Cumplane is definitely a toxic friendship in the books, they aren't as ride and die as the fandom makes them out, but most of us know that it's just our interpretation, what we wanted from them. At the end of the day, this is a story about bingqiu, and like so many other romance stories, background relationships aren't as strong as the main pairing. So when you see a more affectionate cumplane, it's sorta wish fulfillment. We don't get male friendships like that in media, and we have the beginnings of one in cumplane, so why not expand on it?

Also you shouldn't make people proclaim "this is not canon!!" every time they make a cumplane post or fic. And if someone says "cumplane is canon", then who are you to say they're wrong. One interpretation of a fic does not rule them all

Even if they're somehow friends.. definitely not the best ones. OK, it's possible that SY doesn't truly hate SQH, but he definitely hate his doings (also, the only thing SQH did to save the plot is trying to save LBH from the abyss and the mushroom body. But SY is definitely not happy about what SQH did to the mushroom body + even SQH in "sqh'a advice to lbh" extra wasn't really thinking good things about SY.. ( @willowwispflame headcanon is that bc SQH feels guilty and wants to avoid this feeling by thinking that he doesn't care about SY).

It's even easier to show your true self to someone you dislike because you're still yourself showing hate you feel. And we can see that SY & LQG friendship exists normally. But SY & SQH don't even care about what happened in another one's life. In one extra when there was peak lord meeting SQH was injured physically in his face, but SY doesn't even cared about that. Also, I'm not sure, but most likely after maigu SY really kicked SQH butt badly. Before that, SY specifically brought SQH to fight. Yeah,he saved him later, but I think it's bc of "I don't want to kill him" and it doesn't mean they're friends. They barely interacted except screen time (SQH asked SY to make artifact and mushroom body things). There is no initiation to meet each other.

And I don't like that in fanfiction, they are misinterpreted without mentioning that it's not canon, and in this au, they're friends (still OK, bc it's fanfiction, but saying it's canon.. nuh uh guys)
