Shen Qingqiu: Some people are so beautiful that they are irresistible to both men and women... it's not gay to be attracted to them. There is literally nothing else you can do.

Xie Lian: You are so right. Or if you happen to have to kiss them to exchange spiritual energy, it doesn't mean you have feelings for one another.

Wei Wuxian: True. Also sometimes guy friends just need to get naked together and touch one another and make each other climax. Just normal friend stuff.

Shen Qingqiu: ....

Introducing the 2024 MXTX Food Zine!

The third edition of the MXTX Food Zine is out now in PDF and ready-to-print format! Inside, you’ll find 55 delicious recipes and over 70 new fanworks from all three MXTX fandoms, including art, fanfiction, and themed recipe cards. You can also download the front cover as a poster here.

I love how MXTX writes miscommunication/misunderstanding because it's not your typical miscom trope in where they only heard the bad parts of a convo, or where one of them is just really an extremely and irritatingly an overthinker. For example,

-Wei Wuxian misunderstands Wangji's intention to bring him back to Gusu because all his life he is loved by being useful, and if he is not being useful he is punished. He will never think that Lan Wangji loves him because he's never done anything useful for him. Lan Wangji misunderstood Wuxian's demonic cultivation because he never knew about the golden core transfer, and even then, he just wanted to protect him but he could never tell Wuxian that because he saw how his mother perished with the same promise of "love and protection"

-Luo Binghe just accepts that his Shizun hates him because he's a demon, yet what's confusing is that this Shizun told him that everyone is equal, be it demons or humans, so why is he especially despicable? Shen Qingqiu was just following the original novel in where Luo Bingge hates him, so that's how he interpreted all his actions. He is not aware that Luo Binghe's temperament was due to jealousy and heartbreak.

-Xie lian and Hua Cheng communicate very well. Even when they were pretending, even when the world is against their 'friendship', they knew each other's real intentions.

All of MXTX's protags are unreliable narrators, but in different ways

Shen Qingqiu is unreliable because he is unable to understand that the characters around him are people and see how much his actions have changed the plot

Wei Wuxian is unreliable because he has self worth issues and thinks the people who love him actually hate him

Xie Lian is unreliable because he is a cheeky motherfucker who purposely keeps information from the reader

I like to think about the white robed cultivators introducing their husbands (I know Shen Qingqiu wears green robes, but go with it). Xie Lian would be like, "this is my husband, he's a ghost king who searched for me for over eight hundred years and sacrificed himself three times for me, and all of heaven fears him" and there's Hua Cheng in the background, looking sexy and mysterious, probably sculpting a statue of Xie Lian because he's bored. Shen Qingqiu would then be like, "this is MY husband, he's half heavenly demon and emperor of the demon realm who almost ruled both realms but stopped because he only wanted me" and Luo Binghe is in the background, ominous and yet undeniably handsome as he cooks Shen Qingqiu some of the most delicious looking food ever. Then there's Lan Wangji. "Oh, this is my husband. He's a human cultivator who plays the flute so well that even the dead come back to listen to it" and it cuts to Wei Wuxian, who is clinging to a tree and screaming as a dog tries to bite his robes.
