Various Pokemon Character x Overstimulated Reader

(Platonic, GN Reader)

AN: this is a repost from my old blog so yeah so if you've seen this before that's why. This was written with an autistic reader in mind because that's what i am but if you get overstimulated for any reason i hope this can still apply to you! Platonic intentions but could be read as romantic if you want.

Ingo + Emmet:

You know one of them would pick up on it instantly. They are always looking out for you when you go to work with them if this is a common problem. The station is busy and crowded and noisy and even they can get overstimulated by it on a bad day.

So the second one of them sees you show signs of being uncomfortable they signal to the other and the two of them drop everything to be by your side.

They would lead you to their office and check in with you on what you need. If you can verbalize what you need, they will provide it in a heartbeat.

Don't feel like talking or can't talk at the moment? Usually they will still be able to figure out what you need and provide it for you.

Ingo is careful to do his best to keep his usually booming voice down to a whisper if noise is bothering you, and the two try to stay relatively quiet and still as not to cause any more problems for you.

But if even that isn't quiet enough they keep noise cancelling headphones for you in an emergency bag in their office!

In that same bag they have other various things you may need while with them including any meds you need, painkillers, a couple fidget toys to keep you distracted, a stuffed animal, and anything else you would need. And the stash isn't just for you tbh. Sometimes they also need access to these things so they keep them on hand.

While they can't always leave work to stay with you at home, usually one of them can spare an hour or so to take you home and help set you up with anything you would need. And if it's a slow day either one or both of them will just straight up stay home with you for the rest of the day. Even if you feel better they will continue to attend to your every need for the rest of the day.

These two always try to be prepared for anything and are constantly on the lookout for ways to help you better, so if you just tell them what you need once you've calmed down they will be ready and prepared next time this happens.

Basically they understand and sympathize with your struggle and are always ready and willing to help you out!

Volo:

Volo is constantly paying attention to you when you two are together. You are the most interesting person he's ever met. And he's met a lot of people in his travels. So when you suddenly seem distressed he's quick to ask what's wrong.

The first time it happens you have to explain it to him and how to help. Which isn't always the easiest to do when you feel horrible. But he makes sure to follow your instructions clearly. He rushes you to the nearest quiet place he can find and places his hat on your head before saying "i'll be back." If you protest him leaving he looks you very deeply in the eyes and promises in the most genuine tone he can muster that he will be back.

He returns shortly after with a cup of tea. He explains it helps with relaxation and asks if there is anything else he can do for you.

He really would do anything for you. Just say the word. You've got him wrapped around your finger. Want his jacket to wear? It's yours. Want some of his wears to snack on? Say no more. Want him to snuggle you? He'll hold you gently like you are the most precious treasure in the world. And if you want to just be left alone? He's far enough away not to bother you but still in earshot if you need anything else.

Over time he gets better and better with dealing with it. He's so observant he can sometimes even tell when you are starting to get overstimulated before you do.

His Togekiss is also always willing to help out if you want contact but don't want to be around a person.

Over all Volo is pretty helpful. While he won't always know what to do without you telling him, once he knows what you need he would go from one end of the earth to the other to get it for you.

Cogita:

Her house is so isolated. There are no people around for miles. So if you ever want to just hide away somewhere for a day she is always happy to have you over as a guest. You can always stay as long as you want. You could stay with her and hide away from the world for months and she would be happy to have you there.

So when you come stumbling to her front door, tears beading in your eyes, she is already starting to boil water for tea. You tell her you've just been so stressed recently and ask if you could stay with her for a couple days.

She accepts happily and leads you to lay down on her bed. She blocks the light coming from the windows and suddenly you feel slightly better. The dark space and quiet sounds of nature around you are already starting to help you relax. And you are always surprised by how heavenly soft her bed is.

She hands you a cup of tea and the soothing warmth of the cup helps lull you farther into a sense of security. If you are okay with physical touch she is running her hand up and down your back in soothing motions and murmuring soft praises to you. If not she is content to just sit nearby or even outside if you need her to for a bit. She lets you know that you aren't any worse of a person, that you don't have any less worth just because you get overstimulated easily. She assures you that you are a perfect specimen of a person and that she cherishes every bit of time you spend with her. And she tells you that you can stay with her as long as you need until you are ready to go back to society.

Over all Cogita is a very wonderful person to be with when you feel stressed or overstimulated. She has a calming aura and is very pleasant to be around. She has experience dealing with people like this in the past and she always seems to know just what to say to comfort you in the moment.

Piers:

Piers can be kind of clueless sometimes when it comes to you being overstimulated. It doesn't come from a place of uncaring, he just doesn't always notice. He tends to unintentionally tune out a lot of things in his constantly underslept state of existence.

But for whatever reason, his pokemon always notice. And they are quick to alert Piers of your predicament. He is then always by your side.

He can be a little bit prone to panicking over you if you look especially bad, but is quick to try and hide it as he doesn't want to make you feel any worse.

He can't always leave where he is if he's in between battles or he's out in public for some other important event, but he will let you know that you can leave if you want. He won't be upset. And if you want to stay with him he will do whatever he can to help you out.

One of his most common solutions is to let you borrow his earbuds and phone to watch something or listen to music and distract yourself. He will also keep a hand on you at all times if you don't mind the contact just so he can remind you he's right there and to try and help ground you.

He's also one to talk to you and keep you focused on him and not anything else around you. He will just say anything to keep you listening to him.

Even if he can't always leave and go home with you he will sometimes seek out an area that isn't as highly populated. whether that be a bathroom or anything else he will get you there so it isn't as loud and overstimulating.

His pokemon will nuzzle up to you and try to distract you. The dark types may look intimidating, but for you they are absolute softies.

And if you two are just out and about and not for something Piers has to be apart of, then he is getting you home as quick as possible the second you don't feel ok. He's calling a flying taxi and you two are out of there!

Up in the air in the taxi it's a lot quieter and you start to feel somewhat better.

When you two get home Piers spends the rest of the day doing whatever you want. And for once there are no joking complaints coming out of his mouth when you suggest something that he doesn't usually care about. He is alert and attentive as he tries his best to take care of you.

Over all Piers is very useful. He can't always completely remove you from the situation but he will work to distract you and keep you grounded so you don't work yourself up into an even worse state.

Headcanons of Guzma, Raihan, Piers, and Adaman react to shy crush confessing to him?

hello anon, thank you for the request! i can totally do this for you!

𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐡𝐚𝐧

-you decided that today youre going to be confessing to Raihan. with the help of one Pokemon, Applin. you read somwhere that Applin can be used for confessing your love to someone. so you went on a journey to find Applin, even though it was going to be a rare find you were dedicated to give him that Applin.

-he loved your confidence and determination, and admired you for going far and beyond for someone that you love. and he was determined go go far and beyond just for you.

-he definitely teased you a bit during the confession (and still does) "haha, youre face is as red as Applin!" he loves to gently pinch your red cheeks for some reason.

-he of course accepted your confession as soon as he took the pink loveball containing Applin out of your hands. you two definitely raised the Applin together, he even uses it during battles at times.

-like true Raihan nature, after the two of you confessed he took a picture of the two of you captioning it something cheesy. and in that momment everyone knew that the two of you belonged to each other.

𝐆𝐮𝐳𝐦𝐚

-you did not confess to this man out of your own will. It was actually one of the team skull members who teased you about it and threatened to tell Guzma themselves. so after hours of contemplating and procrastinating you decided that you would go up to him yourself and proudly spit out your confession. (however, it did not actually go like that. you were whimpering and trembling the whole way)

-he actually admires your confidence for going up to him and just confessing to him like that (little does he know), knowing how that stuff isnt easy for you. and hes actually suprised you confesses to him out of all people. how could such a gentle person like you love someone like him?

-of course he loves you too, he always has. but the idea of someone returning his love seems so surrel to him. you've always made him feel some type of way, around you he feels like he can let go of his "big scary tough guy" demeanour, thats when he knew he wanted to spend his life with you.

-he notices how much youre shaking after minutes of silence from him, he then confesses. you're relived, you can finally let out that shaky breath youve been holding in. he walks to you and pulls you in to his side, which is somewhere you'd never leave

-he would tease the hell out of you. i mean even before you confessed he would tease you, but this was the cherry on top. he would just keep on going and going until you turn red in the face and pass out. (jk he wouldnt go that far, maybe just some "light" teasing)

(aaaaaaa sorry this is more of a short story than a headcanon)

𝐏𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬

-you two confessed to each other on the same day!

-while he listened to your confession he just couldn’t help but to admire you and your confidence. he admired the fact that you liked him out of all people, he didn’t see himself as anything extravagant but him hearing the way you praise him in your confession made him really feel like the best person in the world

-while you confession was nearing its end he gently grabbed your hand and traced circles on your skin with his thumb. and when you finished he aligned your hand with his and slowly intertwined his hand with yours. which obviously caused you to become more flustered than you already were.

-to accept your confession he pulled out a cute bat clip, one of the many gifts and trinkets he got for you this very special day. he gave yu many things that fit your interest and manythings of his own.

-for his confession he led you back to the Spikemuth gym so he could preform a song he wrote just for you! while he preformed he held your hand and looked lovingly in your eyes.

-after that he just preformed what ever song you like. and would mix in a song he had from a playlist he made just for you

-he would totally play any love song by The Cure. Lovesong, Friday Im in Love, Lovecats, etc

𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧

-you decided to ask to confess to him two days before the festival being held in Jubilife village. (you had a week, but of course you were too nervous) he happened to be in the area, you decided not to waste anymore time.

-while confessing he noticed how shakey your voice was and how you stumbled over your words. he put a hand on your shoulder, "hey hey, its alright. take your time okay?" he smiled. (he made it worse)

-he was so bold and quick in accepting your offer to accompany him to the festival and in returning your confession. it almost scared you knowing that someone can be like this, but thats what you liked about him the most

-he loves the fact that you took the time out of your day to confess to him. how could you apologize for wasting his time? when youre around no time of his is wasted, hell be sure to let you know that.

-he gave you a blue hair pin/shirt pin that would match the outfit that he would be wearing to the festival.

Your group of friends all pause and share glances at each other, sharing smiles and secrets. You raise two fingers. "Two people kissed me. I dunno who. Is anybody gonna tell me?"

"What are you gonna do when you find out who bit you?" Raihan says coyly. "I'm gonna ask them to do it again, that shit's hot, who the fuck was that."

—“🐼 Piers is confrontational and blunt to others because he holds high but achievable standards for everyone around him. Although, he’s unfair to himself because he’s his own worst critic when it comes to his passions and profession. Seeing this, you take time to validate his concerns and give support to his ideas. Now, he doesn’t furrow his eyes as much as he used to.

—“🎙️ Piers briefly mentions in passing conversation that he used to be in an underground band before they broke up due to conflicting aspirations. You ask him to elaborate and he tells you that the more they performed, the more Piers couldn’t help but worry about his hometown and whoever will run the Spikemuth Gym in his absence since Marnie was still young. He went to pursue being a Gym Leader while his bandmates either joined different bands, studied towards a college degree, or became blue-collar workers.

You ask him about the band name and, while he keeps the name they settled on as something to mention another time, he tells you that he jokingly suggested “Piers the Veil”. Now, whenever one of his old bandmates recognizes him he gets called “Piers Fuentes”.

—“💿 On special nights, you spend time with Marnie because her fans and her well-known brother make it hard for her to form relationships that aren’t superficial. You help Marnie work through her anger whenever someone tries to really press her buttons, and not to be so emotionally dictated by Morpeko. Although, you do recognize her best friend’s efforts to redirect her emotions.

—“🎶 You and Piers attend basement performances and small venues to see and support local punk bands. In turn, he comes with you to concerts for your favorite artists. He abhors being recognized in public (specifically in tight spaces) and suddenly being in a camera’s view, but pushes aside his worries for you.

—“🐼 When Piers wakes up, he gets bad bed head and needs to take an hour to tame his hair. Marnie jokes that Piers takes more time in the bathroom than any other girl she’s known. He asks for assistance (sometimes begrudgingly) to untangle gnarly hair knots if he sleeps in late over the weekends.

—“🎙️ When you first met Piers’ Pokémon, they weren’t as friendly as you’d like them to. However, you suspected it was because they reflected Piers’ gloomy demeanor until they finally began warming up to you.

—“💿 You live together in an apartment with separate rooms. You walk past the hall and Piers’ door is open enough where you can see a glimpse of him practicing on his bed. He sings softly and you listen close with your head against the doorframe and eye peering through the crack. The lyrics are about how he doesn’t see a world without you, and he’s scared of being a part of anything else that doesn’t tether him to Earth like you.

—“🎶 Piers has a successful solo music career after he gave Marnie the Spikemuth Gym, and he dedicates an EP about you but doesn’t mention it until you hear him play one of the songs when he asks you to help him practice for a gig. They were at a rooftop venue overlooking an ocean, and he proposes to you when he finishes the set while the sky is tinted with purple and orange.

Will do. I actually was confused on what you meant by ex-trainers. But I originally thought that you meant that they were Pokémon hybrids. Then I thought you meant that you and them were trainer's together when you two were younger. I wrote my second idea because that made more sense since you didn't mention anything about Pokémon hybrids. I also apologize for taking so long and for the cringe. Piers is under read more.

Ex-Trainers to Lovers

Raihan

You haven't been back to Galar since you were 16. Your family moved to Unova after your 16th birthday. You had to say goodbye to everything and everyone you knew.

You were especially upset to be leaving your trainer buddy Raihan. You knew that it wouldn't be the same now as it was back then. You met up with Raihan at a coffee shop near his home and decided to catch up.

"How was Unova? Did you make a new trainer buddy while you were there?"

You sighed and looked at him.

"You know that I could never replace you, Rai. You were and will always be my only trainer buddy."

"I know. It's just that it felt empty without you here. Leon is fun to battle, but it's just not the same."

You put your hands on his hands which makes him look at you.

"Rai, your feelings are valid. Now how about I tell you about the twin subway masters I got to battle."

~11 months later~

You were in the stands watching Raihan and Leon battle.

Of course you were wearing your Raihan merch and cheering him on. You noticed how he was off his game during the battle. After it ended you ran to the locker room. You knocked and the door opened, so you walked in. You saw Raihan with his head in his hands and you sat down next to him.

"If you don't want to talk about it that's okay."

That's when Raihan kissed your cheek.

"I'm in love you, Y/N. If you don't feel the same way then I completely understand. I understand because we haven't seen each other since we were sixteen."

You kissed his cheek and he looked at you with a surprised expression.

"I've never stopped loving you, Rai."

Piers

You and Piers were once rival trainers. Throughout the years many thought you and Piers hated each other. But it was all a fun game to you two. After Piers became a gym leader you two slowly drifted away.

You were walking around a clothing store in Spikemuth and spotted Marnie. She saw you and the two of you started talking. That was until Piers showed up to check on Marnie.

“Hey Piers. How is the life of a Gym Leader treating you?”

You asked him trying to make conversation

“It’s been alright. I’m thinking about retiring and passing the gym onto Marnie.”

You nod and notice that Marnie managed to slip away from the conversation.

“How have you been, Y/N?”

“I’ve been okay. Life has been boring without you honestly.”

Piers blushed and tried to hide it.

“I mean I guess that’s because I’ve been busy with the gym and stuff.”

“Would you like to… um get dinner with me sometime? Unless you’re busy and stuff.”

“I’d like that, Y/N”

~4 months later~

You and Piers were just hanging out as his house catching up.

“I bet you have people trying to date you all the time, Piers.”

“Yeah. It’s dumb because I don’t like any of them. I’ve only liked one person romantically.”

You look at him surprised.

“Really? Who? What’s their name? Are they from Galar?”

“Um… I actually like you romantically, Y/N.”

You blush and hold his hands gently.

“Since when?”

“Since forever I guess.”

“I honestly thought you didn’t feel the same way, Piers.”

You and Piers were about to kiss, but Marnie came in and interrupted.

“If you two are going to kiss please do so in his room, please and thank you.”

She states as she goes to her room. You and Piers laugh at the situation and finally kiss.

He often thinks to himself that he doesn't deserve the things he has.

The position of gym leader. An absolutely adorable little sister. Somehow adoring fans. A wonderful team. And the responsibility of Spike mouth.

But most of all he doesn't think he deserves you.

He loves you. He adored you. He wanted to have you by his side forever even if he thinks he doesn't deserve you. He felt guilty often, often thinking he could offer nothing even though you never left and always stuck to his side even when Spikemuth temporarily went into ruins and he was depressed trying to manage everything. You never blamed him for anything and always was there to kiss his cheeks in reassurance.

But what probably made him love you the most of all was how you were with Marnie. Like two sisters you two were almost as inseparable as they were. Always there to help her with any problems young girls faced. He remembered that it was you that she went to when she got her first crush and needed advice on boys. It was you she went to when she didn't know how to style her hair a certain way. When she was younger and yourself and him were teenagers, a little Marnie had gotten into your make up and he felt so bad seeing most of it destroyed or smeared like bad clown make up all over her face. It was the expensive stuff too.

But instead of getting mad, you merely helped her wash off the make up and redid it on her because she wanted to feel pretty just like you.

That's when he realized it. He's always been in love with you since you both were children but it was that moment that hit it home. He never thought about actually being together since he thought you deserved more but his sister was smarter than he realized and she knew his feelings so one day during lunch she decided for the both of them.

"Oi. Y/n, ya seein' anyone?"

"No. Not really. Why?"

"So you're single?"

"Yes? Again why?'

"Oh...I was jus' curious 's all. Everyone who I know is your age is already datin' someone."

"Haha! It's ok."

"Do ya got a crush or interested 'n someone then?"

"Not yet but maybe Mr. Right is somewhere around the corner. Are you seeing anyone?"

"Who me? Nah. No bloke's caught my eye yet. But back on topic. Yer single."

"Yes."

"My bro is single n' he's in love with you. Please date 'em so he'll stop pinin' for ya."

"PPFFFT-?!"

He ended up spitting his lemonade all over the table and nearly had to be taken to Nurse Joy for his coughing fit. Some how you cornered him after and wouldn't let him go until he cleared it up or confirmed what she said..and he was a terrible liar. So it was inevitable for the outcome now.

He would much rather have you wrapped up in his arms now and with him than with anyone else even if at times he doesn't think he deserves you.

guessing this is like more of a weird cosplay thing than like what I did for villains. also an s/o there since. x reader blog and all lol.

● The second he sees something related to a fan dressing in a “train wife aesthetic”, whether it be from Elesa showing him a post she saw online or in person somewhere in the Gear Station, he instantly is distressed by it. Why? He had heard of people wanting to buy his and Emmet's coats and hats, but that made sense with them being local celebrities in Nimbasa. Their choices confused him further. Something about the focus on sweaters alongside a strange fascination with the colours black, purple, and white left him baffled. It almost felt like they were taking from his casual outfits, almost.

● He supposes he does not mind, though. It was nothing too out of the ordinary. He had witnessed people dressing up as him and his brother, so this felt like some other odd things his fans did. As long as none of them were actually claiming to be his partner, he decided this was nothing that he needed to address. Ingo would just wait this out, assuming that people would eventually get bored and move on after a little while.

● Though, if his actual partner was upset by this, he might feel less happy with it. Especially if there were a few outliers of the mean daring to claim that they were in a relationship with him. Ingo would hate for people to cause distress in you and would likely ask that people please stop pretending to be his partner since he is already in a relationship. Whether that would actually do anything is anyone's guess, though. He would definitely beg his partner not to try to fight the weird fans online, too. That was the last thing he would need.

● Ultimately, Ingo just hopes it will pass quickly as an odd but notable trend among his fans. The inspiration from his own clothing choices into theirs makes him a bit curious as to what they would think he would prefer his partner wear, however. Truthfully, he has no real preference. He feels confused upon seeing this “train wife aesthetic” video, with a woman choosing to wear clothing themed among cutesy styles and bright colours. His expression is vacant, with his usual smile still on his lips. This made little sense to him. Were they dressing in styles they thought he would like? He asked Elesa, and she explained to him that it was related to some greater style thing happening in online fashion. Apparently, dressing up like your favourite celebrity trainer's partner was big. He just nodded.

○ He still does not understand for the most part. It was strange to him but ultimately harmless. People dressed up like him and Ingo often enough for him to just shrug it off. The only thing that may upset him was if one of these fans actually claimed to be his partner. That boundary was one thing that he would prefer not to be crossed. He just decided to go back to being unaware and figured it would go away, like most trends do.

○ If it was upsetting his partner, however, Elesa may need to take his phone before he makes a fool of himself. Even more so if it were someone claiming they were his partner online. He hates seeing his darling upset and does not want to allow anything that distresses them to continue! Emmet simply wants to make you happy. Elesa would help his draft a post to explain why people pretending to be his partner online makes him uncomfortable and how he wishes they would stop out of respect for him and his real partner. She had to stop him from threatening to send Joltiks after people doing it since he was so emotionally charged from it.

○ In the end, Emmet does not really like or dislike it, but he does prefer to pretend to know nothing about it. His curiosity about what led to the fashion choices that his fans all seemed to agree upon was his only real thought he gave it. Everything seemed so bright and cutely themed that he did not get it. He knew what he preferred his partner to wear, and it certainly was not anything someone could post online to normal social media sites. He just shrugs again. It was not the first time his fans had misread him, after all.

✖️ The singer sees it randomly while scrolling social media on his phone and cocks a brow up at it. “Punk Singer's GF Style”? He wants to assume it is someone else, but clearly there are too many elements in the various styles that call back to him. Hot pink, leather, and black and white stripes all dead giveaways. It did not feel anything far away from his recollection of fans making their own homemade dark-type gym uniforms before he started selling them at his concerts. He looks a little more into it and discovers its relation to a bigger trend with dressing like a celebrity trainer's partner. He scoffed at the “Gym Leader-Influencer's GF Fits” he saw.

✖️ He knows better than to acknowledge these things. No need to pour diesel on this when it would be easier to let it pass on its own. Fans do weird things – Piers is more than aware of this. He does feel a bit perturbed by a few audacious ones claiming they were his real partner, but even then, he knew it was better to just ignore it. They wanted attention and nothing more. Better to not feed it.

✖️ If his partner expressed discomfort at the trend, he would be inclined to agree. Especially if it were about the ones claiming to be with him. Piers did not want to force a public relationship with him on you, but if you wanted to do that to try to stop weirdos online, he would be down. 'Course, he is not forcing anyone to do anything. Even if you were clearly uncomfortable by it, he knows better than to bring attention to something. He assures you it will go away, and instead wants to channel your upset into something else. Help him write a song or something. Leave an impact on him in a way others only wish they could.

✖️ Piers does not really like it, ultimately, but he is more than aware of how the internet works. Though, he does find their choices in clothes most fascinating. Seriously? It almost feels strange seeing them in clothing similar to his own or, weirder, one he saw in a dress like Marnie's own. That one made him uncomfortable enough to block them. He does not really dictate what his partner wears at all. That is not his style. Not to say he would not prefer them to have similar tastes to his own, but he would not force that on them.

⭐️ The black-haired woman felt a bit intrigued when she sees something like “Model Gym Leader's GF Chic” on her feed. She enjoys fashion, after all. It was a bit strange seeing people dressing how they thought her partner would, however. All of it seemed yellow or blue and based around some of her previous looks or pokemon. Did they think she wanted to dress up a lover in some of her clothes? Well, maybe a little bit, but casually? Day to day? Not really. Though, she did hate how much she really enjoyed a lot of the styles. It was nice seeing inspiration taken from some of how styles and applied out on others.

⭐️ She would never speak about it openly, fully aware it would just bring more attention to it, but her inner circle and private account followers get to see her favourite styles taken out from the trend. Elesa does not really mind it, finding it mostly to be people online having fun, but she really does not like anyone trying to claim to actually be her partner. That is a boundary she does not like to have overstepped. Of course, she bites her tongue back on saying anything. Like most fads, it will pass and something new will replace it. She will just enjoy the lovely outfits that come out of it for now.

⭐️ Though, her partner expressing distress over it would make her a little less excited about it. Elesa gets what it is for the most part personally, but to you, it must have seemed like people wanting to be with her. Well, there were a lot of those, too. She would try to explain how she views it and hope it calms you down from your emotional high. Your feelings are perfectly understandable, too, of course. Especially if it is about the people claiming to be her partner online. Her best advice is to ignore it and let it fade, giving those people attention is the last thing to do. She is more than happy to remind you that you are who she loves in order to distract you both from it.

⭐️ In the end, Elesa does not mind a majority of the trend and even really likes certain aspects of it. She does, however, find it strange that they think she would like her partner to wear clothing really similar to her own. The model would not oppose that, no, but she really likes to see how they could express themselves individually from her. Their own style tells her a lot about their personality. That is what she loves to see more than anything else.

Can I have Piers crushing on a Pokepasta Reader? He's trying to be smooth but gets blushie around the trainer despite them having totally undead Pokémon and might bleed from their eyes ever now and then.

At first glance, Piers thought you were just a very strong trainer with a spooky getup you liked wearing 24/7. Similar to Allister except you were very committed to the act.

Though he quickly learns that while your team certainly gives off ghost-type vibes....they aren't all necessarily ghost types themselves.

There was your undead Cinderace who shattered both legs in a freak accident after a failed High Jump Kick, with said legs being reduced bloody stumps and sharp bones.

Next was a rusty Klang possessed by twin workers who died in an old Galarian factory over 50 years ago, forced to share a vessel that reminds them of their demise.

You even had an Arctovish who became aware that it was brought back "wrong" and snapped its neck in an attempt to force its head back into the normal position.

Oh, and there's a Lvl 1 Shiny Drifloon in your party, too. Nothing unusual nor tragic about it. It's just your "emotional support" 'mon.

Ofc Piers is concerned when he learns their stories, but sees they're happy with you, so he tries not to worry about it too much.

Somewhere down the line, he winds up developing a crush on you, especially when you asked him for a tour of Spikemuth bc you wanted to find a place to stay.

It was closed off to visitors who weren't doing the gym challenge, but for you he made an exception.

He tries being all cool/smooth with you as he talked about the town, his battles strategies, etc.

But even Marnie can see her big bro is madly in love with you, though if she mentions you in any way he tries changing the subject.

Around you, it's hard to hide his blush whenever he sees you petting his Obstagoon's fur, or when you wrap a scarf around your Arctovish's broken neck with such tenderness and care.

He blames it on the neon signs if you point it out.

Most of Team Yell knows his infatuation with you, but some grunts are lowkey terrified of you and have brought this up numerous times.

"Piers...haven't ya noticed they look like a bloody corpse??? Does that not freak you out???"

"...I've been called a walking corpse, too, and none of you are scared of me."

Once the four of you start officially dating, you all still keep it very much on the down low

Raihan will still post photos with captions calling you guys his 'favourite people' but nothing about you all being together romantically

And even if you all go as a group to Piers shows, there's minimal PDA to try and avoid people finding out

Usually just keeping to fleeting touches and knowing looks

It's not because any of the are embarrassed or ashamed of dating you or being in a poly relationship, but they're high profile people with a lot of fans so they worry about the potential reception

When you guys go on public dates it often looks more like a group of good friends all going out for dinner

There were also plenty of assholes that wanted to judge your relationship

Three very eligible bachelors with cult followings were just taken off the market all at once after all

If Raihan sees anything in the comments of any posts he simply deletes and blocks

Piers tends to post his own scathing remarks in response, he has no patience for people judging things they don't understand

Leon is blissfully unaware of any online hate, but if he sees you upset then he'll wrap you up in a hug and let your other boyfriends loose in the comments

Extremely traditional, he has the entire date planned out has a whole list of things to do and places to eat, and things to see.( more often than not already has a reservation planned)

No matter if it's your first second third or 600th the date he'll always feel nervous to take you out somewhere.

You never expected Kabu to be so romantic, he just wants to make sure you're having a good time.

Kabu's idea of a date is just as traditional a fancy dinner or somewhere quiet and go home.

The gym leader does admit that it has been sometime since he's taken someone out, and he wouldn't be surprised if dating has changed in recent years, so he would be open to anything if you decide to change it. But his first instincts will always be take you out to dinner.

Now he doesn't mind taking you places to have fun it will just take him a while to let loose a little bit. He'd much rather take it slow.

During the actual date, Kabu won't take his eyes off you; you have his full attention.

Kabu prefers taking it slow he is not interested in flings when he is with someone he is in for the long haul. He wishes for a partner to stay by his side.

Kabu says is not a jealous man but you can't help but notice his eyes seemed to Twitch when someone gets a little buddy with you.

Raihan

Raihan thrives off dates while a dinner is considered for him, it isn't his go-to.

Like the extroverted battery he is he will drag you to any place he thinks is fun and wants to bring you to. Every attraction in Galar are you two have gone to at least twice. And precious thumb drives are filled with pictures and videos of every date. The ones he posts on his social media are not even 1% of the ones he has.

Raihan is less of a list and plan guy and more of a follow your heart.

If going out isn't really your thing or going anywhere where there's a lot of people he'll try to meet in the middle because a date is successful when two people are having fun.

As much as I do see Raihan being the more extroverted going out and doing things kind of boyfriend I do think he is rather flexible with Partners who don't really want to go out.

Raihan is extremely perceptive of other people, and we'll take note of your likes and dislikes, to be completely honest he is the happiest when you're happy.

Raihan is a self-proclaimed Master at dating spots; like I said, he is highly perceptive of the people he is dating. He'll pick a place that he knows you'll like, and he'll pick up on your habits pretty quickly. He'll know when you are or not having fun.

Raihan is a very doting boyfriend anyone would be lucky to be with him.

I also see him as quite the gift-giver as well, he puts a lot of thought into every gift he gives you, ( sometimes he has Dragon brain and gives you a Shiny rock or nick nack he randomly saw and made him think of you)

Piers

Eh, to be completely honest Piers doesn't care one way or the other; if going on dates means a lot to you, then sure, he'll do it to make you happy. But Piers can spend time with you in any way he wants to without any of that fancy stuff.

A guy like him, oblivious and doesn't know what romance even is, would be very in trouble on a first date, lucky for him, his sister has his back whether he wants help or not. What kind of sister would she be if she let her brother crash and burn? And Raihan can supply good spots in Galar that have good reviews and are good dating spots

Piers classifies anything as a date, even if it's just you, too, having a lazy Sunday on the couch.

Peirs ideal date if you were to ask him he, would probably say being at home with his partner eating pizza and watching The Great Galar Bake Off.

But once in a blue moon, Piers will knock you out of the park with something you never expect from him. Taking you outside of the town and watching the Stars or Have you listen to a short song he wrote about you. You have no idea where is this comes from because usually, your Piers has no romantic bone in his body.

If you would like to take him out somewhere, sure, he'll bite. He doesn't mind either way.

Piers has a tendency to be a little protective over people he really likes.

-he wasnt really sure where he should take you for your guys's date (hes trying his best!). maybe a cute little walk around Alola or the Team Skull base so he could show you off to the others. the date would kinda be all over the place, you guys would be in the forest for a walk, then at the beach, then the next you guys are suddenly in the city looking at all the shops.

-and while the two of you are walking he always has an arm around you and quietly observing you. he would notice how your eyes would light up when you found something you like but then turn away because it would be too expensive, he would get it for you either way. it doesnt matter how he gets it, just as long as your happy.

-he teases you a bit during the date, i mean of course he would he’s Guzma. Constantly complimenting how you look and how good you would look in certain clothing you look at. something he does is that he pokes your sides while you guys are walking and laughs a bit as you yelp.

-this moment is special to him, so if anyone dare to ruin this date with you, whether it be a Team Skull member, a trainer, or whoever, they will face his wrath. how dare someone waste the two of your time together.

-once it gets dark the two of you just sit down staring at the moon together, enjoying each others presence wether it be in silence or not. he adores the way the moon reflects upon your face and eyes. he does not regret spending the day in your presence, nor will he ever forget it.

-like Guzma, he likes to have you close, so he intertwines his hand with yours while the two of you are out together. and when the two of you are walking together he loves to poke or lightly pinch your cheeks! he also teases you a bit.

-anything you gaze at he automatically buys for you. you can looks at a top or Pokemon plush for a split second and hes already in the store buying it fir you. you tell him that he doesnt have to but he still does it anyways, you basically have to pry him out of the store. but of course he doesnt mind buying you things, he would do anything for you of course.

-he loves seeing how happy you look when you walk around looking at all the amazing shops and such. just looking at you brings him happiness and hes greatful that hes able to spend times like this with you for the rest of his life.

-whenever you guys stop by an arcade or any place where you can win things or play he acts like a child. he drags you along so he could show off how good he is at these games, and of course he wins you more gifts than you already need. i can also see him getting really competitive with kids who are playing the same game as him.

-after that as i said before he would preform a special concert just for you. but he understand that you're tired so itll just be a slow song. hed take the lead a bit before letting his Pokemon continue the song so he could dance with you. then hed sit down and rest with you while continuing to sing- aaaaaaa how cute!

-i have the biggest headcannon that he likes to give people trinkets or souvenirs, so he would totally give you small creepy cute trinkets during your date. and with you the amount of trinkets he gives you is doubled.

-when looking at you laying next to him he just couldnt help but think about how lucky he was to be able to go out with you, he hopes to do it more often and that it never ends

-once you guys arrived at the festival he kinda let you take the lead because he could see how excited you were. every now and then you would stop to look at what people were selling and he would buy them for you! he would also buy food that he thinks youd like and the two of you would share it the way a couple would (not in a weird way but the lovey dovey way they do) and the others would tease you.

-you know those cute scenes in anime where the guy would stop the girl and put a hair pin in her hair all romantically? yeah he did that with you. or he would do that with a shirt pin! and the hair pin/shirt pin would be matching with his outfit.

-when it was time for fireworks he stood behind you an gently grabbed your head towards the sky to see the fireworks. since he didnt want to stand for too long he lead you towards a bench where the two of you sat down together admiring the flashy fire in the sky with hands intertwined.

-it couldn't have spent his time any better, time doesnt matter too him as long as youre around.

Everyone's got that same question to ask you, how did YOU date both Raihan and Piers, two of Galar's regions most sought after influencer boyfriends? Those two were always known as an exclusive set, having not sought after anyone in consecutive years!

Well first off the whole reason why the two idiots even started dating each was directly because of your influence.

Before you were put in the spotlight of dating two of Galar's well known leaders, you basically helped Piers get the courage he needed to confess to Raihan, having been his friend prior to his gym leader career.

Piers would always sigh and lament, forlornly staring out the rainy weather out from his room that he had fallen into a sort of, Beauty and the Beast situation.

Piers had his eye on Raihan for a while since both were picked to be gym leaders at around the same time from a list of candidates. The two were known to be close friends at the time, but after they became gym leaders, both of them had grown distant.

Piers took it as some kind of puppy love crush that he had on Raihan but it's clear that he never really got over it.

So you being the little investigative twerp you are, you decide to befriend Raihan to get to know him as well. Raihan agrees to be your friend cheerfully but you start to note that he asks a lot of questions about Piers.

How is he? Is he doing alright?

You ask Raihan why he cares about Piers though they don't speak anymore and Raihan reveals a secret about the selection process of being gym leaders.

Spikemuth is known to be the least popular city in all of Galar because there's no stadium to dynamax there.

There seems to be something more to this story though. You investigate and question your two friends a bit more about what happened.

On Raihan's side, when they were both selected to be gym leaders, Piers brushed him off and left him without closure.

On Piers' side, he thought Raihan looks down on him/pities him for being Spikemuth's leader after overhearing the other candidates complain about Spikemuth. He never willingly chose to be Spikemuth's leader but once he was selected he had to do something to help the locals, which led to his music career down the line. Due to his position, Piers was misled into thinking that Raihan thinks ugly of him.

You get the two idiots in the same room and just get them to talk.

Their dating starts off slow and steady, it had been a couple of years since they last saw each other outside of work, but they eventually did become an item because of your encouragement.

But eventually, they start asking you to tag along to their dates. You're weirded out by it but they're your friends so why not. You're more than happy to spend time with them, even if it's on their date.

but then they happen more often. The three of you together.

You eat together, you play together, you take care of your Pokemon together, it all starts becoming very domestic.

On an afternoon when you're sitting down, with the two coming to join you, you openly ask, "Hey are we dating," and Raihan immediately goes, "Yes."

You immediately turn your head to look at both of them. "Well it would have been nice if either of you told me!!!!" You start hurling sofa pillows at them. Raihan starts laughing while Piers immediately starts apologizing.

Since you couldn't decide who you should kiss first, they decide for you. Piers on your left, Raihan on your right, kissing your face cheeks at the same time.

SUMMARY: This chapter is SOOO long omg. There’s lots of lore building and tension growing so there’s that. I didn’t proofread any of this so if there are any serious mistakes please let me know!

The rain had seemingly let up by the time you had gotten up and around. It was gloomy and foreboding outside, casting an ominous shadow over the region. Something was amiss, clearly, but you couldn’t figure out what. As Leon was getting up, you called Allister to check up on him. Thankfully he was alright. He told you the idea of doing your battles in place of you was scary at first, but he found it to be fun once he got out of his head. You smiled at the thought. If only you could witness him coming out of his shell.

“I’ll be by to visit today, alright? But then I’ve got to go away for work,” you told him before hanging up. Your heart was heavy, and you missed him. It put you at ease to know that he was enjoying himself, but you couldn’t rest just yet.

While Leon was getting ready, you decided to take a look at the list of current gym challengers. Today would be the last day Allister would fill in for you, so you wanted to know what you had waiting for you when he was done. Upon looking at the list, you realized that four young challengers were ranked together. It seemed that they were moving along together, be it intentional or not. You found it interesting. However, you found the fact that they had flown through the first three gyms together in the span of a single day to be much more interesting.

“Leon?” You called, getting a grunt in response. “Did you know that your brother has already passed Kabu’s challenge?” It sounded even stranger when said out loud. How had these fifteen year olds tackled these gyms head on so fast? You knew Kabu’s battle was far from easy. They must know their stuff.

“He what?!” He burst into your room, without a shirt. His hair was pulled into a high ponytail, accentuating his face. Obviously he didn’t care, since he took your Rotom phone right out of your hand to look at the list. His eyes shone with nothing but pride as he looked between you and the list. “I knew he could do it! So where’s he off to next? Stow-on-Side?” You nodded and he grinned.

“Actually, we should be heading out too. It’s best that we beat the rush of travelers heading to Ballonlea to watch Allister,” you stood up and gestured to his body with a sigh. “You might want a shirt though. It’s rather cold outside today,” you teased and he chuckled nervously.

He left and returned with his shirt, fixing the long sleeves before joining you by the door. The two of you left the hotel quickly, doing your best to avoid getting caught by any crowds. Thankfully, you were able to escape out of the side door and grab a flying taxi before anyone noticed the two of you were together.

The wind whipped against your face harshly, sending brutal shivers throughout your body. Leon seemed to be just as cold, seeing as his cheeks were a rosy shade of red. The poor guy’s teeth were chattering as you flew. It didn’t take long until you reached in Ballonlea, and you made sure to tip your cabbie before rushing in the direction of your house. Leon followed after you in excited silence, waving at any and all people he passed on the way.

“Let’s stop here to warm up and get changed. It’s too cold for us to be wearing only one layer,” you explained as you led him inside your house. From the looks of it, you had just missed Allister. He was probably heading out to the gym that very moment. “Go sit by the fireplace and defrost some while I go look for some proper clothes.” Leon nodded and went to the living room to wait for you.

Gordie had sent you some winter gear ages ago so you could visit him in Circhester, but you never got around to using it. That was around the time he and his mother had a huge falling out and he distanced himself from the gym. You frowned as you looked down at the gear in your hands. You’d have to pay him a visit when this was all said and done.

“I don’t know if this’ll fit you, but I’ve found some gear,” you threw one of the sets at him halfheartedly. “Just layer it over the clothes you have on now. I’ll be back in a second.” You left him alone once again to get changed. The uniform you put on clung to your body, highlighting your body in just about all the right ways. A frown came to your lips as you stared at yourself in the mirror. At least you’d be warm…

You threw on a sweatshirt over it for good measure and headed to grab Leon. He wore a smile, greeting you with an excited wave. What had gotten into him to make him so giddy?

“So where exactly is this shrine?” He asked as you led him out of the house. You directed him behind the building, pointing at a hardly visible trail that led to a hidden part of the Glimwood Tangle.

“It’s back here,” you moved a branch out of the way and looked down. This path hadn’t been traveled in years, and it gave you so much nostalgia to set foot on it once again. “I’d be careful if I were you. There’s no telling what Pokémon live back here.” The man nodded in silence. It seemed that now the two of you were actually here that he was taking things much more seriously.

The path you followed was old and hardly worn. Overgrown plants and glowing mushrooms were littered on either side of it, their luminance allowing you to see the movement that came with the wild Impidimps of the area. Every now and then the cry of a much stronger Pokémon would meet your ears, echoing into the Glimwood Tangle and causing the other resting Pokémon to scatter. The path seemed to go on forever. Due to the plant life covering the ground, it was hard to see if you were heading the right way or not.

Trees began to thin out the closer you and Leon got to the end. Then the shrubbery stopped appearing. You found it odd but continued on nonetheless. Leon was beginning to look uncomfortable, as if there was something about the area that was putting him on edge. You were about to ask him what was wrong when you the end of the path. However, something felt off about it.

“Stay on guard…” you whispered, taking your time with your steps.

A clearing met the end of the path. It was dead, and had been for quite some time by the looks of it. At the far end of the clearing stood a large stone archway. An obscure looking statue rested beneath it, pointed upwards to the sky. The statue was incredibly long and serpentine with most of its ‘body’ forming a massive coil. Various spikes came out of its back, curling inwards and pointing downward. The thing had an intense and intimidating aura, and the sight of it alone sent shivers down your spine. You felt drawn to it, almost like you had a connection to the deity the statue was dedicated to.

Carefully, you took a step forward, leading Leon towards the shrine. “This is it…” you said in awe. It looked much more amazing up close. Leon stepped forward and placed his hand on the base of the statue.

“What is this? It’s so… strange,” he turned to look at you, confused by the expression you wore. You were blankly staring at the shrine, trying to figure out your odd connection to the statue. You were worried that if you touched it, something would happen, so you took a step back.

“Just observe it so we can go back and record our data.” The atmosphere was beginning to make you feel uneasy. Something about it seemed almost sinister, and you couldn’t stand it. The dead clearing itself was a bad omen. You should’ve known better.

Your eyes traveled back to the grandiose statue. Just who could’ve crafted the hauntingly magnificent shrine? Certainly not anyone of recent years. The thing looked far too ancient. It was meant to represent a being beyond fathom, something incomprehensible to those familiar with the tale of the two kings.

“Do you feel that?” Leon asked, tearing you away from your trance. The forest floor shook slightly, causing the leaves on the trees to rustle.

“No but I can hear it…” You turned away from Leon, your eyes scanning the tree line. A loud, pained howl met your ears, sending shivers down your spine. The sound was unlike any other. It was a call so foreign and so powerful that you couldn’t help but feel in awe.

Then, as quickly as it came, the presence vanished.

It made you feel small, but only for a moment. The natural order of the world around you quickly returned, the sound of the normal chirps and calls of wild Pokémon echoing around you.

“So what’s the deal with Eternatus?” You asked, finally turning back around. Leon was taking photos of the statue, but turned to look at you upon hearing your voice. His silence was your cue to continue on. “If it’s underneath the Hammerlocke stadium, and Rose is trying to awake it, then what’s keeping it asleep?” Your eyes moved to the statue as you spoke. Something about the statue reminded you of your dream the night before.

“I’m not sure. He offered to show me where everything was, but I turned him down,” he shrugged, climbing up onto the base of the statue with a huff.

“Be careful.”

“Careful is my middle name.” He stumbled slightly, giving you a sheepish look and chuckling. “There’s something about this thing that makes me feel like I’ve seen it before… and I’ve never even been this deep into the Glimwood Tangle before.” His hands moved to explore the stone.

“I think…” you sighed, recalling the distinct image you saw in your dream. Eternatus was a beautifully horrific sight, but the statue of the shrine depicted more than that. It showed something beyond the beauty and the horror. It showed the power of a god. You shook your head and frowned. “Never mind.”

The statue was, in fact, Eternatus. But you couldn’t tell him just yet. There was research you needed to do before you could even think of explaining things to Leon.

“I think we should head back,” Leon hopped down and grinned. He must’ve found something that he liked. You weren’t surprised. The statue was magnificent and ancient, just as the shrine that surrounded it. There was no way he couldn’t have pulled anything from it.

“Lead the way.” A shiver ran down your spine as you turned your back on the statue. You felt like you were being warned. However, the warning was unclear. It was all ominous.

The memory of Opal taking you back to the clearing came back to you.

At the time the clearing was green and full of life. You had been under her wing for roughly two months, and she deemed you ready for the next step of her training. To her, if you were going to take over Ballonlea’s gym, then you needed to understand the history of the town. She showed you the shrine, but had very little explanation of what it stood for. The most she could tell you was that it was erected during the age of the two kings. Other than that, it was a mystery that you were told to keep secret.

Cold air forced goosebumps to appear on your skin. That memory was one that you weren’t too fond of. Despite it being a beautiful day, you remembered being terribly afraid of the area. There was something about the statue…

“Leon I need to tell you something—“ you groaned, covering your mouth as you walked behind him. The man looked over his shoulder curiously. Leave it to you to not keep your mouth shut. “Uh… umm… well… you see…” you dragged it out as long as you possibly could. With a sigh, you straightened yourself up and caught up with him. “I saw Eternatus in my dream last night. I know we don’t know what it looks like, but I know what I saw was really Eternatus. The statue… I felt drawn to it. Leon I— I think it’s trying to reach out to me if not you,” you paused, “I planned on keeping it to myself, but I couldn’t. We’re in this together, right?”

“You’re saying the statue is Eternatus? That means there were people worshipping Eternatus before the two kings took it down…” he trailed off in thought. “You’re drawn to it? If that’s the case… then why?” Suddenly he turned to look at you, excitement shining in his eyes. “Please tell me more!”

“Well… everything was dark. There was a fog surrounding us. It floated above the ground and just… looked at me. Then everything got bright and I woke up,” you explained awkwardly. You were starting to wish that you hadn’t said anything. “But… the Eternatus in my dream looked very different from the Eternatus depicted in the statue. The one in my dream was large, but smaller than the statue. It looked like a much more… raw form of the Pokémon.” You did your best to describe it all to him, but it wasn’t getting you anywhere.

“Could it be reaching out to you? Like what happened to Hop and Gloria?” The path ended, the sight of your house now meeting your eyes. It was too cold to stay outside, so you figured you’d just head back inside. Leon followed after you this time. He was excited, but you couldn’t really tell why.

“I guess. But I don’t know if Eternatus is capable of telepathic communication. If it’s trying to convey a message, it’s going to have a hard time,” you sighed, opening the back door to your house. Your eyes lingered on Leon’s form. Something about the sight made your heart clench. “My point is, I haven’t a clue as to why it would pick me. I don’t even know if it meant to pick me.”

Leon watched as you closed the door. The two of you were now in a room no bigger than a flying taxi, standing face to face as you both shivered. Heavy pants filled the air, and your hearts pounded as your bodies adjusted to the heat. Your cheeks were rosy, he noticed. He also noticed how your eyes refused to meet his. It felt strange. He could feel his heart pound within his chest. Golden eyes finally met yours as he stood there, waiting for you to say something else.

As intimate of a moment this could have been, it was painfully awkward. You weren’t sure of what to do, and it led to you simply just staying quiet. Leon also had no idea of what to say. He didn’t even know what to think.

He just wanted to stare at you.

“A Pokémon as powerful as Eternatus wouldn’t make a mistake as simple as that…” he finally spoke, smiling slightly. “It’d be like saying that Arceus never meant to create Galar,” he paused to take another good look at your rosy cheeks. “Even if it can’t fully give you its message, there’s definitely something it’s trying to tell you.”

“Maybe…” the feeling of your phone buzzing startled you slightly. You pulled it out, looking carefully at the message that had been sent to you. “What the hell…” you looked back up at Leon and then back down at your phone. “Your brother and his friend are absolutely soaring through the gym challenge. Do these kids not know failure?” You were shocked, really. Just this morning they were off to Stow-on-Side, and now they were off to Spikemuth. If Piers didn’t stump them, that’d mean that you were next.

“How far have they gotten?” He leaned forward to see your screen, placing his hand against the wall above your head to keep himself upright.

“They’re going to see Piers.” You eyed his arm, slowly trailing along it to get to his body. Oh he was close… why in the hell was he so close…

“PIERS?!?” He shouted, grabbing your phone and staring at the message that Piers himself had sent you. Sure enough, they had beat both Melony and Gordie. He was stunned. Slowly, he reread the message, but stopped upon noticing a particular detail. He went back and read that part again. And again. “Is he asking you on a date?” He asked, confused. Leon had always been under the impression that Piers wasn’t too into women.

You snatched your phone up quickly, blushing. “That is none of your business!” You huffed, crossing your arms and opening the door to the outside. Cold air hit you in the face, but it didn’t slow you down. You gestured for him to follow after you. “I think we’re warm enough. It’s time to head back to Wyndon.”

“So he is asking you out!” Leon exclaimed, watching you with wide and curious eyes. “Are you going to go?” If he were being honest, he was hoping that you’d say no. If you said no, that meant he got to hang out with you more at the hotel. If you said no, that meant he got to go out on more adventures with you. If you said no— oh what the hell. What was he even thinking?!

“First of all, it’s not a date,” you rolled your eyes, still blushing. “I donate money to Spikemuth’s charity fund every now and then. Piers always told me that he wanted to make it up to me. That’s what that is.” You tipped the cabbie for the flying taxi, passing him the cash with a raised brow. It was hush money. Leon sat beside you inside the taxi, looking at you the whole way. “Second of all, I don’t even know if I’ll be able to make it. If those kids beat Piers tomorrow, then I’ll have to be at my gym. And who’s to say how many times they’ll have to challenge me? I might not even be able to go out.” It was then that you noticed how intense Leon’s stare had gotten. “What?”

“So do you have any personal ties to Spikemuth?” He tilted his head.

“Why does it matter?”

“I don’t know a whole lot about you outside of what’s on your league cards. Can’t I get to know my friend?” Good one Leon. Way to cover it up.

“Ugh… no I don’t have any personal connections to Spikemuth. I was born in Ballonlea. I’ll probably die there too,” you shrugged. “You know, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say that you were jealous of Piers.” Leon tensed at your words, looking straight forward almost immediately.

“I am not! I’m uh… just… um…” he groaned, hanging his head in defeat. “A little— but not for the reason you think, I swear!” He panicked, moving his arms wildly as he spoke. You giggled, rolling your eyes.

“Anyways, that brother of yours is big news. Articles about him and his buddies are being published everywhere,” you leaned back, looking down as Wyndon was now coming into view. “They might beat your record, you know.”

“My record?” Poor guy. He was still horribly flustered. He couldn’t even think properly.

“You went through the gym challenge in the span of five days. They’re two days in and they’ve already got three gyms left. If Piers can’t stump them, then I don’t know what’s in store for me,” you turned to look at him, your tone serious. “You might have your title stripped away from you.”

The taxi landed behind the hotel as you had requested. This way the press wouldn’t be able to get anything on the two of you. You thanked the cabbie and went inside. Leon followed after you.

“I just might,” he shrugged, seemingly over his embarrassment. He wore a bright, gentle smile. The thought excited him a little. “Either way I’m going to have a champion time!” He hopped and struck his signature pose. In the middle of the hallway. Thankfully nobody saw him as you pushed him towards the elevator.

“Leon, you idiot! People can see you!” You hissed through your teeth. He chuckled in response, looking back and giving you a large, cheesy grin.

“Sorry!”

What a dork.

Chairman Rose looked down at the city of Wyndon. In the far distance he could see the towering height of Hammerlocke’s gym. Beneath it, hidden away in a cocoon of rock, rested the thing he was striving to wake. Rose had no clue how long it was going to take for Eternatus to rise, but he was willing to wait. It was just another step in securing the prosperity of the region’s future.

Dynamax Pokémon were now becoming a frequent occurrence in the wild areas of the region. He had seen dozens of journalists cover it, each one adding their theory as to why it was happening. Each time, Rose would chuckle, turn the page, and sip on his tea. Those journalists couldn’t have been more wrong. They were influencing themselves, coming up with things on the spot without any real reason just so they had something to believe.

He found it amusing.

The sound of footsteps met his ears. Heels click-clacking on tile. Oleana.

“What is it?” He asked, looking over his shoulder at her with a gentle, but fake, smile.

“It appears that child you endorsed has fallen off entirely. We pulled him from the gym challenge, but it seems that he is nowhere to be found.” She folded her hands neatly in front of her, maintaining perfect posture as she spoke. Ah yes. How could he forget? That child— Bede. He had been kicked from the challenge for destroying an ancient mural in Stow-on-Side in Rose’s honor.

A frown graced his lips. He had such high aspirations for that child too. Bede reminded him of himself when he was younger, which was partly why he made the decision to adopt him. But if he could no longer be found, then had he failed his duty as Bede’s adoptive parent?

“I see…” he stared out the window. “Do not waste your time trying to find him. We cannot have any interferences with the gym challenge…” Rose sighed. It was too late to do anything. Plus, the challengers nearing your gym, he felt no need to make a move. Everything was set to play out as he desired.

Bede going missing was only a minor setback.

“You may go now, Oleana.” He waved her away lazily, not once moving his eyes away from the sight of the city. He knew that Bede would be found at some point. Whether or not he chose to come back was truly up to him. Though, it did hurt him to think about. Bede was his son. And, for a short while, Bede was his whole world. Rose hung his head at the thought. He was going to need a drink if he was going to be able to sleep tonight.

Arceus, he was such a mess.

Rose turned his back to the region, his eyes focused on the platform in the center of the room. It was getting late. At some point he was going to have to go to sleep. At some point he was going to have to close his eyes… oh how he hated the sights he saw when he closed his eyes.

The responsibility of his role was finally taking its toll on him. Truth be told, he really didn’t know how he had made it this far into his career. He had lost so many valuable relationships along the way… Peony, Bede— even his parents had stopped talking to him before they passed. Soon Oleana would leave and he’d be on his own again.

But he wouldn’t be alone once Eternatus awoke. Yes… he could see it now. Eternatus would be the one to save him. He nearly laughed at the thought. He was supposed to be doing what was best for the region, not him.

He watched as a droplet of water landed on the floor beneath him. Was there a leak? No… the sky was perfectly clear. Rose brought a hand to his eyes, wiping away the tears that were beginning to form. His knees felt weak, and his head light. He hadn’t been this overcome with emotion since he gained the title of Chairman.

He missed his brother.

You sat on the edge of your temporary bed staring at the message from Piers. For some reason you felt overly compelled to accept his offer. The idea made you incredibly nervous, seeing as you hadn’t been on a ‘date’ in quite a while. Despite that, you didn’t want to leave Leon by himself. You just couldn’t bear the idea of leaving him alone, even though he had been dealing with the Eternatus problem long before you got involved.

You had grown quite attached to Leon. He seemed to perfectly compliment your personality, seemingly working out to be the missing piece for your puzzle. Though, you didn’t like how quickly the two of you grew close. You understood that stressful situations like this often led to false feelings and such, but you didn’t like the idea that it had happened to you.

The relationship you had with him was like something out of a book. It just didn’t feel real enough for you to buy into it. None of it felt real.

Doubt filled your mind as you sat there, your eyes still focused on Piers’ message. You frowned. There were still things you needed to work out before you could truly confirm how you felt about Leon. Arceus you didn’t even know his last name and you were crushing on him!? You buried your face in your hands, groaning as you leaned back into the bed.

Thankfully Leon was asleep, meaning that he couldn’t hear you struggle in the room over. The sound of his snores echoed throughout the hotel suite. You needed to get to bed, but you just couldn’t.

You lowered your hands and looked at the message from Piers. Maybe if you went out with him you’d be able to work out your feelings for Leon. Slowly, your thumbs moved to type out a response to his text. You hesitated to send it, even going as far as leaning your phone away from you as you pressed the button. Once it sent, you felt slight dread wash over you. What had you done?

Piers responded in no time, despite it being late. A shy smile made its way to your lips as you read it.

Maybe you were doing the right thing.

With a sigh, you set your phone on the nightstand and turned off your lamp. Darkness flooded your room instantly. You could hear the soft song of the night outside, the sound slowly lulling you to sleep.

Unfortunately, your dreams were interrupted by the same sights as the night before. Eternatus floated in front of you, its menacing aura causing you to take a step back. The thing was massively intimidating. You didn’t want to be around it longer than you had to.

“What do you want?” You asked, trying your hardest to sound confident. It simply looked at you. “Can you even answer me?” You felt stupid for saying that out loud. There was no point in talking to something that couldn’t even respond to you.

Eternatus turned around, moving deeper into the fog that surrounded you. Without thinking, you followed after it. The scenery around you slowly began to change from dark nothingness to an ancient form of Galar. The Pokémon had led you to a lush clearing that looked like a much livelier version of the one you were at earlier. Smaller Pokémon species ran out of the area, hiding from the sight of Eternatus. As they scattered they passed through you. You didn’t exist in this world, which meant that anything outside of Eternatus couldn’t see you.

The Pokémon stopped moving, its gaze fixed on a statue. It was still being constructed, but you knew what it was. You were sure Eternatus knew too. It was a shrine. The people of Ancient Ballonlea worshipped the very being that has brought you here. You looked at it, reaching your hand out experimentally.

The scenery changed right as you moved. The clearing still looked lively, just not as lush as before. The sound of footsteps met your ears.

“You see dear, this is a secret that our family has carried with us for generations,” the voice of an older woman echoed in your ears. You turned to look, your eyes widening at the sight.

“What is this place?” A much younger version of Opal asked the older woman— her mother. The woman chuckled patting her head gently before gesturing to the statue.

“A place of worship,” her mother led her to the statue, stopping to stand next to you. You were sure that they couldn’t see you, but the look her mother shot in your direction made you tense. The old woman simply smiled, turning to Opal and explaining the importance of the statue.

You turned to Eternatus and the sights changed again. Now the clearing was devoid of life, and the color from the greenery around it had begun to fade away. Death had overcome such a beautiful place, and it hurt you to look at. It was once to full and lively. Now there was nothing but the statue. There was no one to remember Eternatus.

“Just follow me. I’ve got quite the surprise for you.” The voice brought tears to your eyes. Opal. You turned to see her, watching as she led a younger version of yourself to the clearing. You felt your lip quiver as Opal directed you to the statue.

“It’s beautiful…” younger you whispered in awe, placing a hand on the statue. Opal nodded with a smile, looking over past your younger self and at you. She seemed to freeze when she looked in that direction, but then smiled warmly. Her reaction caused you to let out a sob. Instinctively, you reached for her, wanting nothing more than a hug from the woman who trained you. Your arms passed through her and the scenery faded away into nonexistence.

Darkness enveloped you, returning if you to the nothingness where you first met Eternatus. You couldn’t do anything but sob. Your arms were wrapped around yourself, your head hung as tears stained your shirt. Oh how you had missed Opal. She was like a mother to you when you needed one most. She was your world.

Eternatus roared, pulling you out of your reminiscence. It seemed like there was more it wanted to show you. However, as you opened your mouth to speak, you found yourself unable to make noise. Panicking, you grasped at your throat, looking up at the Pokémon worriedly. Your vision grew blurry and everything slowly faded to black.

You sat upright in your bed, your eyes wide. You looked down at your hands and frowned. Opal had seen you. All those years ago, it was you she had been looking at.

You turned to look out the window. It was gloomy. Another storm was brewing.

With a groan, you stretched and got out of the bed. You needed to go for a walk. Maybe the cold night air would help you think? You sighed as you got changed. Once your shoes were laced, you quietly left the suite and snuck out of the hotel.

Rose tower stood tall in the distance, but you turned your back to it as you began your walk to the flying taxi. You figured going back to Ballonlea would help you sort out your emotions some.
