#Peter Pettigrew the traitor already knew Reg wouldn’t make it out in time

Regulus comes out wearing a black crossover skort, grey sleeveless crop top with black knee high laced up combat boots. To top it off he has make-up on; baby pink eyeshadow adorned with small yet sharp winged eyeliner. Tinted light red lipstick.

Regulus, twirling in place for James: So? Looks good?

James backing Regulus up to bathroom door he just came out of. Places his hand on the door next to his head. James quietly and hungrily eyes Regulus up and down.

Regulus, knowing what’s about to happen, turns around to open the door: No. Stop. This is my outfit for the concert you’re not-!

James pushes the door close.

James, without turning his head and continues to drink Regulus in: Love you, Pete. But get out.

Regulus, begging Peter with his eyes: No. Peter I swear to g-

Peter without having to be told twice already opening the front door: Will wait for you in the car! Mwah!

Regulus ended up being driven to the concert by James instead. James also has to buy Regulus 10 albums to compensate for ruining his outfit and makeup that day.

James is okay with that. (He will do it again.)

It was the first of November 1981

Peter Pettigrew was dead.

During the evening of the day before, the Potters had a visit from Peter Pettigrew. He had gone to them in a hurry, the guilt of betraying his best friends playing on his mind. He had to tell James and Lily the truth.

He explained to them everything, and they forgave him. No harm had come to them yet, and he was fixing it.

But as he left the Potter home, Voldemort had found out his betrayal and had killed Peter Pettigrew.

But James and Lily were safe. Harry was safe. And the traitor had been found.

But in Remus' cottage. Not all was well.

Remus was sitting on at the table, reading a book and drinking tea. The ring Sirius had given him, in the exact same spot he had dropped it in months ago.

There was a quiet knock on the door. As Remus opened it, he saw Sirius standing there. Looking down at the floor and fiddling his hands together.

Remus moved out the doorway to let him in, and Sirius moved forwards, still not glancing up at him. The gryffindor bravery had left him.

As Remus sat back on his seat, Sirius took the chance to look up, and caught eyes with Remus.

"I'm sorry." Sirius blurted out, stuck in the spot in the middle of the kitchen/dining room/lounge.

Remus sighed, "and?"

Sirius tapped his fingers against the jean of his trousers.

"I should have trusted you. I should have known you'd never betray us like that. But you have to understand, you were gone. You weren't there for me during the war, during Reg' death!! You don't know how hard it was to be out there fighting, and having to come home to no one!! Because you were merlin knows where and I assumed the worst. And I'm sorry for that but-"

Remus stood up at that moment, his fists tightly clenched and tears silently spilling from his eyes.

He scoffed, "I dont know how hard it was? I had to spend the full moons was strangers!! I had to let go of the wizarding world and live outside in the woods for months on end!! I had to join Greyback's pack!! I had to suffer constant attacks from other werewolves who had already joined Voldemort. I had to travel through Britian with no one, and ask people to join the fight, people who had lost all sanity years ago, people who tried to rip me apart on sight!! And I didn't have James standing by my side at every turn, I didn't even have a wand to protect myself!! You had a home to go back to!! I had nothing!!"

Remus dropped to the floor, his hands pulling on his hair. Sirius tried to step towards him to comfort him but relieved a glare in turn.

"Dumbledore made me have to turn into a beast to survive, he made me start to lose my sense of sanity and humanity. He tried to make me become the beast I am!! But it didn't work, because I had you... I had you at home, and I had our wedding. But... I lost my home. Every single day in those woods, every single time I got hurt and could barely breathe, I thought of you. I knew there was a traitor too, but I never thought it would be you. I trusted you... I thought you trusted me."

Remus started sobbing now, and Sirius sat opposite him, tears falling out of his eyes.

"Every single night, I'd look to the sky. Every single night. I'd look for the canis major, and I thought you'd be looking to the moon. I guess not. "

Sirius finally spoke, in the gap between Remus' words.

"I was, I know I thought you were the traitor. I shouldn't have, but it never stopped me from looking to the moon."

Remus let out a shaky laugh.

"It doesn't matter now. You were the reason I came home. You were the reason I kept going on, hanging on by that small thread...It was you."

"I'm sorry" Sirius repeated, knowing it wouldn't make a difference.

"I know." Remus said, gripping his knees.

"I'll leave, you stay here" Sirius said as he got up.

Remus lifted his eyes to meet Sirius' before he turned away towards the door.

"I'll forgive you" Remus said.

Sirius turned back around, believing every word.

"But you shouldn't"
