this kitchen fucking sucks. i have actual grievances but most fucking importantly the cabinets are in just the right position that i cant sit on the counter anywhere
#my genuine complaint is that there is. hold on wheres my tape measure#there is a gap of 75cm between one side of the kitchen and the other#or like between the counters anyway#if youre in front of the stove youre down another 20cm#but alas. this is the way it is. play the tiles im given and all that#original post placeholder tag#OH and the fucking ignition for the stove is broken so me and my lighter have been getting deliciously intimate with the gas

#finished with one out of two original pattern sheets#so progress#still terrified that I’ve distorted the pattern horribly in my questionable tiling and taping job#but it is what it is and I’ll be modifying the pattern for fit anyway#if nothing else it’s supposed to run long and I am short#my blather

Seeing Paul in his recreated costume has prompted me to get on with my NotD coat. I bought the fabric a couple of months ago but put it aside as the weather was too warm to wrestle with such a big project, and I’ve now got the pattern; I just need to get it printed and then I can start toile-ing. Not my favourite job, I admit, but as it’s a men’s pattern and they aren’t designed for people who are 5 foot 3 with extremely narrow shoulders I’ve got no choice. 🫤
I’m glad I didn’t start before the new pics emerged, as I can now see what the back looks like (even if it is in an unfinished state) and I’ve realised thanks to the others added by @know-it-all-freak that what I thought was a cuff actually appears to be trim on the sleeve, which will make my life much easier!
ETA: Just found a couple of mid-construction photos from tailor Steven Ricks’s Facebook (no, I’m not stalking the man on social media, I just went to look… shh.), which are probably only of interest to me so I’ll add them here:

woke up with a crack in my phone screen T^T phone fell off my nightstand face first ass up last night lol luckily it's very minor but I was on a solid 2 year streak no cracks after shattering all my phones in hilarious and stupid ways 😭 end of an era

Sometimes I feel I'm skill-less but then I look at my bedroom wall where a second door used to be, where we removed it and I realize how absolutely seamless it is. My fucking reno work is amazing. I can sling dry wall and plaster, I can paint entire rooms with out tape or drop cloth.
#The only thing I don't do is wiring and plumbing#Luckily my man does#We tag team every renovation job#I can install tile and refinish wood work and floors#I can tear down walls and build framing and get that drywall up taped and fucking plastered#I can cut in with a brush and get a room painted in hours

I clean the entire fucking kitchen but i get no appreciation from dad (who always moans about how messy it is) because i hadn't quite finished the washing up and dinner was ten minutes late to going in the oven.

#building a ‘headboard’ for my bed that id like to also double as a canopy. somehow#may end up having to put uo some other hooks near the foot of the bed but nbd#i originally was gonna do this faux molded tile wallpaper on the ceiling bc i sisnt wanna go thru the trouble of all the sanding it needed#but after doing a diagonal ‘ceiling’ piece in my closet which was not even very big. no longer do i want to do that#so ill probably just paint it the same color as my walls then do the thunderstorm ceiling thing over my bed#thatll help hide the hooks anyway#and itll look cool bc where the wall/ ceiling ‘meet’ is sloped anyway#its a quirky house.#and thats WITHOUT finding casette tapes in the wall and conspiracy theory boards

I am SO good at being a funcle. just made a fucking awesome obstacle course for my 4 year old nephew. after this we're gonna make brownies. we go to the library. I made him a sensory/iSpy board and a lil cardboard house with curtains to chill in. we talk about our feelings. get on my level.
