participation than we currently have. Otherwise, for example, we would have 3 fics competing for Best Action/Adventure InuKag Fanfic versus 1 fic competing for Best Action/Adventure MirSan Fanfic. Can you see where that issue lies? We're not sure if we would ever be able to reach participation levels to give us the ability to do that. However, we also realize the community's desire to have ships represented fairly. So the mod-team has come up with an idea that may be able to give the community just that. On a trial basis, we could host a miniature term, separate from the 3 terms we are currently hosting per year. This term would be exclusively for those who want to indulge in shipping works. Here's a break down of how this would work:

This term would be shorter, with only 1 week for nominations, 2 weeks to enjoy the works, and 1 week for voting. This will help the mod-team garner how much interest/participation it receives, as well as help from overloading the mod-team with the tasks that come with hosting a full term.

All of the same FC rules would still apply that are currently in place. The exception is that we would lift the Winner Ban, so those works would be eligible just for this "Shipping Term". That rule is subject to change pending feedback and interest.

The categories would be simple: The Best of InuKag Fanfiction, The Best of KogKag Fanart, The Best of InuParents Fanfiction, etc. Ships can be added or changed pending on the interest check form.

We would have categories for both fanfiction and fanart to match up with shipping.

If this is not received well, then the mods will simply go back to the drawing board, as well as continue to take suggestions. If there is enough interest, then we will move forward with attempting this Shipping Term as a one-time thing with a date TBD. Depending on how it goes, it could become a more permanent occurrence in the future.

FeudalConnection was created for the community, and we want to abide by what the community wants as much as we can. We hope this will help in that endeavor.
