Rika is very rarely in a rush in the mornings

Waking up at sometime between 7-8am on a normal day, you'll often be stuck in bed with her snuggling you until then

Once she is awake you'll both be out of bed pretty quick, however

She's up pretty quick each morning to feed clodsire, the Pokemon's bottomless stomach getting it into trouble otherwise

After making sure all your Pokémon are sorted, Rika insists that the two of you make breakfast for yourselves

Usually still in cozy pyjamas, she pulls you into the kitchen and insists on 'helping' you to use a knife for anything

Rika just wants to wrap herself around you from behind

Once a very relaxed breakfast is over, she's finally ready to get dressed for the day

If you ever have any issues picking clothing, Rika is happy to pick for you

Though, she makes a few less than innocent comments in the process

"Those clothes look great on you babe, but you'd look better if they were on the floor-"

If you want to make your girlfriend quiet then you do have a secret weapon

Rika can't look you in the eyes when you do, blushing, hardly able to hide how much she loves it

The precious pout on her face as she turns away is everything

With a couple kisses at the door, Rika tries to delay her departure to work, only leaving when you push her out of the doorway

Milo has always been an early bird in the mornings

Growing up on a farm will do that to a person

Before it's even light outside, you'll feel the rustling of your boyfriend getting out of bed

The soft sounds of of wooden drawers opening and closing, Milo attempting to get himself dressed in the near complete darkness of your room

He always tries not to wake you but he can't leave in the morning without giving you a quick kiss on the forehead

Overall, he's very quiet and efficient in the early morning

When you do get up you'll notice there's coffee waiting for you in the pot and some breakfast being warmed in the oven

Milo is always doting on you, even in ungodly hours of the morning

After a simple but relaxing breakfast it's not long until your boyfriend is back from the fields

A bit tired and already covered in dirt, Milo is more than happy to give you another kiss before washing up

After making himself the sweetest cup of coffee you've ever seen, the two of you finally have a bit of time to sit down and chat

"C'mon, six sugars are completely normal in a cup of coffee."

When Milo next heads out into the fields, expect an invite to come join him and his wooloo

Good luck getting out of bed anytime in the morning with this guy

Piers refuses to wake up before midday, and considering he spends all night on the stage or writing songs it's hard to blame him

You'll find yourself stuck wrapped up in the gym leaders arms, with his grip tightening every time you attempt to get free

He's quite content soaking in your warmth and catching up on sleep

He's a very heavy sleeper too, so if you want to try and wake Piers up you'll need to enlist help

Your boyfriends ace pokemon is more than happy to weasel himself under the blankets before dragging a now half asleep Piers out of bed

The dark type does expect to be paid back in both breakfast and treats but it's worth it

With a grumble, Piers without fail always tries to run a hand through his bed hair before feeding the pokemon

It's somehow even wilder than it is usually, visible knots almost making you wince with the thought of getting them out

Piers is always a slow starter 'in the morning' and after settling the pokemon he's always happy to corner you in the kitchen for a few kisses

i think my favorite instances of pokemon and yo-kai with similar inspirations are the ones where you can barely tell they have the same inspiration. like. jibanyan and espeon are both based on nekomata. frostina/blizzaria and froslass are both yuki-onna. komasan and growlithe are both (at least according to bulbapedia on the latter cuz i really doubt it) komainu. honestly basically the only one i can think of where it's obvious are like. walkappa and lombre skdjfljfssfdsfdkljfds-

Thank you for the tag, @slutsons-blog! Starting a new post because I'm autistic and therefore mostly only care about the "Current Obsession" question, and want to ramble excessively as usual in that one.

Current Obsession: it's been spn since 2016. Truly we are the Hotel California of media franchises. I did recently play Disco Elysium twice in a row in quick succession, and I follow the DE tag. I can't recommend the game highly enough.... but I can feel my Special Interest-level obsession with it fading already. Spn has never faded even a tiny bit and I wonder if it ever will.

@slutsons-blog I feel after reading that you're watching spn for the first time, that I did you a bit of a disservice with my Sam takes to you before in that I mostly talked about Sam's evolution as a character as the show goes on and very little about him from the first five seasons.

Gotta be honest and tell you that although I liked both brothers all along, I was a Dean girl until the end of s6/beginning of s7, when the balance of who gets whumped the most started shifting and my subconscious suddenly decided to switch allegiances. It's not that I liked Dean any less; my id just loves a sopping wet pathetic kitten of a man who has been sexually abused, and Sam got suddenly way more kitteny and pathetic after the Cage. So I don't actually have a ton of takes on "what to love about Sam in the early seasons". I do love early seasons Sam too--she is my beautiful baby princess--but my early seasons takes are a lot more inchoate.

I count myself lucky about my id's sudden defection though, because I think we have limited control of who our blorbos are, and having Dean as a blorbo is a tough row to hoe as the later seasons go along. You know how you noticed that in s6, Dean suddenly gets a lot more assholey without apparent reason? Unfortunately he never gets better again, and in fact keeps getting worse and worse as the years go by, until by the last seasons he is openly far more abusive to their joint child(-in-an-adult body) than John was to him and Sam. It's a realistic picture of what can happen when trauma keeps piling up on people, but it's also honestly pretty distressing, especially if he's your blorbo.

If one is in it for the ship, there's some good destiel content in the later seasons, but if you're in it for Dean, you're left either 1) dealing with the fact he's got extremely significant interpersonal problems that he never gets much of anywhere on solving and that negatively impact his chosen family in profound ways, or 2) pretending he's the same character he was in s1 and Sam is the same Sam from s1, only more boring, and Dean is just trying to put up with him because he was brainwashed by John (or ig 3- something in the middle between those two. But that seldom seems to happen in practice for whatever reason). These two versions of the show are poorly compatible, and that's how the Sam girls and the Dean girls end up in isolated silos. A few people manage to live in both, but not many.

Anyway, I feel like without the context of how Sam and Dean change in the mid to late seasons, the two fics I recc'd as Sam character studies are going to seem insanely Dean-critical, so if you haven't read them yet, you might want to wait until s10. In the meantime, the general recs are fun reads and hopefully do a good job of showcasing both characters earlier on.

I like to think Varesa absolutely melts whenever the Vet does checkups on her. Her muscles are so sensitive when you brush over her thighs or chest, she can’t help but let out small moos of pleasure 🥺. The Vet is blissfully unaware of how much of a turn on it is for Varesa though. She thinks it’s just a simple checkup, but for Varesa she is teetering on the edge of wanting to pin you down on the hay bales and give you a calf.

Also, speaking of Hu Tao. I don’t remember if we talked about her yet in the AU, but imo she’d be a Bat! Hybrid. A butterfly hybrid is quite interesting considering all the butterflies in her design, but I think that species would go better with another genshin girl (I have an ask for a butterfly hybrid with someone else lol). I think Hu Tao being a Bat Hybrid would be fitting considering she’s so eerie but cute. She’ll tuck herself away in the barn ceilings and jump out to scare the Vet whenever she does her nightly rounds, perching on her head and screeching like the chaotic woman she is.

And, to answer your question about the Pirate/Siren AU for MerMay, I don’t have anything planned but perhaps once May rolls around and some thirsts start coming in for the AU, we might get something Pirate AU themed for the blog. Most of my inspiration comes from you guys, so if I see an influx of Pirate/Siren AU stuff for May, I’ll happily write some things for it 🩷

Given that all Marcin's family members are pokemon that evolve via friendship/happiness, what exactly triggered your evolutions?

Piotr: I evolved after I was accepted into a prestigious battling school, I must have been about 10 or 11 at the time. It was such an anticipated event. My family celebrated it like no tomorrow, it made me very happy.

Katarina: I evolved when I was around 13, after an amazing birthday party my friends threw for me! Bunearies are known to evolve quite late, even though their childhood is good. 13 is quite early for a buneary.

Marcin: pretty late, even by Buneary standards. Honestly, I had a pretty hard time growing up so I never thought evolution would be in the cards for me. But luckily, I visited Kalos one day and had such a great time that I evolved!

Hai, so I've been working on, as weird/cringe as this might sound, a OC for On Borrowed Time, and was wondering, is there any particular rhyme or reason behind how OBT characters look

On the same topic, do the names have proper meaning behind them, like Dielle, Malachi, any particular reason that's the name you landed apon, or was it random chance?

// Aw, not weird and cringe at all! I find it very flattering. The design philosophy of OBT characters has morphed over time as my own artistic preferences have changed- early designs for the comic favored features that I personally enjoyed (fluffy mammals, spiky dragon-y reptiles, white scleras and human-ish eyes). You can see this in Rune and Dielle, for example!

As I've continued my journey through art though, I've found I appreciate a lot of the canon designs of pokemon. When new characters are introduced, you may find that they stick closer to their canon designs, since I now have an easy time drawing them.

As a little drawing exercise, I even drew Rune and Dielle in a style closer to canon recently!

And honestly... I kinda prefer it! But their designs in the comic are pretty cemented at this point, and I still enjoy them even if they aren't 100% my preference anymore.

The other part of OBT's designs are that they have a notable feature- which will usually be either clothing or hybridization. Again, Dielle is an example of the latter (hence why her outfits are pretty sparse), and my general idea is to not clutter designs with too many elements that the species of the pokemon is completely unrecognizable. This is also why OBT doesn't (often) accept true fusion cameos- as far as OBT's worldbuilding is concerned, actual 50/50 hybrids are pretty much unheard of! Every pokemon has a base species they belong to, though they can have traits of another parent species.

Going back to the former point with clothing, look no further than our resident duck!

Where the standout part of their design is the cool clothes they wear. In general I've also been trying to make more of an effort to have more purebred designs show up in OBT, though mileage varies there haha.

As for names, they're mostly selected just based on if they sound nice for the character in question! I'll occasionally look up name meanings as a sort of tiebreaker, but mostly I go off of the list I talked about in this ask here when I'm in need of a name!

i did try and keep the colours and placements somewhat similar so it's not as different as it could be, plus the monochrome works out when the rest of him is super vibrant

speaking of, i'm not entirely sure what he looks like without his suit, probably just really green

his antennae glow in the dark, so do his irises. actually, a fair amount of him glows in the dark (green bits on gloves, star on chest, purple bits on his tail and boots)

eyelashes? whiskers? why not both? he's an alien after all, i added them in pretty early on in my initial sketch because i wanted his head area to have a little more visual interest and it kinda made sense since the eyes on his skin already kinda float off his head

smooth to the touch (though whether it's because you're making contact with fur or skin is up for debate because i don't know either)

I was cleaning up some broken links on my old silly Pokemon fansite, the Neglected Pokemon Lovers Unite (NPLU), and I realized that it has now been open for 25 years. TWENTY. FIVE. YEARS. That is an ASTONISHING amount of time for a site to stay open! Even if the last substantial update was like back in 2009 lol. The world around it has changed so much, but I think it's still valuable as a time capsule of a certain time on the internet. I wrote up a new essay about it on the site and did some general clean-up here and there.

Anyway to that end, since so much of the fic and art there is so old, I decided to compare Radic's oldest form to his newest! Radic was always a human boy but I just couldn't draw humans at the time so I made him a furry lol. Eventually I figured it out.

I also thought it'd be a neat challenge to mimic my own style back when it was really wonky and bad. And it was! It was kind of fun actually. I don't have too many shots of Radic from back then (it was hard to get art on the internet in the late 90's-early 00's), but I do have a few - hugging Kitsune, two old kiribans if you want to compare. I had a lot more old shots of Parasects though to reference unsurprisingly, they were very triangular lol. I think I did a pretty good job of matching what my art used to look like. I had a clear see-through Gameboy back in the day if you can't tell what Radic is holding lol.

4. What were your hero characters like before being turned into Pokemon? What did they look like and how were their lives? Do they ever recover any of their memories?

I'll be honest, I haven't thought about this question all too much, so the content here is somewhat subject to change!

(Gonna be excluding Explorers hero in this discussion cause they technically have a canon backstory set in the future and I haven't delved much into that—other folks have though and it's a super neat train of thought!)

I think each of my PMD hero characters probably entered the Pokemon world at different ages; Arcas and Brooke probably got yoinked in the early-teens, but Reese being PSMD Hero is kiiiinda up in the air if we're going with the story's canon (in these doodles she's about the age of the other Serene Village kids though, if not just a little older!)

One funny idea I had for Arcas was just that he was a Team Skull delinquent, but his rather dry humor and lack of expressions probably didn't change that much after getting turned into a Pokemon. Likely got more and more scraps of his old memories back, but overall it doesn't bother him much!

Brooke remembers all of her old life (GTI Hero is actually the only protagonist out of the entire franchise that canonically doesn't have amnesia), and she does not miss it at all—getting turned into a Pokemon probably helped her if anything!

Reese unfortunately kinda ends up in the same boat as Explorers Hero; the game's plot gives them a set backstory that I haven't thought about too much—but I do think she gradually pieces more and more of her amnesia together! it's probably pretty bittersweet?

Pokemon Horizons Episode 92 Review - Their New Adventure

While the episode marks the start of Liko and Roy’s new adventure in solving Laqurium cases and restore the Rising Volt Tacklers’ reputation, I find it interesting how a lot has been shown and told, despite this episode being a bit more simplistic compared to the previous two as it’s mainly solving the Laquirum case of the week. I feel like the next few episodes might be episodic, but hey, the new arc needs some footing before the important stuff happens.

I do like that this episode establishes how Liko, Roy and Dot’s relationship differs before and after the time skip. While they are still best friends and are each others’ greatest support, Liko does note Roy’s newfound dependable personality as he’s the one leading the investigation. He definitely has matured a lot with how he smiled when Liko was taking in the view of the scenery and how he was leading her away from Uruto’s yapping. Dot is currently mission control, but she’s still the commander of the team with how she strategizes and plans out how each of the Pokemon will attack. These three are such a good team.

My favorite aspect about this episode is how both Liko and Roy are using all of their Pokemon. One of the few issues I have with Pokemon Horizons was the lack of screen time the kids’ second Pokemon usually have as the story focused a lot on their partners, but seeing Hattrem and Kilowattrel have more screen time in these past three episodes than they did in the entirety of the fourth arc is pretty crazy. Anyways, I do like that each of their Pokemon has their own role in the battle with the two Steelix. Though, I’m a bit puzzled with how Kilowattrel was affected by Sand Tomb, despite it being part Flying-type.

I was expecting that Pagogo would be awakened towards the end of the arc, but having it awaken this early on makes more sense in that the group needs its power to quell affected Pokemon. Also, having it awaken early was a good thing because it gave birth to a new possible (albeit morbid) running gag in that Uruto’s Sableye was trying to eat it, pertaining to its Pokedex entry where it’s confirmed it eats crystals and jewels. Poor Pagogo—asleep for a year and then a purple goblin tries to eat it. In all honesty, I hope this running gag continues because it’s so interesting to see Pokemon behaving like what their Dex entry states. Sableye is just being consumed by its biological urges. I’m also amazed with how Ayane Sakura, the voice actress of Orla and Coral’s Scream Tail, can produce those noises.

Another side of Uruto is seen here with him being a bit standoffish towards the end when he’s properly introduced to Liko. He was shocked to see Roy with her earlier in the episode, so I assume he’s awkward around girls. It was funny to see Sableye teasing him about it. Though, I do wonder why Uruto’s so obsessed with Roy that he keeps following him around. The boy even left Hoenn and reached Kanto just to find him. Given that he’s usually portrayed alone in both the opening and ending makes me think he has attachment issues and that’s why he follows Roy around. Uruto is voiced by Natsumi Fujiwara, who’s known for voicing Damian Desmond from Spy x Family. I think Fujiwara is doing a great job with Uruto so far.

I do like that the episode takes place in the border between Kanto and Johto, presumably in the area where Mt. Silver resides in-game. Canonically, Johto exists on the west side of Kanto and there is a border that divides them, which is right next to Indigo Plateau and New Bark Town. I like that detail, especially how Liko points out the beautiful scenery and how it’s right next to Kanto yet she’s never been there before. Man, I love Pokemon Horizons—did I ever mention that?

The ending drops a bombshell with how Zirc and Onia mention how Amethio has been missing for a year, just like Friede. This makes it easy to theorize that Friede and Amethio might be together and laying low. The fact that Cervantes, Amethio’s father (yes, that’s his dub name),  stepped down from his position as director despite knowing Amethio isn’t dead shows off a possible caring side that he hasn’t shown on-screen. With how Hamber gives the two the Zygarde Cell Cage (I forgot the official name), it sort of reminded me of Sina and Dexio with how they give the player the cage in the Gen 7 games and how it lead to catching Zygarde. Wait, are Zirc and Onia going to be Horizons’ iteration of Sina and Dexio?

With how Uruto joined the fray and showed off Mega Evolution with Roy, I do wonder if this will be a sign that there will be more Mega Evolution users in the future and if Liko and Dot will get it too. Let me know what sort of Mega Pokemon you want Liko and Dot to have!

Grusha <3

Grusha is honestly pretty normal when it comes to his mornings

He likes to stick to a set routine, but he doesn't freak out if he sleeps in or needs to shuffle things around

Wakes up at 7am every morning and tumbles out of bed in a giant hoodie with a rattatas nest for hair

Boils the jug for his coffee and feeds his Cetitan, trying stay quiet enough that he doesn't wake you

Once you do wakes up, Grusha is drinking his coffee on the couch and has already prepared a hot drink for you too

He might already be on his second coffee but you don't need to know that

You're more than welcome to snuggle up with him on the couch, enjoying your drink as whatever sport he's watching plays in the background

When it's time to start getting ready for the day he'll be very appreciative of help taming his bed hair

Sit him down on the ground in front of you while you're on the couch so you're comfy while brushing it

"You can put a braid in if you really want... But only a small one."

You'll be there a while, but he's already worked that into the morning schedule

Other than that, he really doesn't take long to get ready and after a few good bye kisses Grusha will be out the door

Raihan <3

Raihan basically sleeps on top of you

There's no need for a weighted blanket when your boyfriend is basically a living one

You'd best be prepared to be stuck in bed for a while too, because if it's not gym challenge season there's no way he's waking up before 11am

And once he does wake up he needs at least an hour minimum to doomscroll on his rotom phone in bed

He does it while still lying on top of you, naturally

If you desperately need help to get him out of bed, flygon can be convinced to help

The dragon pokemon is happy to get all up in Raihans business and help roll him off you

Once Raihan finally makes it out of bed, he wanders into the kitchen wearing only what he sleeps in

Aka his briefs

He'll ask if you like the view while he cooks you guys brunch

"Feel free to take a photo, babe, it'll last longer."

Raihan's happy to take the mornings with you nice and slow while he can

And that includes plenty of pictures of you two and more than one 'outfit of the day' post

We have a total insomniac over here

N falls asleep very late at night and wakes up very early in the morning, but he'll stay in bed the whole time you're sleeping

On the morning he wakes before the sun comes up and knows he won't be able to fall asleep again he'll grab a book

With a soft bedside lamp on, zoroark half on his lap, and you by his side he's more than happy to read the morning away

He's the type of softy to brush hair away from your face as you sleep

Should you wake up early with him, then he'll open up the curtains in your room so you can both watch the sunrise from bed

Pulls you into his chest and wraps both of your shoulders in another blanket too

As usual, N's zoroark joins in with any cuddling going on and is a very welcome heat source in winter

He's in no rush to get out of bed, but once you're up for the day so is he

N always starts off his morning with breakfast, but I feel like he's a cold breakfast person

He'll cook for you though if he knows you like a hot breakfast

If you're not a breakfast person he'll also low-key guilt you into eating something for your own good

"Eating is a non negotiable, love. Now, do you want me to make you some toast?"

He's so sweet and domestic-
