There is something off about Camilla's version of the sapphire tiara. There is some brown fabric behind it that makes it is distracting and messy. Is that the base because it looks crooked and not symmetrical to the tiara. I get that the base needs something to connect to the hair but why such a dark colour? It wasn't the queens as she had been grey for decades and we know that some of her tiaras had a silver/white base.

I really love Queen Camilla in the sapphires and I'm actually liking the tiara more on her than I did on QEII but there is something weird going on behind the tiara. She also shortened the necklace the first time she wore it but then had it lengthened and added the pendant last night. I love that she's already showing a willingness to change around the late Queen's jewelry although I wish she'd worn the matching earrings instead of these modern ones. QEII had the necklace shorted by four sapphire clusters and the largest was turned into the pendant back in the 50s so there's a few more in the vault to play around with.

It looks to me like the hair is fluffed up behind the tiara and part of what we're seeing is a shadow. In the middle picture from the car last night I don't see the big shadow on the left like I do in the bottom picture from inside the event or the top picture from the state banquet last week so I'm wondering if it's something that's not noticeable in person but is visible in pictures because of the flash.

Then there's what looks like a brown pipe cleaner on the right that is not the base of the tiara which is lighter. I'm not really sure what's going on there. @royal-hair any ideas? I think her hairdresser is just doing the same thing they've always done but this tiara is so much more open than her others so we're seeing how the tiara is attached for the first time. Queen Camilla has always had great tiara hair in the past and is capable of pulling off really big ones so I'm confident that this is just a blip as she's getting used to new tiaras.

Hi! What do you think of how the writers of GG handled Blair's bulimia? It always bugged me that they seemed to bring it up when it was convenient for the episode and ignored it the rest of the time instead of treating it as a mental health issue that can't just be forgotten when its not suitable. Do you think we were to assume she was struggling with it behind the scenes? I know at the time writers didn't care about this stuff, but it comes off as a bit insincere. No shade to Leighton or Blair.

i agree, it was pretty poorly written post-1x09. i think they thought because she was in recovery, that meant they could just kinda drop it, mention its past existence once or twice in the later seasons, but never really deal with the repercussions of it, or the way that having an eating disorder as such a young teen might continue to affect her even if she was recovering by the time we met her. the causes of it were always quite clear in the essence of her character, particularly in regards to the s1 blair/serena/nate relationship and her relationship with her mother, we saw very, very early on just how much she struggles with control and anxiety, and those are issues that never went away... but they still really never dealt with the actual ED at length the way that they should have. she was pretty deeply insecure and anxious throughout the entire show and i think dealing with this aspect of her life/psyche for more than one episode would have been the more responsible path, as well as just fleshing out her character better.

i’m not sure if they expected us to assume she was still struggling with it off camera, that’s a good question! i’ve seen some fans reading into some lines and scenes from certain episodes (e.g. i’ve seen a youtube video compiling scenes from 3x18 which the creator read into to suggest a relapse), but i’m really not sure how intentional those moments ever were. she does also mention in blair waldorf must pie! that she takes lexapro, which i’m sure we should assume she takes for the rest of the series and beyond. she also mentions that she’ll call her therapist, so who knows how long she continued to see him after 1x09. but there were no mentions of either of these treatments after this episode as far as i can recall.

there is that scene at the beginning of 5x04 where she’s standing in front of the mirror, scrutinizing the ways pregnancy is changing her body, and says “i now understand why women used to go into confinement. it wasn’t because of modesty, but vanity. look at my boobs! ugh, i’m huge.” not an uncommon struggle for pregnant women, but definitely feels very notable coming from someone with blair’s history. i think we were always definitely meant to assume that her insecurities carried on, if not her ED which is more up to interpretation. imo, we were never meant to assume that her ED was still active at any point in the series (idk how to word it, but i mean that i think she was in recovery for the entire series), but for many people, disordered behaviours can linger and pop up in times of anxiety or depression even during recovery, and it’s really only realistic that we would assume these issues did not disappear immediately after 1x09 like the writing might make it seem.

This is less a question and more me yelling into the void and assuming you and those who follow you would feel my pain but I hate how difficult it is to find good replicas of obscure and non British RF tiaras. There are 400 replicas of the Spencer tiara or the Cartier Halo tiara. It's not difficult to find one of those in your price range but the Swedish Amethyst tiara? Maxima's peacock tiara? (I could list more but I'd be here all day) they have history and are unique but replicas are nowhere

I completely understand the need to yell into the void occasionally.  I don’t have much insight to offer because I don’t really buy replica tiaras.  I bought a couple many years ago and was very underwhelmed so I decided I would much rather spend my money on a book about tiaras.  Seriously since I’ve just been staying at home because of the pandemic I think all of my spending money has gone into books!  

One thing I do remember being frustrated by is that you can’t really search for a replica by it’s name because ebay, etsy, aliexpress, or whatever seller doesn’t have them labelled.  I assume it’s either because they don’t want to get in trouble from the designers or more likely they genuinely don’t know what tiara it’s a replica of so you have to browse through a bunch of tiaras and hope you get lucky and find the one you want.

My recommendation for anyone wanting to buy a replica tiara is to wait for @tiarasnteakettles to have one of their tiara sales.  The big one is the tiarapocalypse at the end of the year and it’s worth waiting for because you know you are going to get a good quality tiara and she’s not going to rip you off unlike a lot of replicas I see out there where the picture does not match the product.  I’ve decided that if she has the Khedive replica again this year I’m going to splurge on it because I’ve regretted not buying it last time.
