Quick reminder for anyone thinking banning tiktok is in any way good or harmless: ANY AND ALL CENSORSHIP IS BAD AND WILL BE ABUSED BEYOND ITS LIMITS. If one app is banned, then any app can be banned. If one argument can be made to take away a vehicle for information and change, then ANY argument can be made to take away a vehicle for information and change.

And make no fucking mistake, doing this during an election year is intentional. Not only will it greatly reduce the average person’s ability to see the reality of what’s happening in Palestine, but it will also reduce avenues of varied perspective that young voters need more of so that they know what they stand for and therefore who to vote for.

It will also force hundreds of thousands of Americans out of jobs during an economic crisis worse than the Great Depression.

I’ve already sent an email to my senators, and you can too if you look up “how to contact senators about tiktok ban” and find the ACLU link right at the top after the news results. It’s quick, easy, painless, and customizable. This is an issue we need to show up for, because these idiots are supposed to work for us, and they don’t want to lose their next reelection.

I might be wrong cos idk the US context so take this w a grain of salt... but despite scores of posts about it I fail to see the plan to ban tiktok as a bad thing 😅 it's already banned for employees/official devices by governments and international organisations across the world for compromising user data and um, literally being spyware.
