I tend to put Kishiar’s Awakening as my terminus post quem for Keilusa putting decision into action. While Kishiar's entire condition is obviously not fixed by Awakening, it has stabilized enough that he’s not dying in the next five years, that he’s most certainly going to outlive Keilusa – and outlive him he did! i don’t think they really apply to this question (as a non-authority i’m not sure i can speak to their level of gay sex) but i couldn’t not include them. but yeah, gay sex* has already fixed them. anna’s brand of unconditional love and support is good for nin, and i think nin’s brashness and willingness to stick up for anna/say what anna doesn’t want to is good for her.

curious how blue/yellow coding for queer characters interprets shannon's death being yellow and then the hospital was blue

(please note i wrote this on my phone then it got interesting so I went back to my computer for screenshots so just stay with me) blue and yellow meta for context

I was thinking about that making that post, because Shannon is a yellow character, she's mostly in yellows and oranges in s2, which makes her have a nice contrast with Eddie's earthy color palette, she's a very bright character, vibrant colors (yellow, orange, that pink dress from the beach scene), a lot of gold jewelry, she has multiple rings and necklaces on at all times, her nails are always done, next to Eddie being very, I don't want to say muted, but like, he's still wearing army colors, accessories are just convenient things like a watch, that creates a very nice contrast between the two because they look good together but they are very different, you can see that just by looking at them.

And I like the way she's the yellow to Eddie's green, I think at some level the show tried to show that she brightened Eddie's life even when he was scared of what it meant (like in the hospital when Chim gets stabbed she is a point of color in the room), and green and yellow are adjacent on the color wheel, they are colors that harmonize well, so them being in green and yellow for the kiss in haunted for instance shows a moment of harmony (it is the same color theory principle that makes the blue and green thing work).

But I'm pretty sure in moments where Eddie is blue, she isn't yellow, she's orange, and because those are opposite colors, it shows the contrast between them, a scene that has that combo is the scene where she goes to the house about Chris and the school and they fight, so it's putting them on opposite sides when it comes to colors too, except for her death, but all things considered I think the blue and yellow there is more about something bright on Eddie's life getting taken away from him and creating that gloomy blue feeling of grief than anything inherently queer. I think that sequence is a more basic interpretation, her death took something from Eddie he can't get back, it's a light going out moment in a sense.

Actually, I stand about what I'm saying about her death scene, but I was wrong, she is in yellow in merry exmas when he's in the uniform, and considering they are discussing their sex life affecting their relationship, it can be a total stretch but points for demi Eddie maybe? Because this is the same color palette and I don't know what to do with it right now tbh.

Because the merry exmas fight is very warm, Shannon is the one matching the lighting and background, not Eddie, and that's the opposite situation with the will reveal, the will has a very cold background that matches Eddie, and considering the merry exmas fight is about Eddie not trusting Shannon with Chris even though he loves her, and the way the will is Eddie trusting Buck with Chris because he loves him, so Shannon only gets Eddie and Buck only gets Christopher in a sense, it could give me points in the whole the mismatched lighting showing they chasing the wrong thing because Eddie and Shannow were trying to reconcile but that eventually leads to her asking for a divorce anyway, and Buck doesn't understand the love confession that being offered Chris actually is. Honestly, applying the concept that Eddie is queer so any relationship he's in is inherently queer, it could mean something. Even more considering the fountain conversation later is also blue and yellow, but they don't match the light behind them either and Buck is pushing Eddie back to Shannon.

Before her death, Siv and Gina were one of THE most affectionate couples. However, after Gina was murdered, Siv becomes much more withdrawn, trying to avoid any show of affection (and really, emotion in general) in public.

For Onnie, it depends on if it benefits her or not. If being openly affectionate with a partner (most of the time it's just fake relationships for allyships because she's the queen of the nepo babies) advances her or Eobard's goals, then yeah, but otherwise, Onnie's actually super awkward with romance and PDA.

4: Do they believe in love at first sight? Have they ever developed a crush or romantic (or erotic) fixation upon a stranger based on their appearance alone?

Siv absolutely does not believe in love at first sight. However, she 100% believes in infatuation at first sight, since that's what her and Hailey had. At that point, Siv was working as a dancer at a strip club just to make enough money to stay alive, and Hailey was bodyguarding a guy who demanded to go to said club to get his rocks off or whatever. Hailey saw Siv up there on the pole, and she was basically immediately entranced by her. Siv, when they saw Hailey, was basically the same. They ran into each other a few nights later at the grocery store and ended up hooking up right after.

Onnie doesn't believe in love at first sight. They're not even sure if they believe in love in general, even after they meet Pippa. She definitely belives in erotic love, since she's hooked up with multiple women since becoming Eobard's second in command- turns out being able to vibrate your hand fast enough to phase through someone's chest has more than one use.

Siv's kinda an idiot when it comes to flirting. The best they can give you is a really corny pick-up line, like "Hi, I'm Siv, but you can call me after work." or something like that.

Onnie definitely has to practice her flirting skills, but they're better off than their E-2002 counterpart, mostly because of the entity they're bound to, since it automatically makes her more dangerous and seductive- which is, unsurprisingly, something a lot of women are into.

5: What seduction techniques are most likely to be effective when it comes to your OC? Are there some things guaranteed to get them going? Or are they immune to such things?

If you're gonna seduce Siv, be straightforward. Since she's kind of a useless lesbian, she's often unsure whether someone's flirting or just being nice in a totally hetero way.

If you want Onnie in bed (but why tho????), your best bet is to come at her with the same angle she would. Be seductive, and flirtatious, and definitely make a very large use of innuendo and double entendres.

Siv absolutely DESPISES themself, to the point that she sees herself as an irredeemable monster, and would forgive others far worse than themself.

Onnie sees herself as above human morality, so she often judges others for the things she frequently does, like crime or being an asshole in general.

5: Which of your OC's qualities makes them the most proud? Do they think more people should be like them in this regard? Or do they quite like being rare in possessing it?

Siv's best quality- in her opinion- is her relentlessness. Once they set their mind to something, they're not backing down, no matter how much it tears her and her reality apart to achieve it.

Onnie's power is their best quality- in their opinion, at least. She sees herself as near-godlike, and would prefer to be the only one with that level of power, even if it nearly destroyed her to get it.

tolkien: tough one. honestly, i feel like due to the nature of the fandom most people have defensible readings of most characters, even if they're not my own? to the extent tht people get characters wrong it's mostly by not thinking abt them very much! I'm inclined to pick Galadriel, though, bc she's also in LotR and so you get LotR fans thinking they can speak to first or second age galadriel, and then u get silm fans overcorrecting and ignoring third age galadriel entirely, and ofc there's the various Sexist Archetypes she gets shoved into by virtue of Being A Woman. actually a Lot of the women in tolkien are characters ppl get wrong a lot. elwing! míriel! indis! idril! lúthien! niënor! haleth! And So On Forever And Ever. this is again mostly due to Simply Not Thinking About Them Very Much tho

wktd: tbh the fandom gets the wktd girls pretty solidly. no real notes here. benefits from being a small fandom for a game with Three characters all of whose issues are pretty spelled out for you & constitute the central plot.

glowfic: im gonna be honest i do not feel confident to speak for other ppl's characters and state what ppl get right/wrong..! like idk man maybe im the one getting them wrong. ppl mostly dont like... write fic or make headcanons for each others glowfic in a way where the author isnt involved in having opinions about it? so if someone was mischaracterizing a glowfic character idk how i would know rly

hannibal: all of them @_@ no one understands this show like i do and it's a perpetual frustration... im gonna throw out abigail as my answer tho bc she sooooo often gets reduced to like, part of the murder family, which ignores soooooo much of her storyline and how much she did not (uncomplicatedly) want that. her relationship with will is So So Complicated but ultimately she likes freddie more than she likes will in some ways! and at least back when i was in the fandom ... ppl dont get that or just treat it as like, a flaw or misunderstanding to be corrected.

tma: ooooo this is a tough one. honestly the fandom was big enough that it's hard for me to say No One in the fandom got characters & in a lot of cases there was the question of like, does the fandom not understand X or do i just not seek out very many fics abt X... e.g. i havent read any tma fic that got georgie very well but also i havent read any georgie-centric tma fic! kind of a skill issue on My part rly!

mcelroy + polygon content: oh this is a trip down memory lane. everyone writes taako very few people write taako well. i'm not a taako fan and instead had Cares About Less Popular Characters disease but i did feel for taako enjoyers for this. i didnt really read polygon rpf so i can't speak to that side of things.

ok actually since this one's my current special interest i'll go a bit more in depth. tommy's rude & annoying & a fighter, he very very rarely has the sort of fawn response ppl write. techno is funny but he's got emotions and he is usually acting based on those emotions; if you're writing him in s1 he's less based than you think and if you're writing him in s3 he's more based than you think. phil has traits other than being a dad and also if you can't accurately identify which characters he is and is not a dad to then you don't get to write him. puffy, niki, and hannah all have traits other than being women; no, "therapist", "girlboss", and "mom friend" don't count. purpled is not particularly a Manipulated Minor TM, he's an amoral mercenary, he's kinda fucked up by isolation but he's more like punz than he is like tommy or tubbo. none of quackity, sam, and dream are one-dimensional characters whose only trait is Sadistic Abuser but also if you write them without acknowledging that they're sadistic abusers (with the exception of writing about early dsmp/before The Horrors) then you're doing it wrong. same goes for schlatt but with the addition of "he should not under literally any circumstances talk like he's got a tumblr". karl's more of a bitch than that. so's george. wilbur is more of an asshole and less of a creep than that. i could go on literally forever the dsmp fandom gets every single character wrong & it is my burden to be right about all of them u_u

I wanted to say how your blog and comments on things really changed my opinions on many topics, even tho some of these people I admire, or tbh used to admire. Now I don’t enjoy the hype or the personality because it is fake.

I saw the recent pictures of HC and how people really lost their minds over them. For once, they looked like a normal couple, she even looked tired and was relieved her dog is okay.

People were criticizing her because she was smiling in a picture, why would she not be smiling after getting her dog and everyone else is smiling as well?!! People are truly exaggerating.

Although she has been sneaky on social media, there is no denying.

I used to think Henry was innocent and he has no saying in this, sort of against his wish. But why would this be the case every time he is with someone?

After 2 years, why would people still be in denial that he wants her around and he is the one hanging on to this relationship like a koala.

There is no way he hasn’t seen her old pictures and videos, he saw them and chose to move on, it didn’t change the way he felt about her. I also think at that time, he was really excited to be in a relationship, he’s been single for a while.

Keep in mind, I don’t think she is any different than the mean 16 years old girl, or her model mayhem account. He wanted to polish her image before going public, if not, her model mayhem account wouldn’t have been deleted, nor her entire instagram and twitter history. I think he tried to suppress the inner party girl in her, but he won’t be able to do that forever.

She will miss it as well, even if they take this in a more serious way, it contradicts everything Henry has ever said before. Which proves my point, his public image is nothing but a lie, he just gets away with things because he’s good looking.

Hell, even her entire wardrobe and clothing option has changed for him.

This is not a healthy relationship, the change in the lifestyle was not initiated by her.

I say this because anything can happen next, he is not obligated to live according to people’s rules.

I can’t say I would be happy or excited if they become more serious, that would be a bug fat lie, but keeping this narrative of ‘poor Henry’ is stupid.

I don’t like her either, and you can clearly tell at her core she is not genuine nor a good person, but neither is Henry.

That’s what makes them a match. They deserve each other.

What you said about opinions means so so much to me. I don't want to change people's opinions, I don't think my way is the only way even if I have strong views on some things. However, I believe in 2 sided conversations because life is not simple. Not at all. And I feel we are living in very dangerous times where opinions are silenced, labelled radical etc just because they are "old fashioned" or not " progressive" enough. I would love to discuss more serious topics here, and give a platform to conversations while I remain true to myself and what I believe in.

Those pictures you mentioned were so surprising to me too because they truly looked like a real, happy, ordinary, normal couple instead of the SM push. It was refreshing.

That is a really important step to be a healthy fan to realize he is not innocent (blackmailed, possessed etc). He is a grown-up who has his reasons to be with her. Clarity is the most important thing in my opinion. To see people who they are. You have to imagine them as silent movies. What they say is non-existent, it's not important. What they do, how they behave... that is what you should focus on. Celebrity or not. That should be the standard.

He definitely has a free pass because he is good-looking. This is the privilege of beauty. This exists. In Hollywood, this is the basis of everything, but you can find it in the smallest village too. Beautiful people have an amazing advantage in life.

I think NV could be different or could be the same, I don't want to judge her anymore. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt. Not because of her or him but because of myself. I just don't want to think about someone poorly without any hard evidence. She seemed a pretty awful teen and if I knew her back then I wouldn't be her friend today, that's for sure. But I have to think some people are capable of evolving. Because I am trying to do this every day. If I can, others can too.

i have not posted on here in a while. idk various things have happened. but heres the most recent stuff.

this is sorta fresh (literally 2 days ago) but im mostly over it i think? i made a hinge account and briefly talked to this girl and i liked talking to her but i think i just dont know how to rizz someone up, or maybe ik and i dont have the courage to do it so i gotta play nice girl from the start. and i think our second phone call i was just kinda lacking in energy and i wasn’t texting her too often either. but at the end of it she was like lets just be friends going forward.

i havent really had any experiences before, like real ones where i was the one initiating everything, so it hurt, kinda like getting rejected for a job interview. i was like ig im just not outgoing or funny or charming enough but damn we talked like twice on the phone, we never even met up, that quick huh.

tbh i think i initiated slightly more and she was less interested and she also made it pretty clear she wasnt sure about getting into a relationship. idk its not worth analyzing. we do have a lot of similar tastes but if she wants to be friends she has to initiate and i might blow her off anyway i dont feel like talking to her anymore lol. or maybe ill respond but just really slowly. ik its giving nice guy/friendzoned. ehhh i might respond she was nice/friendly enough i just need time to get over it fully. i think this is a lets see how im feeling in a week situation. to be fair sometimes good friendships pop up out of bad experiences for me like i thought D was a huge dick when i first met him but we got along well for the time we knew each other

idk she hasnt responded to any messages frequently for the past month so shes probably really busy but ugh i fucking hate this. i just wish she’d check in for once like “hey sorry ive just been really busy the past month and havent had the energy or time to respond but hopefully ill have some time soon”. cuz the thing is its kinda typical of her to flake/be distant/antisocial. like after we graduated hs she ignored my messages for a month and she promised not to do that again. and when we hung out for the last time before i moved for uni she overslept and i think shes done that two or three times since. its really frustrating when we dont get to see each other than often. so if i ask her its gonna be like this is an isolated incident but its not and im prob not gonna see her again after i graduate uni bc i wanna move across the country. and we almost never call bc everytime i ask she doesnt want to. i think thats just her hating calling but how tf else are we supposed to stay in contact when we live in different cities??? and texting for hours on end is fking annoying? same difference ik a bit hypocritical there but also, calling means u can multitask but texting means u have to focus solely on texting unless you wanna respond every 2 hours or even worse, every 5 minutes, theres no flow unless you pay full attention to texting.

and the thing that sucks even harder. is that we had a mutual friend, j, who was her BESTIE for middle school and almost all of highschool. (i had a crush on this chick btw but never told her and i kinda stopped talking to her in senior year). and j did the same fucking thing like she decided she didnt wanna talk to people she knew before highschool anymore and basically just slowly cut s out of her life. and s was so upset abt it she told me abt it a lot

see the thing is if i do confront her about ALL of this, i  think its gonna go the worst way possible. like we will slowly drift apart and im gonna lose my closest friend who probably doesnt even consider me at least one of her closest friends. and then im fucked. i mean im not fucked but im starting from ground zero.its really hard not having someone you know you can rely on. altho maybe shes not the most reliable and ive been coping by pretending im independent and dont need anyone for emotional shit. maybe im just catastrophizing. like on one hand, i truly am unsure enough abt our friendship that idk if she’d make an effort after i move real far. but on the other hand i am a known pessimist and i suck at this people bullshit. so idk if i should ask or not.

he’s an ‘02 liner, but early ‘02 (january 9th) and he’s very mature for his age

( ABUSE TW ) mainly bc he has been through a lot, namely just...a cycle of abuse. his mom had/has a lot of issues and got divorced and married three different times so far, to a shitty man each time, who were all abusive in their own ways (aside from one who was just a Regular Old Asshole)

he managed to escape the toxic wasteland of his life in busan to seoul last year when he got into snu

except he didn’t actually go to snu, he lied to everyone, broke up with his boyfriend, moved, and decided he was too much of a fucking mess and that he needed to work on himself first or else he was just going to absolutely crumble

so he started picking up a bunch of part time jobs + his occasional allowance from his family (who was never poor, luckily) and started going to therapy

he works as a waiter and at lotte world and then kinda makes money doing other random jobs. namely ghostwriting things for people (essays, mainly)

but he also ghostwrites music for his band that he’s been in for several months now. their lead singer is an asshole and attention whore and joomi just wants to write from his heart and would feel too vulnerable if people knew He wrote the songs, so he lets their lead singer claim the songs he writes. the lead singer also Named the band so yes, the band is named eat schmidt, no, joomi doesn’t know who schmidt is quit asking please

joomi fell back on music a lot as he grew up. he can play guitar and is really good at piano and can pick things up pretty fast. he plays keyboard in the band right now but is confident that he could fill in anywhere (and he wants to be the lead vocalist tbh...but that’s just a distant dream. don’t worry joomi i will give you your band frontman arc.)

honestly i started this intro last night and am picking it up now tonight and i have no memory whatsoever of what i wanted to write but ok

personality-wise, he’s not exactly Prickly, but he is pretty stoic and tends to keep to himself. he’s good at holding conversation tho, especially if it’s about weird deep philosophical shit (best of luck to me writing it) and actually a very caring guy tho he’s Also a tsundere LMAO very sarcastic, but also very wise and pretty good at giving advice. he Likes listening to people and when people open up to him but he tends to offer a lot of unsolicited advice so he may not be the Best listener he would be very upset if he knew this though. 

he’s also kinda a bullshit detector, good at seeing through people and kinda cutting to their core (just scorpio moon things) so he Will call people out. all the time. if you’re hurting yourself or other people, that is; if you’re hurting him he usually just takes it and is like ok whatever. he’s working on that in therapy tho so this might change soon enough

i would like as many people for joomi to call out as possible. he is not afraid of conflict for the greater good whatsoever so i think it would be so fun to have him fight people <3 feel free to hate him he Does Not Care

alternatively he doesn’t just fight people to be an asshole he Means to be genuinely helping. most of the time. so people he can genuinely help! he will stage interventions he will give u tough love but he also is capable of being gentle, he’s pretty good at tailoring how he acts to what he thinks people need. to some extent

i don’t know how to get joomi to learn how to do anything other than sing and play instruments but if someone can get him interested in that that would be amazing i think he’s currently the most useless muse in the roleplay as far as becoming an idol goes LMAO

he’s totally uninterested in becoming an idol atm, like it’s not even on his radar, so people to put it on his radar would be nice since this is an idol rp SDFSDDGDG not that i would be mad if he doesn’t get signed for years but! u know

neighbors? he has a roommate rn but he’s an asshole and they fight all the time. it may be concerning or u may just want them to shut up or maybe u have no clue and u just see each other around a lot, lots of options here. he will eventually move out but for now 👍 

joomi loves writing songs sm that is pretty much his Passion so?? i don’t have ideas related to this but maybe you need a song for something and don’t want to make it yourself? he will ghostwrite u a song and have a blast. fellow composer friends would be fun too but he might get grumpy if he thinks your muse is a better composer than him. that could be fun in itself tho!

There's a particular way of writing romance that I have only seen done in specific ways in the exact way I like it. The type I like only works in settings where the two lovers have an unstable story related objective that forces them to split for several periods at a time but are still bound to seeing each other again at the end of every arc. I love pining in these stages because it is definitely obvious that they like each other a lot and look forward to seeing the other the most but it is during a vague stage where it is still too casual to apply any label on it just yet. It's also nice if they're still confused on what to call themselves, even if they've already been casually physically intimate together. They still avoid it because being transparent would make things awkward or seem too forward which can risk ruining the friendship. Yet, both of them secretly make extra effort to keep it an exclusive situation-ship, because they are only thinking of each other the entire way and no other peripheral date-able person really does it like their crush does for them. Or they do find someone date-able but they keep finding themselves drawn back to the first person.

And when the stakes get higher, and one of them might be in danger, that's when the subject of exclusivity can no longer be stalled in the back of their minds, and that some feelings between them need to be confronted very soon.

Tbh I like confessions but confessions are even better when it's not a "I've been holding this in for years " nervous, sheepish confession.

My favorite kind is when they literally straight up just say what's on their mind in that moment, candidly, without hesitation, that they are in love with the other person. Like the day they were having was going so well and that their genuine happiness being with the other person made them forget to be nervous. It is cute when they get shy afterwards tho.

To add the icing on the cake, lets say, a really powerful and malevolent force is pulling them farther and farther away from each other and they are trying so hard to keep a grip on the one they love that they begin to transcend the confines of the logic of the world.

One of my favorite examples of this is when, in one of Osamu Tezukas manga, Phoenix, wherein an alien and a human are being torn apart by an oppressive force who dislikes the alien and at one point become permanently separated for millions and millions of years, and the human still dedicated to his love, waited for her the entire time. When you think they won't make it, a benevolent force grants him a wish in pity to his persistence and grief to reunite with his love as an entirely new cosmic entity and are revived in a completely new form.

So I love romantic happy endings, which is weird because I am a connoisseur for tragedy and angst. I like reading things that are painful to sit through or have miserable characters but NOT when it comes to relationships. I do not enjoy bittersweetness, or disappointment. Like sadstuck, if you will. If their relationship ends in tragedy, it will take a lot of persuasion and justifications for me to be convinced that the story needs to end that way. Like I will literally just find it a huge waste of time AND It is ruined. Like baking a really nice cake and having it flopping off the table and landing upside down. Thats how it feels. I just think its kind of a cheap thing to do. I have only seen 2 pieces of media where it made sense.

My opinion is that a good amount of the fandom doesn’t see El as her own person and only sees her as an extension of Mike even when they try to deny it, and that not being together romantically would be a lot healthier for both of their character growth.

oh this. ive found in my short bursts of exploring the stranger things fandom that far too many el stans for my liking erase or twist everything that makes her HER, or seem to get defensive over characteristics that el DOES have and things that el DOES do. not everyone loves characters the same way, sorry that you can't appreciate el's hot-headedness, intellectual struggles and probable post-institutional syndrome, and tendancy to mimic other people around her as she learns the world, but that's a you problem shawty <3

i think a lot of people just don't care to engage with her character on any deeper level other than thinking she's a cute badass who kicks monster ass, and that's okay. i do get the impression with how they talk about el and mileven, and the type of content they make, that a group of fans simply use el as a self-insert because they find finn cute. i tend to think el does have her own distinct personality, but for those who don't necessarily engage with her character, i can see how she'd come across to them as a semi-clean slate they can project onto.

and actually ive decided to go on a tangent because this just reminded me of something lol and im using this anon as an excuse to try to collect and organise my thoughts. in the conflict scene between mike, max and nancy regarding mike's concerns of treating el like a weapon, nancy was literally projecting in that scene...she's personally dealing with sexism in her own plot and thus applies her own feelings about her own situation to el's, growing defensive over mike's genuine worry, batting it away with 'el knows her own limits. el is her own person' and she's misguided because even though el does know a great deal more about her power than anyone else, she's been shown to be extremely brave, protective and sacrificial (which mike helplessly WATCHED the first time) for the people she cares about and would absolutely exhaust herself and push herself past her own capabilities if it meant saving them for a little bit longer. that's ALSO who el is at her core. a girl who loves deeply.

to me it's not that mileven is 'unhealthy' like they're kids tbh, tho mike has been paralleled to hopper in s3 numerous times with his possessiveness, talk of others "corrupting" her, and typical 80s teenage boy behaviour, for me it's that i don't really like where that dynamic puts mike's character and by extention how other characters have to kind of...revolve around mileven when it's romantically A Thing, as they literally did in season 3. mike is a group leader but in season 3 he really wasn't, mike loves his friends so much but in season 3 he was really slacking on the whole 'i would literally DIE for my friend' thing and was so obsessively preoccupied with girlfriends (while the girls, on the other hand, were living their best single lives) that he shoved aside 2 out of 3 friends etc.

el on the other hand isn't that much affected as a character by having a boyfriend/love interest as far as we can tell, which I really love, however I find it...odd...that she's this really traumatised child with actual powers, she's WEIRD she's not normal, she's no particularly well-adjusted, she's still learning language, context and behaviours and such, she doesn't know who she is or what she likes, she's barely seen the world, but right away she's just acting like a normal teenage girl with unconventional speech patterns trying on clothes, eating ice cream, skipping through the mall, oogling boys and dealing with angsty teen drama, which isn't bad, I'm just wondering where the rest went and why they can't co-exist. a quick shot of el feeling watched and uneasy while she's in the mall surrounded by all those people. something. that's not really a gripe i have with mileven, but just how it's been fitted in with the other elements of the show and how it was so in our faces all season 3. with that being said im in agreement with the metas discussing how season 3 is supposed to be superficial and goofy and emphasises how mileven doesn't really work and has been moving quickly, i think we were supposed to be uncomfortable with that makeout scene watching through the crack in the door where hopper is, being told the kissing is constant, having joyce ask hopper to clarify it's ONLY kissing these 14 year olds doing, that awkward one-sided kiss with mike's eyes wide open, everyone teasing them or expressing frustration towards them, etc. i have no hard feelings for mileven, i don't actually mind it (or i didn't until all that i just mentioned in s3 plus some), i think it's very sweet in s1 and s2. really i don't take major issue with the relationship itself when you remove it from everything else and look at it, i simply just prefer byler. LOL.

Hi Em! Have you read the Bargainer series by Laura Thalassa? I recently started Rhapsodic (the first one) and I’m unsure about wheter to continue.

The reason I’m conflicted is because the mc and the Bargainer (a mythical and ancient faerie) met for the first time when the mc was 15 because she needed his help. A little later (after she has turned 16) she started calling the Bargainer to her room every night for a year because she was feeling lonely and wanted a friend. He came and spend time with her every night until a year after the first night she tried to kiss him because of course she fell in love with him. He then disappears and they don’t see each other for seven years until he comes back to collect the favors she is owed. They already kissed once or twice so far (in exchange for a favor), but considering the genre I’m pretty sure there are many more intimate and explicit scenes coming up. I’m not sure if it’s worth continuing for me, because the grooming doesn’t sit right with me. I know they haven’t seen each other in seven years, but the mc is still really hung up on him. And so far it seems like he disappeared seven years ago because he was also romantically interested in her but since she was only sixteen at the time, he decided to wait until she was more appropriately aged. Which I don’t know if I can give him credit for since he was interested in a child.

Anyway, sorry for this long ask, but I was just interested in what you or your followers think about this series and especially about the relationship dynamic between the the mc and the Bargainer.

hiya nonnie! i have not read this series, though it has been recommended to me on a couple different occasions. if you want a more specific take on this scenario, i'd recommend asking @snusbandxknifewife about it since she's actually read it.

i'm not really in the business of trying to moralise books for other people. i'd encourage you to use your own deductive reasoning to sort out for yourself whether you agree with your personal partaking in the book or not.

but my opinion, without having any context of the described situation, is this: it's not grooming since HE'S not the one calling HER to his room every night. if they exchange a kiss or two, that's not inherently sexual. mouth kisses are actually considered a "relic gesture" by scientists, who theorise that kissing on the mouth is meant to feel like the way in which mothers used to wean their children– which was, in early human societies, by chewing up food and deep kissing their babies (mouths between shared-DNA family members being significantly less dirty than fingers/hands, at least in ancient societies, tho tbh probably also in modern day lmfao).

furthermore, sealing a deal with a kiss instead of a handshake is something you will see in many texts/stories in a wide variety of cultures throughout history. it's only in modern times in which kissing has become an intimate act. which leads me to my next point. he (your MC's love interest) is an ancient being, therefore you simply cannot apply your modern (likely hollywood aggrandised) morals to his character. that doesn't make sense.

and finally, he goes away for A WHILE after SHE tries to kiss HIM. he could've came back the moment she turned 18. that would've been shady. but he waited much longer than that. not saying he should get brownie points for that, cos that's the bare minimum. but it's not indicative of grooming for me.

HOWEVER, if this still doesn't sit right with you just.... don't read it 🤷‍♀️ you're allowed to put books down if you don't vibe with them. this is something i've had to learn as someone who takes ages and a disproportionate amount of energy to read things. BE PICKY! that's the only way you're going to enjoy your reader experience.

but i'd also encourage you to think about whether the Thing that is bothering you about the piece of FICTION is actually something that's going to take away from your enjoyment of the story, or if it's something that applies to irl so you feel guilty for shedding your morals for the sake of enjoying fiction. if you absolutely CANNOT separate your irl morals from the fiction you consume, that's fine, you don't have to read it. but that's also on you, not the author/story/anyone else who likes the series.
