6. Overdose — Trickle

I've known from the start that it all would fall apart Heart-broken after dark I'm such a fool for thinking anything has love for me, hah Overdose, hold me close, darling Feeling so low, falling Close my eyes and let me leave my blues behind

This is actually a piece I finished a few months ago; I had wanted to experiment with a more solid line brush, color palettes, and cropped compositions, and I figured doing an album-cover-style piece would be good practice for it! I meant to post it back when i finished it in June, because I'm honestly super proud of how it came out! But i just never got around to it— super happy I get to share it with you all now :]

Hi Jonny. Were you at all inspired by A Question Of Balance by The Moody Blues for other things you’ve written? I ask because your reference to Melancholy Man in Thirteen Storeys prompted me to listen to the full album a while back and I feel like I find new parallels between the album and your other works with each listen. I’d also be very interested in any thoughts you have on the album. Thanks!

I mean, I grew up on my dad's 70s prog collection (my first gig at age 13 was Uriah Heep's 30th anniversary show), so Moody Blues were pretty formative for me, yeah. They weren't quite up there with Pink Floyd, Deep Purple or Uriah Heep, which were my favourites, but "Melancholy Man" specifically has always stuck with me, and its definitely found its way onto more than one of my writing playlists.

#Course a few years later I hit my teenage power metal phase #Which I still get a bit of a kick out of #But they never stuck with me quite as much as those early prog albums
