Here are some headcanons on gender/sexualities of some BB Characters (mostly just the main ones, but I’ll do a few side characters too, just for fun):

The Main Man Himself, Bob: I like to think of him as Cis and he’s already canonically Bi. Someone headcanoned him as a Trans Man, and that’s valid too!! But for some reason, I’ve always seen him as Cis. I just get that vibe from him. Maybe it’s because he reminds me so much of my dad and he’s Cis.

Linda: She uses Maxi Pads (which Gene sleeps on ☠️) and was pregnant, so she’s definitely AFAB. She’s probably Cis. I probably also see her this way because she reminds me of my mom, who’s also Cis. For her sexuality, I’ve seen headcanons of a few which I think are totally valid. I can see her as just straight, maybe being the token Cishet of the Belchers. I can see her as Bi. Her and Bob being Bi for Bi is such a cute idea. I also saw someone headcanon her as Pan, which I adore. But the Bi headcanon might be my favorite.

Tina: For her gender, I can see her as either Cis or a Trans Girl. Kind of leaning more towards Cis? Not sure. It can go either way for me. As for her sexuality, I definitely see her as Polyamorous. I mean, Two For Tina basically confirmed this with her wanting both Josh and Jimmy Jr. I like to think of her as straight and polyamorous, as she’s only really talked about boys so far. But I can see her as Bi too, tentatively. But I see her more as straight and polyamorous.

Gene: I definitely see him as Genderfluid AMAB and Bi, because I’m Genderfluid AFAB and Bi and projecting. It just makes the most sense to me, as he did have a legitimate interest in Courtney, but I just can’t see him as straight. It doesn’t feel right to me. Him being Bi makes the most sense to me. It’s hard to explain, but it just does. He seems like the type to just love people, which is why the headcanon of him being Pan I feel is valid too. But again, I like to project and say he’s Bi.

Louise: I can definitely see Louise as Nonbinary AFAB. It just makes the most sense to me. She’s definitely not Cis to me, as much as Gene is definitely not Cis to me. Some people have headcanoned her as Trans Masc, and that’s valid too, but it’s not my personal headcanon. Actually, one headcanon I also came up with is her potentially being Genderfluid like Gene, but Genderfluid AFAB, leaning more towards the androgynous side. It was short-lived, but I thought it would be fun. Someone also once headcanoned her as a Demigirl, which is very fun and unique, but I do see her as Nonbinary AFAB the most. That headcanon makes the most sense to me. As for her sexuality, someone headcanoned her as Panromantic Asexual, and that was very fun. I can see that. I can also see her as Biromantic Asexual, or just Biseuxal. But I like the Panromantic Asexual headcanon the most.

Teddy: I don’t know why, but I really enjoy headcanoning Teddy as a Trans Man who is also Bisexual. I don’t know why, but it just makes sense to me. And he’s definitely a Trans Man who takes hormones, but hasn’t gotten surgery because it scares him (he just wears a binder all the time or thick shirts/sweaters to hide his chest). And he feels very Bi to me and someone who lowkey has a crush on both Bob and Linda, but won’t really act on it, as he respects them and their marriage too much. And he knows he has a nice thing going with Kathleen.

Rudy: I love Regular-Sized Rudy so much. Some people have begun headcanoning him as a Trans Girl, and I think that’s super cute!! @br1ghtestlight mentioned him keeping his hairstyle even if he’s a Trans Girl, and I agree. That would be adorable. So I like to think of this as a cute possibility, but I can also see him as just Cis. As for his sexuality, I’m honestly not sure?? Could see him as maybe a Lesbian if he’s a Trans Girl, but I’m not sure otherwise.

Jimmy Jr.: I could see him as either Bi or Gay. @br1ghtestlight has also headcanoned him as Aro/Ace, and I can see that too. Him being either Gay and heavily closeted or Aro/Ace and heavily closeted both make the most sense to me. I haven’t thought much about his gender identity. Probably just Cis?? I don’t know.

Zeke: Zeke is definitely Bi to me. It just makes sense. He’s straight-up told Tina he had a crush on her, but he also seems the type to want to explore relationships with men when he’s older, and ends up just liking people. @ratguy-nico headcanoned him as Trans too. That’s definitely valid, but I’m not sure if I headcanon him as a Trans Guy. Honestly, I don’t know what I headcanon him as gender-wise. Maybe Cis. Still not sure.

Mr. Ambrose: Yay for Mr. Ambrose being canonically gay, or at least into men!! What an LGBTQ+ icon. I can definitely see him as either Nonbinary or Agender AMAB. He just seems like the type to not really care about gender or what people call him (I like to think he uses any pronouns too—technically prefers He/Him, but really doesn’t care). There’s hardly any Agender representation at all, so I like to headcanon him as Agender the most. He seems very GNC and would wear a skirt to school one day without any hesitation and no one would question it.

Mr. Frond: Some people have headcanoned him as a Trans Woman. Gender Euphoria Gloria lives rent-free in my head. I love it. But someone headcanoned him as a Trans Man, and I can’t get that idea out of my head. I love that headcanon too. I can easily see either one. But regardless, this man is definitely not Cis. As for his sexuality, he seems like the type to keep claiming he’s straight, but is really Bi. I say this because of his short-lived relationship with Gayle, which he seemed legitimately invested in until he cheated, and I love shipping him with Mr. Ambrose so, so much. They’re the ultimate awkward middle-aged sweater vest power couple. It’s incredible.

Jimmy Pesto: He’s probably Cis, let’s be honest (he just has that Cis Alpha Male Toxic Masculinity vibe). And he seems the type to claim he’s straight all the time, always being like “Come on, I like women, I was married to one at one point!” but he’s probably Bi and just absolutely refuses to explore that part of himself at all. Maybe one day, if he lets his guard down, he might. But honestly, who knows.

Calvin Fischoeder: He gives me a Cis vibe. But look at this man. This man is definitely not straight. Come on. You cannot look me in the eyes and tell me this man is straight. He probably does like women, considering his strange relationship with Shelby. But he’s not straight. He has such a weird sort-of crush and strange homoerotic tension with Bob it’s honestly insane. I can see him as maybe Bi, but because of the time period he grew up in, he couldn’t explore that at all. I can also see him as Gay and very repressed, and his infatuation with Shelby is just Comphet. I can see either pretty easily.

Grover Fischoeder: I have no idea why, but for some reason, I desperately wanted to headcanon Grover as a Trans Man. Don’t ask me why, because I have no idea. I just thought that would be a fun, random headcanon. I honestly don’t know what to canon his sexuality as. I can’t really see him with anyone, so maybe Aro/Ace?? I still have no idea.

That might be all the people I’m going to headcanon. This was more than I was expecting to do!! But in conclusion, the only person here I can maybe see as Cishet is Linda. But even then, I can just as easily see her as Bi or Pan.

But these are just my opinions!! There are so many different, lovely ways you can interpret all of these characters.

Tonight I learned that my 20 yr old partner has never played chess and doesn't know how to play chess. This is mind boggling to me. They claim its not weird for people to not know anything about chess so I. I need to see. Please.

Okay so, I made a mistake in not elaborating the meaning of the options. You do not have to be good or know what you are doing in the slightest to pick that you have played before. The middle three options are for your understanding of the game having never played it at all. The reason there's a percentage on the last option is because my partner made a tumblr so they could pick it because they think they are hilarious.

"Hey-- uh, Danny?" There's an almost imperceptible tremor in Tucker's voice.

Danny doesn't look up from what he's doing, his pencil scritching across his notebook as he tries to do another quadratic formula question. "Hm."

"What's -- uh -- what's with the dogs?"

He looks up now, and finally sees where Tucker is -- standing in the doorway of his room with an ashy look on his face and a skewed, nervous smile. He's got a white knuckle grip on the doorknob. Sam is wide-eyed behind him, and using him as a partial meat-shield.

Danny looks down to the two giant ghost wolves sprawled next to him lazily. One large green one with his head in Danny's lap, letting him use him as a prop-up for his notebook. Another equally large black one splayed against his hip, sleeping on her side with her head tilted inward to his calf.

Automatically, a grin tilts across Danny's face, and he lifts his notebook up to scratch behind the green one's ears. He opens a lazy eye, one that is bloody red with a ring of yellow around the pupil, before slipping it shut and leaning his head into Danny's touch. "This is Sirius and Procyon," he says, and reaches down to scratch Sirius' belly. "And they're not dogs, they're wolves."

"Great," Tucker says, his voice suddenly much smaller and faint, "Love that distinction."

Sirius makes a great big groan, and Danny's grin widens, his heart swelling with fondness. His hand slips away from her belly, and before he can put his notebook back down, Procyon pushes his head up his lap until his ear is against his stomach, demanding pets now too.

Sam peeks her head up from over Tucker's shoulder, "I think what Tucker's asking here is what are they doing here, Danny."

He shrugs, scratching under Procyon's chin. "They kinda just showed up. I tried sending them back to the Zone, but they keep returning." And they were weirdly intent on just following him around, which is the only reason he gave up on returning them. They weren't causing trouble, and they knew how to hide around the living. Plus, he just loves dogs. "So now I have two wolves living with me."

This, oddly enough, did not do anything to calm Sam and Tucker down. Tucker's mouth purses into a thin line, and he presses the sides of his palms to his lips in prayer. "How have your parents not found out about this?"

Danny wordlessly raises his hand, and his sleeve slides down to reveal a thin chain bracelet hooked around his wrist. He whistles sharply, and both Procyon and Sirius jerk their heads up to look at him, ears pricked up and eyes alert.

Silently, he points to his wrist and rattles it twice, and in unison both wolves stand up and pounce. Instantly, they turn into a respective, opaque black and green mist that swirls around the bracelet and forms into two, flat wolf charms.

Both wolves are posing in the stereotypical wolf howl, with little stars indented on the sides. Procyon's charm has the Canis Minor constellation engraved on it, while Sirius has the Canis Major.

Danny faces Sam and Tucker, and points at his wrist. "Like this."

turbo is connected to the last piece of his code in the whole arcade - a trophy he gifted to felix in mid 80s as a symbol of him genuinely caring about their relationships on par with being the best racer. felix also gave him one of his medals and both kept their gifts next to other rewards, but when roadblasters and turbotime were unplugged, the medal was gone with everything else

now, after burning in cola-lava turbo is basically dead, but scraps of his code still were intertwined with the trophy (after all, it was his first winner's cup, but felix never knew about it), giving turbo an opportunity to exist as a shadow incapable of interacting with anything and anyone besides felix, who kept the trophy even after the roadblasters incident

Wei Wuxian should be able to get drunk for once. I think he'd either be singing bawdy drinking songs on the roof of the Jingshi or he'd be getting irrevocably lost no matter where he is. He's found in the bushes behind the mountains like a cryptid, and then he's like "I can't believe you all got lost" (extremely slurred) as if he didn't get embarrassed by something Lan Wangji had said and just somehow disappeared when everyone looked back at him

anyway heres wonderwall The Gang (Wangxian & their fave group of ducklings) in a city known for its STRONG wine and wuxian being like well. ur all grown now, youre technically not juniors anymore. we have to see whos lasting the longest against this stuff!, smash cut to a suspiciously wei ying-less group of the worlds drunkest cultivators being wrangled through the woods by designated driver hanguang-jun, with at least 2 of them clinging to his robes at all times.

I use Spine (professional version)! I'm pretty sure it's the same program the Twst devs use for the chibis; I decided to try reverse-engineering 'em basically because my license was just sitting around gathering dust, and I thought it'd be fun practice (this was before I tried to rig Meleanor's cape). it is an industry-standard program and, unfortunately, is priced accordingly, so it's a bit expensive if you're not planning on using it professionally -- there is a free trial, though I think you can't save/export anything in it? BUT it is truly excellent and can do a ton of super cool stuff, plus is genuinely just fun to mess around in, so I 10000% recommend it to anyone who is serious about getting into 2D rigging!

Just over here thinking about just how much trust is implied in the way Eddie let loose at the bachelor party. And I know this isn't news, that Eddie trusts Buck implicitly, but there's just something so beautiful in the idea that Eddie Diaz—master of control and compartmentalization and putting everyone else first—was not only willing, but eager to let loose with Buck. Even after the safety of the rest of their group was gone, even after Buck had invited dozens of strangers into their space, Eddie didn't hesitate for a moment to let go with Buck because of course Buck is safe and of course he can trust Buck to let go right beside him without judgment.

And there's just something really beautiful in that.

What is the PR disaster in question that made Rick announce TSATS? I wasn’t active in the online fandom at that point

Of course! This was awhile ago so it figures people don't remember it/aren't familiar:

Basically a couple years back (2020) the fandom had some posts circulate discussing the ways different characters in the Riordanverse were written poorly or offensively. There was a masterpost that went around tumblr but the two major points people were particularly focusing on were Piper and Samirah (particularly because Piper had featured prominently again in Trials of Apollo recently and the third MCGA book had further emphasized and discussed Samirah being Muslim, since it was supposed to take place during Ramadan). Basically each had multiple posts breaking down the ways they were depicted incorrectly or offensively. The entire fandom for a little bit was VERY intensely discussing this (and it's around this time the "RR crit" tag got very popularized on tumblr - it did exist before, but suddenly was being used VERY frequently - cause it was that wide-spread - though the discussion took over basically every side of Riordaverse social media on different platforms). People really wanted Rick to respond to these criticisms, so he did!

He made two blog posts, one about Piper and one about Samirah. He has since deleted both so the links are to archived versions. The short version: he essentially tried to justify his poor research and double-down that he hadn't written them offensively, actually, people were just being mean to him. The fandom, of course, reacted poorly to this.

(Fun fact, this all happened within a month or so of the time i posted an open letter on aphobic tropes in the Riordanverse that Rick replied to, and then he immediately followed with announcing that Reyna was intended to be ace-coded [which cause a LOT of fandom debate] before Rick dipped for a couple of weeks, and then came back to post the blog posts in response to Piper and Sam stuff. So I like to jokingly refer to this as "The time I imploded the fandom/drove Rick off of twitter." Twas I that set the house ablaze.)

Rick fully left social media after this and the LT Musical social media manager became Rick's social media manager for the time being.

So this all happened June/July of 2020. Tower of Nero would end up being published in October of 2020 and a few months after that Rick would state that he was done with the series and wouldn't be writing any more series installments involving Percy, and also that he wouldn't be writing a Nico quest following Tower of Nero as it "wasn't his place to" and encouraged the community to write their own versions of Nico's story.

The community continued to circulate the tumblr posts and discuss the topics of Rick's offensive character depictions, and this is also where we see the dramatic shift in how the fandom depicts Piper in fanwork (though in most cases it is admittedly not an improvement 😬) because of all this discussion. This is also around the time when the fandom brought Viria under scrutiny claiming that she was whitewashing Piper as part of the same discussions, through the justification that she was drawing Annabeth as having tan skin (which she does canonically), and if Annabeth has tanner skin then Piper then that's whitewashing Piper? Except they were using completely separate images of not fully rendered Piper art versus Annabeth in dramatic lighting, so it's all very awkward and poor logic, and did actually get kind of racist. A lot of people were calling it "Tannabeth Blackchase" (yeah, i know) or similar and a common sentiment you'd see repeated is "Don't draw Annabeth as having darker skin than Piper, because that's offensive/racist/whitewashing." (Note: it was not phrased "don't draw Piper as having lighter skin than Annabeth" - we also won't get into certain offensive depictions of Native Americans, but I digress). But yeah, the Annabeth stuff in all that did not age well at all.

Anyways, in October of 2021 however Rick would announce that he was co-writing The Sun And The Star - with a lot of heavy emphasis on how Mark Oshiro works as a sensitivity reader, and some false advertising from the official social media that Mark Oshiro was the first time a non-Riordan author would be collaborating on the series (disregarding the ghostwriters completely). One of the big criticisms in the breaking down of issues in Rick's writing was his lack of ever seeking a sensitivity reader, and fans claiming that a sensitivity reader could solve a lot of the problems. This was basically Rick's "look! I totally listened!!!!" (though it did little to actually improve things, based on the book) and in TSATS as well Piper gets a large cameo at the end where the text very directly addresses a lot of points made in criticism of Rick's writing of her.

We also then of course got the CoTG trilogy later, explicitly stated to be for advertising purposes for the show.

So basically, short version: Rick came under scrutiny for a lot of offensive writing within the span of two months, made some bad blog posts doubling down about it, left social media. TOA ends. Rick says he wasn't going to continue the series/write what would become TSATS. Community celebrates the end of of the franchise but also continues to discuss Rick's poor writing and the blog posts at length. Rick suddenly announces TSATS and Mark Oshiro's involvement. Everybody gets distracted from being mad. Show announcement stuff also happens and the discussions peter out.

This comic is based off my little brother- who I adore to bits- but who also struggles saying "I love you", "I miss you" or "I'm worried about you". Instead of saying those things he tends to do random acts to get my attention and/or cheer me up. When I left for college he brought up a ton of stuff that he had stolen from me over the years and it was honestly very cute. <3
